The Super Mario All-Stars version of Super Mario Bros. 3 contains this unused "red ice" level. It is one of a set of multiple unused levels present in the original NES version of Super Mario Bros. 3, which was ported over to the SNES version despite remaining unused.

While the level appears normal in the NES version, the SNES version introduces a number of visual glitches such as the ice being red and the water being physically disjointed from its visual appearance (note Mario swimming in mid-air above the water in the top footage).

The bottom footage shows that two types of enemies in the level, Flame Chomps and Fire Snakes, appear glitched and use Nipper Plant sprites for their heads.

I've started working on my Super Mario All Stars romhack again, and my friend made a neat template that helps me showcase the original sprites vs the redrawn sprites and the artwork i'm referencing. I think they look nice.

Super Mario Bros. 1 is nearly done, i'm just having a little bit of a struggle trying to get Bowser right, his animation cycle is perplexing to me. But expect a demo release soon. If I can get a SMB1 demo out, a lost levels demo will follow shortly since i'm no longer aiming to make every sprite in lost levels different.

Akira: I do. Because dad has to drive both of us to our schools. The other car is in the shop remember.

Garth: Can't dad just drive one from the dealership.

Ricardo: Garth. You know Hurts Auto Group is going through some financial trouble. We can't afford not have any of the cars not be at the dealership.

Garth: Fine. Just give me a moment to get dressed.

[Garth puts on a turquoise and black stripe shirt with black sleeves]

Akira: Dont forget your school uniform.

Garth: [Sighs]

[Garth puts on a badly designed vest]

Akira: Let's go now. We'll get tacos for breakfast.

[Time Skip]

Ricardo: Mwah. Bye Aki.

Garth: Bye Mom. Have a good day at School. Good luck teaching Fractions. Love you.

Akira: Bye. Love you two.

Ricardo: Hey Garth.

Garth: Yeah dad.

Ricardo: I heard you are having a job fair today.

Garth: Oh yeah. I forgot about that.

Ricardo: I wanted to bring this up. I want you to start thinking what you're going to do with your life.

Garth: Like what kind of job I want.

Ricardo: Yeah. Why don't look at engineering.

Garth: No thanks.

Ricardo: Why not. There are a lot of jobs that are opening up.

Garth: I really don't see myself in that field.

Ricardo: How about Architecture. you seem like the kind of guy who would want to create.

Garth: maybe I mean there's like a lot of limitations due to the fact that they're safety.

Ricardo: Look. Do you want to become like Uh...

Garth: A Hero.

Ricardo: Garth. When you were younger. It was cute you wanted to be a hero. Like Popeye or Goku.

Garth: Mario. He was the hero I wanted to become like.

Ricardo: Whatever. The point is that you can't do stuff that is within fiction. It's not real.

Garth: I know but...

Ricardo: Look. I'm only telling you this because your mom told me to tell you this.

Garth: [Sigh] Fine. I'll give it some thought. Maybe I'll look into a job where I can try and change the world. Like a politician or something.

[Time skip: Job Fair]

Garth [Inner Monologue]

Man. I still don't know what kind of job I want.

Maybe a doctor a lawyer could be good but I dont want to go to college for longer than 4+ years.

A game developer or writer seems fun. Maybe I can try and find a job doing that. I could even work on a Super Mario Brothers title.

[Time skip: Dinner]

Akira: So Garth. Have you decided what you want to do.

Garth: I was thinking about doing something in gaming. Like writing.

Akira: Oh. That's...Nice.

Garth: You Paused.

Akira: Huh.

Garth: You Paused.

Akira: Well..

Garth: Well what you want me to pick out a profession. I wanted to become like Mario in some way.

I figured this would be a good compromise

Akira: That's fine but don't you consider that maybe you could be an engineer or...

Ricardo: He said he doesn't want to become an engineer.

Akira: Oh. Well Garth.

The reason why I was reluctant was because... I'm kind of worried that you might not have a stable...job.

Garth: Stable Job?

Akira: I'm worried about you. What if you're unable to provide for yourself and.

Garth: provide for myself. Mom, I'm doing something that I love. I'm sure the money will be fine.

Akira. Well if that's what you think... But maybe you could reconsi...

Garth: look the reason why I chose this was because I couldn't have a chance to work on something I'm passionate about. I couldn't be hero and be like Mario. But the very least I can work on something that I know about.

Akira: Look, Garth. I'm not going to be sugar coating this for you. But you seem a bit in denial...

Garth: Mom I'm not in denial. It's just that I want to do something that you clearly don't approve of.

Akira: ...

Garth: ...

Ricardo: ...

Ricardo: I heard that they are making a new Illuminated Movie.

Garth: I lost my appetite. I'll be in my room.

Akira: [Sigh] Don't stay up to late.

[Garth turns on his Super Kopai Entertainment System and sits in a comfy looking chair]

Garth: Let's see how far I can get today.

[Super Mario All Stars starts]

[Garth plays through the first Super Mario Brothers for an unspecified amount of time]

Akira: Garth. Go to bed. Even if it's Friday night. You should still try to get some sleep.

Garth: Fine Mom. Just let me turn off my console.

[Garth flips a switch on the SKES and gets into bed]

[Time Skip:???]

Garth: [Gets out of bed and leaves his room] Morning Mom morning da...Where am I

Brock News reporter: I am standing here at the site of an error of a man made warp transportation.

E Gadd: I'd like to apologize me and my team really messed up but it seems like we had transported an entire room when we meant to get a tennis ball.

Garth: Uh Hello. Does anyone know where I am.

E.Gadd: OH GRAMBI! WE TRANSPORTED A CHILD AS WELL! Someone please get him decontaminated.

Garth: Wait aren't Professor E.Gadd?

Brock News reporter: I'm Frank Folgers and I will be keeping you updated as the story of The Mushroom Kingdom continues.

Garth: Mush... MUSHROOM KINGDOM!!! What is going on exactly?

[Present Day]

Mario: Garth.

Mario: Garth snap out of it.

Garth: What.

Mario: The flight is almost ready. And stop staring at that family over there. It's creepy.

Garth: Oh. Sorry. I'll catch up with you in a bit.
