#the thing with Lusamine and her husband

Note
I'd rather not have a "present day" cameo in PLZA tbh. Be it Emmet or any other character for that matter. This time I only want actual ancestors/descendants of the characters. I don't want people being lost across time and space anymore. At least they gave Anabel in SuMo somewhat of a resolution. (though it appears her displacement is of a different origin than Ingos [and no one "actually" me because if Ingo was a Faller Hisui would also be crawling with UBs (though it would be interesting to save Hisui not only from Frenzied Pokemon but also some UBs wreaking havoc thanks to the friendly neighbourly amnesiac])
Though I totally understand the craving for some updates or a solution... The way I want it to be done IF they do it is for something on the mainland of Unova (not BB Academy) and have the twins together and happy. Maybe briefly mention Ingo's little adventure across time and space but that's it. Nothing more nothing less... Because personally I wouldn't be able to take another small bite and wait forever for the thing to be resolved IF they EVER resolve it in the first place.
That being said I still think the possibilities fans come up with can be pretty entertaining regardless. Just don't want it to happen in canon... Canon could be disappointing in the games... Like Lusamine went crazy after her husband was lost across time and space but when finally meeting him in the game she just lets him walk off like: "he seems happier now". I don't want to see a similar resolution where Emmet and Ingo finally meet but decide to part ways since the other "feels happier now" NO, they DON'T it's plain as day how miserable Ingo is. He still makes the best out of his situation due to his rather outgoing and friendly personality but he is only 50% of what he used to be!
sorry about that rant needed to get that off my chest
You know I think this is why I tagged my last post about this topic saying I’d still rather not see Emmet at all in the games — it seems like it’s pretty clearly expressing this is a different time period (past or future? Idk, I see people making arguments for both but I’m not really hoping for one over the other either way), so for Emmet to appear in it, there would probably have to be more time-space displacement. And yeah, I wouldn’t want that either :(
I couldn’t place why I had initially felt pretty conflicted in the last post but yeah, this was why, I had forgotten the reason until you mentioned this haha.
I want what you want — to see them back together, but for there to be some indication that it is post-PLA, whether through words or character designs.
And I’d be more than happy to just get that resolution; if how things got to that point isn’t explained, fans can fill it in however they like. I’ve already liked seeing all the theories and fics and headcanons of Ingo making it back to Emmet and I’d be happy to see more. People can get so creative!!!!
But above this I’m hoping for nothing cause I doubt we’d get this in PLZA ^^;

i imagine someone has mentioned this to you by now, but there is at least one instance of a faller returning to their original dimension (mohn, lusamine's missing husband in sun and moon), so peepaw does have a chance to go back home. mohn DOES still have pretty severe amnesia though, so jury's still out on whether or not fallers are capable of getting their memories back
THERES A CHANCE A SLIVER OF A CHANCE

been re-reading the whole series once again and i noticed in the comic where gene is talking to lusamine does... does she ever figure out her husband has been living on the Bean Minigame Island this whole time? does GENE know that??? we never get a resolution to this plot point in-game! (i know it's pretty inconsequential to the plot rn but it's just fun to think about)
OH MY GOD I NEVER POSTED THAT HERE, ONLY ON TWITTER. LIKE FOREVER AGO.
no, gene never told lusamine about mohn -- ingo is the first faller he's ever told their backstory!! 😳
BUT tbf there's that one cutscene at the end of the game where Mohn shows up at the aether foundation and lusamine + gladion decide to let him go without telling him he's their family, so it takes the dilemma out of gene's hands a bit FKJSDJKF
(text + images from the post so people don't have to go to twitter; post is from november 18 2020):
"okay so like... I legitimately don’t know whether my oc should tell lusamine that mohn’s just... chilling on an island or let her find out the same way as the USUMO postgame scene. It’s one thing to have no control over it in the game, but in my own drawings I have a choice...
seriously is it even right to have generic /tell/ mohn "hey I have information about your past. would you like to know it or live in ignorant bliss? is this why the player character in gen 7 doesn’t have the option to tell her either skjdhfskdjhf"

When even the one who is part of a genocidal organization is a bit put off by your behavior lmao (Always happy to see best girl Malva getting some spotlight😁)
Interesting to note they're all the ones motivated by love, with Oleana, Malva, and Ariana being implied to have a thing for their bosses, and Lusamine freezing the Pokemon she "loved"/her fall to villainy being the result of losing her husband.

