after hearing the pitch on your main blog, and scrolling far enough to see the tags you were putting on some posts, i am very intrigued about the everything that is going on (especially with emily) so could i get a brief rundown of the everything pls n thanks you

i spent forever trying to figure out how to tell a "brief" version of this story and this is how i settled on doing it. keep in mind this is the brief version and if you want in depth explanations/analysis on specific parts of the story i IMPLORE you to ask me about it because there is just no way for me to say everything i want to here and I STILL had to omit some details for brevitys sake. ok

two fucked up siblings [paige jensen, pierre jensen] make a company (regrowth) and make cyborgs about it. first one they make runs away but the data they're still getting from it reveals their tech works like.. extraordinarily well with plant life? they build a tech empire off of this idea. they continue making cyborgs as well but the brother has so much guilt about the first go round he refuses any part in it (but still allows it to happen. his sister is the only reason he has any semblance of power, after all.) the sister continues running new experiments regarding combat and medicine and anti-aging and etc etc with her technology on a variety of subjects-- some willing, some unwilling, some already dead before they could say something either way. notable cases include toni finnigan, a terminally ill woman who engages with the project as a last resort and considers herself indebted to the siblings as a result; neil marshall, a young boy who accidentally saw the siblings first attempt to procure that first subject which went horribly ary and got the wrong guy (who was neils father); emily jyung, the scientist overseeing much of the cyborg testing at paiges discretion who decides she can't live with what she's done and seen and submits herself to the process in order to find atonement; holly pendleton, a girl who signed up for a very simple consumer test, took a wrong turn, and found paige jensen elbow deep in some poor guys chest cavity; and vallen rosamel, an addict and thief who makes the great decision of trying to hit on pierre jensen on absolutely the wrong night. pierres inferiority complex keeps him where he is in his position of power even though the weight of the cyborg project and his involvement is slowly crushing him and paiges fear of failure has her spending more and more time on it in a desperate attempt to make something of herself since pierre (charismatic. likeable. dude) gets all the credit for her (brash. awkward. woman) innovations.

meanwhile in like........ summer 2000 that first runaway cyborg falls into the backyard of this scientist with a really bad caretaker complex named francesca (i never call her francesca/frankie tbh i call her fizzle) who sees this thing with cracked glowing eyes and vines crawling out of its arms and goes oh. okay. and takes it in and starts fixing it up-- culling the plant that's affixed itself to this person's core and repairing the technology and finally fitting a voicebox onto it because it can't speak. this person(?) then relays that it has no idea who it is or where they came from, just that there were two people and this impending sense that they needed to leave, now. because of their lack of memories, they decide on a new name for them and they choosd Cherry, after the type of plant thats now in their systems. cherry uses he/she/they pronouns because fizzle (trans woman) asks him about it and she's like Oh. Um. Good question. Let's... find out? and so they use all pronouns and then never change that because those work well enough.

cherry adjusts well enough but they're really frustrated with their lack of memories because they don't even know if they consented to the process or not, they don't know if they had a family, they don't know what they left behind and what's waiting for them or who's looking (side note-- the only thing that feels any bit of familar are songs. something something foreshadowing something something playlist thats a work in progress). it doesn't help that the time they spent between escaping and coming across fizzle consisted of a lot of people being terrified of them and looking to hurt them (one guy literally shoots them like?? two days before they find fizzle????) so she's got this crushing sense that she's missing a fundamental part of herself that makes her able to be """human"""-- or, at least, accepted by humans. and she decides that whatever that is was probably lost along with her memories. so that really bothers them.

anyways a good bit of time passes and then they start picking up this high pitched frequency and fizzle can't fix it nor figure out the source of it so cherry just has to deal with Robot Tinnitus for a little bit. but they figure out that the frequency changes depending on how far / close they get to... whatever the hell the source is. so they wait till dark and they go out and Follow It, and it lands them at this dingy little nightclub juuust in time to watch someone stagger into the alleyway holding their head like they're in pain. or maybe hearing something very very loud. so cherry slowly approaches as the frequency gets louder and louder and more painful and boop! connection found.

the person she's founds name is vallen rosamel and shit has been WEIRD for him as of late. his hair started growing in a different color about four months ago the plants do that just roll with it, all of the substances he was taking just quit working one day, and theyre having longer and longer gaps in their memory every day. and now there's this SCREAMING in their EARS and oh my god. who the fuck are YOU. so after a lot of confusion and a lot of gentle explaining they figure out that vallens the same thing cherry is. which begs a LOT of fucking questions like What's up with that frequency. Who is making them. How is he just out and about. which are all very very important questions but cherry is so excited to FINALLY FIND SOMEONE LIKE THEM that they forget that for a little bit lmao. but cherry convinces vallen to let their friend do a couple of tests (which are very limited. bc the kind of plant vallens got is a citrus fruit and fizzle has a citrus allergy lmao) and what they figure out is that while cherrys got... like... a fourth of a human brain and LED eyes and cybernetic legs and a cybernetic arm and no digestive system and oh yeah NO MEMORIES, vallens got like. some brain, eye, and digestive modifications. and that's about it. the only thing he can't remember are those aforementioned memory gaps as well as however they came about being a cyborg too. sorry cherry but you haven't exactly found someone like you :( and vallen is like okay I want nothing to do with this. no ones gonna fuckin believe me so i may as well just try to live my life the way i have been (spoilers: that life's not good!) and cherry kind of talks to him for a bit. says she understands how confusing and frustrating it all is. but is also like Man you are my ONE HOPE of figuring out what happened to me can you even just CONSIDER sticking around just long enough for me to know you can't tell me anything new. and vallens like ff. fine. anyways that turns into 1 to three years I haven't decided yet. vallen and cherry (and fizzle) are kind of gay about it. it's fine don't worry about that.

anyways eventually Shit Goes Down. vallen gets activated by some other force, stops responding whatsoever, knocks cherry the fuck out and takes fizzle down too when she tries to stop them. all three of them end up in regrowth. uh oh.

cherry gets confronted by paige who has this whole speech but the basics of it are:

-she purposefully sent vallen out into the world in an attempt to find cherry. was going to just kill them originally but decided to let them linger in case she could ever Use Them for her own purposes and apparently that time has come

-never took direct control of vallen-- any connections they've made with him are more than likely genuine because paige can't handle social manipulation like her brother can-- but she was certainly keeping tabs and certainly knows a couple of things even if she doesn't say it directly (like the fact she's calling cherry 'cherry' and not. whatever his name was before. hm.)

