Kara gets roped into the RenFaire scene one summer as a face painter because a) she's an art major, and b) she's an art major who needs money. Her friend Nia has worked concessions there since she was old enough to get her workers permit, and swears to Kara that its a great place to work if she doesn't mind the occasional heat wave.

Which, to Nia's credit, is true. Except what Nia forgets to mention is that the resident RenFaire fiddler will make Kara feel like she's living in a permanent heat wave.

The fiddler's name is Lena, and she's gorgeous. Long raven locks and skin like ivory, wearing frocks of green leaves and shimmering wings, she looks like something out of a fairytale.

There's an invisible threshold between the summerbounders and those who have made the Faire their home, marked only by how naturally they fit in their medieval, fantastical roles. Summerbounders, like Kara, throw themselves into it with all the good-hearted cheesey pomp they can muster. The others, well-- they simply are their roles.

Lena is of the latter group. She was raised in the Faire, after all, spending her summers flitting between booths while her mother sold charms to enchanted patrons. But even when her mother passed, Lena didn't want for love. The Faire is her family too.

For her part, Lena immediately takes a shine to Kara, quickly noting her kindness towards children while she paints whimsical designs on cheeks and foreheads. But when Kara seems to clam up and shut down any time Lena comes anywhere close, Lena learns to keep a relative distance. Kara isn't about to approach Lena herself, so they fall into a pattern of mutual admiration from afar.

Until Nia asks Kara how she likes Lena (bc Nia lowkey shipped them when she suggested the job to Kara), and is surprised to learn they have yet to have a single meaningful conversation.

All right. That's it.

Nia invites Kara to a sleepover at the faire grounds overnight, for those who camp there-- among which is Lena. Surely, with the glitter wiped away and the lack of wings Kara will be less blinded and more... personable.

Except that after getting some mead in her system, Kara is even more entranced by Lena. How could she not be, with a speck of overlooked glitter on Lena's neck, glinting merrily in the firelight, and her long dark hair let loose around her shoulders.

But now, mellowed by said mead, Kara can't bring herself to look away when Lena catches her staring. Their eyes lock, and Lena's surprise soon gives way to a blush, then a smile as warm as the fire between them.

Lena doesn't play her fiddle this night-- everyone is pleasantly tired, and content to lounge on their logs and stumps. But someone does pull out a lyre, and Kara does notice that Lena softly sings along to the tune most everyone seems to know.

When Nia and another of the folks seated next to Kara rises to fetch a refill of their tankards, Kara blinks to find a new figure filling their empty seats.

"Hi," Lena greets, her voice low in her throat. The sound is heady, buzzing deep in Kara's core.

"Hey," Kara returns. Thankfully, the drink has smoothed her tongue, eliminating the stammer that previously caught in her throat had Lena approached her at the face painting station.

"You've been avoiding me," she's told.

Kara grimaces. "Kinda... I'm sorry."

"Well, so long as it's not because I smell bad...."

Though of course now Kara breathes in, and her lungs fill with the scent of woodsmoke and pine, and something floral. The floral, she surmises, is Lena.

To be sure, Kara leans in and inhales once again, this time with her nose just brushing the side of Lena's neck. The floral is in fact Lena. Kara notes the jumping pulse point in before her eyes and the catch in Lena's breath.

"Nope," she pulls back languidly, letting a goofy grin spread across her features. "You don't stink."

They're still perilously close, and Kara watches how Lena's gaze jumps from her eyes to her lips and back again. How has she missed this, Kara marvels at herself. To have missed Lena's interest in her is... a travesty.

Lena's head is turned towards her like the rest of the group has fallen away, and perhaps they have-- Kara takes little note of them.

"You're very smooth for someone who's been scared to be within ten feet of me."

"What can I say?" Kara shrugs. "I know to be wary of the fair folk."

"Fair or faire?" Lena teases.

Kara smirks. "I'm sure both are equally dangerous."

"Then you're doomed, considering I already have your name."

Suddenly Kara's brain shortcircuits as Lena leans in, eyes slipping shut as their lips come near enough to brush as Lena speaks.

"Kara."

OHOHO rubs my hands together--you've activated my trap card >:3 (also thank you sm!! :D♥︎) SO-

short answer: their relationship is a complicated nightmare at best, and it changes a ton over time. they meet in weird circumstances, things stay weird for a long time, & they end up "together." what that means, i have no idea, bc i think they would die before they talked about it or said they were Actually Dating

long answer: they meet when twitch rescues a very nearly dead grace from the arctic. twitch thinks this poor guy looks very haunted, which is apparently interesting enough for them to reroute the entire ship so they have an extra couple months to hound him for secrets.

upon getting back to london, they want nothing more to do with eachother: twitch got all the secrets they could, grace wants to get far away from this weirdo, preferably as soon as possible, thanks

so they part ways, for a while. grace starts working with the constables (he thinks he can help people there. poor guy) they keep giving him the unwanted jobs: drag bodies back home, sort the paperwork, stand guard outside the cells because this new inmate is chatty and it's annoying everybody else and-oh, it's twitch. of course it is.

they get talking, since there's nothing else to do, and twitch is Very Persistent. they strike a deal: grace can use his connections to get twitch on the good side of the legal records, and in return, twitch will give him free zee trips when he needs it. twitch thinks this will be basically never, since grace has nothing going on, right? so they got the better end of this deal for sure-what do you mean he's on an unhinged revenge mission to murder a fucking master of the bazaar? oh, they have got to see this.

