So obviously I love the Doctor's and Amy's relationship. But I do not enjoy that scene at the end of Flesh and Stone. And I believe the Doctor should have met Mels as early as during The Eleventh Hour So I -
Tumblr media
They are sitting on Amy’s bed, looking at her wedding dress hanging on the inside of her closet.
“Well” the Doctor says for loss of better words.
“Yeah” Amy answers.
“Blimey” he says. ‘I’ve been running, too’ Amy has said when they were in the TARDIS just now. Running from her wedding.
“I know” Amy agrees, swaying a bit back and forth. “This is the same night we left, yeah?”
He checks his wrist, not even wearing a watch that would tell the correct time. But he knows, of course. He’s a timelord after all. “We’ve been gone five minutes.”
Amy reaches for the ring box in her nightstand, flipping it open. “I’m getting married in the morning.”
He snatches it from her hands, tapping the small diamond. “Why did you leave it here?”
“Why did I leave my engagement ring off when I run away on the night before my wedding?” she asks, unsure whether he really doesn’t understand or is just playing with her.
“Yeah.” He really doesn’t understand.
“Hm” she hums, snatching the ring back. “You really are an alien, aren’t you?”
He nods absentmindedly. “Who’s the lucky one, then?”
“You met each other” she tells him and his face lights up.
“Ah, the good-looking one?” he asks. “Or the other one?”
He mimics a long nose and Amy’s face darkens. “The other one.”
“Well, he was good, too” he placates her, and she chuckles.
“Thanks” she says, before frowning. “Who’s ‘the good-looking one’?”
“Your friend” he tries to describe who he’s thinking of. “The one with the laptop and the gun.”
“Mels?!” Amy asks scandalised. “You thought I was marrying Mels? Ew, no. I mean, I love her, I do. But…she’s like my sister. You know? Like the little sibling you always have to look out for because they get themselves into trouble? I would not marry my sister.”
“Right” he agrees, unable to follow.
Amy looks thoughtful now.
“Mels is part of the reason I wanted to return, though” she admits.
“Which reason?” he asks.
“I nearly died” she reminds him. “I was alone, in the dark and I nearly died. And it made me think.”
“Well, yes naturally, I think sometimes” he chimes in. “Well, lots of times.”
“About what I want” she continues, unimpressed. “And about what I am risking. You know what I mean?”
“Yeah” he nods, then shakes his head. “-No. Sorry.”
Amy sighs. “Doctor, if I had died back there, if an angel had gotten me, I would have just disappeared. On the night before my wedding, without saying goodbye. Rory and Mels, I would have just left them behind, without warning or explanation. I didn’t die, so they will never have to know now, but the fact that I risked it. That I risked just leaving them like that. That was wrong.”
She reaches for his hand.
“That’s why I wanted to come back now” she explains. “I don’t want to stop traveling with you. But I have to at least let them know what I am doing and what could happen. I owe them that much.”
He holds her hand tightly, smiling. “They could always come along, you know?”
“What? So, you can spend more time with the ‘good-looking one’ or what?” she teases and realises with a start: “Oh my god: You like Mels!”
She almost pounces on him in excitement and hurriedly he scrambles away from her and off the bed. “No - NO! Amy!”
“You Like Mels” she exclaims in triumph. “Do you want me to set you two up?”
“Ye-No!” he shouts, waving his arms to get her off him when she tries to grab his shoulders.
“But it would be perfect, Doctor” she insists, backing him against the TARDIS with her damned gleeful smirk. “I am positive Mels likes you, too. She’s been talking about nothing else ever since you left.”
“Amy, listen to me!” he pleads, pressing against the TARDIS door in search for support. “I am nine hundred and seven years old. Do you understand what that means?”
He walks past her to get out of the corner she has backed him into, but she is right on his heels.
“It has been a while?” she proposes. With all the social clues he is constantly missing it would not be a surprise.
“Ye-No. No. No” he insists wringing his hands. “I am nine hundred and seven years and look at me: I don’t get older, I just change. You lot get older, I don’t. So, me and Mels can’t ever work.”
“Aw” Amy coos. Somehow, she has chased him towards the TARDIS door again and now she is smiling with something like pitiful amuse. “You are sweet, Doctor. But don’t worry about that. I don’t think Mels is expecting something quite so long-term, really.”
“But she’s human!” he tries again, then decides on the spot to change his strategy. “Why are we even talking about this? You’re the one who’s getting married in the morning!”
Suddenly he’s realising something.
“In the morning” he repeats more slowly, and she can basically see the gears turn behind his forehead.
“Doctor?” she asks, immediately having forgotten about Mels and her plans to set them up.
“It’s you” he understands. “It’s all about you. E-everything. It’s about you. Amy Pond. Mad, impossible Amy Pond. I don’t know why, I have no idea but quite possibly, the single most important thing in the history of the universe is that I get you sorted out right now.”
He grabs her hand and Amy smiles, confused but pleased.
