albus: there’s two sides of him— dead by daylight (he forces scorpius to play just so he can bully the shit out of him and hear him scream on his mic when he gets jumpscared) or omori (someone check up on him maybe…)

scorpius: minecraft (he likes to be the housewife making his house look pretty whilst albus goes out and mines for their family of mushroom cows) and little misfortune (yeah he also needs a check up)

rose: sims 4 (how she deals with her god complex)

james: silent hill (says it’s because the protag is named after him but he’s actually very mentally ill and resonates with the manifestation of self-punishment)

lily: mortal kombat 11 (for the fatality, but mostly for mileena)

hugo: fortnite (bro is a toddler and likes to attend the concerts) and my singing monsters (bro was feeling… musical)

teddy: hades (local pansexual genderfluid sillyman lets himself get slain by the hot villains again) and baldurs gate 3 (for literally the same reasons except add character customisation)

victoire: cooking dash (she likes to feel stressed) and the witcher 3 (shes never played another witcher game)

lorcan: fnaf (he always thinks hes done with it and then a new game or dlc comes out) and it takes two (he forces lysander to play with him obvi)

lysander: little nightmares 2 (only game that had him shook)

fred: detroit: become human (loves story-based games and choose your own adventure) and batman: the telltale series (same reasons)

roxanne: telltale’s the walking dead (simply cant move on from any of the games except the third one)

dominique: the last of us (she’s an elitist and will yap about this game at any given chance)

louis: played doki doki literature club when he was 12 and that was it for bro (….core memories were made)

molly: resident evil 3 (she likes them all but is obsessed with jill) but also life is strange (she’s probably gay)

lucy: when asked will tell you its pathologic (which she still loves a lot and is an elitist about) but it’s secretly danganronpa (she likes feeling smart when she connects clues leave her alone)

yann: final fantasy 7 (hes obsessed with the world and its the only game he can play)

polly: amanda the adventurer (to no one’s surprise)

karl: roblox (he’s been banned on so many different servers for bullying little children and is one of the most infamous hated users in his continent)

craig: league of legends (he’s a bit of a loser) and injustice: gods among us (he needs to win the challenges and unlock the characters)

sophia: stardew valley (she wants to live in a world without conflict (she will get stressed over it anyway))

one interesting thing in programming is the prevalence of scripting languages, which refer to programming languages that are built around "scripts" which are interpreted at run-time rather than other types of programs which are compiled into machine code and then executed. The important distinction here is that with scripting languages, you write your code and run it, with no in-between compilation step (which often can take a while).

as the name implies, scripting languages are really good for "scripting" things! so if you have a certain set of steps you want to execute every time you log in to your computer (i.e. turn on my vpn, adjust my timezone, deactivate my webcam) you'll use something like Bash to write that script, rather than an ahead-of-time compiled language like C.

The most common (by far, like it's not even close) scripting language is javascript, which you may know from the internet. But another popular scripting language, especially for videogames, is Lua.

There's a few cool things about Lua, but one of my favorites is that it's Brazilian! Nearly every programming language in widespread use was developed in the USA, but Lua was developed at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, which is where it is still developed to this day!

While made famous by roblox, which uses Lua for scripting the games you can make within it, manh other games also use Lua, such as:

jameson is the kind of person to curse all of the time but then he had to learn not to do it as much because avery thought it was annoying

xander was terrified to meet max's parents but they loved him

nash has a super high heat tolerance because he was the brother who was always out in the blistering texas sun for no reason

at some point when jameson was like eleven he had to start giving his phone to skye at night because he would always be playing roblox on it when he was supposed to be sleeping

jameson still plays roblox sometimes

grayson was one of the kids who had the erasers in the second grade and he took pride in them

off topic but would grayson like wear normal clothes when he was younger because for some reason i imagine him as an eight year old wearing suits to the third grade

at least once every few months max and xander watch all of the marvel movies together over the span of a week

Puffer (At Dead of Night)

“This is stupid! All we’re doing is running from a bald guy,” I laughed as I controlled the movements in the game as we ran between rooms. Puffer had been asked to play At Dead of Night. Despite knowing he did not like horror games, he agreed as long as I was there for it. Neither of us had heard much of this game, and so far it was pretty boring. “Am I supposed to lock this door?”

“Maybe? Isn’t the guy chasing you?” Puffer answered as he leaned closer to the screen. He broke his glasses recently, so he was blind for this stream, and that’s the main reason he asked me to join. “Wait, why is that light flickering?”

“Like I know,” I scoffed as I immediately moved toward it. Nothing happened. “See chat, y'all just be hyping up this game, and it's plain.” I turned around in the game and jumped in my seat as some random person showed up. “Holy shit!”