grace is too reluctant to zail himself, has no other contacts & doesn't know anything about the neath. twitch is his only real, consistent source, and they want to see & know everything about how it's going-- this is like the most interesting story in the world to them! so they're spending a lot of time together. a weird amount of time together, really, for two people who don't spend lots of time around any one person in particular.

and it's...kind of fun? sure, twitch is very unreliable, their weirdness is still offputting to grace, sometimes-- but less than it used to be. they're nicer than he gave them credit for, smarter, and their enthusiasm is infectious. and grace is very helpful, it turns out, and it's nice to have company in the captain's cabin, and making him smile instead of looking miserable all the time starts to feel kind of like an accomplishment, and- oh, no.

they both react to their feelings about as well as you would expect: ignore them! or in twitch's case, ask the ship's surgeon to surgically remove them (and get refused. cruel.) they both deny their feelings for a long time. it could never work anyway, right? they're far too different.

except, not really. grace later finishes nemesis, and after parting (somwhat bitterly) with twitch & a brief stint at the grand geode, he realises maybe the laws here fucking suck, actually--maybe he doesn't need to uphold them to help people. lucky for him, twitch has a hell of a rivalry with the admiralty & it's only a matter of time before they cross paths again. he deserts the admiralty in the midst of a naval battle, onto twitch's ship.

til i give either of them an ending, they stay together from that point--at least, as much as they want to. old habits die hard--twitch still likes zailing off to do weird shit, twitch is still a criminal, grace is very much not (more of a vigilante, i guess.) they still can't talk about what they are, they still clash sometimes. but they make it work! captain & (honorary) first mate.

(& twitch's crew breathe a sigh of relief. bc they've been waiting for their emotional brick wall of a captain to semi admit it for at least a year)

HI YES ABSOLUTELY

I love these two and I think it's criminal that they never interacted and never had a chance to become friends bc I really feel like they would get along SO well.

There's a connection that they have that no one else in the group does because none of them grew up in sports like the two of them did (except for Lucas, but I'm more focusing on the older kids in this who would be more their peers than the Party would be!)

I really just picture them being ultra-competitive, no one wants to let them pair up on game nights because they're SUCH sore losers but also great at strategy, they feed one another's competitive streaks and egg each other on.

Also them being able to just be little jocks together - they go on runs together in the early morning, work out together, they'll be sports nerds together and watch whatever game is on and without fail they'll be fans of opposing teams and rub it in one another's faces when their team beats the other person's - just them being able to delve into this interest that they both have that none of the others in the group do.

I also personally feel like some of Chrissy's home life is similar to Steve's. Absent parents who expect too much, who give too little and get mad when their low effort has a low return, who think their children are never good enough. They really bond over this, over being able to recognize that certain brand of loneliness and abandonment in one another, in the way it has them searching for love wherever they can find it even if it's not the kind of love they deserve.

Just!! Two really lonely kids who finally see themselves reflected back in another person in a way the rest of the group can't relate to. Who are passionate and a little catty and sweet beneath the surface, who are so loving and downright good and just need a good support system, who step in to be that support system in ways that others don't know how to do.

Just. Steve and Chrissy friendship!! It's so important!!!

So like. A really huge part of what Scar's plan entails in canon-- and yes, it's Scar doing this partially on purpose-- is the inherent kindness of the hermits. You bring a starving, dying man back into the fold, and you can absolutely bet that the VAST majority of hermits will at LEAST let him stay until he's healthier again. This is a deliberate move on Scar's part!!! The urgency of the situation (plus the familiarity) creates more of an incentive to let Grian in and then let him linger, which gives him a chance to grow his roots again and make up with the hermits. Scar wants him home again, permanently, and in this game its basically ALL about buying time.

So what happens when you take away that sense of "he's gonna die if we dont keep him here" urgency?? Well...

Well, in an au where Grian fessed up instantly abt the starving and making games when confronted, there's a lot more room to think about it. In some ways, hunger!Grian's canonical reaction to shut down and just let them furiously throw them out was a lot kinder and ultimately worked to his advantage-- nobody got any answers, so they started looking. People are more willing to talk to him if only to understand why. There's a clear element of "i was just doing this to survive and i feel fucking horrible about it" that is,,, pretty undeniable when you've got the person in question self-harming pretty severely about it. And yes, there's pity. Not always a bad thing, and in this case thats the element Scar is deliberately tugging on to make Grian's stay a bit more palatable until he can reintegrate himself

But when you have time to think about it, without that immediate evidence, without that sense of raw urgency sorta blanketing everything so people dont question as much-- what you get is a more measured, and ultimately more negative outlook. The hermits OF COURSE take the time to help Grian figure out how to feed without using people's emotions. They're kind like that. They do care. But theres now more time to think about this, more time to decide yeah, thats valid, sure, but he still used us and hurt a lot of us and also we didnt consent.

Essentially, what im getting at here is that in a hunger au variant where Grian fesses up immediately, the hermits do help him figure out a way to feed without relying on others... and then when thats all sorted out, a vote is called, and Grian is politely but firmly requested to leave. So he loses them anyway, and without the benefit of a mystery to help bring him back.

Thats not to say the vote wasnt awfully divided, there were plenty of people who were at the very least okay with him staying. But with more time and less distance to think things out, a lot of the folks who fall into the "wary but willing to hear him out" category in canon (i have a whole chart fiejfjdj) ended up moving to the "we dont want him here" side of things because they found themselves understandably uncomfortable with the situation and the harm caused by it to others. To their friends.