Twin Stars Far Apart Commentary
Tumblr media
Due to image limit this is mostly text
To summarise, this event is good, but felt too short and didn't focus enough on the twins, which is sad since they're supposedly the main stars of this event, it felt like Archie's story instead (i like it but i gotta be fair) the problem also got resolved too quickly, making the story fall a bit flat.
I'd prefer if they let us stew in the conflict a bit. Maybe make them explore other options before turning to jirachi to make the situation more dire. After all, twins being separated into different worlds should hold as much gravitas as Lusamine losing her husband or submas being separated (the freaking. Similarity to submas is so obvious, but liza and tate had it much easier 🥲). Maybe also explore Tate and Liza's personalities, let them do/speak and think more or have them learn things throughout the story, or make them more distressed as time goes on, they would be more compelling. After all, they are the characters dena is selling 😅
Also kinda sad that Nanu did not comment on the girls coming back? He should've been welcoming anabel and liza, iirc he lost a coworker once, i feel he should have a stronger reaction towards anabel being spirited away and making it back home.
But as i said, I am biased and this event is very catered to me so here are some highlights of things i like (warning: mostly archie)
Let's start from beginning:
Archie has shown time and again he's gentle with kids so fatherly 🥰 , he asked the twins to keep jirachi a secret.. he explained to them so they understand its importance, he respects their intelligence.
I feel his message got through easily because they're kids, they don't have lofty ambitions like some adults (imagine if gio/others found out about jirachi). As a villain himself he knew what some people would do to achieve their selfish goals. Yet he still has hope and appreciates truly kind-hearted people.
After that Nanu and Anabel appeared and explained they have to guard the twins. Apparently the area becomes more dangerous because ultra wormholes keep appearing recently? I wonder if this is just something that happened for this event or there's something that caused this 🤔 my brain really suspects there's a connection with how Adaman and Irida got sent to Pasio through space time rift... But that and ultra wormhole are different things. Side note I'm glad they explained why Looker isn't available, it's not necessary (imo) but it gives more context about the status of the interpol.
After that, of course the worst thing happened. Liza and Anabel are sucked into the wormhole, leaving their pkmns behind. I would've liked if they showed more signs of distress rather than just standing there 😅 Archie found out, and again i like how he used his knowledge as a villain to think of why the girls could've gone missing. It's also so sweet to see him reassure Tate, and promising to help him 🥹🫶 I think Archie could've been offering help earlier before Nanu suggested the ask for Lusamine's help, it could help integrate him more into the story imo.
After that Nanu correctly guessed they might have been sucked into a wormhole, and they asked Lusamine for help. Sure enough, she confirmed it. Her description about them going missing so suddenly, and without their pokemon too, really reminds me of Ingo 😭 I feel this also pains Lusamine to tell them, because she lost her husband to the wormhole too before...
Luckily for Liza and Tate, they were transported into Pasio, still the same place although a different one unlike some poor sod who got yeeted hundreds of years back miles away from his home Apparently in this world there are no people in Pasio, only ultra beasts. This matter is not elaborated because they were attacked by some UB, but saved by a kind Celesteela. I can't help but wonder more about this universe, where are the people? Did they fail to contain UB outbreak? What happened to the Lear of this world?
Anabel makes a great observation that the UBs are the same as them, they're taken away from their homes. I love this moment of sympathy.
And then we turn back to Archie and Tate. Archie helpfully explained how to awaken Jirachi (Tate needs to sing and make a wish). Despite wanting to protect Jirachi he let Tate take his chance because he genuinely cares!
Tumblr media
Just. Look at this scene, Archie is so supportive of Tate I can't y'all 😭😭💖💖🫶🫶 the way archie looks at tate so gently 🥺🥺 and how he's so excited when jirachi wakes up, and nudges Tate to make a wish!! he's so sweet, he's like a dad to Tate, I love him so much 😭💖
Ok and so Tate sang and Jirachi woke up! And he made his wish. And then they get reunited. Now this part is a bit funny because Jirachi apparently didn't do anything?? 🤣 Because earlier Anabel remarked that the UBs must have come from somewhere, ie a wormhole, and Liza heard Tate singing, so the wormhole must've existed before Jirachi even woke up. So convenient that it's located nearby 😂 afterwards it decided to make Tate its partner, solely because of his pure heart i guess? He managed to awaken it after all
Anyway, the twins are reunited!! And they got new friends ^^
Tumblr media
I was so surprised when i saw this scene I didn't think they'd bring Matt too, I'm so glad they did 🥹💖💖 festival n and steven also appeared! It's a lively scene!
This is such a good shot Archie is so happy for the kids 🥹
Tumblr media
THE REAL SHOCKER THOUGH IS THIS SCNEE
Tumblr media
I was not expecting Shelly to appear, much less having interaction with Archie, at this point I'm pretty sure the writers read my mind because i love Archie and Shelly so much!! 😭😭💖💖 I've always loved their relationship, they're childhood friends united by the same goal, they understand each other so well 😭😭
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The way they know what each other is thinking 😭😭 that's the proof of their bond!! After all this time they're still best friends, they know what each other is thinking 😭😭💖💖 It's so sweet and awe inspiring to me!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the highlight of the event for me, Archie really has come a long way from his villainy, he acknowledged the importance of people and pokemon, and wants to see the future generation live happily... it reminds me of this line from Alpa Sapphire's Delta episode:
Tumblr media
I can't help but notice that this event is like a really condensed parallels to AS Archie's experience (i treat game archie and pokemas archie as different people), both initially motivated by meeting Jirachi, and then him having doubts on humanity, but things happened that led to a kid changing his mind. The difference is Pokemas Archie has the luck to see Jirachi again (although different than his friend) meet truly kind-hearted people (Tate), resulting in his change of heart, while in ORAS he never met Jirachi again, it was just a memory, and his change of heart happened because he made mistakes (which are. Much bigger than what Pokemas Archie has done).
From a meta perspective, I love that Archie's obscure/forgotten Jirachi lore from 2014 is picked up in Pokemas, crafting a story that led to Pokemas archie turning over a new leaf, similar to his game counterpart. Considering neither AS nor Pokemas Archie could ever meet their jirachi again (because it likely went to sleep for another 900ish years), Pokemas is logically the only place where this little story can be touched again, and I'm SO happy for it. Jirachi is the motivation for Archie in the beginning, and it continues being that in this event, but with new, deeper understanding and optimism, with hopes for the future of humans alongside pokemon 💖✨
Im sorry for writing this long Like oh my God you guys i love Archie so much!!!! 😭😭😭💖💖💖💖 I love this event so much !!! I'm so happy!!