-apparently paige has discovered some shit about pierre that 1. she thinks will DEFINITELY bring cherry onto her side and 2. has made her decide that pierre has to go NOW

-"you can either help me or ill just kill you/wipe your memories and return you to testing" and "you can either get revenge on one of us or lose to both of us" as her main points

cherry is having none of this. breaks the fuck out of her containment and runs rampant through the facility, breaking shit, knocking people out, runs into pierre at one point who just stares at her and calls him a name that........... isnt "Cherry" before she just sprints the hell away, up until he 1. locks himself in an old lab, 2. modifies her cybernetic arm by hand to attach a blaster weapon onto it (painful), and 3. escapes into a vent and finds himself in all the backparts of the facility. ends up seeing more cyborgs during testing and is like Holy shit how many people have they done this to. these people need to go home.

keeping this part brief bc the rest of this will also.... not be. I promise I'm telling the brief version here. cherry finds vallen (has to fight him. doesn't want to. does it anyway.) and gets him out of paiges control via dropping a fucking light fixture on him and shortcircuting him a bit. they find fizzle. they go from the lower parts of the facility where the projects been held up to the company building bc they figure out the servers are there and if Cherry can get into those she can find the other bots' memories (and hopefully enough info to incriminate regrowth?), free those, and get them out of there. they get up there and the buildings been evacuated which makes finding the servers much easier. cherry parses the information and also figures out her memories aren't there + her file is mostly redacted. but theres that name again! the one pierre called him!! and if the memories aren't there then. where are they.

sorry no time to dwell on that bc more cyborgs attack! cherry, fizzle, vallen get them their memories back which overwrites their protocols. good news; thats all the active cyborgs left in the building (gonna give u names right quick-- holly (foxglove), mara (hellebore), enzo (chestnut) ) cherry is like we gotta find you guys an exit. as they do so cherry comes across pierres office and is like......... hey. yall go ahead. i need to. check something. fizzle and vallen are like 🤨 but they're like okay. please be careful. and they Go.

this is the part of the story where I advise you to look at the content warnings up above very carefully

so cherry goes into pierres office and starts rummaging around, looking under placemats and taking apart photo frames n stuff, looking to the password to his computer. she finds some stuff-- other passwords, checks, an image of a girl?, but eventually she just says "fuck it," plugs into it, breaks through the password screen, looks through the files and THATS where she finds her memories. finally. after all this time.

so cherry hides under the desk and downloads all of it. all at once. don't worry about that too much right now but this is a disorienting, horrifying experience for cherry to say the least. and as if the memories themselves aren't bad enough cherry is like... why did he know that name but paige didn't. why were they on his computer. why... was a picture of me... behind one of the photo frames.... on his desk .......

and then the door creaks. and pierre sees them. and explains his side of things. we'll revisit that in a bit. so cherry is horrified and is very much ready to murder pierre. and she, uh. does. she chases him down the hall (because of course he runs. of course.), points her blaster at his head, and fires. she just kills him.

and then, because he's still pissed and terrified, he goes to find paige. paige deploys another cyborg (kudzu; dead body that paige essentially pilots and therefore not considered an "active" cyborg). cherry kills that too (lot easier when youre not trying to keep them alive). cherry finds paige. they talk. they fight. beat the shit out of each other. cherry aims and is ready to kill but realizes that's what paige wants. says she'd rather her be alive for every moment people realize what she's done. lets her go. paige watches him walk away, then gathers juuust enough strength to enter a few more commands into her main console, then collapses.

cherry, while trying to leave the building, is then confronted by a previously "retired" (see: shut down and locked up for years) cyborg, neil (lemon). cherry is horrified to see him-- so horrified, in fact, that she doesn't do anything when he approaches and impales her through the stomach with a blade built into his arms. she drops, and he walks away.

cherry then crawls her way back to the regrowth server room, plugs herself into the system, and uploads her consciousness in a last desperate bid to stay alive. they are found by fizzle and vallen later. reporters and police swarm the building, and they retrieve lemon, having found him curled up in an alcove in the wall of the main trial area for the cyborg project. paige jensen is arrested, cherrys body is retrieved to be repaired by fizzle, and regrowth is no more.

... so. ok. let's take several steps back and fill in some gaps here.

eveline ethel woode grew up in the same town paige and pierre jensen moved to when pierre was about 2 and paige was 10. daughter of a textile ceo and an ex movie starlet, she was very much under her parents thumb. her mother blamed eveline for ruining her career, since she wouldn't have had to have left the business had she never gotten pregnant, and her father's anger at the most likely heir to his company being a woman combined with his own alcoholism led to a lot of physical abuse that left eveline with a permanent limp and a broken nose. this treatment broke eveline woode to her very core. which went almost entirely unnoticed (or at least uncared for) by everyone except for one pierre jensen. because pierre-- pierre was not only perceptive (how else are you going to figure out what makes people like you?), but he was going through something similar to eveline. do you know how comforting that can be, to know you're not the only one? to see someone suffering the same way you are? neither of them deserved that. neither of them deserved to be alone in this. pierre, slowly, fixates on the idea of getting eveline out of her situation-- on saving them both. and maybe, just maybe, he'd finally find someone he wouldn't have to pretend for anymore. maybe he'd finally have a solution to how fucking alone he was, maybe he'd,

and then eveline Leaves. at the age of 16, she pulls the strings to get herself a cheap little rented home for the next year in a town far the hell away that has enough of a reputation of being where no one wants to go, and she leaves. and this... isnt how things were supposed to go for pierre. she was supposed to leave with him. she was supposed to be HIS escape, not her own. this isn't the way things were supposed to go, just who the hell does she think she is, taking his ONE CHANCE of happiness away? it's like she doesn't even care what--

eveline woode lands in a foggy little town in georgia and things are okay. she always loved flowers, and there's enough actual air in the sky here to let them grow. she's as alone and isolated as she's always been, and that emptiness never quite goes away, but at least she's safe now.

anyways, whatever funds she was able to scramble together from her parents isnt going to last forever, so she picks up some odd jobs and through that ends up meeting this guy named scott. scott is a father of two and he's been through some similar shit to eveline so he Notices The Behaviors (and she's about the same age as his daughter which makes him worry about her MORE) (also Why is a seventeen year old living on her own in this shitty town thats worrisome on its own) and slowly eveline starts to become a good family friend of theirs. she babysits his son, housesits, shes invited to things-- anything to make her feel welcomed and loved. which is... not anything eveline is used to. she tries to not think about it, considers it as just doing her job and doing what's right but like. she loves the marshalls. and they consider her as much of family as they can. mason, scotts daughter, fills her in on pop culture and his wife gives her gardening and baking tips and he shows her music he loves from his record collection (and she starts a small one of her own, too!) and theyre Happy. eveline woode is happy.

anyways meanwhile paige jensen is relaying to her brother about her New Ideas for cybernetically enhanced people and how hard it's going to be to find a volunteer willing or otherwise and pierres like ".... otherwise??" and paige is like Oh. I mean. we couldn't do that. i mean, it'd have to be somebody NO ONE cared about that NO ONE ever notices that has NO CONNECTIONS and NO and pierre sees an Opportunity here. and he suggests a target. because she can't be doing that well for herself anyways, right? not without him there. paige has already perfected memory transfers; all he'd have to do is modify them a little and then everything would be the way it was supposed to be. maybe it's a little grotesque, maybe it's immoral, maybe it's too far, but it'd be worth it in the long run. it'd be fine. it'd be fine. it'd be f

pierre finds eveline, follows her for a few weeks, figures out a path she takes at a certain time in the night that's just secluded enough for him to grab her and leave (besides. bad town. lotsa police reports go unchecked. this Can't Go Wrong)

it goes wrong. someone rounds the corner and pierre goes to hit them over the head and realizes it's a man. but the guy gets spooked and falls ass backwards and impales himself on a fence which was NOTTHEFUCKINGPLANHOLYSHIT. and to make matters worse, the guys son rounds the corner too and at 12 years old neil marshall watches his father scott die and gets a good look at pierre jensens face in the process.

so. scott dies. eveline thinks of it as some divine punishment for anything good happening to her. returns to her self isolating ways. the marshalls never see her again. December 18th 1999 pierre jensen goes to her home directly, knocks her out, and drags her away. it's not until december 24th that anyone realizes she's gone and by then there's not many leads besides some missing items, a broken window in the door, and her own blood.

