character biography:

christine has had the typical life of a shadysider. no one in that town is able to have a good life. just like it is with everyone else, her life started out good. she had two parents and a sister and she loved all of them. then, one day, her father left for a barely legal girl and her mother began to drink. it seemed all her mother was capable of doing was working two jobs and drinking. though she had an older sister, the kind that should be looking out for you, she always felt like she was looking out for herself. at some point cindy had decided her life and her success was more important.

while her sister was busy trying to see the positive in everything, christine was always able to see what was really happening. and, for shadyside, that meant all she could see was the negative. people died in this town in gruesome ways. she wasn’t even talking about all of the massacre victims when she thinks that, either. even regular non-massacred people die horribly in shadyside. no one gets to fall asleep and not wake up again.

at ten years old chrstine discovered an album by david bowie that she would not put down. she listened to the rise and fall of ziggy stardust and the spiders from mars on repeat all day for hours. she was so obsessed with the album that her mom started calling her ziggy as a joke and the name just stuck. she hasn’t gone by christine in years because of it.

every summer since she was a little girl ziggy and her sister would go to camp nightwing. it was one of the few times she was around sunnyvalers, easily her least favourite kind of people. they were always so happy and chipper, nothing in their lives ever wrong. their parents didn’t drink or cheat. they didn’t get divorced. they had dogs and cats and even hamsters. in sunnyvale anything is possible. in shadyside only the worst is. being at the camp only cemented her hate for the sunnyvalers. all she could see was how unfair it was that they were always better than them. somehow they always won the colour war.

she used to look forward to camp, even though she hated the sunnyvalers. the last few years were miserable. sunnyvalers would bully her, calling her all sorts of horrible names. the very last year had the worst of it happening. a girl named sheila decided to make ziggy’s life a living hell. she graffitied her room and tried to hang her from the tree the old witch sarah fier was executed in. sheila even burned her arm, all because she stole 10 dollars. the only reason she didn’t get kicked out right then and there was the counsellor nick goode. despite being from sunnyvale, nick stood up for her. after that he started hanging around her. she didn’t understand why he was so nice to her at first. she hated that she liked being around him.

cindy and ziggy’s relationship had always been rocky. they were opposites, with cindy always trying to live life like she was from sunnyvale and ziggy all too aware of the truth. even at camp they couldn’t turn off their anger at each other. having her sister call her a monster was one of the worst moments of her life.

despite sheila trying to ruin everything, ziggy was determined to have a good time at camp. she went to the arts cabin and started getting together paint to douse sheila in like carrie. when nick found her she tried to make an excuse but he was, surprisingly, very into her revenge plot. for a sunnyvaler he had good ideas. they rigged up a bucket full of nasty bugs in the outhouse and lured her in there with a note from her boyfriend, who just so happened to be nick’s older brother. they left her locked in that cabin all night.

instead of being involved in the colour war, nick and ziggy hung out and talked. she discovered, again, that she really liked being around him. there was something about this sunnyvaler that made ziggy have a little bit of hope. maybe cindy was totally wrong about the world. then they hear screams and they discover bodies. a murderer is on the loose and she doesn’t know what to do. cindy is still out there somewhere and she could get hurt. nick makes her stay in the mess hall, though, wanting her to be safe. the way he tries everything he can to keep her safe in that moment is surprising to her. she never had anyone stand up for her like that before.

after remembering sheila being stuck in the outhouse, ziggy runs to free her to get her to safety. while there with gary, one of the counsellors, she hears someone talking from inside one of the toilers. when she opens it up she sees cindy and alice. she sends a bucket down to try and get them back up. then the killer breaks into the outhouse and beheads gary right in front of her. that’s when she sees the killer is tommy slater, her older sister’s boring boyfriend. now, though, he has an axe and he’s trying to kill her.

having your sister’s boyfriend chase you with an axe is traumatising. she reunites with nick and they’re able to get away from the killer for a bit before she is chased to the mess hall. she hides in the pantry, trying to stay away from tommy, but he manages to find her. before he can kill her cindy saves her sister. they make up, both of them having realised just how horrible they had been to each other their whole lives.

cindy explains everything that she and alice had learned about sarah fier, how the curse and everything had always been real. she really was a witch, after all. alice makes her way back from the tunnel with the hand of sarah fier and the three of them hatch a plan to reunite the hand with her body to break the curse. just as they’re about to leave tommy kills alice and they have to run. they make it to the tree just in time, digging a hole as quickly as they can. they shove the hand in the ground but the curse doesn’t stop.

other kills have been resurrected and are coming for them, too. tommy is the one that gets to them, though. he attacks both her and cindy with an axe. they die looking at each other, hands outstretched. all she can think is that she’s happy she’s dying with cindy, that she doesn’t have to face a world without her. she’ll die a shadyside death like she was destined to.

then she wakes up and above her is the face of nick goode saving her life. that damned sunnyvaler just couldn’t let her die in peace. for years she thinks about that day, about how everything happened. she told the story to everyone she could but no one believed her. all of the cops and therapists she had to see were convinced the trauma of her sister’s boyfriend killing her had warped the truth in her mind. not a single person believed her. not even nick who seemed to be different from the rest of the sunnyvalers.

she never saw him again after that. ziggy skated by in school, keeping her head down. she had always been a freak but now she was the freak with a dead sister, no dad, a drunk mom, and the only survivor of a massacre the took 12 lives, including her own. people stared at her and whispered in the hallways. sometimes she thought they didn’t know she could hear them, though the older she got the more she realised they just didn’t care. she was some sideshow freak, on display for everyone like they deserved to see it.

