SAILOR SENSHI 20TH ANNIVERSARY ALUMNI REUNION - FANSUBBED
EDIT on Jan 3rd: SORRY. I couldn't stand how many mistakes I see in my edit despite multiple checks I've done before Jan 1st... I ended up reuploading the videos instead. Can't guarantee it's perfect now, but it's much better (from the creator's perspective.) Anyone who reblogged before Jan 3rd will have the old link that's now broken.
This is the TV version, aired on CBC in Japan on December 25th, 2023.
Due to YouTube's upload length limit, the show has been split into 3 parts based on the provided commercial breaks. The videos are unlisted on YouTube, so cannot be searched, instead only accessed by the proper web link.
Some notes & disclaimer:
1. I’m not a fluent Japanese speaker, but I do know Hiragana, Katakana, basic Japanese grammar and kanji, and a few good tools to use for translation. All’s to say, all mistakes are mine. Sorry if there’s any!
2. I’m also not a professional translator. Due to the grammar differences between Japanese and English, some sentences will sound awkward in English for the conversation to make sense.
3. This really was a casual chat for the ladies, so they kept talking over each other. I tried to highlight all the chit-chats with colour-coded subtitles matching their Senshi colours. Because of this I tried different formatting and decided on the layout you see now, even if it's still a bit messy, and some subtitles are quite fast-paced. Sorry if it doesn't look good or is tough to read. :(
4. The character “会”(kai) in “戦士会” (senshi-kai) can be translated into: - “Club”, a noun for group; - “Meetup” or “reunion”, a noun and synonym for “event”. Depending on context, you will see “戦士会” (senshi-kai) translated into “Senshi Club” or “Senshi Reunion.”

Upcoming:
I will be working on a subtitled version of Miyuu's behind-the-scene video of this program. (JAN 7th EDIT: The subbed version is available here!)
A Director's Cut version will be made available in Japan on Jan 9, 2024. I'll keep an eye out if there's a copy floating around. If there's any difference in that version, I'll also make a subtitled version for sharing as well. If there are any translation mistakes I've made in this current round of subtitling, I'll also take the chance to rectify them in the new version.
PLEASE ENJOY, REBLOG AND SHARE! 🌙

ENG SUB: JokerOutSubs x RADIOAktivno collab: 'Umazane misli' Album Presentation
We are very happy to have been able to collaborate with Boštjan Najžar from RadioAKTIVNO podcast (Facebook, YouTube), who very kindly reuploaded the removed video on YouTube again and agreed to collaborate with us by adding subtitles!
Below you can find the transcription of our translation of the interview, which originally aired on 23.11.2021, on Radio Prlek/RADIOAktivno YouTube channel.
Everyone: We are Joker Out.
Bojan: And you are listening to RADIOaktivno.
Boštjan: We've heard 'Gola' by Joker Out, from the album 'Umazane Misli'. Today with me on the RADIOaktivno show on Radio Prlek all the members, Martin, Jure, Kris, Bojan and Jan.
Everyone: Hello.
Do you have any dirty thoughts?
Jan: Every day. Yes, more and more. That's what connects us, that's what's always stuck with us. I think we're born with dirty thoughts. We've just released that on a CD.
Now you have finally made them public.
Bojan: Yes, it took a while, but these dirty thoughts have changed in the last two years, since the album should, in theory, have been released originally, they have evolved a lot. And they have evolved in such a way that we are now really very happy with them. So, yeah, the physical form is finally with us.
Anyway, Joker Out, you've been playing your cards successfully for a few years now. Are there many Jokers in the game?
Kris: Yes, there are exactly five in the game, right? Each one special in their own way. That specialness and dirty thoughts, as they say, unite us, too, don't they. I don't know what else to add to that.
Do you play cards?
Jure: Do we play cards? No. Socially, we don't play cards. No.
Bojan: We’ve actually never played cards.
Jan: We were at the casino last time.
Bojan: Hey, we were. And on average, I think, we were in a deficit, just two euros in total, or four.
Jan: Something like that.
That's a good result.
Bojan: Really good.
Kris: So kids, don't go to the casino.
Bojan: Yes. You will always lose.
Five Jokers, well connected.
Martin: Seems pretty well connected to me. We kind of complement each other nicely in what we create and what we do. What else can I say? Well, if there are only two Jokers in a deck, here we have five. Kind of.
Bojan: Like the Power Rangers.
Jan: Yes. Power Rangers. Power Rangers. Power Out. Joker.
Bojan: Is there a pink Power Ranger?
Jan: Joker Rangers.
Martin: There's a pink Power Ranger.
Bojan: I am the pink Power Ranger. Bojan.
So does each one choose his own colour, or is it assigned to a particular member?
Kris: Yes, I think basically the colour is assigned based on his character and temperament. So maybe pink really suits Bojan, yes.
Kris, which one for you?
Kris: Yes, I don't know which Power Rangers are left.
Bojan: Red, yellow, green.
Jan: You can have one of your own.
Bojan: Black.
Kris: Is Jan the black one?
Bojan: Jan is the black one.
Kris: Jan is the black one, right.
Bojan: Jure is the yellow one, right?
Jure: Am I the yellow one, or what?
Kris: Is he the yellow one?
Martin: Nooo.
Bojan: Yes, I don't know, is it?
Kris: I would say, the green one?
Jure: Green.
Kris: Jure is...
Bojan: Green.
Jure: Well, come on.
Kris: Hey, what's left, red and blue still, Jurko?
Martin: Yes, yes.
Jan: Jurko is more…Martin is more the blue one.
Kris: Well, I'm the red one and Martin is the blue one.
Power Rangers are always in action, are you always in action too?
Martin: Yes, especially lately, I think, that we're pretty much in action. Well, from all points of view, musical and others, socially. What else can I say on this topic?
Jure: There's a big thing in the works right now. So, we have to split up the tasks and that's it, yes.
But there's a lot of "sweet" work now?
Jure: Yes, yes and no, right?
Bojan: If you interpret it that way, it's much easier. If you tell yourself that it's "sweet" work, then many things that originally are not directly related to music, but are just things that we have to do along the way, to be successful, it could work, after all. We have a lot of "sweet" worries, we often have worries that we would like to or be able to give to someone who tolerates them better than we do, or just not have them.
Kris, were you going to add something else?
Kris: I just wanted to say that there's a lot of sweet powder as well. To get this, the context of one of the songs will come in handy.
UMAZANE MISLI
Gola' was the opening track, the second will be the title track for the album, 'Umazane misli'.
Bojan: Yes, 'Umazane misli' is one of those extremely upbeat, good-mood songs, which was kind of our attempt at Brit pop and we feel that it was very much the beginning of a certain vibe that we would like to maintain. It's also a very particular song because it was sung by one of my classmates from college, who had never sung or stood in front of a microphone in her life, so it has that touch of naivety. So yes, a very beautiful song that I hope we'll listen to.
Umazane misli' by Joker Out's album with the same name. You are a five-member band, I read online, you started from the ruins of Apokalipsa, in 2016.