so when subject 0 runs away and pierre is also faced with an ultimatum of kill a 12 year old or submit him to the same fate as his sister that's kind of when he realizes that umm. uh. maybe this was a bad idea actually. because the ONE THING he was in it for is gone and, as far as he knows, dead. but his face is on magazines and he's catapulted into popularity and he has a company to run, doesn't he? and after so long of feeling powerless, of feeling like nothing, can he really bear to give that power up?

so. additional things. neil marshall gets his memories back and ends up spending a lot of time waiting for cherry to get repaired and wake up because he needs to tell eveline he's sorry and that he misses her and also that he's sorry. fizzle and vallen kind of get the fill about eveline from neil bc the poor kids gotta talk through this shit good god. cherry gets repaired and is functional, hypothetically, but she still doesn't wake up.

so from the database he's still in, cherry is the one sending out information about the story. there's this desperation to understand why they're here and how things ended up like this and to make people know what happened to them. what happened to eveline. because cherry has lived their own life with their own experiences that have shaped her own ideologies and attitudes and shes.... not.... eveline. not anymore, anyway. and this crushes them in so many ways because things were getting so much better for eveline for such a long while there and SHES the one who deserves the friends and the family and the revenge and the peace of mind but she DOESNT GET IT. she'll never get it, because cherrys the one who gets it. because eveline woode died on december 18th 1999 and cherry is what has grown through the gaps like an infection and how much of her is even left there, really? something something commentary about haunting the narrative and being considered less of a character and more as a motivation when you always deserved better from the narrative you were stuck into.

anyways. cherry does eventually get back into their body, reconciles with the fact that eveline is not her humanity and that maybe he never was human and that's okay because it's him and that's all that matters, continues to have turmoil about it but it's. fine. rough reconciliation with the marshalls because he's not eveline but they deserve to see eveline alive again so here he is. cherry pushes on and values the life he has and can only hope that that can in some way grant evelines memory peace.

anyways cherry would be 43 years old today and i think he owns a record/head shop and still goes to therapy once a week send fucking tweet

Everyone read my ramblings. 👇

Shape language is defined as “a concept used in art and animation to communicate meaning based on shapes we are familiar with” (source). This concept uses circles, triangles, and squares to convey an idea of the “personality” of the design without using any words.

In designs, using circles and rounded edges in your silhouette and detailing gives the design a soft and squishy look. They tend to be harmless, approachable, or changeable.

Designs using squares gives the design a solid, sturdy, and strong look. They are supportive, reliable, and inflexible

Lastly, triangle designs are sharp and directional. They are dynamic, dangerous, and unpredictable.

Here are the main silhouette shapes i used, i wanted to generally use one main shape for each of them. Everytime i normally draw sabo, i just think to myself “this man is just a big-ass square,” and im right. This art is such a long time coming im glad to finally do it.

Luffy and Sabo may be the circle and square, but theyre so triangle coded they simply needed triangles in their design as well. Technically luffy’s whole body besides his head is a big ol triangle too, but i felt that a circle for his torso looked better. And also Sabo’s cravat is a triangle as well, but im only using 3 shapes to outline this picture rn. Ace is just straight up all triangles though.

This was such a fun little exercise, i think these little guys came out so well. I dont usually draw in this kind of style so it was a very nice breath of fresh air.

what do you think about how corlys and rhaenyra were adapted bc i haven’t heard any takes on them outside of incessant team discourse

(anon amended to rhaenys in a follow up) i like the decision to have corlys ride really hard for rhaenys’ inheritance over viserys and it being ambiguous as to exactly how self-serving this is thats fun. like he does love rhaenys a lot but theres this Other element of him as a guy who is intensely ambitious specifically for proximity to the iron throne. would have preferred them to keep him significantly older than her esp w this dynamic between them i think his seniority is interesting though i see why they didn’t. his willingness to overlook the strong boys parentage to have his name on the throne even if he knows they aren’t blood is soo something esp bc hes patently wrong abt history remembering names not blood EVERYONE remembers whose blood the kids were its a great historical joke. self centred proud and ambitious hes kind of classic targ i love his early rivalry w otto and wish they’d done more w the idea hes this intensely worldly strategic genius. i probably will not be watching his spinoff if they do one tbh i think pure hbo projects in the got world are doomed to fail but lovee steve toussaint in the role

rhaenys clearly conceived for the show as a proto-feminist mentor-type which i do have some problems w i think she jumps between that and extremely jaded and defeated by how a patriarchal society has fucked her over and instead of feeling like shes supposed to be both of these all the time they tend to feel like two different hats. she puts herself forwards and is publicly rejected in front of the eyes of the entire realm and that takes a political and psychological toll. in ep2 when she remarks to rhaenyra abt men putting the realm to the torch before theyd submit to a woman thats not said w intent to change it its put as an immutable fact of life w almost vindictive pleasure. just you wait. she seems for the most part exhausted by the idea of throwing herself back into politics shes relegated to a sort of eyerolling commentator while ambitious corlys tries to gently cajole her back into caring about her claim for what shes fully aware are partly his own ends. what anchors her as a member of the family and as a successful woman in society is her kids laenor and laena are both sweet and attractive and make great matches and shes very close with them both and then theyre both killed practically overnight. then corlys is dying possibly dead and even though shes literally in kl for the succession conversation she ISN’T invited to the viserys last supper before he dies shes the only other family he has and no one even considers inviting her. rhaenys loses everythingg while being basically ignored and then both teams immediately jump at the chance to have her blessing for the optics. and all this is really solid interesting rhaenys stuff and then occasionally they have her wear a modern feminist talking point mouthpiece hat and scorn alicent for not girlbossing her way to the top of the patriarchy when rhaenys herself is INTIMATELY aware that isn’t doable. i love rhaenys i hope they do rooks rest well and i really hope they explore her extremely mixed relationship w daemon and rhaenyra. need more team black infighting theyre playing dysfunction catchup

scalpel was born katherine anne scranton in a aristocratic type household at the turn of the 20th century in new york. growing up she did many thing typical of a woman and took particular interest in ballet. the strength of the human body, the stress it could endure, the beautiful shapes it could make enamored her. when she got an injury in high school and could no longer participate in ballet she decided to pursue medicine instead, studying it vigorously and campaigning her father to let her study it further in university.

her father, who had no older children and no son, decided to allow it and work with his connections to get her into a school where she could study medicine. in university she did very well, she was very cutt throat, she knew she had to be better than the best of the best of her male classmates to get anywhere and so she did so, enabling her to get into medical school after university, there in medical school, she continued doing as much as she could in order to avoid scrutiny, however, many of her male classmates did not like having a female classmate that did better than them, it humiliated them and they wanted her gone.

one night, a male classmate of hers followed her home, and fearing for her life she killed him with a sharp hat pin she always kept with her. after which she was careful to dispose of the body knowing if she was ever found out it would be her that was presumed guilty no matter what.

after medical school she struggled to find a residency that would except her despite her top scores, leading her to the foundation that was really the only place willing to hire women into a mens role such as hers at the time. although, even then she didn't have any female colleagues.

in the foundation she was very guarded but very driven. she quickly made a lot of advancements. her primary inventions during her tenure being adapting clockworks orthodox standardization to lay the groundwork for all foundation augmentation paratech. and the invention of invasive amnesticization by which ppl are amnesticized through the combination use of amnestics and brain surgery. there are several techniques named after her although nowadays theyre more likely to be automatically associated with her grandson, robert scranton.