“Dr. Bose was accused of the worst crime possible,” Puffer joked with mock seriousness. “We need to go to the ground floor now to see the police lights!” He took over the controls, again leaning close to the screen to see.

“Maybe you shouldn’t speed run out of the room,” I advised.

“Nah, we’ll be fine,” And almost like Jimmy was listening, he jumped out from around the corner to kill us. Puffer jumped back in his chair, causing it to fall back.

“What did I fucking say!?”

Pezzy (Doors)

“It’s Roblox. How scary can it possibly be?” were going to be my famous last words. I was sure of it.

“I swear to god if one more of these things pulls me out of the closet again, I will throw my controller at the screen!” I shouted as I died once again.

“Welcome to the club,” Pezzy laughed, “It only gets worse.”

“I’m going to cry,” I joked as I respawned. “This is literally torture! I did not agree to do this!”

“Yes, you did!” Leave it to Pezzy to pull up the receipts in the form of a text you sent him a while ago. He briefly showed it to the camera before clearing his throat, and imitating my voice, “I doubt it’s even that hard. I bet that I could speed run it faster than you.”

“I don’t remember saying that sober,” I admitted as I ran through the doors, ignoring Pezzy’s laugh. “I really don’t. In fact, I think a certain someone stole my phone and texted someone while we were drunk. I wouldn’t put it past you honestly.”

“I cannot believe you would accuse me of such a thing,” Pezzy gasped as he put a hand to his chest. “I seem to remember you bragging about not being scared of anything. You’re eating your words now, huh?”

“Never,” I said definitively. It didn’t last long as, almost immediately, the red skull thing chased me through the rooms. “I swear! PLEASE!”

Droid (FNAF Help Wanted)

“It’s not even that bad,” I laughed as I glanced at chat while Droid stood behind me playing Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted. I had played it before since I was practically a FNAF channel, so Droid made it his subgoal to play it when they hit 5,000 subs. Granted, he did not think it would happen that quickly. “Just wait until you get to the third game.”

“You’re kidding me!” He shouted as he frantically looked around the room. “There’s no way it gets worse than this! You’re capping!”

“Nah, you’re just a baby,” I laughed as a highlighted chat caught my eye.

“You should shove him.” it read. Thankfully, he could not read chat while in the game, so I took this as my opportunity. With a smirk, I stood up and walked around to stand behind Droid. Just as the music picked up in the game, I grabbed his shoulders and he was jumpscared. From me and the game as Bonnie jumped out at him.

He flung his arms back to try and drab me, but I ducked and ran back to my chair. He pulled the headset off and immediately glared at me. He let go of the joycons as he pointed and slowly approached me.

“I will murder you,” He joked as he leaned down to be at eye level with me. “I will threaten domestic violence live on Twitch.”

“Don’t threaten me with a good time,” I joked back as I raised my eyebrows.

“WOAH! WOAH! WOAH! Nah, don’t even!”

Grizzy (GMod Horror Maps)

“I don’t like the squidward-looking thing or the witches,” I cried as I ran my character through the dark maze. “Why did you mod them in?”

“Because I knew you didn’t like them,” Grizzy laughed as his character followed mine around. “I can remove one of them if you want.”

“Please do,” I laughed as I purposely let myself get killed by Squidward, so I would respawn. Grizzy exited the game to fix the mod as I stayed on the call with him, entertaining his chat. Eventually, he got it changed but did not tell me what he put in.

“Can I know what was spawned?” I asked as I reloaded the game. I had to update it since the mods changed, and I got stuck on the loading screen for a minute. I thought he would have told me at that point, but no. When I loaded into the game, I saw a hoard of witches immediately. I slowly looked over to Discord to see Grizzy’s face cam, and of course, he’s got that malicious smile. “I will murder you.”

“You always say you could outrun the witches,” Grizzy laughed as his character also loaded it. As soon as he spawned, he threw a bomb at the group. “I’m testing you.”

I screamed as I ran my character the opposite way through the maze, “What the fuck is wrong with you!”

“See!? It’s not so easy, huh?” Grizzly laughed as he watched my character run. ”What are you mumbling?”

“California girls were unforgettable,” I said a little louder than before as my voice got higher. “Daisy dukes bikinis on top.”

How did i dream up an entire fucking horror game/Movie help????

