so first of all, raph decided to become the nightwatcher bc he wanted to get out of the lair and decided a disguise would keep the risk of people finding out he's a mutant to a minimum. following that i don't think he would be super interested in fighting crime? once meeting casey that interest would grow until eventually plot things happen which force mikey, leo, and donnie to get involved and start using the minimum training they have,, BUT THAT DIDN'T REALLY ANSWER THE QUESTION- uhh before meeting casey, probably a few months. as he and casey started doing vigilante stuff it went on for at least a couple more months. so in total, raph was probably the nightwatcher for abt 5-6 months

okay so,, no one really likes casey at first (except for raph and mikey, mostly bc mikey thinks he's cool). THEY DON'T HATE HIM- they just don't care for them. donnie dislikes him bc their initial meeting was casey accidentally attacking donnie when sneaking around the sewers looking for raph. leo dislikes casey for that reason, because she thinks he's a bad influence, and bc casey was a jerk to april when both of them were younger. all of it's pretty valid, casey goes through some character development and gains a little more respect from everyone

splinter's death was caused by later complications due to the experiments he endured and it is essentially a turning point for all of them. for leo it's some sort of reality check, she just lost one of the most important people in her life and she will do anything to keep it from happening again. which brings me to the fact that it would definitely impact leo the most. she felt like she had to be strong for her siblings and was never truly able to process any of it.

modern!eddie I feel like he loves that cinnamon sugar butter toast. like it's definitely a "struggle meal" that his mom grew up making him bc it was dirt cheap, but it hits. like he gets a craving for it every now and then and mean girl makes it for him and he's just heart eyes in love.

cowboy!eddie loves chili. like look at him and tell me he doesn't exude bowl of chili energy fr. like chili and a grilled cheese, especially on a cold day when he's been working all day. it just soothes his soul really.

to be fr though, i feel like in canon link makes so many different meals as he travels hyrule that he loves all different kinds of food for all different reasons. a simple mushroom skewer was one of the first meals he made and had when he woke up on the great plateau. the recipe for the meat-stuffed pumpkin he learned to make in kakariko village has never left his mind because it was incredibly helpful for fighting against enemies. you will never understand how happy he was to perfect the creamy heart soup he learned in gerudo town so he could share it with revali. and link makes sure to grab every spicy pepper he finds as he travels back home to rito village and wonders if revali has tried a pepper steak yet. each meal he's ever made has special memories and meanings attached to them, so there's no way that link could have just one favorite food. 🥹🫶

Cozy dinner last month with Susan - at a (likely family-run) Korean restaurant in the south side called Il Poom.

Here, I'll give you a preview of our meal:

It has been a while since I've gone out for Korean food :') I really don't dine out much these days, which is why there has been a major shift in my posted content, esp since the pandemic. But more so now, 'post-'pandemic times, things just cost so much more! But anyway, once in a while is okay haha & I LOVE Korean food so I'd wanna try every new Korean restaurant that opens in Edm.

I believe they've been open since the last quarter of 2023. Correct me if I'm wrong! I've only heard about them/seen their posts on socials in January. Located in a small strip mall, I had high expectations!

The entrance had this chalkboard sign. .. "Dumplimg" soup haha

Got a table that was right in front of their semi-open kitchen. Definitely a diff kind of view at Korean restaurants here in Edm. However, this is a suual sight for casual family-style restaurants in Korea. So I actually enjoyed this =]

Not a lot of business fr a Friday evening but I didn't mind at all. There were a few other tables of customers that shared the space during the time we were there. Everyone was speaking Korean haha honestly, I felt like I was 'brought back' to Korea.

Now let's take a look at their menu.

Me being me, I had already browsed several times before arriving here but there were items that were no longer available.

A good selection of menu items. Korean restaurant menus aren't very extensive that usually cover a few categories. This place was no exception.

You're sure to find something for everybody.

Their drinks. We wanted to try the Mae Hwa Su but they sold out. The lady recommended the Bokbunja instead (the black raspberry wine).

Bokbunja with banchans: potato salad, radish kimchi, cabbage kimchi & stir-fried soy sauce fish cakes.

Their kimchi was so good! It's not very fermented so it's not sour. It was more savoury than spicy or sweet. Reminded me of the kimchis I had in Busan, where their kimchis were more salty.

As for the wine, I liked it! It was very sweet!

Doganitang: ox knee soup.