Toxic propaganda: Lusamine (Pokemon)
Tumblr media
She treated her two children like dolls and controlled every aspect of their lives. She was unloving, and the second her kids don’t like what she’s doing she’s ready to kill them. She disowns them, and calls them selfish and ungrateful.
Lusamine tries to control her children and mold them to be what she wants them to be. She has an obsession with rare creatures called Ultra Beasts, researching them endlessly and wanting to even merge with them. She tries to make herself and her children Gladion and Lillie to embody the traits of the Ultra Beasts, including their appearances.
Lillie ends up running away and taking her friend Nebby, a Pokemon being experimented on by Lusamine and her organization the Aether Foundation. Lillie gets put under the protection of Professor Kukui and his wife Professor Burnet, taken into their home. She helps with Pokemon research and slowly learns how to overcome her trauma about facing Pokemon and being controlled by her mother with the help of her friends. When Lillie changes her outfit, she feels relieved because her mother never allowed her to dress differently.
Gladion also runs away from Lusamine and the Aether Foundation. He joins Team Skull, a gang of misfits that do petty crimes around Alola. He's very protective of his younger sister Lillie. He uses his own Ultra Beast against his mother as she slowly turns more crazed in her quest.
Actual Quote: "Calling me mother? I don't have any children! Certainly not any wretched children who would run off and reject my love!" Ma'am you have TWO of them
Was an asshole to both her kids. Obsessed with hunting otherdimensional pokemon instead of caring for them. Forced her daughter to dress like the fucked up space jellyfish she was obsessed with.
Both her kids ran away at 10 years old because she liked aliens too much
Loses her husband in a wormhole, then goes COMPLETELY insane trying to keep everything else exactly as she wants it to be. She gets so obsessed with extradimentional beings that she explicitly styles herself and her (teenage) children after them. Her idea of "Pokémon Conservation" is VERY different than what most sane people would think of.
She becomes so obsessed with Ultra Beasts that she (presumably) drives Gladion away and becomes incredibly controlling of Lillie, even to the point of dressing her like a Nihilego.
"Trust me—children would all be much happier if they'd only listen to the adults around them." is what first hints at her controlling nature.
As the game reaches its climax, we also see Lusamine being emotionally and verbally abusive towards Lillie, from "Calling me mother? I don't have any children! Certainly not any wretched children who would run off and reject my love!" and "Back when you were small, you would listen to everything I said, without question. For a time, even you were adorable to me! … But you changed. You've become ugly." The later also expands on her being controlling for quite a while. We can assume similar things were said to Gladion before he ran away.
She clearly blames Lillie and Gladion for being "bad children" rather than take any responsibility for her actions. "The daughter who stole my Cosmog from me and the son who took my Type: Null! All I ever did was give you two all the love I had, and all you did was betray me! You have no right to ask for my attention now!" She seems to think she's been nothing but good to them, but this is disproven by Lillie telling her "You always do that… It's just like it was back at Aether Paradise… Only thinking of yourself and what you want…I am the one who is sick of you, Mother! Children… Children are not just THINGS that belong to their parents! Pokémon are not just THINGS that a Trainer can do whatever they want to! I am alive! Cosmog is alive! We are not things for you to collect! We're not made for you to just discard when you get bored with us! … That is terrible, Mother! You are terrible!"
Only when the story is retconned in USUM does she ever apologize for what she had done and try to change.
Lusamine's husband went missing and she proceeded to try and make her children "perfect" by making them as washed and willing to take orders as possible. This eventually led both of them to steal some of the pokemon she was trying to use to become alien satan and led her son to joining an actual street gang.
She also dressed up her daughter to look like the alien she eventually summoned and let metroid all over her.
Neglects her children in favour of unleashing Ultra Beasts that are basically bound to wreak havoc in the world; forces her daughter to look as much like a Nihilego as possible and berates her for becoming ugly when she decides to take control of her own appearance; guilt-trips her kids for "leaving her" when she controlled and berated and abused them until they ran away, telling them that all she did was love them. Just not a very good parent, really. She's careless towards Nebby, a Cosmog, too, risking its death to forward her plans despite her daughter's pleading not to.
lady is actually Fucking Crazy. she runs a corporation. she neglects her kids. she's got animal abuse going on. she potentially STOLE her own son's pokemon. I could go on
emotionally abusive. horribly controlling. may or may not be forgiven depending on which game you play. gave her kids ptsd. proclaims herself mother of pokemon under her care then abuses them also, all while being objectively very attractive. 10/10 no notes

