Round 1 - Side B

Propaganda below ⬇️
Johnathan
Catholicism doesn’t really exist in the game but it also kind of does. Basically, Johnathan didn’t know that God existed until one day all the angels started coming down from heaven to have a war with the demons from hell. And then Johnathan made a pledge to go serve god and heaven and kill all humans living on earth because they were like “unfit” or “unclean” or something. So then Johnathan’s friend Walter goes to hang out with satan and then they become enemies :( But he’s basically catholic even if he doesn’t directly call himself that so i’m gonna say yes.
Johnathan literally fuses himself with god to become merkabach. He is unhinged. At the start of the game i thought he was cool because he didn’t want me to kill my best friend like WALTER did. And unlike WALTER, johnathan didn’t fuck up the boss fight with the minotaur. But then johnathan became really really bourgeoise or bougie idk whatever idk how to spell it. And then johnathan was like “FUCK POOR PEOPLE” and i was like no girl nooooo. But johnathan wanted to fuse himself with god and wipe all humans off the face of the earth because heaven thought they were impure. So he was trying to invoke the angels of destruction so badly and i was like johnathan you can’t do that son, and so i had to beat his ass. And then by extension i had to also beat god’s ass. And then i don’t really remember what happens but johnathan was essentially the most catholic guy in existence considering i don’t know anybody else who was chill enough with god to do steven universe fusion with him.
ok so like in smt theres alignments . chaos neutral and law. jonathan is the local lawboy and this means hes like the one who rather follow the rules already established and reject radical changes. but anyways hes also shown to be some sort of follower of god in this world and also of the like. local religion or whatever in mikado (where everyone is from) and hes very devoted to the cause and to keep things peaceful as they are now instead of trying to change shit up like walter (the chaosboy)
if he wants to commit genocide who am i to say no
has one fight with friend and decides to become an angel about it and nuke tokyo off the map
Fuses with literal biblical angels to become another angel that then wants to genocide anyone deemed ungodly/unclean by the biblical higher powers (which includes the entire population of Tokyo. And people who read manga).
Dude he is absolutely insane. He's my poor little meow meow. The party got high and he rolled around on the floor and meowed because he thought he was a cat. He is also so insanely gay. Like stupidly queer coded . that just makes the catholic guilt hit harder tbh
Gay boy who dies in every timeline
Paul
he's like if renfield from dracula was cool youth pastor.
He's also a priest, who essentially becomes a vampire due to an "angel" and tries to convert the entire town. He also runs an Alcoholics Anonymous group. I love him
Listen you've probably gotten this guy idk how many times but JUST IN CASE, I submitted him. He's a priest who fell in love and had a lesbian daughter. He becomes a vampire after his money-laundering fundie simp sent him to the Holy Land. He's so torn up over his lover having dementia and God allowing so much overwhelming death that he decides he's going to try to Cure Death Forever but oh boy is it a slippery slope and the man is surrounded by enablers.
so i binged watch the chosen (it's a drama series but it's the bible) and I needed to balance or else Id be insane so I watched midnight mass. It was good. Fuck this rat -- op

Midnight Mass--What’s in an Episode Title
All right, this is the first of the Midnight Mass metas I’m putting out into the universe because it’s probably the thing that made me nerd out the most as a religion minor. I wanna talk about the episode titles of the show.
I was intrigued from the start to see why they were titled the way they were. Obviously there are many books of the bible and they had to choose seven of them. They went with:
1. Genesis
2. Psalms
3. Proverbs
4. Lamentations
5. Gospel
6. Acts of the Apostles
7. Revelations
First, I appreciated the fact that the books here are sorted in the order they appear in the bible and I also like that the first four are old testament references and the last three are new testament. This fits with the length of the old testament compared to the new.
Obviously Episode 1 and Episode 7 titles weren’t surprising. Put the first book of the bible as the first episode and the last book as the last. That’s sensible enough. And Psalms, Proverbs and Lamentations all featured key passages from the referenced book in the episode as the major theme. But what REALLY got me jazzed is the naming of episode 5 and 6 and how it matches with the content.
So, for those of you who aren’t particularly familiar with the bible, the Gospel is ‘the good news’. But specifically there are four gospels in the bible and they all tell the story (though it varies a touch in every version) of Jesus. His birth, life, death, and resurrection. The resurrection is the key part here. That’s the good news. The idea that Jesus died for our sins and stuff and then rose from the dead.
BUT the Gospel I want to spotlight today is Luke. Cause he actually wrote both the Gospel of Luke AND Acts (the Acts of the Apostles). His gospel ends with Jesus being taken back to heaven and leaving his disciples with a mission to spread the good news. And Acts shows the journey of those Apostles. Their lives spreading the news of Jesus and their various deaths (most of them met violent fates).
Obviously catholic references and imagery are frequently used as a vessel of horror in this show. But it’s not that simple. Because many of our good characters, the one’s we root for, are religious (some catholic and some muslim). The show is not a condemnation of religion. And this is shown in the fact that the episode titles don’t reflect the journey of our vampiric priest or Bev. They reflect the journey of Riley and Erin.
At the end of Lamentations, Riley appears to have died. In Gospel, he returns miraculously to life. He stays only long enough to pass on his knowledge to Erin so that she can do something to help the town. And then, as a demonstration of who he is, he lets the sun rise on him and ‘take him up into heaven’ as it were. The Gospel of Luke ends with Jesus ascending. Gospels ends with Riley’s final death. And just as the disciples are left to spread word of Jesus, Erin is left to spread the truth of the thing that is poisoning this town. She is the apostle in Acts, along with the other characters she tells. The truth she bears is “unbelievable”. And yet it is no less true.
Midnight Mass focuses a lot on imitation. A vampire that imitates an angel. Vampiric blood imitating communion. And Bev imitating a good person when she is rotten to the core. And yet through all of the lies, our heroes are the one’s actually bringing the truth. They are the ones actually sacrificing. Actually trying to help people even those that have hurt them. Trying to save people they have never met. They are outcasts--an addict, a prodigal daughter, a lesbian, a muslim man--but they are the ones who truly understand the meaning of the gospel. That it is not about them. It is about everyone. And this is clearly intentional based on these episode titles.
The gospel does not come from Father Pruitt. It comes from Riley. And the good news isn’t spread by the “apostle” Bev. It’s spread by Erin.
And I just think that’s pretty neat

Bev was straight up a manipulative, passive aggressive, bitch with a cross so far up her ass. Life and her being was strictly faith based and lived her life by a book. She was so closed minded and blind to the world around her and her way was the only way, she would do anything for it be that way as it was proven when father Pruitt died in his home like the dog previously died in the park. She poisoned them to prove her power.
Father Pruitt was simply a man who was in love and afraid of death, since a child, and took what he could to avoid it and have the family he wanted. That means putting his faith and confidence in the wrong person while trying to process the changes he was going through to achieve his pathetically innocent goals. As a priest, as a man, he was very open minded and actually saw the world around him, compared to Bev. He obviously didn’t view religion as everyone else on the island, his affair with Mildred is proof of that, his love for his lesbian daughter was proof of that. He wanted to live life, experience life that wasn’t how a book was telling him how to or despite what he was taught growing up. But what else was he supposed to do when he didn’t know anything else but priest hood and and Mildred wasn’t going to let him ruin what he’s already done with his life and she didn’t want to the hurt the man she had married. He made choices, choices he regretted but accepted at the end which put him in gods graces unlike Bev who truly didn’t see no wrong with her actions and behavior and mostly likely was going to hell which is why, I believe, she started to freak out and try to dig a damn hole to nowhere. He lived and loved with his family, all in the end welcomed by god.
Also the damn vampire was very much like an Angel described in the Bible, what else was Father Pruitt supposed to think, let alone anyone else. It was also a very intelligent being, it knew what what kind of man Pruitt was and took advantage of a man of faith. Let alone a whole island.

I saw Midnight Mass and here are thoughts (spoilers)
I mentioned something about the Flanagan Checklist on a previous post about all the themes, plot point, character type and beats I keep seeing on his productions, and I am mad with myself because I didn’t included four more points that I should have see coming before:
-Cheating is going to be used as a shocking plot twist. -Familial relationships are more important than anything elsse. And it has to be immediate family, cousins and uncles don’t count. -It always ends with a couple on some way. -There is a character who just HAS to go on a bit too long monologue about death and life close the end. Most of the points I mentioned there happened, even on ways I didn’t necesarily thought, and merely one, arguably two points didn’t happened on any sort way. The ending being mostly happy with some just tragedies and then the sibling relationship being vital for the plot. Everything else was exactly as you could have expected if you watched any other Mike Flanagan show before. Does that mean is a bad show? Well, not, not really. Just predictable, a bit full of itself (especially with the monologues, god does this show loves to monologue) and underwhelming. There can be some sort of comfort on that, and there is some things I do genuelly like and applaud the show for being.