Basically, its enough of a majority vote to get Grian kicked anyway and without an opening to return. And in this au, i dont think he would return. The au as i have it outlined is that Grian ends up spending years alone on a singleplayer world, falling into his grief and into the rote cycle of surviving but not thriving, until Iskall (one of the people who wanted him to stay) meets him in a market hub and eagerly gets back in touch with him.

Its very much one of those aus that really SQUEEZES your heart, bc its about the loneliness, and the emptiness of losing your entire community, and knowing it is your fault. Its about what happens when you fully isolate because of guilt and forget what its like to be happy because you wont LET yourself be happy. And its about relearning what its like to be a person instead of personified misery. The recovery in that au is SO much harder, so much of a more difficult road (which is saying smth considering canon's is already super difficult), and takes a lot more time and effort on Grian's part. Its a good au, one im really sinking my teeth into and chattering about in dms, but my gods is it significantly worse in many ways to canon hunger au

Hello smooches, its been a while since i popped up here. Been busy with school since i missed like a whole semester bcs i was hospitalized 💀 now i have to catch up with everything.. (pls send help-) anyway, I hope u and the others are doing well 🙏💞

Also, i want to share a very messy Capitano brainrot or a very random thought that have been plaguing my mind for the past few weeks 💀 and its about him having separation anxiety (or fear of losing someone he loves), especially towards *cough* fragile!reader *cough*

I know it is VERY ooc of him, but to me just the thought of someone like him having that just tug a string in my heart 😔

Just think about it, that man must have been through a LOT before he became known as the strongest individual in teyvat and being feared by many people, even being called a monster bcs of how strong he is when he is on the battlefield. Even how bloody his hands are, there's still "someone" (cough reader cough) who really cares/loves him, accept whoever he is and makes him happy. But suddenly that person fell sick and their health keeps deteriorating everyday while he doesn't know what to do to make his sick lover better? (Sure, he can protect reader from any harm. But, can he protect them from getting unknown disease?) Don't mind me, i'll just lie down here and cry-

Also i have this scenario in my head, like the way he walked so fast as soon as he finally touches the front door of their shared home when he came back from expedition just to find reader. He NEEDS to see them with his own eyes, even though all of his subordinates and their house attendants already told him that reader is fine on the letter he recieved everytime he asks how's the condition of his sick lover.

The moment he sees reader, weakly trying to walk towards him to welcome him, he just basically grabbing onto them and hugged them and they can hear tiny quiet aborted breaths coming from under his.. Helmet(?), mumbling breathy words that sound jumbled together but due to their proximity they can vaguely make out a 'it's okay, they're here, they're still here.. and alive.. and not gone..' Reader, after hearing that and seeing him like this for the first time, it really made their heart squeeze painfully and hugged him tighter

Again i'm so sorry if this doesn't make any sense, i really need to get it out of my head ASAP but i also tried to make it as not messy as possible 😭😭 anyways, i really hope that u have an amazing day smooches! 🙏🛐💞

What use is he when he can’t cut through what’s ailing you with his sword? His hands are made for battle and killing but there is nothing he can kill that would make you better. 

Well now you’ve got me thinking about that too 😭 When he walks in he doesn’t even acknowledge his staff, just walks straight to your room to make sure you’re okay. I feel like the Fatui soldiers in his squad have grown to the point where they try to get everything done as soon as possible just so their captain can have even just a moment more of time to spend with you.

He would get so worried just seeing you out of bed, his heart rate would spike for a second and quickly support you and get you back to bed. But first he would just hold you tight, enough so that he can hear your heartbeat, feel your warmth and pulse, and know that you’re still truly here with him. He just needs to know you’re alive, he often finds his hands near your chest and wrist, to feel you breathe in and out. It’s really comforting to Capitano considering how he deals with death every day. After those few words he lets out, you know he didn’t mean for you to hear them, but now you have and you’ll do your best to reassure him. Just guide his big hand to your heart and let him feel the beat of your heart, how as long as he’s by your side you’ll swear to keep it beating for him :(

you knew xiao honored his work. he would bend over backwards for his job his no matter how gruesome it was on his body. long hours turned to days turned to weeks of him contstantly on his feet. there were times where he wouldnt return home until the early hours of morning, only coming to check on you then soon leaving again. you'd caught wind of how he was acting time ago, but knowing how stubborn his is, you wanted to save yourself the headeache of trying to get him to stay home and take a break. he had to give himself a break soon, but after a whole two weeks of him working non stop, you had enough.

"xiao you can take a week off of work." you crossed your arms, leaning against the front door as you glared at him. he sigh and rubbed the bridge of his nose. "yn move i don't have time for this." you stomped your foot lightly and blurted "no xiao! please just take the week off you need a break and i want to take you out somewhere." he turned himself away from you and crossed his arms, his eyebrows kneaded together, "no i can't." stubborn as always, luckily you knew how to get him to listen. "nope, you have no choice, if you don't take the week off im not making you almond tofu ever again." his eyes peeked over to yours, his arms fell down and a pout on his lips. xiao couldn't say no to that, he loved almond tofu and you were the only person who made it right "…fine."

