Haha, I guess you already know what's coming ;D I'll take Duke for the Character Bingo <3
I AM SO NORMAL ABOUT DUKE DEVLIN YOU GUYS I SWEAR
Tumblr media
i almost circled "canon isn't real if you don't look at it" because I have a hard time with how mean he is in his first appearance in the anime, but honestly, that sass and attitude is so integral to him

Is leverage redemption worth watching? I love Leverage but idk if i could enjoy the show if hardison isn't in most episodes or if the reboot sells out in some way.
okay so I showed up to this ask like four months late with a smoothie so I'm sorry about that BUT
does redemption have it's flaws? yes, I will be the first to admit that!
however, as someone who deeply loves leverage, the characters and what the show stands for, I still can find myself enjoying redemption.
there's one post that's in my drafts talking about the differences between the og and redemption and the so-called universe physics (how logic works in both shows and how they are the same/differ) and there are definitely some differences. there are some really good posts comparing them in the tags and I'll try to tag them as watch redemption when they come up!
I'm going to be really honest right now and say that (no shade) I feel like redemption s1-2 were lacking because john rogers was not a main writer for them. devlin and the others are great and know their stuff, but redemption was missing some of the grit (balanced with everything else) that the original run had. redemption is more fun and lighthearted (where the og was still fun and had comedic elements but also had a more jaded perspective). I think part of that change is the absence of nate as a character and what he brought to the table, but the other part of that is very much the way the show is written overall
I have seen some criticism about parker being a caricature of what she was in the original run (ex: how she goes to a child's psychologist and uses puppets sometimes, is overtly weird, more loud about stuff, etc) BUT I will say that I think there's some nuance to that
I don't think the child psychiatrist thing is infantalizing- some methods of therapy work for people more than others and that is me speaking as someone who works in mental health. if play therapy and stuff like that work for you as an adult, good for you! whatever works for you is more than enough the overtly and loudly being weird thing I really do think can be taken either way. in the original run part of parker's character progression was that she was learning how to interact with people normally (or at least more efficiently), but her being more out about that now can be taken as she is more comfortable in her skin and acting like she wants because she is surrounded by people who love and support her. maybe she doesn't want to (or have to!) mask all the time and I don't see a problem with that
HOWEVER! there are certain criticisms that are related to her characterizations and overlaps with her autism and I don't want to speak over the autism community about those aspects and how they have manifested in her character in redemption so I'm leaving it there
as for the hardison being absent aspect- I was REALLY afraid of that at first BUT the loss isn't so deeply impactful when you have characters like breanna and harry added to the mix. I went in ambivalent about harry and excited to have breanna (a canon queer) joining the team, but I have come to love and cherish both of them dearly and wouldn't want to replace them or lose them as characters in this found family ensemble. I think the writers handled aldis' packed schedule really well and even though he isn't there in most episodes, his presence is still very much around. parker and eliot talk about him and reference him when he's gone. so do sophie and breanna, even harry. he isn't on the screen but the relationships he's formed with the other characters and the impact he's had on them is very evident.
there are some takes from users about whether or not the ot3 was queerbait, un-canoned, etc in redemption. I have a lot of thoughts about it and a lot of them are incomprehensible but what I can say is that I have renewed hopes for the progression and canon development of their relationship now that john rogers is back as the main writer for s3

What made the characters fall for the listener?
Like what made albus (or devlin) like faithful, or yarg’ywnn (name spelt wrong sorry) fall for (whatever the listeners name was 😭)
(Or zed fall for the guardian)
Was it something they did? Or was it something they said orrrrr?
Zed is the easiest to explain because it's mostly superficial. He's a young man who's in the presence of a beautiful woman. He's smitten, and he loves her. He also desperately wants to impress her.
Faith gave Albus the one thing no one in his life has ever given to him. She is someone who truly cares about him. Someone who will not watch him crumble and fall. Even though a lot of people don't like her, I think their romance is sweet.
Devlin fell for faith because of the experiences they shared together. They both were each other's emotional foil in the mantle. It's reasonable to assume they'd fall first each other, and that's just what Devlin did!
As for Yargwynn, well, he's always had a thing for aliens, lol! Okay, okay, he actually fell for Arkov's emotional calm. She's been his rock, similar to Albus, but rather than being super empathetic, she's just naturally calm and level-headed.
This is, of course, just my personal canon. For you, it might be a different reason.

got any gwevin headcanons?
Tumblr media
here ya go!! sorry if i have less of these my gwevin thoughts are borderline incomprehensible if youre not down w the liz lore.... most of my gwevin shit is so far divorced from canon theyre completely different lawl
-when gwen moves away to go to college kevin comes over to her house w toiletpaper and lightbulbs bc you never remember those when youre first moving out
-gwen actually distrusted kevin heavily when they first met because of their prior meeting but was civil and friendly because she'd been burned before by being outright rude to people she distrusted. this in turn made him obsessed with her bc people are nice to him so rarely
-kevin actually wears more makeup than gwen (whos more of a tinted lip balm and moisturizer type girl) so he does her makeup for special events
-kevin and gwen don't actually ever get married in the series (this is actually canon) and i think its bc even though kevin has a longer lifespan than someone like ben, he'll still die long before gwen does, and shes scared of leaving someone she loves behind. both kevin and gwen r very against the 'saintity of marrige' as well bc of their families so they just stay unmarried for the rest of their lives. they get ben to be a surrogate for devlin though :))
-kevin is very empathetic but not very good at social cues, so he often does things that he feels will help/ empathize with people but doesnt understand the signals they're putting out, if that makes sense, so he'll often try to be affectionate with gwen when she's mad at him and it will just make things worse. gwen knows he's trying to be loving but her inherently judgemental nature makes her go through this endless cycle of confronting bad assumtions about him and trying to knock them down for the sake of the relationship. kevin sees this and appreciates that shes trying, but still feels like hes not worthy of her effort. theyll get through it dont worry
-gwen is a fucking HORRIBLE driver, and has crashed cars multiple times including kevins, but he forgives her no matter what bc she just makes big eyes at him and he forgets that he was mad at her
-gwen grabs kevin's padlock to yank him down to talk to her. 99% of the time this cuts off the air in his windpipe but he gives zero shits because he gets to look at her face to face
there you go!! again, this stuff is purely brain speculation lol. i hate the heteronormative fixer upper type trope so much but theyre so cute i cant resit it, so i make up shit in my head lawl. gwevin is only good when gwen is the boyfriend and kevin is the girlfriend methinks. thanks for the ask!!

Ben 10 headcanons because nothing in this show is ever explained (this is ignoring the omniverse retcons)
1: Kevin has had at least three mentioned plumber badges, Magister Labrid’s that was later confiscated, the one he received on duty from Magister Prior Gilhil and the one that originally belonged to his father. Due to all the switching around of badges, it’s a little confusing to figure which one he uses. I like to think he uses his father’s, which I believe his mother would have kept, and requested it be repurposed as his.
2: The crew has stated not all alternate versions of Gwens are anodites, so I believe the “spark” Verdona talked so much about was unlocked by Gwen’s practice of magic that she started when she was 10.
3: Kevin, due to having a job and his own apartment, is most likely emancipated. His mother probably agreed because she’s just grateful to have her son back and nothing else.
(Warning sad and dark headcanon ahead!!)
4: Kevin’s hatred for his stepfather always seemed somewhat… unjustified to me. I had the idea that maybe Harvey, well…abused him, whether physically or emotionally, and that his mother never knew (sorry). This could further explain why he ran away and was under the belief he was kicked out and unwanted.
5: In the future Kevin and Gwen are married and Devlin is there, but, for some reason (probably complicated life stuff) Gwen is Devlin’s stepmom instead of his bio one. But he still calls her “mom” and he’s still her son. (Also Gwen and Kevin probably didn’t have any kids together out of fear of what would happen if an anodite were to try to carry an osmosian)
6: another future one: Ben’s love life is canonically a train wreck. So I picture he’s had two divorces, one with Julie and one with Kai. Kenny came from the second marriage.
7: Future Ben has a Dad Bod no I don’t take criticism.
8: Gwen started liking Kevin (even though when they first met again as teenagers he was literally running guns) because the stress and pressure of being Little Miss Perfect got to her and this was her way of breaking away from that. Call it an extreme teenage rebellion that resulted in a wholesome relationship.
9: At one point Mrs. Levin and Harvey got divorced (I personally wouldn’t stay married to the guy that ran my son out of the house)

