hehe well, thank you first of all. second of all... um both? practice yes, no one gets it on the first time. and just. i dont know? doing it over and over again and trying new things and experimenting, seeing what works, what doesn't, where the background is needed and not.

i remember i heard a lot of artists around me saying that they didn't like or couldn't draw backgrounds, and for some reason i decided that im not gonna be like other girls and learn to do it. and i uhhh.... just started? drawing backgrounds? i was trying, and watching tutorials on youtube, and seeing how other people did it and eventually it got easier? i can say that i definitely enjoyed figuring out how to do it, struggling to get the perspective and composition right. like, it was hard but i had a lot of fun doing it, so it felt natural and just like, normal art progression? it didn't feel like i was going out of my way to draw backgrounds, i just did it when i felt like it?

at some point i joined a character ask, you know, when people ask questions and you draw the character answering. and i decided that im gonna draw a background for each answer instead of it being a character on a blank background. and doing this, like, specifically trying to draw backgrounds and tell a story with them, and doing it regularly and coherently, it helped me progress a lot. like, i started with a character sitting on a couch in a room, and then it got better and better, multiple rooms, multiple angles of the same room, different locations and images. it helped me a ton. just, figuring out when you need a background, when its rather i did something simple for one frame and focused on the other instead, where the character needs to be positioned, etc.

i can say i didn't do a lot of proper studies, and if i did maybe it would've been helpful... i only drew things that were in my head, with characters that i liked, with imaginary locations and stuff. never really drew from photos... we did go on plein-airs, or whatever they're called, when i was in art school, so drawing backgrounds from real life probably also helped a little, but i can't remember anything about it so it didn't do as much.

i looked at a lot of art from cool artists and expanded my visual library, i analyzed their art trying to figure out why i like it and how to make my art have the same kind of feeling. and i still do! sometimes something just takes over me and i scroll pinterest for 3 hours looking at pretty art and going to artists' profiles and saving art and using it as inspiration later. and it helps! a lot!

i dont know where this post is going ummm. i guess if you want to learn to draw something, just like, start. scrap it if you don't like it and try again, have fun, don't get attached. and uhh, i felt a little nostalgic so here are some of my pieces that i did throughout the years. definitely feels like i got better at it recently, but there's still a lot of room for improvement

oh and for your second question. one piece takes about ummmm... more than a thousand episodes, thats 20 minutes times 1000 devided by 60 devided by 24... we're looking at about 14+ days of non stop watching?

no but for real. i dont really keep track of time when im drawing, uhh. plus depending on the complexity... my recent jrwi drawings are sketches, so they took maybe one or two hours max. something rendered uhhh, maybe 5 hours? if i don't finish it in one day the chances of this drawing ever getting done are super low, soo yeah

It’s been a quiet day at the shop, and you’re working on an arrangement of flowers when an arm slams against the wall behind you. You jump out of your skin as you whip around, coming face to face with none other than your newest regular.

“Hello there, love. I missed you today.” he purrs, leaning in far too close to your face, “You look as lovely as ever. It’s a shame I didn’t see you this morning when I came by.”

“I...I was working on something.” you mumble, eyes darting to the floor in embarrassment. Arthur tsks and tilts your chin up, making you make eye contact with him. You squirm, feeling heat rise to your cheeks at the touch, and he grins because he knows.

“What were you working on, love?” he asks, his tone flippant, “I would love to see your newest project, although I doubt it’s as lovely as the woman in front of me.” He winks, and you feel like shriveling up. He’s such a flirt, he does this to every woman he comes across, but you can’t help but wish it was special to him.

“I...I can show you.” you murmur, docking under his arm, “Just follow me.” You skitter towards the back of the shop, walking much faster than you usually would as Arthur trails behind you curiously. You hear him say something along the lines of I’d follow you anywhere but you ignore it.

He whistles quietly when he sees the arrangement you’ve put together, violets and blue roses and white chrysanthemums blooming inside their vase. Your heart is pounding in your ears as you recite the meanings to yourself, hoping he understands what they mean while also hoping he doesn’t. Trust, loyalty, deep love—

“It’s beautiful, love.” he compliments, reaching out to brush his fingers against one of the roses, “You always blow me away with your arrangements.