after you convinved xiao to take the day off, you brought him straight to the spa. on your way there xiao tried to argue, he didn't need to go to a spa it's way too expensive, he said you didn't need to spend so much money on him he didn't need it. you didn't listen anyway. the hot tub, the perfect thing to help releive stress. you arrived to the bathhouse, it was a simple room with tan walls, warm fairy lights hung up and a decent sized tub in the middle. xiao had a white towel wrapped around his waist, his hands clenched into fists as he stood over the tub. "yn, are you sure? i dont think i want to get in the tub…" he muttered. you walked past him messing with your towel. "come on, we're already here. you said you've been having a bit of pain, it'll help you i promise." the green haired man pouted and pondered your words for a bit, contemplating if he really wanted to get in.

when he finally dipped his body in the hot water, it was as if he'd become weightless. he rolled his head back, resting it on the side of the tub. his eyes came droopy with his lips slightly parted and his shoulders hung low. he felt selfish enjoying the water enveloping him but he had to admit it felt so good. you were still dressed in your towel, admiring this side of xiao. a peaceful side. you soon joined him in the bath, the water massaged your skin as you rested your head against xiaos chest and he curled his arms around you, his head laying atop of yours.

"…i dont need this…" xiao mumbled lightly. "i don't deserve the way you treat me. you're too kind, buying me nice things all the time…taking me to a spa this expensive." he shook his head, "this feels amazing but i dont deserve it at all.." you scoffed like he had made an offensive joke. you moved you head to face him and peered into his brown sugar eyes. they had a sad tint to them, they truly believed wasnt meant to relax, to be peaceful, to be loved. you brought you hands to his cheek, lightly pecking the other. "i did this just for you. you work so hard every day and barely take breaks. you're so amazing and you care about everyone even if you swear you dont," you gave him another kiss, he had a little smile as his grip around your waist became tighter and his cheeks became flushed either because of your words or the hot steam. "you do deserve this," you massaged his muscles as you spoke. "and i love you so much."

though he tried hide it, xiao's smile became a full grin, his eyes a little brighter than before. he couldn't hide it anymore, the way you made him like he was the most special person in the world, the way you brought him up when he tore himself down. he almsot lost himself stressing so much over work. yet it was all worth it if he had you to care for him at the end of the day and to love him when he had never been moved before. he leaned down and pressed his soft lips against yours, kissing you ever so softly. "thank you so much yn…" xiao could stay in this tub forever washing away with you in his arms loving you so sweetly as you love him. he did deserve this, he deserved your love.

So I was listening to one of my werewolf audio books and I may actually have to drop it because it's actually repeatedly making me really angry, and it's kind of almost turning into a horror story in places? But also it just makes me think of dark yandere content tbh but also I am just kind of ranting about this story and spoiling a ton of it so idk don't read the whole post if you want to listen to the audiobook?

The story was The Defiant Mate and like, a lot of guys in these stories can be pretty toxic, but there was a combination of different stuff that was just giving me bad vibes, but it was one event in particular. And yeah this is a long post bc I kind of summarize the plot and events and stuff so, readmore time

So like, the plot is, Jay-la and Nathan are childhood friends and fwb and also both werewolves because of course, until he gets his fated mate assigned by the moon and it's another girl and there's this whole mate bond thing where it practically rewires your brain chemistry in ways that can be kind of creepy, like in Prince Reagan (which I know is a different story but they're on the same platform and many of these are basically the same story or all share the exact same concepts and terminology) there's a plot line of female werewolves being trafficked because if you mate them and create a bond by force you kind of have an exotic more willing slave. So his new mate is of course a spoiled bitch type who basically attacks Jay-la because she walked in on... JL gently holding his arm asking to speak with him for just a few minutes (before she leaves the pack because seeing him with another woman is too painful)

So in some of these stories the werewolf is a literal wolf spirit and like a separate person so when Nathan's new mate walks up and swings on her for no reason, JL's wolf Kora took control and slapped her back, and Nathan basically flips the fuck out ("oh bc of the mate bond not because he's a shitty person we promise") and banishes Jay-la, tells her to leave the pack and never come back, and of course she's secretly pregnant

So she runs away, starts a new life, has his triplets, and neither him nor even her own FAMILY contacts her until SIX YEARS LATER, by Nathan's own admission he's barely even thought about her until she appears on TV bc she's a high profile divorce attorney and, oh joy, he left his previous mate and he feels a new bond seeing her on TV, so Nathan decides, "I miss her, im gonna summon her back to the pack" and because he is the pack leader and alpha because of course he is, he basically sends her an official letter ORDERING her to return home, and when she ignores multiple letters, he sends another to HER JOB and threatens to have her "retrieved" which he does, has her kidnapped where the men wind up basically beating the shit out of her, and the kidnapping itself involves POISONING because she's a werewolf, and since they don't know about her kids she's just extremely freaked out the entire time bc they're separated and the FBI gets involved because the kidnapping was on camera and it's a huge mess

So, you already have vague mind control vibes going on with the mate bond which can get really kind of creepy, but then you have like the horror potentials of "the Wolfen society" having all these secret strings and rich organizations and legal teams and even their own goon squads and shit and how it's almost kind of like one big cult? That's one thing I keep thinking listening to these stories: the cultures of these packs are a lot like cults because of the way they're supposed to unquestionably worship a caste system. Like this story even says outright that being mated and marked by force is nothing new and you still feel the mate bond and it still can influence you, like it can literally force you to feel certain emotions and the taking away of agency is very creepy to me

But anyways. So. Jay-la has every right to be upset because now after kicking her out of her home and banishing her after one relatively small mistake after she was his friend and lover for years, Nathan has now had her kidnapped, and the few minutes they were in the same room together before she escaped he was being a rude angry dick and she was injured and he was basically too mad over her condition to speak to her, but also he was a little pissy baby and didn't like that she was too afraid to look at him and yells at her. And all the while by the way there are certain other packmembers some of whom she grew up with and like, they disagree with having her kidnapped but they also just kind of shrug it off by saying "you needed to come home" even though she was perfectly fine and happy and successful?