Bojan: Yes, on the ruins of Apokalipsa and then Buržuazija (Bourgeoisie). These were the two bands that kind of broke up and then formed this current whole. Except for Jurček, Jurček joined us this January from the ruins of many other bands where he was forged.
But Buržuazija is still active. So you have taken away a member from them?
Jan: Yes, they got replaced. I mean, no matter what, Buržuazija always finds a way to its position.
Kris: True. The class struggle continues.
Jan: But, yes. I mean, this is a band that's replaced every member five times, at least, so...
Bojan: They're really a living organism.
Jan: Resilient. They're resilient, yes.
Martin: That's the question, right, if you replace every part of the boat, is it still the same boat?
Bojan: No, it's not the same boat, but it is a very good thing for Buržuazija, because I would say they are in the best possible shape right now. Maybe I dissed Jan and Kris with that, because it wasn't so good when they were there, but yes... Great band, still, or rather now.
Kris: Yet I 'Still' ('Vedno') enjoy it.
Jan: Yes, that.
Then today, Jure, you are actually the youngest member, joining the band?
Jure: Oldest member but youngest in the band, yes, I think.
In experience with Joker Out, I mean.
Jure: In experience with Joker Out, yes.
Bojan: He's the only one with a sweater on, so actually, kind of, the levels balance out.
Jure: I try to get on your level.
Have you received him nicely?
Kris: Absolutely. He's fitted himself in so perfectly into our band that I actually sometimes forget that we've been together for... - Just... - ...less than a year.
Bojan: He still has to adress us formally and eat at a separate table.
Jan: He did make us a really great roast once, so that's when we finally accepted him into our band.
Bojan: True, yes.
So you also have entrance exams in the group?
Bojan: Informal ones.
Given that Jure is cooking a roast to enter the group, what did the others do then to get in?
Martin: That is only for the members of Joker Out to know, right? Something like that.
Anyway, we first got in touch in 2017, Kris texted me then that you had a song, if it could be presented on the radio. If we could do an interview, but then Kris immediately left Bojan holding the bag.
Kris: Yes, that's when I, I don't know, I think I got lists from my mum of 30 music editors and we wrote to everyone when we released our first single 'Omamljeno telo' and I was genuinely surprised and I thank you, for even answering, so thank you very much. I really did, however, leave Bojan holding the bag at the time and still, I would do it again. That's just the duty of the frontman, or how should I say it? He has privileges and duties.
Usually the frontman is the most exposed member of the band.
Bojan: Yes, that's just kind of how it goes generally, but I will say that we have, especially in the last few months and in this final process of making the album, greatly expanded the public exposure of the whole band. And I personally would like to see this be brought to the maximum level, if possible, so to say, to be as exposed as possible. Not only because I find it to be right, but because I also sometimes feel like not going to every single thing.
VEM DA GREŠ
The next song will be 'Vem, da greš'.
Kris: What can I say about this track, listen to Bojan's sufferings.
Bojan: No, we have one interesting thing about 'Vem, da greš'. Vem, da greš' had three forms. It was a very slow balladic song at the beginning, but it kind of got on our nerves during the recording process and we didn't know what to do. We ended up speeding it up a lot. Mark Pirc, our video producer, had to edit the whole video again and shorten it by one minute, because we'd also shortened the song. Jan recorded the last guitar parts two hours before we sent the song to be mixed, so two months of work was practically in the trash, in such a bombastically short time before the mix itself.
Kris: May I add, it doesn't look to me like it was all garbage, because we would never have come up with this in the last four hours if we hadn't done that two months before.
Bojan: But Žarko clicked 'move to trash', 'delete'.
But then it was left in the bin anyway?
Bojan: It was left in the bin, yes. And also on his old computer, so we'll never hear that stuff again, even if we wanted to.
You've been accumulating experience on stage for quite some time, from various competitions and things like that.
Kris: Yes, it's true, as soon as we formed as a band, we also started looking for gigs, because we knew it was the only way for people to actually hear our music and feel it. Because what you see on YouTube, maybe doesn't capture you as much as live music. And there are, basically, at least for young bands in Slovenia, quite a lot of opportunities to show off, various competitions and bands battles and so on. And we've entered everything. Even when we weren't playing well, we thought we were better than everybody and we went to play. And basically, well, apart from showing off to the audience, you also get to know a lot of the young music scene, with whom it's very good to link, and I think that this has also helped us a lot in the long term.
What has it given you?
Martin: First of all, I think that these opportunities make it possible for young bands to come out of some kind of closed space, where they feel comfortable since they practice in front of each other and create some music to perform and show what they've been creating for the audience and let's them see how the audience reacts or, especially, how they don't react to your music at the beginning and it gives you some first experiences that are very important for then performing in front of larger audiences on bigger stages.
How is it, being in such competitions or opening for a more famous band that has stage experience behind them?
Jan: The first time we played as the opening act for Big Foot Mama in Domžale, I kind of felt so privileged, I was, I think, so privileged to be able to take part in it. So without going through that and being an opening act to bigger bands, also you can't become what they are now. So, 25 years ago, yeah. So, yes, it was interesting to feel a really big stage for the first time, right. And now we're kind of almost used to it, I think.
Kris: Do you know the song 'Garbage Hip Hop?'
Today it's different when you're the one on stage.
Jure: I don't know, I don't know if it's different. I think you have to make the same effort. You have to make the same effort. Maybe, okay, now people, people maybe percieve the opening act and the main band a little differently. But still, if you play what you what you agreed on, if you have good energy, communicate with people, it doesn't matter whether you're the opening act or the main band.
Bojan: Are you going to tell me that you don't feel a thousand times sexier on stage right now, than you did then? Don't lie.
Jure: No, no, I don't know if I do. No. I mean, I'm at the back, I'm the drummer, it's the same to me.
Bojan: Drummers, poor drummers, they never see the crowd and they can't even be seen on stage. But we'll buy you a pedestal, my dude, three metres high, dude, for everybody to see.
Jure: Lights.
Bojan: Then you're gonna see.
How do you feel as a singer now, when you're the frontman in a band and you have an opening act, compared to when you were the opening act?
Bojan: Yes, it's really one of those interesting leaps that we actually can't believe has already been made, I will say, honestly, as if we were just now realising that we had come to this point that someone is our opening act. We really do have a lot, a lot of work to do. But we are very happy to do a concert and there's somebody else before us. But we know that this role was ours, literally, for the last four years and we have always welcomed it with the greatest joy and pride. And it's a must on every musician's journey, so, yes, we're looking forward to a lot more opening acts, and hopefully as many as possible, that then will be back as the main ones, in the future.
To make the competition fiercer?
Bojan: Absolutely, I think that without good and healthy competition, there is no scene at all. So the more musicians we have, that are growing and that people are listening to, the more we will have an audience that wants Slovenian music.
PROTI TOKU
Is 'Proti toku' next?
