im curious about what specifically you'd change about it? was it the state of the relationship that made it hard? like, we came in when it was already on the rocks and the boys were gone, would you have rather shown it more linearly/with more of a start in the good times? i hope u have a good week!! i just want to pick ur brain 👁️👁️

If I re-wrote it: It would start just before The End. I would open with the No Contact era as present timeline, and then feature flashbacks from the beginning, middle, and false end (chapter 1). Current timeline would lead all the way up until The End, and the flashback timeline would lead up to what Simon said outside the bar, and when Darling left.

That’s how I like it best in my mind. It would be hard to create buy in for the relationship this way for a reader, but I like that. So many romance stories are sweet and lovely and that’s wonderful but sometimes I want something to feel the way I did every time I got trampled on, or had my heart crushed. I feel like starting in the No Contact era or just before would give me that.

If I decided to write it as a book: I’d start it from the highest point or the New Flat Shopping scene, to create the reader buy in… and then promptly trounce their hearts

Wondering if you'd be interested in writing a Cicero x Listener, with a Cicero who hates the Listener but is to loyal to the Tenets to admit that to himself?

“Come here, my Cicero, my dear,” they say. They order. So condescending. My dear. My my mine my mine. Of course, though, it is true. He is theirs. He has made monuments of that truth in actions, in fluids, the shapes he writes, his own blood on their thighs. The way he kills on their order, sleeps on their order, breathes on their order. It is their prerogative. And in the same fashion they, who outstrips him in everything, who sups at the Night Mother’s dry husk of a breast, who could have killed him once and should have taken the chance when they had it, do not belong to Cicero. They belong to no one. Are accountable to no one. Least of all the poor Keeper. 

Sometimes he worries that the Dread Lord will become tired of it and strike them down. Other days he simply prays that their Father will see his loyalty and spare him that repercussion. Other days still he knows that he has fallen prey, and lost himself, and deserves everything coming to them and more. And then on each of those days he comes to his senses, and prays to be released from his own heretical thoughts. He reminds himself that he loves the Listener. He reminds himself so often. 

He rises from where he had knelt at their feet, follows their gestures, sits in their lap. They smell good; clean and like wind and autumn fruit. They kiss him and they taste of full, sweet wine, and they grip his side, and he moans. He could reach out now and strangle them. He could bash their skull against the stone wall until it busted open, their brain red and wet and soft like jam. He could sink inside of them and claw his way out; rip them open from the depths. He could he could he could he could. He could not! He would never. Mother chose them. After all. Out of all, out of anyone, Mother chose them. And they chose him. And that was. That was an honor. 

Is he lying? Is he lying to the Listener? To Mother? Oh no no. Oh no. Oh never. He would never. But when they run their hand through his hair he knows he's a pet. Feels what he has been reduced to. Knows that every moment he falls into it, enjoys it, the praise and attention, is a little lie he's telling to himself. He tries to fall into it anyway, enjoy it anyway. If this is what Sithis laid out for him he has no recourse but to obey. But each day the ties that bind him to the stone altar of devotion abrade against its unpolished edges. They grow thinner. They will snap. 

And what will loyal Cicero be then?

For a decent of time, they're the only ones in Mordred during the day. Tracker was, at this point, starting to do research the things she ended up doing on her mission in Fallinel, and everyone else was at work. So the three of them started to talk out their shit. Why they made the choices they did. The people who hurt them. The things they can't justify, but just have to move on from.

They play into Zayn being a ghost a decent amount. They like to see what he can interact with, he spends time when they're alone possessing objects and seeing how long it takes them to figure it out. They just allow themselves to have fun. And it's the right choice for them.

They have some sort of system down for when they're feeling angry and their issues might be perceived as not great from other inhabitants of the house. They separate from the group, if necessary, and talk things and emotions out with each other. And sometimes, Aelwyn soundproofs a room so she and Ragh can scream at each other about nothing, to let the emotions of something that's happening and everything they've been through go.

Ok, so I cheated a little because there were a lot of documents, which obviously I can't show, plus a lot of nearly repeated pictures.

1. Last book I finished (and new ship obsession, hello!)

2. I bought these buns for the first time. I was showing them to my best friend because some were really cute. They were quite good.

3. I bought new pens. Also showing them to the bestie, as well as posting them here to ask people to send me things to write.