Each of the Pokémon villains learn they have six months to live. How do they react?
Giovanni: the news that he’s dying puts into focus where he’s succeeded and failed in life. On one hand, he’s made Team Rocket much more powerful since he inherited it from his mother, having control of a gym among other things. On the other, he’ll most likely never have a positive relationship with Silver now, so he won’t be able to keep Team Rocket’s leadership in the family much longer. He always thought he’d have time once Silver was older and wiser. Ultimately, he wraps up whatever projects he currently has on the go, passes his position on to his wife, and tries to enjoy his wealth while he still can.
Silver: Silver is a tough kid and has had to be very independent, but at the end of the day, he’s 16, and this is going to hit him hard. He’d look for support wherever he could find it, most likely with his relatives.
Maxie: angry and terrified, especially at first, but makes pretty levelheaded decisions about it. Passes on his organization to a trusted underling and retires to spend time with his loved ones, get his affairs in order, and check things off his bucket-list.
Archie: welp, he has nothing to lose now, time to carpe some diems. Commits some dangerous acts eco-terrorism because he can, calls up Maxie to tell him exactly how he feels about him (whether that be love, hate, an offer to fight in a Denny’s parking lot, or all three), generally tries to fit as much life into his remaining time as possible before his health declines. He tells no one until late in the game so that his last time on earth won’t be full of pity for him.
Cyrus: was looking up “extend lifespan using legendary Pokémon” before he left the doctor’s office. Tells his team, but only in the context of “and that’s why we have to chain up Xerneas (or whatever he thinks will work) to make me immortal, it’s an annoying setback, I know.” Once that fails, he would struggle immensely to accept his death, both because he has lived a pretty unhappy, meaningless life and because it means that he will never see his goals come to fruition. Nonetheless, he prepares Saturn to take his place. His commanders make sure he doesn’t have to go through it all alone.
N: Utterly devastated. He’s so young... he’s experienced so little... there are so many things he wanted to do and see. Finds someone he truly trusts to help liberate Pokémon and prepares them to take his role, then takes Anthea, Concordia and his Pokémon and goes off to see what he can of the world while he still can. If he has to fight Ghetsis to do so, then so be it. His impending death would bring up all kinds of feelings of bitterness in him that he was denied so much and that so much of his short life was in service of Ghetsis’ lies. Nonetheless, he’d face death with a great amount of serenity.
Ghetsis: does not take it well at all. He’ll never take over Unova now and doesn’t care what happens after he dies, so he goes completely mask-off and abuses all the power he currently has to the greatest extent his heart desires, possibly causing Team Plasma to fracture or himself to go to jail in the process. Woe be upon any that are nearby when he chooses to lash out. Stops mentoring N or spending any time with him at all during this period.
Lysandre: like Cyrus, he looks into extending his lifespan by supernatural means, but he gives up on it faster. Makes sure that his team will be able to complete his plan without him, but not until after he’s dead. Why would he want to deal with the inconvenience of society being restructured if he won’t live to see it restabilize? Let everyone else deal with that while he enjoys the world as-is.
Lusamine: throws herself into her work as hard as possible to try and bring back her husband before she dies, probably to the point of making her health decline even faster. After she can no longer work, nihilego abandons her because she isn’t useful anymore, but the poison is still affecting her mind. Becomes even angrier and more demanding as her health declines, demanding that someone, anyone on her team find a way to prevent this.
Guzma: doesn’t tell anyone at first, but Plumeria realizes that he’s acting different pretty quickly. Makes sure that his beloved team, especially the younger members, will be doing well after he’s gone and that they will look after his Pokémon. They make sure to show Guzma the time of his life in exchange. He’s upset about dying young, but at least he’s made this wonderful organization where disillusioned people have found their place, and he’ll go out surrounded by friends. That makes him feel better about the whole thing.
Piers: withdraws and goes into a depression after hearing that he’s going to die. Teaches Marnie all he can about being a gym leader and generally spends time with her, puts a little work into some album he’ll never finish now, and puts on a good concert or two, but also spends a lot of time in bed, feeling guilty that he’s not making better use of his time.
Rose: handles it very well, all things considered. Steps down as chairman, gets his affairs in order, makes sure that Bede will be looked after, and enjoys all that Galar has to offer. Unleashes Eternatus towards the end as a very unwelcome parting gift.

