Whenever I talk about Celestia and why I hate her to my friend (who likes Celeste and tries to defend her in every way possible) always tells me "Well, you should thank her for killing Hifumi who killed Taka." Like...no??? She's the person behind EVERYTHING in that plan. She lied about Taka "taking advantage of her sexually and blackmailing her with photos he took of her" just to get Hifumi to get rid of Taka.

Then she killed Hifumi.

And she seemed to not show any remorse. And for what?! MONEY?! Unlike Sayaka who did it for her friends, Celeste can go SUCK A DICK! No, I will never like her. Nor will I "thank her" for killing Hifumi. She manipulated Hifumi into killing an innocent person who was MENTALLY UNSTABLE!!! Using the computer SHE STOLE as a way to cope with the lost of his friend. And she took the other guy who was also obsessed with the computer and plotted against Taka who wasn't even the main target?? She was going to kill Hifumi anyways, why not just kill Hifumi and let Taka go???

Two lives were taken just so she could have MONEY! Fuck Celeste! Fuck Chapter 3! I hate that bitch! She's not girlboss, she's a sack of shit who shouldn't be defended.

I do not like writing in first person. I havent done it in ages. But with my babe oc Celest Sycay aka Monster the Spy Blackmailer Advisor Historian Creatures Biologist Occult Magic Ambassador Singer and of course Fairest extrordinare? I'm like. Well given the chance he would narrate every single fucking encyclopedia point I just wrote on the lore, he'd go more in depth than me, he's the most knowledgeable motherfucker on all the weird things the people he knows have to deal with and they all know it and bug him. And he's such a fucking drama queen too he'd tell it like someone lamenting into his diary the horrors of modern leadership and the fascinations of what questions arise if you try to turn a mortal into a god or pit demon magic against faerie magic needing one to override? He'd be talking the ears off of his poor lovestruck its-complicated partner/Leader of a realm trying to explain why it matters that he word his next speech a certain way so that he doesn't break a truce and get himself burned in the city square. Meanwhile his lover/ex/its complicated Leader of the realm is hearing almost nothing, torn between "he's so pretty <3 especially when he's passionate like this <3 he's so amazing <3 i couldnt do anything without him" and the last actual brain cell ringing the siren alert "he needs to sleep! He's been up 48 hours probably planning this dossier on advising how to not cause a political disaster! How do i convince him it will be fine so please go to bed???"

I'm glad to hear!! I know I haven't posted a lot of stuff in regards to Inscryption, I've picked up on multiple fandoms in the past year and so it's been hard to balance, and also life has been super busy.

I hope to get to it sometime soon! I really love the story of Playtester (it's all planned out, though it's not Kaycee's mod compatible because KM was one of the things that made me pause the fic) but I really just don't currently have a lot of time to write or draw for fun.

These type of comments really up my motivation a lot though, I can't understate how much I appreciate this ask and everyone I see in my notes :) (and really, any interaction y'all have sent, I love getting asks and seeing names I recognize in my notes)

i've actually been meaning to make a whole post about dawn with doodles for reference, but since i've never gotten around to the doodling bit i only have this to offer right now

the gist of it, if it's not obvious, is that dawn grew up alongside diluc. she was just a baby phoenix chick when he first got his vision (diluc probably first summoned her by trying to make his flames take specific shapes, with birds of prey being especially familiar given theyre a family symbol). she went from the size of a hawk to the size of a giant condor throughout his teenage years. of course, giving up his vision meant parting with her as well, so it was quite the shock to summon her again years later and seeing how much she'd grown.

that's also when diluc acquired a better understanding of what she really was. before then, she'd always been a very friendly presence, enthusiastic, intrepid, eager to please. diluc simply figured he'd been blessed with an elemental companion (think of oz, or razor's electro wolf - although i doubt either of those had their visions back then already, i assume it wasnt completely unheard of). however, dawn was very different from how diluc remembered her when they reunited - not only bigger, but also much more fierce and standoffish, not unlike the vision-bearer who brought her to life.

for dawn is not just a companion but a reflection of diluc himself, an embodiment of his soul brought about through the element he's so attuned to. think of daemons in the golden compass/his dark materials - dawn is much like that ! she can reveal diluc's state of mind or how he might feel about the people he's with, for example - which is part of the reason why he only calls upon her in battle nowadays. they share a very strong connection; diluc will feel it if she gets hurt (also why she's only summoned briefly in battle when she is), just as he will feel it if she's praised or dotted on.

of course, keeping her ignited takes energy in and of itself, though it can be worth it in certain situations (like wanting to keep warm or intimidate), and certain circumstances (like having her out for very long or flying away very far) makes it more demanding. notably, keeping her out and about in the rain is very unpleasant for the both of them, you can actually see her flames are more scattered and not as bright

as for diluc's bird,

this was actually the first headcanon i ever posted on my original blog. the gist of my theory being that it's vennessa. to reprise the main points making up this theory:

vennessa reincarnated into a falcon that looks very similar to the one in diluc's idle animation. she's also one of the four winds, 'the falcon of the west', and would be the only one of the four winds we still haven't seen in-game for some reason if she wasn't the bird in diluc's idle.

in the manga, venti see her after waking from a long nap and says something along the lines of 'oh she's still watching over mondstadt', implying that she very much is still around and keeping watch after all these years, in spite of what people may think.

there’s a number of hints that strongly imply diluc is vennessa’s descendent; the several bird symbols associated with the ragnvindr family, the hair color, the connection to pyro (children of murata), etc. which would explain why vennessa would check on him regularly

perhaps less relevant, but the dawn winery area is the westernmost region of mondstadt, so it would even make sense if she kept an eye on this area especially.

the idea behind diluc's first encounter with her is similar to that of dawn's, in that he was very young at the time and didnt really catch on to her true nature until years later. i like to think she would have approached him out in the wild, and being already familar with the basics of falconry (thanks dad) diluc simply offered an arm as a perch and never questioned why a wild falcon would already be trained. again, they eventually got wind (eheheheehe) of her identity over the years, but her secret is safe with him.

(the new idle is legitimately the first thing to make me doubt this theory, although it made a lot of sense up until this point, i dont think the spirit of vennessa would serve as diluc's personal messenger bird - not unless it's to dive into another potential theory that she specifically watches over him because he defends mondstadt on her behalf, but that's much less likely. i really hope we actually get a bit of lore on that front with the new outfit so i can decide whether or not to adjust my interpretation sdfjhfsdh)