Jure: Proti toku', that's a new song, yes. We finished this one together, right? After I joined the band. So, this is one of the latest ones. I don't know what else to say, 'Proti toku'.
Kris: Okay, so 'Proti toku' is the first track, you're going to hear from our new album and it's brand new. It's actually fairly well known amongst our audience, because we've been performing it for at least three years, I believe. But it's in a completely new format because we turned it upside down three times in the studio and we hope you like it.
Considering your music, are you a rock band?
Martin: We're definitely a rock band. By the way, we discussed this just yesterday, how as young performers, well, we are still young performers, but in the early days, we didn't know exactly how to define our genre. When we were asked what our genre is, and we were maybe a bit thoughtless, or you could say thoughtful, when we replied that our genre was 'Shagadelic' rock and roll, which is still what we all agree on.
And if we translate that, what is that supposed to mean? We know that there are many different kinds of rock.
Martin: I don't know how to translate that, as somehow...
Bojan: Fuckable is a literal translation. Fuckable.
Then we know which audience you are targeting most.
Bojan: Yes, everyone who is looking for...
Kris: Middle-aged males.
(laughter)
Jan: I mean, yeah, yeah, we are rock, right? I mean, rock isn't just leather trousers and beer, it's also smart clothes and beer.
Bojan: It's the eternal question of defining who is rock and who isn't. In our band there are three electric guitars, a bass and drums and I think the sound of our guitars is distorted. I don't know what else people want from us. Now, the fact that we're young, obviously, objectively speaking, girls find us charming, obviously degrades us into not being rock or something, according to many people. But sorry, not sorry, Guns N'Roses will never be on our setlist.
Were you in a dilemma at the beginning about what to play and which direction to follow?
Jan: We definitely were. I think we have quite different musical backgrounds. At least I was a little bit more metal at the beginning, which didn't really suit the other members, because Bojan doesn't sing "raaah". His voice is more delicate. Then, yeah, we explored a little bit, experimented some more with funk, but it didn't work out, because we just aren't... that funky, well, but... So, yeah, in a bit of a roundabout way we've reached this Shagadelic style, which we still hold on to.
How many adjustments were there at the beginning then? And brainstorming, different ideas, ways of looking at where to go and how to move forward?
Kris: Ugh...
Others: We still do that a lot. - It still happens.
Kris: That's constant. It's always present. It's a shouting match and the loudest one... No, no...
Bojan: And if you shout the loudest, you win.
Kris: Yeah, yeah. No, but seriously usually we had very different ideas, but somehow we at least let everyone speak their mind, and if it was really bad, it was just... Like that, the rest... But if anybody had a half decent...
Jan: Why are you looking at me now? (laughter)
Kris: Sorry... (laughter). But if anyone had a half decent idea we were like, okay, let's go and try to develop it and somehow we've always found a joint thread, invariably.
Would you also take a vote when you create then? To vote, like in a democratic fashion?
Jure: No, we don't, we don't take votes.
Bojan: Žare has this...
Jure: Yes, we do understand and know each other enough, so we know exactly which buttons we can and can't push.
Bojan: Our opinions don't really count, because in the end, Žare has the last word.
The producer has it then.
Bojan: Right, yes. We often bring the arrangement and then after 25 seconds we're faced with dissaproval and a horrified look on the face of Žare Pak, so we have to get back and rehearse ASAP.
The expression says it all.
Bojan: It tells it all. All of it, all of it.
Jan: And the vowel, right?
Bojan: He uses a vowel, ə... - əəə...
Several members: əəə...
Martin: Which we hear quite often in the band, right?
Bojan: Now we can write a book called 'The Thousand and One ə'. And Žare, we'll basically take Žare's, we'll write a whole book out of one ə.
After all, the Slovene language also has several e's.
Bojan: There are more, but believe me, Žarko probably knows even more of them.
DOPAMIN
Next up will be 'Dopamin'.
Martin: Dopamin' is a very exciting song from the album, because it's quite different from the others but it's still Shagadelic and it's ours and you can hear that. Although we kind of went out of our comfort zone creating it and what's particularly interesting to me, it's how well the fans have embraced it. So let's listen to 'Dopamin'.
Kris: Dopamin' is actually the best song to play after this whole rock 'n' roll debate we just had. It's a song that was essentially created two weeks ago, let's say, to completion. We had already been working on it with no real progress for a year and a half, because we, I had lots of different lyrics, this is actually a song I wrote, lyrics and melody for the most part, the only one on the album, and there was constant back and forth between Bojan and me, who's going to give in and when will the final version of the song be good enough.
Bojan: Yes, I would like to say that I am extremely happy, that Kris's debut made it onto the album and I'm not apologising to him one bit for any rejections that may have come his way, because they've led to a great song.
You have ten songs on the album, is there more material, is this a selection?
Jan: Yes, we've written at least 70 thousand songs in our life, but...
Martin & Bojan: They're cherry-picked.
Jan: They're cherry-picked, right. It's the cream of the cream of the crop. Well, yes, there is already more material coming up for the next album, which will be released at some point we've written at least one song.
Bojan: And a half.
Jan: One song and a half, yes.
Martin: Which won't pass the ə-test, right. The ə-test we were discussing earlier, so we'll see what happens.
Bojan: People always want to know how many E's are in their food, but we're interested in how many ə's are in Žare's answer.
There can be a lot of ə's in the studio with this technique.
Bojan: Loads.
Although I do miss some songs from your ealier period on the album. Have you separated then those perfect beginnings from the more recent period?
Bojan: Yes, actually we said that we would like this album to sound cohesive and represent our choices for example which period defined the Joker Out people know now. We have many songs that were part of our beginning, and we're not ashamed of them at all, but we feel that maybe they stylistically and sonically don't belong on this tangible product we have in front of us now. But we're discussing how and in what way we can put them into, if possible, physical form, and present them to the whole of Slovenia.
How do you go about creating then? Do you have a dedicated person who does the music? who writes the lyrics, or do you work together?
Bojan: I mean, people from the label usually come in, bring all the material...
Jure: And the money.
Bojan: We go to the photoshoots, pose and smile, do some interviews.
That's what most listeners think, but I know that's not the case.
Martin: I have one comment. Yes, this, this label is the Cultural Arts Association Joker Out, isn't it?
Bojan: Yes
Martin: Kind of. This label takes care of the whole creative process, finance and everything else, really, so we're pretty much the ones to blame for our own fate.
Kris: Right, in fact, this is how our creation process flows, as far as music is concerned, we all work together. You can start a song by, let's say Bojan or I can start making a framework for the song, with the lyrics and the melody, or someone could bring a melody on guitar to the rehearsals, a groove on the drums, like, a chord progression and we just build from there and then usually Bojan will write some lyrics over it and the melody and then we build it up until the producer screws it up, as we've mentioned a couple of times today and then we try to glue the pieces back together somehow.
Bojan: We're doing a mosaic, through and through.
Kris: Yeah, yeah, right, right. But in the end, the suffering is always worth it, obviously.