I feel like the obvious solution to the Ogerpon problem is shared custody. Kieran can come back to our academy with us and all three of us can hang out and be friends without pressure from his village and family (however intentional or unintentional that pressure may be, you can’t say it did anything good for him).
I feel like he’d fit well with the friend group of Arven, Penny, Nemona, and the protagonist, anyways. Look me in the eyes and tell me Nemona wouldn’t love helping him get stronger.
Petition to adopt Kieran into the Paldean Friend Group. I think he would absolutely get along well with the other 3 characters. Nemona can help him get stronger while also doing some good for his self-confidence, Penny's anti-social herself and would be able to sympathize with his social struggles (also, she's not exactly known for using strong Pokemon, but doesn't let that get her down), and Arven has strained family bonds (ouch) and has done life-threatening things for the sake of a Pokemon (as someone who lost their childhood dog, the scenes with Mabostiff made me tear up).
I think the change from "friendly rival who is chill with everything" to a character who is a "friendly rival turned into your arch-nemesis" is actually a nice change! As much as I love Hau, Hop, and Nemona, the idea of a rival who goes from being a close friend to actually starting to dread being around us is so... interesting! I mean, you could say Bede was starting to despise running into us, but he was never really a friendly rival to begin with. Anyway, while I love the idea here, why did they have to do it to my boy? Actually, I'm surprised that more characters DON'T say anything at all about us getting Legendary or Mythical Pokemon. They're just like "Oh, you caught (Legendary/Mythical Pokemon)? That's cool. I had pancakes this morning" like they're as common as a Caterpie.
And I am 100% with you on the intentional vs unintentional thing. A person's intentions don't dictate the impact of their consequences. Even if Kieran's family meant well, that doesn't magically erase any potential harm that could've been done. That's like saying Lusamine, whose original intention was to find a way to find her husband again (or something like that), is magically repented from the harm she put Gladion and Lillie through just because she had good intentions. Or, for example, you could say Team Magma and Team Aqua have good intentions when they wake up Groudon or Kyogre, but they're seen as evil groups for a reason: because they do harm. Lysandre is a perfect example of this- or better yet, AZ is a perfect example of this! You could argue that AZ had good intentions with the Weapon by ending the great war and reviving his Pokemon that was killed because of it, but does that change the fact that he killed a bunch of people and Pokemon for it? No, it doesn't.
That's like saying a parent who gives you minimal attention isn't guilty of neglect or something because their intention was to prepare you for the real world. There's literally an old saying that goes something like, "The road to Hell is paved with good intentions". If you hurt someone, whether it be physically. mentally, or emotionally, your intentions don't really mean anything. Can it make your actions more understandable? Perhaps, but that doesn't change how your actions/intentions impacted other people. Even if they're unintentional, that behavior still affects someone, like how the pressure from the village and Kieran's family would still impact him in a negative way, even if they didn't mean to.
Sorry for the rant, that went a bit deeper than I meant to, I just got too into the writing-