What I didn’t liked: -The whole cheating being used as a plot twist and the fact the doctor was a lesbian was kinda… why. Like, I know the point of those two things. The doctor being a lesbian was just there in order to foreshadow something about how the priest sees her, which relates back to the cheating and how he is her real father. I don’t know how to explain it but there is something about “we are going to present a queer character purely for the sake of the development of this straight character” that makes unhappy. I don’t mind the fact that she dies in the end because literally everyone except for two kids are dying so it’s fair, but it’s the fact that they present this lesbian living closeted on a small community that WOULD have rejected her, made her feel rejected and have her entire value reduced to the daughter of a Fucking Useless Dad in the end just feels like… you presented that theme of religious homophobia and then did fucking nothing with it. Literally nothing. We had plenty of time for all those monologues about death and the foreshadowing of the death of Riley, for that we had no fucking rush, but for that issue, that still many works don’t dare to even touch? Nah, not a priority. Just the smallest of talks about being a thing and then forget about it, it’s all about Useless Dads and Nuclear Famiy up in here. It’s just a wasted opportunity and I feel cheated, because you could had a really touching moment to show the doctor realizing that she always had at least one place she could have gone and be accepted if she wanted to. But nah. -The big bad vampire was boring as hell and his actions made no fucking sense. Is he supposed to be smart at all? Or is he supposed to be just some wild animal that moves on instinct? How the fuck did he stayed however long on the ruins alone but still have the enough self control to NOT kill completely the priest so he could get out in the sun, but also just don’t fucking react when people are literally shooting him, drenching him on gasoline or stabbing his wings? How does he have the enough intelligence to tell the priest to keep quiet, to dress on the whatever religious clothng those were on the church and to bleed himself for the glass recipient, but then just forget about the fucking world when he is feeding off random ass people and not even killing them completely? The vampire wasn’t a character at all, he was just whatever the fuck the plot needed him to be at the time and that made him annoying and boring, not scary. -And you know, I don’t really like to bash any show, book or anything on the base that if they are scary or not because that is not the point of stories, not even horror stories or at least not all of them. Some horror stories can be just tragic or cathartic or fun and that is fine. Not all of them have to keep you awake at night and be considered bad if they don’t manage to do that, as long they are still are an engaging story that keeps you interested enough until the end. But this story didn’t do that. If your big baddie is already boring to me and he seems easy enough to harm or to kill, then all that there is left is to at least care for the characters to get out alive and I didn’t cared about that either because I have already seen all these characters in shows where I liked them even more than here. Everyone is just… kinda there. Maybe it’s me, or maybe it’s because this is shorter and had to move things faster (even though, again, we had plenty of time to show for the fourth time or whatever Riley being hunted) but after seeing the family drama on the Haunting of the Hill House and the interpersonal relationships on the other show whose name I can’t even remember, but it was about a haunting manor, this all feels very underdeveloped and underwhelming. The notes are there but they aren’t being hit enough or in a satisfactory enough way, and I don’t know why. That’s why the monologues feel kinda awkward because I am there watching this guy spill his entire life story to this other person who is not saying anything and thinking to myself “really? We couldn’t come up with any other way to talk about the past of this character so now we are doing just plain old infodumping?” -The “old people make up” was fucking awful. Like absolutely horrible. Who the fuck green lighted that. It was fucking obvious that the old lady and the old man were going to become young because why else would they put all that silicon on the face of clearly younger people? Why they couldn’t just hire older actors or at least older than them who looked alike to play on each stage? It’s not like we actually see them getting younger. Just have the older people do their job, maybe use a bit of make up to make them look younger to a certain point and then you use the younger actors that stay until the end. You clearly have the budget so why the fucking awful make up. -Related to that, I don’t know about the priest because we never actually see Old Priest talking and interacting with people, but I didn’t believed for one single second that the lady who played the Old Mom was a 80 something woman on the body of someone becoming younger. I don’t know if it was an issue with the lady herself or the script, but something felt goofy about it. -Riley was such a non interesting or engaging character for me. Like, at all. He is a general “good guy who made a mistake, don’t you feel bad for him”, and his whole story didn’t made any sense either in the end. Like, before the night he went to confront the priest, I didn’t get why the fuck that happened except because the plot said it needed to happen. Riley heard the priest said that the other drunk dude was going to visit his sister and he IMMEDIATELY call him a liar and demands answers. This guy jumped to that conclusion so fucking fast because the plot needed him to move fast and I find it so ridiculous. Like, yeah, he had already seen that something was going on with the priest and the island since he came, something didn’t felt right, but why is that the point where he decides is too much? If I hear someone saying “I am going to visit my mom” and I find out that their mom is actually dead I don’t think that person was lying, I think that person must have meant visiting the place where their mom is buried because that is exactly what I have heard other people say before. So for Riley to immediately think something is up when he could have easily thought the priest meant that Joe went to visit his sister’s grave, to make amends, some kind of closure or whatever, and calling him a liar it just felt forced. When he got attacked by the big vampire all I could think of was “well, he was an atheist character on a american show about religion, obviously he wasn’t going to survive” and when he died for real I was “well, that is done now.” Like, I didn’t give a fuck about him by the end. -It bothers me that nobody as much mentions the word vampire. Like I can get the priest and the Karen that helps him out straight up not knowing shit about vampires because they never watched tv or are tech savy on any sort of way to even hear the stories, but what is the excuse for literally everyone else? For Ali, a teenager that surely was fucking alive when Twilight was a thing and still living on an actual city? “Hey, that is no fucking angel, that is a vampire” was something I was waiting for fucking ever for anyone to say, even if they are immediately disregarded, and then nothing. And it’s not lke they invent some weird name for him like they do on the zombie movies where they call them anything but zombies. It’s just angel or “thing” and that is it, like why, literally what was the point of being all “ooh we don’t know what he is oooh” when the audience would have known already. Or they thought because the audience would immediately know what is up there was no point into saying it? Because that doesn’t make it any better, it just makes it even more frustrating and it had me baffled for the longest time becuse I kept wondering what time period was even this where no one heard of vampires. -Too many monologues. And the final one where Erin is slowly dying literally made me roll my eyes because it was the same thing as seen on other shows, but somehow even more pretentious, goes a bit too long and doesn’t really connect with anything, it just happens and then it ends. I feel like someone took themselves a little too seriously for that one. What I did liked: -I am not muslim, I am not intimate familiar with muslim representation beyond “stop treating them as terrorist”, so I can’t really know for sure how accurate or fair is the portrayal of the muslim Sheriff on the show. But I can say for sure I do appreciate that, even if it turned out to not be perfect, there was a legitimate attempt to show another faith just as valid and important as cristianity, another religion that meant something good and positive for characters that we are meant and succesfully empathatize with. Every time the Sheriff talked about his faith and what it meant for his family I was fully entranced by that. He was my favourite character in the entire show and I was so pissed off by the way people, especially fucking Karen, kept treating him and his concerns. At some point I was pissed at Erin too because she saw Karen was going too far and being an asshole, but she didn’t said shit until much later and didn’t helped when the Sheriff HAD to defend his religion on a room where he knew was the minority. Like, I even feel like the show kinda dropped the ball there because by the end of that horrible scene we are meant to empathatize with ERIN and not with the Sheriff, who had to keep dealing with his son being openly indoctrinated by a racist dick. -Having said that, I also understand where Ali comes from because sure, he lost his mom, any contact with any previous friends or whatever he had before going to the middle of fucking nowhere to an island where they never even heard of Twilight, so of course he wants to fit in, of course he is going to search for community and acceptance outside of what his father taught him. I did really loved how in the end he praises alongside his father after realizing the church was full of shit. -The actor who played the priest was top notch. He did an excelent job as a cultist leader who knows what to say to get people fired up, emotional and less critical, as a man who is nice enough to offer comunion to an old lady that couldn’t go to church and who actually wanted to help an ex convict like Riley. Like, even if he had his ulterior motives all along, I could totally believe him when he did all of that and also keep that air of mistery where you weren’t really sure what was he thinking. If I kept watching the show until the end it was in big part thanks to him and the Sheriff, because I loved the way he was just a selfish man but not an evil one, someone who truly thought he was doing some good until he wasn’t. -The way they play with the sound was really cool. There were two particular moments I fucking loved. One  is when Riley diez and you can still hear Erin losng her entire shit even as the credit rolls, like, fuck Riley, but that is some eerie, cool way to let him go. And the second one, that I loved even more, was when the survivors were singing in the island and it all went dead fucking silent the moment the sun came out. Not even a scream, not even a plea. We just went from a moment that seemed straight from the ending of Grinch, with the entire town uniting after realizing what is important, and then nothing but silence. That gave me legit chills. -The lady who played the Karen, whose name is not really Karen but fuck it, is a Karen, she was… like frighteningly good as a Karen. It did felt like by the end she was kinda of a caricature because she never hesitated for shit, she never stopped to think on anything, and maybe that was kind of the point, but to me it felt less like she was becoming unhinged and more like, again, the plot needs to move on so we don’t have time to deal with normal human reactions from Karen. She was still a solid dick and I fucking cheered when she finally died and when she was told she wasn’t a good person. -The effect for the eyes was cool and I was surprised for how well they kept using it every single time. Maybe they couldn’t hire older actors because they spend all the budget on the eyes and the scenes with the flying boring vampire, who knows. However, after all these points, would I recommend this show to someone? If you already saw the other shows, not really, because there is not much of a difference that justifies going out of your way for it unless you just want to put something horror related this Halloween. If you just want that, something spooky top ut on and don’t think too hard about it, then yeah, absolutely, go for it. Like I said, there are some good moments there and even though I didn’t enjoyed it all I wouldn’t called it a complete waste of time either. But I still prefer the other shows, especially Haunting on the Hill house. That is still my favourite one. I know nothing about jojo. Teach me it out of context
part 1 phantom blood. um jonathan (British) has some personal problems with his adopted brother dio brando (also british) and then dio kills their dad and becomes a vampire. jonathan gets shounen powers and a guy survives for like fifteen minutes after being cut in half. dio gets decapitated so jonathan went and got married but then dios decapitated head appeared on the boat and was like jonathan i respect you so i want to use your decapitated body as my own. and jonathan was like dude thats kind of fucked up but the boat blew up and dio did it anyway. erina survived though
im putting these under a cut cause it got long as fuck but heres your jojo summaries
part 2 battle tendency is like. joseph who is jonathans thotty grandson teams up with caesar zeppeli (italian) (gay) to defeat the pillar men which include kars (milf) esidisi (milfs live in boyfriend) wamuu (adopted son). another milf called lisa lisa trains them into their shounen powers and then esidisi shows up and kills the teachers aides and possesses lisa lisas assistant and then dies. basically they all get into this arena deathmatch involving zombie horses and kars grows wings and runs around all sexy for a little bit before getting launched into space. caesar gets crushed by a stone cross after making a gay ass speech. love loses. also it turns out lisa lisa was josephs mom the whole time.
