You lived in the small town of Lincoln, the niece of the influential and feared rancher Lawrence Murphy. You were known for your beauty and high status, but your demeanor left much to be desired. You lived in a lavish hacienda on the outskirts of town, your days filled with the privilege that came from your family name.
"Is it true that Billy the Kid will be working for you, uncle?" You lean forward in you seat, setting the delicate tea cup down before resting your arms on the armchair.
Major Murphy arches an eyebrow in your direction, his tone laced with a hint of amusement. "It seems you're quite curious about my affairs, dear Tori," he murmurs, a cigar nestled between his lips as he expertly lights it. As you observe, his face transforms into a canvas of pure bliss upon exhaling.
When whispers echoed through the town that Billy the Kid, the infamous outlaw, was making his way to Lincoln to join forces with your uncle, intrigue coursed through your veins. For months, tales of the daring and handsome young gunslinger had reached your ears, and what you desired most was not just to hear stories, but to talk to him face-to-face.
You casually shrug, effortlessly retrieving a cigar from your purse and igniting it with a swift movement. "I want to meet him," you declare in a matter-of-fact tone, exhaling slowly as Major Murphy chuckles in response.
"Now, just imagine what your daddy would have to say about this, Victoria. His darling daughter talking with an outlaw wanted for murder, hmm?" Murphy chuckles at his own jest, and you can't help but respond with a dismissive roll of your eyes.
"He doesn't need to know," you suggest with a mischievous glint in your eyes, casting a look at your uncle who appears to mull it over. "Please, uncle?" You flash him your most innocent puppy-dog expression, all while delicately cradling a cigar between your artfully painted fingers.
"Alright. Him and his gang are scheduled for dinner tonight, and I can arrange for you to sit across from him," Murphy concedes, succumbing to the charms you wield so effectively for your own advantage. "But let's be clear, Tori. No funny business. My brother would have my head if he discovered he laid a single finger on you under my watch," he warns, pointing a finger at you with a serious demeanor.
You rise with giddy anticipation, snatching your purse as you prepare to depart. "I promise. Thanks, Uncle," you express your gratitude before gracefully exiting his office. A mischievous smile graces your lips, and with deliberate flair, you indulge in a few draws from the toxic cigar held delicately between your fingers.
"Good mood, Miss Victoria?" James Dolan tips his hat at you upon entering the house. "Mhm, very good mod sir," You offer a pat on his shoulder, graciously handing him your cigar as you stroll past him.
~
"Maria, prepare my dress, won't you? I must be at my absolute best when I meet him," you exclaim with eager anticipation, tossing your head back to savor the warmth of whiskey trickling down your throat. "Certainly, miss," the young woman acknowledges with a nod, swiftly making her way to ensure your dress is impeccably arranged.
You gaze at your reflection in the mirror, a satisfied smile gracing your lips as you delicately adjust the pearls adorning your neck. You turn your head when you hear Maria walking in, her hands holding a red, squared neck dress. "Not that one," you scold, your tone commanding attention, "fetch the other red dress, the off-shoulder one!" A slight groan escapes your lips as Maria swiftly retreats to rectify her mistake.
"Perfect," escapes you in a contented sigh, your eyes tracing the flawless contours of your red dress. It hugs every curve, accentuating your delicate collarbones and enhancing your chest. "Don't I just look perfect?" With a confident turn, you catch the discreet glances exchanged between Maria and the other servants in the room.
"I asked a question and expect an answer-" "You look perfect, miss," "Very beautiful, miss," "You look gorgeous, miss," You revel in satisfaction at their replies, a smile playing on your lips as you turn back around, hands gliding smoothly down the contours of your dress.
"Billy has never seen a more perfect, gorgeous lady until tonight, aren't I right, Maria?" You drawled as the women furiously nods, opening her mouth to speak, "Billy will be speechless, miss."
"Exactly right. Billy will be speechless," You muse with a self-satisfied smile. "Ready my carriage, I'll be leaving soon," you announce, the silk gloves slipping effortlessly over your hands.
~
Amidst a gathering of distinguished women, you found yourself scanning the room, anticipating the sight of him. And there he was. A radiant gleam filled your eyes as you absorbed his commanding presence—his penetrating gaze and an aura that effortlessly commanded attention—while he entered with his gang of cowboys trailing behind.
The crowd falls silent for a moment, collectively recognizing the arrival of the infamous gunslinger. Swiftly, you navigate through the body of people, skillfully making your way to your uncle, who was comfortably seated on the couch, surrounded by his associates.
"Sorry to interrupt, gentleman. I need to speak to my uncle," you graciously interject, offering a charming smile as Murphy stands up. "Yes, Tori?" You grip his arm, your eyes on Billy across the room as he drinks alongside his gang, his eyes wandering around the room.
"There he is." You tilt your head in Billy's direction. "Mind introducing me to him?" Your eyes eagerly meet your uncle's, who sighs but nevertheless complies, setting his glass of whisky down on the table.
"Billy!" Your uncle calls out as you follow behind him. "Meet my lovely niece. She lives just outside town," Major Murphy presents you with a smile. Your eyes sparkle with admiration as you take in his appearance up close.
You extend a gloved hand, "Victoria Murphy," You introduce yourself with a touch of formality, though you heart was racing beneath the façade. Billy, a hint of a smile playing on his lips, takes your hand with a respectful nod.
"Billy, ma'am," he replies, his voice low and drawling. His eyes lingered on yours as well as his hold on your hand for a moment longer than was proper. A flush of red creeps up on your cheek as you clear your throat, retracting your hand.
~
Adorned in a striking strapless dress, you patiently waited for the arrival of Billy. You had invited him to you house for morning tea last night. As Billy entered the Murphy hacienda, he couldn't help but notice your calculated charm.
You greeted him with a smirk, and it was evident that you enjoyed the effect you had on him. The mansion was adorned with opulence, a stark contrast to the humble dwellings of the townsfolk.
"Elena, go bring us tea," You sternly spoke to the newly employed maid who scrambles off. Billy watches the interaction with a slight furrow of his eyebrows before he sets his eyes back on you with a charming smile.
During the evening, your treatment of your Spanish maids became apparent. Your demands were met with silent obedience, and the atmosphere in the hacienda was one of subservience. Despite the discomfort in the air, Billy remained composed, observing the dynamic at play.
"Mr. Bonney, won't you have a seat?" You gestured towards an ornate chair. Billy nodded graciously, "Billy's fine," he smiles briefly, his eyes lingering on the elegant surroundings. As he settled into the chair, you took a seat across from him.
"So, Billy, how do you like it here in Lincoln," You gaze at him as you readjust your dress. Billy's eyes couldn't help but let his eyes wander down to your chest as you tug it up. Clearing his throat, he opens his mouth, "It's lovely here," he nods, eyes wandering around the room.
You slowly nodding, Billy was a man of few words. "Light my cigarette, will ya?" You reach for a cigar before nestling it in between you painted lips and leaning over for him to light the other end. Your eyes move to the doors that opened revealing Elena. "Tea?" You inquired, flicking the ash into the ash tray, as Elena comes closer to the two of you. As she comes closer, you notice her shaking.
The delicate porcelain cup trembled in her hands and you couldn't help the scowl that made it to your face. She nervously looks at you and then Billy—who notices her nervousness, offers her a friendly smile.
Her hands shakily attempt to put the teacup and teapot set down on the table, the shaking of the porcelain being the only source of noise. "Oh for goodness sake, Elena, just put it down-"
Billy, watching you was caught off guard when a cascade of hot liquid spilled onto his lap. Your face contorted with anger as you stood up, Elena lets out a gasp, furiously apologising.
"I am so sorry. I'm so sorry- I didn't mean to-" Elena stammered as her hands frantically try to wipe the hot liquid off Billy's jeans as your breathing became heavier with embarrassment.
Billy catches Elena's hands in his, "Hey- it's okay, 'm fine." Billy shrugs and offers her a smile. "Elena. You may go," You walk over to her, your hand grasping her forearm as she stumble.
"You've embarrassed me enough today," you harshly say to her, closing the door on her face, though your harsh words reached Billy's listening ear.
Billy, feeling the sting of the scalding tea, looked at you with a cool gaze. "There's no need to treat her like that," he said calmly. Unaccustomed to defiance, you scoffed.
"And why not? They're my maids, I pay them, so I can treat them however I want," You cross your arms in front of your arms, head tilted to the side slightly.
Billy's response was measured yet firm. "'Cause it's not right. We're all human, deserving of respect. You felt a mixture of annoyance and intrigue. Here was a man who didn't bow to her every whim. She'd be lying if she said her attraction to Billy, wasn't fueled by the unexpected clash of wills.
You took a long drag, maintaining eye contact with Billy, attempting to decipher him. "You're quite different, Billy," You comment, as he tilts his head at your words. "Am I? Why? Because I think it's wrong that you treating your maids poorly?" You see a glint of rage in his icy blue eyes.
“Because you openly tell me this. A proper man would keep it to himself and let a woman like myself do as she pleases. After all, a household thrives on order, and as the woman of this house, I run it how I please." Your voice carried an authoritative resonance, unwavering even under Billy's icy gaze.
"I'm an outlaw, baby," he drawled as you narrow your eyes at him, "outlaws aren't considered proper men," he leans forward in his seat, his blue eyes boring into yours before he downs the already cold tea.