“Um.” you swallow thickly, snatching up the two bows from the tabletop and holding them out of him, “Which one do you like better?”

He laughs, giving you an affectionate look. “What does it matter, love? You always make the best decisions.” You huff, gnawing at your bottom lip. He doesn’t understand.

“Just pick one!” you blurt, and he jolts a bit at your demand. Slowly, he reaches forward and takes your left hand. his fingers intertwine with yours, trapping the ribbon in your fist.

“This one.” he smirks, reveling in your obvious embarrassment. You rip your hand away from his and get to work, tying up the bouquet with the ribbon he chose. Arthur watches you work, something you’ve gotten used to since he gains an interest in you.

“For you.” you mumble when you finish, presenting the bouquet to him with a hot face and shaky hands, “I made this for you.”

He hums thoughtfully and takes it from you, cradling it in his arms like it’s the most precious thing he’s ever received. “Thank you so much, love.” he says softly, and when you look up at him he isn’t smirking and leering, he’s smiling softly at you, “Let me take you out sometime, yeah? My treat.”

There’s another bouquet at the front door, and once again it is addressed to Isaac. The physicist fumbles over his words as he takes it from Dazai (who is smiling far too brightly for Isaac’s liking.)

Arthur wolf whistles and mocks him all throughout breakfast, joking about his secret admirer and guessing who it could be. A mother of a child he teaches? One of the employees from that cafe he frequents?

No pleas from Isaac to cease their teasing work, and he finds himself storming into his room to escape the jeers. Leave it to Arthur to make innocent affections seem so filthy and off-putting!

He furrows his brow as he sets the bouquet on his desk, the flower's various shades of pink and red. He can recognize roses well enough, but the other flowers' specific classifications evade him.

One thing’s for sure—this is not a bouquet of friendliness. Whoever sent these flowers to him wishes to pursue something with him. And in the back of his mind, the place in which he dares not travel, he finds himself wishing it was the awkward florist he visits.

It all started with the children and their growing interest in biology. Napoleon brought up the small florist’s shop that had opened right next to the cafe Isaac loved so much, and all of the children were ecstatic to visit.

It was there that he met her, a woman that fumbled with her words but was so deft with her hands. She’d won over the children almost instantly, and they’d swarmed her with questions. She’d even handed them all dandelions as a thank-you for visiting, and despite her shyness, offered to host them again.

After endless pleas to visit the nice flower lady, Isaac couldn’t resist. He’d found himself in that flower shop time and time again, and even though he’d never admit it, most of his visits were for her.

She was intelligent in a way that was different from his own intelligence. She thrived on hypothetical meanings and things that held no grounding in actual science, and it was intriguing as it was scary.

He shakes those thoughts away and slumps down in his chair, resting his head in his hands. It hadn’t been that long, only a few weeks, and yet he was utterly enamored by her. It was strange and new, it was terrifying, it was everything Isaac had never known.

Sighing again, deeper this time, he sits back in his chair. The bouquet rests on his desk, where it mocks him with every second that passes. Would he ever know who was sending these? Would he dare ask?

Isaac shakes his head and vows to find another vase to place this bouquet in. He’ll preserve them for as long as he can (at least he knows that much, he couldn’t live with himself if he let such pretty gifts die quickly) and hopefully, someday, he’d gather the courage to ask her about the flowers.

ok. a genuine question. how do u guys write 20-30k *chapters* bc i will outline fics minutely or i will just let myself start writing based off a vibe & either way i will get 600 words out of maybe. two hours of work. on a good day with no distractions/interruptions, & i very much do not have an uninterrupted two hours to write very often, so you can imagine how slowly things get written T_T so i’m interested if there’s any aspect of any of your writing processes that really enables u guys to write so much or if it’s not really something you think about? anyways i really like ur guys’s work, & thank you for deciding to write for byler bc i know me and a lot of people enjoy it a lot. thanks!!

