I got inspo from the latest chapters of The Villainess Reverse The Hourglass — How about the charas from TVRTH reacts if their kid with the reader from the future suddenly appears?

If you don't mind, i would want them to not have a relationship with reader at that point. Maybe just a slight crush or intrest but mo established relationships.

The light glow of sun was hidden by the large, silk curtains as you and your best friend was sitting on their bed as you both did one of your favorite past-times, as you both continued to comment and talk about the recent trends in the society, there was a little knock on the door, as you got up and opened the door, there stood your dear friend’s most trusted servant, but they seemed to be accompanied by someone else behind them, it was a beautiful person with luscious hair and gleaming eyes, and somehow they looked similar to a certain person you know, but you just couldn’t place an idea upon how it could be….As you both invited them in, your friend’s servant informed you both about them being hurt in the palace grounds, and upon mention of your names it asked to stay with you. Now as you, your dear friend, and this person were sitting in their bedroom, in dead silence before……

Aria Roscente

“Uhm…Weird question, would you mind telling us who you are?” You heard Aria question the young girl, named Rosalie, who looked as she was only 13, the young girl immediately looked down before mumbling something you were able to somehow make out, “You both wouldn’t believe me….”, “Why wouldn’t we believe you, dear?” You asked the little girl who had long luscious blonde hair and big, calm (e/c) eyes…”Because well, I’m your future daughter…” You heard her reply, this is not what you were expecting, as you looked over at Aria, she didn’t seem shocked like you, instead she seemed upset about something, yet she replied with “Hmm, I was actually expecting this; she does look a lot like you and she is quite pretty like you, Y/N…” Aria said, sadness evident in her voice…

As you conversed with the girl, Aria heart kept sinking to the bottom, she realized that you will never choose her, even if she turns back the time again and again, as she looked over to the box where she kept her hourglass, she hoped to turn back the time where the girl never told you both she was your daughter, but Aria would still remember the painful detail of you having a destined lover who is not her.

Upon noticing the look on her face you also felt your heart breaking, you loved her dearly and you were also upset learning about your daughter, but what could you do? As you turned back to your daughter you inspected her closely trying to see if your lover was somebody you knew, you noticed her hair was long and wavy and she had sharper features .as you leaned closer to your daughter and tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear while she talked, you saw a barely noticeable mole on her ear lobe, as you quickly whipped your head towards Aria, shocking both Rosalie and Aria at your action as you immediately stood up, holding your daughter’s hand before you sat her down near Aria and compared their features, leaning dangerously close to Aria’s face, making her flustered and flush into an adorable shade of pink.

Before, she could process anything, you put your palm and hid Rosalie’s eyes before kissing Aria right on her lips, catching both of them off-guard, as you pushed Rosalie’s face away and pointed towards the door indicating you wanted her out, she immediately got the hint covering you both from her view and running out the door, while you put both your arms on Aria’s waist and pulled her on your lap, while Aria was still frozen, not knowing how to act, as she slowly calmed down and kissed you back. You both continued to kiss, only pulling apart for millisecond intervals to let yourselves breathe before kissing again. Finally pulling apart for real, there was a string of drool connecting your mouths, as you gripped her chin to tilt her chin up to look at her face, all flushed pink with drool on her lips along with a love-sick look in her eyes. Aria felt immense embarrassment and again turned her eyes down before trying to shift off your lap, but your grip on her waist tightened and again brought her back to her previous position, as you called Rosalie in.

While you conversed with Rosalie, along with Aria in your lap who was hiding her face by burying it in your neck, you confirmed with Rosalie that Aria was truly her mother and your wife in the future. As you three talked throughout the day getting to know each-other, you learnt that Rosalie was born a weak child and so you and Aria were quite protective of her, you both were very worried about her travelling back to the past, but later on agreed to let her do so, but she had to return by evening, so upon the time for Rosalie to leave, you were pretty sure Aria was crying a few tears as you reminded her that you will surely be seeing her again in the future….~

Mielle Roscente

“uhm…I know this is hard to believe and I ask of you to not freak out but I’m actually your child…” the young girl said, while closing her eyes and gripping her skirt tightly, while one hand is extended to show you a tiny bracelet given to you by your mother and you had never showed it to anyone. As you comprehended what the child had said and showed, you immediately stood up and sat down near her, and hugged her tightly, leaving Mielle shocked and to her own senses, as she comprehended what the girl said, this girl was your daughter?!

As Mielle looked at the girl’s features, she saw they were very similar to Aria’s, and her eyes were also green just like her’s and Aria’s, did-did you reject her and marry Aria in the future?....

‘No, it can’t be right, Aria knew I liked them and she still did this in the future? But why?.... We both are on good terms with each-other, though we don’t see each-other often, since she found her real father…..Can it be the reason for her betrayal……” Mielle kept thinking how Aria betrayed her, but there was still hope for her to still be friends with you, right? As she looked at you and your daughter, Rialiara, talk with each-other on what the future looks for you and your family, as she Mielle continued to cry on the inside with her dear sister taking her love away.

As you and Rialiara continued to talk about the future, you felt Mielle scoot closer to you and whisper in your ear "Hey..Can we talk..?" In a voice, which was laced with sadness. Of-course, you agreed, though before you asked Rialiara to go out, Mielle stood up and sat near her before stroking her hair and asking her, "Ria, dear..If it's okay, who's your mother?" Mielle asked, definitely upset about the outcome being her sister.

"Oh! Yeah, sorry I didn't tell you both, but I honestly though you both are dating mom!" Rialiara bursted out, all smiling and beaming at you both, making Mielle immediately whip her head towards you and your daughter again and again, until she saw that your daughter's eyes weren't having a yellow tint Aria and her father had, but more of a blue tint, she had. Her hair was more straight than Aria and though they were the same colour as your hair, there was no denying it now that this girl was your and Mielle's daughter!