But then this whole, people being extremely dismissive of her feelings and manipulating her and literally trying to force her to feel things she doesn't want to manifests in just this one really upsetting incident. So Nathan had bren talking to Jackson who is JL's close friend and even had her number after she ran away when not even her own parents had tried to speak to her, and piece of shit Nathan suggests doing something with JL's mom to manipulate her into coming home. Literally a couple chapters later, while Jay-la is officially trying to join another pack and is a short time away from taking her kids for an interview and is going to stay if it goes well, suddenly she gets a call from her brother that her mom is seriously hurt and maybe even dying, but he doesn't sound convincing. Later on? Jackson is texting and calling and suddenly texts her a photo of her mom, INJURED AND BLOODY IN THE HOSPITAL, and she had such a massive fucking panic attack she collapses on the floor because she thinks her mom is so injured she's going to die before Jay-la can even say goodbye, and she's also projecting some sort of empathy powers and extremely upsetting her triplets

In swoops Jackson to "rescue" the literally so fucking devastated she's incapacitated Jay-la, literally taking advantage of her condition to pick her up and carry her off and even taking her kids. And she literally passes out from being so freaked out, and as if her being kidnapped back to the pack isn't horrible enough, it gets worse. So she wakes up, is separated from her kids "oh because your powers were affecting them and upsetting them blah blah blah", and she goes to see her mom, who turns out is in bad shape but will survive, and she smells something in her wounds

The story was that her mom had been almost fatally poisoned with wolfsbane when attacked by rogues, and it turns out to be Nathan's sister. She overheard his suggestion to mess with her mom and was the one to attack her

BUT IT GETS WORSE BECAUSE HER MOM WAS IN ON IT AND HER FATHER WAS THE ONE TO POISON HER. So not only was Jay-la manipulated into coming back BY BEING TOLD HER MOM WAS DYING, TRAUMATIZING HER, it was BY HER FUCKING MOM who BY the way SHE HASNT EVEN SPOKEN TO SINCE SHE LEFT. She wasn't even hiding by the way her family probably could have contacted her at literally any time like literally any time and they never bothered like the story explicitly says they hadn't seen or heard from each other since she left

So. Jay-la has just attacked Nathan's sister and is extremely upset and finds out her family lied to her, and obviously you could not have a more valid fucking reason to be emotional. Here's part two of why this entire scenario is a horror story: there's this creepy motherfucker named Steven who is a Gamma and he has this weird ability to use his aura to basically brainwash you into being calm and what happens is, for not even the first time, he basically comes up to her and talks all sweet and nice while she's being physically held down by the way and he basically hypnotizes her into being nearly unconscious

Oh and. On top of this :) her stupid fucking wolf who is supposed to be like a sister to her? Can take control over her body. So while Jay-la is trying to escape and find her kids and RUN AWAY? Oh, Nathan's wolf howls, and oh, Kora is so lonely, she wants to belong again, Nathan's wolf is her alpha and she wants his approval 🥺 and the stupid bitch howls back, reveals their location, gets them caught, and while in wolf form where JL can do nothing to stop it, and after realizing "oh they're our mates" Kora goes ahead and fucks Nathan's wolf and from this moment on it's "oh Jayla honey he isn't going to hurt us, he's our mate, trust him" as if she's supposed to completely forget about everything that's happened up until this point, and guess what, now stupid ass Jayla is all "well I can't separate Kora from her mate 🥺 and I do so ever respect and worship the power and sacred bond of a destined moon given mate" so she just. Forgives and forgets and wow I can't finish this story

But yeah now I've just been consumed by thoughts of a story of like, a human reader and a yandere werewolf and, obviously there are different ideas but, imagine getting dragged into this closed community and maybe you're beginning to entertain the idea of this new guy being your soul mate and being kind of fascinated by this new supernatural world you didnt even know existed but then you witness some stupid mind control cult "oh do whatever the alpha says" creepy bullshit and you immediately turn to the guy and say "sorry this isn't going to work out".

I just love defiant FL vs yandere ML stories ok 😩❤️ and also we've been talking bout rude obsessive possessive men round these parts recently and this is totally giving me those vibes with the whole "I am the Alpha, I command you, you must do as I say, it is your place, I have all this power, obey me, you are MINE" dealio

vesper + goro. i think there's respect between them and maybe the slightest hint of a possible friendship that didn't have enough time to get developed. they both needed some time to trust the other for obvious reasons lmao but they end up in a quite successful partnership. but nothing more than that. they're both grateful to the other for saving each other's life and if goro would ever show up to ask for vesper's help she would gladly aid him :]

vesper + jackie. hehe ohoh..i think jackie was family for vesper. i guess the fact mama welles was so welcoming helped too. vesper never had a normal family life and didn't have parents for that long as well so every time anyone treats her even ONCE as a daughter/part of the family she turns a 15 y/o kid all over again. they complete each other, vesper is way more serious and responsible (and maybe a bit cold) which helps especially on jobs, while jackie is the one that reminds her to take life a tiny bit less seriously and that they should have fun too. they're both stubborn and hot-headed tho so that leads to them finding trouble 70% of times dksjfkfd. jackie was a confidant and someone she could count on, probably the only one friend she had when they first met, and losing him was incredibly hard