So gluing is popular with you, too.
Jure: Gluing is popular? Yes, it is. I mean.
You take a little bit from this song and cut up the other one.
Jure: Exactly. We can't do without it, yes. But it's more Žare's job, it's what he does.. We put together some stuff when we rehearse, we think it's nice, we record it, we're like, okay, smashing, let's go to the concert and let's promote it. And then we get to the studio our plans crumble..
Martin: As a label we have everything ready, but then we're just not on the same page as our producer.
Bojan, then you're the one who's responsible for the lyrics?
Bojan: Yeah, most of the lyrics on the album are mine, yeah.
Jan: Or the main culprits for the lyrics are the girls, who captivated Bojan in our favour.
Are there many of them?
Bojan: Well, you know how, I'm fascinated by, not only by the girls, girls as well, of course, but I'm fascinated by everyday things, a glimpse of... Every single glimpse of the world can fascinate you or disappoint you. When I write it's more often out of disappointment than out of fascination. But yes, I think there is a lot of inspiration around us.
BARVE OCEANA
Next up will be 'Barve oceana'.
Jan: The next song is 'Barve oceana', yeah. It's a song which has the colours of the ocean. Well it's also a song, that's undergone quite a lot of changes. At the end we added one genius synthesizer sound.
Bojan: We used this weird organ belonging to Žare from the '70s.
Jan: Žare's organ from the 70's, pardon me.
Martin: From Sweden.
Jan: Yeah, does anyone else have anything to say?
Bojan: Was that all you had to say, because...
Jan: I don't know, dude. What would you add?
Bojan: Yeah, 'Barve oceana' is one of those songs, that conveys, I'd say, not discontent, but more of a concern about the direction our society is heading in. Our consumption is increasing and very few people ask themselves what they can give back. It's about a certain desire to distance yourself from the material towards, let's say, the more elemental realm.
You've won several music awards recently, in the last two years, I believe?
Bojan: Yes, in 2019 we were awarded the Golden Flute for Newcomer of the Year. In 2020, we received the Golden Flute for Artists of the Year. This year, our song 'Umazane misli' also won the Radio Maribor and SI Frišno Award the favourite song by audience vote in the previous year. I don't know, did we win any other awards? Except...
Martin: Yes, there's one coming up. So, the publishing house Cultural Arts Association Joker Out, will be honouring Joker Out with the most Shagadelic record of the year award, so we're expecting it and looking forward to it. (laughter)
And you'll probably get a plaque as well, a gold or diamond record for record sales.
Martin: That's right, because that's what the label would give to the band. So we haven't decided on the colour yet, we're considering platinum, diamond. But we're going to discuss it at the label and then present it to the band, something like that.
What do such high sales mean?
Martin: Yes, it means that basically the CD as a product is not just for listening to music, it's also an experience for the listener. We've put a lot of effort into the design of the CD and I think it's a good looking tangible product. But at the same time, the listeners support us by buying it, so we're very grateful.
Is it just storefront sales or does it include digital sales as well?
Bojan: Digital sales as well. Actually there are some standards applicable, in terms of how many streams count as an album sold. We, of course, do not follow them in any way, because we're self-published and we can totally get away with it. So when Martin said, we're going to give ourselves one award, I believe we'll be handing out many. It is because when people come to our place, it will look like we've already got decades of awards behind us.
Earlier, you also mentioned that you participated in the Frišno Fresh festival and played with the Big Band. How did that feel, when your song actually got a whole new arrangement?
Bojan: It was phenomenal, because we, I'll say, we're all fans of the musicians, who were in the line-up. Maybe Jan's words after the concert or during the concert would best describe what it meant to us.
Jan: Yes, I listened to the band perform this song and I've been a long-time fan of Primož Grašič and Blaž Jurjevčič. And when I watched Grašič, let's say, as he played my piece, I got... It was just a special, special feeling. It was just... Yes, exactly.
Bojan: Emotional.
Jan: Emotional.
Bojan: Please don't cry Jan, it's okay. We're wiping away tears, it's okay.
But overall, all the compositions sounded very good.
Jan: Yeah, really, I mean, those are really world class musicians, kudos to the arrangers and the mothers who gave birth to them. So, yeah, basically, I just didn't see it coming. But it was refreshing to hear these songs, we hear on the radio on a regular basis in a slightly more jazz-like style.
Did you have a part in making the arrangements?
Bojan: No.
Kris: Yes, in fact, technically speaking we did, because we noticed that they took the original arrangement and incorporated certain harmonies into the new one. Which is actually quite an honour for us. That such accomplished jazz musicians...
Bojan: They weren't above it.
Kris: ...incorporated our amateur harmonies into their grandiose compositions.
METULJI
Metulji' is next.
Bojan: Metulji' is a song that was written, let's say, at the same time as 'Omamljeno telo'. In 2017, that is. Our biggest issue with this song was, that it had a very Yugo-nostalgic rock feel to it, which was not the sound we wanted. We just didn't know how to manifest what we heard in our heads. and that's why we decided at the time not to record the song. And that's why we only recorded 'Omamljeno telo'. But now this song has got, as far as I'm concerned, exactly the sound I always imagined, and I didn't know how to recognise it or explain it. Daniel Bogataj joined us for the arrangement, and another violinist (f) who... Daniel did the arrangement for strings and also recorded most of the string sections. So the song is very special, I'll say, as far as our album is concerned, it has a slightly more classical feel to it and it's also my personal favourite.
The promotion is already behind you, as you can read online, the response has been great.
Kris: Yeah, in fact it's hard to believe, that it's really all over. I, I believe, I speak for all of us here, when I say that I haven't really gotten down to earth yet from the whole thing. It has been quite an incredible experience. Both nights, the energy was high, Cvetličarna was packed. Who would have thought? Certainly not us five years ago.
Jure: We had no idea even back in September. In the middle of September we were, we were like Cvetka, we know it's happening, we can start renovating our place now. So we started to renovate the place, all of it, and then it was the end of September, okay, we were clearly lagging. So we had to find a new rehearsal place, so we were able to rehearse at all.
Bojan: Because of how many metres of timber we do now have in our place waiting for us?
Jure:Yes, far too many cubic metres of timber. We installed drywalls, the whole thing. We were filthy and then we had to sit down and pick up the instruments. And we had to rehearse and work for the whole month. It was really exhausting.
Now then, while you're renovating the place, or your rehearsal space, do you have dirty thoughts as well?
Jure: We had dirty hands.
Bojan: Hands, yeah.
Martin: And everything else.
Bojan: Sweet powder and white dreams. The was a lot of dust, because we had to sand the drywall, it was all over the place. And we ended up painting it white so it became a kind of... a shiny white space, our white dream. So, yes, we will also have a new rehearsal space soon and we'll personally and we'll personally invite you to the opening, so we can talk a bit, record something, you can see all these mighty accolades.
That's what I'm interested in, yes, to take a photo and release it to the public, into the world.
Bojan: Absolutely. I think the world needs to see it. It's imperative.