Mielle's eyes, which were holding back tears, now started flooding up with tears, as you and both of your mini version looked at her with worry seeing her tear up as you both put one of your hands on each one of the shoulders and scooted closer to her, as she looked at you both and smiled before engulfing you both in a tight hug. As you and your child hugged her back, Mielle realized that this is what her future is going to feel like...

Asterope Franz

"Uhm....If I'm not wrong, you're from the future....Right?" Asher suddenly asked the young, pre-teen boy, breaking the silence. The boy seemed shock for a moment before nodding as though he expected this. As you examined the boy more carefully trying to understand who was this person related to, as you get familiar vibes from him..

But you curious, you ask Asher, "How do you know he's from the future?"

"Oh, uhm a friend of mine has this talent for turning time and yeah...I saw him once when we accidentally went to the future.." Asher replied shyly as you nodded your head. "So who are you dear? Star from the beginning, please."

The boy nodded and introduced himself, "Uhm, I'm Elenoir, the prince of this empire, and..." The boy hesitated by looking at your smile, he continued "your son..." The boy blushed a bit before answering. Those words shocked you and Asher as your eyes widened and your mouth gaped a bit as you covered your mouth and tried to hide your surprise....

"WHAT?!" Asher and you both yelled in unison making the boy cover his ears and shy away giggling mischievously. As you both processed this news and as you brain's clogs finally work you both turned to look at each-other. As you moved your head with were met with Asher's face very close to you, your nose nearly touching as you both blushed heavily as you both froze up staring into each-other's eyes...

As you both broke out of your trance the boy was smiling at you both, so you asked him, "Now, my dear.Why are you here??" This sentence changed his mood completely as he looked guilty ..."I can't say these things to my parents, but I hope I can request you..."..He said hesitantly as you both slowly nodded your heads as he took a deep breathe.."I don't want to be the heir of the throne..." The little boy says, making you and Asher confused

"Huh, why??" Asher asked worriedly, panicking on the inside a bit, "Did I put too much pressure on you??" "Were you attacked?" "Do you hate being a royalty???" Asher and you asked questions after questions worried for the child, the child denied your thoughts as he says, "I'm the elder child, but I have a younger sister, who is younger than me by a few months, I'm the heir to the throne and I'm the one training to be the emperor...but I don't want to take up the responsibility to the throne, rather my sister wishes to be the heir, she says she is ready to take up responsibility of throne as the empress and would like to help her subject, so maybe if it's okay can you make her the heir???" Elenoir asked as he rubbed the back of his neck, seemingly worried and concerned for not only your answers but also because he seemed to care for his sister a lot.

"Of-course, that's completely fine!!" You and Asher say smiling yet non nonchalantly making Elenior perk up in surprise and happiness, "REALLY?! YOU BOTH MEAN IT!??!" You and Asher nodded your head, before you asked,

"Hey, but why are so afraid to ask your parents that you came back in time to us, who aren't in a relationship yet??" you ask making Elenior shy away in thoughts a bit before turning red with embarrassment

"Ah, the thing is you both praise how good of an emperor I would be, I kind of forgot how accepting you both are of me...I should go back, they must be getting worried about me gone and tell them about how I feel, thanks for the talk, younger mom and dad!!" Elenior said opening up a portal before hurriedly jumping through, but not before hugging you btoh tightly and kissing you cheeks, it was a cute moment.

Just before the portal closed, Elenior popped out again and gave you a photo, saying, "I think you'd like to see us, I'm Elenior Franz the eldest son, with my younger siblings, Orien, the middle sister with the angry face, Werin, the cute boy with the white strand in his hair and Reliaou, the youngest boy!! I should leave, bye!!!" Elenior say hurriedly explaining his family and his sibling before running and jumping through the portal again, as it closed completely behind him with a bright light.

With Elenior gone, you both looked at the photo of a more mature and elegant versions of you with Elenior near you, a pretty young girl with very long hair whose face made it look like she was angry, but ti was just her resting bitch face.

Then there was a boy who was the same age as her, but had a strand of white hair in his hair as he smiled, then a boy sitting on your lap. It was a cute family, but how should you and Asher look into each other's eyes after this, knowing you both are married and have FOUR kids?!

Oscar Fredrick

You, Oscar and the little boy stayed in the room in silence before the boy spoke up, "Uhm, so I'm your child from the future, please don't panic...." The little boy said freezing up and closing his eyes as the realization dawned upon you both...While you shyly introduced yourself to the child and vice versa, you learnt how you and your spouse were actually doing good, you learnt how good your son is doing as the heir fo the family, he has a elder sister always worrying and bullying him and is endearingly annoying to him, all while Oscar behind you felt his heart break into pieces...

He finally decided after a few minutes of silence with you and your son talking, except of you and your child talking, Quiren, as he was named. He had to confess to you to get rid of these feelings so he could move on and not live on the feeling of you never loving him and instead marrying someone else.

“Uhm...uh, dear Quiren, do you mind going out for a few minutes, I wanna have a important, secret talk with your parent for a few minutes…..” Oscar asked him, and Quiren upon seeing the look in his eyes, nodded and walked out the room and closed the door behind him, leaving you both in the room alone. As soon as the door shut, Oscar couldn’t hide his cries anymore. As soon as the door closed, you heard a tiny whimper, which held a lot of pain, you quickly whipped your head around to see Oscar holding his head low with tears streaming and falling on his lap and hands making tiny wet spot on his pants and hands as he continued bawl his eyes out as you shifted near him, you pulled him into a tight hug as he cried and babbled

"I'm sorry...I'm such a bad friend..." Oscar said wailing before hiccuping from his tears a bit

"I want you to be happy....But.." He took a huge breathe before brushsing his palms across his cheeks "I want you to be happy with me!" He said full on bursting into huge tears as you patted his back, still hugging him tightly as you tried to hide your blush and excitement, you didn't know who your husband was but it's not like it was too late, right??

