My new OC!
I think I might open left hand commissions, this turned out better than I expected, and honestly, I need the money, would anyone be interested?

Think I've said this before but the thing that really gets me about Yuri On Ice is that it's so much kinder than the world we live in. Russia isn't violently homophobic. Men's figure skating isn't homophobic. The Russian coach won't let his youngest star do quads until he's old enough to do them safely. Just things that should be true but aren't yet.

So I've been thinking, Sonic and Tails 'fight or flight' instincts switch as they get older.
Let me elaborate.
So growing up Sonic was pure fight instinct when he was younger. Just head first into any fight and he's not backing down for nothing, he's gonna find a way to win that fight no matter what.
But as he gets older he's got Tails to look after and all their other friends that follow him into danger. So now he's more willing to take an L, pull back, regroup and think of a plan in, relative, safety. So he's still not backing down from the over all fight but he develops a flight instinct and does run away when things get too bad in that moment. (basically 'lose the battle when the war' mindset is something he develops over the years aka flight)
Tails meanwhile is the complete opposite. Tails grew up on his own only learning how to run away and hide from those who wanted to hurt him. Then he met Sonic.
Sonic not only helped protect Tails and had his back, but Tails grew up watching Sonic only have a fight instict. And little kids love to imitate anyone older than them and we've seen Tails do this before.
So Tails is just pure fight instict as he gets older, which has Sonic having some regrets™ on how he raised Tails.
Essentially what I'm saying with this whole post is as they get older Sonic is the one that has to hold back Tails from fights.

Cellbit who holds his shit together, pieces together the clues, and solves the issue while walking on a tightrope, where if he cannot correct for the mistakes made, the fallout would be catastrophic. He cannot fail to solve the case, he cannot fail to cure his friends, it isn’t an option in how desperate the situation has gotten.
He’s relied upon by everyone as the leader of the order, shoulders heavy with the burden. He is intense when he needs to be, gentle when a soft touch is required, and keeps his head when the situation is so intense the others are speechless.
He gets through Forevers stubbornness, reassures Pac in his sorrow and indecisiveness. It’s a fucked up scene and he handles it well because he has no other choice.
He doesn’t cry until it’s all over. Just for a second, when the moment is over, and he can take a breath of air. And even then he leads the rest of them through clean up. He makes sure Pac gets home, gets Forever to a proper place to rest, ensures the rest of the group is okay after what they just witnessed.
Then the moment he leaves the others, he finds another critical clue that he can’t just ignore or put to the back burner.
Another mystery, another crisis, another billion clues he’ll have to organize and follow up on and solve, because he’s the investigation guy, the leader of the order, and the island is counting on him. The kids are counting on him. He doesn’t get a chance to truly breathe. To fully sit down and let himself crumble, let someone, anyone, else be the strong foundation, because if he can’t solve this, who will?
Even with his family returning to him, it’s no wonder he feels so alone. Out of the frying pan and into the fire, I guess.

I cannot get over this absolute banger of a front cover.
First we have Odasaku front and center, and then there's Dazai - split between side A and side B - right above him. There's a clear, jarring difference with Beast!Dazai's dead eyes, bruised skin, while almost drowning in bandages, compared to Main!Dazai's mischievous grin.
Their worlds are such vast contrasts to each other, and yet Odasaku remains unchaging in both, especially in appearance. Same old striped-shirt, beige-coat wearing Oda.
And then there's the cards. Someone made a really good tweet about the meaning of every card (here's the link) but basically, Beast!Dazai has cards that symbolise commitment and death - which greatly connects with the fact his main goal in the Beast world is making Odasaku stay alive, a plan that probably started way before he was fifteen - while Main!Dazai has cards that express genuine self, freedom, acceptance, and personal growth. Development that we see in the main story, nearly growing alongside him sometimes.
Now if that isn't a knife to the gut, I don't know what is.
Oh wait. I do.
The future of the Beast world. The frames that have Dazai and Oda's confrontation, where everything came crashing down until the jaw-dropping finale in Beast. I absolutely hate how I'm still not mentally, emotionally, of even physically recovered from this scene.
How can I when Oda described Dazai as a child about to cry 😭
Anyways, my parting words is that I wanna imagine the burnt page in Oda's hand signifies that because of Beast!Dazai's intervention, he "burnt a page" about the good relationship they could have had. For him to survive, Dazai made himself be the enemy in the Beast world and made something of a good world that still feels emptier than the original one.
🥲✌️

What the hell is 20 trucks supposed to do for 2 million displaced people under constant bombing? Is that all the world can manage? 20??!? It like giving a man dying of thirst a drop of water and asking him to be grateful for your generosity. It is sick. It is fucking sick what they are doing. Those 20 trucks purpose is to placate the media and us and do nothing for the Palestinians.
They even forbade oxygen tanks from going to hospitals and didn’t allow any food. ..

my modern kotor au no one asked for:
set in and around las vegas, split between rival spice running mobs the revanchists and the mandalorians, the law of the republic, and encroaching group the sith
on top of leading the revanchists revan is also a undefeated street racer (motorcycle helmet = revan mask). they still cut malak's jaw off bc thats very sexy of them
canderous starts out as a mando thug but after having to survive on the run with revan for a bit he and the revanchists establish a working relationship once he takes over
atton is a cardshark / gas station employee trying to avoid detection after defecting from the revanchists
the ebon hawk is a fucked up volkswagon van. license plate EBNHAWK. it is ugly as shit.
T3 is a shih tzu and HK is revan's beloved doberman pinscher
mira is still a bounty hunter. she wears a lot of camo cargo pants
mission is just some kid that revan took a liking to and took under their wing. can't decide if zalbaar is a newfoundland or a full lumberjack human man
juhani is a member of revan's new crew after leaving the city goverment
carth is like. a cop or something. he would be. bastila might also start as one and then get pulled into the life. or she's some psychologist/social worker who is consulting after being entrusted with an amnesiac revan's care
disciple is a history grad student who recently moved into the area and started going to the casinos. actually an undercover republic agent trying to catch them in a sting operation. brianna is a spy sent in by atris, who's part of the city government
visas is a sith assassin thats causing problems for the revanchists and destabilizing them
bao dur. beloved mechanic. used to be part of the revanchist crew but he's since left and mostly spends his time living in the desert and defending the land from developers
goto is also there ig but everyone's too busy for that
kreia is completely unchanged and she still has the force. no one questions that she is the only one operating under star wars rules. she still wants the death of the force and no one understands what that means except for the exile who had a really bad spice trip and now has a harry du bois understanding that theyre in a fictional reality

gonna literally throw virtual knives at the next person who says 34 & 16 need to step up in playoffs as if half the problem in previous years wasn’t management not surrounding them with complimentary players. like there is only so much two players can do. a team wins a cup, not individual players. like there’s a reason people you wouldn’t assume have a cup, have a cup, and that’s because they were part of a team that was built to support the name players.
i don’t need flashy deadline adds because a lot of the time it ruins team chemistry and things fall apart after a round. i just want a team that will go to war for each other, a team where people know what role they’re there to play and do it well, a team that has depth players they can call on when injury happens, because those are the kind of teams that win cups.
like yeah some of the greatest players have cups. but so do a bunch of guys you’ve probably never heard of. because it takes a whole team.