part 3 stardust crusaders i kind of hate but i love the characters so basically jotaro kujo (josephs grandson) um he gets his stand and hes like whats this evil spirit i have to be locked in prison for everyones protection. and then his mom gets a stand too but sike women arent people so shes going to die. this is of course dios fault and they have to kill dio. kakyoin tries to kill jotaro and then jotaro pulls the worm out of his head and theyre best friends after that. polnareff tries to kill avdol and avdol sets him on fire and theyre [redacted] after that. they all go on a wacky roadtrip to cairo to kill dio during which kakyoin feeds a baby its own shit and avdol fakes his death for a little over a week. killing dio doesnt go great and vanilla ice sucks avdol into the void and kills their dog iggy and i hate watching that part. kakyoin is crushed under the weight of his own hubris. dio thinks hes sexy for being able to stop time but jotaro can also stop time and he kills dio. jotaros very traumatized due to the entire experience. for some reason both polnareff and joseph survive. the end
part 4 diamond is unbreakable is basically josuke higashikata whos josephs kid out of wedlock hunting down a serial killer with a hand fetish. jotaro is there hes a marine biologist now and josuke is technically his uncle. theres also josukes best friend okuyasu theyre a lil gay but thats alright we like them. also got short king koichi and yukako. and evil twink mangaka rohan. its like murder mystery except a lil more fucked up cause its jojo. ultimately kira (murderer with hand fetish) gets his ultimate powers that manipulate time and space but it doesnt even matter cause josuke has protagonist disease okuyasu dies for like 10 mins but he gets better. kira gets punched into the street by jotaro and then an ambulance runs him over and he dies.
part 5 vento aureo is giorno giovanna whos dios kid but hes also jonathans kid bc dio fucked with jonathans body and thats how giorno was born. he kind of acts like dio if dio had jonathans moral code and hes blond. anyway hes 15 and he joins the mafia because he wants to end heroin abuse and he ends up getting god timespace manipulation powers and killing the boss diavolo but half of his friends are killed horribly so that sucks. and then he becomes the don of the italian mafia. and hes still 15. also polnareff is there for a minute he gets killed sort of but his ghost possesses a turtle so hes giornos turtle after that i guess.
part 6 stone ocean my favorite part cause theres finally lesbianism. jolyne who is jotaros daughter is in prison bc she got framed for murder by her boyfriend. jotaros been an absent father due to him having personal problems. he shows up to break her out of prison but he gets his soul and his stand turned into discs and pulled out of his head and he goes into a coma and most of the rest is jolyne trying to get the discs back. she has 2 girlfriends called hermes and foo fighters who is technically a mass of sentient plankton. weather report (sexy) and anasui (ugly) are also there. the main antagonist is pucci who is a priest and was also dios best friend when he (pucci) was 16 for some reason. by the end they get jotaros discs back and pucci successfully starts manipulating reality itself and it turns out weather report was his brother all along and their backstory is REALLY fucked up and then jotaro comes back and anasui is like jotaro can i marry your daughter and hes like no and then everyone gets killed and pucci resets the universe but emporio the ten year old theyve been hanging out with gets weather reports stand and uses it to follow pucci through the universe resets and he ends up creating one where pucci never existed. it ends with “irene” kujo meeting hermes and anasui/weather report are also there. its implied that this is a new universe where none of the bad shit ever happened. emporio is crying. it kind of sucks
part 7 steel ball run i really dont know how to summarize but basically johnny joestar whos like alt universe jonathan but actually not really like that at all. hes also paralyzed from the waist down and he wishes he wasnt. um he meets an italian (gyro zeppeli) and they go on a horse race across america to track down the body of christ. they meet diego brando whos like dio but hes more about class warfare than megalomania and hot pants who has a stand that lets her turn her flesh into spray. diegos stand is that he can turn himself and other living things into dinosaurs. johnny can shoot his fingernails like bullets. anyway they end up fighting the president of the united states (funny valentine) who was trying to turn lucy steele whos only like 14 into a vessel for the corpse of jesus or something and he kills gyro and hotpants and diego and johnnys like this sucks but sends him into an infinite death loop bc hes a dimension hopper but he just keeps dying over and over again in any dimension he goes into. and he deserved it
part 8 jojolion i havent read but gappy seems like a nice guy

BEST OF THE BI-MONTH
The Wonder by Emma Donoghue (2016): Lib Wright, an English nurse who worked with Florence Nightingale in the Crimean War, is hired to observe Anna O’Donnell, an eleven-year-old Irish girl who claims to have not eaten for four months. Initially exasperated at the everyone’s credulity, Lib gradually realizes that there’s a lot more going on with Anna, her family, and her village than she thought...and that the girl may be in serious danger if she doesn’t intervene. Despite my love of Donoghue’s work, I put off reading this one for a while because the subject looked so grim. Although Donoghue does deal with difficult material, the growing relationship between prickly Lib and bright-but-haunted Anna makes the novel transcendent.
WORST OF THE BI-MONTH
Between a Highlander and Hard Place by Mary Wine (2018): After her highborn suitor shows his true colors, Athena Trappes sets fire to his house in self-defense and flees to Scotland. There she attracts the attention of Symon, Laird Grant, a melancholy widower. This Elizabethan romance has its moments, notably a lovely meet-cute at a May Day celebration, but it’s mostly dull with some irritating tropes.
REST OF THE BI-MONTH
Vampires in the Lemon Grove by Karen Russell (2013): In this collection, Russell tells the stories of various oddities, including women who turn into silkworms, presidents who are reincarnated as horses, and, yes, vampires in the lemon grove. The collection is remarkably consistent, and Russell shows enormous range in it. My favorites are the utterly chilling prairie horror of “Proving Up,” the hilariously absurd “The Barn at the End of the Term,” and the heartbreaking “The Graveless Doll of Eric Mutis.”
A Prince on Paper by Alyssa Cole (2019): Nya Jerami has existed under a cloud of suspicion and gossip since her abusive father, an adviser to the king of Thesolo, was sent to prison for poisoning his political rivals. Eager to start her life properly but unsure how, Nya finds unexpected help from Johan van Braustein, the seemingly devil-may-care stepson of the king of a European micronation. This is my favorite contemporary romance I’ve ever read, with two dynamic, endearing protagonists and a strong sense of setting. Cole expertly blends realistic modern-day concerns with frothy wish fulfillment (plus a dash of fairy-tale Gothic).
The End of Everything by Megan Abbott (2011): When her best friend Evie disappears, thirteen-year-old Lizzie only has scanty clues regarding where or why. As she becomes more and more consumed with finding the answer, she discovers dark secrets underlying her seemingly placid 1980′s suburb. Of all the Abbott novels I’ve read, this is the simplest and perhaps the most disturbing. I didn’t love it, but it’s very effective.
Patience and Sarah by Isabel Miller (1969): In 1810′s Connecticut, educated “spinster” Patience White finds herself intrigued by sweet, rough-hewn Sarah Dowling. Although their families contrive to keep them apart, they eventually make it to New York and start a farm together. Of the five f/f romance novels I’ve read, this is my very favorite. Miller captures the feel of early American literature very well, and the romance has a nice balance of tension and sweetness.
Touchy Subjects by Emma Donoghue (2006): This collection of short stories is, naturally enough, organized around “touchy subjects” like babies, domesticity, strangers, desire, and death. There are some jewels in this collection: the sad/funny “WritOr” (about a struggling author who takes on a resident-writer position at a rural college), the bittersweet “The Welcome” (about a naive young lesbian with a crush on a reserved trans woman), and the strangely uplifting “Enchantment” (about a rivalry between Cajun fishermen). There’s a lot of chaff to separate from the wheat, though; many of the stories are very slight.
Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli (2015): Simon Spier, an upper-middle-class teen in suburban Atlanta, isn’t 100% sure why he hasn’t come out as gay to his liberal family or friends, but for now he prefers to keep his sexuality (and a flirtatious email correspondence with an anonymous boy called Blue) under wraps. When a classmate finds out the truth and blackmails Simon into setting him up with his friend Abby, that task becomes a lot more complicated. Despite the rather disturbing premise, this is a super-cute YA novel that I would have loved when I was a YA. (At twenty-eight, I still liked it a lot; it’s just got a sense of immediacy that was a little lost on me thanks to my relatively advanced age, but would’ve been very appealing to me at sixteen.)
Can’t Escape Love by Alyssa Cole (2019): Regina Hobbs, highly successful proprietor of a website about nerdy stuff, has it all together, except she’s suffering from a wicked case of insomnia. She’s convinced that only the voice of Gustave Nguyen, a puzzle designer she got to know after tuning into his livestream, can get her to sleep, so she contacts him to see if she can have a recording of his voice. Even though they both think it’s kind of weird, her request gets them talking...and MORE. This is a short but absolutely delightful novella about two neat people hooking up. The stakes are low, but the tensions stemming from Regina’s family keeps things interesting.
