Watching the Folklore long pond studio sessions.
I still think this is one of her best albums, if not the best. I just think anything where Taylor just keeps it simple and intimate and acoustic and personal in such a way where the songs have an influence on her but aren’t specifically about her… that’s her best material. Because she’s just such a good storyteller. And good storytellers don’t just tell stories about themselves.
When I listen to this album it reminds me that everybody is connected - because we’re all influenced by each other even if we don’t know each other. And that’s what Folklore is. It’s an album about people but in a Universal way - not your own back garden way. The production is so small but the stories are large. And all the distractions are taken away so you can focus on the bigger picture - which is EVERYONE. And everyone being connected in ways they don’t realize.
I’m so glad Taylor hasn’t given up on this side of her music with her new eras even though she’s more of a pop artist because it proves how good she really is.
And she’s still working with Dessner and Antonoff, which bring out and cultivate the best in her music. Because she’s so much more than just a pop girl. Not that I have anything against pop girls. I don’t. I like listening to that music too. But it’s not THEIR music.
You can’t say that with Taylor.
Because she won’t have it any other way.
And I highly respect that as an artist myself.
I hope one day we get another Folklore or Evermore because that side of her music is really something.

No one likes a mad woman
Oh. This is female rage. This is a song about female rage.
The most rage-provoking element of being a female is the gaslighting that happens when, for centuries, we've been expected to absorb male behavior, silent absorption of whatever any guy decides to do.
Oftentimes when we, in our enlightened and emboldened state, now, respond to bad male behavior, or somebody doing something that was out of line, and we respond, that response is treated like the offence itself.
There has been situations, recently, with somebody who has been very guilty of this in my life, who has tried to make me feel like I am the offender, by having any kind of defense to his defenses.
I have no right to respond or I'm crazy. I have no right to respond or I'm angry. I have no right to respond or I'm out of line.
How do I say why this feels so bad?
Without offending the entire world.
Women like hunting witches too. Doing your dirtiest work for you. No one likes a mad woman.