all she’s ever wanted is to get out of shadyshide. she wants to go see some other town where people don’t know her name. but every time she imagined leaving her throat started to close up. she stayed at home, and no matter how much her mother bothered her to get a job or go to school, she just couldn’t. she couldn’t make herself leave the house after she graduated high school. the curse is real and one day another massacre will happen. one day someone else will be twisted by the witch and kill people they know and care about. and there’s nothing ziggy can do to stop it because the only way ot break the curse didn’t work.

her mom got her a therapist, the kind that would make house visits. with her therapist she was able to be outside for an hour or two day at most, always having to get back as soon as possible. she was only ever able to leave the house when she had her therapist with her to distract her from things. when she’s home she’s safe from the curse. she’s not safe out in the real world. through her sessions the therapist concluded that she would not be able to function normally and after a fight ziggy was put on disability.

the day her mom died ziggy started collecting clocks. she put clocks all over the house, setting alarms on all of them. one was her dinner alarm, another was the alarm for when jeopardy was on, another was the alarm to lock all the doors in the house. each door to the outside had at least three locks and each had to be locked three times just to make sure that it was actually locked. the only time she’d go outside is her own backyard, and even then it was only when her dog needed to go out. her first service dog was named major tom and he helepd her be more of a person. he performed tasks around the house to make her life easier and was also used as a way to make her get some time outside. her current service dog is named jareth.

ziggy’s life is ordered by her alarm clocks, making the decisions for her so that she doesn’t have to make them herself. for the most important tasks in her life, like locking doors, she repeats them three times. if she doesn’t, ziggy is convinced sarah fier will come back to kill her. her life is strictly scheduled out just the way she likes it.

that is until she turns on the news one day and sees another massacre. ryan torres, a seemingly normal boy, put on a halloween costume and murder seven people in a mall. none of the names were familiar to her but she knows what those families are going through. during the days following the massacre her ocd and agoraphobia is worse than usual. she can’t make herself even take one step out into her backyard. locks are checked constantly, with ziggy setting specific alarms to check them throughout the day.

despite all of this ziggy finds out who is affected by the curse. she calls deena to tell her that the curse isn’t broken. later that night deena and her brother show up with sam in the trunk of their car. ziggy recounts what happened at camp nightwing in 1978. after deena has her spirit sent back in time to witness what actually happened to sarah fier, she tells ziggy where the body is and they decide to break the curse together. when she learns that the goode family is involved she doesn’t want to believe it. nick saved her life – there’s no way he could be evil. but he shows that he is when he appears at the mall and they have to kill him while breaking the curse.

after that her ocd and agoraphobia are still bad but they seem better. she sees a therapist again and, finally, for the first time since she was 18, ziggy isn’t afraid to leave her house. she keeps all of the locks on her doors, some part of her brain still convinced that the curse isn’t broken. but years go by and things are finally okay. shadyside doesn’t feel evil anymore. it feels like a normal town full of normal people.

until, one day, it feels like the old shadyside again and ziggy slips back into her old ways.

explanation of what has drawn them/why they are heading to kilgate:

ziggy is terrified to leave shadyside. the last thing she wants is to go somewhere else when the curse is back. she isn’’t entirely sure that the curse is back but ziggy just knows it. she knows she eventually has to go to this place that she’s drawn to, but it’s going to take deena and sam getting her to make her leave.

Aww ty nonnie! Today’s a little rough, but we’re getting through it so!! As for this wellll

Okay so here’s the thing like it all depends on what the story was that was told to the police that initial night. Now suffice to say in canon Basil wasn’t handcuffed to the bed and there were no officers there to question him or Sunny or keep Sunny protected. One or all of these things would most likely have happened if the story the police got was “One kid stabbed another kid through the eye with garden shears in an attempt to kill/main him”

So with that established let’s talk about what the most likely story is that the police were given- which would be an accident. Now cmon SunnyV, you say, how on earth would the police believe this could be an accident??? Both boys were bruised to high hell and one lost an eye. Well let’s consider who was “witnesses” and what they most likely saw.

Now I supremely doubt that Hero and Polly let Kel and Aubrey in the room, or if they managed to be in there for even a moment they wouldn’t get a good handle on the whole situation. So first off Kel and Aubrey’s only part in this would be “We’re all friends, I don’t know what happened but it has to be an accident” because they would never believe Basil would hurt Sunny

Hero and Polly are a bit of a different story. So in my head this is the way I see it probably working. Sunny screams because he just got his eye gouged with shears, everyone wakes up, Hero and Polly go in and see what happened, Polly calls 911 while Hero tries to help Sunny, they both kick Aubrey and Kel out of the room and keep them out. Polly and Hero can see there was at least a fight of some sort, but they’re also both caretaker type people. They know Basil just went through something. They know that Sunny is….well somethings going on there.

I’m not saying Hero and Polly lied to the police. But I’m saying Hero and Polly lied to the police and with no evidence or witnesses to the opposite, the police would have to give in to the idea of an “accident” especially given that I doubt that Sunny and Basil would have anything different to say when they are inevitably questioned. This is different than the Mari secret in that it’s being told and the so called victims agree so I don’t see keeping this secret as another major trauma on the group.

Now on the question of legality, yeah sure Sunny could tell the police the truth and press charges, and he would get attempted murder at worst and assault with a deadly weapon at best both of which are felonies I’m pretty sure so that’s serious jail time. He could plead insanity and that would be a pretty good case, but in that scenario I don’t see how the whole Mari situation wouldn’t come up and that would be….yeah I just don’t see how anyone in the group says the truth