Bury Me Deep by Megan Abbott (2009): In the depths of the Great Depression, Marion Seeley finds herself alone in Phoenix while her morphine-addict husband chases redemption in Mexico. Working an administrative job at a local hospital, she falls in with party-girl nurse Louise, her TB-afflicted girlfriend Ginny, and (much to her sorrow) corrupt, handsome Joe Lanigan. Abbott’s historical crime novel takes a little while to heat up, but once it does it’s a very satisfying thriller. However, I was never convinced of Joe’s attractiveness even at a surface level, which was kind of an impediment to enjoying the story because Marion sure is.
Fludd by Hilary Mantel (1989): A mysterious stranger comes to a deeply Catholic, determinedly miserable English village in the 1950′s, claiming to be the new curate. While there, he greatly affects the lives of an alcoholic priest, his prim housekeeper, an unhappy young nun, and a pompous bishop. This is a highly peculiar, often enjoyable fable, although it drags quite a bit in the third quarter.
The Rest of the Story by Sarah Dessen (2019): Emma, an anxious seventeen-year-old who lost her mom to addiction five years ago, ends up spending part of the summer with her seldom-seen maternal relatives, who own a downscale motel in a lake town. While there, she learns about her mother’s secret history, observes the tensions between her family’s working-class community and the upscale resort people across the lake, has a low-key romance with a childhood friend, and practices her driving. This novel isn’t among Sarah Dessen’s best--the ending is a little rushed, and the romance feels perfunctory--but the setting is cool and Emma is an interesting protagonist.
Someone to Honor by Mary Balogh (2019): Years after her dad’s bigamy was revealed, resulting in her de-legitimization, reserved Abigail Westcott shows no interest in trying to re-enter society, instead opting to hang out with her convalescing Napoleonic War veteran brother. Unfortunately, his surly friend, Lieutenant Gilbert Bennington, is also intent on keeping her brother company to avoid his own problems, and he and Abigail don’t exactly get along. They come to understand each other, though, and decide to take a chance on marriage when Gilbert finds himself in trouble. I found this Regency romance to be solid but overly somber (not an infrequent issue with Balogh). I never got a great sense of who Abigail was and, while I sympathized with Gil, I also found him very irritating at times.
The Scandalous Secret of Abigail MacGregor by Paula Quinn (2015): In the late 1700′s, Queen Anne summons Davina MacGregor, secret eldest daughter of James II (and, were she not Catholic, rightful ruler of Great Britain), to court. Because Davina is sickly, her daughter Abigail, who has ambitions of being clan chieftain, goes to court in her place. She’s accompanied by Captain General Daniel Marlow, a Jacobite-hating English soldier and close friend of Anne’s. He’s got some trust issues and a stalker. This romance had a lot of potential, but too much of it is spent on the road and not enough on juicy court drama. The straight-version-of-Rachel-Weisz’s-character-in-The-Favorite villain was also, unfortunately, usurped by her much more boring lover.

How Me and my friend would change Twilight
Here’s how Me and my friend @aspiecrow would change Twilight.
The short version. Make Charlie, Bella, Alice, Rosalie Jacob and Leah the protagonists, make the Cullen family pure evil and the villains and have the romance be between Bella and Alice.
Basic Plot: Charlie Swan is excited that his daughter Bella has arrived in the small town of Forks, Washington to live with him. However, almost as soon as she arrives and settles in, Charlie begins to notice that Bella has become unhealthily obsessed with a boy in her school, and that something isn't quite right about the whole situation. It is then that his best friend takes him aside and turns his entire world upside down.
Finding out that his best friend Billy is part of a shapeshifter tribe that has an uneasy truce with a clan of undead creatures who live in the town (the head of which is the town doctor who Charlie has trusted for years), and now it looks like the truce will be coming to an end, as the clan are grooming Charlie's daughter to become their newest member.
Rather than being a cop, Charlie is the Fire Chief in the Forks Fire Department.
Now it’s important to know that in our version.....The vampires don't sparkle. The Cullens are not vegetarians, they are blood thirsty monsters. It’s only Alice and Rosalie who are vegan vampires.
Vampires in this version, their skin becomes vulnerable to objects that are blessed by the Church's priests or Shapeshifter Shamen’s magic.
Forks, Washington actually looks like it does in real life (if it doesn't work for the story, change it to another location).
The tribe that Jacob belongs to is explicitly called "shapeshifters", not werewolves. They also shapeshift into different animals, like black bears, cougars, and birds. It’s only Jacob and Billy who can shapeshift into a wolf. Leah shifts into a Cougar. Emily shifts into a Eagle and Sam shifts into Black Bear.
While imprinting doesn't exist, Sam and Emily are in an abusive relationship, with Sam acting like it's no big deal that he mutilated Emily. This is resolved when Leah and Emily team-up and kick Sam's ass, sending him packing.
Bella and Charlie actually have a great relationship. Bella is not emotionally distant or horrible to him.
Bella adores Jessica, Angela, Eric and Mike. She is never cold or distant to them and always lets her friends know about what’s going on after she breaks free from Edward’s thrawl.
Angela and Jessica belong to a Coven of Witches. The Cullens do not dare cross the Coven. Angela and Jessica are girlfriends.
Mike and Eric are just humans and Bella’s friends and Jessica and Angela’s beards.
Bella is more likable rather than the complete sociopath Meyer gave us
Bella only starts to act the way she does in Meyer's scribbling when Edward starts to groom her for either eating or Siring.
The Volturi remain exactly as they are in the movies because that's incredibly entertaining. and the only good part about them cause the overacting was a work of brilliance!
At the end of the first book Charlie, Alice, Rosalie, The Coven and the shifter tribe manages to save Bella and kill James and Esme. The rest of the Cullens flee as it has never happened for decades for a vampire to be killed, so they flee and go to see the Volturi.
Edward and James are best friends, partners in crime, they’ve feasted on many girls together throughout the years of their immortal lives. Together they were gonna drain Bella dry. But James would’ve been killed along with Esme.
For the next two books we have Charlie, Bella, Angela, Jessica, Rosalie and Alice become a kickass vampire hunting team. Eventually Jacob, Seth and Leah would’ve been recruited.
Jacob Black’s character remains as it did in Twilight and New Moon as he was horribly made out of character in the last two books. Jacob is Bella’s bestie.
Bella, and Alice are in love. While Rosalie and Leah get together in Eclipse.
The Cullens would team up with Victoria as they all seek revenge for Esme and James.
There will be a subplot about Bella, Alice, Rosalie and Leah trying to get Emily out of her abusive relationship with Sam.
Thanks to Charlie’s position in the Fire Department and his friendship with the Shapeshifter Clan, Charlie gets his axe and the water in the departments Firetrucks all blessed by the clan’s magic. Charlie now has the means to fight the Vampires.
In New Moon. What happens is Alice and Rosalie have to go into hiding to keep Bella safe as the Volturi have sent assassins. Bella still finds friendship in Jacob, but also  with Leah(this is Jacob being Leah's wingman) Bella would not be distant towards Jessica or Angela and would not seek thrills to hurt herself. But the big change is Victoria after she kills Harry, Charlie hunts her and wounds her with a blessed axe. Also instead of Bella cliff diving, Victoria throws Bella off a cliff and attempts to kill Bella. Alice had a mental breakdown and intends to go to the Volturi to do what Edward was attempting to do but she would've burst into flames and Rosalie brings Bella to save her. Alice tells Aro that she will turn Bella. Tensions are high when Bella, Alice and Rosalie return. Leah and Jacob. Alice and Rosalie tell them that they are not their family, they have been trying to leave the Cullens for a long time. So they come to a new peace treaty. Help them kill Victoria and The Cullen clan and there will be peace, but if Bella is turned, the treaty is over. Bella and Charlie return home and begin preparation into hunting down and killing the Cullens together as a family.
Eclipse. Riley would be genderbent because Victoria is a lesbian and James was her beard and abuser(if you look at her wiki it says James only saw her as a trophy and an asset). Moving on. The plan to use an army of Newborn Vampires would remain the same. Rosalie and Leah would begin a relationship to the shock of the tribe, Alice and Jacob. Absolutely no one keeps Bella in the dark. Alice tells Bella everything while they visit Renee. There is no love triangle. Angela and Jessica have cast a protection spell on Bella and Charlie. Jacob is trying to keep Bella safe and does not want her to be a casualty of a war if the treaty fails. It's basically a team up of Bella, Alice, Jacob, Angela, Jessica, Rosalie and Leah. Charlie’s Firefighting team using the blessed water easily wipes out the Newborn army. After the Newborn army have been destroyed. Everyone is surprised that only Victoria and Riley are there. The rest of the Cullens are nowhere to be found.  Given her advanced age, Rosalie easily kills Riley. While Victoria closes in on Bella, Angela, Jessica, Alice and Rosalie are drained from fighting Riley and the army, and Victoria shatters Jacob's collar bone. But to Victoria's surprise Bella and Charlie together manages to kill Victoria using everything they learned together and what Charlie taught Bella. They manage to save Jacob in time. Bella and Alice sleep peacefully as the threat for the moment is over. But Alice and Bella share a collective dream. Edward. He simply tells them “I’ll see you soon.” But.... that wasn’t all. They see Edward in the home of Renee and leaves you to assume the worst. End of Eclipse.