Do you already have a designer(f) for the awards?
Martin: Actually, we don't have one yet. But I promise we really will do our best with these awards, so maybe another band will join our label eager for the awards. We can also make some additional plans with them.
Jure: But that would mean some serious money, you know.
Others: Money talks.
Martin: Money talks, let's just put it that way.
Kris: When we sign the contract, we can go for a beer together.
Bojan: The only negative thing, I have to add, about applauding yourself in self-publishing, is that you pay for the awards yourself. So, we borrowed a lot of money as a band for these awards, but it's all worth it for the glitz and glamour.
Will the other band coming to your label, be called Joker In then?
Martin: Yeah, we'll see about that.
Jure: A wedding band, you know?
Martin: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Bojan: That's what they are, for weddings. A medley of Dalmatian songs, yeah. A six-hour repertoire, no biggie, and you can hire us from next April onwards, thank you.
Martin: Kidding aside, we've already received these kind of requests. For Dalmatian songs, weddings and stuff.
Bojan: Oh, yeah. I once made a joke on Val 202, when the host asked us about our repertoire, how many songs we performed, and I jokingly mentioned, that we also play a medley of Dalmatian songs, and then we received a couple of requests in the mail for birthdays and weddings.
Martin: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Jure: Oh, my.
When you're conditioning, you need to get as fit, as, let's say, the musicians out there on the rafts in Belgrade who play for eight hours straight without taking a break.
Bojan: But for the moment, I'll just say, that as far as the rafts go, we only ever go there to party. Otherwise, yeah, we've played once or twice with other bands at the same event and when the guys told us, how long their setlists were, we realised, that with one gig, they actually perform as much as we do in month, so...
Martin: But the guys also benefit financially, don't they.
A SEM TI POVEDAL
The next one will be 'A sem ti povedal'.
Kris: A sem ti povedal' is another exciting track from our album.
Bojan: They're all exciting...
Kris: Come on, they're all exciting songs, especially the exciting ones. It's special because it perhaps has the hardest sound...
Martin: It's dark, dark.
Kris: The hardest, darkest amongst all the songs on the album and for an extra touch of eroticism Erazem Grafenauer has recorded a classical guitar intro.
I've read somewhere that this is the most anticipated album of the year.
Bojan: Yeah, for us it is.
Jan: Yeah.
Bojan: We've been busy making it.
And last but not least, for the fans.
Bojan: There's absolutely a lot of people who couldn't wait for this album to be released.
Jan: Amongst others, the five of us.
Bojan: Amongst others, the five of us, most of all, definitely our parents. But, unfortunately, there were, unfortunately, the circumstances didn't allow us to get the album out sooner than we did. And we're glad we've released it now and that we have been able to introduce it to the world with these two concerts. So we have no idea if it's the most anticipated one. For us it was absolutely the most anticipated. But we hope that if this one wasn't, the next one will be.
You've placed yourself on the cover in colours.
Jan: Yes, in the colours of the ocean and the Power Rangers. Yes, we went to shoot that cover or the cover photo to a mansion.
Bojan: To Rogaška Slatina..
Jan: In Rogaška Slatina, yes. Jan Pirnat took the photo. So, yeah, basically this light beam represents our path as it bounces off various walls and eventually finds its way to the top.
Bojan: Plus, there is another explanation, that this beam basically represents the dirty thoughts that confront us, penetrate through us, and are then projected out into the world.
To the audience.
Bojan: That's right.
Otherwise, you also invest a lot in video production. In fact, you seem to support every single with a video.
Kris: Yeah, it seems to me the only right thing to do is to support every single with a video. Even if you don't, if we didn't want to, it's the modern standard. And many people might disagree, that we invest a lot in video production.
Martin: But we do.
Kris: We are making a huge effort. And the main thing is when we do videos, we also like to be involved in the actual writing of the script. and deciding what it's going to be about.
Jan: Every time we draw straws to see who's next, who's going to sacrifice a kidney for the production.
Bojan: Exactly. That's exactly it. We are missing a few kidneys in the band because of these videos.
Can your music be accessed via Facebook or in another way, through your website?
Martin: Our music is actually accessible, we've tried to make it accessible, it's virtually everywhere on the internet and through Facebook, Instagram, now even on TikTok. Maybe the label will consider, if it's worth releasing a TikTok single, because that's supposedly popular right now. Anyway, it's something to think about, but it's exciting. And we have a website, we're putting a lot of effort into it ourselves, to make it as organised as possible and appealing to everyone. Since the other day, you can also buy our CDs, T-shirts and sweatshirts and everything else to support the band, so we don't have to sacrifice as many kidneys in the future.
Kris: If not, there are also Russian torrent sites. Everything is available there as well.
Bojan: Besides, we sing in the Cyrillic alphabet, right?
But with advice like that, there will actually be one golden or platinum record less.
Kris: Yeah, what can I say, we have ourselves to blame.
Martin: Well, we also have one more record for torrent listeners, So basically, we are on trend, it seems to me, in this respect.
Kris: The ones from the Russian websites, are in this red and gold, very communist style, this...
BELE SANJE
Next up is 'Bele sanje'.
Kris: Yeah, that song, when we perform live, Bojan always mentions that it's about nightlife horrors. So, listen up.
To conclude, will you be applying for EMA?
Bojan: Hey, is that a girl, or what?
Bojan knows the girl quite well.
Bojan: Honestly, there hasn't been serious consideration of applying for EMA. Maybe if we ever get carried away. But it seems to us that now that Måneskin has won it would be a bit, how do you say, tacky, imitative, for us to give it a try now. Like, now it's an obvious recipe for victory. So we are waiting when the next extreme will emerge, that's totally the opposite of our band, and win Eurovision, and next year we'll apply.
Jure: Well, we would need some support. No, not for going to EMA...
Bojan: 100 million euros.
Jure: You've got a new piece of music and... You put on a show... and that's where it ends.
Bojan: That's it. Let's say 100 million euros of support would be lovely. If we can manage.
Martin: We'll ask the label to pay for it.
Jure: Or if you buy the merch, well, maybe. Or if someone... [inaudible]
Anyway, as I understand you are already creating new material?
Jure: We are creating new material. If not with guitars, then at least in our minds. So... It's forever bubbling in the depths of our ever-dirty minds.
Anyway, I guess, now you're aiming for as many stages as possible, and the listeners are welcome to check the schedule on all the social media sites...
Martin: And on the website
... because it can vary from day to day, right?
Kris: Yeah, at the moment, we have a lot of interest for our gigs up to the end of the year and we hope we'll be able to have I'm knocking on wood, 10 to 15 concerts more and it will basically serve as...
Bojan: A mini-tour.
Kris: A mini-tour for the 'Umazane misli' album launch. We begin... a couple of days ago we performed at Rakičan castle, it was awesome.
Otherwise, again, as Martin says, we should mention the website, because you're one of the few bands that still maintains it.
