KIRBY'S DREAMLAND 2, WORLD 6! My Kirby gijinka drawings are still going strong! I have not missed a SINGLE day and I'm 67 DAYS IN! Cloudy Park has been the quickest world to get through so far, which is funny since the world in the actual game is one of the longest. Most of this chapter has just been the road to the sixth rainbow drop! Next week I'll post the final world of the game, but that will not be the end of the KDL2 series....

I drew a lot of the 'Road to Rainbow Drop 6' drawings preemptively because I knew I'd be going to DC on Friday & wouldn't have any time during the day to draw it. Turns out I did have a little bit, when I stopped at a coffeeshop! So I finished it there. I didn't have my sharpies with me then though, so his feathers look discolored because I used alcohol markers I had on hand. Am I insane for committing to such a complex drawing when I knew I was going on a trip? maybe a little bit. LOL. But I don't regret it. It looks cool.

Also no scrapbooking this time! I did a lot of big illustrations that wouldn't fit into my notebook, so they're just on loose paper. I wonder what I'll do with all of it... Maybe sell them? Idk, they are on recycled schoolwork so like. who would buy that right? idk. Maybe if you framed it/covered the back it'd be good?

Hello! Welcome, welcome to another post about a Kirby enemy as I am known to do. Right this way please! The post is under this box. Please go read it now.

Heehee! You’ve fallen right into my trap! This was never REALLY just a Kirby enemy post. Now I have you as a captive audience to listen as I talk at length about an obscure Game Boy game! Heeheehee! Let’s begin.

Name: Tank

Debut: Trax

Moto Shotzo is merely a cameo, a reference, to one of HAL’s earlier games, even before Kirby! Ever since learning that, I had been so intrigued, but unfortunately they never released it on the 3DS eShop for some reason, which was my only way of playing Game Boy games at the time. But now I have played it a bunch! And now I know about it and I like to know about it and I like to talk about it!

Trax is a top-down shooter game starring Tank, the lovable tank. Are you wondering how a tank can be lovable? Maybe not, because you can clearly see that this tank is dang cute. But there is more than it just being cute, because it has hopes and dreams and a heroic heart! Tank is the only one of its kind in a peaceful country village, and is old and worn-out to the point it can only turn its turret in one direction. However, a military empire invades, and Tank is the only hope of its home and friends! Could it possibly defeat an entire army of countless more powerful and efficient machines all on its own! Yes! Because it believes in itself and loves and is loved!

The story becomes even more wonderful, however, when you consider how the enemy army’s main troops are tanks identical to Beloved Tank. There is no doubt that Tank was originally created for this very army, before somehow becoming peaceful and friendly! This is my favorite kind of story ever: when a machine created for evil purposes ends up, through its own willpower or through the kindness of others or whatever, rebelling against the circumstances of its creation, and even actively fighting back against it! I love love love to see this any time it happens, and for this reason Tank is such a special little thing! Usually this sort of character is on the side, but here it is the star, and I would like that to happen more often!

Trax is a very short game, but very fun and cute and replayable! This image is not of Tank being haunted by a vision of its own fiery demise. This is Tank having destroyed the weapons factory that happens to also be a giant tank. They use the tank design a lot in this game, but can you blame them? It’s so cute with its bulbous body and bulbous orbs it rolls around on! They can even move around independently in a way that looks like a creature’s legs!

And NOW we shall actually get to Kirby! Moto Shotzo’s only main appearance is in Super Star and its remake as an enemy, and since it is an enemy, I think we can safely assume these are the ENEMY tanks from the game. Dear Tank would not do this. Moto Shotzo is a weird name, since Shotzos are invincible and Moto Shotzos are not, but it’s fine. It’s fine!!! Really!!!

Moto Shotzo’s OTHER most notable appearance is in Kirby Quest in Mass Attack, where one of the Awesome Attacks has Kirby ride on one while being chased by the first boss of Trax. Now THIS is Tank! THIS is our friend! Appearing as an ally to Kirby, and an enemy to the empire’s army! The Mass Attack minigames are basically Fanservice: The Games, but they cared enough about their history to make it beyond just Kirby, and that is wonderful!

Lastly, look at this concept art for Dream Land 2! Rather than Animal Friends, Kirby was originally going to have a tank as a friend, and though the design is pretty different, this absolutely channels the spirit of Friendly Neighbor Tank. Look at it galloping like a jovial mammal!