AUSTIN, Texas - A federal judge handed down a sentence for the man who set an Austin synagogue on fire two years ago.
Members of Congregation Beth Israel looked on as Franklin Sechriest was sentenced to 10 years for setting fire to their synagogue on Halloween 2021. Sechriest pleaded guilty to federal arson and hate crime charges in April.
"The staff, as well as members of the congregation, have been living with this for two years. And we're still living with it because the sanctuary is still not usable. There's still yellow tape across the doors and the doors are still burned," said Senior Rabbi Steven Folberg. "But I think that for myself and for some of us, there is a sense of relief that we can move forward, that this piece of this is done, and that we don't have to keep revisiting it and revisiting it in the same way that we have."
In the courtroom, Sechriest could be seen throughout the morning looking back at his parents and mouthing, "I’m sorry."
He apologized to the court as well, saying, "I will never forgive myself." He also promised to continue to "atone" for his actions and denounce the "evil ideology."
According to his defense attorney, that ideology was the result of indoctrination by online hate groups that Sechriest had stumbled upon while seeking community during COVID.
His defense attorney also asked for leniency due to Secriest’s diagnosed medical issues, which include Autism and OCD.
"I don't think that any of those issues had anything to do with what he did," said Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew Devlin after the sentencing. "He made voluntary choices. He made intelligent choices on his end, and he engaged in a lot of premeditation, a lot of planning, and it was very deliberate."
The judge ultimately agreed though he expressed empathy toward those struggling with mental health and their parents.
"There is nothing more that you could have done," said Judge David Ezra, addressing Sechriest's parents. "It wasn’t your fault."
However, Judge Ezra said the biggest factor in his decision was the danger he felt Sechriest could be to others going forward.
"We applaud the decision to sentence the Congregation Beth Israel arsonist to 10 years in prison," said Jackie Nirenberg, regional director for ADL Austin, in a statement shared with FOX 7. "We are grateful to the FBI San Antonio office and the Austin Fire Department for their thorough investigation into the incident, and the prosecutors from the US Attorney's Western District of Texas office for sending a message that hate and antisemitism will not be tolerated in our community."
Sechriest is not eligible for parole and will have three years of supervised release after he completes his sentence. The judge is also going to recommend that Sechriest be committed to a federal medical facility.

"I'll take care of you." "It's dreadful work." "Not to me, not if it's you." -quote from Anne Carson, Euripides
Wow, Saya writing for a different fandom? What is happening to her? This comes from Good Boy Audios on YouTube, from his Bastard Warrior Series, which is literally so so so good. It is M4F, just keep that in mind, though not everything is. He has a very good series as well that is M4A, check that out too if you want!
Albus York x Faithful
cw: Faithful uses she/her pronouns, and her real name is Faith, mentioned once near the end.
Lots of fluff, Albus mentions briefly that he's got some trauma, but he doesn't go into it in detail. Let me know if there are more that I should note, pls and thx :)
Faithful stood on the deck of the ship, staring up at the dark sky above her. Albus had said she’d miss the stars, but it wasn’t until now, under the murky sky of the mantle, that she understood what he’d meant. The horizon of distant, glowing light stared back at her like it saw all her secrets, as if it could reach inside her chest and pull the words from the darkest parts of her heart. Maybe she could pretend there were stars in the sky—maybe that would help the swirling she felt inside. They’d barely caught respite since leaving the Wall of Dawn, having barely a moment of silence on the ship. Between Devlin being possessed and Albus recovering from firing himself out of that cannon, and then being drugged to the point of paralysis, she always had something to deal with, help take care of, or handle. And though she was more than happy to help her friends with their problems, it was the quiet moments like this that made her miss the quiet of the church.
Faithful didn’t miss the church, don’t misunderstand. Perhaps it was only in this moment that she craved that silence—now, when things were crazier than ever, and would only continue to get crazier the further towards the core they traveled.
Against the hull of the ship below, the waves below thrummed rhythmically – like a soft lullaby, rocking her softly in and out of her thoughts. What would their future hold? Would their mission fail, or would they beat the odds and succeed? Would she really be able to get off world once all this was done? Did she even want to anymore? What would she be leaving behind if she did? Her head swirled with thoughts that conflicted in every way she could imagine, spiraling her head and heart until it was one lump sum of scenarios that gave her a migraine.
Maybe that’s why she didn’t realize someone was beside her until he spoke up.
“Missing the stars, Faithful?” Albus said, eyes up at the sky.
Faithful turned to him instantly, taken back by his sudden presence, and even more so by the fact that he wasn’t looking at her. It was almost like he was imagining the stars too, then.
“You frightened me.” She said softly, hand over her heart. He still didn’t look at her, so she turned her attention back to the sky.
“Sorry. Didn’t mean to.” Faithful snuck a glance over, but he remained focused on the sky. “You were just so caught up in looking up, figured I’d come see what it was all about.”
She turned back and faced the rail where they stood, shoulders almost touching, but not quite. It had been a few days since his intoxicated confession, though he didn’t remember what he’d said to her. The secret she now carried, of knowing both her shipmates thought about her in that way, was another swirling thought in the mass of her brain. Sometimes she wished she’d never heard him say what he said, (or what Kravitas had said either), but other times… when she was beside him like this, when they could sit in silence for a moment and just enjoy each other’s company. He was, well…
Likable.
“Not much to look at, I’m afraid. You were right when you told me there were no stars here.” She smiled softly, and then added, “Hadn’t wanted to believe you then. But, you know.”
Albus finally turned his gaze to the sister. “I wish I hadn’t been either. But yeah, I get what you mean.”
Faithful was too afraid to turn her face to meet his gaze. She wasn’t sure if she’d be able to keep her face a normal color if she did look, and so she continued to keep her eyes towards the sky. The swirling in her mind didn’t stop; but it did slow a little, right here next to Albus, listening to the lull of the waves below, his warmth so close to her skin. She could almost fall asleep right there next to him, if she gave in to the feelings she had in her heart.
After a moment, Albus turned back to the distance, having not caught the sight of the sister. They stayed like that for a while, almost shoulder to shoulder, on the edge of the ship that carried them towards their fates.
“So what are you doing—”
“What are your plans for—”
The two finally made eye contact, before looking away quickly, as if ashamed to have talked over the other. Albus reached for his neck, while Faithful picked at the hem of her sleeve, waiting for the other to speak.
“Go ahead.” Albus finally said, reaching back towards the rail, glancing at her again, but returning his gaze towards the horizon where it had previously been.
Faithful smiled quickly again, trying not to let him see the blush on her cheeks. “I was just going to ask what you were doing out here. Shouldn’t you be in bed?”
She meant that in more ways than one: he still needed rest from being attacked by Kravitas—and despite his complaining that “he could sleep when he was dead,” Faithful wanted him to get some restful sleep for once. It didn’t seem like he often had a secure place to sleep at night, and for once, she wanted him to have that, knowing he’d be watched over and safe through the night.
“Couldn’t sleep.” He answered simply, and Faithful huffed to herself. Well, so much for wanting a good night’s rest for him.
“You don’t have to guard the ship twenty four/seven you know. We can take turns.”
Albus chuckled then, a deep and hearty sound that quelled the swirling a bit more. “Yeah, well. After what happened to me last time I was asleep, I think I’m gonna need some time before I start trusting my surroundings again.”
Faithful understood that. Her journey had been one surprise after another. That was, after all, sort of the same thing keeping her up right now too. “Are you saying you don’t trust me?” She teased.
Albus turned, and caught her eyes, holding the look for longer now.
Albus huffed, this one more of a chuckle. “Oh please, you? Faithful, I couldn’t trust you as far as I could throw you. And that’s pretty far—Ow! Hey, stop that!”
Faithful punched him in the arm, getting him twice in the same spot for good measure.
“All right, all right, I concede.” He teased back, rubbing the spot on her shoulder where she’d hit him. “Jesus woman, you know how to throw a punch. Who taught you how to do that?”
She smiled, but shook her head at the same time. “Some bastard I hired to do a job for me.”
Albus didn’t know what to say to that, so he chuckled under his breath, straightening out his posture and rubbing away the pain in his arm. “Just some bastard, huh? Well damn, tell the guy how you really feel, eh?”
Faithful’s eyes widened at his joke, not that he saw it, before she turned a bright shade of pink. She turned her face back towards the sky, hoping he didn’t see just how red she was. It was pretty dark out here after all, maybe she’d get lucky. Thank the stars, it didn’t seem that he did, only turning back out to match her. It was funny how they could do that: go from teasing and getting along so well to absolute silence in a matter of seconds. It didn’t seem awkward—at least, not to her—though she didn’t know if Albus felt the same. She hoped he did. He was easy to get along with.
Well, when he wasn’t an unbearable walking innuendo.
“Anyway, I didn’t mean to disturb your show, I’ll leave you to it.”
He turned, like he was going to walk away, but Faithful spoke up before he could take another step. “Wait!”
Albus, curiosity piqued, turned to look at her over his shoulder. “Yes?”
She paused, surprised at herself for having spoken up when she did. “You never finished what you had started to say earlier. Were you going to ask something?”
Albus stayed quiet for a moment, not moving, not answering. Faithful was afraid she’d said something insensitive again, though they didn’t know what.
“First of all, Faithful, I always finish, don’t start thinking that I don’t.”
She exhaled, a light laugh behind it, and shook her head at what he was implying, tilting her head a bit in the hopes of seeing his expression in the dim light of the ship. She couldn’t make out much, but she noted a pinched brow, and a tight jaw. Was he upset at her?
“Albus, I—”
“I’m sorry that I shoved you.” He said suddenly.
She blinked. Okay… that’s not what she expected him to say.
“There’s a part of my past that… I don’t talk about much. To anyone.” He cleared his throat. He still hadn’t turned around, but he was saying most of this over his shoulder, like he wanted her to hear. It felt like sharing a secret, like she was finally seeing into the man she’d been around for so long. She silently urged him to go on, hoping to learn more about him, even if it was something he rather wouldn’t talk about. Knowing more about the hidden sides of Albus York felt like knowing hidden secrets of the world.
“I still can’t talk about a lot of it. Can’t even think about a lot of it, really, but… with you, I—”
He stopped there, as if he was going to say more but unknowing of how to say it. Faithful lifted her arm out, like she was going to touch him, but hesitated, afraid of spooking him away, or worse.
“When I’m with you, I feel like I can finally breathe. Like all that shit inside me has a way to get out, like you opened up a vent or something.”
Faithful dropped her hand, content to just listen to him.
“That doesn’t mean I can talk about it, still. That will take a lifetime to get out, maybe more, but… I don’t know…”
He shifted his foot, and turned to look at her. “It wasn’t personal, okay? The shove, the attitude, the distance. It wasn’t because I was upset at you. Please don’t think that it was.”
She wasn’t sure what to say—if anything should be said at all. Albus didn’t apologize for who he was, he never had, and he said he never would. But here he was, apologizing all the same. Was it possible that she had the same effect on him and he did on her? The uncanny ability to calm the swirling of her thoughts? Perhaps, for Albus, it was the quelling of his heart? The one he kept locked away and guarded always, the one no one actually got to see.
Maybe they were getting to see a bit of it now. It was captivating, despite the pain he was feeling. He’d likely pretend that none of this happened tomorrow: probably bring his guard back up, reinforce his walls, and act like he hadn’t bared his chest for her to see in this moment. But none of that mattered to her then. It was the intimacy of the moment that kept her there, rooted in place as Albus stared back at her, eyes burning into her soul, and hers into his.
“I’d started to ask you what your plans were after all this was over. After we’d saved the kid, and stopped your brother. But I’m not sure I’m ready for that answer yet, so… for now, I’ll stick with apologizing, and repairing that bridge with you that I almost completely destroyed.”
A sort of soft silence stretched between them, filling the space in a way only silence could. She was grateful for that, and for his words.
“Thank you.” She finally said, remembering to blink and to breathe again. “Thank you for apologizing, and thank you for opening up to me. I know how difficult that can be. So, thank you, Albus.”
The man before her turned to face her fully, now standing almost chest to chest, looking down at her. Her breath caught in her throat, and for a moment, she thought he might kiss her. Weirder still, she almost wanted him to.
But when he didn’t, moving to walk away, she pulled him into an embrace instead. She buried her face in his chest, inhaling the scent of him, while he stood there, arms wide around her, unsure what to do. The embrace had caught him off guard, first of all, and second, he didn’t really know why she was doing it. In his eyes, he hadn’t done anything to elicit a hug from her.
Eventually, his arms and hands wrapped around her body, and he hugged her back. Faithful smiled into his chest, grateful that he returned the gesture. She didn’t want to let him go, and it didn’t seem like he did either. They stood there, wrapped in each other’s arms, letting the storm inside the both of them quell in the presence of the other, until the faintest bits of light began peeking over the horizon—the first signs of dawn.
“Well Faithful, it’s getting pretty early, we probably should try to get at least a bit of sleep before Vinny tries to force us into Forgemaster training 101.”
Faithful chuckled at that, finally releasing her grip on his body. He let her go too, but neither missed the way their fingers trailed along the skin of the other, as if begging not to separate, to not let go. Albus cleared his throat, and stepped away, and Faithful did the same, straightening out her gown, and heading in. He followed shortly after her, trailing her until they got to their respective rooms, standing at the doorway to each. Albus watched Faithful open the door to her room, and she watched him stand in the doorway of his, neither fully crossing the threshold, as if this spell they were under would be cut off if they did.
Faithful finally spoke up. “Thank you for accompanying me tonight. I feel much more at ease now, knowing I had someone to share the night with.”
Albus only nodded his head, agreeing with her. “Come on now, Faithful, don’t get too sappy on me. I might think you’re trying to get into my bed or something.”
Faithful shook her head, trying but ultimately failing to keep in her laughter. It was becoming more and more of a tempting offer. Albus took her head shake to be the end, moving further into his room. “Goodnight, Faith. Sleep well.”
She nodded. “Goodnight, Albus.” And just like that, the spell was broken.
But the magic remained. Something was there that hadn’t been before. And as both leaned against the door to their rooms, silently longing to be with the other again, they felt it in the air. That conversation was long from over, and their relationship was too. Faithful smiled, falling onto her bed, sliding slowly under the covers, and flicking off the light.
Albus was in love with her. And maybe, just maybe… she was in love with him too.

