Okay, dollblr, I need your help

My friend's doll collection was stolen on May 19th by his shitty landlord. Charges have been filed, but the landlord and the moving company he used to transport the dolls and other stolen property have been uncooperative in giving the information needed to trace and recover the dolls.

I'm asking that this post be shared as far and wide as possible so he has some hope of getting his most beloved and distinctive dolls back.

If anyone sees a massive dump of Ringdolls and Dollfie Dreams on Mercari, eBay, or Facebook, especially in/around/from the Louisville, KY area, please contact me so I can let him know.

I will update as we assess the full extent of the loss, but the dolls we're asking people to keep an eye out for at the moment are

Ringdoll K fullset edition with attached hair, NS. No outfit. Distinctive features: One magnet fell out and was put back in back upside down, so his headcap doesn't stay closed.

DIM Minimee Ruki head, NS. Distinctive features: Vampire mod.

Custom House Mina (both Saint Mina and LE Sad Mina), NS

Ringdoll Quiz, GS, fullset

Bobobie Pixie. Distinctive features: sky blue skin that yellowed to a minty color. Probably wearing green pajamas with brown airplanes made by me.

ResinSoul Yao, WS. His first doll, probably yellowed a fair bit by now. Distinctive features: a small chip on one of her horns.

DIM Minimee heads of all Gazette and Dir En Grey members. If these turn up as a lot, contact us, it's probably them.

Louisville Doll Theft Update

So I posted a couple weeks back about my friend whose landlord stole his doll collection, and I have good news and bad news.

The good news is we were able to track down one of the trucks. The bad news is that it belonged to a charity donation pickup that just ended up with their clothes and furniture after everything else had been taken by the "cleaners."

After calling all the cleaners and junk haulers in the area, we've narrowed it down to two, the first admitted to working with Barrett Goff/Allodium in the past but acted a little squirrely when I mentioned stolen property and said they hadn't been on that side of town that week, but the guy was otherwise sweet and cooperative, and said company policy is to donate anything not broken. The second admitted they let their employees just grab and take whatever, then got an attitude and said they "couldn't confirm or deny involvement," and told us to come back with a warrant. They're the only ones out of the internet's entire trove of KY Louisville area junk haulers that refused to give answers, which is pretty sus.

(Who, in the course of a normal conversation, says stuff like "can neither confirm nor deny involvement"? Not sure if these guys are guilty or just extra...)

Anyway, with nothing turning up on online resale platforms, the next stop is flea markets. As they're working extra gigs to save for a new place (and a lawyer), I'm hoping to save them a PI fee by organizing a sweep with people in the area, to run through local flea markets and see if anyone's trying to sell a massive doll collection. They already can't afford HRT anymore, if they have to pay a pi and a lawyer, getting justice will get prohibitively expensive both financially and personally

If you are local to the Louisville KY area, even if you're not in the hobby, please dm me and I'll go over the ones we haven't eliminated by phone yet. They've been advised to get a private investigator, but they really don't have that kind of money lying around after being robbed and left homeless. If I can get enough Baker Street Irregulars together to help, we can let them use their savings for a lawyer.

Again, the collection is made up of mostly Ringdoll, DIM, ResinSoul/Bobobie, and some Soom. Also among the more distinctive dolls we're trying to recover are Custom House Saint Mina and LE Sad Mina, an Island Doll Shukaku ver. 2 fullset, and a secondhand Volks free choice girl with goth vampire faceup and antique-looking dress.

If anyone knows attorneys who take cases for cheap or pro bono, please contact me so I can refer them. They've applied to the ACLU, but with the organization's workload these days, it's kind of a crapshoot.

¡¡ Less than fun fact: this is Carmilla's 4th time being stolen. She was a secondhand purchase from someone we knew from DAK, and she was stolen from and recovered by her original owner 3 separate times at conventions over the years she was with him. We were hoping she'd be a little recovery charm... then remembered 4 is a bad number in Japan. :/ (We still believe in you, Carmilla!)