So basically i was with my mom at some amusement park i think? And there was a butcher shop?? But it only sold like pork, kept live pigs in an fenced in area and would also cook for you so idk and as i passed by the shop i thought to myself "Sure would be strange if a pig had human eyes here" and i look down and sure enough there is a pig with sunken in eyes and human eyes staring at the sky saying "They aren't always dead" which i think what it was meaning is that some animals are cooked alive which also i think that was also referencing the fact it was really hot outside where the pigs were and they were suffering from that. anyways i was horrified and the butcher came out (Nice dude, as far as i know, he never did anything wrong in the dream) and greeted us, and i looked back at the pig and it turned out to just be a pink like, outside electronics cover thing? (idk what is called) that was dirty and had some really dark black spots on the top, He just scrapped some of the spots off with is spatula and went back inside, and me and my mom went inside too, to order some food. So then all the lights flickered and went dim, and there as a small child, completely blacked out aside from the glowing eyes. And a 20 minute timer started i had like, no fear for some reason, irl i'd be terrified lol but i chased the figure around the building, with a knife, i was going to fucking stab a shadow. The figure never really moved, but as you got close it would teleport to the next room with an open door and heres the funny part I apparently figured how to kill the ghost thing because i remember a roblox game i beat once??? (In the dream lore, irl this game dont exist +i dont play roblox) Anyways I chased it to the basement stairwell, closed the door and turned off the lights, which in turn trapped it, and stabbed it. And the timer was at like 2 mins something so i was cutting it close (I think all the people in the building would die when it hit zero) any ways this is like the third dream i've had that is like a game/movie and made me scared of an animal. The first two were baboons and now its pigs also one of the baboon dreams had a fucking credits sequence lmao

God drama where do we even begin?

So! The Sims came back and dnp made Dil & Tabitha young again. Dalien is an emo teen now. Dab and Evan are going to get married by the end of the year. They decided their house desperately needed a makeover, so they bulldozed the whole thing and are planning to start from scratch in the new high school world.

Then after that spooky week happened. They played a game called "Don't Scream" where the objective is to well...not scream when the game throws various jumpscares at you. Dan grabbed Phil's hand after getting jumpscared and they replayed it not once, not twice, but THREE TIMES. They played Poppy Playtime, a weird indie golfing game, another indie horror game called Elevated Dread, Five Nights at Freddy's. THEN to conclude spooky week, there was The Baking video. Omg drama the baking video...it still feels like a fever dream.

So they baked spooky cinnamon rolls & Phil (dressed as the devil) convinced Dan to put on his nun costume. He completely LOST it when Dan came out. He turned bright red and was giggling like a schoolboy. Dan kept making it worse by flirting with him too. He ran his hand down Phil's arm suggestively, which already had Phil struggling to keep it together (God this sounds like a phanfic but I swear that's how it happened), but THEN Dan flicked his devil horns and Phil totally lost his cool and had to go squat down behind their kitchen island for a minute. Dan's ass cheeks were fully on display in several shots bc the dress was so short. Dan really leaned into the bimbo persona in the nun costume, and Phil embraced the himbo and as a result, they were the stupidest they've ever been. They don't know how to do basic math, or spell or know who discovered gravity, but that's ok bc they're hot. At one point they pressed up close together and made one of those "me and my partner saw you across the room" jokes and it was genuinely funny but also totally wild. Then the video ended with Dan stripping completely naked. I can't believe what I just typed either.

THEN when spooky week was done they came back with a video where they looked at a fan-recreation of their first London apartment in Roblox. It was nostalgic, impressive and incredibly creepy at the same time. Dan probably had to go lie down on the floor and think about his life choices after it.

THEN google feud came back. It was dumb as always. Dan called Phil cousin, so now I'm on cousin hill. They used the video as an excuse to bring back Dan vs Phil so we can look forward to that in the near future.

And THEN they dealt the ultimate psychic damage with the cat video, which you saw so I don't need to give you a summary. Queenusagi of Lazy Days fame designed their legalize catboys sweater, which is really cool. I love how they're commissioning phannie artists now, but also Why are they doing that?

THEN they went back into Roblox and looked at more disturbing creations that were probably made by some poor 12 yr old in 2018. There was a ladydoor room where the song was playing and it was II themed. They went into a room that had recreations of several of their most ironic moments throughout the years including the pinof tackle. To which Dan said "what are they doing honey? Wrestling.... they're wrestling..."

And that's what you missed on Dan and Phil. I probably forgot some things bc soooo much happened. But yeah Drama. it's been a weird and wild ride. Glad to have you back.

Okay first of all forget kissing you with tongue I am sucking you off for this. Second of all hey, what the fuck? And third of all I forgot all about the catboy comic did Phil ever fuck the cat

Finally Introducing my Baldi's Basics OCs!!