In the quiet moments that followed, Billy's presence became a subtle challenge to your accustomed lifestyle. He spoke of a different way of life, one where strength and honor were not measured by the wealth one possessed. Yo were torn between your attraction to Billy and the expectations placed upon you, you found yourself grappling with conflicting emotions.
"Your beauty is undeniable, Victoria," his sudden words of compliment cause you to look up at him. "But your arrogance and mistreatment of others make you ugly," he remarked, his eyes piercing at you.
You, unused to facing such truths, felt a mixture of anger and vulnerability. You wanted to dismiss his words, to maintain a façade of invincibility, but a part of you longed for something more genuine.
At high noon, Billy prepared to leave the Murphy hacienda. You stood on the steps of your threshold, looking at Billy with a mixture of defiance and longing. Billy, sensing the internal struggle within you, offered a parting piece of advice.
"You're a good girl, Victoria. Don't let your stubbornness and pride get into the way of being a decent human being," with those words lingering in the air, Billy rode off, leaving a conflicted woman on the steps of the Murphy hacienda. The echoes of their encounter resonated through the town, a subtle reminder that even the toughest hearts could be swayed by the winds of change.

THIS DAY IN GAY HISTORY
based on: The White Crane Institute's 'Gay Wisdom', Gay Birthdays, Gay For Today, Famous GLBT, glbt-Gay Encylopedia, Today in Gay History, Wikipedia, and more … December 21
Tumblr media Tumblr media
1804 – Benjamin Disraeli (d.1881) was a British Conservative politician, writer and aristocrat who twice served as Prime Minister. He played a central role in the creation of the modern Conservative Party, defining its policies and its broad outreach. Disraeli is remembered for his influential voice in world affairs, his political battles with the Liberal leader William Gladstone, and his one nation conservatism or "Tory democracy". He made the Conservatives the party most identified with the glory and power of the British Empire. He is, as of 2015, the only British Prime Minister of Jewish birth. Disraeli was born in London. His father left Judaism after a dispute at his synagogue; young Benjamin became an Anglican at age 12.
Together with his sister's fiancé, William Meredith, Disraeli travelled widely in southern Europe and beyond in 1830–31. The trip was financed partly by a novel, The Young Duke, written by Disraeli in 1829–30. The tour was cut short suddenly by Meredith's death from smallpox in Cairo in July 1831. Despite this tragedy, and the need for treatment for a sexually transmitted disease on his return, Disraeli felt enriched by his experiences. He became aware of values that seemed denied to his insular countrymen. The journey encouraged his self-consciousness, his moral relativism, and his interest in Eastern racial and religious attitudes.
After several unsuccessful attempts in which his opposition accused Disraeli of practicing "Eastern love", i.e. homosexuality, Disraeli entered the House of Commons in 1837. When the Conservatives gained power in 1841, Disraeli was given no office by the Prime Minister, Sir Robert Peel. In 1846, Peel split the party over his proposal to repeal the Corn Laws, which imposed a tariff on imported grain. Disraeli clashed with Peel in the Commons. The Conservatives who split from Peel had few who were adept in Parliament, and Disraeli became a major figure in the party, though many in it did not favor him. When Lord Derby, the party leader, thrice formed governments in the 1850s and 1860s, Disraeli served as Chancellor of the Exchequer and Leader of the House of Commons. He also forged a bitter rivalry with the Liberal Party’s William Gladstone.
Upon Derby's retirement in 1868, Disraeli became Prime Minister briefly before losing that year's election. He returned to opposition, before leading the party to a majority in the 1874 election. He maintained a close friendship with Queen Victoria, who in 1876 created him Earl of Beaconsfield. Disraeli's second term was dominated by the Eastern Question—the slow decay of the Ottoman Empire and the desire of other European powers, such as Russia, to gain at its expense. Disraeli arranged for the British to purchase a major interest in the Suez Canal Company (in Ottoman-controlled Egypt). In 1878, faced with Russian victories against the Ottomans, he worked at the Congress of Berlin to obtain peace in the Balkans at terms favourable to Britain and unfavourable to Russia, its longstanding enemy. This diplomatic victory over Russia established Disraeli as one of Europe's leading statesmen.
World events thereafter moved against the Conservatives. Controversial wars in Afghanistan and South Africa undermined his public support. He angered British farmers by refusing to reinstitute the Corn Laws in response to poor harvests and cheap imported grain. With Gladstone conducting a massive speaking campaign, his Liberals bested Disraeli's Conservatives in the 1880 election. In his final months, Disraeli led the Conservatives in opposition. He had throughout his career written novels, beginning in 1826, and he published his last completed novel, Endymion, shortly before he died at the age of 76.

1917 – In Russia, the Bolsheviks nullified many laws including the one making sex between men a criminal act. Seventeen years later Article 121 would re-criminalize it, carrying a sentence up to five years "deprivation of freedom."

1944 – Michael Tilson Thomas, the American conductor, was born today. A conductor, pianist, composer and director of the San Francisco Symphony, Thomas has become in a relatively short time one of the most prominent American conductors of his generation. Perhaps most significantly, he is the first Gay conductor to achieve such prominence without masking or hiding his sexuality.
Tilson Thomas does not discuss his sexuality or his personal life with the public, but his dedication to creating and presenting music that explores the Gay experience confirms his importance as a Gay conductor.
Not only has he impressed audiences with his musical vision, talented conducting, and prolific number of recordings, but he has also used his position to commission works by Gay composers that use the medium of classical music to represent Gay life and Gay history.
To this end, he organized the American Mavericks music festival in San Francisco in June 2000. The festival highlighted the works of such composers as Lou Harrison, Lukas Foss, Earle Brown, Steve Reich, David Del Tredici, and Meredith Monk. Tilson Thomas has similarly pushed audiences to rethink the relationship between classical music and homosexuality by celebrating openly Gay composers such as Harrison and by commissioning works from Del Tredici and others that explicitly explore the experiences of Gay men and Lesbians. Although Gay men and Lesbians have long been present in the world of classical music, both as performers and as audience members, they have often remained invisible. Tilson Thomas has taken bold steps to change this.
In May 2001, Tilson Thomas conducted the premiere of Del Tredici's Gay Life, a series of pieces he commissioned that are based on poems by Allen Ginsberg, Thom Gunn, and Paul Monette. The work both explores the experiences of Gay men in America and also delves into the challenges that Gay men have faced in their struggle to survive the AIDS epidemic.
In addition, two of Tilson Thomas' own compositions have added to the small but growing classical music repertoire focused on Gay subjects. Three Poems by Walt Whitman, written for baritone and orchestra, and We Two Boys Together Clinging, for baritone and pian
o, use Whitman's poetry to explore intimacy between men.

1947 – Dr. Steven Watson, born on this date, is a cultural historian who is particularly interested in the dynamics of the twentieth century American avant-garde.
His 1991 book Strange Bedfellows: The First American Avant-Garde was called "a chapter in our national biography" by Stefan Kanfer for the Los Angeles Times and "a marvelous group portrait of a band of cultural renegades" by Publishers Weekly. Watson has written five books about 20th century American avant-garde and counterculture movements, curated two exhibitions at the National Portrait Gallery ("Group Portrait, The First American Avant-Garde" and "Rebels: Painters and Poets of the 1950's"), and served as consultant curator for the Whitney Museum exhibition "Beat Culture and the New America".
Watson grew up in the suburbs of Minneapolis, Minnesota and graduated from Mound High School. He majored in English at Stanford University and participated in anti-Vietnam War protests, including a guerrilla theater piece called Alice in ROTC-Land, co-starring with Sigourney Weaver.
After graduation, he founded an alternative elementary school called KNOW School in Auburn, California. He studied psychology at the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he received his Ph.D. in 1976, and he worked for nineteen years as the staff psychologist of the Putnam County Community Mental Health Clinic.
In 1976, Watson also began writing articles for the Village Voice, New York Newsday, Soho Weekly News, and Gaysweek. His work on gay culture included the first major article about Marsha P. Johnson, an early extended interview with Sylvia Rivera, and a book about the transgender figure, Minette. At the same time, he began writing books about key circles of the twentieth century.
He currently lives in New York City.

 He appeared in Bon Jovi's music video "Always", with Carla Gugino and Keri Russell. He co-starred with Meryl Streep in the Public Theater's 2006 production of Mother Courage and Her Children.
He starred in a short-lived MTV drama series, Dead at 21. 1969 – Gay Liberation Front members Jim Owles and Marty Robinson and about twelve people met in Arthur Bell’s Manhattan apartment and founded The Gay Activists Alliance (GAA). Author Arthur Evans wrote the group’s statement of purpose and much of its constitution. Acting on the principle that the personal is the political, GAA held homophobes who were in positions of authority personally accountable for the consequences of their public policies.
Accordingly, Robinson, Evans, and Owles developed the tactic of “zaps.” These were militant (but non-violent) face-to-face confrontations with outspoken homophobes in government, business, and the media. Evans was often arrested in such actions, participating in disruptions of local business offices, political headquarters, local TV shows, and the Metropolitan Opera.
In effect, GAA created a new model of gay activism, highly theatrical while also eminently practical and focused. It forced the media and the political establishment to take Gay concerns seriously as a struggle for justice. Previously the media treated Gay life as a peripheral freak show. The new Gay activism inspired Gay people to act unapologetically from a position of Gay Pride. This new model inspired other Gay groups across the county, eventually triggering revolutionary improvements in Gay life that continue to this day.