Mediation - Chapter 1 - TIGmas Day #9
Let's keep the ball rolling with @thedeadsingforme's TIGmas request! Sorry for the delay - this is a chatty bunch and writing the scenes is taking far longer than I'd anticipated.
The Prologue is available here, with this story's summary and tw's at the top (I don't want to repeat the same clutter on every chapter, though chapter-specific tw's will be included).

Mediation
Chapter 1: Deviation
---
 – 1996 –
Reader’s POV:
“Where’s the file for the Whitman case?”
Terry wordlessly hands you the file, not looking up from his computer. He’d been on edge all day today, and you’re not sure why. You two have whittled down the number of cases between you, and crime in the city overall had dropped to a somewhat manageable level. You bite the inside of your cheek; the years had taught you when to press Terry about something and when to let sleeping dogs lie.
You continue to work in relative silence, the soft jazz music between you as always. A group of officers comes in from walking their beats, some of the last remnants of the old guard – those that had survived the absolute clusterfuck of 1993. Dylan, Frankie, Devlin… people that had either gone dirty or gotten caught in the crossfire.
You’d been undercover at the time, and hadn’t resurfaced until after everything had gone down, barely being there for the final remnants of the aftermath. Terry had been… well, a mess, really, though that was no surprise. You had left the majority of his healing up to Anna, his girlfriend at the time, knowing that he was unlikely to seek comfort in a police officer considering what had happened. It had given you time to put together the pieces of what had happened without having to bring Terry into it.
Sometimes you’re still half-surprised he agreed to keep working with you when he had come back from his department-mandated vacation.
The officers approach your workspace on their way to the kitchen, and you overhear snippets of their conversation:
“–reduced his sentence when they found out Devlin had put some of his shit on him–”
“–served his time, paid his dues, got out a few days ago–”
“–Ewing called me last night, wanted to see if a bunch of us could get together–”
Your eyes immediately dart to Terry watching his face harden as he glares at nothing. That would certainly explain his mood, then…
“Top up your coffee for you? I’m heading in there anyway,” you say brightly, pretending that you haven’t heard anything unusual. Terry gives you a jerky nod in response, his jaw clenched, and you pick up his mug on your way into the kitchen.
The years had not helped Terry let go of his grudge against Cash Ewing, not even when it had come out that his more severe, violent charges had been fabricated by Devlin to cover his own ass. If anything, his anger had only simmered over the years, to the plot that any reference to the other man was enough to sour Terry’s mood. He had been hurt by Frankie’s betrayal, but somehow Cash’s had hurt him far more deeply. You presume it was because it was the first betrayal, and that the two of them had been best friends in addition to partners.
Kind of like the two of you were now.
“Hey, L/N! You going to Hank’s tonight?” one of the officers asks as you enter the kitchen, busying yourself with making coffee.
“What’s going on at Hank’s?” you ask innocently, though you can guess.
“Cash Ewing is finally a free man! We’re celebrating!”
“You never met the guy, did you Y/N?”
“No, I was his replacement. What’s the deal with him?” you ask, desperate to hear an opinion about the man that wasn’t tainted by anger.
“Well, he looks like McCain, only 10 years older and half as mature,” one chimes in with a chuckle.
“Obviously he can’t come back to work, but he’s moved into a new place in town and is looking for work. Seems like he’s got his life back on track, all things considered.”
You hum noncommittally as you pour the fresh coffee. You’re happy for the man, truly – everyone deserved a second chance, and he had done his time and seemed to have maintained good relationships with his colleagues (with one notable exception).
“Always nice to hear the system works. Hope you all have fun!” You nod to the men on your way out, hoping that you’ve given Terry enough time to recover from the news. He gives you a quiet ‘thank you’ as you place his mug on his desk, so presumably the worst has passed. You take your seat at your own desk, content to leave him to his thoughts. He would come back to himself fully in due time; he always did.
“Do you wanna do something tonight?” he asks you suddenly, and as you look over at him you can see the thinly veiled pain in his expression. Your heart goes out to Terry – for all his bravado, your years working together had taught you that he still had a soft heart buried beneath it, and that he craved affection and connection with others even as he tried to keep people at arm’s length. There was a reason he hadn’t been serious with anyone since Anna, and that was almost two years ago now.
“Sure,” you reply casually, not wanting him to put his walls up; you know he will if he feels vulnerable. “Deja Vu, or what were you thinking?”
“I was thinking Hank’s, actually.”
You do some quick thinking, weighing your options. You know you probably should tell Terry that Cash will be there, and that when you do he’ll call the whole thing off. He’s made his feelings about forgiveness with respect to Cash Ewing very clear over your time together.
…But maybe if he came face-to-face with his former friend, he’d have to deal with all this. You’re not expecting him to make up with the man, or even have an amicable conversation with him, but at the very least, he would have some closure. You desperately want Terry to move past this, knowing how heavily it’s weighed on him over the past five years. Hoping you won’t regret your decision, you give him a warm smile.
“Hank’s sounds perfect.”
Tumblr media
Cash’s POV:
He’s nervous as he finishes another beer.
Everyone that had shown up tonight had welcomed him back into the fold with open arms, but he’d expected that. These were the same guys that had returned his letters, given him the benefit of the doubt, even visited him in prison on a few occasions.
But the one he most wanted – no, needed – forgiveness from hadn’t shown.
He can’t say he’s surprised.
Terry McCain had a select set of morals that he stuck to like glue. He saw things in black and white, and refused to look at things more deeply than that. The law was right, crime was wrong. You were either with him or against him; there was no middle ground.
Apparently their years apart hadn’t changed that.
Cash had clung to the memories of two people during his five long years behind bars: His mother and Terry McCain. It was hard to say who his actions had disappointed more. His every waking moment had been spent trying to better himself, to figure out how to make amends, both in the future and while he was still behind bars.
Once his mother had died, three years into his sentence, his need to redeem himself in his former partner’s eyes had become something of an obsession. His mother had gone to her grave before he could look her in the eyes and ask for forgiveness, and he’ll be damned if he lets the same thing happen with the man he still considers a brother.
He twists the silver horseshoe ring on his finger, a gift from the late Mrs. McCain. Terry had brought him around every St. Patrick’s Day, and the older woman had adored him immediately, pleased that her son had a capable man watching his back at work. She was more overtly affectionate than his own mother had been, and had gifted him the ring to welcome him into the family. She’d told him it was a symbol of good luck to keep him safe, a thank you for doing the same for her son.
Unfortunately, it hadn’t saved him from himself.
“Hey man, I gotta get going. It was great to see you again – don’t be a stranger, alright?”
Cash claps the officer on the back, giving him a curt nod by way of dismissal, turning back to his drink. The novelty of his return had apparently worn off, his former coworkers heading home or moving to their own discussions, likely about work. He wasn’t privy to such conversations anymore, yet another consequence for the poor choices of his past.
The front door opens, and through the throng of officers leaving the bar he sees the unmistakable figure of his best friend, tucked away into a long, dark coat, a female officer at his side. The short woman manages to keep his attention as they walk over to a booth, though her eyes glance over at him more than once.
So, you know who he is, and what that means for Terry.
He lets the two of you be for the moment, considering his next move. The presence of a woman could either help or hinder him – Terry’s mother had drilled into him the importance of behaving oneself in front of women, which could temper a potentially explosive reaction. On the other hand, Terry tended to be about overzealous when it came to protecting women, especially those he considered ‘his.’ While he’s uncertain of the extent of your relationship – his eyes look over at the pair of you, and he notes the way that you’re positioned in the booth: close, but with some distance between you, suggesting a trusting but not necessarily romantic dynamic – he thinks he has to risk it. He had the element of surprise, and if he passed up this opportunity, who knows when he’d be in the same room as Terry again?
He takes a seat at the bar, waiting for the bartender to come over.
“Hey, Henry. Do me a favour and send a couple beers to that table over there?” he asks, sliding enough bills across the counter to include a sizeable tip for the man. Henry nods, cracking open a couple of bottles and heading over to the corner booth.
Cash’s hand tightens around his own drink, his watchful eyes following his peace offering to its recipient. The drinks land on the table, and a few words from Henry have two pairs of eyes looking over at him, one cold and the other appraising.
He takes that as his cue.
Taking a deep breath, he braces himself for an onslaught of violence, anger, and accusations as he makes his way over to the duo, stopping just a few feet away from the table. He gives the woman a onceover, noticing the tension in her shoulders, and nods politely to her before turning his attention to Terry.
“Terry McCain. It’s been a long time,” he says softly, trying to ease them into conversation. Terry says nothing, his jaw clenched shut and his blue eyes blazing. He hasn’t touched his drink, and neither has his partner. He bites back a sigh, having expected the silent treatment. He supposes it’s better than a more violent alternative.