You slowly pulled away from the tight hug and kissed his eyes and kissed his tears away as you smiled before hugging him and kissing his cheeks and lips,

"I think...You're the nicest person in the history of the universe...I don't care that I'm married to someone else in the future, right now, I want to be with you, you understand?!" You say smiling brightly as Oscar wiped his tears and giggled a bit as he nodded his head as he kissed your lips again, as someone said in a squeky voice,

"Dad, please! YOU CAN DO ALL THAT AFTER I LEAVE, NO??" Quiren said blushing as he covered his eyes with his hands cutely, you and Oscar giggled as you realized you both misunderstood, Quiren wasn't only your child, but he belonged to Oscar as well! You don't understand how you didn't realize those same gold eyes you loves so much on Quiren belonged to Oscar...But nonetheless, looks like you not only have one Oscar Fredrick but two in different fonts in the future!

you're my best friend, I’ll love you forever.

For sake of inclusivity and proper self insertion, you’re an adopted sister. cw: Aria is a bit possessive.

You were brought into the home after your mother died, she was a common prostitute and an old friend of Aria's mother. Your father was a married nobleman so when she died, naturally, he didn't wish to risk the ire of his wife by bringing an illegitimate child into their home so he did not claim you. Although Carin had married into wealth and privilege, your mother had continued having to live the life she escaped. When she met you, you were on the streets wearing rags while she had been out shopping. Carin felt a little guilty over that and decided to ask permission to take you in as her ward.

Aria never knew her mother to be a philanthropist so she was surprised when her mother brought home a random orphan. She did enjoy how much your presence pissed Mielle off, though. Since one of the young ladies of the house shunned you, you turned to the other. She was wary at first and a little bit threatened (though she'd never admit it), but a certain solidarity was reached between you two when she found out unflattering rumors were being spread about you. That you faced the same prejudice for your status that she did. You were Aria’s only friend in the house, the only one who simply liked her without wanting something from her.

The two of you together are a problem, coming up with all sorts of ways to mess with the people who look down on you two. You’re Aria’s greatest partner in crime because you’ve always been seen as meek and well mannered and you can get away with things she can’t. You’re the first person she ever told about her power and her intentions for Count Roscente and his children. You like her even when she's behaving like a brat and although people consider you the milder daughter, you can be as deviously crafty or maybe even more so.

Aria can get jealous of your friends and likes to remind them in that passive aggressive noble way that they’ll never be as close to you as she is. She might even use the hourglass to pull on their hair and step on their dresses if they piss her off enough. Although the two of you are distinct in style, sometimes the two of you will dress in the same colors, wear matching jewelry or do similar hairstyles. Carin will basically act like that scene in Victorious where Jade goes “They’re identical, look at them” then the camera pans to Andre and Beck. Sometimes she’ll be impressed by you doing something crafty or smart then she’ll go, “well, you are my daughter so it’s only natural you’d be talented.”

Count Roscente might consider you a pet/hobby for his ornamental second wife to amuse herself with but she sees you as her daughter as much as Aria sees you as her genuine sister.

Carin is an admittedly permissive parent but just the same as her biological daughter, you’re still her primary concern. Fuck everyone else, it’s you and Aria she’s looking out for. She wants you to avoid struggling like she and your mother had so despite her carefree nature, she does all she can to set you up for an easy future. Luckily for her, Aria had the same sentiments. When she's crown princess, she intended to make sure you lived in the lap of luxury. But not before she destroyed the house of your father who left you to starve on the streets, right along with the Roscente county.

!!!! fellow oi reader hello!! may i ask what ois you've read so far sorry for being so straightforward it's just that hardly anybody i know reads oi and it's kinda embarrassing for me ahahaha

gepard feels like he'll fit in so much as either the personal knight trope or captain of the king's guards. stelle could also be the personal knight i guess? but the kind where 'villainess needs somebody on their side so they take in a foreign traveler in to be their maid/knight/personal aide', except said foreign traveler happens to rifle through the trash of everything.

jing yuan already feels like the emperor in hsr, he's just so perfectly regal in that sense. yanqing could be like the captain for jing yuan's guards, or his (adopted) heir who first (sibling-like relationship) meets and bonds with the reader without yanqing or reader knowing each other's true rank.

will there be a magic system? there is the 'mischievous/sly wizard of the tower' position that could go to sampo. i know you'll probably only write for the characters you listed so i'm deviating because i have so much brainrot about this right now, but i'm imagining march 7th also as a novice wizard/magician who's a friend of stelle. herta would also definitely be a wizard of the tower, probably would own/be the head of it. himeko feels so much like the ally duchess/marchioness character, with welt being another duke/marquess (or himeko's adoptive father if you're into honkai impact 3rd lore) or even royal advisor maybe.

blade as the cold duke of the north fits so well - sad backstory, red eyes, dark hair, slightly unhinged personality - a perfect match! dan heng could be the 'mysterious librarian who was the only neutral/slightly sympathetic person to the reader, but also never helped them outright in the first life'. friends with march and stelle, of course. speaking of second lives...

will the reader be reincarnated with a 2nd chance at life fix-it story, with the previous memories of the original timeline's bad ending and character actions? there's so much potential for angst if any of the characters betrayed her or weren''t on her side originally and the reader doesn't know who to trust nor like or love.