“Alright then” she agrees, letting him drag her to the TARDIS. “Let’s go.”
There. Fixed it.

If I had a nickel for every time the Doctor had a sassy ginger companion he referred to as his best friend, and then said ginger companion had a daughter whose name begins with R (and was not the name they were born with) and this daughter even though human, has certain time lord characteristics due to complex plot reasons, I’d have two nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice.

New Face (11th Doctor x Timelord!Reader)
watch me make a series out of a oneshot that was very much not meant to be a series— anyway, one david tennant hyperfixation led to another and now I'm rewatching Matt Smith's run as The Doctor and you know what that means!
Also requests are open!
Wordcount: 1.4k
Series masterpost
Summery: a new face a new doctor and the start of a new adventure with a lovely little girl who just wants a ride in a time machine.
Tumblr media
Things change quickly with the Doctor. You knew that well.
One moment you're comforting the face that rescued you the next you're putting out fires around the Tardis as it wildly flies over the skies of London.
"A little help over here!" The Doctor cried, he's barely holding onto the edge of the Tardis, his body hanging out through the front doors. His new voice is higher than the one you knew.
"In a minute love!" You yell back, there was no other option than yelling over the explosions of the console and the many alarms going off.
Another explosion rocked the Tardis and the Doctor manages to pull himself up as you adjust the angle at which the Tardis is basically crashing towards the ground. There's no other option but to crash so you tried to crash in the least horrific way you could.
The thing is, you crash sideways, tipping you and the Doctor deep into the Tardis.
"Oh for fucksake—" You said as you landed against one of the couches in the library. "Oi! Language!" The doctor chided. He had the luck of landing with a big splash in the swimming pool that for some reason was in the library.
"Since when do you care about about language?" You asked him, helping him out of the pool.
"Since now evidently" He said and started looking around for ways to get out.
You handed him a grappling line.
"Care to do the honors?" You asked and he smiled, launching it as far as he could and when he felt it was stable he began to climb up.
When he finally made it to the Tardis doors you heard him talking to someone. You hadn't the faintest clue as to who.
"Love, make some room!" You called from below him and he climbed onto the Tardis, looking down.
"Woah, look at that" He said in awe as he looked at the Tardis. It was quite a view though you would have appreciated a hand as you climbed up to join him.
That's when you saw the little girl standing beside the Tardis in her nightie and bright bright red boots that matched her bright red hair. Well not really red. Human red, which was more of a copper.
"Hello there" You said, wiping the sweat from your brow.
"Are you okay?" She asked.
"Just had a fall, all the way down there right to the library. Hell of a climb back up" The Doctor told her.
"You're soaking wet" The little girl said.
"He landed in the swimming pool" You added.
She turned to look at the Doctor, "You said you were in the library".
"So was the swimming pool" He answered.
She looked a bit confused but quickly kept the questions coming.
"Are you a policeman?" She asked.
"Why? Did you call a policeman?" The Doctor asked, meanwhile you climbed down from the Tardis and onto the ground, inspecting the crash site.
"Did you come about the crack in my wall?" The little girl asked.
"What crack—" The Doctor started but he fell, clutching his chest as he groaned in pain.
You weren't worried. He was still coming off of his regeneration meaning he was practically invincible.
"Are you okay mister?" The little girl asked.
"I'm fine, it's okay, this is all perfectly normal" He said, some fleck of regeneration energy floating out of his mouth.
You turned back to the Doctor and the little girl, content with you assessments of the crash site.
"I'm sorry, we seem to have crashed into your shed" You said to the little girl and she looked between you and the Doctor.
"Who are you?" She asked and you smiled, leaning down to be at her eye level.
"My name is Y/N and he" You said, pointing at your lover who was currently watching the regeneration energy still filling his hands "-is The Doctor."
The Doctor got his bearings, or at least tried to, coming up beside you. "Does it scare you?" He asked.
"Does what scare me?" She asked.
"The crack in your wall, does it scare you?" He repeated.
"Yes" She answered, almost shyly.
This excited him. "Well then, no time to lose. Like he said I'm The Doctor, do everything I tell you, don't ask stupid questions and don't wander off" He said confidently and started walking.
"Love" You said and he turned his head back to face you, causing him to walk straight into the tree you wanted to warn him about.
The little girl walked over to him where he was just lying on the ground.
"You alright?" She asked.
"Early days" He said, "Steering's a bit off plus he distacted me" he said, pointing at you.
With a roll of your eyes you went over to help him up.
"You really should sit down and eat something love, you're running on fumes" You told him and shrugged.
"I'll be fine" He said and you sighed, turning to the little girl.
"Can you do me a favor and get him something to eat? Maybe then the two of you can have a look at that scary crack in your wall" You suggested and she nodded, you gave her The Doctor's hand and told her to be careful with him cause he's very iratible right now and he complained as the little girl walked with him into the house and you stayed outside with the Tardis.
You had a feeling this would be a regular thing with this new Doctor. You cleaning up after him.
You could already see so many differences between his old self and this new one.