My minor obsession over baldi's basics got so bad i made 2 whole ocs (i don't have plans to make a third one rn but who knows) but here's some minor info on my two ocs, Gorjin and Mother Depth.

Lets start off with the low poly boy himself! Gorjin! 🎺

♪● Gorjin is theorized to be about 5'6, similar in height to Dr Reflex.

♪● Gorjin actually has a music note necklace and a propeller tail, evidence photos below :

♪● Gorjin's tail actually spins when he either gets excited or when he plays his trumpet.

♪● Gorjin's limbs float, they cannot bend by any circumstance, his limbs just move as 1 piece, not 3 pieces connected.

♪● Gorjin wasn't exactly born, he just "spawned" into existence.

♪● Gorjin actually has a "mother" but they're a faded memory then upon remembering, it makes Gorjin uneasy.

♪● Gorjin has a weird way of speaking, a quick listen to his text-to-speech voice and see for yourself -

♪● Gorjin's the only music teacher in the school, usually being able to be heard from the music room, he's an excellent trumpet player.

♪● Gorjin's a bit of a scardy cat-like shy guy, even bringing his trumpet everywhere for emotional support, anxiety is wacky at best.

♪● Gorjin's actually agender, meaning bro got no gender nor care for the absence of it.

♪● Gorjin's also a gay asexual adult, even though Gorjin has no confirmed age, he doesn't even know himself, and even the lack of a birthday is baffling, him going by He/Him is also head-scratching.

♪● Gorjin loves his personal space but he does have minor separation anxiety.

♪● Gorjin can accidentally burst your ear drums with his trumpet out of fear if you come up to him a bit too rapidly, so be best careful to slow down when you pass near him.

◈ Mother Depth is a heavily advanced robot modeled after a female physics teacher who was a revolutionary member of the math ingenuity throughout the 80's.

◈ She goes by She/Her, since she was programmed to know she's female, even though she's technically agender.

◈ She was built to be 7'8, a request from the female physicist she was modeled after.

◈ She has no age, but it's theorized that her development in construction and programming took 6-8 years.

◈ The metal pigtails she has on her welled-on metal hair actually can sorta coil around, they do twitch sometimes, kind of like an animal's ears. they don't go down when she's sad, she's in fact emotionless due to her programming, she's a machine, not a human.

◈ Her mouth does not move, its stuck as a smile, in fact, her mouth is just a speaker mesh that hides her voice box, here is an example of her voice -

◈ The woman Mother Depth was modeled after was named "Abigale R Schnauzer", and was built by 6 different engineers and programmed by 4 different coders/scientists.

◈ Mother Depth does have horns actually, they're are more like sharpened horns that come out of her hair when she detects a threat, it's more like when someone raises their voice a little too angrily, example photos down here -

◈ By some unknown bug in her program, she has a bit of a motherly nick in her interactions with her "favorite acquaintances"

◈ Surprisingly, Mother Depth is able to mimic voices or sounds when you ignore her, she uses this as a taunting tactic,

◈ Mother Depth loves attention, but when you ignore her, that's when she uses her sound-mimicking abilities.

◈ She's a bit of a sadistic one, but does not really harm you physically, just mentally, its most possibly another of her multiple bugs in her old system.

◈ The symbol on her choker is supposed to be a circle with a X. (but being honest i couldn't find that shit on Roblox for the life of me ;-;)

◈ She was scrapped for 2 years, just collecting dust once [REDACTED] found her and fixed her up to sell her somewhere.

◈ However, there is a way to actually stun her, a simple BSODA can at least stun here for a good amount of time, like a whole minute.

A bunch of Mario Family headcanons:

Because I think a very normal amount about the larger Mario family and very very very much want The Super Mario Brothers Super Show Reboot all about them

G-Poppy and his wife moved to American from Italy in their 20′s, making Mario and Luigi third generation immigrants

G-Poppy’s dream was to own and run an authentic Italian a Restaurant in America, but after the birth of his oldest son, Pio, the need for quick cash to pay rent was more pressing, thus why he got into Boxing

Papa Mario’s full name is Pio Mario Jr, he’s named after G-Poppy

Pio is a good 5-6 years older than his younger brothers, Arthur and Tony, who are only a year apart at most

Sense bills were tight, Pio spent a lot of his childhood being another income to the house hold, working hard labor work like construction to keep the family afloat while his brothers were young

Eventually G-Poppy got too old for wrestling and finally realized his dream of opening a Restaurant; Punch-Out Pizza. This put the family in more financial struggle, forcing Pio to take up more work while Arthur and Tony helped in the Restaurant

Now that G-Poppy is retired Arthur and Tony run the business together. Arthur’s the finance guy, where Tony runs deliveries and hands on manages other employees