fenix + delamain. the thought makes me die idk jfdhfkjsdfn. fenix is the type of guy that would go 'do we really trust an AI to drive us around? DO WE REALLY NEED THIS?'. he'd prefer to drive his own car than let him do that for him. the distrust gets even worse when he hears about all the other delamin AIs causing mayhem around the city, he's can't stop saying 'I TOLD YOU SO' every 5 minutes. fenix doesn't trust delamain at all but he thinks that he can be..'funny' in a uncanny way, he won't admit this tho

fenix + rogue. OH BOY. these two can't stay in the same room alone or they'll start throwing hands. the dislike is mutual, fenix hates her bc of vesper ofc, he won't say it but it's clear..he has no other reason to hate someone he just met and that is now dating his ex. pure coincidence right? rogue hates him in return bc he's a complete asshole towards her every. single. time. little insults, little sarcastic comments, fenix can't shut tf up when rogue is around. they nearly fought once, rogue gave him a black eye (and then vesper broke his nose too...) bc she simply was so tired of hearing him talk shit. it doesn't get better AT ALL when vesper gets back with fenix for..obvious reasons. these two would kill each other if they could lmao

daniel + judy. these two get so well together, more than what vesper and judy have. they were coworkers once, kind of, daniel worked with mateo at lizzie's bar for a while so he had various chances to meet judy and talk with her. they are quite similar, both care about their indipendence and they both can't keep their mouth shut when someone is bothering them/doing smth they don't approve. they're good friends and judy is a regular client of daniel and nader's tattoo shop!!

daniel + misty. it was almost unlikely that they could become friends and yet. it happened. they would hang out together while vesper would go out with jackie and he would get sooo bored to stay all alone at home. daniel's first reaction when talking with misty was "she weird. a lot" which didn't stop him from talking with her tho. daniel is the kind of person that is attracted to everything he finds 'weird' or unsual, it's his curiosity probably. he doesn't believe in all the aura and spirit things misty usually talks about but he lets her talk anyway, he likes to listen to her talk so when he needs to relax he goes to misty. daniel lets her read tarots to him or do some 'aura cleansing' stuff while he paints her nails or she does the same to him. daniel is like a little brother to misty and she truly needed the company after jackie died, plus they both have such a sweet heart and know so much kindness that they would offer to each other and i love that for them

with pisces there are these transcendent emotional attachments that i think especially in lewis' water dominant chart kind of bleed into his other placements, e.g. i think his pisces venus and mars are inseparable and kind of wrap around his capricorn sun. like, the love he has for a sport that's literally not kind to him, that he has to fight against every day. the way he is legitimately and truly fueled by emotional upheaval, whether that's adversity or adoration. people like to say lewis drives better when he's angry, torger was like they woke up the lion or whatever last year, bottas was like ad21 will only make him stronger next year. but like, think of lewis saying i will fight with everything i have for you this year after spending like a weekend being loved on by the nation of brazil at the beginning of the year. or like, his glow every single time he's surrounded by that love, interlagos 21 or silverstone 22, his performance when he's not being booed by a crowd. i remember him saying something like, "thanks to you i had the wind at my back today," in brazil last year. the emotional nature of his interactions and relationships with others (venus) that he absorbs and that fuels him to fight back and push through (mars).

pisces is hard to grab, how do you grab water in your hands without it slipping through your fingers? pisces is represented by two fish, and fish are slippery, they're hard to get a hold of. to think of pisces venus, think of lewis being like, "i have so much going on in my life, i'm always going from one place to another, and that's not always understood by a romantic partner." or, "nah, you first bruv," @ george when he said he just has to get married to be allowed to wear jewelry in the car. this connects to his cancer moon, to the loyalty and security he needs to feel comfortable to open up and be vulnerable. but once that trust exists, pisces venus just lets emotion flow. pisces is also like a confessor, taking in the most personal parts of the people around them. they bond with other people not necessarily by sharing a passion or an idea or a project like another sign might, but mostly by sharing like, deep emotional experience - which doesn't mean constant emotional vulnerability. there is emotional depth to these relationships, but again, that emotional depth isn't offered to everyone. extremely compassionate and receptive to other people's suffering too.

I just thought of something. So you know how most of the villains fail at making doing serious damage with oblivion? Well what about the other heroes? Because we already know that Xiaotian and Wukong can do serious evil with it so what about the others?

I think the thing we have to keep in mind is that NOBODY is ever able to Handle Oblivion well.

the Villains don't know what the fuck they're doing with it and don't really get to DO MUCH with it except for LBD and Macaque but since LBD's is just an instant win it's not super interesting and Macaque is so hyperfocused on getting what he wants it's more of a setup than a plot device

Which is why the two people whom have caused the most damage are heroes on corruption arc paths lmao, but the long and short of it is it's just too much power to give people. it's like the Death Note or the One Ring in that way, anyone that tries to use it will end up using it for evil even if it's only with the best of intentions because no one person should be allowed that sort of power at all.

(maybe long ago when it was first made and could only be carried by several heavily baritoned singers with the explicit instruction from the goddess that gave it to them that it's for taming monsters and getting them to leave peacefully, and was to be returned to her at the end of the life of the person whom she gave it to, it was less power corrupting since it required cooperation with at least a few people all agreeing to use it at once, but not anymore)

So Sandy i'd say would probably have the least 'corruption arc'y time of it, how he got it idk, but since Sandy himself is a demon it's unlikely that he'd find out p. easily that it's a mind control record, he just remembers playing it and his whole brain switching off and flooding him with endorphins.