I don't have my full list on me rn (I am at work ;m;) but I can name a few off the top of my head! some of these are less isekai and more reincarnation/time travel, but I'll list them anyways! I'll put them beneath the cut along with my comments on your ideas since it gets pretty long LOL

my next life as a villainess: all routes lead to doom, the villainess turns the hourglass, a stepmother's märchen/fantasie of a stepmother, who made me a princess, actually I was the real one, I fell into the world of a reverse harem game, death is the only ending for the villainess, I will master this family, the tyrant wants to be good, lady and the beast, taming of the tyrant, roxana/how to protect the heroine's older brother, the rebirth of a tyrannical empress, sister in this life I'll be the queen, the duchess' 50 tea recipes, father I don't want this marriage, how to be a dark hero's daughter, the villainess is a marionette, and many, many MANY more.

this is actually only a small part of my list! again, I am at work, so I don't have my full (and unfortunately sorta not updated) manhwa list, but I think this is a good show of what I usually read lol!

I'll start on your comments from the top! FIRST OFF, SAME BRAIN!!! (=♡ ᆺ ♡=) while gepard is kind of a shoe-in for the personal knight that falls for the mc, I was ABSOLUTELY hooked on the idea stewing in my brain about stelle being a knight of some sort as well, with the only conflict being "well there can't be TWO personal friendly knights that love reader..." BUT THE IDEA ABOUT HER BEING THE TROPE OF THE FOREIGN TRAVELER/BEGGAR WITH SWORDSMANSHIP TALENT TO BE THEIR KNIGHT IS ABSOLUTELY GENIUS I BOW TO YOUR BRILLIANT MIND!!!!!!!!! OR MAYBE SHES LIKE A DEPOSED NOBLE WHO READER GIVES A CHANCE TO *:･ﾟ✧(=✪ ᆺ ✪=)*:･ﾟ✧

I agree on jing yuan, and I think that idea sounds rlly cute for yanqing!!! (=´ᆺ｀=)

I LOVE your sampo idea too. I kinda get lucas vibes from who made me a princess minus the maliciousness and adding 100x more sleazy swindly-type guy vibes, he's totally a bastard when it comes to provoking the other love interests behind ur back... the march 7th idea is cute too! I could also see her as reader's maid! and yes herta 100% head mage of the tower thats so real...

I am not mega into hi3 lore but I DO know about the dynamic between welt and himeko!!! I would love her to have a role like duchess tuania in remarried empress, a master of the social world who aides the reader. maybe welt is her adoptive father and she's trying to earn his trust to take over the duchy, and she thinks he won't pass it on to her, but little does she know he thinks she's more than capable and is making plans to give the duchy to her soon!!!

BLADE RLLY IS A SHOE-IN FOR THE DUKE OF THE NORTH HUH... that guy covers all the bases. "the monster duke" of the rumors... I think that's def what his position will be. for dan heng, ONCE AGAIN YOUR BRAIN IS HUGE!! the quiet, scholarly-type ML who helps the reader in business dealings or things requiring an analyst type to help, like maybe information gathering... I think having him run an information guild as the trope goes would be a Bit much for dan heng since I don't see him as much of a leader in that sense, but I think he's definitely got connections to some underground info guilds (=｀ﻌ´=) maybe he is friends w stelle and march as you say, and he is a lower ranked noble who knew stelle and helps the reader as thanks for giving his friend a chance? :o cold, but he cares!!!

I would love 2 hear your ideas for kafka if you have any!!! you have such amazing ideas anon!!!!

as for the reincarnation thing, I'm still not 100% sure yet but I DO like that idea... I love the mc going from villain/ridiculed noble to execution to reincarnating and either taking revenge on those who wronged them, making their life better (and by extension the lives around them who they care for), or both!

Honestly, chapter 125 of The Villain Reverses the Hourglass was the conclusion we all need.

But mostly because the ship I was too ashamed of saying I was outright shipping had sailed.

ISIS X CROATIA PRINCE LET'S GOOOOOOOOOO

Like they had such good chemistry, I was like 'god damn why did they have to be on opposing sides' the banter was so good. And the implications of that nobleman telling him about Neke(the body Is reincarnated into), and the prince saying to check it out just made me squeal.

My brain keeps imagining this sort-of enemies to lovers sequel with both of them, including very underhanded tactics, intelligent schemes by brain can't handle, lots and LOTS of sexual tension, and cameos from our dear Aria and Asher. Also I'd like to see how the prince would react when he finds out about the whole Isis-Neke thing. I have my bets on a "well, that means we can officially get married now!" kind of happy exclamation.

Also, now that she's a commoner, I want to see Oscar again. Maybe they'll meet and he's already living happily or smth.

And, I know Isis did some super bad shit to Aria,bit I wonder if we'll see them get into a sort of neutral ground. Like Asher and Croatia Prince but much less direct banter and more of I jab here and there very discreetly as we banter mannerfully while hiding out faces behind fans.

Also, it's really good because now Isis' dream of being crown princess is here. Girl go get Croatia's crown. Also I feel like in this case, the prince might actually figure her out since he's like "reincarnation exists, hey Isis what's up".

Anyways, Chapter 125 is amazing because The Villainess Reverses the Hourglass is now a complete manhwa and it just gives me that feeling of fulfillment. Like when I read Percy Jackson and the first series ended, I was like "This feels so good, contentment, go live your happy lives" but I also know more things is going on since they had a new prophecy and the same thing is for TVRH because now there's also new possibilities open, like Isis and CP may meet again and this time my ship that I thought was toxic because Isis was a villain can sail.

Thanks to the author for writing such a masterpiece, TVRH is currently my number one favourite manhwa. Hundred percent read it.

Question for ya’ll

Hi everyone! Quick update before I ask ya’ll something. Good news: I’m getting really close to clearing out the askbox! I’m currently in the homestretch with a little under 40 asks! If I keep writing at my current rate, I should have it open sometime between Wednesday and Thursday! Yay!

