I started listening to Epic the musical, the one about the trojan horse and 20 year journey and battle. And one of the songs, The Horse and the Infant, gave me an idea. it’s a bit long by the way and there are some changes to canon which are explained at the end.

Jushtin was not a fighter, he was a mathematician, a celebrity, and someone  who was far out of their comfort zone. Solaria should be here, she should be the one rallying the troops, leading the charge...but alas she was not. And it’s because of them that she was not here. Its because of them that he must act as temporal ruler until Festivia is old enough. Its because of them that his grandniece will have no mother nor father. Its because of those vile and despicable monsters that his sister and niece are dead.

So here he is. Giving out orders to a plan that he very much did not make, simply acting out the role the Magic High Commission gave him. 

The attack goes well. Though he is not a fighter he can still hold his own long enough for Hekapoo or Rhombulus to come aid him. So when a monster the size of the house comes to attack him, he looks for them to aid him once again. But they don’t. They don’t even see her! And how could they not?! She was far larger than most monsters, with bright white hair, glowing green eyes, and clover marks on her cheeks. She strikes...but passes right through him.

Gasping for breath he falls to the ground.

“Who was that?” he murmurs, wondering what kind of monster has markings like those of the Butterfly family.

“A vision of what is to come, can not be outrun, can only be dealt with right here and now” he turns and sees Omnitraxus Prime, who confirms that he too saw the female monster.

“Tell me how.” he urges not wanting anymore harm to come to his family.

“I don’t think your ready,” the large being turns to leave for the battle but is blocked by the Butterfly.

“A mission to kill someone's daughter, a foe who won't run, unlike anyone you have faced before.”

“Say no more, I know that I'm ready” he is not but he will not let anyone harm his niece, his last living family.

“I don't think you're ready.” despite saying this he leads him inside the temple. They walk in silence until Jushtin realizes where they are. A nursery with a crib. He creeps towards it and nearly gasps at what he sees.

“It's just an infant, it's just a girl, what sort of imminent threat does she pose that I can not avoid?” its strange seeing a monster infant. She has fangs, claws, a tail, everything that those they fight outside have...and yet she smiles so sweetly at him. Reaching out, wanting to be held. So he does as she reminds him of his niece strangely.

“This is the daughter of none other than Darkness’s very own prince Globgor.”

“...what?” he catches himself loosening his hold on the babe, nearly dropping her.

“Are you really that surprised that a monster, that the Prince of Darkness, wouldn’t be a loyal gentleman to your niece?” without even turning he can see his mocking face

“Well I- not necessarily but...I mean...I had hoped with how she had...described him that he would the very bare minimum.” Eclipsa had spoken so fondly of Globgor. She had admitted his vices and evil deeds but insisted that he had changed, and still was. She voiced her love and devotion for him with the same passion and furiosity as Solaris when on the battlefield. While this didn’t make him trust or approve Globgor it had made him have some expectations of him. 

 Being faithful was one of them.

“Know that she will grow from a girl to an avenger. One fueled with rage as you're consumed by age. If you don't end her now you'll have no one left to save. You can say goodbye to Festivia, you can say goodbye to her.”

For a moment he does not say anything to the being. He thinks. He thinks because thinking is what he is good at. He’s good at solving problems, and this is a problem that he must solve. On one hand she is the daughter of the Prince of Darkness, Globgor, who would surely attack his family when she’s grown. But on the other hand...she’s just a wee babe, no older than Festivia. She shouldn’t have to pay for her father’s crimes.

“I could raise her as my own.” he could raise her as a lady, kind, gentle, caring-

“She will burn your house and throne” he thinks back to her father wrecking havoc on the Spiderbite lands

“Or send her far away from home” there are countless dimensions, surely he could send her to the farthest one

“She'll find you wherever you go” just like her father who found Shastacan

“Make sure her past is never known” he will find a spell to mask her features, destroy all records of her existence, destroy her home even

“The gods will make it known” He knows what the counsel member is going to tell him. To do something even his sister would not do

“You wouldn’t even need to be present. Simply give her to me and let the Magic High Commission deal with her.”

“I'd rather bleed for ya, down on my knees for ya” he cradles the babe to his chest as he does so. Hoping that if he, prince Jushtin of Mewni, brother of the late Solaris, nephew of Queen Eclipsa, begs for the infant’s life that maybe, just maybe she shall live a life outside of a crystal.