No matter how much HAL grows, they always love to celebrate their history, and I love that about them! No one is forgotten. Not Shigesato Itoi’s No. 1 Bass Fishing, not Pinball: Revenge of the Gator, and no, not Trax! Even if there has only been the one game to its name, My Biological Child Tank will be beloved forever!

KIRBY OC TIME!!!!!!

Here’s a Kirby oc, buddy! Buddy comes from a collaborative AU called Burgerquest that my friends and I made. So they are technically a shared custody oc. Buddy uses he/they pronouns.

Buddy is sort of a mixed concept, but the main jist is that he’s a shapeshifter that accompanies Kirby on adventures- more specifically,they represent the helpers in Kirby super star/ultra, the robobot armor in planet robobot, and the first ally slot in Star Allies. (The yellow slot.)

Buddy was originally a droppy from the mirror world who decided to leave after seeing Kirby and co adventure in Amazing Mirror.

after the escape, he joins Kirby in Super Star (Ultra) and uses their shapeshifting ability to become Kirby’s helper! Throughout the game, he takes different forms. (As I was playing through everything, I thought consolidating the helpers down into one character for my playthrough would make it easier for me to write them. And then I got attached lol)

Here’s a gijinka I made for KSSU era buddy!

During the Haltmann invasion, Buddy was captured and mechanized to become the robobot armor! They can still shapeshift in this form, although it’s quite limited, and they also can’t really move much on his own. He gets better though! Mostly. In burgerquest lore, he had to stay partially mechanized in order to keep the timeline stable. @getallemeralds has a design for this somewhere! This partial mechanization allows them to easily shapeshift into robotic forms.

Buddy also tags along for Star Allies, where he gets to know some of the dream friends. After the events of super star, he strongly distrusts Marx, but was able to become friends with Magolor. He also doesn’t like Susie for robobot reasons. They also like gooey a whole lot!

Being a shapeshifter, he has many forms, and he doesn’t really have one they use more than others. Their most common/notable forms are his base droppy form, brown kirby, and rocky.

Blatzy Extra Game version of Shotzo. Like Koozer, a replacement for a very common enemy type, though Shotzos and Blatzys being invulnerable to normal damage makes it a bit more interesting, they pivot faster and shoot faster than Shotzos. They also reappeared in Super Star Ultra, their last appearance since.

Bolted-Storage-Mouth Kirby: Kirby gained the mysterious mouthful motability after he flew through that vortex... Now he can stuff an entire set of lockers into his mouth! This one won't budge. We go, we go, wiggle and– Whoa! He just took a whole chunk of that wall down! Use this to find hidden routes you didn't know about.

Captured Waddle Dee: One of the Waddle Dees being held captive by The fearsome Beast Pack. There are so many out there waiting to be saved. You can almost hear them calling for help... "Wa-wa! Wa-wa! Let me out, let me out! Wait, you hear that too? One of them must be nearby!

Captured Waddle Dees: the Beast Pack managed to catch three Waddle Dees, with one golden cage! If they were together, they might be able to... Oh. Never mind. They're too scared to move. All they can do is cry out for help. Wa-wa! Wa-wa!" Somebody save them!

Awoofy: A common Beast that can be found all over the new world. They're pretty cute, but they hold a dangerous wild side. They'll grow and jump at anyone who crosses them! A whole bunch of these critters attacked the Waddle Dees. Funny, you'll think they'd get along!

Twister!

Hey it's one of these! Twister is a really fun and strange enemy, appearing often enough to have multiple redesigns, but not enough to be a mainstay. That's mostly due to the Tornado ability itself having an on and off history throughout the series. Twister is pretty much always the main Tornado enemy though, with Air Ride as the one exception. (And Kirby GCN being an almost exception.) Twister is a really fun idea for a Tornado enemy as well, being a living spinning top, that spins so fast it turns into a tornado that flies around the screen. How clever and cute! The little orbs attached to Twister are interesting, as I'm not entirely sure if they're supposed to be hands or not. I tend to draw them as hands regardless cause its fun lol. Just yesterday as of when I posted this, a Kirby and the Forgotten Land trailer dropped, and Tornado was revealed to be returning for the first time since Return to Dream Land! (Not counting its spinoff appearance in Battle Royale). We didn't actually see Twister in the trailer, so I can only hope it doesnt get a drastic redesign that makes this drawing outdated. That's my one true fear........ (This is also one of my favorite Copy Ability logos I've done to date!)