I've never had ox knee before.. . Personally, I am not a fan of tendon, cartilage. .. that kind of stuff. The texture is unattractive to me. Ox knee though. .. it's not a common item on menus here in Edm so Susan & I decided to give it a try. Broth was a creamy off-white colour & comes with a side of noodles. (1 small bowl of noodles with the soup; not per person at the table)

To my surprise, I did not think there would be too many pieces of whatever ox knee looks like in the soup lol there were about 8-10 pieces. I had 3 pieces - & you know what, it was tolerable! I wouldn't have gone for a 2nd & a 3rd piece if I didn't like it. Texture was soft; wasn't gooey, wasn't crunchy. It means they've boiled the heck out of it. The broth was quite bland though; however, that's what these broths are like. You have to add your own seasonings. I like the radish kimchi :P

Next up was the yookgaejang, spicy beef brisket soup. Guess what, it had intestines in it o_O I've never had yookgaejang with meat pieces other than beef brisket lol it was diff. Not only that, it also contained scant amounts of tripe. Although I didn't mind the extra stuff (I don't eat intestine but had 2 pieces bcos again, I thought it was okay), I do prefer the 'original' version of yookgaejang. I just want the beef brisket! Flavour & everything else was good though!

Last item: seafood pancake. YUMMMM! The size was large; plenty of seafood; exterior was crispy. .. delicious!

Would 100% go back!

Thai red curry is such a comfort food for me omg. I mean I love Thai food in general (esp shrimp Tom Yum Soup) because it’s like not TOO spicy for my whitewashed Bengali ass, but it’s sooooo good and flavorful

Caprese Salad, or even caprese sandwiches. Summer vibes iykyk, and omg I love basil. Pesto is also my fav condiment (if it counts) so all of that combined is 💯

Aloo samosas! Esp when my grandma makes them homemade. We use flour + water to make the dough, then fill it with spiced potatoes and fry them. Not the healthiest lmao but def my fav cultural food!

Shawarma!!! SUCH a comfort food omg, I have so many good memories tied with it, and also it’s an easy food solution bc it’s always halal lol

Tteokbokki (korean rice cakes)!! I love Korean food, and this is 100x better than ramen I promise 😫 Its SO GOOD

3. DIANE

UGH Diane is so relatable and real, and she’s probably the fictional character i’m most similar to. I loved her story in the show so much, and I really love how 3-dimensional she feels.

4. Billy Butcher

Okay no more nice characters lmao, we’re going to the opposite of the spectrum. THIS MAN IS SO FUCKED UP 😭😭😭 but he was also my favorite part of The Boys fr. I find him interesting in like a social experiment way lmfao. He’s also so funny in the worst way, and I really love the chaotic element he drives into the show, even if it ends up horribly.

5. Aragorn

I know what you’re thinking, Zaina why are there two white men in your top 5 😭 I was trying to think of a good mix of media or else it would be all anime. Anyways…I love pr much everybody in LoTR, but he’s special to me and he always has been.

November 8-14. I went to a party on Friday and ate SO MUCH, and that energy carried into Saturday where I ate a lot at Shabbat lunch. I'm 132 right now and my goal was to be 130 by Thanksgiving and I should make it if I don't binge between now and then!

Wed: 834 calories pumpkin bar - 130 ravioli and chicken breast salad - 666 milky way mini - 38

Thurs: 973 calories chocolate - 191 miso soup and carrots - 196 wine - 586 (wine moms drink their calories fr)

Fri: 1,510 :( calories grapes, raspberries, strawberries, tortilla chips, potato chips, chocolate covered pretzels, hummus, and guac - all around 885 quesadilla - 626

Sat: 1,392 :( calories cauliflower, garbanzo bean salad, baked ziti, potatos, rugelach, and gummy candies - all around 1,139 miracle noodle pho - 68 chocolate, cheese stick, and miso soup - 185

Week 38.6/52: September 19th - September 25th 2022 | Birthday Dinner #2 🌶️

Went to eat Xiaolongkan aka my favourite food with my parents on Sunday for a big birthday feast HAHAHAHA. There was so much food fr (could not fit everything on table - duck intestine, beef, beef tongue, hand pulled noodles, boneless chicken feet, corn, cow stomach, potato glass noodles, gluten puffs, and brown sugar rice cake desserts). Got 3 soup bases, 牛油大辣麻辣, tomato, and pork bone broth LOL. I was only eating spicy section pretty much. It was super yum but got filling so fast. My eyes are always bigger than my stomach. BRB food coma.

also i dont even like pimentos but the cheese itself is great. my old job had a pimento grilled cheese + spicy homemade tomato soup lunch item and it was so good like most of the food sucks at that restaurant but the pimento grilled cheese is so good fr i used to get that or shrimp tacos for my shift meal all the time

Was this over stepping? Maybe? Hopefully not. Romeo didn't seem to not want a food delivery. There hadn't been a shred of doubt when working in the kitchen, but actually stopping by to drop it off led to the usual doubts. But, they were stuffed aside. Even if he only dropped the food off, it was better then hesitating. Somebody feeling under the weather wasn't great. And... Well, tending just came naturally.