Breaking Dawn. It begins with Renee's funeral. Bella is both heartbroken and outraged. Edward has taken nearly everything from her, so now it's Bella's turn to hurt him and avenge Renee. Breaking Dawn signifies The Cullens' return and they cut a bloody path in Forks. Carlisle kills Billy while Jacob is forced to watch and helpless to do anything. Jasper and Emmett slaughter Sam's pack. Jacob, Leah and Seth are the only survivors. I wasn't kidding when I said The Cullens would be pure evil. This is their revenge for Esme and driving them out of Forks. They have been seeking the Volturi's permission for their revenge, they used Victoria and Riley as their pawns and when that failed. They have returned. To kill Bella, Charlie and her allies one by one. Edward kills Eric, and Mike to punish Bella sending her calling cards to let her know he was the one who killed them. Edward would never dare mess with the Witches, so he just hits them where it hurts by killing Mike and Eric. Edward wounds Charlie, but not kills him. Now it's time to strike back. The Coven will keep The Volturi at bay. To prepare Bella. Alice has no choice but to turn Bella. Her shield abilities as a vampire will come in handy against Edward's mind games. Jacob and Leah hunt and corner Jasper and rip him apart like a ragdoll. Rosalie visits Emmett. Rosalie kills him and shows no remorse and throws her ring into the fire with Emmett. Alice finally confronts Carlisle. Remembering everything he has made her done and everything he has done. Carlisle greets her as he always has. As his play thing and "child" and scolds her for her treachery. "you will all pay for what you did to your darling mother" Tells her what Edward intends to do to Bella. "my beautiful Edward intends to make your Bella suffer before he kills her" and they finally fight. Carlisle spats out every form of abuse at Alice, saying he should have left her to die in the asylum and Alice finally overcomes her fear and kills Carlisle. Alice kills her abusive father and she is finally free from her past. And to the finale. Bella, Charlie and Edward. Bella goes to the Cullen estate to kill Edward. Edward plays his mind games with Bella. Telling him all this death and destruction is her fault. All she had to do was die by his and James' hands and everything would've gone perfect but she ruined everything. Bella shuts everything out. It finally ends with Bella beating Edward and venting out her rage and frustrations on Edward and together with Charlie, they decapitate Edward, finally killing him. Bella's last words to Edward is "that was for my mother, you son of a bitch" Bella kills her abuser and finally the Cullen clan are killed for good. Breaking Dawn ends with Bella and Alice and Rosalie and Leah's weddings....and Aro marrying them off because that's how extra Aro is
Now onto The Cullen family.
Carlisle. Okay so we know that he and his father were priests. Now this is where everything changes, as a vampire Carlisle is an emotionally and mentally manipulative monster.  Carlisle used his position as priest as a mask and to hunt humans. Carlisle then kills his way to become a doctor as he thought that religion became boring and the long con is no longer fun to him and decided to evolve and has been feeding on Forks ever since. Carlisle only chooses to sire the absolute worst of human society as he feels he should only be in the presence of monsters such as himself.
Esme. As a human, she was a black widow in Forks.  She just so happened to be one in Carlisle's flock and he found out and it attracted him and decided to turn her and they were partners in blood ever since.
Edward is a complete and utter bastard. His past is rather than being a victim of the Spanish plague, he took part in the Spanish Inquisition torture as a human and as a vampire, he is on Angelus levels of awful. Rather than spending his immortality going to school for the rest of his life, there is an actual purpose for that. That is how he chooses his victims. He uses his charming good looks and charm as a lure for his victims, his victims as a trade mark being high school girls. When they are under his thrall, they are not themselves. They are distant, codependent on Edward, high and mighty, get them to push everyone away, so when he gets what he wants, nobody looks that deep when they disappear.  He is much like he is in actual continuity, only we are supposed to see how he treats Bella as horrible because it is. He stalks her, he is only attracted to her because of her smell and watches her sleep cause seeing his prey sleep is amusing to him. We are not supposed to think this is cute, we are meant to see the way he treats her and his victims as wrong and abusive. He lures them in, gets them under their thrall and when they push everyone away, he kills them, however, with Bella he thought differently, he wanted to turn her or he just wanted to slowly drain her until there was nothing left.
Rosalie was born into a wealthy family and lived through the great depression. The attention she got due to her upbringing made her self-absorbed, shallow, and materialistic. While her family wanted more, Rosalie was content of being Rosalie. Rosalie was in a loveless relationship and Rosalie was raped by her fiance and his drunk friends. Eventually Rosalie would kill them one by one and saving her fiance for last. Carlisle turns Rosalie just because he feels like he can manipulate her and turn her into a monster like the rest of the family. But Rosalie did not want to be like the rest of the Cullens. After avenging her rape and murder, she did not want to feed on a human being, Rosalie would choose to feed on animals instead and the only one she was close with was Alice. Alice was the only one she felt close to and eventually, Bella. Rosalie fell in love with Bella.  Rosalie knows all to well how manipulative and dangerous men are, especially from her family. So Rosalie would turn against her family with Alice and save Bella. The relationship between Bella and Rosalie is actually healthy and loving, by the end of the second book they become close friends and in the third book they stand together against Victoria and in the fourth and final book they stand united against The Cullen family.
Jasper was a Confederate soldier, only he would be as awful as the South, he was fighting for slavery and oppression and as a vampire he is so much worse, even taking part in the trail of tears which definitely gives Jacob’s family a reason to hate Jasper and The Cullens.  As a vampire, he viewed humans and shifters as beneath him and the rest of the vampires, so he would want to keep slaves to feed on.
Emmett was a Redcoat....who also happened to fight bears. Go big or go home right?
Alice along with Rosalie are the only good vampires in the Cullen clan, and becomes a turncoat to aid Charlie and she saves Bella. I’d keep her original backstory cause that is what works.  She has no memories of her past life, only the knowledge that she was once in a mental hospital. There is a grave with her name on it, with her “death” marked as the same year she was put in the sanitarium. Carlisle takes pity on the child and  manipulates her to giving her a place to belong and at some point she stopped hunting humans and only fed on animals or blood from the morgue. She grew to love Bella and finally found a way to get out and to save Bella with Rosalie, there is a lot of distrust, but eventually everyone joins forces at the end.  Bella, and Alice, Rosalie and Leah all marry They all love each other. Together they all fight The Cullens, and Victoria.

Best vampire movies? In asking for a friend...
Oh. Well, this is just my opinion and recommendations (and I know Cora made a list too) so…
Interview With the Vampire (1994) - Honestly a classic. Who doesn’t love Louis and brat prince Lestat and their love-hate relationship and attempts to keep their family with Claudia together over the passage of time? 100% recommend the books too to anyone who hasn’t read Anne Rice’s work.
Dracula Untold (2014) - A take on Vlad Teppes becoming Dracula. Looks amazing, has incredible acting and I assure you, you’ll cry. Give me a sequel already.
Fright Night (2011) -  Oooh controversial opinion time! Yes, I picked this over the original. It’s definitely less scary than the original but the comedic elements/general aesthetic of the movie more than make up for it. Also Collin Farrell as a vampire.
From Dusk Till Dawn (1996) -  Bank robbers and the family they’ve kidnapped end up in a club full of vampires and have to try to survive until day comes. Wasn’t a box office hit but has a cult following. There’s also now a tv series inspired by it that develops the characters and background witch I recommend too!
Blade Trilogy (1998-2004) - Based on the Marvel comics. It follows the titular Blade - a ‘daywalker’ - on his endless battle against vampires. The third film does have a lot of controversy surrounding it and it’s not as good as the other two but give it a watch if you like.
Only Lovers Left Alive (2014) - Probably the most human vampire film in existence. It’s emotionally powerful and deals with depression after centuries of existence. It’s a slow-burning movie and a beautiful tale.
Dracula (1931) - Honestly the movie we have to thank for vampires becoming such a pop culture staple. Bela Lugosi’s Dracula still continues to define the character and is responsible or the persistent ‘vampire accent’.
Let the Right One In (2008) - Follows a young boy and a vampiric little girl. Another one that’ll make you emotional. Watch the Swedish version over the American remake. Check the book out too!
What We Do in the Shadows (2014) - Mockumentary following vampire flatmates and various other supernatural beings. It’s basically about mundane life but… with vampires and it’s comedy gold.
Byzantium (2012) - Follows a mother/daughter vampire duo. No high class vampires here, our girls are portrayed by as the lowest rung by society’s standards. The movie is gorgeous and again, a more emotional take on vampires and the problems vampirism can bring.
The Addiction (1995) - This movie uses vampires to make social commentary. It deals with some heavy issues: AIDS for one, drug abuse for another. But it also explores new age religion and a generation rebelling from what they’ve known. It’s a pretty philosophical movie dealing with peoples’ fluctuating and shifting mindsets.
Dracula’s Daughter (1936) - Follows - you guessed it - Dracula’s daughter (The Dracula from the 1931 movie). This movie is astounding for its time because it’s a big ol’ lesbian fest and Marya’s quest to rid herself of her vampirism is symbolic of ‘curing’ gay/lesbian individuals.
Kiss of the Damned (2013) - A screenwriter falls in love with a woman who turns out to be a vampire and is turned by her. They survive by feeding on animals, and everything is going well until our leading lady’s vampiric sister shows up to cause chaos.
Hotel Transylvania (2012) - An animated movie in which Dracula owns a hotel where the monsters of the world stay, and is about to celebrate his daughter’s - Mavis  - birthday. Things go awry when human Jonathan shows up. Honestly, people dismiss animated movies far too much. This one is high-energy, funny and definitely enjoyable for adults as well as children.
Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992)  - Another take on the iconic novel. The movie is, honestly, hit-or-miss and at times over the top, but Gary Oldman as Dracula, Winona Ryder as Mina and Anthony Hopkins as Van Helsing are delights you can’t pass up on. Even if it’s kind of a wild ride with how OTT it is, it’s a fun one.
Thirst (2009) - A South Korean movie that follows a young priest. He tries to help with aid work during an epidemic but ends up infected himself. A blood transfusion saves his life but that blood was vampiric and thus he himself is now a vampire. You can imagine the deep moral and spiritual struggle this causes the devout man as he tries to keep a hold of his humanity.

Round 4 - Catholic Character Tournament

Propaganda below ⬇️
Paul
he's like if renfield from dracula was cool youth pastor.
Fuck this rat. I loved the ending though -- op
Jean
Everything he does is motivated by the grace shown to him by the bishop. I also like him. He’s a strong old man which white hair. Or Hugh Jackman, which is also a cool thing to be.
His whole conflict over the course of the show is do I follow God and be a good man or do I follow the law. He doesn’t like, break the law all the time, but he will if it’s to appease a higher mission i.e he’s wanted by the police but he evades arrest to save an orphan
There’s a lot of talk about god in Les Mis. In the musical, Valjean has plenty of songs where he’s praying or talking to God.

Nerissa Gladium/Medusa
Age: 18 (Nerissa) 898,765 (Medusa)
Race: Human/Demon
Gender: Female
Occupation: Former Order Huntress/Vice-Commander of The Order Reborn
Personality: Kind, friendly, quite quick to anger, seeks thrills, loves chocolates, really loves cute things like animals, quite gullible, gets angry should any harm come to Shay, she doesn’t seem to mind walking around naked as she seems clueless about it, she hates tentacles from her bad experiences, she is scared of lesbians (especially those in love with BDSM), she wears less clothing because she gets hot easily, her demon tail is sensitive and will arouse her if it gets touched
Skills/Power: Nerissa possesses the elemental power of her enemies she has slain within her Gauntlet, her Reaver Blade was once just a handle with no blade but adapts to the user, it took form from her touch and can transform into different blades from her elemental powers, Nerissa also knows the Devil Tongue which if she speaks in her mother tongue she can cause destruction around her, Nerissa is super-strong even without her Gauntlet, capable of lifting Demons the size of houses and carrying a building size blade to attack back at it’s Master, Nerissa also possesses he Demon form which is actually her true self when she was Medusa before Bheriya’s attack, in this mode, her power is increased and she uses her arm-blades and claws to attack, she also gets very aroused in this mode while becoming stronger from her arousal and pain, she is also able to regenerate rapidly from her wounds/Nerissa is gifted in the ways of the sword as she has seen game and movies copying how they fight, she also carries a gun she made known as the Diabolus to fire with explosive shot, though she is not very good at shooting from range but close up work to her advantage, physically Nerissa can take on any attack while her fitness makes her extremely agile thanks to her training and exercise, capable it moving in high speed while flexibly dodging her enemy attacks, Nerissa’s Gauntlet is super strong and if she impales her enemies with it, she can make them explode with and wipe them out of existence, she also possesses other firearms such as a 4 barrel shotgun known as the Deity Smacker, a cutting tool that works like an assault rifle known as the Shredder Rifle and an Armor that possesses a Hand-Blaster on her left hand
Weapons/Tools: Her Reaver Blade which possesses different elemental forms, her Diabolus Handgun which fires powerful shots, her shotgun the Deity Smacker which fires hellish shells that causes great damage up close, her assault rifle the Shredder Rifle that fires bladed shots rapidly cutting through it’s target, her Armor with a Hand-Blaster that fires an electrified paralyzing shot and her Gauntlet the Devil’s Grip which is another lost Reaper Tool she came across as Medusa that ended up fusing with her hand
Backstory:
Medusa is the daughter of Lucifer the Devil and is the sister of her twin Lilith whom she shares sexual pleasure with and causes destruction with, they have killed many Angels and humans possessing great power from their Father and Mother, 1 day Medusa came across the Devil’s Grip, 1 of the lost Reaper Tools of the Fallen Grim Reapers, being super strong and capable and killing an enemy in 1 shot if impaled with it while also wiping them out of existence with their souls destroyed, it can also kill Gods and Immortal beings, with this weapon, Medusa caused so much destruction with her sister, they even killed the 2 Holy Knights Isaac and Miriam Gladium whom were the Order’s strongest, even killing the Order’s Elites, the Silver-Maidens before they disbanded, because of their unstoppable power, the Order had to hire a Mercenary form Smokes Enterprise much to their dismay, the Mercenary that was hired was a Wolfman known as Bheriya Smokes
When meeting the Wolf, Medusa and Lilith laugh seeing a Wolfman face them even thought their race is weak and helpless, however when they see him smirk confidently at them they face him head on, they then realize he is no ordinary Wolfman and takes them down, enraged Medusa strikes him while he is off guard and impales him with her Gauntlet, but is surprised that he is not in pain or fading out of existence, it turns out he can take on any punishment acting like it’s nothing most of the time but he also possesses a Lost Reaper Tool of his own, the Godkiller, a firearm made to fire bullets that were made to burst souls, like every Reaper Tool they will kill you with 1 hit of their special attack, but will not work if the enemy themselves possessed their own Reaper Tool, they will still receive damage but will not be killed in 1 attack, shocked by this, Medusa tries to kill him, only to get fired through her Gauntlet to her head from Bheriya with the Godkiller, making her fall in the Dark Forest, her Gauntlet then fuses with her arm from the damages and heals her causing her to look human, she also suffers from Amnesia and has no idea who she is or why she ended up there
Lost, injured and naked, Medusa walks through the Dark Forest as the Feral Demons start to smell her and stalk her, but before they can do anything to her, they were scared off by a trainee Holy Alchemist, Shay Gladium whom takes her in his home and helps her, she tries to remember who she is and how she was in the Dark Forest with her Gauntlet she doesn’t know anything about, but seeing this id difficult for her, Shay says she may take her time and lets her use his shower and eat food, unfortunately the girl is clueless to shame  and walks around naked sometimes making Shay fluster and panic, he then seeks to buy her clothes in the store, she takes a liking to a purple trench-coat that had the brand name “NERISSA” on it but it was very expensive, but before a decision with made, a “Class A” Feral Demon breaks in attacking and Shay tries fighting it off but is too weak, when injured Nerissa becomes enraged and fights the beast herself head on using her strength, she tears it’s heart out and goes on her knees covered in blood scarred at what had happen, Shay heals and goes to comfort her with her favourite coat accidentally calling her Nerissa, at first was confused but liked the name which made her happy, after that Medusa became Nerissa
Over the years with Shay she has been watching movies and playing games he got for her that has greatly made her a thrill-seeker, she also starts falling for Shay and assists him in fighting many Demons, overtime she has made her own weapons, her Reaver Blade was made from a Demon Lord’s remains that she killed and collected, it adapts to her and takes form, she also made her own gun which looks similar to a nerf gun but fires explosive shots, the Diabolus, she has trained and exercised her body to be strong and agile, gaining a six pack from it, Nerissa was not an official member of the Order but greatly helps them in their fight against Hell, during Shay’s promotion to Captain, he proposed to her which she happily accepted, now engaged they promised to keep each other safe no matter what
1 day during their mission, they were tasked to protect a priest from Serin, Father Reinhardt whom has had a hard time with the City’s vigilante the Dark One, sadly the mission was a failure when the Wolf appeared and assassinated him while killing the troops, Shay tried fighting back but was overpowered, this angers Nerissa and she strokes the Wolf, they both then proceed to battle each other with Nerissa now hating Wolfmens, they both fight evenly until Bheriya tricks her and pins her on the ground teasing her, she is angry but gets disgusted when he licks her face, thus creates a grudge between them before Shay blasts him away, Nerissa who now feels violated and wants to kill Bheriya for harming Shay gets the chance from Commander Liam, who says that now she is a Hunter for the Order and must track down the Wolf as she was the only 1 able to actually take him on, though this worries Shay
But the city is then overrun by Feral Demons that attack the innocent, which Nerissa and Shay fend off, Nerissa then heads off to the source while Shay is still fighting the Hordes on his own, she comes across the Demon Lord Eques Ignis, a flaming gigantic Dragon with burning armour that is as big as an airplane & carries a huge sword with it’s tail, though Ignis was powerful, in the end Nerissa defeats him and kills him with his own sword beheading him, her arm then absorbs his soul and gains a new power of burning flames which makes the Reaver Blade take on a fiery form that turns Nerissa’s enemies to cinder when she strikes them while able to throw explosive fireballs with her Gauntlet and do a flaming explosive punch, after that Shay calls Nerissa on her phone he gave her, she reports back saying she’s killed the Demon Lord leading hordes
They proceed to the Castle of former owner Vlad Tepes the King of Vampire, where rumours have it that Bheriya may be there, in the snowy mountains, Shay gives Nerissa a new shotgun as a present and way to fend off threats, they are later attacked by Demon Yetis and fend them off but they all scared away by new skilled Elite of the Order, Kurai Angelica whom takes a liking to Nerissa fondles her body with Shay pulling her off, this makes Nerissa dislike her, after Kurai leaves, Nerissa proceeds to the Castle on her own to scout, it turns out the Castle is overrun with Demons that do not seem natural and look like they were made, nevertheless, Nerissa proceeds forward and slays the many beasts that come after her,