Martin: Right, but it's interesting that we set up this website as some kind of vital inconvenience, and it turns out that people really like to visit the website where you can always find information, where in your vicinity we are going to perform in the near future, and all other relevant news.
OMAMLJENO TELO
We will end with the song 'Omamljeno'.
Jan: Its full title is 'Omamljeno telo'. It's basically our earliest track on this album, which you can tell from Bojan's slightly more boyish voice.
Bojan: And Tomi Meglič impersonation.
Jan: Yeah, right.
Jan: ♪ For you ♪
Bojan: ♪ to conjure up... ♪
Jan: But yeah, I think this song is excting because, it is the same now, when it is released, as when it was created, on one of the first ever rehearsals.
Bojan: It's the only song actually, we brought into the studio and that's exactly how we recorded it.
Jan: We knew exactly what it should be and that's how it remained.
This is our final song. Jan, Bojan, Kris, Jure and Martin, thank you, for being guests on the RADIOaktivno show at Radio Prlek. Have a successful and most productive future.
Jan: Thank you very much for inviting us.
Others: Thank you.
Bojan: Thank you very much for the invitation, we wish you the same.
Kris: We will come again sometime.
Martin: We hope to be back with you soon.
I hope so.
Martin: We do too, thank you.

EEnE / EddEddy EDit (My Love Mine All Mine - Mitski)
January 27th: (I reuploaded the video because I wanted to make some adjustments and add some scenes. Now it's in 1080p too)
This edit was kinda hard to make because EddEddy already makes me emotional, so combining it with this song... damn. I knew I was going to cry doing this and I did. This time I didn't use yellow or orange on the subtitles because the entire song is basically the two of them talking about each other, so I didn't need to indicate their lines. It's also my first time using CapCut so it's probably not that good and I couldn't sync it perfectly to the music because I really wanted to use a LOT of scenes and finding a way to make them fit into the time of almost 1 minute was the hardest part, especially because I'm used to making long videos, so using just a second or less of a scene is extremely difficult for me.
I would've made a longer video for sure, it was the most ideal in this case and I couldn't even use all the scenes I wanted, but TikTok silences videos that are longer than 1 minute because of copyright, so I tried to make it as long as possible.
EddEddy makes me SO goddamn emotional, first because I love them with all my heart in a way I can't even put into words and their relationship is so freaking beautiful and I think it's devastating that they're not real (I hate those moments when we realize that our favorite characters are just... characters), and second because I'm a little jealous of them because I really wish I had what these two have. Their relationship, friendship and chemistry is perfect and I wanted to have something exactly like that. I wish I had my Eddy since I'm just like Double D.
Oh well, back to the main topic: I think it was a bit masochist of me to choose to make an EddEddy edit with "My Love Mine All Mine" because this song is so SO melancholic and majestic and angelical and beautiful etc etc, BUT it just had to be done, it was a need of my heart. I was very aware of the consequences, but I couldn't simply ignore the urge to proceed. It was just necessary. I already tear up with this "Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy" edit made by @eenedump, now imagine my state with this one. Oh boy, I love Mitski, but she makes me so sad, but in a beautiful way (?).
I guess in the end, this edit wasn't only about Double D and Eddy's love for each other, but also about my own love for EEnE and EddEddy. The love I have for this show and this ship is mine all mine. It's something so pure and precious that I wish I could send it to the moon so it could last for eternity, and I get so emotional over the fact that one day I'm going to die and all this love I carry will die with me, and that's not fair. It's so sad.

Super, super late reply, but I was tagged by @variabels to list 5 anime/manga recs. Thanks for the tag! (I also love Durarara and Baccano ヾ(•ω•`)o)
I’m gonna list mainly Chinese media in this list, though, because that’s what I consume more. And ha! How brave, asking an ND person like me for recs. Prepare to be bombarded by my rambling!
Starting off with the media currently featured in my header (excluding Blue Lock coz most of my mutuals already know that)...
1. The Earth is Online (danmei* novel)
Tumblr media
* Danmei - Chinese boys love stories
The plot basically: Everyone on Earth is pulled into a death game.
A good intro to the unlimited flow* genre. Each instance is thrilling and complex. The boys love aspect is not much, as it focuses on plot, but it’s definitely not subtle. The characters are also quite diverse. Most UF novels just focus on the Chinese characters and revolve around what happens in China, but this one actually features those from other countries. I also like how the protagonist isn’t treated as the entire world’s savior. Other people around the world are also doing their part.
Where to read: An official English release is coming out in 2024. Translations will be done by luckkoi, the fan translator. As such, they've taken down their translations online. There's an alternate translation by @leonsrightlations , but only a few chapters are out right now. There are several completed translations online, but they're all edited mtl (machine translation). If you don't mind that, you can go google it. I recommend the one by Rainbow Mushroom. Their translations require a password, though, and you can find that on their Discord server.
* unlimited flow - Chinese genre of web novels where the protagonist is pulled into different instances to complete challenges which, if failed, would result in punishment or even death. It’s basically the death game genre, but instead of just one game, there are multiple.
2. Legend of Hei movie + Legend of Luo Xiaohei series sequel (donghua*)
(I downloaded this video from YouTube years ago. I can no longer find it there, so I’m reuploading it here…)
* Donghua – Chinese anime
A story about the young cat demon Xiao Hei and his quest to find a new home after humans destroyed his old one. Cute cat + cool powers + awesome fighting scenes + clean and crisp animation.
You can watch this on Netflix, but it’s not available in all countries. There’s an English and Japanese dub available, but I strongly recommend watching it in the original Chinese. (I can send you the full movie with English subtitles if you want). The series, which takes place after the movie, can be watched on YouTube. S1 of the series is more slice of life, but s2 is action-packed.
3. Low Tide in Twilight (BL manhwa)
Tumblr media
That BL trope where the bottom has a mountainload of debt, while the top gives him a way out… except, not really, coz the male lead Taeju is partly the creditor, and he’s forcing Euihyun into a relationship with him in exchange for money.
Typical BL story with an initially toxic couple, but better. Complex characters, and a manhwa that relies more on the art to tell the story instead of the words. Also, Taeju gives off that same annoying but hot vibe as Kaiser. What more do you want?
4. Link Click (donghua)
youtube
The title (时光代理人) would be literally translated as “Time Agents.” I have no idea why the official English title is Link Click.
The plot basically: Two guys with time-related powers run a photography shop, where they accept orders from clients to dive back in time through a photo.
Funimation did this donghua so dirty by not promoting it more back when it aired in 2021. The English subs were also terrible.
Did you know that it used to rank #20 in MAL, surpassing MP 100 S2, Jujutsu Kaisen, and many other mainstream anime? Now, it’s ranked #41 on MAL, lower than before, but still pretty high for a donghua on MAL. That’s just how good it is.
Here’s a link to the blu-ray version with fansubs. Just pick the normal English track option and not English (CR).
Edit: OKAAAY, it turns out that link has the episode order all mesed up. Just ask me if you need an HD copy with good fansubs.
