Okay so the magical auras in Tangled. Time to actually give the magical system some real structure.

Lucky we only have a select few base ones and they’re used in usually very specific instances so a lot of them are kinda easy to tell.

Yellow and blue, naturally since they belong to the sundrop and moonstone I think these are the strongest and most powerful auras in the show. Anything with a yellow and/or blue aura I think is like the highest level of magical power feasible in the show. And because of this I think even if they aren’t directly connected to it, I think anything with those auras is derived from the sundrop or moonstone somehow. However for actual humans, I think it’s VERY rare for magical humans to be born with a yellow or blue aura.

I think the next most powerful aura is pink/purple/pinkish-purple or whatever you wanna call it. Throughout the show this seems to be largely associated with teleportation spells and they’re really powerful ones too. Not just teleportation from Corona to Equis or whatever, although that hula hoop thing is general teleportation. A lot of it seems to open pockets from other dimensions and stuff which is VERY powerful clearly. Although in some cases like the Hourglass of Time it can also be used for time travel as well. Whatever it’s used for, it’s clearly very powerful so I’m putting it in second place.

The red aura I’m putting in third place. It’s tied very closely to Saporia, since about 90% of the time there’s a red aura on screen it’s connected to Saporia somehow. The only time it’s not is when the Mood Idol changes from red to green. In general red still seems to be fairly powerful but it still does very basic things. Memory loss and necromancy, those are impressive but not really powerful spells.

As for the green aura, this one we see a LOT in the show. Arguably just as much as the sundrop and moonstone magic. Aside from them, I think this is the most frequent aura we see. Despite this being Tromus and Sucracha’s aura, it seems to be used for a lot of mostly basic magic. So I’m putting this one second to last.

And finally, white auras. This one we actually see the least. We’ve only seen a pure white aura for the magic mirror, the shell prisons, and initially the Cloak of Retudnus. In most cases the use of the white aura is even more basic magic than green, so I think this one is the least powerful one.

Some TTS scar headcanons from a thread I started.

Eugene has a sundrop flower scar from where Gothel stabbed and Rapunzel healed him and a gnarly but very hard-to-see scar on his nose from walking across a lofted beam blindfolded when he was 11

Pascal has a similar sundrop scar on his body from when the snake bit him

Varian has a scar on his stomach from when Cass hit him in CR

Rapunzel has scars on her hands from holding the moonstone and sundrop. And also a lot of little cuts and burns and scratches on her feet from walking around barefoot all the time

Lance has a scar on his back from where the spider bit him in Corona walls. It's not nearly as bad as the Baron's scar, just a little blotch of pinkish purple with a bit of green. He also has a scar on his back from when Snoozy the sneezeweasel threw him, and a small cut on his upper chest from an old street fight as a kid.

And Cass...hoo boy. She has her arm, of course. And she also has a trail of scars down her body where the blue sections of her armor used to be. It starts at the old moonstone scar, which is the worst of that one. She also has a scar over her left eye from the time she tried to sneak back into Gwen's inn and then fell in her rose bushes. And she has a scar that looks like the Corona crest on her lower back from where Rapunzel healed her after she died

Arianna has stretch marks from her pregnancy with Rapunzel

Gothel, Tromus, and Sucracha all have scars of Zhan Tiri's ram face on their right bicep. It's their version of the brotherhood tattoo

I really wish we got more background on Janus point. It’s literally in Corona but from the looks of it it was a place to worship Zhan Tiri. Was Zhan Tiri part of a more ancient form of Coronan religion? Is this just where her disciples used to meet?

And on top of that, her tree, her literal command center, was miles away. So how far exactly was her reach? She had an army after all, did she build an empire from it? Are Gothel, Tromus, and Sugracha just the last survivors of some kind of long forgotten cult empire uprising?