4. Mah face. I think I was having a good hair day and wanted pictures. Oh, I remember! I think I was surprised because I walked in the rain and my hair looked better after it got wet.

5. I dressed up as a modern Snow White for Halloween at work.

okay so. im just gonna do bullet points bc thats what i have brain for rn. i dont know what the actual plot of their route would look like. that doesn't matter. nobody is here for the plot. anyway.

PRE-ROUTE:

you'd get them interested in you by showing off your knowledge in [plot-relevant subject]. they appreciate confidence and passion!!! they would ask for your help on a project or smth (the "project" is their ongoing need for life force) and then they would offer to bite you. if you accept, you get to progress to the rest of their route!

GOOD END:

this was actually. Really hard. i think it would be pretty hard to get their good end! you'd have to walk a very delicate balance of not pushing them away too much but also not letting them walk all over you. im not sure what the good end would look like because tara isn't interesting to me when they're, uh, normal.

NEUTRAL END:

if you turn down their offers of care too often, they would just...break it off. they like to feel like they're being nice! there would be no hard feelings, but you would go your separate ways.

BAD END:

if you let them take over your decisions too many times, they will stop asking you what you want. you will become a prized possession in their collection, draped in pretty silks and velvet, and you will be so so pampered. you will also never see the sun again. you poor, lovely thing. the world is so cruel and confusing. you want to stay here where it's simple and safe, don't you?

What’s your favorite fic that you’ve written?

ohhhhhh it is so hard to choose between my children but RIGHT NOW my gut is telling me it's We Can Hold You, my collective narrator Harrow Nova/Alecto dream not-exactly-sex-but-not-not-sex with background Gideon &/ Harrow.

I was working off a prompt for IdProQuo, and Nova/Alecto was a ship I hadn't even considered before but the prompt was so intriguing and RTMI that I grabbed it. i LOVE Harrow Nova AUs (my favorite Harrow to write), plus fiddling with canon to make Nova and Alecto even MEET much less suck face was a ton of fun, I felt soooooo >:3 when I figured it out.

Also I loved writing (my headcanon of) Alecto's version of desire. IMO she is like the ocean. does the ocean want to fuck? unclear, but it definitely wants to consume.

What’s a fic idea you’ve had that you will never write?

*scrolls through my WIP list document* i have hope for most of them (even when that hope is very slim...) (or when the fic is so indulgent hope isn't even on the table). but whenever i think of a specific fic idea to be "ill never write this" to im like (thinking emoji) well actually.... (<- delusional)

IDK if I had to pick, probably most of my long plotty modern AU fic ideas. i LOVE long plotty modern AUs, writing a long plotty modern AU is like, a dream of mine & as my DMs can attest i am not in any way short of ideas, but i don't think any of them will be happening anytime soon every time I sit down to write one of those ideas it just does not go well

If you could see one of your fics adapted into a visual medium, such as comic or film, which fan fic would you pick?

HMMM I'd probably go with Bury Me, Bury Me, my Kiriona/Ianthe fic where no one gets off and no one is having a good time and where I finally assert my long held personal headcanons about Kiriona's stigmata/what she allows to be done with it. a comment said "I'm not sure if I'd count this as sex or like two people beating the shit out of each other in an Applebee's parking lot but it's not assault because they both agreed to fight" and it's correct.

I'd want to make it a comic book, because a logline of the fic is that Kiriona has no sexual experience whatsoever and her only point of reference is porn comics, that she tries to replicate here to limited & personally ruinous results. OR maybe a music video/AMV, because I need to inflict my Kiriona-is-in-her-edgy-2010's-alt-music-era headcanon on people

I'll never be able to put to words how this song makes me feel. I'll never be able to explain how any of Andy Hull's music makes me feel, actually, and this collaboration with Kevin Devine was just... I can't explain it. This song makes me feel like my heart is trying to claw it's way out of my chest and kill me. It splits a black void open in the bottom of my stomach and tries to turn me inside out. This song isn't on any of my daily playlists or anything like that because I actually cannot be a functional human after listening to it, sometimes. Clearly, I have very strong emotional attachment to it. It's beautiful.