Now, onto the question. So I’ve been reading a lot of comics online recently. Specifically manhua/isekai of the romantic sort. The current list includes:

-Beware of the Villainess

-First Miss Reborn

-The Villainess Reverses the Hourglass

-When the Villainess Loves

-The Antagonist’s Pet

-A few others which currently escape my memory

A lot of these are really good, but to my horror I as of yet to find any content for them. There’s fandoms for some of them that I’ve seen but 0 fics, 0 fanart, 0 anything.

MY QUESTION TO YOU IS THIS:

Would anyone, anyone at all, be interested in me adding a Manhua category to the masterlist of stuff I write for?

Some of it would be case by case since I have a lot of reading to catch up on, but if this is something you guys would be interested in, could you please let me know either via the askbox (open for non-request related conversation) or the notes? That way it would be really easy to know if this is something you guys would like.

When villainesses take the lead

We are the generation that grew up watching shows such as Digimon, Inuyasha and The Vision of Escaflowne. There is something attractive about works that involve journeys to other worlds with fantastical settings and exciting adventures. Let’s say, you have your normal fantastical plot: a common person falls into another world. There, they may develop or discover the possession of magical powers, live lots of magical occurrences and even may end up finding love! Magic Knight Rayearth, SAO and Zero no Tsukaima come to my mind, among others.

What’s so interesting about this type of fictional works? We receive the chance to explore themes of our interest, fulfil personal fantasies and escape from our common lives (the real world is already complicated on its own). This article shows how Escapism has its value.

There is a very interesting paradigm going on on Asiatic media concerning travels to other worlds. In fact, according to TV Tropes, this type of fictional work is called Isekai in Japanese media and it’s treated as a genre of its own. And yet, nowadays I find a very interesting twist in this type of media, a twist that makes things very entertaining.

The names of the works I’m talking about sound cliché and melodramatic: ‘My Next Live as a Villainess’, ‘Death is the Only Ending for the Villainess’, ‘The Villainess Lives Twice’, ‘The Villainess reverses the hourglass’. Others are more indirect, such as ‘The Abandoned Empress’ and ‘Your Throne’. Most are told from the point of view of females who have a traditional antagonist role.

I’ve always enjoyed ironic consumption, and these titles worked as magnets to me. What I ended up finding was a refreshing surprise: common women who fell into fantastical worlds made from the plots of novels and games they consumed in their free time, or more traditional ‘villainesses’ who travelled back in time to fix what was wrong in their first lives. In the first case, we would see normal girls who found themselves inside the bodies of ‘villainous’ characters and desperately trying to avoid their bad endings by the use of their knowledge of the plots while commenting on clichés and traditional tropes. In the second case, we see female characters who more or less identify with their ‘villainous’ role and try to change their bad outcomes while learning about themselves and what drove them to make their bad choices.

What do these types of works have in common? They are genre deconstructions. According to TV Tropes, deconstructions happen when a fictional work takes its elements apart and shows how certain elements would work in real life, by contrasting them to ‘real situations’ or parodying them. Sarcastic main characters help, too.

There is a very interesting trend among Asian Media (mainly works made by Korean authors, but there are Japanese too) concerning the deconstruction of traditional stories directed to the female public.

Why is this expression of the isekai genre so interesting?

First, because most stories deal with settings of historical fantasy, where we can indulge ourselves with beautiful Period dresses, gorgeous mansions and attractive love interests. One can’t help but remember the works of Jane Austen or the Brontë Sisters.

Second, because the twists of these works feel refreshing. We consider other points of view. We see why villains become what they become. We get to learn new plot points. Deconstructions give an interesting dose of realism and pragmatism to stories. They are refreshing because they give new angles to an old genre and we can identify with the situations.

But let’s not forget: the focus of this essay is villainesses. We get to see the story from the point of view of female characters who don’t portray themselves as good people and some even feel content with their roles.

Raised in a world where women receive lots of double standards, being pressured from young ages to be proper and good and yet receiving worse punishments than guys for doing the same things like them as a result of unrealistic expectations, along with some unhealthy extremes of social justice culture, where we are oddly pressured to change ourselves and learn from our mistakes yet we are not allowed to fully grow from them, it isn’t hard to identify with villainesses. After all, it is unavoidable to find ourselves as the villains of someone else’s life events. We are not perfect people and we fuck up sometimes. Especially when we are young.

So, why are villainesses so interesting? Because they fuck up, too. These characters don’t try to be saintly good girls and they acknowledge their situations. There is an interesting dose of cynicism underlying these works, in some, it’s more open than in others, such as ‘Your Throne’. Some female leads are noble demons who try to not drag third parties into their schemes, like Medea Belial in the work I previously mentioned. Others define themselves as villainess yet behave as anti-heroines are their worst, such as Aria Roscente in ‘The Villaines Reverses the Hourglass’. And others are heroes who still place themselves in the roles of villains, like Catarina Claes in ‘My Next Life as a Villainess!’’.

What do these three have in common? The leads also have internalized in themselves some moral standards about good and evil.

I don’t think it is surprising to find these types of works during the current fourth wave of Feminism we are living in. Terms such as internalized misogyny, double standards and deconstruction are concepts I learned these past years thanks to social media. So, why do I believe these types of Isekai novels that focus on villainesses are so relevant? Because we see other females’ points of view, we understand their positions and sometimes get to see that the true villains are other characters. Most of the villainesses of these works are, in fact, women with terrible social reputations who behave as anti-heroines at their worst.

There is a reason why the social settings of these stories are during past times. The authors of these works are deconstructing tropes from both old and new media. They are giving voices to Other Characters and show them in a realistic light, they write about flawed women who try to survive in a world full of unrealistic expectations, and that is true for both past and actual times.

