Would love to reignite the discussion of Claudia as the heir, because I think it really does a great job in describing her relationship with Lestat in this version of the story. His paranoia later on in the season almost reminded me of a king paranoid that the prince was planing on usurping him, and I think this was deliberate to an extent since the show literally has them dressed as royalty for Mardi Gras. And the poisoning plot she cooked up is so typical for killing off royalty too lol I just love it!

Yes!!!!! the king's heir has betrayed the king line....claudia's relationship with lestat as a whole is so rich and the deterioration of it is so crushing like the total erosion of trust in someone who was supposed to love you and them repeatedly harming you belittling you threatening you and finally truly trying to kill you...self-recognition self-fulfilling prophecy...Lestat should have swept the bad fictional father poll. and Once again their king lear slay. Also i have absolutely zero reason to think theyre going this route at all but for some reason i keep entertaining the thought of like. a storyline where they go to paris and try to access lestat's coffers and there are like these white men from auvergne who are lestat's great-grand nephews or even illegitimate great grand children who are also trying to access his "inheritance." and obviously claudia is a Black woman from the u.s. she looks 14 she's not biologically lestat's child and louis is not legally lestat's spouse. she didn't even call him father she called him uncle. so much in the same way antoinette is convinced that she has more claim to lestat these french bastards (literal) are convinced they have the actual right as lestat's legal descendants . And then Idk she eats them all or something and is somehow vindicated via some sword in the stone moment that she IS the True heir more than they will ever be blood of my blood evil of my evil etc. but at the same time it's truly awful bc simultaneously it reifies his patriarchal control even in death...there's no killing the father or overturning the order bc it's been dead and hollow from the beginning

Monday round-up:

My digestive system is still a mess. While the shooting pain that registered about a 9 out of 10 is gone, I'm still full of gas and I'm seriously sore. The incision looks good, and I'm not completely black and blue. He sent the piece of bowel he took for a biopsy, so I'll find out this week if there are any surprises. (Fingers crossed).

I got a letter of recommendation from my departing group supervisor and lemme say I kinda felt seen, as an employee, for the first time. Maybe, just maybe I'm a bit more fire than smoke...

LinkedIn is a trip, isn't it? I'm really new to the world of recruiters and theyre...interesting.

Now lemme say: I still have a job, one that pays really well and I enjoy. But I have 3 quarters left in school for my BA, and it's time to start looking to put what will be a degree plus certifications to good use. Plus, we have no certain restart date, so I'm not counting on anything.

That is, except bills.

Speaking of which, the final bill on the mini-split system for install? $6500.

We are just like, oh I dunno, like 2000 bucks over budget. But, the good news is that we bought it last year so we can claim the credit on last year's taxes, and so that kicks back the over budget and then some. It's just the timing of all of this is poor(at best).

It's always something, isn't it?

My mom is doing a Swedish death clean, so my garage is full of stuff that she didn't want to toss but thought I might like, which I appreciate. I mean:

So i need to rant: today is Kurt Cobains birthday, and I live right next to his hometown. The display of 'love' for him today by people who would have scorned him while he was alive was sickening. The only reason why they are embracing him is because of tourism. These are the same people whom Kurt mocked in "In bloom", and they still sing along not getting that they are the joke. And while I still miss Kurt's music, I get why he left that Era of Aberdeen and his family behind.

Anyway, you all ok? Sorry for trying to die, I'm not going to make it a 'practice makes perfect' situation. These guts are just dumb.

So Blizzard announced a Pride event for Overwatch 2, and I'm so torn.

On one hand I'm ecstatic it's going to exist at all. There's more confirmed queer characters, an accompanying story, in game icons and banners to rep your pride. There's even aromantic ones, which blew me away! As much as I'm not a fan of rainbow capitalism, I'm glad there's more and more instances of companies deciding that queer people are worth marketing to. It highlights a shifting change in social perception, which I am a fan of.

On the other hand.

I have already seen numerous people decry the pride event as a PR stunt to shift focus away from their annoucment that theyre dropping the planned PVE content. Unlike other events there doesn't seem to be new skins, a new game mode, or even new voicelines, just the aforementioned icons and banners and a single map change.

Also unlike previous events it is opt in, meaning people can choose not to receive these cosmetics entirely. Their excuse is that they're trying to protect players in countries where queerness is not as accepted, or is even straight up illegal, but I'm not sure how I feel about it.

They say they're going to expend on the event every year, but they're starting with so little already. Is it too much to ask for a Lifeweaver Mardi Gras skin? Or for Tracer to have a pride flag cape? Literally just recolour her summer games skins.

It feels like they've put in minimal effort, which, granted, is about what I expect from rainbow capitalism. And I'm no stranger to disappointment from both Overwatch and Blizzard, so maybe I was naive to think they'd do Pride any justice, but I dunno. I just expected better from them.

Anyone else feeling similar?

They speak polite and proper but when someone pisses em off beyond the line their accent cuts in. I find it funny when northerners move south🤣theyre so many things that they don't know exists

Truly. School festival? Wild i dont think ive ever been to one of those. Not sure mine ever had them but im glad you had so much fun! Its not completely finished yet i get that done next week but its very cool i love it. I have like. 12 piercings now with still more i want. They were a slippery slope from getting two to all the ones i have & want but i hope you're able to get some in the future. I think i like my eyebrow & lip piercings best. Thats a wild difference damn. Its been sunny mostly cool days right now but we keep going from warmer days to rain/snow warnings here. Oh hell yeah congrats! Strange but positive is the best combination to have honestly. Id also love to check out carnivale if that still happens in italy or mardi gras over here down in louisiana if i had time. Just love the idea of big celebration with cool stuff. Oh sparkle is quantum support with action advance & crit damage (?) boost. She's real good for seele or many teams really. I got archeron! Just need to get her light cone but damn was she cool in the 2.1 story. Not gonna spoil if you havent played through yet. Congrats on your archeron pulls! I think i might save for topaz now & get adventurine later? I do like how he plays but ill grab him later i don't think i have use for him yet. Swarm is so annoying i gave up on it for now terrible fuckin enemies. Mood what set are you usin on archeron? I love her talent too just. Insta enemy kill what a time saver. Really did give her a great & interesting kit. Hm ill have to continue & see how complex she is. Been busy with other games & like. Cosmodyssey & the bartender event in star rail. FOR FUCKING REAL but at least using acheron in sim uni lets one skip the non boss battles so thats a massive timesaver and also makes dealing with the swarm a lot less problematic. since you only have to deal with the big guy at the end and not trouble yourself with the occasional encounter on the way. seriously tho acheron is so cracked in sim uni. she let me get the achievement for finishing every battle with all allies at 100% hp. im currently using band of sizzling thunder + inert salsotto [LOL] on her!!! as i said. scuffed but does the job for now. but im gonna get her pioneer diver of dead waters + izumo gensei and takama divine realm since i heard thats whats best on her. and yeah her kit is super fun!! and have fun with that!! honestly fair, tho im just stuck in my holy trinity of hi3 - hsr - noita. also i love the bartender event a lot both story and gameplay wise. very very cool. and thankies!!!!!!!