In November 1970, Robinson and Evans, along with Dick Leitsch of the Mattachine Society, appeared on the Dick Cavett Show. They were among the first openly Gay activists to be prominently featured as guests on a national TV program.

Some more niche Australian Kano headcanons
Kano says he's from Perth, but he's actually from Broadmeadows in Victoria.
He's been on A Current Affair a few times. The first was for a scam he ran before getting into arms dealing, the second was because he's just the fucking WORST neighbour.
While he gives folks who visit his fight club Fosters, he would never drink it himself. He's a VB (Victoria Bitter) man, XXXX if there's no VB.
They were going to make an Underbelly series about the Black Dragon but mysteriously the producers at Channel 9 were all killed.
Contrary to popular opinion, he "doesn't fucken know Chopper Reid"
His choice of car is a souped up Holden Commodore

In Depth Details
Vincent was the result of an affair between Solomon and Victoria. They were both in a secret relationship that would have been forbidden by the Fawley’s if they found out. Victoria was betrothed to another man from a more powerful pureblood family.
They both met at the Ministry where Victoria’s family were climbing the ranks and Solomon was an Auror.
After Victoria found out she was pregnant, she and Solomon originally planned to run away together to start anew as a family. But the plan was thwarted when Victoria’s brother found out about her pregnancy and threatened to have Solomon “taken care of.”
She agreed to end things with Solomon to keep him safe under the condition that her pregnancy be carried to full term, and she would send the baby to Solomon to raise. Her brother reluctantly agreed and helped her hide her pregnancy from their family by pretending she was travelling around Europe before settling down.
Solomon was so devastated that Victoria ended things with him that he refused to take in Vincent. So instead, he was sent to a wizarding orphanage.
Victoria officially named Vincent and left him a letter that he could open once he was old enough. The letter contained details of how she loved him dearly and wished that the circumstances of his arrival had been different. She urged him not to contact her as he may find himself in danger and she would find it too painful if anything happened to him.
Vincent was eventually adopted at the age of five by a woman called Mary Hopper and her younger brother, Joseph. Neither of them was married nor had children due to their busy careers as Aurors before they retired, but they wanted to raise a child to fill the void in their lives.
They brought him up in the Yorkshire countryside and he would help with the farm animals and chores every day. He was home-schooled about magic by Mary.
Vincent was disappointed when his magical abilities didn’t appear and watched as his friends develop theirs one-by-one. Vincent was slowly left out of the group and became estranged by the time they got their letters to Hogwarts a few years later. All the wizards in the village called him the “local squib,” and would either turn their noses up at him or pity him.
Vincent grew bitter at everyone’s attitudes towards him, and even started to resent the wizarding world. Mary and Joseph would remind him that even though squibs were rare, it was normal for them to occur. They contacted a friend who was also a squib so that Vincent could meet them and discuss his frustrations. It helped him to understand that he wasn’t alone!
Joseph passed away in the Spring of 1890 and Vincent was devastated! Soon afterwards on a particularly frustrating day, Vincent’s magic finally developed after he went to light a fire outside, and the magic he unknowingly produced almost caused an explosion! The next day he received a Hogwarts acceptance letter and a letter from the Ministry about being tutored by Professor Fig in preparation for Hogwarts later that year.

Hi, please do with Michael finding out that Victoria and Sonny are having an affair, and that Victoria is pregnant with him, him catching them in the act
What we’ve all been waiting for… Michael finding out about Victonny once and for all. 😶 It was only inevitable after all.
Love into Lies: The End.
One business trip after another, meetings lasting for hours, politicians and powerful men seeking to revel in Corleone power as Michael balanced the reputation and legacy of his family as Don while avoiding and diverting a potential war all rested in Michael’s hands.
1957 had been passing by with long absences from Michael away from the family, but that was no excuse nor the reasoning behind your budding affair with Sonny, your brother-in-law behind your husband’s back.
Tumblr media
Michael could have very well been present every single day at the compound and yet you and Sonny would still have been grasping at straws to justify being together and make opportunities happen.
The truth is, the nature of your affair and romance with Sonny never had anything to do with Michael’s absence.
Perhaps the bitterness and hatred boiling in Michael towards it all would have not been quite as intense if the truth of the matter was that Sonny began to curl up to you and seduce you while Michael was away. That would have made sense.
Michael has already forced himself to swallow the truth, however. You didn’t care for Michael’s absence or presence because all you thought about, craved and wanted was Sonny.
Michael had to accept that his wife on her own accord fell in love with Sonny and desired him just as much as Sonny desired her. Nothing could change this, and nothing could remedy it either.
Only Michael and Tom knew of your affair as Michael confided in him and only him; the only brother Michael can trust. Neither men have any intention on spreading word of the affair around the compound but rather dealing with it secretly without involving anyone else.
The latter, however, became impossible once Michael examined your medical checkup reports and pregnancy records. There was no way someone else could not be involved when you also gave birth to two of Sonny’s children—not Michael’s.
Your son Angelo and Daughter Isabella that you had welcomed to this world was loved, cared by and adored by Michael under the belief that they were his when in reality you had been giving birth to Sonny’s children.
Four cigarettes in, Michael remains seated in his office chair unmoving and with no colour or expression to his face; all emotion deadened as he holds his cigarette in-between his fingers and lets ash build up on the tip.
Feeling nauseous from the revelations and anxious, Tom sits across from Michael and lowers his gaze to the ground; a hand clasped over his mouth, left completely speechless from the truth.
Having not exited his office in three hours and cancelled all of his business meetings and plans for the day, you and Sonny remain completely oblivious to what Michael has come to realized—preoccupied with your day and household tasks.
“Dada!” Michael remembers greeting Angelo and Isabella after arriving home from a business meeting—kissing both of his childrens’ cheeks and spending as much quality time as he could with his growing family.
Now, Michael feels completely detatched from Angelo and Isabella, as if they were strangers. Michael isn’t their father, he’s their uncle and yet now from all the lies unfolded, he feels no love or sympathy towards them anymore.
“Mikey, I don’t…” Tom’s voice falters as he swallows hard. “I don’t know what to say.”
“You don’t have to say anything, Tom,” Michael repeats, staring at the wall across from him. “There’s nothing you need to say at all.”
“What about Isabella and Angelo?” Tom shakes his head. “What will be done about them? They’re just children.”
“Not my children for as far as I’m concerned,” Michael replies back coldly. “They are just children, yes, but they won’t be raised here. Clemenza will arrange for them to be raised with Don Tomassino in Sicily.”
“Right,” Tom takes in a deep breath, realizing the children won’t exactly have parents anymore once this is all over and dealt with. “I’ll get in touch with him. And…?”
Michael’s eyes meet Tom’s as he raises his cigarette to his lips, taking a long drag from it. “That’s what I’ve been thinking about—what to do with them.”
“Mike,” Tom begins, “I think you should talk to Don Ferrari before—”
“Before what, Tom?” Michael interrupts. “What will he do about his daughter once I tell him she’s been having an affair with my brother? He chooses to be involved in the marriages of his children, unlike our father. He will always have an opinion and say in anything that revolves his daughter. I’ll save Victoria the shame of telling her father the truth while she’s still alive.”
“So you’ll kill her then,” Tom lowers his voice, in disbelief. “You’ll have her killed knowing her father will come for revenge.”
“He won’t,” Michael brushes off the thought, blowing out smoke around him. “Nobody wants another war, Tom. He’ll become my enemy, but he can’t act out against me just yet, regardless of how he feels.”
“He’ll never justify his daughter’s death unless she betrayed the family,” Tom points out.
“Yes, exactly,” Michael agrees, “so then we’ll tell Don Ferrari what he’ll want to hear but that’ll be the end of our allyship and relations with the Ferrari’s.”
“But what about Leonardo and Connie?” Tom frowns, “this is going to come back to haunt them.”
“It won’t,” Michael denies, “Leonardo is a good man. Besides his father, he’s the only man of the Ferrari family I trust. He’s good to Connie and now he’s Connie’s husband. Victoria’s infidelity isn’t going to destroy apart a happy marriage.”
‘The irony.’ Tom rakes a hand through his hair out of frustration, nodding grimly. “God, I’m so sorry, Mike. I’m sorry. I can’t believe this is all happening—that this all happened.”
“You have nothing to apologize for,” Michael taps off the ashes from his cigarette. “This will be dealt with.”
“You wouldn’t consider separating them, would you?” Tom offers. “Perhaps keeping Sonny in New York but detached from the family and Victoria in Sicily.”
“I could have those two on the opposite ends of the world and they’d still find their way to each other,” Michael’s eyes harden. “That’s what they’ve been doing behind my back for years now.”
“They must have thought about the consequences,” Tom mutters under his breath, “they must have thought about something.”
“I’m sure they have,” Michael takes another drag from his cigarette, “and I assume they came to the conclusion that the only consequences available are death. Yet they still continued their affair and birthed two children out of wedlock, putting me under the belief they were mine. That tells me everything.”
Tom raises his head, looking at Michael with worry. “What do you mean?”
“I mean they believe it’s worth it,” Michael states. “All of this was worth it to them. Lovebirds blinded and sickened by their own unnatural affair; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, both married with children. They would die together in each other’s arms if they had to and I will not give them the opportunity to be together in death as they were in life.”