She discovers odd mechanisms and finds an arena where Vlad use to make his victims fight to the death for their freedom, there she finds another Demon Lord, a female Ice Demon, Frigus Mortis whom attacks Nerissa thinking she is another who seeks Vlad’s place, after their intense battle, Nerissa defeats Frigus and impales her on her on ice spike she summoned, it is then revealed that she is Vlad’s former wife Yami Tepes, whom died from Hunters that tried killing Vlad, she says she became a Demon to prevent those from taking over her lover’s Castle, understanding her pain, Nerissa tells her that she has nothing to worry about and that she’ll make sure no one will, with that said, Yami gives Nerissa her soul before passing, with Yami’s soul, Nerissa’s gauntlet takes on an Icey form along with her blade that can now form icy objects depending on her strikes and combos while also freezing the enemy if she stabs them, she can stab the ground and form ice spikes and her arm can form an indestructible shield that freezes any attackers and deflects projectiles
After that Nerissa proceeds on in the Castle and finds a secret lab under the arena which she infiltrates, she then comes across some Angelic Knights, wondering why they are here, they respond saying to prevent intruder from entering as they proceed to attack her with their futuristic weapons like Laser-Swords, Energy Rifles and Shields, Nerissa takes them down and sees the Order’s symbol on them, which makes her suspect something especially that they were actually Demons in powerful armour, she keeps moving and comes across a rapid cutting tool that fire like an assault rifle, she then gets attacked by a big gigantic mutated worm which blocks her path to more down in the lab, she defeats the worm by shredding it to pieces after freezing it with her new Shredder Rifle while falling deeper into the lab
She then heads on deeper and finds more Demon Hordes to fight, finding an odd mechanism that she must figure out then solves it proceeding on, Nerissa then comes across the Twin brother and sister in charge of the lab Angor and Poena whom have collected Demon and Angel DNA for years, creating abominations and guardians while abducting people to use this on, disgusted by this, Nerissa takes on the Twins who turn out to be fused with Demon and Angel blood, they are both powerful and fast which made the fight difficult for Nerissa, eventually she does wound the brother Angor with his blood splattered on her, but this was a trick as his blood greatly weakens her and intoxicates her which starts making her dizzy while all the hits they give her arouses her, they then knock her out and take her into their testing room
Stripped bare-naked while her arms were chained up and legs chained to the wall spreading her legs, Poena drugged her with a substance able to nullify her power and strength, they also smashed her phone so she won’t be tracked and confiscated her weapons leaving her helpless and weak, Poena then proceeds to fondle and molest her body, admiring her beauty and strength, Nerissa disgusted by this looks away, but Angor injects a drug into her nipple painfully that makes her body feel so much heat, but also pleasure, a drug made to break the mind with pain and pleasure, Poena proceeds torture Nerissa with her claws, slashing her sensitive exposed body while Angor records it, they take interest in her gauntlet and want to research on it more, happy with their new test subject, they then got their experimental tentacle demon to violate her which she could not fight back being trapped and all, Nerissa was tortured for what felt like hour but was only an hour, she had deep cuts on her body and was constantly drugged with more aphrodisiac to make her body feel more pain and pleasure, Poena and Angor laugh enjoying her pain and sounds she is making, especially when Poena is molesting and violating her for killing their pet worm and Demon experiment while also harming Angor, then the Castle detected Shay entering and Poena requested that he should be caught to not recognizing him from his hood
Poena then leaves her Experimental Demons to defile the weak and helpless Nerissa while they focus in capturing Shay, seeing the monitors, Nerissa instantly recognises Shay and does not want them to catch him, thus triggering her Demon form which makes her turn back to Medusa breaking out and killing all the Demons, Poena and Angor fight her but she gets stronger from her sexual desires and pain that it makes her aroused and laugh at them with her echoed voice, she brutally injures them both with them barely escaping her and the lab, Medusa is happy that she is back and wants vengeance, but sensing Shay’s presence, she unexpectedly turns back to Nerissa, with Shay finding her bloodied but no wounds on her, he asks her what happened, but she does not remember, they then head back to HQ where Nerissa receives medical attention after that traumatic experience, but still wants to find Bheriya and defeat him
After her recovery, she was ordered to head to the Suicide Jungle, hearing that Bheriya may be there, wearing a new gear, Nerissa heads for the helicopter to there but Shay cannot accompany again, she leaps out and lands in the Jungle searching the area while fighting dangerous Feral Demons along with avoiding the fruits from the trees that tempts people to commit suicide if they sniff or taste it, during her exploration there she eventually finds Bheriya and chases after him but then loses him and encounters a Demon Lord, the King of the Jungle, Bestia Rex, a big hulking beast big as a house with a muscular body, a Lion’s head and bladed tentacles on his back, his right hand were a pair of razor sharp scissor-like claws and he held an energy sword over his shoulder, even with his size he is very agile combined with his weapons he was more dangerous than the other 2 Demon Lords Nerissa has fought, the fight was long but Nerissa was victorious and tears through Rex’s stomach, he greatly admires her strength and power, finding her as a worthy opponent and then gives his blessings and soul to her with honour before passing, Nerissa then gains the power of the Beast King, which makes her Gauntlet metallic and cyborg like while possessing 2 blades like Rex which she can dash and impale with while controlling the Earth and plants, her blade has also taken a change in form, becoming more machine like with a blade formed by energy of the air, it is the most damaging out of the modes but also the slowest
Nerissa then proceeds in finding Bheriya, after a long search, she finds him waiting by an entrance, seeing her opportunity she strikes him but he dashes and dodges, finally getting sick of chasing him, she taunts him to fight her, which he reluctantly said “ok” before pulling both his Hookswords out from his back and fights her, Nerissa then tries using her Demon mode to defeat him, but he overpowers her and reveals that he was holding back because he found her attractive and does not like harming sexy women as he is a ladies man, Nerissa finds him an unusual Wolfman as they are commonly weak and enslaved, but Bheriya is the complete opposite, he then reveal that he is a Demigod, a son of the Wolf Deity, Rougarou and then opens a door revealing the Order’s secret in creating a weapon to take over the world with as the New Gods by Demon and Angel blood fused with the innocence they abducted
Bheriya says “I’m not the good guy so this does not concern me, I’m here for the payment, what are you here for?” Nerissa looks down confused, she thought she was protecting people, not nurturing them so they can be turned into monsters, they are then attacked by the powerful experiments, but Nerissa was weakened from her fight with Bheriya that she could not take them all, luckily Bheriya can’t stand seeing a helpless woman, so he butchers the creatures for her before she passes out from 1 of them throwing a pod at her
Afterwards Nerissa finds herself in some sort of shop, that smells like smoke and something died, she then sees that she is trapped on a bed with a Vampire girl fondle her helpless breasts, panicking, she tries to scream but finds that she is gagged with the Vampire girl saying “Sssshhhh, don’t worry sweetie, you’ll love every minute of this” before almost having a taste from her nipple, fortunately for Nerissa, Bheriya walks in shouting at the Vampire saying he trusted her to take care of Nerissa, not rape her with her responding she is taking good care of her, regardless Bheriya frees Nerissa and takes her to his Boss’s office whom belongs to Muetre Smokes, an old retired Reaper now turned Supernatural Mercenary of Smokes Enterprise, Muetre reveals the Order’s true intentions which Nerissa has a hard time believing
So Muetre says “Why don’t you ask your fiancée Miss Nerissa?” Which she went quiet from, which the Vampire girl walks in and tells that the Order’s Archangel Dolor has been seeking to be the New God with the help of the Devil Lucifer whom he has been working and aiding since the beginning of the Order, she reveals to be the undercover agent, Kurai Angelica a.k.a Kurai Smokes, she is really a Vampire taken human form to trick the Order and entered their inner circle, now she has all their secrets, now that Nerissa knows everything, she is disgusted and wants to join the Smokes in their mission to stop the Order, rebelling against them, although she knows they are doing it for the payment, she trusts them now
Nerissa needed a new gear to try on and new weapons, the Enterprise’s mysterious weapons and vehicle engineer Gus Gasolina created a futuristic armour for Nerissa to wear with a Gauntlet on her left arm that fires plasma shot that burns, electrifies and paralyzes it’s targets, Nerissa’s other weapons can also teleport to her hands now instead of having to sheathe it in it’s magical storage, Nerissa then heads back to the order’s fortress alone but not before getting kissed in the lips by Bheriya and gaining his power in her Gauntlet, now she has to have an electrified mutant wolf arm that fires electricity and can stretch far clawing anything it hits while also able to enlarge itself to a gigantic size to smash the enemies, the Reaver Blade take on a darker form and is able to duplicate as many times as Nerissa wants much like Bheriya’s Hookswords which he duplicates too
At the front entrance Nerissa is greeted by the Holy Knights guarding the door, she wants to speak to Shay but they refuse her, calling her a traitor and tells her to surrender herself or die, she chooses neither and wants to see Shay, so she fights the Holy Knights and Experimental Demons, fighting through many hordes of them, Nerissa faces the Twins again, whom she takes down without her Demon form, but then she is greeted by Lilith who calls her by her real name Medusa, which Nerissa is confused about, this enrages Lilith that she fights her and overpowers her, but before she can stroke her again, Nerissa uses her Demon form to take on Lilith and she completely overpowers Lilith but also excites her as Lilith is happy to see her sister again after a long time, the form then times out which upsets Lilith, who then runs off crying