5. White Cat Legend 2020 (donghua)
youtube
Title (大理寺日志) would be literally translated as The Journal of Dali Court.
Another cat boy donghua! Can you tell I just love cats?
The plot: Chen Shi travels from the countryside to the big city to search for his missing brother and inadvertently ends up working at Dali court under the cat guy Li Bing.
Slice of Life + Comedy + Drama + Supernatural + Mystery + Action
Baiting you with a hot guy gif~
It's a historical show btw, so expect some references to real-life events.
The animation is also really smooth in this one! You can watch it on YouTube. Here's a link to episode 1.
Tumblr media
Season 2 is also out! I'm yet to watch it, though. I should really do some time...
----
Tagging some mutuals to check these out, and also to list 5 recs (no pressure)~
@potato-longsocks @echarie @takeunknownroadnow @gachagon @bachirasbodyguard @blonde-batgirl @oo-mi-ru-oo @www98vikitoo @whiteapplesandblackblood
I recommend creating your own post instead of adding your recs in a reblog. My post is already pretty long. Turn this into a long thread, and we'll be a menace on the dashboard haha

June 2 & 3, 2020 (filmed) - Soop Episode 8 -
That night it was Tae’s and Joon’s turn to cook. Shortly after they began, Jk made his way to the upper house in case they needed help. It was a common scene to see Jk in the kitchen during their stay, whether he was called upon or joined voluntarily - this occasion being the latter.
Tumblr media
The first thing he asks is about how well they were handling themselves in the kitchen.
Tumblr media
He continues by making a snarky / teasing comment as he lightly chuckles, jokingly. He’s alluding to the fact that both Tae and Joon are inexperienced cooks. He first looks at Joon and his pasta.
Tumblr media
He then moves to observe Tae and changes to a supportive tone, letting him know he’ll happily eat it no matter what the results are. He’s being realistic but telling him to not be afraid to make mistakes.
Tumblr media
Jk reassures him by saying one can’t mess up meat - it’ll always taste good.
Tumblr media
Tae let’s his insecurities afloat by saying he would never cook again if he messed up such a delicious steak that was so difficult to botch. Jk was well aware of Tae’s lack of confidence when it comes to cooking & that was his way of encouraging him.
Tumblr media
Since there is nothing to help them with, Jk silently watches his phone and stays close, waiting to see if he was needed. This precise scenario is actually unfamiliar - at least to Soop viewers.
Tumblr media
Jk let’s out a couple more compliments about Tae’s meat before leaving to take a nap. He must not be too interested in the aglio e olio spaghetti since it’s a blander dish by nature.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Later on Jk literally held onto his bed as Hobi woke him up, but once on his feet he checked his phone and then began to run towards the kitchen as he tried to keep on reading his messages. He was apparently eager to eat steak because it appeals to his taste buds, which makes sense. “I really want to eat steak,” he sings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He stops running to finish reading his messages before entering the kitchen.
Tumblr media
Heavy speculation: Turns out Tae needed assistance and couldn’t leave the meat alone. Joon had left him around 5-10 minutes ago, depending on how long Hobi had to insist to Jk to wake up. Could or could not be related to Jk running while checking his phone as there is no way to know. Decide as you wish.
Tumblr media
Hobi goes for paper towels while Jk asks what he could do to help - something he has done with other members as well. Tae says he only needed paper towels and plates.
Tumblr media
Tae then expresses concerns about his cooking, seemingly having some trouble.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jk stays as his cooking assistant from that moment onwards - a role he excels at. He first finds paper towels inside the kitchen and stays right by his side -
Tumblr media
Then Tae asks him for some help with the seasoning. They cook in harmony -

Later that night, Hobi and Jk spot Tae just as he started lighting fireworks so they make their way to him.
Tumblr media
Jk quickly joins Tae, who hands him a firecracker, while Hobi asks about other members.
Tumblr media
Taekook are too entertained to worry about the others whereabouts.
Tumblr media
They pass the lighter between the two, heavily involved in the bonding activity. “When else will we ever get this opportunity?” they later said.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1n2_p1Qd4wUt3qtwWjoatGchl9GWk_fD3/view?usp=drivesdk
Jimin joins them too and all four enjoy the spectacle.
Tumblr media
Taekook are the only ones setting the fireworks off. They must be the most excited and daring, taking into account Hobi was pretty scared of getting near.
Tumblr media
Tae lights three at once - quite courageously - and runs off. Hobi about Tae: “He’s so eager”.
Tumblr media
Hobi and Jk dance in front of the sparks which Tae vocaly marvels about. They are surely having fun together.
Tumblr media
Tae prompts Jk to do the same as him and light three at once - scary to do as it’s time sensitive, but with beautiful results. He tried to listen but ran off at 2. This is faintly reminiscent of “we always got scolded together, even back then”.

June 3 (filmed) - Tae wakens Jk to watch the sunrise, which they later mention. He is seen leaving the floating house a little after the first rays of light start illuminating the sky. *There is debate about whether Tae spent the night in Jk’s room or not, but we think the footage is inconclusive. It doesn’t contradict the official story but it’s also compatible with Tae staying over so decide as you wish. Some think Tae must have stayed over because he wasn’t shown entering the room, but remember this was a 1 or 2 hour long sped-up timelapse with many missing frames (many cuts). It was only luck that a single frame of Tae exiting made it into the final footage. The frame can't be seen in the weverse app due to differences in resolution, compression and frame rate compared to weverse’s desktop version (which is where the illegal uploads came from) as a professional explained to us. We checked the official desktop version and Tae’s frame is still there meaning BH didn’t try to hide it. In layman’s terms - there is no conspiracy from BH to backtrack and omit Tae leaving the boathouse. In order to modify Tae out BH would have to reupload the one file, meaning those viewing via Weverse on a desktop computer would also not see Tae. Only one file is processed and encoded to work across as many devices as possible. This means different versions of the same video in different formats with different compressions - but all derived from the one upload (according to the below cited individual who works in tech). Disclaimer: this individual works in tech and had discussions with her partner, who is also in tech. Please fact check.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Additionally, not turning on the light is respectful since Jk wasn’t obligated to get up. As previously said, anything is possible in this case (as far as if Tae stayed over / when he arrived at the boathouse).

The next we see is Tae walking with his selfie camera to Jk to watch the sunrise together. It seems like he was coming back from the main house.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Adorable, sleepy Hobi joins them. Tae says “you did it!” which implies it had been taken into consideration. The gathering might have been talked about the previous night or it could have been spontaneous where Tae woke him up without a warning and hoped he’d make it out of bed. Both Tae and Jungkook happily greet him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
https://twitter.com/flirtaeguk/status/1315991107562401792?s=21
Jk is also sleepy and keeps yawning alongside Hobi, unlike Tae who is very much awake. They both made an effort to accompany him. Jk yawning -
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hobi yawning -
Tumblr media
He asks Jk if he pulled an all-nighter.