in the foundation she also married a younger man, marcus, who was an intern at the time and later her personal assistant. marcus was very loving and doting, regarding katherine as something of a celebrity, as at the time she was of similar fame as the senior staff we know and love today. she was not a very good wife to him, as her experience with men in the past made it impossible to trust him, always fearing somewhere in the back of her head that he could turn on her and that this might be some sort of long con. a lot of the things she does in their relationship is to maintain power over him so that that cannot happen and she is very rarely affectionate towards him except for when shes inebriated and isn't thinking about how if she shows one soft emotion she'll be recognized as vulnerable or decried as a useless emotional woman. (during this time she also has some sort of relationship with her female rival selma of nalkan descent of ambiguous homoeroticness)

her marriage with marcus is often criticized by her coworkers but never for the reasons it is actually bad, just because they think it's emasculating for marcus and weird, although many of them have worse dynamics and age gaps with their own wives.

they have a child together, the child takes the last name scranton bc katherine wouldn't dare not have her last name passed a long, not be remembered, it was only under that condition that she decided to get pregnant in the first place. she is not a good mother, emotionally distant and extremely demanding, she wants a legacy and her son is going to make that happen.

at some point, founder starts requiring round the clock medical care for his illness and starts looking into the use of paratech to extend his life. wanting the best of the best he employs katherine to essentially work under him and be his personal surgeon, allowing her to continue her other research. however, just a couple years later ww2 happens, and in addition so does the 7th occult war, the formation of the chaos insurgency, and the creation of the ethics committee. with the creation of the ethics committee, a majority of katherines projects are scrapped. fearing her defection she undergoes the procedures shed been developing for the purpose of creating perfect blank slate factotum, that preserve her skills while also stripping her of her memory and personality and reforming it to suit the needs of her o5. here she gets the name scalpel, and no longer remembers ever even having the name katherine.

after becoming scalpel not much in her story happens for many decades as she has very little agency. shes made to believe her memory is more faulty than it is to keep her on her toes, fearing being scrapped. she meticulously keeps a daily planner to keep track of her day to day appointments and such, worried even one mistake will have her recycled, killed with all her paratech in her body going to the next o5. she takes care of founder and his many augments, she does work for other o5s, augmenting them and their factotum as requested. she is perfectly quiet and obedient and out of the way. and that's about where she is in the modern day.

there are many ways her story could go from here, and ive come up with several different variations, however, this post is already quite long so i will end it here.

( im considering writing a courtrasha prequel fic eventually just because i love them so much ... ) court is an art student and arasha is in marketing, which makes for a very fun golden retriever x black cat dynamic ... theyre just one of the healthiest couples on campus and they know SO MANY people (it amazes spencer because he literally only knows them, kiana, shayne, alex and trevor)

It was something in particular about how in the BTS character story Perth said Ken always calls Big "P'Big" wheras Ken is always "Ai'Ken" to Big that really. OOF. Also the way they come as a little duo 90% of the time (do not separate them)

The unevenness of it all. Ken being the more outspoken and physical and confidant one but Big being his senior and superior (a dynamic that sticks even when Ken becomes Kinn's head bodyguard)

Big still being in love with Kinn. Ken's name being just similar enough if its whispered between the sheets. I just. God. THEY. It's the fact they're best friends, they're kind-of eachothers only real friends but even by the first time we ever see them Ken has been betraying the main family for a long time already and Big would never forgive him if he knew. It's Ken resenting Kinn because he knows Big is in love with him. That's not why he's the mole, thats not the whole reason. But it was the seed of resentment that gave Vegas the "in".

Oh and it's Nodt saying he's glad Big died before finding out Ken was the mole. FML.

I think my actually controversial opinion is that it's one of, if not *the* best ship in KinnPorsche. On the fact that it has Pining and unrequited love, and they were roommates, and doomed from the start, and proxyfucking, and friends with benefits, and friends to lovers, and and and and. It's everything. Also Perth and Nodt hot. I rest my case.

Listen. Between the ring (matching Tawans, matching Kinns' boys too) and Gun saying "What the fuck were you doing with Vegas?" I knoW it happened. I KNOW.

2. What are your favourite things about the ship

I really enjoy Vegas' use of english to like exclude or lie or create this sense of insular separation between him and others. And I think it would be incredibly interesting to watch Ken get lulled into a sense of security by that. To immediately feel like he was on the inside of an inside joke with Vegas and develop a carefully manufactured closeness in a way he never could with Kinn.

Again I feel like I'm running into a worrying theme of "I just love their deeply fucked up dynamic" but I love the idea of Ken having a bit of a god complex over the fact that he "has" Vegas. As we know with Tawan and Porsche, Vegas is so incredibly good at showing the side of himself that's most endearing to his mark. To Tawan it was the promise of a soft and equal love and devotion, to Porsche it was that he was a plucky underdog "just like him" and to Ken it has to be that Vegas "loves" Ken more than Ken loves him. Of course he does. Ken is better than Big. It's easy for him. Mafia heirs fall at his feet and he's not smug about it he's not, he's not thinking about Big no he isnt! he isn't he isn't he isn't.

Sorry for being dense but can you elaborate on your post about Norah?

tldr the call is coming from inside the house and the house is the UC Fayetteville sorority house and the den mother is miss val :)

we know from several former gymnasts' accounts that miss val had a pattern* of treating some gymnasts (most, even!) on the team very VERY well, and a select few (or notably and most sadly, sometimes just one) like total garbage. the trouble maker, the scapegoat, the designated whipping post.

we also know from obvious developments and patterns therein that ucla gym in the last 4 years has metastasized onto arkansas. and that miss val was influential in getting jordyn the HC position in the first place when you look at her and her husband's connections to the arkansas athletics dept.

waller was miss val's AC for like ~15 years. hiring him as a HC and her successor was a formality more than anything. nothing significantly changed when he replaced her, other than the absence of her mystique and cult of personality. which, granted, i can imagine sucked all the air out of the room. she is, after all, miss val.

we know that the environment was pretty toxic in norahs senior year. there is nuance to the exact details of a lot of what happened but it was indisputably a tense training environment. we can assume, based on how literally anything like this works, that the groundwork for that tension and toxicity was laid gradually before that year had even started.

so anyway, shifting focus back to ark. jordyns experience prior to landing a head coaching position at the age of 24 was ENTIRELY under miss val's tutelage. not just that but at the same program, within the same university's athletics admin, for only a few years. and on top of THAT, she hired her besties from ucla, including her then-bf now-fiancé (lol), onto her coaching staff. this is already not a great situation obviously.

at the beginning of this year, norah comes to ark as a 5th year transfer. supposedly to be closer to her bf in atlanta (.....😐) but also because she has an established relationship with the whole coaching staff. bc theyre basically all ucla transplants who have known her for years (jordyn and kyla for literally a whole decade going back to norahs junior elite days, long long history there). shes also a huge fan favorite and an amazing gymnast who deservedly gets very high scores.

i hope you can see where im going with this but bottom line is: looking at some of the eyebrow-raising stuff we've seen gymnasts and their families/friends say or hint at, putting all those things on a timeline, comparing that to gymnasts' arrivals, departures, injuries, underperformance compared to potential and expectations, etc. it seems a lot to me like things were not going great before this year, but it has really come to a head this season. and taking all of the above into account, i think norah's transfer was a catalyst for all that to really get going

jordyns mentor as a coach, basically the only coach she has ever studied under AND all within the only program she had ever worked for, is someone we know to be extraordinarily toxic and manipulative. and she remains a constant (predominant) presence in jordyn's career and the arkansas program as a whole. like deadass she moved to fayetteville and lives there at least part time jfkdjkfdjfk.

so no its not an unfortunate apparent coincidence imho and i dont think its all that crazy of me to suggest that theres a common thread here and not just "aw darn she transferred from one toxic team to another one that turned out to ALSO be toxic. :(" and for the record i certainly dont think that norah is one of the people suffering from the status quo within that program rn lmao.

there's also a lot about norahs last season at ucla and the team dynamics that i wont get into, primarily bc much of it is unconfirmed and based on rumors, ones that i realistically have no way of verifying, but also bc i feel like the above paints a decent picture of what is going on in a general sense without it... :)

*it also seems that this only happened in a few key years when the team was, for whatever reason(s), extremely polarized. other years the team was much more balanced. im not a fly on the wall so i wont speculate as to why that necessarily was but if you go back thru her seasons as a coach the Vibes are apparent

Favorite Thai QL: 3 will be free! It's the second one I watched and I couldn't believe how poignant it was. The way the show positions every life as meaningful and every person as connected... Also ot3 beach makeout!!!!!