1. vodka soda, wedge of lime. the classic, dependable, tasty, and the least likely to leave me with a hangover. (fun fact, I started specifying a wedge of lime rather than just "with lime" because when I lived in amsterdam, they would serve it with lime cordial, which I detest. I've mostly kicked the habit of asking for it like that, but every once in a while it comes roaring back)

2. champagne. the best part about being a grownup is realizing that champagne is not just for special occasions. it's for whenever I want it.  (yes prosecco is delicious and an amazing bargain but champagne is my love)

3. coffee (hot) with half & half. my love and beloved, the reason I get out of bed every day. it's not just about the caffeine, it’s about sitting on couch by myself in silence with a delicious hot beverage while I read tumblr like the morning paper

4. dirty martini with blue cheese olives. it's a drink and a meal and a forever friend. I prefer it served on the rocks. keeps it cold and less potential for me to spill it all over myself

5. cosmopolitan - don't let the sugary premade mixes fool you, a real cosmo is tart and strong and delicious and just a tiny bit sweet. pale pink or gtfo. for this drink, I'm willing to risk knocking over a coupe glass like the hot mess I am.

(honorable mention for green tea lattes and chai lattes, which i go feral for but i cannot bring myself to down a huge cup of whole milk on the reg. and they just aren't the same with any other milk option)

7. Thoughts on Yoko Ono?

I’m agnostic on Yoko probably. Like most people on here have said, I think it’s ridiculous that over 50 years after the fact, some people still make her out to be the cartoon villain of the Beatles break up, I don’t think she went into that environment to break them up and it’s more likely that she just wanted a platform for her art and recognised that collaborating with John would be a good way to do that. Now saying that Yoko didn’t break them up doesn’t mean that she had no role to play in what happened, so I do get a bit frustrated when people feel the need to be so black and white about Yoko, she either wrenched John away from the band and salted the earth behind her or was “Get Back” Yoko who just quietly knitted through the sessions and had zero input into the deterioration of relationships in the band. I think if someone put a gun to my head I’d say Yoko was more a symptom than a cause of the breakdown in John and Paul’s relationship, obviously her presence had a negative impact on the band dynamic but I don’t think she would have ever been there if John didn’t want/need her there, so I personally find the reason behind John’s need to have Yoko there 24/7 more interesting than examining Yoko’s impact once she is there, but maybe that’s just me. As for Yoko’s art/music I’ve never really looked into it so I can’t say too much about that but good for her for finding her niche.

8. Did you like Paul's beard?

If you showed me bearded Paul before I got into the Beatles, I probably would’ve said no because to me the quintessential Beatles look was 1963/64 clean shaven mop-top era… but now as a Beatles obsessive, I very much like the McBeardy era, I mean look at him 🥺:

9. Is there a song that you feel gets more attention than it needs?

This is tough just thinking of Beatles songs…

Maybe songs like Here There and Everywhere and She Said She Said? HTAE because it’s just never grabbed me much but it gets attention because both John and Paul rated it so highly. She Said She Said because I think it gets attention more for the drama surrounding it (Why exactly did Paul quit the sessions? Why did George go to Kenwood to help John finish the song?) and again the song itself doesn’t grab me much either so the attention seems a bit oversized.

If we’re talking solo, I don’t get the Instant Karma hype, it just seems very ploddy and repetitive to me and that it being John’s first hit out of the Beatles seems to really carry weight, I think Cold Turkey is the way more superior and dynamic song in that era, just my opinion of course though! 😊

Yuichi 'Ichi' Saikawa is a top tier combatant in Wall Market's Coliseum. He's a fan favorite who began as a construction worker and quickly became famous for taking down a rogue coeurl at his worksite with little more than brute strength and a pair of electrical insulated gloves. Word about a man that managed to wrestle a wild cat two times his size gets around, fast.

He proved to be a bit of a problem for Don Corneo since he refused to take scripted losses, but Jae later ousting the Don from his seat of undisputed power lead to a more 'honest' reform for the Coliseum matches in general.

hello!! what are your opinions about piper (from rrverse)

Short answer: I love her! Soooo much!

Longer answer: I really love the idea of Piper, but I think Riordan didn’t really utilise her potential as a character to its fullest? This could be said about most of the HoO characters, but I feel this especially with Piper (maybe because I love her a lot so I think about her a lot lmao) who has an extremely interesting arc and backstory, but was handled really poorly and like, lacklustre-ly at times. Also, Riordan definitely should have done proper research about her heritage beforehand, or had a sensitivity writer or two look through his books. I don’t particularly like the term “irresponsible representation” personally, because lately it’s really morphed into “why doesn’t the author mould this character EXACTLY based on my individual experience”, but in Piper’s case I think that criticism fits. Just...more care could have gone in, you know?