He turns his focus to the woman sitting with Terry; he’s fairly certain focusing on you will provoke Terry enough to force him to speak. Running a hand through his grey hair – he’d been out long enough now for it to grow out a little more than his prison-mandated buzzcut – he gives you a sheepish grin.
“Sorry to interrupt. I don’t think we’ve met; I’m Cash Ewing,” he says, extending a large, rough hand for you to shake.
“I know who you are,” you reply bluntly, your eyes flitting over to Terry whose own gaze is glued to the table. He watches you bite your lip, your brow creased in thought, and he wonders what he’s in for. He doesn’t blink as you look into his eyes – not challenging you, but letting himself be vulnerable – and after a long moment, your gaze softens a bit, a hint of a smile visible at the corners of your mouth.
“I’m Detective Y/N L/N, Terry’s partner,” you introduce yourself almost shyly, standing in stark contrast to your initial tone and the way you’re shaking his hand now. You’re an interesting little bundle of contradictions, aren’t you?
“Don’t bother with him, Y/N,” Terry sneers, still refusing to look up at him. It’s an old trick of Terry’s, Cash remembers – a way to avoid his conscience getting the better of him. Terry had always been unable to look at the face of someone suffering without doing everything in his power to fix it. He’d always been too much of a bleeding heart for a cop.
“Maybe we should…” you start, and he thinks he might have an ally in you yet, but your words die in your throat the moment Terry looks up at you.
“We’re not wasting time on this dirtbag. Let’s get outta here,” he says abruptly, sliding out of the booth and shoving past him. Cash manages to catch his shoulder, trying to hold him in place without putting any real force behind the gesture.
“Terry, can I just–”
“No. I’ve got nothing to say to you, and there’s nothing I wanna hear.”
Terry shakes off Cash’s hand and walks away without another word, his back ramrod straight as he storms out the door, you trailing after him at a distance. Good, you knew Terry well enough to give him some space.
He slumps into the now-abandoned booth, picking up one of the untouched beers and taking a swig.
That could’ve gone better.
He’d known this was going to be difficult – the last five years had been proof enough of that – but if Terry was completely unwilling to listen it may be a lost cause.
No.
He can’t let himself believe that; it would destroy all of the progress he’s made to get himself together. Terry would hear him out, eventually.
And he has nothing but time.
Sighing, he pulls the other abandoned bottle over to him even as he continues to nurse the first. No sense in it going to waste.
“I thought you bought that for me.”
You’ve come back into the bar, your small body leaning up against one end of the booth as you give him a nervous smile. He finds himself straightening up, looking at you with interest. Had you come with a message from Terry? It wasn’t as good as the man hearing him out himself, but he’ll take what he can get at this point.
“These drinks were for two people sitting in this booth,” he says, nodding towards the seat across from him. There is only the briefest moment of hesitation before you join him, surveying him from across the table. He slides the other bottle over to you, trying to get a read on you as you snatch the bottle up and take a long drink.
Small, cute, and he gets the sense you’ve got quite a mouth on you… it would come as no surprise to him if you were more than just Terry’s partner. He’d always liked having a firecracker he could tame and protect.
“So, to what do I owe the pleasure?” he asks, trying not to let his discomfort show. He doesn’t know what you want, you’re already biased against him, and his years locked away surrounded by nothing but male criminals had really impacted his conversation skills, especially when a beautiful woman was involved.
But he would stay focused, keep his eyes on the prize.
“I’m here to talk to you.”
“Don’t tell me McCain is sending his girlfriend in to do his dirty work,” he teases, wanting to see how best to rile you up. It usually sped the communication process along, often with a bit more truth to it.
“Girlfriend?” you echo incredulously, your nose scrunching up in distaste at the suggestion.
“No? What are you then, just his work wife?” Cash jokes, looking at you with twinkling eyes as he takes another sip of his drink.
“Yeah, well, his last ‘work wife’ apparently had something on the side,” you reply pointedly, arching an eyebrow at him. He snorts out a laugh, the beer threatening to come out his nose, and you snicker as you watch him struggle to breathe. You’re quick, he’ll give you that.
“Touche,” he wheezes, and you offer him a pleased, smug smile in return. Once his breathing is back under control, your smile fades into a stern expression.
“Look, I care about Terry. He’s not just my partner, he’s my best friend, and I’ve had to watch him go through a lot – first with you, then the whole Frankie and Devlin fiasco…”
Cash immediately starts to see red and has to fight to calm himself down. He clenches his fists under the table, blunt fingernails digging into his palms as he struggles to regulate his breathing. He would always hate himself for leaving Terry to go through that without him…
When he is able to regain his composure, he looks up to see that you have slid closer to him in the booth, looking concerned but not pitying, for which he is grateful.
“You alright?” you ask quietly, and again, there is a comforting lack of judgement in your tone. He nods in response, gesturing for you to continue.
“Right. The point is… Terry’s trust in people is at an all-time low. I’m surprised he hasn’t turned his back on me after everything he’s been through. Like it or not, you were the beginning of a long line of people he thought he could trust fucking him over.”
“Tell me something I don’t know,” Cash grumbles with a heavy sigh.
“He’s just as mad at himself. I think it’s clouding his judgement.”
That certainly makes him perk up, and you clearly notice, one side of your mouth curling into a smile at his visible hope.
“I think he blames himself for not being able to stop you doing what you did, not that he’d ever admit it. I mean, you know Terry, he’s a little –”
“Paranoid? Obsessive? Utterly unable to stop once he’s set his mind on something?” Cash offers, a pleasant warmth coursing through him as you let out a laugh. He’s missed casual conversation, and feels like something is clicking with you in particular. Maybe it’s your proximity to Terry, or the fact that he is actually able to talk about his best friend with someone other than a therapist for the first time in years. Either way, he finds himself warming up to you quickly.
“Something like that,” you agree. “The point is, he’s not going to make this easy on you, but I don’t think you should stop trying to get through to him.”
He cocks his head at you. “Do I seem like the type of guy who gives up on things?”
“I don’t make a habit of judging people before I get to know them, Mr. Ewing,” you say meaningfully, and he takes solace in the implication that you intended to judge him on his own merit rather than going off of Terry’s opinions of him.
“But based on what I’ve seen, you’re just as stubborn and thick-headed as our friend.”
Perhaps he shouldn’t be too optimistic about you.
“It’s been a long time since I’ve been out with a woman; is that what constitutes as flattery nowadays?”
He sees your lips twitch in amusement, but you don’t take the bait.
“Do you want my help or not, Ewing?”
“And what help exactly are you offering me, little lady?” he asks, immediately leaning away from you as your hand squeezes your drink in a death-grip.
“Do not call me that again,” you growl. He contemplates playing with fire – you seem like the type of person that’s fun to get a rise out of – but pushes past that desire, for now, at least.
“I apologize, Detective L/N,” he says, laying it on a bit thick. “Would being on a first name basis be acceptable to you?”
“As long as you don’t try pushing your luck with me… Cash.”
“I wouldn’t dream of it, Y/N,” he says innocently, looking up at you from beneath his lashes. Just because you were going to help him reconnect with Terry didn’t mean he couldn’t have fun with you, especially if you had been honest about not being intimately involved with your partner. It’s been a long time since he’s been with someone, and perhaps Terry would finally face him – not bad for a ‘two birds, one stone’ sort of outcome…
But the look you give him lets him know he’s not fooling you.
“I’ll do my best to convince Terry to give you a chance, but you’ve got to be patient. No more accosting him in public!”
The scolding tone you use to give him the warning nearly makes him laugh; it was adorable, really…
“Yes ma’am. Any other instructions for me? I can be quite accommodating,” he purrs suggestively, leaning towards you across with booth. You roll your eyes, polishing off your beer.
“You can cut that crap out right now,” you reply, sliding out of the booth, though he detects a clear lack of vitriol in your words – you’re rebuffing him to keep up appearances. “Otherwise we’ll be testing whether or not Terry is more amenable to hearing you out if I’ve beaten that pretty little face of yours to a pulp.”
“I’ve got a pretty face, huh?” he leers, unperturbed by your threat.
“Try not to get yourself into any trouble, alright Cash? That includes with me,” you say, ignoring his flirting and buttoning up your coat as you prepare to head out into the cold Chicago winter. “I’ll do my best with Terry, and I hope it all works out for you both.”
“Can I get your number? Just to check in on how things are going,” he tacks on hastily, seeing a stormy expression start to steal across your face. You sigh, looking up at him with a critical eye.
“No offense, Cash, but I can’t risk Terry seeing that we’re communicating before he comes around to the idea of talking to you himself. I may want the two of you to get over your issues, but he is my top priority. Understood?”
He keeps his eyes locked with yours as he slides out of the booth, looking down at you as he throws on his green jacket. To your credit, you don’t flinch or back down under his piercing gaze. He knows he’s intimidating; he’s had the last five years in particular to hone his ability to get people quaking in their boots. After a prolonged silence, he reaches his hand out towards you again.
“Do what you have to do, Y/N,” he says, pleased when you shake his hand. Your skin is soft, but your grip is firm.
“I’ve got nothing but time.”