Favorite pairing: Offgun hands down. It snuck up on me and look at me now. Most underrated actor: Probably Neo or Jennie. Not many shows have a character like Rome, who is confident and flirty and knows himself.

Most underrated series: He's Coming To Me!! It's so well done and the main leads are three dimensional and compelling. I watched this when I was emotional and the way it depicts grief (it's a romance between a ghost and a guy who can see ghosts) is so tender.

he’s very grateful to have duško around himself, don’t get him wrong, dude’s exceptionally talented and dedicated but to the point where it becomes creepy, and it’s only because he got reassigned to fenrir that they don’t have the type of symbiotic relationship the ruler and their bodyguard usually has

fenrir watched duško literally not eat, sleep nor move from gandr’s bedside for days leading up to his death and almost withered away himself, genuinely worried if he should die now too because of his failure/him now being useless with nothing to protect and fenrir thought thats weird n creepy i don’t want to take part in a culture that raises children to think of themselves that way. (fenrir and duško do have that in common, feeling expendable and unwanted and like failures, and unfortunately also the self-destructive ideation) sure ylva has a bodyguard who’s very talented but they’re also her friend and have their own life and all. better that way

it was a controversial decision to not get her a porcelain bodyguard, their most prestigious families were practically getting pregnant and preparing babies to be shipped off to her as soon as merope’s pregnancy was announced, just for fenrir to be like um no thanks. however thanks to the fairly recent scandal of vasili (neighbour kingdom’s crown prince’s own bodyguard) getting married to his liege it caused a bit less hubbub than it normally would have.

fenrir and duško are fairly close mainly bc they’re both introverts and don’t bother each other, but there’s the unusual dynamic of du��ko at times holding power over fenrir: duško is older and has known fenrir since he was a small baby, and there is that remnant of fenrir thinking of duško as “big brother’s cool friend” that knew cool tricks. especially in the beginning fenrir did often lean on duško for comfort and still relies on him to get him out of anxiety-inducing situations, and also holds his opinion in very high regard

this is also bc duško and gandr were so grown together and duško could basically read gandr’s thoughts from a flick of a finger, there is a LOT of gandr in him that fenrir still sees. so the love for gandr that fenrir had and still has kinda has moved over to duško - my brother trusted you, i trust you. but on the flipside duško has a lot of mannerisms and speech patterns he picked up from gandr because they didn’t spend a single day apart for like 20 years that make fenrir sad and in the beginning gave him a lot of anxiety because he was still grieving gandr and it hurt to hear duško talk like he did. like my brother is gone but his ghost still lingers in his shadow or something something. its a comfort and an anxiety at the same time

fenrir and siðar get along surprisingly well despite their initial meeting which started with siðar (in his 40′s) barely issuing a challenge and fenrir (about 21) wiping the floor with his face and breaking his nose, though they dont meet very often with siðar being away on the seas for the majority of the time. he does try to visit a few times a year and usually him and fenrir go fishing or something to catch up

they get along mainly bc theyre very similar in personality, dry, sarcastic, easily annoyed, straightforward and foul-mouthed little shits - siðar feels really bad for fenrir after learning of his story, wow our dad was a shithead, huh. well, considering siðar never even met him it makes sense.  does feel really bad for fenrir when he realized the pressure he’s under and the mold he was forced into after first being rejected so harshly. also they’re both horse girls and siðar has his kelpie he shows up on and fenrir thinks its the coolest

he doesnt have kids of his own, a partner or two maybe i dont know yet, he just chills and sails, makes fenrir feel a bit better bc siðar is 20 years his senior but isnt like a super mega rich successful guy so it helps fenrir calm down like maybe i’m not lagging behind actually. maybe its okay to not achieve absolutely everything or have everything figured out before youre 25.

bc he visits kinda rarely and doesnt stay for too long hes mainly buds with fenrir but merope likes him too (but we know she has a thing for rabble rousers), of the kids ylva enjoys his travel stories and alex has thought he’s the coolest thing since sliced bread since he was a little toddler. siðar has brought him shark teeth and egg casings and fish scales and all sorts of things and alex is still so hype when uncle shows up. nepheli thinks he’s quite scary and siðar is okay with not handling such a tinysmall toddler for now.

him and helle also get along, used to spar when younger and now that helle cant do that anymore they usually just sit and chat, siðar has gotten a bunch of information about his dad and stepmom and also gandr from helle when fenrir got too anxious and sad to talk about them. has offered his baby siblings to go kick their moms ass (was also pretty disgusted to do the math that his stepmom is the same age as himself, what the fug) but they said nah don’t bother. helle is also a fan of his horse she thinks its awesome

duško doesn’t like him much but is cordial as he is with everything. siðar does like his dogs but isnt allowed to pet because they’re “at work” as if the fox does anything remotely useful

so if fenrir is now in his 50s, siðar is in his 70′s so hes an old man, but very spry for his age. looks great too. the salty sea air has been kind to him

merope almost got whiplash when on her honeymoon bc as soon as fenrir got out of court and from under so many eyes and they didnt communicate by writing (which he famously sucks ass at and had all his letters proofread so he didnt dare to be himself in them) the man was... relaxed? attentive?? funny, even??? downright cute????

anyway she fell in love hard with him there and ditched her plans of maybe annulling the marriage and running back home and the rest is history. sometimes sad history but hey

one thing i'd like to address is that now that paxton is a member of sohs faculty, there's.....definitely even more of a gap in where they are in their lives, and also a bit of a power dynamic at play (and like, okay, yeah, whatever, devi's not going to be on the swim team, but like, the point still stands that he's staff and she's a student) and theyre at different points in their lives, even if they're only one year apart. i mean, devi's priorities are finishing senior year, getting into an ivy league, and going to prom. paxton's priorities are being assistant coach (assuming thats what his job is) and, like, paying his taxes or whatever. and good for him!!! i'm glad he's growing into adulthood and getting a job and whatnot! but like they're at such different places in their lives, they want different things! they were never built to last and thats okay - devi got to know what it was like to be with him. she got to be The Paxton Hall-Yoshida's Girlfriend. but he's not The Paxton Hall-Yoshida that she fantasized about anymore! he's (again, assuming) assistant coach hall-yoshida of the sherman oaks high school swim team. he's ready to enter the world of a job and taxes, meanwhile devi's set for spending probably close to the next decade of her life in school. and we already know she wants to go to school on the east coast, meanwhile paxton's dream school was in the southwest and now it appears he's back on the west coast.....idk it's not looking good for d*xtons!!! sorry!!!!!

Yeah !! I think Caden would very much respect and admire Vil, and look for him for advice sometimes on clothing designs or something else. Caden looks up to Vil for how confident and direct he is, and Vil would usually give him tips with make up or fashion. Vil would also give him critique because well they're in Film Research Club (Caden does the costume design there) and honestly they probably don't consider each other like close friends or anything but they just validate each others work so! they vibe, basically. Vil is like a mentor to Caden in a way.

