★ What would you say is your most prized book? Definitely one of mine is my signed UK edition of Nevernight! I had it signed at the very first book event I’d ever gone to (Yallwest 2019), and I recall Jay mentioning how uncommon it was to see that edition, and we chatted about it for a few moments while he doodled Mister Kindly, signed, and personalized it with the tagline. 😱 It was really special moment that I’ll never forget. Darkdawn, the final book in The Nevernight Chronicle, a book I happily waited two years for, and a book that was everything I wanted and more. I first found these books a few years ago, and I tore through the first one, gulping down every word, every moment, with unabashed joy and tears. The second, brought me to my knees, with the introduction of some of my favourite characters ever, and some of my favourite pieces of writing ever. This last one, the third, is perhaps my favourite, for several reasons. The final book, it was always going to be bittersweet, but it broke my heart and gave me joy in equal measure. It spoke to me, in the way that books and their worlds and characters do, of the strength it takes just to live, and not give in to the fear that holds us in its grasp, every day. That to love is the scariest thing of all, but to embrace it takes a strength beyond measure. Because facing our fear is the hardest thing we can do, but by not letting it win, we are stronger and better for it. Mia Corvere, our stabby bitch, is not a hero, but it is not hero's that we need. But people, who can inspire us and show us the way, even in the darkest times. Final day of the #IllumicrateBloodandBlades photo challenge. "However it ends, at least you had a story to tell" - this quote really hit me the hardest. Darkdawn has so many great quotes, but this one just hit me straight in the heart. You don't know how Mia's story will end - but she certainly did have a story to tell and we were apart of it all. To me, that's what I love most about any series. Its not how it ends. That isn't what we'll remember the most. It's the journey. I think The Lord of the Rings movies really show that the best, how its about the journey - and well I mean destroying the Ring was just a little important too. Q: What series ending satisfied you the most? Book/TV/movie/anything I loved the ending of the Sleeping Giants book series - it made me immediately want to go back and reread from page 1, and I think thats a satisfying ending. TV wise, I'm satisfied with the ending of LOST. This is a hill I'm willing to die on - no, they were NOT dead all along. They each had separate journeys, some together, some alone, some ending before others, but they all ended sometime. Everyone dies in the end. Is there a book or series you’d change the ending of, if you could? I’m posting super late tonight because I only now feel like I’ve found my energy for the day. 😢 I’ve been fatigued and just blah all day – I was worried earlier that I might be getting sick, but am feeling more myself now, so hopefully it was just an off day due to not sleeping well last night and the stress of school starting for myself and the kiddos. That said, our oldest started 2nd grade today, online! It was a great first day and his virtual meeting with the class went smoothly.