It isn't hard for me to recall works such as Northanger Abbey or Jane Eyre. There are reasons why Period novels are still relevant these days, but that it’s not the topic I want to address in this essay. Here is this interesting article that analyses the success of Jane Austen works, while this note from the Guardian does the same for the Brontë sisters. Of course, experts and critics would get annoyed at me for putting Jane Austen and the Brontë Sisters on the same page, but please, bear with me: I’m talking about fictional works that deal with abuse, machismo, dysfunctional families and difficult childhoods, subjects still relevant to today. So, what’s so interesting about recalling these themes? It’s the way some Asian authors knew how to retake these stories, added some fantastical elements and still deconstructed others, providing us with a refreshing result.

Most of the isekai works I mentioned above are told from the point of view of young girls who are isolated for their social positions, because they come from other worlds and know that their ‘new bodies’ are doomed to die and more.

Imagine being reincarnated as the pretty daughter of a noble family and yet... you find yourself hated and isolated from others, in a situation you cannot control. And you can be murdered in cold blood if you don’t make the right choices. These works make it very clear some situations are ugly and dangerous. They are not painted in a romantic light. And the main characters acknowledge it.

Naturally, there are aspects we could criticize of these works. For example, the main leads usually are white thin ladies in gorgeous period dresses, who despite their issues still benefit from privileged backgrounds. And few of these works address LGTBQ+ representation, as most of the endgames are attractive male leads.

But then, this is not about pitting people against each other. It’s about acknowledging a new paradigm in story-telling, one that subverts and parodies plots.

Change is brought over by small steps. And I think we are going on a good path.

I've been having a lot of spare time during the weekend to read and I’ve really been enjoying web novels. What To Read When You Like Isekai and Reincarnation Manhwas Part 2

Hello again! I am back with a continuation of ‘What To Read When You Like Isekai and Reincarnation Manhwas’ Part Two. 🌷 Just in case there are new readers, Part One to this blog is https://kermitted-to-read.tumblr.com/post/634590992230645760/what-to-read-when-you-like-isekai-and where I had listed three other manhwas so go check it out, you might find one that would catch your interests. 😊 Both of these manhwas are new finds and I really both of them especially the first one on the list.

Beware of the Villainess!

‘Beware of the Villainess!’ (Korean: 그 악녀를 조심하세요!) is one of my recent discoveries and not counting the lovely illustration works, the storyline itself made its way up onto my top five list. The manhwa was written by authors Bbongdda Mask and Berry, and it was illustrated by Pureunkanna. It is unlike your typical villainess story. This manhwa is honestly a good contender to be my top three ‘isekai’ manhwas because of how good it is. For those who do not know, ‘isekai’ is a Japanese word known in the Japanese media to term an event where a character or more are transported into another world or dimension.

This manhwa’s beginnings is a bit similar to ‘Who Made Me a Princess’ except the main protagonist is a villainess. It first tells the story of a girl who woke up in the body of a villainess from a novel she had read. Soon after that, she had witnessed the novel’s male lead, the crown prince, cheating on the villainess who he was betrothed to and embracing another girl right in front of her. However instead of acting and continuing to behave like how the novel’s villainess had acted, which involves crying her eyes, she paved her own way: She cursed at him. The main character seems to realise that there is more to life than crying over guys especially when she became the daughter of the Duke who is basically a jobless rich person.

‘Beware of the Villainess!’ is so entertaining to read through because of how refreshing the main character is. She deliberately became what everyone expects her to be, which is becoming an actual villain who does whatever she can to ruin others’ lives except with this manhwa, it is not the heroine she is attacking but the male lead and other secondary male leads who wish to be with the heroine of the novel. I also really love the fact that the heroine herself has more depth to her character than what can be seen at first glance. There is so much character building and the metaphors for some of the scenes are so eye-opening to me especially in recent chapters. I seriously recommend this manhwa to everyone who wants to read something refreshing and comedic with a splash of ‘I never realised that before’ moments. ⭐️

The Villainess Reverses the Hourglass

This manhwa ‘The Villainess Reverses the Hourglass’ (Korean: 악녀는 모래시계를 되돌린다) was written by SanSobee and was illustrated by Ant Studio. This is another story that was adapted after a Web Novel of the same name. As the title hints, this one is about reincarnation as well as involving royalty and nobility.

This manhwa is about a young girl named Aria whose status in society is elevated immediately after her prostitute mother’s marriage to the Count. However, her life ended quickly and as unfairly due to her step sister Mielle’s schemes. Just before she succumbs to her death, Aria sees an hourglass falling to the ground like magic and just like that, she is brought back to the past. In order to counter Mielle’s schemes and get her revenge on Mielle who plotted the murders of Aria and her mother, she decided she must become an even more wicked villainess.

‘The Villainess Reverses the Hourglass’ is an amazing story especially if you are interested in strong and ruthless female characters. From what I have read so far, Aria seems to be the type of character that would always find ways to win and has a clear view of her goals. If she were to fail, Aria would always find other ways upon learning what had made her to fail. It is really encouraging to see how goal-oriented she is. The way she behaves does not feel very stiff as you would certainly imagine yourself doing the same things she does to get revenge. Throughout the story, both the protagonist and her sister would scheme against each other to bring the other down whether these include sending spies, sabotage, and even attempting to steal the fiancé. It is really entertaining to read through. While there is a lack of development between the relationship of the male lead and Aria as far as I have read, the plot and story alone are still worth giving a try. It is certainly worth your time. 👌🏼✨

Oh, then can you please write one where mielle came back but not as a human but rather a gost but instead of going after aria. She is more concerned with finding the soul of her family(count, cain, Emma). While she saw searching, she find out there were another version of herself (first timeline mielle). Kinda just living with in her head/soul. I don't know why but I can just see the 2 version of herself just arguing with each other.