“She's bringing you down on your knees for ya” disgust and contempt cover his would be savior’s face. Of course he would be disgusted. A Butterfly begging for the life of the daughter of Globgor? He should be hanged for treason. 

But to crystalize a child, one who hasn’t even taken her first steps...he could never look at his grandniece again if he were to allow this.  “I'm begging you...please...” “...whatever happens next is on your head Boy-Queen. Go. And make sure you cover her less you want to be beheaded by your own army.”

“Thank you, I promise on my sister’s name that no one shall ever find her nor shall she ever learn of who she is.”

He watches the fool leave the nursery, devil spawn still cradled in his arms, covered by his cape.

...he shall have Rhombulus crystalize the scouts who swore that she was not here. Why did the Prince of Darkness’s one good trait be his love for his family? And why did the Boy-Queen have to share that trait?

so for this drabble there are some changes to canon and by changes I mean me creating the order of when each event took place with some tweaks to the actual canon. Like the lie that Eclipsa and Shastacan where eaten by monsters was told to everyone. Including Jushtin who is Eclipsa’s uncle.

So Eclipsa was crystalized and soon after the swap happened. Before the MHC could think of a lie to tell Jushtin of what happened, Globgor finds out what's happened, eats Shastacan and takes back Meteora. So MHC tell Jushtin this with the added lie that Eclipsa too died. Jushtin meets his “niece” Festivia and swears to protect and leads the attack when they find the monster temple. what happens next is shown in the drabble. It’s after the drabble that Jushtin arranges for Meteora to be “adopted” by St. Olga who is later informed by the MHC what’s really happening

Who's your favorite Queen of Mewni?

out of all the ones we know about, i think i have a weird soft spot for jushtin in particular

he doesn't get much in the book but what we have makes him pretty interesting, his mother had such high expectations for him, only for him to not meet them whatsoever and by the sounds of that, her response was to have another baby, a girl, to surpass him

immediately taking away his power and any position he had.

jushtin absolutely is very irresponsible, and didn't take the role as a future heir seriously, but at the same time the fact his mom basically gave up on him and had another child just so he no longer had to be the heir is kinda screwed up and a little heartbreaking.

he still does some diplomatic stuff later in life so it seems he wasn't fully out of the picture and i'm going to assume his life with his wife was happy, tho we never hear much about any of these butterfly branch families after the fact......but he's clearly very smart so really it sounds like his mother just didn't care to really help him improve.

you can't help but feel kinda bad for him, he's the only queen that has a backstory even like this.

Yeah festivia gave cresenta the throne instead of dirhhennia, also implying she gave up on dirhh as well, but the book never implies she gave birth to cressie BECAUSE of dirhh, it comes off more like cressie was just the better canidate (As messed up as cressie is).

also, gotta admit, him being solaria's brother is super interesting, i just kinda wish it was actually explored because it really isn't in either of their chapters, or even eclipsa's, and it sure is not in the show.

I dunno, wasted potential if you ask me.

if you can give star vs anything, lotta great ideas, just....usually either unexplored or mishandled.

Also, him having clover markings while being inherently unlucky is great btw

The boy Queen Jushtin Butterfly the Uncalculated

I firmly believe that Jushtin Butterfly, the only male holder of the wand in either butterfly line, son of Skywynne Butterfly, older brother to Solaria Butterfly, Uncle to Eclipsa Butterfly, is a Transman and gay(mlm).

Meaning he can go through Mewberty, because only biological female Butterfly members go through Mewberty.

I don’t think the Mewmans are that bright and just thought “Oh, I didn’t know Queen Skywynne had a son, I thought she had- Oh never mind. Yay, first male queen!”

Honestly I just get a trans twink vibe from him, that’s mostly why I think this, and the other part is because he’s the only male holder.

I finally got a physical copy of the book of spells a month ago and i finally got to see Rhina and Jushtin my beloveds.