Besides the obvious physical difference this new body was much more wild. He was already all over the place much more than your old Doctor. But he was also charming. You were sure you'd love him just as much once he figured himself out a bit more, after all he did the same for you.
All that time ago when you promised you would never leave him, when you told you loved him, when you stayed by his side even as the power of a sun was burning through his body. You stayed with him and regenerated and he helped you. He carefully picked you up and placed you back in the medbay of the ship you were on and when you woke up he helped you get accustomed to your new body and he kept loving you just like he did before. So you would do the same.
You checked the grappling line and when you were sure it would hold you went back into the Tardis.
nothing in the console room was on fire anymore which was good. You went one by one checking the systems and resetting what needed it. That is until the ringing started.
you hadn't actually gotten to checking the engines yet. The ringing was coming from the engines.
"No, no, no, no, no— Come on!" You cried as you tried to settle them.
"Just calm down a bit will you?" You tried to ask the Tardis but she wasn't having it.
"Y/N! What's going on in there?" The Doctor hollered as he ran out of the house.
"She's throwing a tantrum!" You yelled through the open Tardis doors.
"It's just a box, how can a box be throwing a tantrum?" The little girl said. You still didn't know her name.
"Not a box, it's a time machine" The Doctor said.
"What, a real one?" she asked, you popped your head out of the Tardis just enough to look at them.
"Doctor come on!" You said, popping back into the console room.
"Five minute hop into the future should do it" The Doctor said, climbing onto the Tardis.
"Can I come?" The girl asked.
"Not safe in here, five minutes, give me five minutes, I'll be right back" He said.
"People always say that" She said and the Doctor stopped, he climbed back down to the ground and kneeled in front of the little girl.
"Am I people?" He asked, "Do I even look like people? Trust me, I'm the Doctor" He said.
He climbed back onto the Tardis, gave the girl one last look and jumped in, "Geronimo!"
With him inside the ringing finally stopped.
"There you go, you just don't like it when Y/N drives" The Doctor cooed at the console.
You rolled your eyes.
"Doctor" You asked, "What did you tell that little girl?"
"I told her we'd be back in five minutes" He said, running around the console, hitting buttons and turning switches.
"Did you get her name?" You asked and he smiled.
"Yes! Amelia Pond! Brilliant name isn't it? Amelia Pond"

You know what? I'm gonna say it. As someone who is asexual and on the aromantic spectrum myself, I'm a bit tired of the Doctor Who fans who all say that Donna is the best companion of Ten's just because they were best friends and nothing more and that automatically makes her the best companion of RTD and for a lot of you, the best companion overall.
Listen, I LOVE Donna. Adore her. And I also think that her friendship with the Doctor is amazing. But it has always rubbed me the wrong way that the companions who have a romantic interest in the Doctor (and let me tell you, there is textual evidence for every one of them that the feelings were reciprocated in some way) are somehow considered lesser BECAUSE of that interest. That just because they fell for the Doctor means that their relationship with the Doctor is cheapened in some way.
I personally think that just as platonic relationships should not be considered lesser than romantic ones, the same goes in reverse. Amy, Clara, Martha, Rose, River, and Yaz's feelings may have some weak writing decisions attached to them, but so does Donna.
Personally, I love Donna's character arc/the tragedy of her ending, but I've always felt a little disappointed by the fact that her becoming the DoctorDonna in Journey's End was not predicated on her strong characterization/choices (Ala Planet of the Ood/Fires of Pompeii) but by "fate" pushing it to happen. It's honestly more Dalek Caan than Donna making all that happen.
This is NOT to say that I don't love Donna, but just to say that the fact that she had no romantic feelings for the Doctor doesn't automatically catapult her above the rest. Romantic feelings can lead to just as interesting, well-developed character arcs/complicated dynamics as platonic ones can, from the creator/created reciprocated question mark wanting but unable to choose each other over everything dynamic of 11amy to the fascinating destroying each other saving each other one taking all of the emotional toll but honestly craving that prophet-god relationship of 10martha to the shaping each other making each other kinder and braver reminding each other there is hope dooming and saving each other of 9rose to the full dooming each other but running straight at it full tilt because we are purposefully ignoring the turn back now signs of 10rose to the batshit insane codependent reflecting each other refracting each other who is Orpheus and who is Eurydice of 12clara to the there was always someone else in the room keeping us apart but you somehow became my whole world and I knew you from birth to death and we will never be anything more than a shut door of 13yaz to the you doomed me and saved me and you hate me but you might have loved me once and i will spend the rest of my life devoted to you dynamics of 10jack 11river and 12river.
Every relationship is interesting and personal preference might steer you in a certain way due the character arcs/ending preferences/etc., but elevating one over the other because the companion wasn't "foolish" enough to fall in love with the mad genderfluid alien in a box who ran away with you and stole you away to the stars doesn't sit well with me. Romance doesn't cheapen a relationship just as it doesn't automatically make it the ultimate relationship, either.