It was actually their Grandmother who made Mario and Luigi’s caps for them, she’s also made G-Poppy’s. She passed before Louisiana was born, thus why she couldn’t make her a cap as well

Tony’s a huge horror movie buff, he loves old classics and has a huge VHS collection. Part of the reason Luigi is so scared of the paranormal is from catching glimpses or watching whole movies with Uncle Tony growing up

Another big part of Luigi’s fear though may just come from Uncle Tony loving to scare him. A big pass time for Tony was waiting around corners in Halloween masks to jump scare Luigi, or telling him ghost stories any change he got

Mario also got a bad fear from Uncle Tony’s movies; Pianos. He’d just happened to catch a pretty nasty scene of the lid of a Grand Piano crushing someone when he was younger and it stuck with him pretty hard

Louisiana is about 11-12 years younger than Mario and Luigi, so despite being cousins the three have a hard time relating to one another from the large age gap

Louisiana prefers to go by Louise, though only Mario and Luigi call her that. She was also the first one in the family to use the “Lou” nickname for Luigi, which Mario quickly also picked up

Arthur loves baseball, the Mets especially, but really he’ll watch any team play. He regrets not being on his school’s baseball team when he was younger, due to having to help at the restaurant, thus why he signed his daughter Louisiana up as soon as she was old enough. She’s stuck with it to keep her dad happy

Mia makes 90% of the meals in the Mario household, with the occasional help from Arthur. She learned most her dishes from her own mom, and a good deal more from Pio’s mother after marrying into the family

Marie is absolute rubbish in the kitchen. Mia’s given her multiple lessons and had her help with dinner many times around when she was expecting Louisiana, but she rarely made anything edible. The only one who ate her meals was Arthur, who just wanted to support his wife with all he had, even if it made him ill (which it did. Many times. Tony made fun of him for it)

Tony loves to work on machinery, mostly motorcycles, and has bounced around working part time as a mechanic here and there before his duties at the restaurant drag him back

Pio, Tony, and Mario are the only ones in the Mario family with a drivers license, though Tony was the only one who drove regularly until Mario bought the van

The Mario family owns 4 gaming devices; The Brother’s NES that they bought with their saved up chore money in Middle School, a Wii Marie and Mia do Wii Fit on in the living room, Uncle Tony’s PS2 that’s mostly collecting dust, and the Home Computer that Louise plays Roblox and Minecraft on

Pio pushes a lot of his own raising onto Mario, as the oldest he thinks Mario should be responsible, a support for the family, not chasing his own crazy dream that could crash down onto them into debt

On the flip side, Arthur puts a lot of what he wanted for himself onto Louisiana, pushing her to do new things and plays sports and do after school activities like he never got to do having to work in the Restaurant growing up

Tony’s the only one he sees this happening, and thus has stayed the fun uncle who’ll get you out of that thing you don’t want to do if asked. He’s listened to a lot of vents from the kids as he drives them from one activity to the next, and tries to remind them their parents are doing their best, and love them a lot. For everyone but Luigi that reminder fell on deaf ears

My gosh I hate traditional namers. Thankfully my main encounters with them have been in areas where I could just walk away from them no harm no fowl but I certainly got a very bad experience with one in particular. Story time since we’re sharing stories: I have a cream colored tabby OC named Lynxleap who has tufted ears and a bobbed tail (hence the lynx part of his name). I was waiting for a rp to start on Roblox along with two others (we wanted a few others before starting) and this cat named Badgerfur came in and started insulting out characters “why don’t you have Star in your name if you’re leader and Oliver isn’t a legal prefix and you look NOTHING like a lynx you must be so stupid if you think that’s what they look like!” I told them I thought his tail and ears were good enough to warrant the name but they INSISTED Lynxleap had to be brown because names were based on looks and personality or else I’d have to change his name. I kept telling them “I’m not changing my character for you, I like him like this” and Badgerfur then started cussing me out, immediately after calling me a kid repeatedly. Like who does this person think they are policing a public roleplay like that? I was ready to rp with them until they started making a big ol’ stink about our names.

Ohh man you're bringing me back to my old Feralheart RP days, that happened to me once where some punk started insulting my AMAZING wolf design because it had some purple in it, I blocked them, they dragged their friend into it, I blocked them too, and then they called a THIRD friend in...

