Since the MC can have red eyes, did they have them as a human or is it something that happened when they were turned? Are red eyes common? I understand that C’s eyes are red. Sort of.

I’ll mainly leave that up for you all to HC, but I can say that the venom can change certain facets of the individual it’s changing (not to a serious degree… barring, you know, becoming a vampire)… For instance, Helena used to have golden white hair but now it’s more white. So, you could say that your MC had reddish brown eyes, or something close to it, and the venom just decided to make them red as the change occurred. As that’s entirely possible.

I wouldn’t say red eyes are uncommon, but I suppose it’d just depend on the species. Zephyr has red eyes too. And, in C’s case, it’s sort of a showing of who they are as phoenixes typically have one eye color (like Ash with their silver eyes), but since C is the heir their inner fire is a bit stronger than normal phoenixes.

I hope that made sense— I’m not the best at explaining things sometimes.

NQD 24 actually has an alternative version, which will be shared with our patreon supporters after the end of the season! It'll be really interesting to hear their thoughts on the differences between the two versions.

I also thought about potentially releasing the alt version of 24 to them at the same time as they got early access - in the end, though, I decided not to as I think it may give away too much about what happens in the next couple of episodes. This is part of the reason it was so substantially rewritten, but not the main reason, weirdly!

#it's just interesting to keep hold of these bits and pieces #it's actually super rare for me to write a whole episode and rewrite it so extensively and not absolutely hate the old version #like sometimes with SBR I'd rewrite and episode but it was always bc I'd read it through and be like 'ew'#where with this one it was more like 'i think this could be better if i approached it from a different angle #but there is a lot about the OG version i really enjoy #it's just not as good for audio as the release version #hence #the change #not quite dead #audio drama #not quite dead podcast #not quite dead pod #nqd pod #nqd #eira speaks