I got another one for you!! Rank the main villains/misguided antagonists of Pokémon, worst to best!
Oh gosh, this one's going to be a bit tricky.
1 - CYRUS. Team Galactic is such a fucking slog; they aren't even mildly amusing in the same way Team Rocket are, they just get in the way. At the head of this bizarrely hedonistic operation is Cyrus, a lunatic with his head so far up his own ass that he can't hear how fucking boring and self-centered he sounds.
2 - GHETSIS. He's creepy and deranged, certainly, but he's also kind of boring. In my opinion he also got a downgrade in B2W2 when he stopped being this "man behind the throne" kind of character and just became an evil dictator. N's presence is integral to his effectiveness, and once they split up he's not nearly as interesting.
3 - GIOVANNI. Credit where credit is due - Giovanni is the OG Pokemon villain, and he's not half bad either. He's also the only explicit villain that is on a League - Malva might count but I don't know if it was ever confirmed if she had anything to do with Team Flare or if she was just kind of there. Giovanni's also great because, as far as I'm aware, his ultimate goal is largely financial power, which is easier to understand than some other Pokemon villains.
4 - VOLO. Volo is where things start to get interesting in this list. He's a play on a zealous acolyte; he craves Arceus' blessing and he ends up enlisting Giratina's help to tear open a hole in the universe in order for them to meet, but he ultimately fails when you defeat him and Giratina flees. I liked his vaguely unsettling aura and the fact that he was always there when you least expected him to be, and I kind of get his motive to where he wants a reason for any suffering he faced, but ultimately the rest of his character kind of falls flat.
5 - LUSAMINE. I really liked Lusamine when I first fought her - how batshit crazy and obsessed she was; how she was willing to basically disown her own children in order to get what she wanted. In immediate hindsight her whole shpeal kind of petered out for me because I didn't know who Mohn (her long-lost husband) was and thus I had no idea what her motive was. USUM definitely did her a disservice by kinda-sorta redeeming her on-screen instead of leaving her fate up in the air like the original games did.
(The rest of these are all pretty close together in terms of how much I like them, so ranking is a little more approximate from here on out.)
6 - ROSE. SWSH unfortunately suffers from a poor plot anyway, which really doesn't do Rose any favors, but I really enjoy his calm, bussinesslike approach to everything, and how he's genuinely done good things for his community while also doing some questionable ones. I like how it's hinted that both Magnolia and Sonia regard him with hesitancy but no-one really elaborates as to why. I like how when you defeat Eternatus he just kind of... disappears, and his name is scrubbed from the League. I don't think anyone talks about him after that. That may be a plothole and not a deliberate choice, but it makes me want to study him acutely under a microscope.
7 - ARCHIE / MAXIE. (I'm counting these two as a pair because they serve the same purpose within their respective games.) My first villains! This is where my "well-intentioned but dumb" appreciation stems from; these two wanted to aid in the progress of humanity and also the conservation of certain Pokemon, but obviously didn't have any braincells dedicated to the consequences of their actions. It's actually really interesting to see them wholeheartedly regret their actions and realise their colossal mistakes in the moment.
8 - SADA / TURO AI. This villain and overall culmination of the SV story is so fucking terrifying and intimidating that I can't not love it. The plot twist that the Professor had been dead for years before your introduction to them was applause-worthy; the reveal that the AI had more affection, or at least respect, for the current world and the Professor's neglected son was heartbreaking. That was the moment that really shattered the illusion - that maybe, just maybe, Sada/Turo was a good person after all, but nope! They were just a deadbeat, obsessed parent all along.
9 - LYSANDRE. There's something about Lysandre that I find very, very appealing. He and Rose are very similar, and he also shares certain traits and motives with Cyrus of all people, but Lysandre succeeds more due to seemingly being more likable and having more genuine relationships - he at least has a friendship with Sycamore (or so the Professor claims). It's evident that no-one thought the worst of him and just considered him to be passionate about his desire to make the world more "beautiful". He sacrifices himself because he can't bear to live with his mistakes or his inability to accept the world as it is. He cries on-screen. He's a very poetic antagonist and I enjoy him immensely. Also his design is A+ and I love the way he carries himself.

So here's the thing about Ingo in legends arceus. It did exactly what it needed to do, and told stories they tried to tell so much better then when they tried to tell the story itself. For people who never played gen5 before, they just get this weird sad man who clearly has a story and they might be curious what his story is. For people who did play gen 5, we had something that hurt.
(the stories people talk about with ingo/emmet, seam far to similar to Lusamine's story about trying to open up wormholes to look for her missing Husband. And that story had a bittersweet ending were she ultimately decided not to tell him about their past, as they seamed so happy with their new life. Something I personally wouldn't want for Ingo/Emmet, but i've at least seen a few people ponder that idea. So what i'm saying is, by giving us basically nothing but information scavenged from other games, they told the story in a way that was pretty impactful.)
I agree sometimes the angst can be a bit much. At the same time, I really like that sorta stuff myself. I just like to balance it out with some fluff, and I ultimately don't want anyone to end up miserable.
yeah, I definitely fall into the former category of not knowing who ingo was, who emmet was, etc, but he (ingo) intrigued me enough to start to learn more about him and who he is i sometimes wonder how i would have felt seeing him for the first time in legends if i did have that prior knowledge, if i had played through the battle subway in gen 5 and maybe was even part of the submas fandom back then - i'm sure it would have hurt me something big so i can only imagine what that was like for the fans in that case 😔 i also pretty much have the same feelings you do on the angst front, i enjoy it but only if there's a really great payoff of fluff at the end. like in ingo and emmet's case i just want them to end up happy in the end. reunited, maybe back running the battle subway, making new memories with their friends and family and pokemon...

I have to say I really like the idea of the kids getting no closure in the Lords of the fly AU especially for the kids that have to go back and don't share the same time as their dad.
Giovanni's devastated but tries his absolute hardest not to show it. he has no idea if his father's okay. (he won't know for sure until so far down his life.) Giovanni hardens his heart and tries to move on. [ he tells himself that there's nothing more than he could do] he takes what he learned from the endeavor about leadership. He knows that those kids that were merely parroting what ingo told them were right now. [ it's too late now to fix it at least he's making his mother 'happy']
Guzma loses the one adult that ever actually respected him. An actual caring father that didn't use his golf clubs on him. Who loved him and praised him. Who saw him as STRONG. Guzma Was torn from such a figure in his life Without warning and nobody around him believes that it ever happened. ( he wonders/hopes that if this lusamine lady can retrieve his true father like she swears to do for her husband) he see the bunch of kids/teens that are also rejected by the trial system and is reminded of that rather traumatic experience and builds up his own town . [In some ways it makes him happy, he hopes that he's doing good]
Cyrus just wants to rip and tear out his own heart as emotions that he's never really felt before overflow him that he knows logically wouldn't do anything for him. Everything could have been All right, if they just did things logically, they had nothing to do with the rift! Reasoning never worked! His horrible awful parents just makes things worse if they try to pressure him down and down. [IT WASN'T REAL SHUT UP]
All of those kids trauma still affects them and for some it provides fuel for the fire that is their villain Conquest. For others it was just a dream that had a really bad ending.