Tom’s heart pounds in his chest from Michael’s words, seeing no ounce of forgiveness or pity left in his brother; nothing but pure spite and bitterness.
“I want Rocco and Al to bring them here now,” Michael speaks calmly, “and I want to hear the confessions come out of their mouths before I explain to them every last detail of their death. I want them to watch each other die, unable to do anything about it.”
~
“When my turn?! When my turn?!” Angelo claps his hands excitedly, watching Sonny begin to reel in his catch.
“When you’re old enough, buddy!” Sonny calls back with a grin, “I promise! Uncle Fredo and I’ll take you as many times as you want.”
“I’ll even teach you some of my favourite fishing tricks your uncle and I use!” Fredo nods, closing up the tin of bait next to him on the boat.
Standing on the docks with your arms crossed, you chuckle to yourself—unable to wipe the smile off your face.
Regardless of whether little Angelo may think of Sonny as his uncle and not his father, there’s always been more than just a “nephew and uncle” bond between the two; a secret you don’t intend on telling Angelo or his little sister for many, many years.
Sonny reels out a trout, quick to set it down in the boat before catching your eye and giving you a wave, smirking.
You blush, waving back from a distance—letting the spring air flow over you and your dress as you watch over Sonny and Fredo over the water, beginning to move the boat towards the docks.
“You wanna grab that lucky fishing rod of yours, eh?” Sonny begins to carefully hook another piece of bait onto his fishing rod.
“Uh huh, and this time I’m gonna say a hail Mary like I always do,” Fredo nods ecstatically, eager to get to the docks.
Distracted from watching the two, you gasp softly when you feel a hand touch your hip; not overly affectionate but to signal whose come to join you.
“Hi, darling,” you glance over to your side, seeing Michael standing next to you.
“Hello,” Michael greets—somewhat withdrawn from his distant tone of voice only to muffle down the pain he begins to feel doubling inside of him seeing you now. “Enjoying yourself?”
You nod, letting out a soft laugh. “Well, it gives me something to do as the laundry dries. It’s been a slow day, surprisingly.”
What you don’t know as Michael’s briefly distracted you in some small talk is that Rocco whispers something to Esther—the nanny—who gives him a brief nod before smiling at Angelo, talking all sweet like and leading him back towards the central family estate.
Al Neri makes conversation with Fredo and Sonny by the docks, handing Fredo’s his favourite “lucky” fishing rod before joining the two men on the boat—seemingly all harmless in your perspective.
“You didn’t want to join them?” Michael asks, gesturing to Sonny and Fredo paddling off into the lake again.
“Oh, no,” you say back sheepishly, shaking your head. “I can always enjoy a good view but fishing isn’t my thing. You know I’d get seasick all over again!”
“Surprising,” Michael comments—his tone of voice growing colder with each word. “You never leave his side if you can help it.”
“His side…?” You blink, turning your head to face Michael.
Michael stares back at you; his gaze hardened and affixed with bitterness and cruelty. It’s a look that instantly causes waves of anxiety to rush through you enough to make you feel queasy and weak in the knees, but it’s also a look that tells you Michael knows more than you do.
Michael nods slowly, realizing you’ve figured out what he means now. “Or is that something you’ve figured to do in my absence? You don’t get too close to your lover so I continue not to suspect.”
Your breath hitches as you swallow hard—freezing in spot. Unable to speak, unable to think of anything, your muscles tense up as shock and worry course through you.
“You and I were here only two weeks ago,” Michael speaks to you in a soft, calm tone. “We watched the sun rise early in the morning. We remained here for two hours, talking to one another. I held you in my arms and there I debated whether I should tell you then or tell you after breakfast that I had another upcoming business trip that week. I did not tell you because I wanted to spend that loving moment with my wife and push aside my work, and even when I left, I thought about you and the morning we shared together. Had I known—” Michael’s voice begins to grow sharper, “that you were having an affair with Santino—cheating on me, lying to me, betraying me for years on end, that morning would have ended very differently.
You swallow hard, feeling tears begin to pool up in your eyes.
Rocco keeps his eyes over both you and the boat Sonny, Fredo and Al Neri are in—signalling to Al Neri with subtle hand gestures and glances.
Al keeps his hand over his pistol concealed inside his suit jacket, pretending to listen into the conversation Fredo and Sonny make amongst one another while fishing—waiting for the Don’s final word.
“I don’t want to know why,” Michael continues. “I don’t want to know why you chose him, when you did and how you did it. I don’t want to know because it serves me no purpose, like our marriage that you chose to destroy and sully.”
“You wouldn’t have let me go anyway,” you manage to croak out.
“Would I have not?” Michael raises a brow. “Should you have filed for divorce and kept the children with me and the same upon Santino, do you really think I would spend my time scouring the ends of the earth to track down two lovers meeting again elsewhere? You should have done that, Victoria. You should have told me and then you should have left. You disgrace my home with your adultery and you do so with my brother. How long did you think I wouldn’t have noticed, hmm?”
“I… I don’t—”
Michael grabs your wrist, staring you dead in the eyes. “You lied to me. You lied to our children, and you gave birth to the children of another man. You made me father my brother’s children under a lie.”
Smiling and scraping off fish scales from the bucket of what he and Fredo have caught today, Sonny gazes up at you—ignoring Michael by your side completely and admiring your beauty.
“M-Michael—” you sniffle, feeling your throat tighten. “You’re hurting me—”
“I’m going to do a lot more than hurt you,” his words sink into you like poison. “When I look at you now, I see nothing. I don’t see my wife, I don’t see my best friend, and I don’t see the mother of my children. I see nobody. You are nothing to me, Victoria. I loved you and I was never unfaithful to you but now you have none other to blame other than yourself. Our children will grow up motherless.”
You flinch, hearing the sound of a pistol going off.
You quickly turn your head towards the lake—Michael refusing to let go of your wrist without budging a muscle only to see the boat sprayed crimson with blood, the same blood splattered over Fredo’s face who sits in a state of shock on the boat.
Neri stares down at Sonny’s lifeless body crumpled onto the boat now pooling with his blood and with  a bullet in the back of Sonny’s head.
“Think about your next words and actions very wisely,” Michael warns you as Rocco begins to approach you from behind. “Should you wish for Angelo and Isabella not to join your fate.”
“Sonny—”
Rocco grabs your wrists, roughly pulling them behind your back to tie them tightly with rope as two other bodyguards of Michael’s begin to approach from both sides, cornering you two.
“I’m going to save you the embarrassment of how you’ll feel once your family discovers everything,” Michael stares at you with disgust. “But for all everyone else knows, you drowned in a tragic accident at the lake. I would never let you die with him.”
Rocco presses the tip of his pistol onto your back when you resist, immediately ceasing your movements.
“M-Michael, please, p-please—” You breathe out weakly, gasping for air throughout your sobs as your body quivers against the ropes being tied around your ankles and wrists.
“While my brother’s body rots in the bottom of Lake Tahoe, I won’t let your remains touch his, even in death.”
“Michael!” You cry out in protest, feeling the tightness of the ropes sting and etch into your skin but Michael has no intention on letting your screams notify anyone else in the family.
“Goodbye, Victoria,” it’s Michael who pushes you into the lake with a quick shove, watching you splash into the cold water unable to move, wriggle free or fight against the currents.
Michael puts both of his hands in the pockets of his trousers, pursing his lips and watching you drown and attempt to thrash around with a monotone expression over his face.
Water burns your lungs with each helpless breath you take amidst the water and waves engulfing and overpowering you as you begin to drown—your eyes burning from your tears and vision blurred only to see Sonny’s blood mixing into the water near you.
Michael’s heart forever remains cold and hardened. Whatever humanity he had towards his family is destroyed, but he willingly dons the blood of his wife and brother on his hands.

BACKGROUND - triggers for abuse, alcoholism and drug abuse
sade was born as the love child of the son of a famous record producer and a wannabe singer. their affair started with her mother wanting to form a relationship with her father because of his connections with the music industry, but she quickly fell for him, despite the fact that he already had a son and was involved with another woman. her father viewed her mother as a passing fling, nothing more nothing less, and that pissed her mother off. when she fell pregnant with sade, she wanted her father to have nothing to do with her. despite him offering financial help and wanting to see the child that they created together, her mother pushed him away and refused to let him have any contact with sade.
her mother's singing career never took off, so she took up an everyday job as a crossing guard while sade was growing up. they struggled quite a bit, her mother having to take care of her all on her own due to her stubbornness and refusal to accept help from her father. from a young age, sade always asked her mother about the man who helped create her, and she was always given a story about how her father was a deadbeat, horrible man that wanted nothing to do with her and refused to be apart of her life. and like the naive child that she was, she believed her mother.
it didn't take long for her mother's disdain and bitterness towards her ex lover to turn towards sade. her mother had always been a heavy drinker, due to her own demons in her past, however her drinking became even worse after having sade. when she wasn't intoxicated, they had a decent dynamic and relationship. but the big issue was that her mother rarely wasn't intoxicated, and when she was under the influence of alcohol, her true colors shone bright and true. by the time sade was eight years old, she had learned how to avoid her mother during her drinking binges. but even then, it was difficult for her to avoid the abuse, both physical and mental, that her mother put her through whenever she was drunk and going through one of her dark moods, which happened more often than sade likes to dwell on.