kind of a halloween request I suppose? may I get headcanons on how the yugioh boys (seto, yami, yugi, joey, tristan, duke) would react to finding out their f! s/o was a werewolf (like the twilight kind that can shift on demand), when she has to protect them and has no choice but to reveal it? I think it would be interesting considering the whole yugi has a pharaoh who possesses him thing 😂
Oh nice I like werewolves 🖤🐺 sounds like a fun request. Happy October to you 🎃🎃 this was a lot of fun writing. I encourage others to make Halloween requests, yugioh or not.
Various Yugioh Boys x Female Werewolf Reader
Headcanons
Seto Kaiba, Yugi Muto, Yami Yugi, Joey Wheeler, Tristan Taylor, and Duke Devlin
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yami/Atem
Tumblr media
He found out you’re a werewolf during battle city. He was cornered by Marik's men and they weren’t looking for a duel. They were beaten by Yami fair and square but unfortunately for him they’re all sore losers.
It wasn’t looking good for him. He was surrounded by three men so he could only do so much against them. He’s 5’2 and 97 pounds.
Yami was getting beaten and doing all he could to protect the millennium puzzle.
You happened to see your beloved pharaoh in trouble and you couldn’t stand to see him get beaten so badly. Two men were holding him while the third was punching at Yami.
You transformed in a werewolf and howled to grab their attention. Upon your growls and razor sharp teeth shown the four were all petrified. You attack the men in robes with warning bites and growls. They ran for their lives in fear. A werewolf should be impossible yet here you are proving them wrong. Their fear and shock consumed them as they ran away with their tails between their legs.
Yami didn’t recognize you at first but he soon recognized you due to your clothing and eyes. As a werewolf you keep your height, hair, hair color, eye color, and voice. Your fur matches your hair and your clothing are the same as he seen before he began dueling.
"My queen, is it really you..?" Yami asked with his jaw dropped.
"Yes... it's me. I'm a werewolf. I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner. I was too afraid to. I wasn't sure how you would react."
Yami grabs your black clawed hands. Though razor sharp he shows no fear to you. He's giving you a reassuring smile.
"You should never fear speaking to me. I respect honesty but more importantly I respect you. Werewolf or not, you're still my queen."
You two hug and when Yami looks at you again you're transformed back into your human form. You both hold hands as you leave the alleyway.
Yugi Muto
Tumblr media
Yugi was in big trouble when dartz had his soul trapped and transferred it into a duel monster. Yugi stood as a soldier awaiting the next attack on Yami.
Of course you couldn't have this be. Dartz has trapped the souls of your friends and your beloved Yugi. All the commands given to him wasn't within his heart. He would never hurt his friends or allow them to get hurt. Yami had no choice but to duel Dartz holding the souls of his friends.
Having enough you transform into a werewolf to protect Yugi and your friends against Dartz. Everyone became shocked by your transformation and howl. Dartz never saw it coming as you lunge at him attacking with full force.
The duel ended but thanks to you defeating the lost king of Atlantis. Yami was shocked by your defeat towards Dartz. All the souls returned to their rightful place and Yugi was within your arms again.
You cry tears of joy squishing him into a hug with your werewolf strength. Poor Yugi was relieved to be back but he was having a hard time breathing against such strength. When you realized what was happening to him you let go of him, apologizing.
He didn't mind the hug but you could see in his eyes how happy he was to see you even as a werewolf. Out of everyone he was the most surprised but he was also the quickest to accept it.
Your eyes, clothing and hair style stayed the same. Though your body is covered in fur matching in color with your natural hair color you still look so beautiful to him.
"Yugi I'm sorry I didn't tell you. It should've been sooner but I couldn't find the courage to. I feared I would scare you. I realize I was wrong from the looks of your cute smile."
"You're right. I still love you sweetheart but I don't want any secrets between us."
"I understand Yugi. I love you."
"I'll always love you." He reassures while holding your clawed hand.
You explain to the others what happened after you transform back to your human form. You found the courage to thanks to your encouraging boyfriend and king of games. Everyone was happy to be reunited.
Seto Kaiba
Tumblr media
Kaiba was in some deep trouble at duelist kingdom. He was surrounded by men sent by Pegasus. Two of them were holding guns pointed directly at him. You knew Kaiba did all he could to try saving Mokuba but this was proving difficult.
You couldn't stand the thought of Kaiba getting shot at by bullets. He's reckless at times so you knew he would try running. You transform and growl loud enough to be compared to a lion. You threw their guns out of their hands in one swipe of your black razor sharp claws. They ran off not knowing what you were.
Kaiba knew it was you who saved him. His observant eyes recognizing your hair, eyes, and clothes. In your true form you look almost the same as your human self only you're covered in fur plus you have fluffy pointed ears and a tail.
"Seto you're okay! I was so worried you would be injured or worse!"
"I'm sorry I worried you.." He said in a soft tone. "Why didn't you tell me..?" He said with saddened blue eyes.
"I was afraid I'd scare you off.. that maybe you wouldn't want to date me anymore."
"I would never do that to you. You'll always be mine. You're my world."
You kiss Kaiba with your tail wagging. He kisses back eagerly. You explain to him you arrived to duelist kingdom to help him. You're equally as worried about Mokuba. You two head into the woods as you talk.
Joey Wheeler
Tumblr media
It was after school and Joey was getting robbed by a gang. It was a group of guys. Joey was out numbered and he earned the money in his wallet for his sister's surgery.
You were walking back home when you noticed the awful situation Joey was in. You saw him getting beaten by the brutes. You decide to transform and scare them off. Thankfully you did since you didn't want to fight. It wouldn't be fair since you're so powerful and you don't wish to hurt others unless its self defense.
The gang members didn't bother fighting. They ran off as you howl and chase them away.
Joey was on the ground wondering what had happened. He couldn't believe his eyes. He didn't realize it was you until you talk.
"Is it really you?"
"Yes Joey it's me."
He looked at you up and down at your werewolf form. Same outfit, hairstyle and eyes. He thought you looked cute as a werewolf and complimented you. You giggle kissing his cheek since he's adorable himself.
He asks why you didn't tell him and you said you were afraid of scaring him. He laughed it off and said you shouldn't be afraid of telling him anything.
"I love ya no matter what, sweetie." He reassured.
After you transformed back into your human form he walked you home and listened to you about your werewolf background.
Tristan Taylor
Tumblr media
Tristan was out on his motorcycle searching for Joey who had run after Mai. He had no idea Joey was currently dueling Valon.
Tristan had to get gas so he went off to a gas station. It was late at night so he no one was around as he was getting robbed by two men. He did his best to fight them off from stealing his wallet and keys.
You happened to be nearby since you were also searching for Joey. When you saw Tristan you screamed and decided you had no choice but to transform.
In your werewolf form you fought the two men. Tristan was speechless. When you said his name he knew it was you. He was unsure at first since he didn't think werewolves existed but who cares now that he knows he is dating one.
"Babe you're really a werewolf??"
"Yes, I'm sorry I didn't tell you the truth. I wanted to wait for the right time to tell you."
"I'm glad you weren't planning to keep it from me."
"And I'm glad you took the news so well." You kiss his cheek.
Tristan hugs you and expresses how his feelings for you don't change. He does comment how he thinks nothing else will surprise him since he's already seen so much in his lifetime.
Duke Devlin
Tumblr media
Duke got himself into a heated argument about dungeon dice monsters with a group of duelists from his school. They made fun of his game and insulted his looks as well. Clearly jealousy and hatred for his fame in the dueling community.
Insults soon turned to pushing then punches. The fight took place at the back of the school and it was after school when no one was around.
You heard the yelling and arrived to the scene in curiosity. As you suspected it was a fight but you didn't think your boyfriend would be involved! Four students were kicking him while he was on the ground.
You knew they wouldn't recognize you so you transformed. Maybe your human form wasn't any match against them but your true form was. You howled and growled matching in volume with a wolf. They suspected a wolf at first but when they realized it was a werewolf they all panicked.
You're glad you didn't have to resort to attacking them but you're sure you must've scared Duke. Looking over to him you notice he is still sitting on the ground. He is still perplexed by the situation. When you speak his green eyes widened.
"Duke please say something. Anything. I want to know what you think."
"I'm shocked werewolves exist.. but this doesn't change our relationship. I'm sure you had your reasons for keeping it from me." He smiles while standing up.
"Yes I waiting for the right time to tell you."
"I understand. I think you better change back before someone else might see you. Your secret is safe with me."
You transform back to a human but Duke was secretly a tiny bit sad by it since he found your werewolf form so cute.
You two walked to his car so he could drop you off home. His smile never faltered as he looked your direction. You're very happy he finally knows. During the drive you made sure to explain your werewolf background to him some more. As he was driving he held your hand the whole way home.