Nerissa then heads to the Helicopter platform that Shay requested her to come to meet him, she then questions him what is going on, and about all the activities of the Order before being silenced by Shay, who asks her about her demonic past, about her connection with Demons themselves, Nerissa doesn’t know what he is talking about, but the Twins arrive and reveal that Nerissa is really Medusa the daughter of Lucifer, the 1 responsible for his parent’s death, enraged by this fact Shay became an Archangel with a black and gold armour along with 2 swords, Nerissa having no other choice, must fight her lover to the death, but after a long fight, Nerissa cannot bring herself to kill Shay and holds back getting badly hurt, she then drops her sword giving up with Shay almost about to cut her head but stops, he then angrily asks her why she has stopped, she cannot because she loves him too much to do so which makes Shay question himself, but Commander Anderson arrives and wounds her gravely subduing her and then promoting Shay in weakening her, she then passes out from her wounds
After a while Nerissa wakes up finding herself healed but chained up naked in front of many Demonic beasts staring at her beautiful helpless body, all walking towards her, she tries to break out with her Gauntlet but that is blocked by a magic bind and her power and strength is being sapped by the chains leaving her completely vulnerable to them, she cannot scream either as she has a mouth guard on her, she struggles but realizes there’s nothing she can do, she closes her eyes as they almost touch her before Lilith shouts at them all to move away and that she is hers, she walks to her sister and starts fondling and molesting her body to make her feel good telling them all to watch, she asks for her sister to come out as she violates her and fondles her helpless crotch, Nerissa shakes and struggles while moaning but useless in trying to resist, however she still remains Human which enrages Lilith and she tortures her in front of all the Demons, whipping her, putting toys in her, putting on crocodile clip clamps on her breasts, electrocuting her, even having her pet Cthulhu torture her
This carried on 3 days straight with Nerissa weakened by her torture with no rest, Lilith is disappointed and angry that her true sister hasn’t awakened she then gets a razor sharp blade and burns it up, making it heated, with Nerissa’s sore and bruised body, she could not take anymore but Lilith does not care and poke her whole abs with the tip of the blade burning her making her squirm and shake, she does this to her repeatedly for many hours, she even pokes her bellybutton which makes her scream, but still no change, getting irritated Lilith burns the metal really hot and then holds Nerissa’s breast up about to touch the tip of her of nipple with the end of the burning knife, Nerissa panicking and breathing hard trying to shake free but can’t do anything, only watch and take the pain
She starts sweating the closer it draws in with 1 of the Demons holding her face up to look as Lilith pokes her nipple causing Nerissa to scream and cry in pain, which triggers her and awakens her Demon form breaking out and killing all the Demons in the room and overpowering Lilith, but Lilith is happy that Medusa is back, caressing her cheek saying she missed her, welcoming her back, it look like Medusa would end her but then caresses her face saying her name, revealing that Medusa is indeed back permanently, the sisters make love in their reunion, though Medusa wants to torture Lilith back for being very “naughty” with her, making the Lilith happy and aroused as Medusa traps her and tortures her painfully and sexually
Lucifer welcomes back his daughters and proud to see that Medusa is still alive, now he tells them to prepare the Glyphs as the him and Dolor the Archangel are about to take over, many days later It is found out that Bheriya Smokes has decimated the other Demon Lords and destroyed the Glyphs, hearing his name, Medusa is angry and seeks to destroy him, however, instead of Bheriya arriving to fight her and Lilith, it’s Shay who arrives, who says he wants Nerissa back realizing she is important to him, Medusa teases him saying she is dead just like his parents she brutally murdered before laughing at him, he responds saying that the tear she shed doesn’t say that as she does not realize she is crying, he says going to kill Medusa but brings Nerissa back
So they all battle with Lilith killed by Shay and enrages Medusa making her about to a strike until Shay drops his blade saying what she said to him before as Nerissa when she stopped fighting, this makes Medusa freeze and wonder why she can’t attack, then Shay proposes to her once more making Medusa body burst like glass and revert back to Nerissa, but she still has 1 demon eye and a tail along with tiny horns in her head, she falls to Shay’s arms, passing out then wakes up happy and cries seeing him again, she was hoping he would come back to her and he did, apologizing in hating her for her life as Medusa, though Nerissa has rejected Medusa from herself, her power remains taking on a new form that comes from hers and Shay’s love for each other being in control this time, she has also gained a Holy power in her Gauntlet that makes it take a golden armour look that gives her the ability to blast laser beam-like blast of Holy power and her sword take on the form of Excalibur the Golden Greatsword that can send energy waves from each strike
Shay carries her our while covering her with his coat, they both see Bheriya having fun fighting the Saeculi Finem, the Order’s greatest weapon and beast, but realizes it keeps regenerating from the souls Dolor the Archangel is providing it while being controlled by Lucifer within, Shay chooses to take down the Archangel while Nerissa chooses to face her Father and kill him, they all face the beast and Bheriya makes a big hole in it’s chest for Nerissa to jump in before it closes, now she is inside she finds that she is in another realm that is as big as the world and looks like Hell, she fights through the many Demon Lords she and Bheriya has beaten through the many portals
She eventually makes it to Lucifer and confronts her Father whom is sitting on his throne disappointed in her, taunting her that she is weak and pathetic and is a shamed that she is his daughter, not only that but got her own sister killed, however Nerissa does not care for his words and views as she is no longer Medusa, but the lover of Shay Gladium, she is a Demon Huntress who’s name is Nerissa, not Medusa, after their argument they start to fight each other and with Lucifer being a Devil it was an intense battle he was nearly godlike but after a long hard battle, Nerissa defeats and kills her Father, impaling his heart with her Gauntlet & bursting him within wiping him out of existence
With Lucifer killed, the control over the Saeculi Finem ceases and Shay has defeated the Archangel so now it can no longer regenerate, Bheriya finishes it off and destroys it, they all defeated the Order but Lucifer and Dolor use their last remains of power to energise the beast’s remains and it forms into a weak deform being, the Fallen Saeculi Finem, Nerissa chooses to confront the beast alone while Bheriya and Shay wait
Nerissa now accepting who and what she is now wants to protect the home from her own kind, she faces the Fallen beast head on and uses all the power she has gained from her enemies and friends and then uses Bheriya’s powers to form a gigantic hand while up in the air before saying his favourite catchphrase “Checkmate” and then falls down like a meteor with her gigantic fist smashing the beasts through the ground to Hell fire burning, killing it permanently, seeing the job done, Bheriya leaves while Nerissa says she wants to fight him again next time and win, with Nerissa back with Shay after saving Jibana, they share a kiss with the sun rising
After rebuilding the city, Shay and Nerissa gets married with the reverend being Bheriya in disguise, Shay then revived the Order along with Nerissa so they can protect Ravage, not take over it and together they will eventually win and stop all the Demons, Nerissa is now happy that she can save the world along with her lover anytime and they will live happily in peace

Review: Camp and Compassion in ‘The Confession of Lily Dare’
You could call this camp heaven, and indeed “Lily Dare,” a Primary Stages production, offers both the euphoria and the shabbiness that term can suggest. As in earlier works like “Vampire Lesbians of Sodom,” which ran for five years Off Broadway, Busch doesn’t fuss over logic or continuity. Here, he simply lets Mickey and Emmy Lou, visiting Lily’s grave decades later, escort the story from scene to scene with bald narration. The visual transitions are likewise written the way they would be in a movie, begging for quick dissolves that can’t be achieved and leaving us to twiddle our thumbs while the stage crew resets the furniture.
But these clunks are essential to the Busch style, and not just because his plays, with the exception of his Broadway hit “The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife,” have usually been niche-taste, shoestring affairs. A slight lack of professional polish is part of their aesthetic, one Busch shares with longtime collaborators including the director Carl Andress, who blithely suggests the earthquake with little more than a few falling books; the set designer B.T. Whitehill, who has fashioned a proscenium out of pink plastic Frisbees; and Jessica Jahn, whose hilarious outfits for Lily have more than a hint of the thrift shop about them. (The apt costumes for everyone else are by Rebecca Townsend.)
In the same way, the multiple roles that some cast members play (though Anderson and McGillin are perfect in just one role each) function as both thrift and humor. Borg, for instance, is not just Louis the accountant but a pervy German baron, an Italian vocal coach and an Irish priest with a taste for opera. Having to distinguish them from one another pushes each to riotous extremes.
Where Busch never stints is in the diamond precision of the overripe patois, studded with boneyards, gin blossoms, the clap and the “agony box.” (That’s a piano.) As Treasure Jones, Lily refuses to let her doughboy clients get drunk: “We owe it to their mothers to protect their livers.” And awaiting her final fate she imagines the shame she might have brought on her daughter had the truth been revealed. “My mother a bordello madam. My mother a murderess. My mother … a cabaret performer.”
That’s the Busch touch: mordant and winking (he has often been a cabaret performer himself) yet oddly, genuinely moving. If he is unafraid of the clichés of disowned genres, and inhabits so lovingly the women who uttered them, perhaps that’s because they actually had more to say than the dismissive term “weepies” (or, for that matter, “camp”) implies.
Turns out that sacrifice is something we really did need to learn. Who’s weeping now?

Paul
he's like if renfield from dracula was cool youth pastor.
Fuck this rat. I loved the ending though -- op
Father Brown
He's one of the most open minded catholic priests I've ever seen in media. He's curious, clever, and kind. He solves mysteries the cops can't. He hangs out with a handyman/petty thief, the Lady of the local manor and her niece, and his parish secretary/town gossip on the regular. He's frenemies with a master thief. His bosses hate him but his parish loves him. He can't cook for shit.