the straw that broke the camel's back came about when sade was eleven years old. her mother got a boyfriend who was heavily involved in drugs and alcohol, and got her mother involved in substance abuse as well. if her home life was bad before, it became absolute hell after that. not only did she had to endure her mother, but her mother's boyfriend as well, whom her mother never protected her from. just when life seemed darker than ever, sade was finally granted some grace for once in her life. one of her teachers, whom she still keeps in contact with to this day, contacted CPS, who immediately had sade removed from her childhood home and was placed into the system. it didn't take long for them to track down her birth father, and she was placed into his care full time.
sade was surprised, to say the least, that her father wanted her in the first place. he had to sit an eleven year old sade down and tell her the truth; that it was her mother that had kept her away from him all these years. in fact, he had consistently tried to make contact with her for her entire life, only to be intercepted by her mother. the conversation evoked a multitude of feelings within sade. on one hand, she wanted to hate her mother; but she knew that she never could. sade was a soft hearted and sensitive soul without a hateful bone in her body. despite the negative choices her mother made and the treatment she endured from her, she could never bring herself to hate her. she treated her horribly, but, as few and far between as they were, they had their good moments; the times when her mother was sober and they would sing together, and her mother would tell her that she was destined for great things, as any mother would.
going from being flat broke and struggling with her mother in a tiny, two bedroom apartment in queens, to living in one of the nicest homes in manhattan was a huge culture shock to sade. the homes that she had only seen in passing had become an everyday part of her life. she had access to more money than she could fathom, and she'd be a liar if she tried to say that her preteen self didn't fall into it head first.
she was placed in the best performing arts school in the city, due to both her musical ability and her father's name, and quickly formed friendships with the other children there. due to her naive nature and kind heart, it was easy for her to be swept up in the wrong crowd. she was a good kid with a good heart, but just like her mother, she was very susceptible to dabbling in different things that she definitely shouldn't have as a teen. her friends had been expert partiers since their early teen years, some of them as early as preteens, and they were all too eager for fresh meat to introduce to their lifestyle.
by the time sade was sixteen, she was a hard partier - still is. parties every weekend, hanging out with friends late into the night during the week to drink and dabble in drugs here and there. she couldn't understand why drinking had turned her mother into such a monster when she felt so joyful, confident and loved whenever she was drunk. her father didn't approve of her new friend group, one of the only things she ever butted heads with her father about, and still until this day. but sade disregarded his worry over her, and continued hanging out with them.
after graduating from high school, sade decided to forgo college in favor of pursuing a career in music. from a young age, music had become her safe haven. whenever she was held up in her room as a child, hiding from her mother's wrath, she would listen to music that would help her escape. instead of talking about her problems, she would write them all out in the form of songs and poetry. music ran through her blood, and she wanted to lean into it, dedicate her life to it. it was one of the things that granted her true happiness in life.
she knew that cracking into the music industry would be a tough feat, which was why she didn't hesitate to use her father's name to cut through the red tape. she knew, and knows, that she's very privileged in that regard, and is very grateful for the leg up that she had in the industry because she wouldn't be where she is now without it. with her first album released the year she turned eighteen, she found almost instant success and wants to keep rising as an artist and honing her craft.
despite being happy with how things are in her music career, a part of her still wishes she had a better relationship with her mother. she's kept in contact with her on and off over the years, against her father's judgement, and their relationship is still as tumultuous as ever. but she refuses to stop trying, even when it seems like her mother wants nothing more than for sade to fail in life; just like she seemingly did.
PERSONALITY BREAKDOWN
as a kind hearted girl at her core, sade can be quite naive and impressionable. she likes to see the good in everyone and thinks that most people in the world are capable of turning over a new leaf and becoming better. she's always willing to give people second, third, sometimes even fourth chances, which has bitten her in the ass more often than not, but she refuses to think the worst of anyone until they break her trust multiple times - and even then, she can't really bring herself to hate most people.
she considers herself a social butterfly and a real girls' girl. it's not unusual to see her in the middle of a group of women, or praising and supporting women. she's become known as a friend collector in the industry, charming people and building friendships with them. it's not uncommon for her to be mentioned in passing by other celebrities as someone who joined them at a party, supported them, or was just a good friend to them. it's become an ongoing online joke that she knows everyone; which isn't too far off the mark.
as sweet as she is, sade can be absolutely stubborn, headstrong and set in her ways when it comes to something that she wants to do. when she has a goal in mind, she does anything she can to reach it, and won't allow anyone to stand in her way.
WANTED CONNECTION IDEAS
platonic soulmate - that one person that sade considers to be her platonic better half. a kindred spirit that she can rely on and really connects with on a deeper level. more than a best friend, more like a sibling.
squad (3 to 4 muses) - a tight knit circle of friends that sade leans on in her time of need, and always shows up for in their times of need. well known in the celebrity world for how close they are.
antagonist - the one person that can really get under her skin. they can make the sweet girl turn into a raging bitch and they always butt heads with one another.
music in me - a collaborator when it comes to music. someone she bounces her ideas off of, comes to for their opinions on tracks she's working on, and is the first person that she plays music for when she's finished with songs.
ex(es) - sade's a lover girl at heart, and has had flings and relationships alike. most of which ended on friendly terms, but a few had nasty fallouts.
party friends - the people that encourage sade's vices and indulges in her partying tendencies. always at the scene of the crime after a late night out drinking and dabbling in substances.
friend(s) with benefits (any gender / non gender conforming) - the few people that sade can hit up whenever she's in the mood for a little bit of fun.
childhood friend - a friend that's been there throughout her life and knows pretty much everything about what she's been through growing up. someone that's been constant and consistent for the majority of her life and will always hold a special place in her heart.
social media fueled enemy - whether it be because they're both in the music industry or whatever, their fans have somehow pitted them against each other and have formed conspiracies and theories about how much they hate each other; despite them actually being friends or not even knowing each other that well at all.

Why is Sylvia Plath important?
Sylvia Plath was an American writer whose best-known works, including the poems “Daddy” and “Lady Lazarus” and the novel The Bell Jar, starkly express a sense of alienation and self-destruction that has resonated with many readers since the mid-20th century.
Where did Sylvia Plath study?
Sylvia Plath entered Smith College on a scholarship in 1951. She achieved considerable artistic, academic, and social success, but she also suffered from severe depression, attempted suicide, and underwent a period of psychiatric hospitalization. She graduated from Smith with highest honours in 1955 and went on to Newnham College, Cambridge, on a Fulbright fellowship.
When was Sylvia Plath married?
In 1956 Sylvia Plath married the English poet Ted Hughes; they had two children. The couple separated in 1962 after Hughes had an affair. Hughes compiled many of Plath’s posthumous publications. Controversy surrounded his editing practices, especially when he revealed that he had destroyed the last journals Plath had written before her suicide.
What awards did Sylvia Plath win?
The Collected Poems, which included many previously unpublished poems, appeared in 1981 and received the 1982 Pulitzer Prize for poetry, which made Sylvia Plath the first to receive the honour posthumously.
Sylvia Plath, pseudonym Victoria Lucas, (born October 27, 1932, Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.—died February 11, 1963, London, England), American poet whose best-known works, such as the poems “Daddy” and “Lady Lazarus” and the novel The Bell Jar, starkly express a sense of alienation and self-destruction closely tied to her personal experiences and, by extension, the situation of women in mid-20th-century America.
Plath published her first poem at age eight. She entered and won many literary contests, and, while still in high school, she sold her first poem to The Christian Science Monitor and her first short story to Seventeen magazine. She entered Smith College on a scholarship in 1951 and was a cowinner of the Mademoiselle magazine fiction contest in 1952. At Smith Plath achieved considerable artistic, academic, and social success, but she also suffered from severe depression, attempted suicide, and underwent a period of psychiatric hospitalization. She graduated from Smith with highest honours in 1955 and went on to Newnham College in Cambridge, England, on a Fulbright fellowship. In 1956 she married the English poet Ted Hughes; they had two children. The couple separated in 1962, after Hughes’s affair with another woman.
During 1957–58 Plath was an instructor in English at Smith College. In 1960, shortly after she returned to England with Hughes, her first collection of poems appeared as The Colossus, which received good reviews. Her novel, The Bell Jar, was published in London in 1963 under the pseudonym Victoria Lucas. Strongly autobiographical, the book describes the mental breakdown and eventual recovery of a young college girl and parallels Plath’s own breakdown and hospitalization in 1953.
During her last three years Plath abandoned the restraints and conventions that had bound much of her early work. She wrote with great speed, producing poems of stark self-revelation and confession. The anxiety, confusion, and doubt that haunted her were transmuted into verses of great power and pathos borne on flashes of incisive wit. Her poem “Daddy” and several others explore her conflicted relationship with her father, Otto Plath, who died when she was age eight. In 1963, after this burst of productivity, she took her own life.
Ariel (1965)—a collection of Plath’s later poems that included “Daddy” and another of her well-known poems, “Lady Lazarus” —sparked the growth of a much broader following of devoted and enthusiastic readers than she had during her lifetime. Ariel received a review in The New York Times that praised its “relentless honesty,” “sophistication of the use of rhyme,” and “bitter force,” and Poetry magazine noted “a pervasive impatience, a positive urgency to the poems.” Plath quickly became one of the most popular American poets. The appearance of small collections of previously unpublished poems, including Crossing the Water (1971) and Winter Trees (1971), was welcomed by critics and the public alike. The Bell Jar was reissued in Great Britain under her own name in 1966, and it was published in the United States for the first time in 1971. Johnny Panic and the Bible of Dreams, a book of short stories and prose, was published in 1977.