Caden doesn't know Epel that well, but he thinks he's cool!! Epel probably hates that he has to slightly crane his neck up when talking to him though (short ppl problems -_-) but they probably had a talk about family business once and kinda vibed! Also they're buddies because Epel makes apple carvings and Caden makes chocolate sculptures and theyre like 🤝 making shapes from food.

Caden and Rook ... Caden doesn't really know how to feel about Rook. Obviously he's his senior so he respects him, but Rook's nature of being curious and sometimes popping up from nowhere or spying on people very much puts Caden on edge. Especially since Caden's whole unique magic is subterfuge and shrouding and Rook's whole thing is seeing and tracking people down. Caden would probably be a bit sassy with Rook sometimes, but there's also a degree of mutual respect because Rook is like "wow Monsieur Mixer (thats his nickname fr Caden lmao) this chocolate sculpture looks very lifelike!! your new design looks beauté" or whatever the hell Rook says idk french . and Caden's like "You're sharp as always Rook-san" and walks away slowly . idk they're silly as hell <3

Caden isn't really as dramatic or theatrical as other pomefiore students, but they get along! He remembers everyone's faces and names and they will just hang out sometimes. Caden's kinda known for being good at a lot of different things so other pommy students sometimes look for him to get some help on like, potionology or something. The one thing Caden's not very good at is music though, he can hum a little tune but he's not a very good singer and other pomefiore students are the only one who knows that akdhjshd people outside the dorm are probably surprised that he cannot sing for the life of him

hey bug!! i hope you dont mind me terrorizing your inbox with anime idols again :) i'm reworking my insert and wanted to!! talk about him a little if you don't mind!!

my previous idea had him as primarily a solo unit, with him teaming up with madara as a unit together sometimes!! in the !! era, units are like. super mega important to be part of, best there are lots of events (like the ss finals) that require a unit of two or more!! madara is the only character in a solo unit (called MaM) and so he's theoretically the only one not allowed to partake in the finals. anyways, in reading some of the stories i realized as fun as madara is, he's also the kind of person who'd be really exhausting to deal with a lot???? plus even if that weren't the case, considering his other line of work he'd definitely turn smile down if he asked to work with him.

so my current idea is to stick him in undead because they are my favorite unit and i would like to cuddle with all of them. smile's aesthetic is way too cutesy for undead but that can be his charm point :) they have this whole!!! demons of the night bad boy vibe but they are all so kind & caring & loyal.... rei is described as a "demon with more human kindness than anyone you'll meet" or something along those lines and like. yeah. yeah he is. during the ! era he does a lot to help trickstar with their rebellion and ALSO hes just a rlly good senior (most notably towards the twins but really just in general). also rei has a coffin he keeps in the band room and he just sleeps in it. not related to his kindness but it is one of my favorite rei things. kaoru has this whole playboy thing going on and he acts like he doesn't want any meaningful relationships with anyone other than a hot girl, but he really does care about his friends so bad!!! i dont have a solid example but i believe there's a story where he offers his home to kanata which is so sweet to me. koga is very vulgar and quick to violence but he ALSO cares for his friends so bad he's so loyal. there is many a joke about the wolf being a lapdog and similar and like. yeah he's a huge puppy. i love him. and adonis is so super protective!! hes canonically INSANELY strong and so he gets nervous around small or delicate things bc he doesn't want to hurt or break anything... grr wait i like totally devolved into undead lovemailing BUT. i love them a lot and they started as a sort of "we're just here for the convenience" kind of unit, but they grow to be SO IMPORTANT to eachother and i love groups that are like that. i think the main thing abt undead is that they come off as either untouchable or scary on the surface but in reality theyre so caring and so i think my insert would fit in pretty well with them :)

this is gonna be a bit long. so anyway the og reports are p straightforward about what Composers (specifically, joshua) can and cannot do:

- Joshua can only pick up Hanekoma’s vibe, because Angel vibes are too high frequency for him to pick up

- Inter-planar contact (so, communication between the UG and the Higher Plane in this case) is difficult, which is brought up because

- The Composer, Joshua, only resides in the UG.

- But the Producer, who is an Angel, mainly resides in the Higher Plane, and only occasionally lingers in the UG.

The whole matter of jumping between worlds highlights the difference between their abilities even more:

- As Composer, Joshua is one of the beings who can jump between worlds, but isn’t meant to do so often. His vibe dipped too low, so Hanekoma had to come retrieve him, because as an Angel this sort of travel is simple for him.

the OG reports make it pretty clear Joshua isnt an Angel

*But. unfortunately its not that easy. because by clearing the final time trial joshua gives you an item called Angel Feather (天使のハネ in JP), of which the description says “Our buyer used divine means to acquire this mysterious feather that was once in the possession of Shibuya's Composer.“ (which some have interpreted as, “in the possession of” meaning “it was given to him” potentially by hanekoma, who actually IS an Angel)

and if things are vague, we turn to the JP to clear us up! but its. still vague there bc it says “バイヤーが特別な力で入手した渋谷エリアのコンポーザーが持っていた謎の羽根“ (The mysterious feather that was held/carried by the Composer of the Shibuya area that the buyer obtained with a special power)

so. we are none the wiser about whose feather this is. i imagine its up to interpretation whether its joshuas feather or hanekomas, who then gave it to joshua. but given how clearly the reports differentiate between the Composer and Angels in regards to their abilities, suffice to say theres two interpretations that are most likely

- Composers arent Angels, their power disparity is just too much

- Composers are Angels, but theyre so much weaker compared to the Angels who reside in the Higher Plane that they’re never referred to as Angels, just as Composers

which takes us to neo, and hazukis little lightshow

i think its notable that the reports dont comment on kubos so-called “exorcism”, and only on haz erasing his noise.

haz himself refers to his little stunt as “exorcising” kubo, while in JP he actually says haiki 廃棄, get rid of, revoke, invalidate.

i think its important that he clarified “i didnt erase him, i exorcised him”. because with kubo, the executor, being an Angel from the Higher Plane, a Composer shouldnt be able to erase someone of higher ranking than them. i think as the person who called upon kubo in the first place, haz could specifically revoke his services and send him back to the Higher Plane.

which means kubo wasnt erased, he was just sent back. hes still kickin

we could leave things right here as they are. Canonically, Composers are so far beneath Angels to a point where even if they were Angels themselves, they are so much weaker than them that they could hardly be referred to as such

this is where the facts end. but im gonna keep going and have fun speculating about things and include some i dont have physical proof of (yet)

its notable that in JP, hazuki says that kubo tried to purify shibuya probably because he wanted to be praised by Hazuki. which is weird if kubos supposed to be higher ranking than haz. (in EN, haz just says hes always been an overachiever) but lets put a pin in that for later 📌

which takes us to the matter of Shinjuku’s Producer. or their lack thereof

throughout all of neo’s reports, there is not a single mention of Shinjuku having a Producer. before neo, we kind of assumed every UG’s setup follows largely the same structure. a Composer, a Conductor, a Producer, and then some Reapers. but Shinjuku does not seem to have a Producer. and i think its because it doesnt need one.

its important to remember Who is writing these reports and Who theyre for. the reports are written by shibuyas Producer, and theyre written for the Higher Plane. and shibuyas Composer cant pick up the vibes of any Angel except hanekoma, so he cant be the one writing the reports for beings he cant even pick up the vibes from, especially since he only resides in the UG.