Rushing to get medicine you just stole to your sick father figure who REALLY needs it, just to be ripped out of Hisui and put back into your own time with no explanation or closure would be HARD
and MAN Anon you really did a good job of connecting all of this to these threes’ motives!! That’s so sad though :( they really looked up to this man who helped them so much, but ironically the events that were attached to it pushed them down the paths that would eventually make them villains. Wow!!
Tumblr media
And Giovanni would take it hard because even if he doesn’t talk about how much he cares about Ingo, it’s shown in his own way with stuff like this haha.
Ingo says he’s barely thirty and gets called a fossil.

It was an odd thing for her to do.
Kalos held complicated feelings in her heart, and she tried to avoid it if at all possible, and any time forced there was kept to a bare minimum She left as soon as she could, every time. It held so many bitter memories of her childhood, neglect from her family, and most of all...
Her mother.
Manette Aether.
In her hands, she held a small bouquet. Her eyes were fixed on the gravestone beneath her. Lusamine couldn't remember the last time she'd visited her mother's grave - It had to have been well over a decade, if not more.
The tombstone was a little worn, chipped in a few places, and there wasn't any evidence of anyone visiting in recent times. It made sense, she wasn't particularly close with any of her extended family, if any of them were still around. What had possessed her to come here? Why had she brought her horrible mother flowers?
With a sigh, Lusamine squats down and places the bouquet on the dirt before the gravestone.
"Um... Hello, mother," She began awkwardly. "It's... I know it's been a while. I'm sorry. You would be so angry at me for ignoring you for so long, wouldn't you?" Despite the harshness of her words, there was a small smile present on her lips.
"In all honesty, I don't... I don't know why I'm here. You were... I know you tried your best with me, but you were so..." She clenches her jaw as she fumbles over her words.
"My feelings for you are complicated. Even after all this time. Even after I've had decades to think about the way you treated me, I still...
Tumblr media
"I love you. I mean that. You may have hurt me over and over again, but I did love you. At the same time, I... I think I hated you, too. There was so much I wanted to say to you while you were alive, but you passed so suddenly that I... I never got the chance. I wanted to tell you how unfair you were, how demanding you were, how downright cruel you were at times, and how sick to death I was with dealing with you. I was sick of walking on eggshells with you.
"But now I can never say those things. Not to your face. Not in a way that you'll hear them. I can sit here and ramble for hours, but I know you'll never truly know how I felt about you, and that..."
Lusamine wipes away a single tear she didn't realize had slipped.
"That hurts. That's something I regret, not standing up for myself. But it was because you passed that I was finally able to find freedom. I can't help but wonder if you would be... Proud of me. Proud of the decisions I made and the things I accomplished. I do good things, mother. I help Pokemon - countless Pokemon. I turned Aether into something good.
"I had a husband, too. Can you believe that? I was so against marriage, but I found someone that became the exception. I had a family, and children, and I... Even though it... It all fell apart, I... I think you would have loved them. Maybe not at first, but my husband... You couldn't not love him. It's not the path you wanted for me, but I... I became independent. I accomplished things on my own. That's something to be proud of, right...?"
She falls quiet for a moment. Eventually, she lets out another sigh, and stands to her feet.
"I don't even know why I'd want you to be proud of me. Even after all these years, all I want is your approval. How pathetic is that?" Her eyes lift from the grave and she stares at the sky - at nothing in particular - and she can't help but smile bitterly.
"I don't know when I'll be back next," She mutters. "But I hope you're resting well."

