Unicorn wars but the unicorns swap places with the bears!! not sure if anyone has thought of this idea, but i just thought what if the bears were just as vicious as they were in the movie, but instead they weren't the ones to evolve, but the unicorns did instead.

I know the book and the movie are their own things but we can draw lines between the two, and that makes Henry's movie-only line "I don't think I've ever owned a key in my ilfe" and the fact that in the book he buys the brownstone in Brooklyn, the place that will become their home together, it just adds something to the concept that because of Alex, Henry gets a key. One that unlocks (his identity, his life, his whole person) and one that locks (his privacy and his ability to make his own decisions).

In the movie Alex gives Henry his key, the symbol of his home. And in the book Henry gets his own. But in both these versions of their life Henry is gifted something that allows him to control his own space.

maybe its just me and my love of all things gothic, but i've been really surprised by the classification of saltburn as a (poorly executed) 'eat the rich' satire. i would've said it was primarily gothic fiction and that the class commentary was more a backdrop to that than the major thesis of the film, so it's interesting that a lot of people seemed to interpret it mostly or entirely through the lens of class satire. i'll be interested to see if the interpretation/reaction to the movie changes at all between the theatrical release and the digital one in a couple weeks; my perception is that a not insignificant number of people went into saltburn expecting something like parasite and were justifiably disappointed. not me though i'm a sucker for a fucked up gothic romance

Thinking about how despite how intimidating he looked as the prowler, Earth 42 Miles is still just as much of a 15 year old boy as our Miles is…

Miles was able to find the hoodie/puffer jacket combo quick and easily enough to put it on before his mom came in the room meaning the room was similar enough that Miles didn’t even notice a difference. Though that could be argued that it was too dark, the fact that there was even a drawing desk in there proves this earth’s Miles still has a love of art- showing that they’re way more alike than not, despite the major differences

If we get a look at how poverty forces children to grow up too fast and often turn to shadier means to get by in life in the next movie, I will actually tear my hair out

It is so funny to me that ever since the bad retcon movie spoiler news have been spreading, my notifications have been EXPLODING with people digging up like every single KainShin post I ever made or reblogged; to like or reblog, not to clown on.

A few years back, I had to see like 75% of shippers leave my ship in my biggest fandom because one of them got a canon love interest and that discouraged them from shipping the non canon ship. Just like that.

Meanwhile, here the author really very badly retcons the ship into being related and all reactions I have seen so far are either FUCK CANON or THIS ONLY MAKES IT HOTTER.

Genuinely can not express how much I love you guys.

Like, yeah there are certainly people who will abandon the ship, and I'm deeply sorry that Gosho made it so you can no longer enjoy this ship and I do respect the choice; bad canon writing decisions have made me turn my back on ships in the past too.

But I haven't sailed this non-canon-and-never-will-be-canon ship for 20 years to have canon get in the way now.

I just FULLY do not care about this late ass, bad retcon. Doesn't exist to me, the same way Kaito and Shinichi's heterosexuality and Shin/Ran doesn't exist to me.

Fandom exists to have fun with the characters and the world, to play around and cherry pick what you like about canon and only keep the bits that spark joy. That is how I have treated fandom for over twenty years now and that is how I will continue treating fandom.

ok i am not over everything everywhere all at once but tbh one thing i haven’t heard anyone talk about yet is how even in the multiverses that mostly existed as part of a joke there still managed to be a genuinely touching narrative arc in each one??? like i know the reason i feel so emotionally invested in two piñatas or two rocks is because of the greater context of the story being played across all these abstract scenarios and the same emotional signifiers taking place across each one to emphasize the relationship between evelyn and her family but i just have to appreciate the fact that there wasn’t a single moment in that movie that didn’t end up having a larger impact. the whole is greater than the sum of its parts yes, but also the parts themselves still manage to be worth something in and of themselves. god what a great movie

Not to go on and on about how much I adore the DnD movie BUT it was also so fantastic to see such ridiculous plans in action? Like I've seen so many campaigns feature shenanigans of the highest order, like real loony tunes meets rube goldberg machine level nonsense, and so seeing Holga pry up a loose flagstone to use as a weapon in a last-ditch effort not to die and the entire scene where they use tree sap, a portal staff, and a painting to break into the treasure carriage was SO beautiful like that's the EXACT sort of plan that comes up when you give four people with assorted skills and random magical items a few minutes to figure something out and it's FANTASTIC.