hello !! this is a super valid question and i’ll try my best to answer it for you 😗✌️

andi infamously writes a lot faster than thea and i do (she finished draft 1 of chapter 3 in like. two days. which was so scary. i’m in awe of her fr) but she has also spent a lot of time editing ch3 so it’s definitely not like these chapters are publish-ready in a short amount of time by any means! it took thea a couple of months total to fully write + edit ch1 and it took me about 3.5 weeks to write ch2 and another two weeks to edit it which is part of the reason we’ve spaced out our posting schedule like we have — we put a lot of effort and care into these updates and we want to give ourselves as much time as possible to get ahead before all 3 of us inevitably get so super busy with work and/or school in the fall!! so while we do write a lot, please don’t think we are so insanely speedy about it because unless we are having Really Good Writing Days, that’s definitely not the case. sometimes we do have days where we are really in the zone and write more than usual, but at least for me, this is so so so rare. whatever i write in this time gets heavily edited because so much of it was nonsensical brain vomit LOL

as far as writing process goes, i think one of the things that motivates us a lot is that we genuinely do just talk about this au constantlyyyyy like we’re always coming up with silly little hcs or drawing for it or adding to the Lore ™️so we’re always getting inspired to write! all three of us are definitely people who use writing as a way to relax or even reward ourselves after a long day; we would probably die if we had to go too long unable to :/ messages like “i can’t wait to get home and write after work today” or “i’m going to write a little bit of ___ before bed because i deserve it” are very commonly found in our gc because we really just look forward to it so much! as for our scary word counts, i feel like there is a lot of worldbuilding in this universe specifically, and pacing is really important to us — we want to make sure introductions and set-up to a scene and character interactions are meaningful and flow naturally, and building tension (which is a hallmark of this fic hehe) does take some time, which can definitely add up word count-wise.

for the most part, none of us usually have a solid few hours to sit and write either (unless it’s on our days off or after work if we’re not too tired) and we get a lot of writing done in chunks! we hold each other accountable for short check-ins (“ask me for a snip in 30 minutes”) which is super helpful when you’re stuck, because it kind of forces you to get Something down without worrying if it’s super polished and edited and perfect. if you’re writing on your own, something i’ve started doing lately is setting a 15 minute timer and just seeing how much i can get done in that time, and then setting another and doing it again (up until however much time you have to write that day). i’ve found that the artificial deadline helps break the monotony of sitting in front of your computer for Hours on end with nothing to show for it bc TRUST we’ve all been there and it sucks so bad 😔✊

this got super long so i apologize but i hope at least a little bit of it was helpful! it definitely helps that we are constantly feeding into each other (i.e: having brainrot) and offering inspiration and advice, which does wonders for creative flow tbh. we’re definitely not cranking these chapters out as quickly as people might seem to think — thea started chapter four, which won’t be posted for about a month, maybe a week or two ago. i just started chapter 5 — about 6 weeks away — yesterday lol so we do take our time! don’t be scared by the giant chapters, we just had a lot of content we wanted to include in each one and are in too deep to take anything out 🥳🥳 thank you for the question! good luck with your writing we believe in you 🫡

literally that one guy from the cut videos who answered his ex's call with "ur alive???". taeyoung's the 2nd poster boy for exes to friends (slow-burn, 500k words) so he'll be absolutely used to talking to you and doesn't suspect anything. when u hit him with the "what happened to us?" he'll be like lmaoo what do u mean what happened to us ur so funny. doesn't take him long to get serious with you and quit the joking though, he's very honest with his answer and very open about his vision of the breakup. doesn't really place the blame on either of you even if you were the one to fuck everything up, for example. he's still going to do everything he can to assure you that it's all good and well, forgiven and in the past. just like jungmo and hyeongjun, he's curious about this sudden behavior and is open to talking about getting back together. if you want to, he's open too

I used to work in a little convenience store and I would collect those mini brand foods and the whole time I worked there I built a mini scale version of our store for some reason,,,, and then one of the companies of the crafts I used reached out when I posted about it on Reddit and I got to meet with a few executives and just show them the little store I built and it was fr one of the strangest side quests I have ever completed 💯 I also love love love going to the gym or running whenever I have free time I just find it so therapeutic and it gives me a lot of inspiration! Binging horror movies is a HUGE one too. And I used to be super into music like playing the piano but I’ve mentioned on here I haven’t done it in a while which may contribute to my myriad of random hobbies now 🤓

I just wanted to say, I really love ur art (like, all ur TMNT 2003 stuff, ur TMNT IDW stuff, and ur TMNT: Dark Fate stuff)! It is all really awesome. U have such a cute and nice style, and u can recreate other styles too really well.