give us your honest opinions on all of rainbow rocket, then. if you have time
Ooh, boy. Okay. Someone's going to show up at my house-
I do want to preface this by saying I don't agree with any of their actions relating to legendary pokémon. I'm talking about the person I interact with out of necessity at the meetings.
Maxie: Maxie's a bit... sharp around the edges. But he's not bad at all, really, once he trusts you a little bit. We've had our disagreements, sure. He really did not like me when we first met. We can talk, now. And it's nice.
Archie: Archie and I get along well! We have a similar outlook on a lot of things, especially on Giovanni's trapping methods. And he realizes now that his plans with Kyogre were a little... well, his intentions were good. Same as Maxie. The methods weren't. Archie is one of the few people at those meetings that does look out for me where he can, and I appreciate that.
Giovanni: Oh, Giovanni... I punched his lights out pretty recently. And it felt amazing. And I hated it. I hate being angry, I hate being violent when I don't need to be, but he just would not. Stop. Talking. And I needed him to shut up. I am so sick of the way he makes me feel, the way he makes me look to people around us- I hate that he makes me look stupid, makes me look weak. I despise the hold he has over me, and I hate that he won't tell me what he keeps me around more. ... I hate him.
Chairman Rose: Rose and I don't speak often. I barely even know what he does- he's not been at the meetings since I started attending, dealing with some 'personal issues' back in Galar. I really don't have a strong opinion either way on him.
Piers: I admire how he looks after N. I also admire his honesty. We don't talk much, but I think he's a good kid.
Ghetsis: I despise him. The way he treats both people and pokémon makes me sick. I healed his Hydreigon once after a battle, and it showed up at my house that night, that's how shit he is to it. He's a vile human being, and I don't know how Colress deals with him. He was almost nice to me once, when he made me a cup of tea, before promptly criticizing my husband for marrying a man. He also tried to kill my brother, and nearly killed me. Giovanni had to stop him.
N: Honestly, I don't really know what N is doing in our meetings. He's uncomfortable around Ghetsis, which is completely fair, and I don't think he even really wants to be there. I sit next to him. We have nice conversations. I gave him a fidget cube once when he was anxious, and he returned the favor at the next meeting. He's a good kid.
Colress: Colress is lovely. Redirecting his efforts to something beneficial now that he's not fully tied to Ghetsis is amazing, and he's genuinely just a lovely person. We've battled on occasion, and I've normally lost, but it's always a fun time. We play Scrabble together, and have a rule where you can spell words however you want. We are both dyslexic.
Lysandre: I have... mixed feelings on Lysandre. For reasons I can't really delve into. It would be unprofessional of me. I do want to say, though, that he never did anything to me directly. Of Rainbow Rocket, he is nowhere near the worst.
Lusamine: She was awful to her children, and I resent her for that. I'm also from Alola, and was visiting when she opened up the wormholes. She put my family in danger, and I resent that too. I know of nothing good she's ever done.
Cyrus: Cyrus is... complicated. One the one hand, he's friends with Kamiya (who I will get to, don't you fucking worry), but on the other, he's... decently pleasant when he visits. He comes over to my house every now and then, and we talk. I worry about him wandering the island so often. I hope he's alright.
Kamiya Sakoda: Where to fucking start with you, Kamiya? He helped me through my second divorce. Namely, he helped me realize the way my husband was treating me and my son. Let me stay at his house while I was figuring things out, and was generally helpful to me. Even set me up with my new husband. Then he got upset that my attention wasn't fully on him anymore. And he started being a dick. I had been hiding from my father, at the time- meeting with him and my brother occasionally, but not letting them know where I was staying. For my own safety. But they found out eventually, and dragged me out of my home to beat me. Twelve hours in, they called our family doctor (who just so happens to be Kamiya's fucking wife) so of course, he showed up. Carried me back to his house, insisted I stay for my own safety. Generally 'caring', when he wasn't hitting my injuries. Turns out, he was the one that told my father where I was. I was furious when I found out. Angry at him for doing such a thing, angry at myself for not seeing it coming- it was horrible. I'll never forgive him. For any of it.
Haruka: My ex-husband. The one Kamiya helped me get away from. I don't want to think about him.
Zero: Zero freaks me the fuck out. I'm sure that's probably his whole thing, but it works, and I don't like it. He's horrifying to look at, boring to talk to, and overall just not my cup of tea.
Lucio: Lucio is just plain unpleasant. He thinks he's better than he is, and it shows pathetically. His business is shady at best, and at worst, plain predatory. He also has an annoying habit of hurting people that work for me.

Mohn seems to be placing his hands on Lillie's shoulders, but I don't think he would recognize her... (I hope his probable amnesia does get resolved tho. I'd like to see at least one series where Lusamine gets her husband and the kids get their dad back...)

Pokemon Journeys Episode 111 Review
Tumblr media
Pokemon Journeys Episode 111. Let’s review:
This episode was really beautiful.
While I do wish we got a little more insight of their own journey, it was very nice to see Lillie and her family conclude their goal of finding Mohn, which was done in a spectacular fashion. Mohn suffering amnesia as a Shiny Nihilego tried its best to help it relive the life as a father was such a good plot point and the conclusion was just beyond satisfying with Mohn recovering his memories via his reflection before he and the rest of his family happily adopt the Nihilego for all its time for him.
That’s not even mentioning the fantastic emotion displayed across the episode. Seeing Lusamine break down from her own husband not remembering her was very well done, as was her children’s determination to make things right, showing just how three of them have grown in Sun & Moon. Zoroark hugging Mohn was also a great touch and it was nice seeing Ash, Goh, and Chloe just having fun together without worrying about what will Eevee evolve into all the time.
Wish there was just a bit more to Ash’s reunion to Lillie and her family. Lillie’s reunion with him was fine, but I feel Gladion could’ve had a bit more time with him. And Lusamine didn’t even notice him at all. Additionally, Ash, Goh, and Chloe pretty much all just clam up when they reach Mohn’s house and all three of them just become “there” afterwards. Not too much of a problem really, it’s just ever so slightly distracting.
Anyways, I’d give this episode a 9/10. Beautiful and wholesome the whole way through. And you know I’m pumped up for the next episode.