Sandy wouldn't cause much harm to anyone bc by nature of not being particularly concious himself while figuring this thing out he kind of can't figure out just WHAT oblivion does, and that man would very clearly rather swallow his whole houseboat whole before he ever asked anyone in his life for help and in that regard it'd be much more of a 'drug use' metaphor i think

the problem there would probably be when he asks Huntsman if he wants to give it a try and accidentally drags someone else into an addiction that's literally so insidious that neither of them are aware it's addictive at all despite being actively going through withdrawls and needing a hit. it's fine, the desire to go brainless is just slowly consuming Sandy's life and he's dragging Huntsman down with him. It's fine it's all fine the second he hits play that worry will aaalll go away.

(this is another AU where I think Syntax would be a major player primarily due to his immunity since there wouldn't be anyone better to spearhead an intervention than someone the drug in question straight up wouldn't work on)

So right off the bat i'm gonna say Tang and Pigsy's would be kind of a combined one since Pigsy himself would have no interest in a wierd record he found in the marketplace with creepy unintelligeable writing on it other than 'Tang enrichment' and the whole thing would be more of a subtle creepy than overt horror.

Even if we assume Pigsy had no part in it and Tang found it like, buried deep in archives he'd be VERY confused as to what a record was doing there, brought it home to Pigsy like 'i found this??? in the archives??? it's covered in Cuneiform??? we still got that old record player?' and he doesn't see why a very clearly old synth record was sitting in the archives and turns to shout across the room for pigsy and hears a clatter of something hitting the ground. they both freak out for a time, a solid 'WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT??' 'I DON'T KNOW??'

after a lot of screaming and trying to figure out what the fuck that thing was (and why after the shock passed Pigsy realized he didn't hate the sensation) there's a question of 'well What IS this thing then?'

So Pigsy (maybe not as reluctantly as he should have been) agrees to be his guinea pig (puns nonwithstanding) for a bit as they figure out just WHAT this thing is and why it is. And for awhile it's just Tang's notes about altering perception and placing the person in question (perhaps specifically demons) in a state of easy suggestion, and Tang does want to crack the code on this thing, but it IS starting to kind of make him more uncomfortable as he did so. Though Pigsy keeps assuring him its fine, the fact that he seems more excited to keep experimenting with this thing than Tang is is starting to grow worrying...

easy solution then, he just needs another test subject because he REALLY didn't want to reach the conclusion the evidence was pointing toward with PIGSY as the person it's happening to.

maybe a whole bunch of test subjects if he can't get one person to go for it and keep coming back. a proper data pool.

the fact that people keep coming back just means that they want to find the answers too. and the fact that Pigsy's just kind of touchy in the 'casual embraces' department because he's not being the test subject anymore and Tang kind of needed to have his hands all over him guiding him about when he was under and he misses that contact isn't... anything to worry about.

because he definitely didn't use a mind control device on someone he's been pining for for years and accidentally got him addicted to it. no siree.

he just needs... to figure out how this thing works and just how far he can go with it and he'll fix it

Thinking about how the different spirals affect North but also how that changes over time, as things get better and the emotions mellow out into something more like weather or passing moods draped over the otherwise calm of Duviri

Anger, as i said already, is the worst. It is a constant fight not to get dragged down in it, not to let themself be carried away, bc they hate who they become when angry but it's also So tempting to just Give In. Bc it Does feel good, to be angry, to let it out in violent ways. But it also hurts immediately after, every single time. Anger always gives way to fear or sorrow sooner or later

Even after it has mellowed out, it makes them feel wrong. Irritable. Restless. They have control over it but they don't Like it regardless. The best they can channel it into is Motivation to Do Things but they don't like approaching things from a place of frustrated restlessness. But at least doing something productive about it lets them work it down without inflicting harm

Joy, ironically, makes them angry. They get really snappy about the forceful positivity to the point where no happiness during a joy spiral feels actually genuine. It's also…overwhelming. Flooding with sensory input they aren't always up for, and it drains their social battery too like no other spiral can. So they just wanna go hide in a cave for three hours and not look at anything if the spiral lasts too long

Eventually it does become genuine tho. Just influence making them a bit more likely to feel giddy, to express their joy outwardly more clearly than their usual quiet contentment. At its core it feels like when your eyes meet with someone else and suddenly you both burst out laughing. It can still get draining after a while, but a lot less easily

Envy sucks like all others but also it's in large part North talking to their own brain like it's an edgy 12-year-old in an online game. Yes our life sucks. Yes other ppl have it better. Yes i know. Can we pls get shit done now. But also they lock up any and all Envy Fuelled Thoughts they get real fuckin tight and refuse to deal with them bc they see them only slightly less rotten than how they are during Anger

It mellows out into slightly too strong motivation to Do Better. They learn to be analytical about it bc that's the only thing that seems to Work for making it feel Not Horrible. Asking, what exactly is it that i want here? And how do i get closer to it? Even if they don't act on it, plotting out that possible route helps. And if there is no such route, they just forcibly learn to let it the fuck go

Fear is familiar. Managable. North is the kinda person who can keep functioning through a panic attack bc Been There Done That. But being alone, having no one to put the fear aside for, no real reason to put on a brave face, it's not kind to them. Fear turns to loneliness and despair so easily. It convinces them that they're alone not only now but always. That those they love are no longer there, will no longer be there when they return home