After a while she realized that she can find them anywhere. And I mean that she looked and searched everywhere. I'd the rosente house hold. The place where count/emma/call died. Cain school. Etc. But she cant find them.

During like her search for her family members souls, she noticed that she was being followed and attacked by some angelic white knight figure .

Seeming that she cant find her family member soul and that she is being followed. She decided that there most be a magical fixed to her problem, so she went to the now abandon duke Fredrick house that might conveniently help her

The sound of music and couples dancing made Mielle happy as she danced on her own, holding her white dress in her dainty hands as she twirled and danced, for once Mielle didn't have to be so modest. Finally the music stopped and Mielle accidentally bumped into someone, Mielle whipped her head around to see Aria and the crown prince, Asterope Franz in each-other's embrace, Aria suddenly shivered after Mielle bumped into her and leaned into Asterope.

As Mielle slowly with her fingers very gently fixed Aria's veil and dress a bit as to not let Aria feel her touch. It was Aria's wedding after all, she shouldn't be messy, as Mielle slowly got off the dance floor like everyone else letting the groom and bride take the place as they had their first dance as husband and wife.

Mielle slowly left the wedding venue, making her way back to the Roscente manor even though it was a long way, but when she reached there she saw the manor was completely empty, nobody in sight and it was a bit dusty, like nobody had cleaned the manor in a few months, mainly because it probably was true. Mielle walked up to her room, which was still decorated, but dusty like the rest of the manor, as she walked she came face to face with the place where she pushed her father, she instantly felt guilty and was about to cry but this wasn't the moment to do so.

Mielle when she woke up was sleeping in the middle of garden bench as she woke up and looked around she realized she was at the imperial palace's garden, where she saw Aria dancing and having fun with the crown prince..

It made her mad but enough of that, Mielle was very tired of the empty manor which echoed beautiful sounds yet it was mundane. Mielle walked out of the manor and walked towards different places, now that she was a spirit, she couldn't get tired and what better way to spend all this time a few hours later she arrived at the Fredrick household, people were there Isis and Oscar weren't, Mielle sighed and walked back out, she was tired of not being acknowledged by people and not being her loved ones, Mielle walked out and went to Cain's school, which was bustling with students chattering and talking and other things, soon the bell rang and everyone hurried off to class.

Mielle giggled with the sights of people being friends, pulling pranks, teasing each other, gossiping, etc. She walked through the hallways peeking into classes to listen to anything she found interesting, and then she ended up in front of Cain's class, she entered the class without opening the door, she was a spirit after all, she looked around the class and found no one, no trace of her brother...she realized she was all alone, she couldn't find Oscar, Isis, her brother her mother her father, Emma were all dead and gone, she was alone, Aria was living her happy after...

Leaving the school, Mielle walked the long and tiring path back to Aria's house, she sat in the palace gardens and went back to the bench where she first woke up and laid down, falling asleep, throughout the journey, she was feeling upset, tired and as though someone was there...that feeling made her hopeful into finding who ever was alive, any of her loved one, but to avail, no one was left for her...

Falling asleep and waking up, her vision clearing to find herself into a dark space with herself? It was her, but she looked angry, VERY angry. Mielle stood up and faced this another version of her,

"Who are you?" Mielle asked this other version of her,

"I'm you, from our first timeline or our first life, where I successfully killed off Aria and her stupid pesky mother!" this other version of Mielle angrily boasted about her accomplishment.

Mielle shook her head and scoffed at this version of her, she didn't care that she died, Mielle had realized that it wasn't Aria's fault, she was only trying to protect herself and she had no choice but kill Mielle cause Aria knew Mielle would come back for her in way or another and it was all Mielle's fault that none of her loved ones was left. Suddenly the black void showed another Mielle as through a screen on one side of the void, with words written in pretty cursive saying,

"Welcome to 3rd time line, Mielle."

Mielle and her alternate universe looked at the screen and looked at each-other, they nodded their heads and knew if they wanted to survive, they had to save themselves from traps first and then Aria and others. They shook their hands and looked ahead at the baby version of themselves knowing they'll earn their happy endings this time.

Though the rain provided comfort with it’s cold and soft tears and drops, your cries with carried with it and softened down as you laid in bed and curled up into yourself and fell asleep soon…As you woke up late at night, you were hit with a wave of sadness and despair, as if sadness was waiting for you to conscious to hurt you again as tears filled your eyes, you don’t know how long or how badly you were crying until you found something wrap around your waist and you were pulled into something incredibly soft which smelt like candies and lavender with mint, that made your tears stop for a minute as you looked up to see a grey and blackish dragon with fur around its neck which you were putting your face into a second ago, the dragon had eyes very similar to yours, it was warm and comforting to be with the creature as it stared at you with its huge eyes and tilting and nodding his head as if asking what happened. You thought this would be the better way, like last time when you saw Lohan with a white one…

You began talking about how you met Lohan and how since the beginning of your relationship you were always harassed by the courtiers of Lohan’s palace…They would say, you’re a witch and you were using black magic to make Lohan fall in love with and soon you would kill him, take the throne and start a rule on them.. Then you started talking about how they tried to kill you and sometime even beat or cut you in order to take out their anger on you. And then Lohan proposed in front of the whole court, how he didn’t notice their angry stares was beyond you and then tears started pouring from your eyes, as you brushed them off the dragon’s fur, in which he growled surprised and fell back pulling you with it.

As you were giggling and annoying the dragon, you heard the door creak, making you and dragon whip your heads towards it, as the dragon began growling and baring it’s huge fangs, as it whipped its tail and wind immediately pushed the stalker in your room and onto your bed, the blood in your face ran out as the person who was watching you was Lohan, not only was he watching you with this dragon, he might have heard what you said…

You stood up and slowly creeped closer to the door, just before you walked out the dragon held you waist with its tail, as Lohan approached you, shushing you gently as he hugged you and sat on the bed with you beside him.

