I have this really weird vibe that Beastly with Vanessa Hudgens and Alex Pettyfer inspired the After series. There’s this scene towards the end of the movie that very much sounds like Tess and Hardin. As well as some of the general vibes. Like the random dad who ODs and the boarding school campus. The arguing between them. Him being the bad boy with “tattoos”. An overall twisted love story. Them getting together and breaking up only to get together again. Her not being the one he was initially after and not even really being the one he wanted halfway through. It sorta fixed plot hole and issues within their relationship. Like I just have this funny funny feeling that it’s not so much a coincidence.

#terri yamamoto #as far as i can remember terri is less based on tv shows or movies but more based on vibes lol #well idk she was based a lot on chiaki kuriyama and idol culture in japan #not that chiaki is an idol but it is very common for idols in japan to do inappropriate photos (for minors at least) #i also based her on the idea of child modelling in japan and how it was very common in the '90s for whole ass children to pose nude #to this day you do not have to look that hard for these types of photos of certain japanese celebrities #not all of them are super inappropriate but we should not be letting child models pose nude in any context #ive also seen a lot of movies from the 2000s and 2010s that just show like mundane japanese life that i based some of her life off of #but ultimately i was intrigued by the ideas of a child celebrity who grows up and just wants to escape it all at any cost but it still #finds her #and the incredible void and self-destructive behaviors that depression can cause #AND a tiny bit of inspiration of mima from perfect blue #none of the psychological horror themes of the film but just the idea of her being famous and how it started to destroy her #anyway this is long and most of her story is only in my head or just not shared here yet so this is probably confusing #tag game #nonsims

I think it can become a strength of the soundtrack if I'm not afraid of how tinny it can sound at times #because it would echo some of the mixing limitations of that time #and I don't trust myself to do better work than that honestly #I have a very fraught relationship to music composition and sharing my work but I'm hoping this project can repair that a bit

Slowly getting back into the TPN fandom because I disappeared from the fandom for over a year -- but honestly, its so refreshing to find more TPN focused tumblr blogs in this day and age. Sure the series may have ended but our love for it hasn't.

I feel like the tradeoff of getting into a fandom after a series has ended is a comfort in knowing that the fancontent being produced is done out of a genuine love for the material rather than just jumping onto whatever the current hype train is. This runs the risk of coming off as elitist or gatekeeping, but in light of all the manufactured hype generation that’s purposefully pushed with the primary intention of parting people from their money above all else, the authenticity of fans is something I grow to appreciate more every year. So hearing you’re gravitating back toward the series is wonderful to hear! :D