The Collected Poems, which includes many previously unpublished poems, appeared in 1981 and received the 1982 Pulitzer Prize for poetry, making Plath the first to receive the honour posthumously. A book for children that she had written in 1959, The It-Doesn’t-Matter Suit, was published in 1996. Interest in Plath and her works continued into the 21st century. She had kept a journal for much of her life, and in 2000 The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath, covering the years from 1950 to 1962, was published. A biographical film of Plath starring Gwyneth Paltrow (Sylvia) appeared in 2003. In 2009 Plath’s radio play Three Women (1962) was staged professionally for the first time. A volume of Plath’s letters, written in 1940–56, was published in 2017. A second collection—which contained her later letters, including a number of candid notes to her psychiatrist—appeared the following year. In 2019 the story Mary Ventura and the Ninth Kingdom, written in 1952, was published for the first time.
Many of Plath’s posthumous publications were compiled by Hughes, who became the executor of her estate. However, controversy surrounded both the estate’s management of her work’s copyright and his editing practices, especially when he revealed that he had destroyed the last journals written prior to her suicide.

Dipping an oar in familiar fandom waters...
Last weekend we watched, or I should say, got around to watching, Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, a BBC America show from last year which we were reluctant to check out at first under the mistaken impression that it would be another US copy of a UK property in the vein of Coupling, Skins, Being Human, etc. But after it came out we saw from other people's reactions that actually everyone seemed to love it, and when we finally did watch it we loved it too, so I've been poking around for things to reblog on and off for a week now.
It feels funny in several ways to be fannish about a show with Elijah Wood in it again...
Nostalgic. Fellowship of the Ring came out in 2001! @waxjism and I MET because of Elijah Wood, really, when she sought me out because of a Frodo/Sam and then a Sean/Elijah fic. The whole time we were long-distance dating, she was talking about The Faculty and something about Elijah Wood being chained in Chester Bennington's basement, for some reason (I'm not sure I ever really understood that one, though, to be fair). And it's been a long time! Neither of us has been actually interested in either of those fandoms since before 2005, a few rereads and recs and the like notwithstanding.
SURREAL. The inescapable association of Elijah Wood + fandom... the tangential connection to the dangerous con artist and noted fandom cult leader formerly known as Victoria Bitter, who, as chronicled in the well-known fandom memoir When a Fan Hits the Shit, later briefly posed online as Elijah Wood for... some unknown reason... (I think for a brief time before he told people that he was channeling the 'soul' of the real Elijah Wood even though Elijah Wood was still alive and therefore physically growing a cock?)... and for some reason @waxjism and I, old acquaintances who were close to one of his primary online friend/dupes, were chosen to be guinea pigs for this pose and for like... a week?? we thought he possibly actually was Elijah Wood with a side dose of what the hell is going on, and during this time he... for some reason... sent me a care package of cough drops because I had a cold, I guess to prove realness?? He also like ordered pizzas delivered to the residences of some of the other people he was long-distance trying to Be Elijah Wood on, if I'm remembering right? Anyway... wow... that was an insane time! Like, our dangerous??? but also laughably minor??? brush with fandom history.
Embarrassed: because of having believed him, or maybe like 80% believed him for a while there. But as @waxjism  succinctly put it, "Then again, he is a con artist. But AUGH." Also embarrassed because if I think about my previous fannish engagement hard enough, I'll remember how I wrote when I was 19 years old, which is also kind of embarrassing from the perspective of my current taste (though, like, I stand by it as perfectly ok for 19-year-old me). Like, for example, when my dad asked my permission to give his best friend, who is gay, the link to my LOTR fanfic, and I said sure, and then his best friend attempted to delicately and tactfully make sure that I knew that "that's not really how gay sex works" after reading one of my Legolas/Gimli fics, and I had to be like "YES YES LUBE WE KNOW NO TMI PLEASE".
Damn, I feel old. Because a lot of time has passed and people like Elijah Wood that are the age of me are now firmly grown ups. Just like I am.
Anyway, back to Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency... I highly recommend the show, which is delightful and probably a bit more Adamsishly madcap than the previous British series that starred Stephen Mangan (which I also loved however). The plotting particularly is A+, not because the other aspects of the show like dialogue and casting are not as outstanding - they are, actually; the main cast is half female and there's an okay distribution of racial and gender diversity, the dialogue is fun and clever, the special effects are not to be sneezed at, there are cute animals etc - but because the plotting is the aspect of a derivative work based on Douglas Adams that would be the most challenging to manage (just as it is for Terry Pratchett or PG Wodehouse fanfic, where that is the most common tough point, evidently, for would-be fanfic writers), and yet they manage it beautifully. It's not at all derivative or unnecessarily repetitive of canon Douglas works, while dazzlingly recreating the feel and scope and all that good stuff.
They've already filmed the second series, too, and they just released a trailer for it a little while ago, so it's probably going to air soonish. Which makes this a good time to try it out.

Song Here- (X)
Big thanks to @imdoingathingmom and @bbibbisan for doing a sensitivity read!
* This could be worse, you remind yourself as you feed your deer
* Much, much worse
* “How much am I supposed to give them?” The tall, ebony colored man says from beside you, his bright red eyes seem to glow under the pale moonlight
* “Um.. for that one, you can feed it as much kale as you want, but be careful James, he’s kinda insatiable. He’ll eat your clothes if you give him the chance”
* James nods, tearing the kale in careful ribbons.
* He smiles when the deer eats right out of his palm.
* You’re not going to lie, you were 100% surprised when the blond turned out to be Laurent and the black guy was James
* You were even more surprised when he asked if he could help you feed your animals
* You watch him smile as he gives the deer a gentle pat, feeding it more kale
* Yeah, you’re having a hard time believing the teddy bear in front of you is some psychopath tracker
* The story went that while you and Edward were out, the coven decided to play some baseball up in the mountains, and the sound caught their attention as they were passing through
* Apparently this was a fast friends situation, because Carlisle and Laurent have been reminiscing about their geezer pre-colonialism days
* You look to the house, you can see Edward’s inside from the window, his eyes meet yours and he gives you a small smile
* Well that seems hopeful
* “I used to take animals before I turned” James’s deep voice calls you back to the situation at hand
* “Oh were you a farm hand?” You’re peeling an orange, which Henrietta the third is already licking at impatiently
* “Um, not quite, I was a slave”
* You stop peeling the orange
* James tells you his story- he was a third generation slave, fathered from the master, his mother passed away shortly after his birth
* “I was lucky- in a sense, the master -my father- he was a superstitious man, and my mother- she had a reputation”
* His mother was a slave in name only, was what he told you. She was more of a mistress or a concubine.
* “At least that’s what they said, Though I’m not sure how much of that is true, I’m fairly certain she didn’t enjoy being with him. She was just trying to survive”
* His mother had been ostracized, even amongst others like them, but not because of her social position in the household
* “They thought she was a witch,” he admitted. “Bad things happened to people who wronged her, and good things happened to those who helped her”
* That sounds like Alec and Jane
* “When she was on her death bed, she laid a “curse” on the owner of the plantation, that if I wasn’t taken care of she would haunt him and bring misfortune on the entire family for several generations”
* And so, James became the unfavorable third son of the Pickett family.
* “I had many opportunities from her sacrifice, I learned to read and write, but I was more or less shunned from the house- both by my family and by the other slaves”
* It was lonely, almost painful.
* “But there was one thing, a ray of light-“ his eyes flit towards the window, and you follow his gaze to the red haired woman in the green chair
* “Victoria, she was my eldest brothers fiancé”
* The youngest daughter of the wealthiest man in town, from the outside she was a blossoming socialite
* The most beautiful girl in town
* But behind closed doors...
* Victoria was the product of an affair, a mistresses child, reluctantly brought into the household when her mother passed
* “She had big dreams, she loved to read, she yearned to study, to educate herself, to use her mind”
* And so, two lost souls found each other
* “Our family would never have allowed it. So we decided to run away together” he smiles, but it’s bitter.
* They claimed he had abducted her, perhaps to save face, and sent slave catchers to find them.
* “I’m not quite sure what happened-I remember being shot and telling Victoria to go in without me- all I ever wanted was for her to be happy.”
* This is heartbreaking
* “When I woke up, Laurent was there, and my throat burned”
* So Laurent had been with them for all that time, he was their creator
* “Afterwards the three of us worked in ‘the underground railroad’ helping slaves to the north where they could be free”
* “I’m thankful to him, for saving us, we wouldn’t have been able to be in a world where we could be together if it weren’t for him-“
* “But you wonder what the trade off is” you finish and he nods
* No longer human
* Purpose only lasts so long in this life, after all human life only has meaning because you know one day it will end
* “I found a penchant for tracking, it turns out what they said about my mother might have held some truth”
* James calls it “extreme luck”, there’s no other word for his gift.