and yet, hanekoma comments that Hazuki should have filed a report, and that haz is disinterested in the lower planes.

in English its a little vague about who hes talking about, but the JP specifies Shinjukus Composer as the subject of this sentence.

throughout both reports, the UG and RG are considered part of the lower planes. its strange for a Composer to have no interest in the very planes they govern, plus for a Composer to file a report to the Higher Plane when its been established that Joshua, as a Composer, cant even perceive anyone from there.

so i think Hazuki may actually be a proper Angel from the Higher Plane, who was potentially demoted to become Shinjukus Composer.

though you can very much interpret haz “exorcising” kubo as simply “sending him back whence he came”, its of course pretty anticlimactic to see this massive laser beam essentially disintegrate kubo on a molecular level, only for it to have been a quick ride back to the higher plane with kubo being perfectly in tact after. if haz were actually much more powerful than an ordinary Composer, itd make sense why he would have been able to erase an Angel like kubo so. thoroughly.

this would also explain why kubo may have wanted to be praised by hazuki in the JP dialogue. with hazuki potentially being an outlier for Composers and being far Higher ranking than kubo, our executor may have wanted to sucker up a bit. maybe get promoted and away from his “basically a janitor” job if haz puts in a good word for him upstairs

theres also hazukis entire demeanor, and how Bad he is at acting like a normal person

we know of four paths that Players can take

they can choose erasure

they can choose resurrection to return to the RG

they can become Reapers

they can become Angels

and Reapers can eventually become Angels, though its yet unclear if the only way for that to happen is

for them to become Composer (potentially the Lowest Angel-rank there is) and thats it.

or if Composers can ascend and become Actual Angels and eventually reside in the Higher Plane, though how a successor for the seat of Composer is chosen in that scenario is yet entirely unknown since Usually the seat only becomes vacant when the previous Composer is defeated

or if they, as a Reaper, need to Ask the Composer who then asks the Producer to send a guy for evaluation or something

or if the Higher Plane has like, a talent scout guy somewhere.

potentially more than one may apply but at least the last point is the most likely, because

Conductors are invited to the Higher Plane (probably to become Angels) upon purification

(interesting to note that Composers are not mentioned as being invited, which would point to “theyre Angels, but like, weak-ass Angels”)

anyway, the point is that so far weve been told that Angels were Players or Reapers at one point. we know Joshua was a Player for sure, given the morsels of backstory we get from him and Hanekoma. but we dont know if All Angels came from the RG at one point, or if Angels that have always been Angels exist.

either way, the point is that for Hazuki to act so non-human like and to be disinterested in the UG and RG, he either must have been an Angel for a very long time, or he was never human to begin with.

this is relevant to how he interacts with joshua in the Secret Ending, though its a lot less obvious in English, in JP their dynamic is clear: Joshua is his senior, and as his junior, Hazuki looks to him as an example.

for one, thats hilarious. secondly, that recontextualizes like everything

‘course, you could keep the interpretation that theyre just Both weak-ass angels and hazuki just made kubo use a flashy dramatic elevator to the HP and nothing groundbreakingly powerful happened, but thats kinda anticlimactic

so. staying w the idea that hazuki may be a demoted Angel from the Higher Plane, then itd make sense for Joshua to have been Composer for longer than him, and for haz to act Like...That, since he couldve been not-human for a Very long time, or Never was one in the first place, but is still a younger Composer bc he got demoted like. 4 years back or something.

it also explains why Shinjuku may not need a Producer, and why Hazuki is the one writing his reports. its because hes still an Angel from the Higher Plane, so he does not need an intermediary to contact other Angels.

so to summarize what im tryna say here

Hazuki may have initially been a regular Angel from the Higher Plane, before he eventually got demoted to become Shinjukus Composer, despite how disinterested he is in the UG and RG. (he is considered to be “infamously unsympathetic”, a trait which is reinforced in the JP version to be something he is known for amongst the Higher Plane, which could potentially be the reason for his demotion)

Since hes Joshuas junior, that means he hasnt been Composer for as long as Joshua has, so Hazuki looks to him to know what youre even supposed to do/how to act/etcetera as Composer. With his Special circumstances, he does not need a Producer as an intermediary to interact with the Higher Plane, because hes already an Angel so he can do it himself.

whatever Angel Hierarchy there may be, Hazuki is at the very least a higher rank than an Executor, considering how kubo wanted to impress him, and how haz effortlessly got rid of him. with kubo being from the Higher Plane, joshua is decidedly lower ranking than kubo, and cant even pick up his vibe. which clearly positions haz into a unique circumstance as a Composer bc of this discrepancy in ranking and power. amen

theres other things that back this up but i unfortunately do not have a source for them, so This section, take with a grain of salt.

Supposedly, in neo’s data files:

Joshua is referred to as an Advanced Angel

Kubo as a Junior Angel, and

Hazuki as a Senior Angel

i only heard this secondhand and have no way of corroborating this myself, but if this is true then that lines up with the super long super sexy little essay i just wrote up there

this “ranking” solidifes Kubos position as Hazukis underling. which, if he were an ordinary Composer, wouldnt even be possible.

Joshua is notably a different rank from Haz, though its difficult to figure out if “Advanced” is supposed to be Lower than junior, or Higher than senior. thats up to interpretation until its possibly ever acknowledged,

but my interpretation is that an Advanced Angel is lower than a Junior Angel. i think “advanced” in this case is meant to refer to the traditional evolution of players to reapers to the composer, advancing from one status to the next.

so in the files, theyre designated ranks are as follows

Joshua: 男、天使上級 ※前作  (Male, Senior/Advanced Grade Angel ※from the Previous work)

Hazuki: 男、天使上級 (Male, Senior/Advanced Grade Angel)

Kubo:   男、天使下級 (Male, Junior/Lower Grade Angel)

so haz and joshua are the same rank bc theyre both Composers! since thats an internal data text kinda thing it might not have any bearing on like, potential Technical exceptions since they Are both the same “job”, but mightve gotten it under different circumstances.

as for kubo potentially being lower ranking than even a Composer, i think unless we find out what a Producers ranking is, we cant say much abt whether an Executors lower or higher. i kinda mean it in the sense of,  Producers are a Composers subordinate bc they follow their orders and have to create the things theyre tasked to make by the Composer (pins, etc), but may still be “higher” in ranking because they reside in the Higher Plane/jump between parallel worlds, while a Composer cannot. an Executor may be in a similar position where theyre a Composers underling, tasked by Composers to purify things, but may actually be “higher” in ranking because they reside in the higher plane, etc!

i think regardless of whether kubo turns out to be lower ranking than joshua or not, hazuki could still be Even More Higher in a way where he actually has like, sway over whether he could get a promotion! if that was his intent. he could also just be a huge suck up. a real kiss ass. teachers pet for angels

and i additionally remember an interview, though i dont have a source for this claim and i could very much be misremembering, but i recall seeing the reason for hazuki not being the final boss is because they did not think players could suspend their disbelief far enough to accept that the twisters would be able to defeat a being from the Higher Plane.

which is perfectly reasonable, but

Composers are meant to be able to be defeated by Players or Reapers. if hazuki really was so powerful that itd be impossible for them to defeat him, then hed be far too strong to be an ordinary Composer, since thats. how you take over in the first place. thats kinda the whole plot of og twewy.

the only issue i ever have with the age thing is when people try and make it seem like c!jack is decades older than tommy when hes (canonically, cc!jack confirmed his characters age is the same as his own) only a year and a half older than tommy. people like to act like its the evil adult against the vulnerable child but its just two traumatized teens trying to survive

that’s true, jack and niki in my head are very close to tommy’s age.

