My current altar setup - still honoring Autumn 🖤
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Plus my newest edition - my Agathos Daimon 🐍
I found a small branch in the forest that had naturally grown in this curved shape. It brought to life images of the Agathos Daimon - so I brought him home and wrapped him in thread 🥰

Altar in a Box Part 1: Apollôn
Welcome to my Altar in a Box mini series! The first Altar in a Box that I made, and the first one I am sharing with you all, is my Altar for Apollôn.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here is what the altar looks like when you open it up. Here you can see the items inside, as well as the hanging Hamsas. The inscription reads "γνῶθι σεαυτόν" accompanied by the English pronunciation "gnothi sauton" - which means "know thyself". The plants on either side are meant to represent laurels; while they are not laurels they are real plants that I pressed and adhered to the box!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next we have the items inside. From left to right we have salt, a potion bottle, a small container for matches, a pewter cauldron and scroll, a miniature altar - atop which rests a crystal ball inside a silver holder, and three oils; frankincense, lavender, and patchouli.
The potion appears plain at first, as when it sits untouched the ingredients fall to the bottom, however once you shake it up it's more magical properties appear.
Tumblr media
Lastly: The inside of the box is "carpeted" (lined with an old curtain), and on the outer rim of the box I have adhered a match-light strip for my matches.
Tumblr media
Also I forgot to add this in earlier but I have since added a plain white tealight to the Altar Box as well.
My next Altar in a Box post will show you all my Altar in a Box for Aphroditê

Μακάριος Νουμηνία! ||| Makários Noumenia ||| Blessed Noumenia!
This is the first time I am observing the Athenian Monthly Calendar - and my first time celebrating Noumenia. For this, my first Noumenia, I decided to do devotional art to my Household Gods and crate and decorate my Kadiskos.
I created icons for each of my current household Gods. I have my Agathos Diamon, a lightning bolt for Zeus (who I do not currently worship but I wanted to honor Zeus Ktesios on my Kadiskos), a letter for Hermes, a ceremonial flame for Hestia, a kalimba on a sun for Apollon, and a clam and pearl for Aphrodite.
I’ll take more pictures in the morning, once everything is dry and the lighting is better - but I wanted to share this before Noumenia ended.
Goodnight 🌙

Altar in a Box Part 2: Aphroditê
Welcome to my Altar in a Box mini series! The second Altar in a Box that I made, and the second one I am sharing with you all, is my Altar for Aphroditê.
Tumblr media
This Altar in a Box is significantly smaller than my Altar in a Box to Apollôn. This is for a few reasons.
Apollôn is my patron deity - He is the primary God that I work with and worship. In this, I have more to dedicate to Him and also feel more called to do works for Him.
My Apollôn altar was made for the purpose of devotion - my Aphroditê altar was made for the purpose of portability. While my Apollôn altar is somewhat portable - my Aphroditê altar can easily fit into a small bag or large pocket.
I make my Altars in a Box 100% from what I have on hand - I do not purchase any new items for this project. This forces me to be creative - but is also a financial necessity as I currently have no funds to spare.
Tumblr media
Here is what the altar looks like when you open it up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Next we have the items inside. From left to right we have a jar filled with water that contains tiny snail shells, a soft blue tealight candle, a small bundle of matches - wrapped in pink thread, a beautiful ring, and lastly some sea glass and a single seashell.
Tumblr media
Lastly: On the outer left side of the box I have adhered a match-light strip for lighting my matches.
While this Altar in a Box may not be as extravagant as the one I made in honor of Apollôn - it was still made with so much love and adoration.
Let me know what you all think and what deity you think I should do next 💗

When it comes to religion/spirituality - I get so lonely sometimes. I want someone to care about / be interested in all the hard work I’m doing with Kaênaastha rn but I know nobody is.
It’s like having the most niche hyperfixation in the world and no one to share it with.
:(

December Full Moon 2023
December 26th, 2023. The Full Moon sits in the constellation Cancer, a zodiac sign marked by deep emotions, hard exteriors, and sensitive interiors.
Meanwhile, it is Capricorn season, a zodiac sign marked by a grounded sense of mind, a desire to excel, and a motivation towards monetary gain.
Today it is important for all the signs in the zodiac to sit with the emotions in your mind and heart. Do not push away that which upsets you and do not attempt to drown out your thoughts with distractions.
Ground yourself in your current reality, feel the sorrows of the past year but also recognize that what is isn’t what will always be. The new year is a blank slate - allow yourself to dream of what can be.
Do:
- Journal
- Allow yourself to cry
- Meditate
- Water, Earth, or Fire elemental magic
Don’t:
- Suppress emotions
- Spend time around those who don’t care for you
- Gamble/make bets
- Air elemental magic

Stop Judging Your Practice Out of Fear
Stop worrying you’ll offend The Gods and incur their wrath.
Stop overthinking every misstep or fumbled word.
Stop looking at others practices and judging your own, worrying you will never be good enough.
The trees have been here longer than you and look at their scarred bark, their imperfect branches, their gnarled roots. The universe made you out of nothing, and you exist to grow.
So just grow honest - be not afraid.

Tarot Tips
Recent experience I had doing tarot:
[Preface: I have been involved with with my partner for the past 6 years, and we’ve officially been together for 4]
I had an issue in my life that I wanted clarity on, so I turned to tarot as it is my preferred form of divination.
I started by using Deck 1, which is my partner and I’s joint deck. We rarely ever use it without each other (but we do on occasion). This reading came out very obtuse and not at all helpful.
A few days later I used Deck 2, this is the first deck I ever owned and I’ve used it exclusively for reading for myself and others - I’ve never let someone else use. This reading was extremely direct and gave me what I thought was answers. However these answers were anxiety inducing and seemed to make the situation worse.
Finally, last night, my partner and I did some tarot with Deck 3, this is a deck we rarely use - so it was new/neutral to both of us. When my partner did a reading for me from this deck I found the actual clarity and answers I not only was looking for - but needed.
The Point Is: Tarot Decks can become very attached or tuned to specific people - dynamics - and circumstances. And sometimes what you need is a neutral deck for a unbiased reading.

The End of TheWitchFarhan (kinda)
Hello followers and mutuals - after careful consideration I have decided to retire this account. I started this account before I knew much of anything about Hellenic/Roman Polytheism and feel like my journey and path have changed *so* much since that a new internet home is in order.
Ive been working on this for a few weeks now and feel like I’m in a place to finally announce…
The Temple of Hyacinthus
This virtual temple is a place where I hope to share my journey, explore my practice, and cultivate community! This new account is following all of the same people/mutuals as this account is - and I hope you all will migrate over with me to this new space.
I have a lot of plans for this blog (with a possible Discord server in the works 👀) and I am so excited to get started on this new adventure.
Thank you all so much for your support and I hope to see you soon 🥰
