Repostober day 8: would be silly of me not to at least show some teetles huh?

These were doodle requests I did a while back on Ko-Fi to help me get through college somewhat. I can draw doodles pretty fast and I only charged like 5-10 bucks for each one and had fun doing them!

I might open doodle request up again in the future, but no ask that I got recently, not for free “of course”. I am an artist by trade and making art for others is still a service, a luxury service as a matter of fact. Don’t be rude to artists out there by asking for free stuff.

bilingual tmnt 2012 and rotmnt head cannons!!

Ok so I’m Mexican American (ew america) and my mom was born and raised in Mexico

Yet I’m not bilingual

I’m taking Spanish class in my high school

This is what I think the rottmnt kids are going thru

My mother had to assimilate to get a job here. And I think that’s what rottmnt Yoshi had to do too.

But my mother refused to make my first language spanish, she wanted my life here to be easier.

I think Yoshi didn't want to be reminded of what he left behind.

He used his ninjitsu skills to become a movie star and actively runs away from his heritage from the show.

Not that he doesn't want to be Japanese, or that he wants to forget that part of himself, but he wanted to branch out and be Lou Jitsu, and japanese tradition and culture are not as important to him and his identity as 2012 Splinter.

He ran away from tradition.

I firmly hc that the rottmnt turtle know japanese in the way I know spanish; nothing beside the scoldings and the frustrated mumbling of their father.

"Kuso!" Their dad will yell as he stubs his foot.

"Konoyarou," He mumbles as he talks about a person who screamed at the sight of him.

"No Blue! Aho! Don't eat random stuff off the floor!"

I hc that rottmnt Splinter has a potty mouth, and because of the all his kids know is how to curse and scold someone in japanese, which you know, they use to insult each other.

The rottmnt kids have to go out of their way to learn japanese, it's an underlying language in their home and a part of their heritage, but they live like third generation immigrants.

As opposed to the 2012 turtles, whose first language was most definitely japanese.

2012 Splinter grew up, fell in love, and lived in Japan for the majority of his life. He loved his heritage and tradition, the only reason he moved to New York was because he was literally running for his life. It was chance that he ended up in America.

In Japanese schools, much like many other schools in different countries, have a class that teaches english bc ya know, it's the national language bc british and american ppl be pissbabies. So Splinter learned english, and like the good student he was, was good at it.

That why for he lived there he could live comfortably and could talk to others (like the pet shop owner), bc he already knew english.

Then he got mutated and four sons lmao.

So he raised them the way he was raised; traditionally japanese. The language, the tradition, the customs, everything.

So all the tmnt teetles are fluent in japanese, and a part of the reason they were not allowed topside before they were 15 is because they weren't done learning english yet.

They often forget words in english, and in the heat of the moment, it's the first language that comes up.

Raph and Mikey's english slang comes from the comics they've read and the movies they watched.

Leo's english mimics basic english textbooks and Captain Ryan's

Donnie sounds like an encyclopedia bc that's where he gets most of his vocabulary from.

TLDR: The rottmnt turtles only know insults and curse words in japanese while the 2012 turtles are bilingual; fluent in both Japanese and English because of the way their respective Splinters raised them.

Unlike a certain group of teetles, the miyamotos have morals. And seeing the horrors mona lisa goes through im now wondering what they think of all the messed up stuff their respective teetle counterparts do. Im especially curious about ishida’s view on mona lisa and what don did to her.

Also, I will inhale any raph and chizu crumbs like a black hole.

The bunnies do have morals, but they also have survival instinct. With Mona, she is unable to be freed really because of how her muzzle works, and how Donnie has broken her mentally, Mona isn't working to escape because of Stolkholm syndrome, and she'd starve or lose her teeth if she did escape.

Chizu has actually never met Mona, they put her in her cage if Chizu is over bc Chizu would throw a fit over it. She knows Raph has anger issues but hasn't ever SEEN Raph hurt someone else. She'd be more cautious if she had.

Ishida kinda uses himself as a meat shield because he doesn't like Donnie experimenting on other creatures, especially ones who clearly don't consent (so he'll, say, take the place of a dog Donnie was gonna test on). He hates that Don has locked up Mona and broken her so deeply, but is unable to do much about it, so he mostly does what he can to make her life as nice as possible (like feeding her from the dinner table or bringing her markers w/o Donnie knowing).

Usagi became completely numb to Leo after a while, after the standard horror and all-consuming terror that meeting the Hamatos brings. Usagi treats Mona nicely, but also tends to treat her like a pet like the Hamatos do, perhaps a bit nicer but she makes him uncomfy. Mona is very sweet and caring to Usagi, she knows he's stuck like she is.

Kenichi doesn't interact with her much but is in the same boat as Ishida, he doesn't like it but can't DO much. Kenichi is a fixer in the end, he knows and hates a lot of what Mikey says and does, but he wants to fix Mikey and make him better and give him a good influence, so he stays and tries and savors every minor slight glimpse of humanity Mikey shows.

technically I already answered this one but it feels like it's good for me to come up with more good things going on in my life right now.

I realized recently that I'd calculated monthly income incorrectly and there's a much better margin between it and spending than I thought there was, which was a really nice surprise to get.

I'm starting planning for summer and there's some fun things that @ameliarating and I might do, no settled plans but several ideas all of which would be enjoyable and are exciting to consider.

cat. seriously though, she's always a good thing in my life, during the work day she comes and hangs out on my lap sometimes and it makes everything at least a little bit better.

i absolutely loved this trailer,, and im excited / anxious for this movie!!!

ok so first im gonna talk about the art style.. which i find beautiful.

the art style and animation are very much spiderverse-y,, and i dont have anything against that! i mean the spiderverse movie was like eye candy,, and im really happy that other animated movies get to be like spiderverse in sense of animation,, it's absolutely awesome that mutant mayhem's also gonna try out this aesthetic!!!

and now,, the teetles

i love them. i adore them. they're so small 😭

something everyone pointed out is how Leo was like anxious almost all the time while donnie,, mikey and raph were playing live action-style fruit ninja. which is a nice detail! but pls give leo a rest he always has to carry the hard stuff.

but oh well,, we all know they wont let leo rest.

Leo is absolutely jealous that Raph has eyelashes. (Funfact if you didn't know already but alligator snappers are the only teetles to have eyelashes) that doesn't stop him from insisting on putting eyeliner and mascara and stuff on them and doing Raph's makeup up becaue if his big bro got them he might as well flaunt then (its a fun bonding experience for them)

I love the fact that I gave each of the GPR Teetles a random Turtle Trait that none of the others have and how it helps to explain small things about their character.

Like Raphael being the only one with the composition needed to fit in his shell, Leo's water dependency and longer ability to hold oxygen, Dannie's need for turtle-safe foods as opposed to regular human foods, and Michael's inability to regulate his body temperature on his own.

It's just neat and it's a fun way to incorporate stuff about them that I otherwise don't get to show very often!