OK I have a theory, you know jushtin the uncalculated,Skywynnes first son, well in the book of spells it is said that jushtin has to give up his thrown due to the fact that it is a monarchy (the butterfly family). And solaria was bon to be a girl after the moon pod confirmed the gender. But I was thinking, what if, the reason why the butterfly family is monarchy, is because men, biologically, in the butterfly family, were infertile. I mean we don't hear about jushtins children at all. and in the book of spells, in eclipas chapter we hear that, when she was forced to dance with prince shastican,and marry. Is when we hear that when jushtin was sent off to marry a cousin of shastian [I believe] we hear that nothing benefited from the marriage. Due to the fact that the men, biologically, in the butterfly family is infertile. So that's why shastican and eclipsa were forcefly engaged to each other, not only to get the spider bites resources. But to fix that arrangement, so that way everything was good with the spider bites, financially and beneficially. I believe jushtin was sent to the spider bites to unites the resources of them to help aid in the war. And when that didn't work, they decided that eclipsa and shastican should make up for it.

One thing I always find weird is how much people seem to treat it like fact that Skywynne was pressured to have Solaria by the people of Mewni because they didn’t want Jushtin to be ruler after her.

Because I read the Magic Book of Spells, and I always felt like Skywynne had gotten pregnant with Solaria on purpose....because while she did love Jushtin, I’m sure, she realized she couldn’t trust him with the book after he apparently left it in a bin where they dump the waste from the warnicorns in the stable. And Skywynne’s own chapter makes it clear how much she cares about the Spellbook, both the one that burned when she was supposed to get the Wand, as well as the one we all know, which she actually created.

So, I really do think she decided to have another child in the hopes of it being a girl, because that meant she’d have the Book back for almost another fifteen years, and, in her eyes, that meant the book would be safe.

POV: Solaria and Eclipsa go to Spiderbite Kingdom (this is part 2 in my AU) (This takes 20 years after this post)

Solaria: So, this is my sister in-law? Duchess Recluza: Trust me, I hate this as much as you do. Solaria: Oh no, I don't hate this. I in fact, am really happy to have a sister. Well, a sister-in-law. Recluza: Well just know that I don't. Pretty much everyone in this kingdom hates you. Solaria: Recluza, understand that truly nobody cares about this kingdom and if anything, your kingdom, just like the others, are less important than Butterfly Kingdom. Jushtin: Solaria, leave my wife alone. Also, stop colonizing every kingdom known to man. You already had to do it with the Cloud Kingdom, and if anything, that's more than enough. Solaria: Okay but I genuinely have a question. When you first told me that you wanted to quote-unquote "start living a life you could be proud of", I never thought that this is what you mean by that. So, genuinely, are you proud of this life? Jushtin: Yes, and if anything, I couldn't be any happier. Eclipsa: Honestly, I don't understand how you and Recluza of all people were able to get married. I mean, you two are complete polar opposites. Jushtin: Okay, and? I still love her. Is that so wrong? Eclipsa: I mean, no. But just, why her of all people? What makes her so special? Jushtin: She's pretty nice, she isn't afraid to be honest, she doesn't really care about what others think, and she's pretty rude. Eclipsa: How could you like someone that is rude? Jushtin: I just do. I don't need to explain myself. Solaria: Well personally, I'm starting to believe more and more by the minute that you chose her just for her looks. Jushtin: Again, her looks are barley even a quarter of the reason of why I married her. I married her for her personality. Solaria: Okay well, can you tell us why you invited us here? Recluza: We invited you here to tell you that we will not be helping you out in your anti-monster campaign. Not only do we and the rest of the kingdom already hate you, but you're just a racist piece of shit and having to be alliances with Butterfly Kingdom is more than enough in my book. Unless you're only planning on killing Globgor, the quote-unquote "prince of darkness", then we won't be helping you. Jushtin: Plus, I already had to deal with you during that stupid ass diplomatic mission, so I don't wanna be associated with you ever again. You and Eclipsa can leave now. Bye! Solaria: Come on! Why not!? Jushtin: We've already told you why not. So, bye! Eclipsa: Sorry but, I have to justify my mother. Our kingdom didn't gain jack shit from you marrying Recluza, the least this kingdom can do is help us out in my mom's campaign. Recluza: Well, I didn't know that apparently in Butterfly Kingdom, someone's happiness means you have to gain something out of it. Again, we're not helping you guys. Either leave now, or we're getting security. Solaria: You know what? This kingdom isn't even worth our time. Come on Eclipsa, let's just go.