Also, as a Leo fan, ur blog has been very nice for that/as a Leo fan too (I love the others too though! They are all great. I just have my favorite).

Besides all the TMNT 2003 stuff, I really liked that TMNT IDW City Fall Leo you did (I love that arc, and I love that Leo look very much. Man, I want an animated adaption of City Fall and/or Foot Leo someday. With that look or something similar, but just as awesome. I want that so much), and that one post with Mikey, Jennika, and Leo texting too!

Ur TMNT: Dark Fate art, comics, descriptions, etc.; have been really interesting and cool so far. I am really interested in ur own iteration! I love how they all have powers (I really liked that kind of thing/stuff w/ Rise), and the powers they have (I think of other powers that would suit them too, but the ones u have defin. suit them very well).

I love them all, though I think Leo and Donnie are my favorites description, design, etc. wise (for the turtles at least). They are all very good though.

I find it interesting that Leo and Raph's powers mirror each other (while Donnie and Mikey's mirror each other), however Donnie and Raph are actually the twins with each other, and Mikey and Leo have some parallels design wise (like the longer bandanna tails, which I love), and are the two younger ones. Idk, I just find that interesting. (Are Mikey and Leo twins too, or just the two younger ones?). Also, even while not the eldest, and in this case, 2nd youngest, Leo can't escape being the Leader lol (like in Rise. Though, with Rise Leo, I see stuff and debates with/about him being 2nd oldest and/or 2nd youngest with him. I like both, though, sometimes I might lean more one or the other).

Man though, what did Splinter do to poor Leo at Age 7 that changed his attitude so much? Now, I am on edge w/ ur version of Splinter. I don't trust him.

Ur Casey and April designs are great too! I love April being really into aliens, and them being cousins! Honestly, that is really inspired.

Really excited for more of ur TMNT: Dark Fate comic and stuff; when u can. Probably one of my favorite TMNT fan versions/iterations I have stumbled across.

hiii (again lol) just wanted to elaborate a little, but there is so much in the way you write particularly Sniper and his struggles with shame, loneliness, that hunger (in all its forms) and complex parental relationships that just resonates so deeply. Reading (and rereading) through the series and the evocative way you describe everything and break down/talk through it within and in bonus posts has really helped me put words to some of own feelings and motivated me to work towards improvement!

the tenderness hurting more than pain..,., like idk how else to describe it lsdkfjsdjf. being told your whole life that you can’t let your emotions dominate you, you can’t let your feelings get in the way of What Really Matters (which as it turns out.. is… nothing really at all lol. or nothing that can’t be Enhanced With Feelings…!) and realizing later in life like oh my god. i’ve wasted so much time being This Person and now it’s not working anymore… and you cling to That Person because they’re all you’ve known how to be… and the idea of putting yourself out there as Who You Are and not Who You Were Told To Be… god it’s horrific. and so scary. and it sucks. but for the sake of love… you want to try… but how do you even try… well… with a lot of attempts! and after a while it starts to get a little more natural.. and a little more natural…. <3 hehe.. and the feeling of rejection from your parents (who you are desperate to please) for things that you can’t help or don’t even understand yourself… it feels really bleak. and sniper’s only been taught to just “power through it” but it’s like… that can’t work forever.. sometimes you need to turn around and Face what you feel… and shoving through it only works for so long…!

i’m so happy to hear that you’ve been inspired to improve yourself too, i’m right there with you!! being in a place emotionally where you find the ability to like. Look Within Yourself and at least Try to improve,, it’s really hard!! and sniper and medic doing it in their own unique ways (and the slow crawl that they do it at!) and seeing them be… not so great at it but they’re getting better! i think that’s a really human trait… like it’s okay that things don’t magically fall into place all at once Conveniently, you know what i mean? and i think with tf2 characters especially it’s like… they’re all immature, they’re far from perfect, but they’re also so capable of love… in their own ways hehe!! but i think that’s fun. i like that we can all have a little emotional vulnerability… together! :’)