UPDATE (7/1/23)

Louisville metro pd is garbage, the sheriff's office is garbage, but apparently the cops in the Shively area are actually motivated to do their jobs when presented with a preponderance of evidence. Especially since they "have been called out to Jim's for theft claims so often [they're] happy to take him down now that there's sufficient evidence." An actual real life paper theft report that Sweet & partner have seen with their actual eyes has been filed. A case number has been assigned. A warrant is in the works.

Eddie (Sweet's fiance) returned to Jim's for round 2 with said police in tow. Cue Jim Alan Mueller groveling and saying "it shouldn't come to this, can't we work something out?" (No bitch the extortion deal was us working something out and you broke it, for no reason, to your own detriment. This and everything coming you brought on yourself.) As far as it has been explained by police, once [I'm not detailing the warrant in the interest of preserving evidence] and everything has been processed, anything of theirs that is recovered will be returned to them.

Police and counsel will be given Jim's diarrhea-of-the-keyboard tantrum conversation with me, and all audio recordings, which are a LOT more than Jim likely thinks were taken.

We've learned not to get too excited about lights in this particular tunnel, but this one might actually be the end. Fingers and toes crossed.

We'll keep y'all apprised of any further developments.

A Request

As I reach the limit of my datamining abilities re: this case--there is some question of a mutual link between Goff's real estate company and Mueller's, for example--I feel I should raise the possibility that Mueller/wholesalejim/jbwholesaleeverythingatoz may switch platforms to unload the rest of the dolls, so if we could get eyes on Facebook, Craigslist, and/or Mercari, that would be awesome, too. I'll be watching myself but it's a lot of ground for one person to cover (his fiancé has his hands full with the in-person aspect of this, as well as looking for housing and dealing with a recent auto accident). If Mueller has shown us anything through all this, it's that he's a creature of greed, and is unlikely to just sit on a collection that he went to all this trouble to keep a large chunk of.

I'm also looking for a consultant on real estate regs, so if anybody knows anybody, please send them my way.

And if anyone lives in Louisville and/or knows someone who does who is looking to buy or rent, I would recommend avoiding Allodium Real Estate (Barrett Goff, crooked landlord responsible for orchestrating the theft); JAM Property & Real Estate; and or Cosby Real Estate and Swan Real Estate (affiliated with JAM).

UPDATE 7/17/23

Hokay. So. I promised an update so here goes.

This is a little hard because I don't want to get into the specifics of the warrant in the interest of preserving evidence, but so far the initial items filed have not been recovered, so the next few weeks are going to be a tedious process of digging up photos of as much of the stolen property as possible so theft reports can be filed on them as well, and they can be added to the search. I'm digging through my blog, his, and a doll account I had on DW like 10 years ago. His fiancé is doing the same, while @sweetsugarpain takes some time away from the day to day grind of this process for his health.

The dolls and parts that were in the box are being cataloged and cleaned up to be sent out for repairs. A special thank you goes out to @rosslynpaladin for her services, you're a star.

The last time we heard from the sheriff, he was backpedaling hard in the wake of landlord Barrett Goff's accidental confession email, and seems ready to kick Goff loose. Time will tell.

We still haven't found the third eBay account, but given the existence of the second, we have no reason to think it doesn't exist. I'm hoping to get eBay to act based on his marking Mina's auction Closed instead of pulling it down, since he admitted to conducting the extortion outside of eBay in the "if the dolls were so smart why didn't they tell me they were stolen" hot mess meltdown he had at me. Time will tell on that, too.

We ask that people continue to keep an eye out, and I'll make another post of the dolls we feel would be easiest to identify and which he might be desperate or delusional to still try to sell.

As always, a massive thank you to everyone who's helped us over the course of this nightmare. It's not over and won't be for a while, but it's better than it was, and that's down to y'all. We appreciate it more than any of us can express.