“I’m so sorry….Y/N, my dear, I promise, I didn’t know about this and wouldn’t have wanted you to go through something like this…I’m so sorry” Lohan said, as his eyes also filled with tears, as he cupped your face and kissed your cheeks, “Please, please forgive me, I didn’t want to yell at you or start that argument, I promise those people will pay for this…” Lohan said, as he eyes fell on a few bruises on your arms and legs, which he didn’t notice, how didn’t he notice them?!

As you both talked your feelings out with the dragon beside you, you found him with another dragon, licking its face and cuddling with it, as they both growled in a conversation, maybe as deep you and Lohan’s…

As you cuddled on the bed with Lohan, your fiancée, as the dragon and it’s fiancée / mate cuddled alongside you, you looking out the window watching the light spring of rain with the large shining moon, round like a bowl of milk, as you both watched and cuddled, soon falling asleep in each-other’s embrace…

(this request was received, when I just finished one of my Lohan requests , which included reader going to his room late at night, because she was not able to sleep!!! Part 1|| Part 3)

Magic dragons fix everything! pt.2

As you continued to turn on your side to get some amount of sleep, it wasn’t plausible, you had been trying to go to sleep for hours, but for some reason you just couldn’t fall asleep…It had been what felt like hours, since you first laid in the bed…As you continued to toss and turn you felt something very soft and fluffy near your feet, immediately you sat up and lifted your blanket to see if any rat or any creature entered your room without anyone knowing, but nothing….

As you again lay in bed in doubt, because you were sure you felt something near your feet and now you had a gut feeling of checking up on Lohan, for some reason. As you continue to think what to do as you lay in bed, you felt the same thing swishing across your thighs, now you were sure something was in bed with you and now you had more of a reason to check up on Lohan. As you quickly sat up, wore a shrug over your night gown, light a candle holder and tip toed out of your room and ran across the large hallways lit by the moonlight coming in from the windows..

As you ran on your tiptoes, trying to create as less noise as you could before reaching Lohan’s room. You blew out the candle and put the holder on the floor near the bedroom door, before turning to open the door, when you heard muffle cries and whimpers as you slowly creaked open the door to see Lohan crying before a white-grey dragon walked towards him which had large wings and fur around its neck which sat near him and wrapped it’s wing around him as to comfort him.

As you were watching the scene, you felt a sudden push of wind push you inside the room and onto Lohan; it was surprising to you that Lohan wasn’t freaked out by you being pushed onto his lap nor by the huge cloudy, comfy, adorable ass dragon in his room, comforting him. So now you were on sitting on the lap and in a tight grip of Lohan, who was still crying, along with huge as fuck and adorable as hell dragon, who was very sweet-smelling, very cute and very comfy as hell looking. As Lohan finally started to calm down, you both suddenly felt extremely dizzy before falling on something soft. As you both looked around you both were now on Lohan’s bed with the huge dragon, also sitting with its tail wrapped around the bed blanket, which was also covering you. After turning to his side and cuddling with you for some time, he fell asleep very quickly, ‘guess it must be due to all the crying….’ You thought, before loosening his grip on you and sitting up, upon the sound of you sitting up, the dragon lifted his head quickly, and teleported near you and laid its head on your lap, as it stared at you.

Its eyes were the one thing that caught your attention as you quickly realized why, these things were “Sleep-snow”, and they were dragons! Sleep-snow were creature people described as white, large and comfy, nobody remembers them after they sleep and mostly they said that these things comfort them, when they were crying in the night. People only remember their eyes, large lavender eyes, and if someone does fully remember them, they can’t tell anything about them, if somebody says anything about them, they will forget everything about them in a second.

You felt happy knowing it trusted you to let you remember it, because people almost immediately sleep after being comforted by them, just like Lohan. Now as you were in the warmth of Lohan and the dragon, you felt sleepy as well as you laid back down before cuddling both of them and finally falling asleep. Guess you could keep this secret from the sake of remembering this night….Good night!

As you continued to do your paperwork you were assigned, you let go of the pen for a moment to relax your hand which was aching like hell. As you called one of the maids to bring you a glass of water before you continued to do your paperwork.

As you did your work you felt a pair of eyes watching you, as you shook off the feeling. As you heard fiddling and noises outside the windows of the room, ‘Hmm…Must be the wind, I mean I am at the top floor of the palace…’ You thought as the sounds continued

As the sounds started to grow louder, the thought that the wind was doing this was out the window as you looked at the window, the sky looked way too dark tonight, as you walked towards it you saw something move but it was very dark making it impossible as to what it was…Now frightened out of your wits, you tried to be sensible and carry out your work as quickly as possible, before you heard a swish behind you, as you whipped up your head you saw two large black dragons chewing on fruits with their snoots (and believe me when I say they looked adorable as hell!!!). You recognized these dragons as ‘Galaxy dragons’ , these dragons have dust of stars in them and they mostly roam in the night, there are rumors of them being carnivorous but on the other hand there has never been an attack on a human by them, they’re mostly know to eat fruits and fish.

As you cautiously tried to walk out without alerting them, but as you walked back you tripped over something which alerted the other two as the thing you tripped over let out a tiny whine, as you looked up you saw another dragon with tiny tears in his eyes….’Can dragons even cry…I mean this one is crying because it got hurt by me…I FEEL LIKE CRYING!!!!’ You thought as you looked at the large dragon whimpering and cooing, before the other two dragons came over and licked the crying one on the face, before one of them simply plopped itself on top of you and now you’re lying in your study with three galaxy dragons cuddling you…Guess it’s alright to stay like this for some time…..