But I befriended the third friend and they were like, "Yo actually this Bones guy's pretty cool." Nat 20 on the charisma. Made the blocked person sooooooo mad. Must have been because my wolf was so cool B)

Defunctland Disney Theme Documentary -A Critical Analysis-

so after a shit day of existing in public and thinking about my art, ive watched these videos of these very obscure youtubers :

the Defunctland video had me feeling we will never have a clear confirmation of who wrote the disney jingle. it's easy enough to get more information in the roblox video where the boss of the company (Tommy Tallarico) is so obviously putting himself out there any chance he has, even when he really should not. This man has seemingly always been kind of unlikeable, yet mostly tolerated for his entire career. On the other hand, hbomberguy mentioned the actual work of Joey Kuras, being the self-credited designer of all sound effects from.....most of the games that Tommy Tallarico Studios worked on for sound design. Joey Kuras also made the glorious sound design of the Fortnite Pick Squeak pickaxe, which is the best fucking fortnite pickaxe, after the scampi slugs pickaxe which is criminally underrepresented in the Fortnite Pickaxe Tier Lists, but whatever. Weirdly enough, none of haze's pickaxes are on the tierlist despite their extremely cool design theme, either. I didn't find the cool neon shark one, or the neon street signs either. Heh, whatever, just look at all of these I just mentioned. They're all above the pick squeak, naturally.

I'd say the vuvuzela pickaxe comes second after the pick squeak because obviously it does, it makes the player's brain enter football mode trying to activate the sound by finding a netcage and kick a ball into it, and the homestuck reference comes third because it's a good omen of what's to come. Then the balloon pickaxe is a strong fourth as it also makes great sounds of the balloons rubbing each other when you hit the air with it. Much subtler as far as sound design goes, but definitely a strong pick.

Honorable mentions go to the brightly colored dumbbell pickaxe, the splatoon pickaxe, and the drum pickaxe. Other notable pickaxes include a camera pickaxe, a pizza cutter pickaxe, but also a stop sign battleaxe pickaxe (which I feel is a very sapphic mood) as well as the obvious crowbar, going far in the anti-authoritarian aesthetic. There's also the survivalist shovel that's pretty cool, as well as a bunch of others whose shapes surprisingly escape my understanding altogether. And then there is the trash, where the pickaxe stabbing a shark goes (the shark isn't even neon at this point !!! Trash).

Those are the forgettable ones. Yeah, the planet pickaxe is forgettable and doesn't even appeal to a cosmic aesthetic. It looks like a toy, and if you want a toy pickaxe just buy the pick squeak next time it comes in the shop. Get yourself ready with the fortnite trackers and shit, its only 1500 Vbucks. Worth it even if you don't play the game. Its what, the price of an entire meal ? Come on. Worth it.

Anyway god damn it.

Aside from that. Yeah. I think the Defunctland video couldn't do as much of a good investigation job because it's about Disney. As a mediatic monopoly on media, you can't simply retrace the work people made as well as in a company that was seemingly just two ex-Virgin employees trying to make a sound design company work out.

In the Defunctland video, the only clear confirmation we get that Alex Lasarenko is the composer of the melody the entire video is about is by Andrea Taylor, the previous Senior Vice President of Disney Channel. Which by all accounts has never worked in the sound design of any of disney's projects.

Her job was to "create" personalities for networks, as in : be the link between a brand and the artists that will then rework its identity. Organize contractors, including Tonal Sound, which was founded by Alex Lasarenko after leaving Elias Music in 2002, the same year the actual jingle was composed and used on the channel. I think it's important to keep in mind that Alex Lasarenko is said to have been the "creative director" of both companies (Elias and Tonal), which I think is not the right term.

Creative directors are assigned from the start of a specific project, no matter the industry. Someone will assume the leading role in order to help focusing said project in one direction, making sure it doesn't get carried away to become something entirely different in the process. It's mostly a managerial role which does imply a strong grasp on the domain's technicalities, as a creative director can absolutely directly contribute to the project.

The issue is, Alex Lasarenko was also the executive of both these projects that were contracted by disney. What's absolutely certain at this point is that the theme song has been made under Alex Lasarenko, whether it's at Elias or Tonal. My take is, it was probably made under Elias as they still seem to be a provider for the Disney audio identity to this day, as shown on their website. On the other hand, there is no way to check online what specific projects Tonal Sounds worked on, unfortunately, as it's been shut down since.

And because Eric Perlmutter wrote the "Let's Watch a Disney Channel Movie" Theme under Tonal Sound after having followed Alex Lasarenko out of Elias, while still not knowing who actually made the jingle, I think it's safe to say Alex Lasarenko didn't actually make it on his own. The direction taken for the bumpers's music was much more vague than if it was passed down to Eric Perlmutter by the composer of the original jingle himself.

Kevin : "Wait so you didn't write the theme, but you wrote with the theme ?"

