Roy Keeley Jamie thoughts:

Windmills, and finding something real you didn’t believe could exist.

I wanted to post this before the newest episode (10) dropped and I didn't quite make it. BUT I haven't watched 10 yet, so I'm saying it still counts.

I am probably connecting dots that are not meant to connect, but… I have some thoughts to string together.

1. Roy had never seen a real windmill or—in terms of the way his lines are phrased—didn’t believe they actually existed.

ROY: It just looks like a Disney version of an old city. It all looks so fucking fake.

JAMIE: It’s not fake.

ROY: Come on. Windmills? Fake.

JAMIE: I ain’t even from here and I’m offended. Windmills are real, man. What are you talkin’ about?

ROY: Yeah, I’ll believe it when I see it.

So Jamie took that as an opportunity and immediately decided to show Roy that windmills real. Not only that; Jamie also taught Roy the method for going to find them. He quite literally shows him the how, and then shows him the way!

2. Of course, “let’s go find a fucking windmill” is said in the bike scene, but when it’s repeated later is what really gets me:

ROY: I think Keeley’s got a girlfriend.

JAMIE: Hm. ….Let’s go find us some windmills, eh?

ROY: Yeah.

3. And lastly… Combine this with how, when Jamie talks to Keeley about her relationship with Roy, he says this:

JAMIE: I thought the only reason the two of you was going out was to make me jealous. But… Then I saw it was real.

Jamie refers to Keeley and Roy's relationship as "real." Just like–say it with me–the windmills.

So, here's what I'm saying: this all feels like it adds up into the sketch of a metaphor about them as a triad.

And while I know windmills have 4 blades... where the blades meet, what shape is created in the negative space?

Triangles.

Now, of course... In one sense, Roy basically looked at the fake windmills and scoffed at the idea of a Disney-fied fake veneer (a la fictionalized ideals of romance), and Jamie said that a real version of that does exist and showed Roy the way to it. So maybe that could mean that Jamie will be a catalyst for Roy and Keeley getting back together and believing they can make it work.

But more strongly, to me... This whole thing is very centered on Roy having never seen something like this before. He has no real life frame of reference for windmills. He's abstractly heard of real windmills, but he still says "I'll believe it when I see it." Not only that, but he's also never ridden a bike! Again: no frame of reference, no experience with it in the real life. And Jamie takes both of these things as a challenge but in the most supportive way possible simply because he wants to help and share in some joy. Through patience and honesty he essentially gives Roy the tools to pursue that very real thing anytime he likes, and he shows Roy the way to something realer than he ever expected.

So. Maybe that means that Roy and Keeley will get back together, but then they'll turn around and tell Jamie they fit better together with him.

Because without even realizing it, Jamie quite literally shows them both the way to something larger-than-life that they didn't previously believe was possible.

In conclusion: I WOULD LIKE TO SEE THIS REACH ITS INEVITABLE CONCLUSION, PERSONALLY.

I mean, how many characters have models that you haven’t posted yet? Bc I would like to see all of the models but if there’s a ton then I wouldn’t ask that of you

To be clear, literally every character in the game has one or more 3D models. Every single NPC, those faceless people that you walk by/through while walking through the city, every playable character (and every outfit they have; every single one of Wonder's outfit options), every shadow, every Persona, etc. The game's all 3D models (with 2D images over them making up the UI and portraits), and the files are where those 3D models and 2D images are stored, so quite literally, anything you see in the game is somewhere in the files, and something I could theoretically extract for you.

There's also a ton of stuff in the files that doesn't show up in the game (yet?), like 3D models and portraits for a bunch of the Confidants and Palace rulers in P5. Even stuff you only see for a few seconds, like the table and tea set that appears for Noir during her AOA finisher in the split second before it swaps to the 2D image people usually think of for her AOA, have their own 3D models.

So I appreciate that you're not asking me for all of them, haha!

