idly turning over post-ew thoughts of artoirel finally fucking handing in his title as count so he can go fuck off to the seaside and compose concertos in peace (since ffxiv has disappeared him completely and returned him to the Free Real Estate Zone) and then it was brought up that maybe he also invested in a winery in eastern la noscea and now i'm wading up to my ankles in the revival of theatrical traditions in eorzea starting with a charity fundraiser production of ishgardian 'much ado about nothing' (thank you leatherworker quests) and culminating in the reopening of some grand palais in ul'dah that's been shuttered for decades but also managed to find some brainrot for Clown Hours (They are Still Never Getting This Together For Those of You Following Along At Home)

I HAVE MORE PROOF VIOLET AND MINNIE WERE NEVER ✨A THING✨ I SWEAR
plus how violentine is better bpd relationship.
i mean what? hm?
i dont know what spawn within be woke me up from a dead sleep but here we are.
violet gots bpd (…probably). bpd idealization is not at all a good thing and is actually a sign of a rough connection. also, there's a taste of how identity plays into it.
and stuff. but whatever. nobody likes talking about bpd and i'll just sit here and rot or something.
okay, i'm being dramatic. lol. i'll go work on other essays. this is the one that it coms from btw.

Personally speaking if I had to pick one rairpair out of the entire hellaverse I would want to see canon it would be Velvette x Verosica but man it is going to be the most lavish, fluffy, intensely intimate, passionate, rancid & disastrous 24/7 trending full blown shitstorm hell has ever seen I don't think anyone is going to be ready. Not even these two. Dear god especially not these two.
Man Verosica is just 2 for 1 on short gremlin kings who are also coincidentally emotionally constipated walking talking sacks of untreated mental illnesses wrapped up in 3 layers of intimacy issues isn't she but hey at least this one's pretty much guaranteed never to steal your credit card for horse riding lessons and most definitely won't be caught one ring down in wrath in the middle of fuck knows where with said credit card so.... yay improvement?

winter 2024 first impressions: ishura
and so we ring in the new year with some beautiful doomed yuri that lasts only until a weird guy appear
typical
i picked this one up for the cast (romi park my beloved please arrive soon) and it's off to an alright start imo. the fight sequences were pretty good, visually, but the soundtrack didn't blow me away—and i really wish it did. the ost wasn't bad or anything, but if it had stood out more to me, i feel like it would have elevated the action scenes as a whole
the premise is remarkably simple so far, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. i often like simple, but it means the series will swim or sink based on its characters (who were mostly only namedropped towards the end of the first episode, so time will tell if they compel me)
one element of the worldbuilding i did like is there are these big mech type 'golems' facing off against humans, some of whom can use magic. exceedingly standard stuff
but then!
you see one of the golems using the same magic humans wield, which was a nice little twist i quite enjoyed. not sure if anything will become of that detail, since it seems like the series is shaping up to be more of a pvp battle royale than a pve humans vs golems type story
(side note this feels like it would make a pretty sick video game)
the weakest part of the first ep, to me, was the pacing. it just felt rushed, but that's mostly understandable since this ep was clearly just set-up for the 'main' plot. i feel like it might have benefited from being an hour-long episode, or maybe all this backstory would have felt more impactful if we saw it later, with the 'main' plot starting in medias res and circling back to this later? idk it wasn't The Worst, i just feel it (the pacing) could have been Better
also content warning for anyone who might need it: there was at least one instance of extremely graphic violence in this first ep, which i anticipate might continue through the series, so heads up on that
tl;dr it's fine so far

Ig kinda what separates Domi's expression of already being dead from Jeanne's (who treats herself more or less as a walking corpse, thus having no will or desire for life but experiencing relatively little suicidal ideation) or Vanitas' (who considers himself an abomination whose continued 'life' is a kind of divine punishment) is that Domi really only values herself as something that grieves/is grieved and can't distinguish her self worth from the extent to which she can be mourned

yeah i’m leaving my job next week HOWEVER it is very fun to know i’m “the wrestling person” here. even though most of my coworkers don’t really know what that means. one of them was hyping me up bc “wrestling night is tomorrow night!!” and that prompted her to show me this thing she was sure i’d love, bc “it’s a wrestling show” and proceeded to show me bully beatdown, that show where bullies get in the octagon with real mma fighters and try to survive a round or two and im like. that’s not EXACTLY the same thing but i appreciate the thought and i DO also enjoy mma fighting and ufc so that kinda counts i guess

Liara and Leliana are my two favorite Bioware LIs/characters as a whole because they're both like she's nice, she's sweet, she looks super innocent, she's an angel, she's highly unethical, she makes a living blackmailing people, she wouldn't hesitate to torture and/or kill whoever the fuck gets in her way in any way shape or form