Eric : "Yes, so we would have the theme. Mostly for those, we just had so much fun with them[...]because they're so short."

-talking about his experience, contracted by Disney within Elias Associates, working under the leadership of Alex Lasarenko. Which then goes on to talk about the sheer status of Elias Music (formerly known as Elias Art or Elias Associates). Eric saying "we" as a pronoun when he's talking about getting to work with the pre-made 4 notes from the disney channel's theme song reminds me of something.

Yeah, that's the answer. It was Joey who wrote the disney jingle.

More seriously, the actual important bit in the Defunctland video is at 59:06 where Kevin asks Eric about the status of Elias as a company, to which Eric responds in a very, thematically interesting way :

Eric : "I think the company tried to harness this idea of "there are no individuals here" [...] You aren't allowed to be known."

This is basically the conclusion hbomb makes in his video, mentioning how easy it is for a huge company to simply erase these names over time, as most of the work is done to establish quickly brand image and never to actually help conserve the work and allow artists to have their own career paths accessible on the long term.

Eric actually tells us about how big Elias was, and how intimidating it was to work under Alex Lasarenko in his interview, but that they were good friends and worked a lot together. The documentary seems to derail from "trying to find out" who wrote the song, to a post-mortem tribute to Alex Lasarenko, which unfortunately might still not be the one who technically created the song.

Eric mentions his former boss as the "ringleader" of all of the Elias composers, which does fit his established job as executive. The striking choice of words that go right after is the bit that made me the most emotional from the entire video though :

Eric : "Its tough when you have a boss who's a genius and who's just an absolute music prodigy, and you're just a dumb rock bass player trying to[...] breathe the same air as him"

The previous interviewee, David Little,has been working with Alex for a long time, and said "He was one of those guys, if a camera came out, he was outta here" which is definitely a healthier way to deal with working in the industry than Tommy Tallarino , thats for sure. (watch hbomb's video if you haven't done already, its great)

The interviewing session ends with Andrea Taylor telling us she worked with Alex Lasarenko back on her TNT job, where they used an orchestra to rework the channel's audio identity, probably lead by Alex himself, within that five years job.

But within the more recent disney job, Andrea Taylor tells us a lot about how the entire job went down, with a lot of very evil meetings to create demands within kids for upcoming disney movies by producing disney merch and special bumpers a whole year before said movie would even release (specifically known about "the "The Lizzy McGuire Movie" and the "Finding Nemo" movie, thanks to this interview).

At no point does Andrea seem to have any real insight in the artistic creation of every element that goes into the rebranding, she only organizes them and makes sure they all the different contractors do the work on time, by talking with the executives. Which does lead me to believe this here is a case of actual long term erasure of the person who created this melody, when she immediately credits Alex Lasarenko because she knows him as the one responsible for musical departments she used for her job.

Kevin : "Do you remember anything from the production, when he was writing the theme ?"

Andrea : "You know, he probably did it in like a day or two. Things just came to him. He was amazing. I mean he probably wouldn't have said he wrote it in a day, he probably would've said Oh I struggled over it for months !"

She wasn't there, unfortunately. She wasn't producing it. She is not a producer after all, she is a bachelor of communications from Boston University.

Kevin then goes on to call the producer Andy Solomon thanks to Andrea sending him his contact information, but Kevin isn't shown asking for confirmation that Alex really did write the theme, even though Solomon probably supervised the entire thing. Maybe it was cut, but from this point onwards the video becomes a hommage to Lasarenko instead. His sister Lisa Lasarenko then talks about his genius-like qualities as an artist, followed by David Little who also praises the "effortless" nature of his entire craft.

To me, this documentary concludes on this idealized depiction of a quiet artist who made sure he wouldn't appear on cameras his entire life, highlighted by the fact that Kevin found only one photo of him on his obituary. He was the anti-Tommy Tallarino, never attempting to reach the spotlights in his life, yet working for a massive sound company whose entire goal is to centralize sound production as well as completely erase all names from the work.

In the end, there is no real confirmation Alex wrote the theme (unless Kevin has footage of the producer having insight on when and how the theme was created exactly, which would probably be in the video if it was the case.) We just know he was leading the people who did, with never any trace of whether it was him or another one of his coworkers, or if it was a collaborative effort. We might never know who actually sat down and researched this jingle, in the end. His producer does tell us they composed an old jingle for On-Core food services together, but that's all we're getting.

Everyone also seems to say about Lasarenko that he was working incredibly fast and could switch genres on a whim. But these are standard expectations any media company will hold unto any composer they hire ! Both Eric Perlmutter and David Norland actually give a lot of insight in how they created the varying themes, and also how much each of them built up on this mnemonic tone adding their own twist.

