I used to be that person that never took the time to take an actual bath. I always just whipped through the worlds fastest shower in the early morning rushing to my next task of the day. Like a lot of people, my time is always stacked with one thing to do on top of the next. Even with all the books I’ve read on witchcraft about the importance of taking a ritual bath I used the excuse that ‘I just didn’t have time’.

It wasn’t until an acquaintance told me that she takes a relaxing bath every evening for anxiety, that I thought I would give it a try.

Baths are now my most favorite thing EVER, especially with magical intent because they can be modified and used for almost anything and everything.

Need a pre-spell cleanse? Take a bath.

Energy vampires got you down? Take a bath.

Need to induce psychic dreams? Take a bath.

My calming ritual bath can be modified to whatever you have laying around your house. The purpose of the bath is just to let go of the everyday stress that seems to be never ending and be still in the moment.

Herbs:

Lavender

Roses (dried or fresh if they are fresh maybe no pesticides?)

Chamomile

Sometimes I add orange slices

Oils:

Chamomile

Lemon

Lavender

Clary Sage

Candles:

Any but I mostly use white tea lights or little white votive in clear glass from the dollar store.

There are two ways to create your ritual bath. The first way is to just dumb everything into the bath and soak with all the bits floating around. This is pretty much what I do because I like to see the little leaves and herbs in the water with me.

Bur if you don’t want to clean up that mess, or can’t, there is a second way to enjoy the herbs and oils of the bath. You can place everything in a drawstring muslin bag and toss that bag in the bath with you. Letting the oils and herbs seep up in the water like a tea.

For the actual bath take some time and do a brief meditation. Breathing out all the bullshit that is bothering you from that week/day/month or even year. Drop it out of your head and create a blank space to just be in the moment. I try to meditate for at least 15 minutes. I know that’s not long, but that’s long for me. Afterwards I’ll end the bath with lotions and oils and usually lay around for like 30 minutes specifically doing nothing.

I typically try to take a calming bath once a week just to reset. So I’ll blank out time either Friday or Sunday night just for this.