(Also the thunderstorms it brings Suck)

When mellowed out, it's just an increase in North's baseline of anxiety. It makes them a bit more alert and a bit more careful. But being a bit less daring for some time doesn't affect them all that much

Sorrow is familiar too, almost tempting to remain in it forever. Comfort in pain and apathy. Unlike the others, it doesn't set in suddenly. It grows slow, insidious, until it feels like it had always been there, no point to fighting it. It drowns everything in fog. It's exhausting, to do anything, to stay, to convince themself to return home

It's still sorrow, even after mellowing, but it's not drowning anymore. It's melancholy. During these quiet waves of sorrow in Duviri is when North chooses to mourn their past and honour their dead

Okay okay okay so disclaimer that it's been a while since I last watched The Pacific, and I don't spend as much time in the fanworks for it as I do other stuff, so mea culpa if I'm fucking up or just repeating any widely accepted fanon

BUT

Maybe it's just because I really love all three of them and want them to be happy, but I feel like they'd really get on together, both as Sledgfu and Best Friend Sid, or as an ot3 dynamic.

And Stella this is partly your fault bc you reminded me about Sid/Sledge and. I have lots of thoughts and feelings about the potential for that. Mostly because it's friends to lovers and that really is absolute catnip for me, but also the potential of it always being there but never being fully realised? Their positions as two wealthy young white men in the American South during this era preventing them from venturing into romantic territory but them keeping that strong, loyal, friendship nevertheless? They're always going to love each other, the know that, no matter how that's expressed. That's not going away for either of them.

Now, you might then expect there to be an issue with jealousy once Snafu is introduced, and you'd probably be right, at least at first. From both of them! Sid grew up with Eugene, has had all those experiences, knows him inside and out, and Snafu would probably be wary of that, of that closeness. But Snafu knows the ins and outs of the new Sledge, the one who's come home from the war different than how he left. Sid isn't as in the dark as the other people around them on that front, but he still wasn't there for the traumatic, formative, experiences that have shaped this returning Eugene like Snafu was.

There's also the more obvious cultural hangups. Snafu would probably be pretty disdainful and distrusting at first of this rich white boy. Yes, that also describes Sledge, but he's always going to be Snaf's exception to stuff like that. They've seen too much, been through too much together for it to bother him the way it does with other people.

There are two things that I think would break down these potential issues for the Sid/Snafu friendship. The first is that they both love Eugene. Eugene also loves them both, in whatever way that may be. And once they can recognise that in each other, and the importance of each other in Sledge's life, that's... kind of like half of whatever battle might have happened. At the very least they're now willing to tolerate each other. Or bond over shared trauma (both were on Guadalcanal when Sledge wasn't) and their concern for Sledge.

The second is that Sid and Snafu, once they really got to know each other, would probably just get on? On top of that shared military experience, Sid being Sledge's friend means they probably have that same sharp sense of humour under that Southern charm, which Snafu would appreciate and find easy to bounce off of. There's also the fact that Snafu doesn't tend to be needlessly cruel. Most of his anger or mockery is reactionary, almost defensive. It's unlikely he'd spite Sid or get nasty with him for no good reason, and any additional abrasiveness Sid can probably roll with. Basically it tracks that if Sledge and Sid are friends, and Sledge and Snafu are friends, then Snafu and Sid are probably going to find enough parts of each other to get on with.

Tldr; Sid and Snafu should be buddies post-war because, like Sledge, Sid's personality and sense of humour would likely endear him to Snaf, and Snafu's nowhere near enough of an asshole to dissuade someone who grew up with and remains friends with Eugene Sledge.

i think with how wwx handles any animal or creature, zyx would take over the bulk of training and battling to get them places safely. assign a pkmn to each person as a babysitting thing. i think in terms of pragmatism, starly are a good bet since they evolve at a decent level, strong and aggressive, can carry the humans. also zyx has a soft spot for staraptor.

... definitely getting a drifloon in valley windworks . if not as another flying-type to yoink them out of danger (tie one of the little arms onto wwx's hair), zyx has big love for drifloon

ok the thing is, no matter what, bc zyx has more knowledge of the pkmn world and has Opinions, they will go full-control freak on the actual team comp. whether or not those pkmn will come with them is another question.

- lwj stubbornly bonding with the buneary comes in handy when zyx is trying to catch a sneasel, and the tricky guy wipes everyone and is too fast until the now-lopunny punts the sneasel into the ground

every pkmn is caught for travel and pragmatic purposes. the ultimate goal is to survive going up mt. coronet

it doesn't change much for jzx + mm. what makes zyx the way they are also means that sometimes they make boring and unvaried decisions. for the sake of the survival of a group, zyx will not be giving in to letting everyone roam free. if that's the expectation of what this post-dbd crossover is, then it must be let go.

maybe the change to the lineup will include a shinx -> luxray, w/o wwx's crippling fear. jzx would like to battle but he's also the type to hate to suck. so the very visible learning curve would put him off and he'd let zyx take care of it. mm would try to learn enough to stay aware and safe.

and part of being a mature, actualized adult is understanding that people come and go from your life and that's ok. it also harkens to the more buddhist-influenced upbringing of the shuangfeng cultivators, on attachment. well, the taoists themselves don't think on it as much as the buddhists do, but it's still a thing that's an undercurrent in cultivator culture.