Anyway this is a lot. I lied about the website having a satisfying disney logo on their client lists, which wasn't smooth if you remember well the video anyway. Elias doesnt have Disney + as a client. I just thought. Why did they not put disney on there, even though they obviously got major work done for them, and an empty space on the website where a perfect little Disney logo would fit or something. Come on Elias, fill up that brand square, you got an empty spot. Like sure they might not be "featured clients" but which company its in right mind would actually miss an opportunity to say "I made this ribbon mouse era happen" right ?? I barely even watched disney channel in my life and I still know about the motion of the wand IDs. This is a missed opportunity to brag, which is out of character for a corporation.

I talked mostly about Defunctland's video because it touched me in this specific way, but also kind of sent me chills about how efficient the actual music & editing of a video can be to convey subtle messaging. Being afraid of actually entering the animation industry with all the shit you can read about, there's absolutely a lot of ways artists get exploited, erased and even their image distorted for profit.

In the end I'm glad youtubers are talking about these subjects in such rigorous ways, as it's a very important part of how the newer generations (me included) perceive the various industries we aspire to invest ourselves in. There is never enough conversation had around the subjects of media ownership, art creation and overall what's going inside our industries, and I am so glad it's the focus of accessible works anyone can watch and think about nowadays.

That is the end of this messy post. I used to do random twitter thread rants, seeing how huge tumblr posts can be though ? This site is winning me back over. I forgive you for banning me years ago because you thought my homestuck art was porn, tumblr. You may have your sins, but you also have my appreciation.

yeah he basically built his career doing "deconstruction" videos of rwby after its third season on why it's bad like he recently did a hours long video about it "flaws" after its most recent season one of which being the fact that it has a slowburn wlw couple between two main characters 🙄 its his videos that turn people away from trying the series for themselves and he's a big reason for a lot that fandom's tags vitriol as (at least imo as someone who's been a fan since the start)

So I went to check on his channel cus this got me curious.

Idk if we’re talking about the same guy? Cus his most popular videos aren’t about RWBY at all and on his channel he still only has one RWBY video up.

Several of his most popular videos are much older than the RWBY one too so I kinda doubt that criticizing RWBY is what made him “famous”. It’s more plausible to say it was the Sherlock one cus that one has 11 million views but he never posted another Sherlock video on his channel ever since.

Like, his latest video is apparently about Roblox and it’s quite a bit more popular than his RWBY one too. Same with his Deus Ex Machina vid (right under the Roblox one) so again, it really doesn’t look like RWBY features much in his channel.

Unless he has an extra channel I don’t know about that’s all about complaining about RWBY?

What have I been up to?:

(Super long read)

Summary:

(I play a drawing video game and learn some stuff to improve my art abilities. New full render coming out on Sunday. Get excited.)

What was I doing?:

While I was gone, I was playing a game on roblox called "Spray paint". And basically you just paint anything on the walls of an abandoned skate park and let other people view and like your drawings. I have made a few pieces and this game really helped me develop a new style that utilizes zero black lines to convey realistic attributes. With this development, I have also changed the designs of two upcoming characters that will be featured in my comic!

Who are the featured characters?:

The two (new) bots have gone through some major design changes as I got to play the game more. One character who already has their named revealed to be "Raven" is reserved for a future robot piece. Her latest design is the very first picture in the collection. The second new bot will remain unnamed at this time until a post showing off his full design comes out. His latest designs are in the 8th and 9th pictures.

The third bot you should see (in the very last picture) is a redesign of "Aleister". He now has four large bat-like ears, bigger hands, two red horns on top of his head instead of the sides, and two metallic antenna cylinders on the sides of his head. I don't know why I decided to redesign him but now I realize that I needed to spice him up a bit more.

Different art style?:

As you can see throughout the pictures, the box-head robot; and "Raven" have very drastic changes between each piece. This is when I was deciding on what their canon design should look like. And eventually to come to an reasonable design that I am satisfied with. These are my two first ocs that have been created with the assistance of Roblox. And I am happy that I also have developed a new art style along with this. I am planning on using less black lines in my art to make the pieces look more realistic. At the moment I am still learning how to use this new style in Procreate, so further adjustments will have to be made.

When do we get new robot post? I'M HUNGRY!!!:

Don't worry my followers, turns out that I have been cooking something while I was gone. My next robot piece releases on Sunday at 1 PM like it always has been. This new piece will reveal the name of that box-head, skibidi toilet TV man looking, robot dude (The robot is not a reference to Skibidi toilet), and showcase a new experimental style that can enhance my photo-realistic ambitions! So stay tuned for that!