My thoughts on the series finale of Mayans…
I think we all agree this last season was rushed af. Most of the storylines were a discombobulated mess. Was it there greatest series ending? No. Was it the worst? Also no. There are some things I liked and A LOT I didn’t. Here’s my list of what I liked and how I wish some storylines went.
I agreed…
1.) With the way EZ died. Since he took over he was very much given dictator vibes. I enjoyed the way the club going all Julius Caesar to kill him. I also think we all knew that Angel was going to have a hand in EZ’s death since day one. (At least I did). There was always a Cain and Abel factor in there, even if Angel was reluctant to do so.
2.) Speaking of Angel, I did appreciate the fact he lived and got away with Maverick. The beach scene was honestly the best thing in the whole finale.
3.) Marcus/El Padrino getting out of the life and living the rest of his days with his family. He came a long way.
4.) Bottles and Nestor getting patched in. Though Nestor should’ve been patched awhile ago. I would have loved to see him as a full fledged member.
5.) Isaac dying. He was a great fucking villain, but he had to go. I wish Hope was the one who did it though, but I was okay with EZ being the one to do it.
… yeah that’s about it.
I disagreed…
1.) As much as I love Taza, he should’ve died and not be able to live his life as a nomad. Killing Riz was the start of all of this! Literally lead to the civil war between the Mayans, the war with the Sons, and the cartel. It should’ve been done back when the Mayans showed up in Santo Padre. I don’t understand how he got off scot free.
2.) Miguel, Ez, and Angel not knowing that they’re brothers! What was the point of all that if they were never going to find out? It should’ve been addressed a lot time ago in Season 3 or 4.
3.) Killing Sofia. I’m sorry, but this was bullshit to me. She didn’t know EZ worked with the Feds. If they’re going with the whole “she’s a liability” route, the same applies to Angel. I would have loved to see Angel take her and Sally. They could’ve both gone out, start a new life, and raise their kids together.
4.) NOT KILLING POTTER!! Omg this man is like a cockroach! Potter should’ve definitely been a goner and Miguel be the one to take him down with Devlin. Katie/Kody could have taken his place or Devlin a la Agent Stahl and haven them focus on the Mayans.
5.) Speaking of Devlin, if they were going to get Miguel out of the way, I would have loved to see Emily work out some sort of deal with her to ensure Miguel spends the rest of his life in prison and pull a double cross rather than kill him.
6.) Angel not knowing Luisa/Adelita is dead. I would’ve have loved a scene with Mini showing up somewhere and telling Angel everything. Well maybe minus the part where she was the one who killed her.
7.) If Isaac was going to die this whole time, why did Hope have to? We should’ve seen Hope and Letty halfway to Ohio or the Broken Saints take them in.
8.) ATF busting in and killing the whole charter!!! This would’ve been a great ending if it was just a season finale, not a series finale! We should’ve at least seen a few members (Gilly, Hank, Bottles, Nestor, and Guero being cuffed) .