* If he’s looking for something - or someone- it’ll inevitably find him through pure luck. Like the world bends to his will
* But it only works with finding things
* “These days we work as bounty hunters, and we only feed from people beyond redemption”
* Murder and rapists it sounds like
* “I didn’t know there was another way”
* “That’s understandable, I didn’t know either until I met Carlisle” he looks at you with kind eyes, and so with a deep breath you tell him your story
* About the Volturi, your parents, Alec and Jane-
* “I think you would like them, they’re a little off putting at first, but they warm up pretty fast”
* “Like cats” he says
* “Like cats” you agree
* You tell him about meeting Carlisle, how he saved you,
* how Eleazer gave you a home and a family,
* and about Edward, who gave you a chance to live
* Not just to survive, but to truly live
* “We’re not so different you and I” James says with a smile, and you mirror his expression
* “No we aren’t”
* Though of course you wouldn’t compare the relatively privileged life you had to his
* But the loneliness you both experienced is not all that different
* The tie that binds you all
* And then you do something you’ve never done before
* “You know, I don’t belong to this coven, not really” it’s the first time you’ve admitted it to anyone
* “Oh?”
* “My coven is in Denali, they have a permanent settlement there, and they follow the er... same alternative lifestyle”
* He laughs
* “I’m sure they would love two or three more, we’ve got like thirteen spare rooms in that house”
* You still remember the antiquated scooby Doo mansion-esque hallways filled with armor and swords
* He looks at you for a long time, but it doesn’t make you uncomfortable
* “I won’t follow another leader”
* You nod, that’s understandable.
* Laurent created them, and it seems he’s happy with their current lifestyle, they won’t betray him
* “Not unless it’s you”
* ........
* What?!?!
* “M-me?” You sputter, your orange peel filled hand clutching your chest
* “Why would you want to follow me? I’m only nineteen years old- I don’t even have a high school degree yet!”
* He laughs at your panicked expression
* “You know that doesn’t matter to our kind,” his eyes twinkle as he looks at you.
* “Call it witchcraft if you like, but you’re going to accomplish great things, I can feel it deep in my bones”
* Garrett had said the same thing, but the way James says it-
* You really believe it.
* He doesn’t want anything from you you, not a kiss or a date-
* He just wants to be your friend, to be apart of your vision
* Whatever it may be
* “Here’s my card-“
* He holds out his business card to you, unlike Garett’s it’s a cheap cardboard white with his profession and number on the front
* “If you ever find yourself in need of someone to help with your animals, let me know”
* You nod, taking his card in your hands
* “Um there’s one more thing I could use your help with-“
* He points to the large window, right at Alice
* “I know that girl but she doesn’t seem to know me.”
* “Well how does that work”
* He tells you how many years ago, a woman was looking for her sister.
* “It was a bit of a Cinderella story”
* The woman’s father had remarried quickly after his wife’s death, and the step mother had sent his children away. The younger sibling, his client, was lucky and was sent to a relative.
* But the older, who had suspected something amiss had happened to her mother, was sent to a mental asylum
* “You know me, I find things, it’s my gift.”
* But when he found the girl, she was no longer human. Already turned.
* “I tried to approach her, but she didn’t seem to remember anything”
* “Alice doesn’t have any of her memories from before she turned, she woke up in the woods all alone”
* The only thing guiding her were her visions.
* James nods solemnly
* “Should I...should I tell her?”
* You look to Alice.
* She’s smiling at something Victoria said.
* How many nights has she spent wondering who she really was, feeling so happy she had a family and a partner, but wondering if she left someone behind
* How would she feel when she found out?
* “I think you should tell her.”
* If it was you, even if it hurt, you would want to know
* James nods
* “Okay”
* You walk inside together, and immediately look to Edward
* Your own personal vampire lie detector
* “He did lie about one thing-“ Edward tells you once James pulls Alice aside.
* Was he actually tracking Alice to hunt her?
* Your heart drops at the thought
* “His mother didn’t die from natural causes, she committed suicide because she knew it would secure his future” Edward tells you with a somber expression.
* “He just didn’t want you to feel bad”
* You smile and nod.
* What a strong person, you can’t even imagine
* Edward pulls you into his arms, placing a soft kiss in your hair
* You feel bitter sweet about the whole thing
* Especially as you watch them leave in the morning, right before you’re going to head off to school
* Jasper is holding Alice who seems vulnerable, but relieved
* They’re leaving so soon, you didn’t even get a chance to get to talk to Victoria or Laurent
* You watch James stand next to Victoria, they’re talking to Carlisle.
* They’re not even touching, but you can feel the intimacy radiate off of them
* You wonder if maybe you and Edward might get to be that close one day
* James meets your gaze and smiles
* “I’ll see you around sometime leader!” He calls out, earning confused looks from your coven and his
* You smile back and give him a nod
* You’re still not sure what your future holds
* But you know you wouldn’t have gotten this far if it weren’t for the kindness of others
* You want to make them proud
* And then in a gust of wind, he’s gone
* They all are
* “See, I didn’t commit murder or anything, I told you things were different” Edward says with a teasing smile
* You roll your eyes and lightly shove him while he just laughs
* He’s right though, that was different
* “Enough flirting kids, you’re going to be late for school, and I really don’t want to deal with that dick in the front office acting all high and mighty because they think I can’t control my children” Esme yells
* School?
* Oh sh*t you didn’t do your homework
* “Edward-“
* “I’ll drive and tell you the answers on the way there” he says catching the keys you toss to him
* “It’s the-“
* “The Trig homework, I know. It’s your worst subject”
* Well you do struggle with trig quite a bit
* “Though to be fair you’re pretty terrible at all of them”
* He barks laughing when you shove him before getting into the car through the passenger side
* Carlisle and Esme watch you from the doorstep
* “They’re so good together-“ Esme starts
* “I know, I never thought our Edward would look at anyone like that”
* Carlisle and Esme exchange a look
* Before you came around-
* Well it wasn’t bad, but he certainly didn’t look like that.
* And he never smiled like that either
* Immortality had hardened him, made him into a man
* But with you-
* Well, with you he looks just like a boy
* A boy in love for the first time
* “I wonder what kind of children they might have had” Esme wonders with a small grin
* Him, with his ability to read minds, and you with that positively monstrous power of yours
* Any number of possibilities is possible
* “Best not to think of such things” Carlisle murmurs
* Though you two may be together for eternity, with the endless options, you’ll never have that.
* Esme nods
* “I’m late to get to the hospital, surgery this morning” he mumbles kissing her on the cheek before walking to the car
* She watches him go, his sleek white Volvo disappearing down the road before looking up to the sky
* “What a shame, I would have liked a cute grandchild or two running around” she mumbles to herself before turning to go inside
* “Entertaining always leaves me exhausted, guess I’ll give my employees the day off”

Mhmmmmm just thinking about Victoria getting pregnant by Sonny… they’ve been having their affair for a while by then and absolutely in love with each other and have such hot steamy sex but also soft romantic sex, Victoria being the only woman who could ever settle Sonny… and she decides she isn’t that bothered if she did become pregnant by him as there are redheads in her side of the family so she could easily have a redhead baby too… The great thing is that nobody notices or realizes the affair or secret relationship between them… Victoria can’t get enough of Sonny and she loves his huge cock so much that when Michael fucks her she wishes it was Sonny… they do have an affair baby though and it’s a little girl Luciana who looks just like her mamma and as Sonny and Victoria can’t get enough of each other she ends up pregnant again by him and it’s a little boy called Angelo (the saint’s son is the angel get it?) and he looks like a mix of Victoria, Vito and Giuseppe and takes his height from Sonny but Victoria says it’s from her side of the family as her brothers are tall
The Victonny prompt of all Victonny prompts… 😶😶 The request in itself says more than I can ever possibly summarize here. 😅 What can I say except enjoy to all of you eager Victonny shippers? 🥵😈 But also… Oh my God, I honestly had to re-read this submission over twice because there is SOMETHING in this prompt related to the canon fic coming up in the next chapter of Moth to Flame: Part II. 😅😂
“Oh my G-God,” a barely audible whimper passes your lips as you keep your arms wrapped around Sonny’s shoulders—still wincing from the aftermath of your last orgasm.
With Sonny’s cock still buried ten inches deep into your pussy, the two of you gaze at one another through lazy eyes—dazed from shockwaves of pleasure.
As both of you attempt to catch your breaths, an intimate silence follows through as both you and Sonny look into each other’s eyes.
Six months into this affair with no regrets, no remorse and certainly no guilt, Sonny looks down not just to see his sister-in-law whom he’s always appreciated and had been close to, but the woman of his dreams; the woman whom Sonny secretly wishes was also the woman of his life.
It’s no longer about sneakily meeting up or inconspicuously making plans to see each other and warm each other’s beds, but a blossoming absolute love solidified by both of your mutual feelings.
Sonny only breaks eye contact with you for a split second to glance down and watch himself slowly pull out of you, prompting a little whine from you as Sonny’s cum oozes out of you instantly—filled up with four rounds of sloppy, messy, unprotected sex and your brother-in-law’s cum instead of your husband’s.
Sonny may as well have redefined the word “affair” for you, because you certainly wouldn’t use it’s current meaning to describe the bond the two of you have formed throughout half of the year.
What spouted from loneliness, desperation to be loved and adored while experiencing nothing but the bitter sting of being touch starved resulted in what you thought would just be a harmless one-night stand instead resulted in an affair past just sex.
Santino “Selfish” Corleone as Sandra calls her husband in bed—or at least did right up until Sonny stop sleeping with Sandra entirely and anyone else for that matter—Sonny became the opposite of whatever anyone told you, joking or not.
