Rating superhero/villain dynamics on how gay they are

Batman/Joker:

do i even have to say it. Usually they have a pretty one sided thing with Joker being high-key obsessed with him but Batman has no interest in that at all. Way overhyped imo. bonus points for the Lego Batman Movie 7/10

Superman/Lex Luthor

despite many factors and the fact they have a son together, there’s not a lot of tension. Plus Lex gives major homophobic vibes, (he’d make pride lexcorp merch while backing don’t say gay bills)

2/10 for kon

Green Lantern(Hal Jordan)/Sinestro

oh my god. They have the whole friends to enemies thing that you could swap for lovers to enemies so easily. The worst exes you’ve ever seen. I think they’re actually a couple in some comics (prolly an AU). That one episode of DC Super Hero Girls (the new one) where Hal fights both Sinestro and Carol and they’re said to be on the same level. good shit

10/10

Wonder Woman/Cheetah

it depends on the comic. Sometimes they’re very flirty and suggestive and other times they’re tearing each other’s clothes off bc the male author thought it’d be hot. I think that goes for a lot of woman/woman dynamics in comics tho. I honestly don’t get sometimes why they’re fighting bc they seem to have a lot in common.

6/10 they should just date

Dick Grayson/Slade Wilson

Jesus Christ guys wtf are y’all doing. They have the funniest dynamic in all of DC comics. Old ass ‘nam vet picks fight with 15 year old who he blames his son’s death on. While I adore the 2003 teen titans show, they got the dynamic so wrong. Their dynamic only becomes homoerotic once Dick is an adult. They have profound respect for each other but they also fucking hate each other. They’re enemies, they’re friends, they’re co-parents, they’re the least mentally stable people you’ve even seen.

sometimes accents are stupid and pronunciations Do Not Generalize

an example of this is vitamin. where i am in america it's pronounced with an "eye" i, so the vi rhymes with "bye." Where I was in the UK it's pronounced with an "ih" I, so the vi is like the vi in "Victoria."

so now if it's taking about the concept of vitamins as a category, i use the US pronunciation. if i'm talking about specific ones, like vitamin c, i use the UK pronunciation.

(usually. if i remember i might swap wildly between the two as i try in vain to remember which pronunciation is correct for the country i'm in)

don't even get me started on the way i use the UK pronunciation of "garage" for everything except for garage sales

This fandom made me hate Magnus Bane. And it made me despise the ship as well.

I used to really enjoy it, but its fans are so biased and partial and unbalanced.

Magnus Bane is an annoying Mary Sue, especially in fandom work. Talking about the ship, in fandom works it seems always that Magnus is making Alec a favour being with him because Magnus is just so better at everything and Alec is just so undeserving of his love it’s a miracle Magnus even looks at him. And when they fight Magnus is right and Alec has to apologize. And when they breakup Magnus finds another partner and Alec sulks. And for their kids Magnus is the best and most amazing parent ever and Alec is the one that makes everything work but he’s just not as cool.

A fic sounds genuine and even nice to read and then there are quotes from the kids like “yeah, Alec was cool, but Magnus... everyone loved Magnus” or “everybody knew Alec was so lucky to have Magnus Bane as a husband” or anything really that makes the reader think that Magnus is just above Alec, trust me it is sooooo common, and I close it because my blood boils and I’m at this point exhausted of this unjustified and biased worship.

I liked the character. I genuinely used to enjoy it. Now I hope that in the following series in canon he will fuck up and people will leave him miserable and alone because I am so tired of everyone thinking his farts look like glitter and smell like lilies.

I want a ton of fics were Alec is just better and more lovable and known as objectively cooler and everyone acknowledges he is more intelligent and prettier and more deserving and he is doing Magnus a favour being with him because no one understands what Alec Lightwood finds in that “dude”. And I want a ton of them because there is a ton of the opposite and it made me want to make a character I enjoyed disappear from the face of the earth.

It would just be fair.

Ugh, I hate Magnus Bane so much. And it’s this fandom’s fault.

I was so so so tempted to write an ironic fic to "cater to your needs" but I decided against it because I didn't want to waste my time or my words.

This is, with all due respect, the most ridiculous ask I've ever gotten.

Your feelings about Magnus are not the fandom's fault. Yes, there is hate and bias in the fandom - but how you deal with it is entirely your responsibility.

If writers portray Alec as someone who 'worships' Magnus, it is because Alec does worship Magnus. Anyone who says otherwise hasn't read the books and doesn't understand Alec's character.

If you don't like the way Magnus (or Alec) is written in the fics, then don't read those fics. It's as simple as that.

For the record, Alec is good and loveable and so fucking cool. Maybe he is not all that for your standards.

I genuinely will never understand people who claim to love Alec and want Magnus to suffer because loving Alec means protecting Magnus.

If you are unsatisfied with the work in the fandom, write your own shit. Although based on what you explained and how you wanted Magnus portrayed, I'm not sure even Alec would read it.

I have seen a hilarious large number of people claim that sokai is “rushed” and “made unnecessarily romance focused” and “thrown in our faces too much” while SIMULTANEOUSLY complaining that sokai never kisses or does anything explicitly romantic and is shoved to the side constantly and never gets development. And this is hilarious to me. Like. Guys come on. Pick a side. OR commit fully. Stop hating my ship inaccurately and Admit that it is pretty iconic and hilarious that they manage to be too obnoxiously romantic and unnecessarily plot relevant while also having a glaring lack of canon romance and no plot relevence. Like. I know i cant make people like my characters and my ships but can you at least start admitting how funny your complaints about them are. I love you kingdom hearts relationships you’re so everything all the time. <3

#i think i am just not going to tag this as character or ship #as compromise because i dont know who the target audience is #i am just filled with giddy joy #theyre soooooo stupid #and they have soooooo much cool storyline potential #but even if youre not a fan of tragedy and reading between lines #and doing complex intractions with themes and narratives and falling in love with complicated morally grey relationships #i think people should AT LEAST be able to admit that theyre so funny #stop calling them boring it is the one thing i will not stand for smh #when they suck its in a really funny way hope this helps

Sometimes I'll see something dumb in the tags of a post I make and I'll block the user, but occassionally I'll have a rare "No I'm being mean, communication solves everything" moment and I'll message them to clarify things if I see there's a simple miscommunication issue. (Side note: don't do this.)

In this case, the user blocked me and I was just like "You're so right for that actually, this is exactly what people need to do." It doesn't matter if a conflict is big or small — if someone is annoying to you, block them and move on! Doesn't matter what the context is or of it's a big matter or an inconsequential one, your online experience is your own and you need to cater to yourself first and foremost.