Okay Iris' chapters shook my very core I'm not ready for Magnus' chapter. Although I have to say I love that LBAF 1 started with a Magnus chapter that was kind of a disaster and LBAF 3 ended with a Magnus chapter that everything went beautifully (cursed seashell and Marcus finding it aside). I hope you pull something like that with LBAF 5/6/7 (again-cursed seashell and cursed Devlins aside).
Iris fliring with a million years old warlock-taking after her uncle
I feel like Madeleine is too busy to be a good mother to Regine or that she leaves her alone a lot and I'm feeling kind of sorry for her🥺 (still don't know how I should feel about the Bellefleur women so I'm going for neutral for now)
Regine spying feels like something that will bring trouble😬
Okay I don't ever remember a couple in your fanfics getting butterflies for someone else, this Hermes-Iris situation makes me very worried about her and Malik in a sort of they could break up permanently kind of way
Okay reading about Iris thinking she fooled Hermes has me concerned that he's either playing her or getting obsessed with her to a dangerous point
Otherwise though, Iris' instinct gets 10/10 honestly, she suspects Kincaids gay, she believes he has a good soul, she doesn't like Madeleine for how she treats New York, she's the only one worried about Lucifer- she does take after her mother (only one with braincells in her generation's gang)
There are literally so many different plots going on at the same time I have a hard time keeping up , I have no idea how you do it (unless they're all connected👀)
I can see Kyle blaming Victoria for Kincaid being gay and turning on her or both of them turning on Kincaid
The Warlock Council mainly looking Other Max for time traveling kinda calms me because it means that Max isn't to blame, but they probably found him easier because Max leaves breadcrums with the blood selling so he is kinda to blame
Isn't the Other Counsil aware of Other Max time travelling? Don't they sense something wrong with the ley lines? Also, Other Magnus knows about it, does he just accept the danger Max brings to the world?
I have an awful feeling that bot Maxs are going to get punished and David will lose them both (but you'll find a way to get them out of it for the shake of David's and everyone's sanity)
Iris cursing her uncle-irony is real
Predicting the reason Lance will attack is for love, my guess is out of love for David like Max fucks up reality out of love for David (he went to hell for David just like his daddy after all so like father like son)
I feel like if they survive everything, time travel will end with Other Max and current Max won't attempt it
The cousins not connecting hurts😢
Iris knowing the importance of facts and not leaving room for denial, what an icon (even though I feel she's a little in denial about what she feels for Hermes, perhaps she hasn't figured it out yet)
Can we talk about how much did Nicolas Thorn know about the way Max would use warlock math? Because if he knew about the time travel then he knew about the consequences why did he do it?
While I am trying to remain netral about them, Madeleine and Regine being nice to everyone, especially the lbaf gangs thinking it's okay to treat Max and David like shit is pissing me off
TEDDY! Oh I'm so happy we got to see her, (waiting for Mina's daughter), and Teddy wanting to marry Lance, thinking he's the best was so cute! I am ready to bet real money Theia rants about Lance to Teddy because she's the only person she can do it with
Okay Kyle has an unhealthy obsession with Selena
I think Kyle's relationship with Kincaid is already crumbling
Who has that feather oh my godd-my money is on Madeleine, and then she passed it to make Kincaid's sword?
Iris understanding the importance of showing up, again, what an icon
So the warlocks are siding with Lance? Or something extreme like not taking sides? Can't wait to find out
Also an interesting plot is that most of your cahracters like Lance/Kincaid/Max fight for love but I feel like Lucifer's motive is greed so it will ne really interesting to see which motive is stronger and how you choose to explore that.
Iris gave us a lot of fo9d for thought like the boss she is. I didn't expect to like her as much as I did.
On a side note, my tik tok shows me a lot of Ginny and Georgia clips and I kinda got obsessed with Marcus and Ginny and then I went to see all of their scenes together and can I just say, they gave me major Lance/Theia vibes, like there is this scene where Ginny tells Marcus he could call her something cute like baby and he ends up calling her poo? It felt like something very similar could happen with Lance and Theia. I couldn't find a clip but it's season 2 episode 4 if you want to check it out! Okay I'll stop writing now🌷
PS: This also gave me huge Theia and Lance vibes, especially after the scene where they discuss their music tastes, I love Tom and Zendaya🤭
LET'S FUCKING GO.
Omg I didn't even think of that lmao.
This is a very astute observation and very true. Madeleine is the kind of mother Anjali would be if she wasn't married to Rafael (yall know it's true). We'll learn more about Madeleine from her children soon enough!
Or maybe it'll lead to something good! 🤭
I'm just mixing things up, bro.
He's just a guy 😔
She IS the moment.
Everything is always connected ;)
Ughhhhhhh.
This whole situation is messy ngl. Can't wait for it to get messier hehe.
That's a good question, Vicky. That's a very good question.
I mean, I do love me some Max angst sooooo
We love irony in this household.
Maybe leading to Dark David? *gasp*
But Max loves time travelling and is very excited to do it :(
It really does, fam.
It's all new with Hermes (she's known him for a day) so we'll let it slide...for now.
The thing about Nicolas Thorn is that he doesn't always know why he has to do things, but he knows he has to do them (which can be frustrating for him but bebe had time to get used to it). I'm not saying he didn't know what would happen if he taught Max warlock math, but perhaps he thought the pros outweighed the cons?
I'm ready to throw hands at all of them at this point.
omg Theia 100% rants to Teddy. Teddy: I'm going to marry Lance when I grow up. Theia: GURL ME TOO.
I'm glad we're talking about this. It's creepy.
:(
How did you even guess that shnjksnds
She's the only woman I care about bye
you'll find out in the next chappy ahhh
heeeey that's not fair. maybe he is fighting for love too 😔
I've actually watched both seasons (I love Georgia so much. Fuck ginny, that girl is sooo annoying) although yes Marcus does have Lance vibes...
I LOVE TOM AND ZENDAYA TOO. And that clip is sooo blackbane I agree (not Lance being annoying about music the same way Max is about movies lmao except that David gets away with what he wants to watch anyway but poor theia is stuck with lance - but it's fine because she likes that hehe)

Sorry if someone has already asked this but can we get some facts about Octavian and Devlin (I think that was his name💀)? I miss the trashcan hat baby (idk if the trashcan hat is even still a thing with him lmao) and I'm dying to learn about Devlin cuz there is like no info whatsoever💀💀💕💕💖💖
I'm in the final stages of reworking Vivi, his re-release is TBD still, I'd ideally like to have his re-release be at the same time as the splatterpunk book I'm writing ft him as the main antagonist - or at the very least, when the teaser 3 page comic for that releases! BUT HAVE A SKETCH IN THE MEAN TIME-
Tumblr media
Regarding Devlin Doherty, he's actually @scarfaxia 's character - and yes, in the canonical Hellcrew universe! I can tell you a bit about him, though. He's Julius's second oldest and was a combat marine in the first world war who died on the front lines. Devlin is going to be releasing officially very soon, at the same time of the official release of my character, Cian Lynch!!! (Wonder what that relationship between the two could POSSIBLY be? 🤔😂)

Check on Grey
RALPH DEVLIN: Cerebelle?! What did you just do?!
Her voice trembles over every vowel.
CEREBELLE RAGSDILL: I-I DON’T KNOW, MR. DEVLIN, I- I THOUGHT SHE WAS JUST TRYING TO GET YOU ON HER SIDE SO SHE COULD-
You put your hand against your forehead.
RALPH DEVLIN: Cerebelle, she could be hurt - and we were just starting to get somewhere, somewhere aside from needless violence, all the back-and-forth, and - and you just went and did that.
You sigh, marching over to Grey’s crouched position.
RALPH DEVLIN: Grey, Mys.- I’m terribly sorry for the actions of my second-in-command. Are you alright? Is everything okay? If you let us go, we’ll get you the help you need - how does that sound?
She answers, though not in the way you expected.
Her ‘answer’ comes in the form of a disembodied, static-y arm firmly whamming you in a chokehold against the surface of the fake living room wall.
Grey’s body rises alongside it, now nothing but a mess of grime, all form and stability being cast aside.
She cackles.
GREY MATTER: I SHOULD’VE KNOWN. I I SHOULDVE KNOWN.
(What do you do next?)