with dottore i think it's not a super common occurrence mainly because dottore really isn't all that used to showing or receiving affection, it would definitely take a while until he'd start displaying casual gestures like that....but i think especially post-canon he would occasionally do this to show that they are Together. back when they were still with the midnight circus dottore would definitely make sure to signal to the other automata to keep their hands off silvio because he's essentially his little pet human....there's always a little bit of possessiveness there (not so much directed at silvio but at other people/automata), but he eventually starts to feel genuinely protective of him and i could see him using small gestures like this to let others know not to mess with him lmao

shapesmith ABSOLUTELY does. i imagine he is very very touchy w ky (and they love it) - almost always putting a hand on their shoulder or an arm around them when they're together. it's probably not even something he thinks about much after a while, they've both just become very used to always being in each other's space and touching each other in some small or big way

💇 - Do either of you play with the other’s hair?

hmm my s/is have short hair for the most part and so do my f/os, and i actually don't enjoy having my hair played with very much,,,but since i keep my hair very very short irl people love giving me head scritches because of the way it feels which is something that i actually like lmao. so if that count's as playing with each other's hair then yeah :) i could definitely see shapesmith and dottore enjoying it as well.....

💪 - Are either of you the type to bump each other with hips/shoulders?

once again dottore and silvio not so much (also a bit difficult since silvio reaches up roughly to his chest. maybe), but it's definitelyyyy a kysmith thing <3 they do it playfully a lot but i imagine it's also something they tend to do before fights/missions sometimes, kind of a quiet "i've got ur back"

👕 - Do you ever wear each other’s clothing?

once again it's a bit difficult with both of them because uh. dottore has exactly One Outfit (plus silvio's clothes would ABSOLUTELY not fit him </3) and shapesmith technically doesn't wear real clothes....BUT i'm still thinking about scenarios for both of them where at least dottore/shapesmith lend their clothing to silvio/ky hehe. i like to think ky and shapesmith would definitely go shopping for clothes together, even though in shapesmith's case he doesn't necessarily need to buy them and is just looking for inspiration on what to "wear" in terms of human fashion and develop more of his own style because he's always just worn a uniform (or his costume) before. but i also think it'd be cute if he eventually started buying a few clothes, mainly so ky could wear them because he's seen other couples do it and got a little sad he could never give them his jacket/sweater/whatever....he never explicitly says this but ky definitely catches on and appreciates it a lot :')

with dottore i also imagine there are a few times he ends up putting his jacket (?? or whatever u call that) around silvio because he's cold or injured, and given we know how much value the pionniers place on the clothes given to them by francine i think it's definitely a special gesture <3

So uhhh… I made this. No I’m not making a fnaf fan game idk how to code, I only know how to draw. (Barely.)

The summary is that Withered Freddy finds out that most of the animatronics are missing and looks at the console where he saw Toy Freddy. Toy Freddy found it from a dumpster so of course it’s cursed and so Withered Freddy gets sucked into the survival horror game console. There are multiple worlds like a haunted house, abandoned hotel, a lost ship, a totally not dangerous carnival and some glitchy world idk. Fighting some animatronic monsters 👺 I guess. So this is my first out of 8 playable characters in the game (characters are Withered Freddy, Toy Freddy, Toy Bonnie, Toy Chica, Withered Bonnie, Withered Chica, and Withered Foxy. Some of them which you have to save in certain worlds and levels). Withered Freddy finds Toy Freddy, later Withered Freddy goes missing and Toy Freddy has to save him. Okay. Now I summarized the story I will explain the pictures too. Ouch.

This is Withered Freddy’s character selection picture. The brighter one represents him being unlocked and still alive. The darker represents him not being unlocked yet or he ended up dying.

Now I will explain whatever this image means. And No it is not a Game Over. (I’m not making the game over screen till I have done all the playable characters.) You See the characters act as lives. If your character dies (unless u only got one) you have to continue the level you’re on with a different character. The game over is when all your playable characters die. Then you lose all of your items /(Including collectibles hehe yes I am evil.) and you Have to start the level you’re on all over again, so just don’t die. (Unless you got a game over and you only had one playable character, you can keep your items I'm not that evil :)) The only way to get the character back is to complete the level your on, find a very rare item that brings them back, or you know, get a game over.