I think her relationship with her Dad was the first thing that really captured my interest about her, you know? She was definitely the character I cared most about in TLH the first time around haha. Leo was too popular at that time for edgy ten year old me, and I inexplicably hated Jason. I think that time I just found her and her powers cool (and Katoptris!) but in hindsight, she parallels Percy circa TLT to a point and he was my favourite character. So. Clearly I have a type! In TLT, when Annabeth comments about how she was impressed that Percy took on the quest to save his mother, and he’s like duh wouldn’t you for your dad and she’s like pfft he wishes? The concept of there being some sort of duty towards your parents is very fascinating to me, because some of them...just don’t deserve that! That’s a pretty central theme in PJO I feel, except it naturally investigates about the GODLY parents, and is given the name faith instead. 

But Piper really grapples with that! She has a complicated relationship with Tristan; she loves Tristan. She feels neglected by Tristan. (She IS neglected by Tristan). She knows he loves her. She doesn’t know if she’s always his first priority. She wants to share in their heritage with him. She can’t share her mother’s with him, not really. Her lying to her friends about the quest and her true desires were SO good as a choice, I love problems and lies. She doesn’t get to have the same easiness that Percy-Sally have, but she still chooses to go on that same journey. And in the end, she can’t even TELL Tristan about any of it. 

The way Tristan and Piper are consistently fucked up by the gods right through TOA really drives home why in the end, she is the one who leaves the mythological world as far behind as she can. I think it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that more than anyone else in the books, she’s the one who’s lines are most jagged in this world. It makes a lot of sense that she left! In one of the HoO books she is thinking about her mother being so old (or just the gods in general idr) and she goes no wonder they’re crazy, after going through so much change, I feel insane after the mere months of change I have had. I think that’s an intriguing character note. She feels she doesn’t do well with change, but she is forced to change and uproot so many times throughout the books. 

I’ve always thought the Lost Trio were the most cohesive trio in the books, they just all FIT. It’s very funny how I enjoy every other combination/pairing in the trio more than Jasper as a romantic couple but that’s neither here nor there lmao. Leo and Piper are the FUNNEST pair of best friends, I find their friendship the sweetest. I hope we get to see them in contact with each other in whichever new content we get. They’re the most vital connection to each other. 

But I still ALSO like Jason and Piper’s complicated dumbass equation. Very teenage-y. Very tragic. I think no matter the type of relationship they had, no matter what she may go on to discover about herself, Piper will always consider it a formative and important part of her life, and remember it, even if with some pain, also with a lot of fondness.

Piper’s someone who has a lot of potential  for interesting dynamics with all other characters too. I think the idea of her having puppy crush on Annabeth is quite cute, and even regardless of it, I like what we get in the books. Wish we could get more of them. Same with Hazel and Frank. CRIMINAL that we just breezed through the Frank and Piper bonding quest in BOO. Reyna and Piper...again lost potential. When did they get close-adjacent and why couldn’t we see it? But her calling Percy unimpressive was top ten most based decisions imo 🔥 always maintain that.

Also I think exploring her relationship with Aphrodite and Drew and the rest of the cabin and even the complicated memory of Silena is VERY INTERESTING. But that’s purely non-canon, so I’m not going to talk about that now. It’s all in my head.

I remember Alex @/narcissuscore made this Piper being queercoded post (I think?? It’s been a while correct me if I’m wrong Alex😭) just after the Burning Maze came out and it truly was A Moment when TON came out and we realised Piper was working on exploring herself and her sexuality outside of godly expectations and imposed heteronormativity. I think that was a really good writing choice, and shame that it came so late we couldn’t explore it further, but I personally have great love for that arc she is going through. It’s very sweet, even if I admit I have not thought about Shel in my life ever. But what it means to Piper is very nice. 

Okay, anon you asked for none of this, I just rambled on and on about Piper. 😭😂sorry about that, but I do love her even with the flawed writing, and it was nice to write it out and see what resonated most in her story for me. It’s been a while since I’ve actually thought about these characters!