random Mayans thoughts, episode 5x05 edition:
- Miguel and Angel's conversation was actually really good, although Angel didn't say much. Miguel is actively trying to protect him and whether or not he wants to be the big brother, I'm seeing it that way and I like it. because here's the thing: Miguel went out of his way by not telling Soledad it was the Mayans who raided that cook house, even after her specifically ordering him to drop the sympathies he might have for these low-lives. and with Potter letting that cat out of the bag, Miguel is in a lot of trouble with her now. in return, Miguel wanted Angel to go to "someone EZ would listen to" but with Sofia blindly loyal to EZ and telling him what Angel said, it puts him in a world of trouble too. and to make matters worse, he slipped and said "I should've just fucking burned all this fucking shit down too", basically confessing to the warehouse fire.
- when confronted about stopping all of the insanity EZ said he doesn't want to lead as a dictator and I was like... since when? but then again, when he did ask the other members in the templo if they want everything to stop or keep going, everyone wanted to move forward. especially with that kind of cash on the table because money is a powerful motivation.
- btw, Guero and Downer had some sort of banter going on from day one and I'm so here for it. Guero: You realize, those have probably been in at least like a hundred strippers’ sweaty ass cracks? Downer: God, I hope so. my man's not only hot and badass but he’s also funny, I can count on these two to make me laugh.
- Hank didn't know it but telling EZ that Creeper will have the rat's name soon was a huge mistake. soon came quickly, and while at first Creeper didn't want to believe Kody when she told him who the rat is, after the other dude gave him the same name he couldn't not believe it anymore. then when EZ came to visit, he should have played it down and not tell him that he knows it's him. I feel so fucking bad for Creeper, he's easily the most tragic story in the club. always been loyal, only ever wanted to be there for the club and his brothers because they're the only family he has, and this is what he gets back. he's also easily the one with the most injuries. I was so fucking sure, it would be Gilly in the coffin from the trailer but now my fear that it's Creeper keeps growing. Kody should be leaving town fast, she'll be on notice too.
- in that conversation where that other dude warns Patricia Devlin to stop digging around a Potter-adjacent "very powerful, very effective and very protected" individual, they must mean Miguel. confirmed by her showing up at Miguel's house later. Potter cleared Miguel from Palomo’s murder Adelita framed him for, yes, but at what cost... now he controls, and pays for, Miguel's entire life and lifestyle. honestly, I kind of want Miguel to work with her and get rid of Potter. sure, I want that fucker dead but how satisfying would the visual of him behind bars be, knowing he'll never get out no matter how much scheming he tries. and if that means Miguel would have to spend a decade or two in prison himself, that's still better than getting killed. I've said it long before season 5 started but if Miguel ends up in prison by the time the show is over, I could live with that. at least he'd be alive, and that's all I really want. btw, what was that dick competition necessary for that Potter threw around??? yikes. how do I unhear that...
- the Grim Bastards, yeah sorry but I have no idea who they are or where they came from. from what I've gathered they're a leftover from the SOA show? the president made a good point about how the feds investigate and only come knocking on your door when they have enough to already nail your ass. good for them, trying to broker peace.
- that fight during the meeting with the Sons was fucking insane, and ngl, it was pretty damn satisfying to see EZ get his ass handed to him for a minute. even though he ultimately won, which admittedly is good for the club, on a personal level I wouldn't have minded if that giant had taken him out right there. that scene in the clubhouse might be their version of a party but all of them yelling EZ's name and slamming their fists on the tables like maniacs had something very cult like but maybe that's just me.
- I feel so bad for Izzy, and Marcus is getting on my nerves with his head stuck in the past. motherfucker, you have a beautiful life and family right in front of you, pull your head out of your ass and start acting like it before you lose them. by the end of the episode it seemed to have sunk in, with Izzy's ultimatum and all. hopefully it’ll last.
- I'm really glad Bishop is doing so much better, it was kinda awkward between him and Maggie's son but he was sweet with that little baby girl. I think after having lost his own child and possibly not having been around any so closely since, holding that little girl might have cracked him open up in a way he didn't think was possible again.
- Letty and Hope's dance party was fun, Coco would have loved to see that, but what the fuck, Isaac found them... that was pretty shocking and I'm scared of what he'll do to Hope and what he'll make Letty do. anyone else thinks that a) with Hope kidnapped, it's gonna be Letty who's gonna join the Broken Saints out of desperation (episode 7 synopsis, my first thought was Emily) and b) there's more between her and Hope? or at least there could be more feelings developing?

IRIS: BUT- BUT I- I’M JUST BEING RESPECTFUL! YES! NOT THAT ANYONE WOULD EVER BE DISRESPECTFUL!
IRIS: OR- UH- NOT TO DISCREDIT ANY PERSONAL EXPERIENCES YOU MAY HAVE.

VITREOUS:
VITREOUS: They haven’t said anything LOL
IRIS: WELL MAYBE IF YOU’D SHUT UP AND LET THEM SPEAK THEY WOULD

DENDRITE: I’m here to turn in criminals.
Iris nearly jumps when Dendrite speaks.
IRIS: CRIMINALS!?!? Yes, yes, let- let me see…
Dendrite hands over two separate bounties. Ron hasn’t seen one of them before. Iris looks them over with wide eyes.

DENDRITE: If you so wish to charge a knight of a crime formally, you may.
IRIS: I- I could never… no, Not- not AXON. Especially not Axon. NOT TO SAY YOU AREN’T A GOOD KNIGHT, NO, BUT… Axon, he- uh. NEVERMIND. NOT SAYING IT ISNT IRRELEVANT- OR, UH, IS IRRELEVANT, WHICH IT ISNT. ITS NOT. NOT IRRELEVANT. JUST. NEEDS TO BE DISCUSSED AT A LATER DATE. ALONE. PRIVATELY. WITH AXON’S PERMISSION.
AXON: %*?
IRIS: HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAHHA SORRY
IRIS: I. I can’t charge this. I’m sorry, not- not with Axon. I could- I’d never DREAM of saying he’s- he’s done anything wrong.
IRIS: This one though…
IRIS: Vitreous.

Since you were talking about which Kleypas' heroes are conventionally attractive, what is your ranking for how attractive you find Kleypas' heroes?
I mean, I think that physically all the ones I've read are fuckable. But for me personalllly
Derek Craven--always, forever, every day of the week, Monday though Sunday, breakfast lunch and dinner, anytime anyplace anywhere. I love his physicality, I love his competence, I love his inability to love but also his deep capacity for love, I love his trash sense of interior design, I love his gauche new money nature, I love when he tells Sara he wants to punish her a little.
Kev Merripen--big, self-loathing, feels like he's gonna break her with his giant dick.... yeah, I think I fuck with him
Sebastian St. Vincent--also fucks so hard but he has to overcome the fact that he a) is blond and b) can't fight good, big sins in my book, and the fact that he does speaks to how hard he fucks
McKenna--I really like a revenge plot and I also like that he told her to shut up while he was going down on her
Westcliff--ugly hot, as we've discussed, but the fact that Westcliff can show up in the midst of literally any problem and solve it in five minutes makes him hotter; you'd be like "Westcliff I'm so confused I've had this problem for eight weeks" and he'd just press a button and it would be fixed
Leo Hathaway--always in forever in my heart as a hot man because a) he used to be so sad b) he makes the heroine say pussy in a way that is mildly degrading and I'm about it
Rhys Winterborne--NOT FIVE FUCKING MINUTES is pretty hot, though I will admit that his hairlessness freaks me out. He overcomes this admirably by being hot in every other way, and I also like that he's like, a Kohl's King
Simon Hunt--has a foot fetish, gets immense points for this
Jack Devlin--very sexy hot, also did extremely mild butt stuff which is super compelling
Gideon Shaw--he was actually very sad and I loved him, I appreciated the work he did to be a better man and his general guilt complex
Cam Rohan--I have my general fetishism issues with Kev and Cam's portrayals, but I will say that Cam being hyper competent and also like, one of the chillest Kleypas heroes is very sexy of him; he had to be chill because Kev got all the family angst
Keir--I know people have issues with his book and his very existence, but I think the fact that Keir is so hot that he has to grow a beard to be in public is so funny
Gabriel Challon--honestly, a shadow of his dad and not as kinky as he could be (sad :() but still very charming
Devon Ravenel--seduced me a bit with his general douchebaggery I gotta say
Harry Rutledge--should honestly re-read this one, but I think I had issues with his heroine and I liked that he was generally horrible
Nick Gentry--would be hotter if not for some unfortunate implications about his backstory, but I did love how competent he was
Tom Severin--actually pretty hot, hampered by my general "meh"ness on his being paired with Cassandra
Ross Cannon--he was fine I guess but didn't make a huge impression on me, too nice and too staid, also named Ross
Matthew Swift--he's.... fine, but he's too sweet for me
Grant Morgan--I mean, I'm not against the amnesia trickery but I preferred it when Lorraine Heath did this
Christopher Phelan--I need to re-read his book because to be honest sorry to this man I remember like... not much at all besides being a bit annoyed by what he was annoyed with
West Ravenel--controversial but brave, I think West would've been much more interesting if Phoebe had met him pre-reform, as it was he came off as a much more boring Leo Hathaway
Ethan Ransom--I just.... wasn't... that into him
Hunter, Earl of Hawksworth--great name, iffy book, not a huge impression made