then again, they are older, and when you’re a minor even one or two years is a HUGE difference to you. when you have a friend in a lower grade you’re usually well aware of the fact that you’ve been to more school then them, the stuff theyre doing is stuff youve already done, you’re more experienced then them and can therefore give advice—

like they might try to pretend those power dynamics aren’t there (especially if it’s seniors who want to date freshmen) but in reality they are.

and YET, jack and niki are still teenagers. i do not think their dynamic with tommy is that of two adults versus a child, i think it’s a dynamic of three teens. they are closer in age.

so basically what i’m saying is, i’m kind of a centrist in this particular issue— no rocket duo don’t have adult power dynamics towards tommy, BUT, they do have a power dynamic, even if it’s a much smaller one.

niki moreso then jack. (not because she’s older, but because she’s treated like an adult by c!wilbur and dubbed the First Lady, whereas jack and tommy have been more on the same foot the whole time; if not jack LOWER then tommy because tommy was the vp)

random plot bunnies from my seojun x sujin brainrot on a fic that i might?? or may not write. based primarily from k-drama, following the webtoon plotline:

so, this is set in the future, maybe about five years in?? so theyre all 25 years old at this point and seojun’s a well-established idol (singer)

seojun’s nutritionist provided by the agency is going to resign because she's six-months in into her pregnancy and wanted to focus on raising her children

seojun feels a little disheartened at this point; a lot of the time, being an idol, the few constant things he could rely on was the same faces of the team that took care of him - because in other aspects of his career, he has to meet new people a lot, and his scene and environment changes so much

so this was lowkey a blow for seojun, who just wants every sense of familiarity, regardless how little, to sorta stay?? the same??

but he can’t really have much say on it too, because a lot of the team members who took care of him which he has are provided by the agency, and he knows the agency will be doing placements for that too

but then his nutritionist sorta knows he’s a lil sad (she’s become like a surrogate older sister for him) and she’s like, “i have someone in my mind. she’s... a little rough around the edges. she’s been through a lot. but - she has a good heart. like you.” the nutritionist smiles, “i think the both of you could get along well!”

so the new nutrionist? that’s our badass girl, kang sujin.

now sujin has already known that her senior wanted her to replace the position for han seojun’s nutrionist because her senior trusted her to do a good job, but sujin’s a bit queasy about the entire arrangement if she’s honest

she wants to say no, but her senior has always been supportive and strict in ways that’s got her shaped up to her best ability, and she just didn’t have the heart to say “no” in the end

so on the day they met, seojun recognised sujin immediately, and sujin, at first, pretended that she’s only met seojun for the first time

seojun consecutively tries to trigger some sort of reaction in sujin, but she deflects pretty well? every time he tries to confront her, she’s like “hi mr. han seojun” and “what can i do for you today?”

even during their private sessions while sujin goes over seojun’s daily food and nutrition intakes and adjusting new set of schedules for him, sujin’s all serious. she’s gotten close to snapping at him - but then she quickly just, “noooo :) im not mad :) what do u mean”

after a while, seojun sorta lets it go and focuses back on training

his team is planning a tour, maybe even concerts outside korea, and seojun’s lowkey scared because even though he’s toured and flown to various countries to perform at this point, he still has the anxiety

he wants to be so good to his fans, wants to do his best now that he’s come so far to the point he essentially sacrifices a chance at a relatively ordinary life

but then, he starts overworking too

seojun’s never been the best dancer, you know; he could always make up for it with singing, but he still?? doesnt feel like it’s enough???

and then one day sujin just comes barging in at his apartment, mad, because seojun’s had a fever and couldn’t train for two days now and turns out?? he hasn’t really been eating as much as he should, or he’s not drinking as much as he should

that was the first time sujin showed any sense of familiarity from their high school days

she gave him a good whip, talks to his doctors, and adjusts his diet according to his schedules and for the next week, she sorta comes quite frequently to make sure even when he’s training, he’s doing okay

seojun comments that she’s “scarier” than his last nutrionist, and sujin’s like, “good. it means you’ll listen to me.”

one day, he starts asking her to stay just a while instead of just leaving, which she always does, and he’s like “have a beer. what, you have a strict diet too?” and sujin reluctantly stays? even tho she’s awkward and quiet

finally seojun’s like, “why did u pretend u didn’t recognise me?”

and sujin’s just.... “didn’t you hate me?” referring to what she did to jugyeong (implying the k-drama events i assume?? but imma keep this vague as hell) and she just, “i did something horrible to the girl you love.”

and because this is seojun, esp their dynamics dkjhksdhf, he’s just straight up, “yeah. you were a bitch.” because to him, that was the facts, you know

sujin sorta stays quiet, but then she puts the beer down and like?? “i don’t have to explain anything to you.” but seojun’s like!!!!! thats not what he meant!!! and hes just, “hey no! sit. you just started relaxing, right?”

but after a minute he comments under his breath, “i didn’t know you were this sensitive.”

but then sujin quietly replied, “she was my friend. i loved her too.”

and that sorta got the two of them quiet, but then seojun decided to change the topic because its Its_Too_Awkward.jpeg, “last i heard u were gonna be a doctor. your dad’s professor Kang right? he treated my mom.”

and that sorta??? causes sujin to tense up, but then she deflects with a snappish, “why are you so interested in me?” “i’m not! i’m just asking questions.” “i should be asking you questions - why the hell did you think it was a good idea to pull the shit u did now that your touring schedule is in the talks? how are you supposed to perform if you can’t even stand?” “aish, didn’t you already nag me?” “you’re so stupid, i’m scared you’ve forgetten”

they started bickering again but that night was really what triggered for sujin to be a little more relaxed with seojun, and for seojun to sorta - try a bit harder to?? not be friendlier, no, but he likes that he’s known her from an era in his life where he didn’t have to always be a face in the screen.

more and more, seojun asks sujin to stay and have dinner after she’s done evaluating his weekly meals and they have a better comradeship

he starts anticipating her more when she comes to evaluate another idol or something at the agency and he’s just!!!!!!! “you’re here? why are you here? did u miss me already? what do u mean i’m not the only one you’re treating”

and then slowly we also found out why she didn’t become a doctor (she didn’t wanna follow her dad; and she still carries the guilt of what she did to jugyeong and admitted, more than the result of her father’s anger, she likes the version of her who always wants to help others - and, she can memorises easily, so... nutritionist didn’t seem bad)

sujin starts bringing in board games or sometimes she sneaks a few of supermarket-brand goods since seojun’s been behaving with his meals and vitamin intakes, and the one time seojun’s invited to a tv show where it has quizes, she tutors him the whole night so he “doesnt make a fool out of himself”

she also starts to keep up with whatever show he’s in, and she’s always texting him that she’s watched him with this horrible washed-out screenshot because she takes the photo on her laptop with her phone. and her texts are all “the dance was good” and “you’ve improved that move huh” and then sometimes “idiot. why did u answer like that”

sujin makes fun of her for not being able to take a clean screenshot, but he never really leaves her un-replied

and they started talking about relationships - how they were both so enamoured with suho and jugyeong respectively, and for sujin specially, how she can’t wait to be loved by someone who can make her feel like suho’s not a big deal at all

but then she admits she doesn’t think she deserves to be loved, and sorta has this sad smile, and seojun confesses that he’s scared if he loves someone, he has to lose them due to his career

and they’re really sad about it, but the night also isn’t as bad cause they had each other