Sonny knows how to tease and please and if anything, he’s selfless in bed—prioritizing your pleasure over his first, always.
The sex never had to be a rough quick fuck to release sexual frustration; Sonny is neither just an outlet for you to use and you’re not just a hole to him either.
The soft, romantic nights spent with one another curled up over the satin bedsheets, breathily giggling, making sweet, gentle love to one another speaks enough to say just to what degree your affair has gotten to now with Sonny.
Sonny’s no longer just a distraction to you away from thoughts like guilt, remorse or even fear of being caught, but his presence and the thought of Sonny alone is enough to keep you calm and reassured you’ll be continuing your affair to your heart’s extend however you want it.
Michael isn’t a thought when you’re with Sonny one way or another. Whatever guilt or remorse you felt after your one-night stand with Sonny in New York died out a few days only to never return; something solidified the second time you and Sonny slept with one another.
Sonny’s a man who didn’t even settle for his own wife but he’d move mountains for you with his bare hands if you asked him to.
For you, he’d settle for the rest of his life if it meant he could hold you in his arms longer, and without having to do it somewhere so secluded and planned out.
In the embrace and presence of one another, all thoughts of consequence and repercussion cease to exist.
You both live a double life of intimacy and love but simply don’t care anymore; this is what you and Sonny want.
The two of you have never touched a condom either, to begin with. You don’t mind at all if Sonny impregnates you whether on purpose or accidentally—you’ll have him whenever, however, safe day or not.
You have plenty of redheads and curly haired nieces and nephews on your side of the family after all, and while keeping a regular sex life with Michael like nothing between you and Sonny exists to begin with, nobody can possibly question another pregnancy from you.
Six months in, there hasn’t been a single curious ear or eye on the two of you. No suspicions or curiosity raised whatsoever, giving you and Sonny ample privacy and opportunity to continue your affair.
You may be living a double life with two men—fucking one, married to another—but you certainly aren’t living a lie.
This is your truth and Sonny’s truth—it’s what you want, what you need and crave then and now onwards.
“I want you, I want you, I want you, baby.” Sonny groaned loudly, gripping your hips down to his as he let you bounce up and down on his cock. “Yes, yes, yes—fuck!”
With your cum gushing down Sonny’s cock yet again, you throw your head back and let yourself revel in the pleasure—being as loud as you want. “Oh my G-God, harder! YES! Sonny, YES! Right there, fuck me, fuck me!”
Sonny could already see the outline of his cock bulging through your pelvis, pushing through and abusing your cervix again and again.
That “monster cock” as Sandra called it and wanted nothing to do with brought you to the heights of ecstasy without fail each and every time.
The tip of Sonny’s cock already hit your G-Spot with every thrust and Sonny knew just how to get you in to a cumming, moaning mess by working his fingers over your clit while he fucked you at the same time.
‘Sonny… Santino…’ Your mind would easily cross back to Sonny when you had your thighs wrapped around Michael’s waist, having sex with your husband but imagining his brother fucking you instead—wishing oh so badly how it should be Sonny instead.
Of course, neither you nor Sonny were surprised with the news of your pregnancy and only the two of you knew it was his and your baby instead of Michael’s—a secret that would stay a secret forever.
It made no difference to you and if anything, only brought more joy to the family to welcome a fifth child and your second daughter at that.
Sonny loved the name Luciana for a girl and teased you enough about it when you’d barely be able to stand and get out of bed with all of Sonny’s cum trickling down your thigh, so it was also the same name you chose to name your newborn daughter.
Despite being an out of wedlock affair baby, you and Sonny certainly didn’t think so nor were there any further or new growing suspicions either.
“She looks just like you,” Michael chuckled, unaware he was holding his brother’s daughter in his arms instead of his own. “She’s beautiful, Victoria.”
The second pregnancy coming six months later was just the icing on the cake. It made Michael happy to see how eager you were to have your family grow again despite the fact you were carrying Sonny’s child for the second time.
You gave birth to your fourth son whom you named Angelo nine months later and while the baby’s looks were from a mix of Victoria’s family such as your eyes, Vito’s smile and Giuseppe’s nose, you already had the perfect excuse for height related questions in the future.
There was no doubt your son and daughter would both be much taller than your biological children with Michael, but it was undeniable that all of your brothers are very tall to begin with.
There stands to be nothing to question your affair or the legitimacy of your two new children joining the family back to back. Michael suspects and knows nothing, just as it should be and both you and Sonny refuse to break off the endless desire and passion the two of you have for one another.

Navigation for Mobile Users!
Hi! If you have been directed here from my Tiktok account, (@piqtescue) here are my main resources for the information I post.
*95% of my research pertains to British Columbia region*
FOR LEGAL/GOVERNMENT DOCUMENTS:
Google Ngram: A very good tool when wanting to see specific terms in graph form + find publically available government documents in mass.
*if not seeing “search in google books” option below graph, re-search term again*
Sessional Papers of The Dominion of Canada (1868-1900): “ Sessional Papers are reports tabled in the House of Commons and published as a set of volumes for each parliamentary session. The reports cover agriculture, banking, trade and commerce, Indian affairs, public lands, railways, and other matters of national concern.”
I have gotten a lot of information from these but kept in mind (as you should too) that these papers are written by the people who actively repressed and destroyed indigenous lives. This is a non-indigenous perspective but includes data about dwindling population and land titles.
The NCTR Archives and Collections: {excerpt from the website} “ Here, Survivors, their families, educators, researchers, and the public can examine the residential school system more deeply with the goal of fostering reconciliation and healing.”
*I have just come to find this website but it is a great first start in educating yourself on the history and outcome of residential schools in Canada.*
FOR HISTORY ON COLONIZATION/INDIGENOUS OPRESSION IN BRITISH COLUMBIA:
Indian Residential School History & Dialogue Centre (IRSHDC): Another main resource of mine. Extensive database of records, media, and residential school locations.
British Colonist Newspaper Archive (Times Colonist): EVERY issue available for free from 1858-1980. One of my main resources for finding out certain historical events, land theft and policies related to Indigenous Oppression in the province of British Columbia. Specific ‘search by term’ option available.
[[*READ WITH CAUTION* as certain language, ideologies and events can be very upsetting and/or triggering to some. Please keep in mind respectful language of that era is completely different and you will need to search accordingly.]]
The BC Archives: Might be hard to navigate when using search filters or trying to find specific documents/photos. I use this for finding information on how the lands of Indigenous people’s have changed drastically due to gentrification and infrastructure and also historic photos pertaining to Indigenous culture.
[[*IMPORTANT* Please use this help guide for navigating the archives. Click the “research orientation guide” to find out how the archives store their documents and check out the “Research Guides by Subject” to narrow what you’re looking for. I HIGHLY recommend physically going to the archives location in downtown Victoria, though.]]
OTHER GREAT RESOURCES FOR EDUCATION ON RESIDENTIAL SCHOOLS/OPRESSION OF INDIGENOUS PEOPLE IN BC:
First People’s Map of BC: Have you ever wondered whose territory you live on? This map can show you that and so much more.
History of The Douglas Treaties (or The Fort Victoria Treaties): The British Colonists (HBC) of Vancouver Island (Victoria) created 14 “treaties” with the people of southern Vancouver Island that was intended as a land purchase but was not explained or relayed that way to the nations of the island AT ALL. This is how the province’s capital and surrounding area came to be what it is today.
The Douglas Treaties (extended): A students work guide about the treaties but has great sources and stories from Chief David Latasse, a man who was there during these treaties. Good read. These set of treaties are of personal interest to me because Vancouver Island is my home and just in my short span of life, I’ve watched the natural beauty of it decay just like it did in all the years before I came to it. Please check out the Fairy Creek Protests for more info on how this island is getting destroyed before our very eyes.
*File comes from a database called “The Governors Letters: Uncovering Colonial British Columbia*
WILL UPDATE WITH MORE RESOURCES SOON!
"ABOUT ME” UNDER THE CUT
Because of the topic of my research, I just want to clarify that I am not Indigenous- I descend from Ukrainian immigrants and am only a fourth generation Canadian. My name is Shin and I’ve lived on MÁLEXEȽ (Malahat) nation land all my life (and a brief few months on SXIMEȽEȽ (Songhees) land. From a very young age, I have been aware of the racism that flows through not only my valley, but my country. From the stories my Indigenous family members have shared with me to the disgusting slurs and treatment thrown around my schools by my peers- I have seen a horrendous display of cruelty and ignorance in my province.
Another reason I am very passionate about diminishing Indigenous racism and oppression is my home and the land it is situated upon. I didn’t enter the cities or towns much and grew up low income, and sometimes was put into unsafe matters. The land I live upon fed my family when we couldn’t afford to, gave me safe places to reside, provided me wood for heating my home in the bitter winters and fresh snow for water when the pipes were frozen. I owe the lands I live upon my entire life and yet- I've spent 20 years sitting by and watching it be logged and logged and logged. For homes, the EVER EXPANDING Malahat Highway and subdivisions. I watched first hand the modern destruction of the forest I live in and the displacement/deaths of HUNDREDS of wildlife. It has always killed and disgusted me that such a sacred, beautiful land was taken from the nation it belongs to and I dream of a world where my home is protected and valued for what it is.
Through the publication of my research, I hope to inform others about the severity of destroyed and logged lands, Indigenous oppression history and how it was implemented in our province and country. Thank you for taking the time to watch my posts.