I just focus on posting the interesting things and the new stuff; new portraits for main characters, 3D models for civilian outfits of the Phantom Idols that we haven't really gotten to see, characters indicated as future Phantom Thieves/Idols, stuff like that. And then if anyone asks me for specific stuff outside of that, I don't mind going back for it, because I noted down where everything is in the (massively disorganized) files, so it theoretically shouldn't take me too long to hunt down the pieces for any given character and put them together to post.

All that to say, I try to post the things that I know myself and others are probably most interested in seeing. You're not really missing much in the rest of the files, unless, for instance, there's a sidequest NPC or something you have a particular interest in and want to see the full portraits/model for.

#anonymous #I think the only models I grabbed just because *I* thought they were fun and wasn't going to bother posting #are the nameless kokatsu students that play instruments in the background with wonder during the music minigame #they are quite literally nameless. their files don't even have a name or nickname for them they're just student_drum and etc #posting the portraits and models is also kind of tedious though not difficult #because the portraits are broken up into a head base + a bunch of eyes + a bunch of mouths + a mask where applicable #so I have to put those files back together and layer them correctly to give you a complete portrait #and 3d models need 2d textures to show up as anything but featureless grey #so for those I have to hunt down all the 3d model pieces (hair face eyes body. usually) and then match up all their textures to them #it's a lot of work haha! #but I don't mind it too much because I know most people don't really know how to get into the files and do it themselves #in fact I learned *for* the sake of datamining p5x! #I basically haven't done anything but sort through files. watch gameplay. and put things together to post. since the beta started haha #my life sort of goes on hold (as much as possible) each beta until I'm done with the files so I can get them posted asap! #but this is partially because *I* want to see them as bad as you guys do haha #so uh. yeah! that's probably way more of an answer than you wanted but that's the true reality of the work going into this behind the scene

Okay, so. I finally downloaded a VPN so I could watch Doctor Who on the BBC site, but even with my location set to London, it's still not working. I clicked on the little troubleshooting link (of course I'm in the UK BBC, don't you see my IP address?), and one of the suggestions was to turn off any VPNs. Is this just in case a British person forgot their IP address was set to somewhere else, and maybe the VPN I got isn't very good, or is it not possible to watch on the BBC site with a VPN at all? Is anybody out there having any luck with this, and if so, what VPN are you using? Or does anybody have any... other suggestions for somewhere else I could maybe watch Doctor Who online?

maybe the reason See How They Run succeeds as a period piece where Persuasion (2022) DOESN'T, even though both have "wink at the camera"/4th wall breaking moments, is because SHTR is ALLOWED to actually be a period piece even though they toy with narrative devices and framing. the main character turning around and speaking directly to the camera, and thus the audience, at the end of the story isn't degrading the audience or making fun of the period of period drama we've just been immersed in for two hours, it's making the audience a PART of the past 2 hours. it's tongue in cheek, but it's sharing a joke with the viewer instead of making fun of itself, and that's why it actually works so well.

#and especially because the story is centered around a production of a play it makes sense!!! #because the actors of the play speak directly to the audience!!! and so do the characters of the film outside the play #it's almost midsummer night's dreamesque in the framing of the ending tbh #anyway i haven't seen persuasion2022 and i don't want to (even if it wasn't awful #I'm just not an austen girl) but shtr is still living rentfree in my brain #and to think i only watched it at first because of saoirse's Impeccable Vibes akdkfjskfskfh #Lu rambles #anyway. you can toy with framing in period pieces but you have to do it RIGHT. #and all of you should watch see how they run asap and come talk with me about it

yeah so i'm still going through skizz's episode (cause like i said i can't watch the entire episode rn) and i think jimmy died because of the warden?? i initially thought (from pearl's pov) that the wither killed him but it's the warden??? feel a bit insane cause last time we had a warden on the surface tango was the one who brought it up so he and jimmy could get revenge on scar and now someone else brought a warden up and jimmy was the first one who died because of it. idk if this makes sense but ITS JUST VERY INTERESTING like the warden, a mob the ranchers tried to use to get revenge in dl, being the cause of his final death in sl and making sure that he died right after the canary curse was broken. does this make sense? i do not know. i'm just rambling at this point. was just interesting to me.