Tumblr media
Jk denies and explains Tae woke him up. *Personal opinion: Sara is inclined to think Tae was the one to pull an all-nighter while he hung out in Jimin’s room judging by his state of alertness (I’m used to doing it and they are too) and how there’s footage of vmin in Jimin’s bed from earlier that night. It’s not easy for Tae to wake up early. Anyhow, it’s not impossible he later hung out in Jk’s room. Regardless of what happened Tae chose & dared to get these two out of bed at such ungodly hours just because he thought the scenery was nice - lacking apprehension - which means he feels very comfortable with them.
Tumblr media
Tae disappears and Jk immediately wonders where he went.
Tumblr media
*Just for fun - the editors added an adorable caption for Tae canoeing:
Tumblr media
Jk giggles when Tae reappears and asks him if he’s having fun - happy to see Tae enjoy himself.
Tumblr media
He then compliments his rowing skills.
Tumblr media
This causes Hobi to also comment. Jk agrees with an “exactly”.
Tumblr media
Jk adds onto it pointing out more details about Tae’s good technique.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
More of Jk yawning -
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jk films Tae with his selfie camera. At the start, he says “V” in a deep, playful voice - presenting him to the public (note the subtitle in the below pic - the English subtitle didn’t show “V” when Jk says it but it’s written in the Korean subtitle next to Tae).
Tumblr media
When Tae softly asks them what they think of the scenery - looking directly at Jk - the younger sweetly replies with the following -
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the original Korean text notes “GCF” (making reference to Jk’s filming skills):
Tumblr media

; Full sunrise clip:

Later on - it seems the members went back to bed after watching the sunrise. Tae wakes up at 12pm and is surprised he slept so little.
Tumblr media
He then walks from the main house to the floating house, where Jk is staying.
Tumblr media
He doesn’t bother changing out of his PJs as he makes his way to the floating house.
Tumblr media
It’s uncertain whether he checks his breath or simply rubs his face as he walks there.
Tumblr media
We find out he is, indeed, coming to visit Jungkook.
Tumblr media
Speculation - There is debate if Tae locked the door when he entered. Decide as you like.
Personal stances: Sara is basically sure that Tae didn’t lock comparing it to the distinctively different & loud sound it made when Jk locked the door while playing with Jimin (Ep 7 behind the scenes, Jk locking the door: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1729xJUd1fvff5MozK0J7meAj4tZEOZ0w/view?usp=drivesdk ; Hobi closing the door without locking which generates the same “clicking” sound as in Tae’s occasion: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ITikRqRtKYJjVEjCxrF3t42UBu1IcuB6/view?usp=drivesdk) combined with the unlikely context, while Kayla thinks it’s possible (since we don’t see what they are up to for those two hours - maybe Tae unlocks it at some point (not saying they were up to anything but maybe just wanted privacy) + three non BTS listeners seemed certain they heard the door lock when shown the zoomed in clip without context - who Tae is, what room he’s in, etc … but who knows). As we stated above, it’s debatable so please decide as you wish.
Tae closing Jk’s door -
Tumblr media
https://twitter.com/taetae_pteryong/status/1313898743939305472?s=21
It turns out Tae preferred to keep on resting with Jk rather than alone in his own bed, even if he had to go on a little walk. He throws his cap off and leans over Jk, his face close.
Note Jk’s raised arm as he slowly turns to have an idea of their positions.
Tumblr media
Here Jk’s tattooed arm is blurred next to Tae’s head - Jk still facing upwards.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tae says “move over” while Jk sleepily groans in protest.
Tumblr media
Jk groggily rolls to his side, an act that conveniently gives Tae the space he was searching for & that prompts him to climb over to be the “big spoon” in the cuddle. His foot skims over Jk’s as he latches a leg and arm around him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
some close ups of Tae positioning himself (mostly for their feet since it’s quite intimate) -
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
https://twitter.com/recorder331/status/1313910423075266566?s=21
In a sweet moment that indicates closeness, Tae tries to pull the blanket up on him so he can be closer and warmer as he cuddles.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jungkook appears to pull Tae’s arm closer - although it’s unclear. We have differing opinions. Decide as you wish.

Tae then playfully boops his leg against JK. He may have wanted him to wake up after all but stay in bed, calmly laying together for a while - although they both ended up feeling too cozy.

Hobi heads their way apparently two whole hours later with the intention of waking Jk up. The below images confirm the approximate timeframe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hobi says he’ll go wake Jungkook up, seemingly unaware that Tae had joined him in bed.
Tumblr media
Once he gets there he first calls for Jk, pauses and also calls for Tae in a higher, slightly surprised tone. Goes to show it was unexpected for him.
Tumblr media
Hobi is insistent, they have to eat and leave the cottage soon.
Tumblr media
Jk stretches and gets up relatively quickly - although looks sleepy. Taking into account the cut, it must have been a couple of minutes since Hobi entered.
Tumblr media
Hobi looks on and doesn’t leave until they get up. He had to make sure. This may be strongly subjective but he seems to have a somewhat wary demeanor, looking at them as if he was studying the situation.
Tumblr media
Tae suddenly sprints out of bed.
Tumblr media
Note Hobi’s face -
Tumblr media
He pauses at the door for a bit before reminding them to hurry up. He might think they are capable of going back to sleep and miss lunch. Maybe that’s the only reason he looks faintly concerned, but that’s up for interpretation.
Tumblr media
Publicly debated topic - There was a clear cut between Hobi entering the room and when he talks to Taekook, finally getting them out of bed. ARMY pointed out that the door was left more closed after Hobi entered, but when we see him again - after the cut - it’s wide open meaning someone crossed it in the meantime, which makes people wonder. Jk’s feet also change position which means there was substantial movement. This has led some to believe that Taekook were cuddling quite intimately and the cut was made to hide it.
Skeptical stance: Please keep in mind all content is edited, with cuts, and we don’t necessarily believe this is a big deal. It’s just being noted since it was a widely discussed topic.
Observations(both anticlimactic & open): Contrary to popular belief, Hobi did knock on Jk’s door in ep 7 when he was alone. The cut could’ve just been made to shorten the moment since TK didn’t want to get up. Maybe Hobi went back towards the door after getting a response from them, opened it, hesitated & decided to make sure they got up. Judging by their feet, Tae was already on his back before the cut - same as Jk who was even starting to turn towards the wall. Seeing that their positions weren’t compromising prior to the cut and that Tk were shown cuddling just moments before without a problem, I don’t think BH tried to hide anything with this specific cut. You can decide as you wish. Nevertheless, I think them cuddling before Hobi entered was very possible which is explained below.
Door looks more closed -
Tumblr media
As you see, prior to Hobi’s entrance it is indeed possible that Jk was hugging Tae if you observe his legs and how he starts to turn the other way around. His left knee is lifted and folded which would be the one folding over Tae (in the speculative case) while the other leg was straightened. Why the need to move right when Hobi enters? Also, in this action one of his legs is left without a blanket to cover him which could indicate he was closer to Tae just seconds before.
Tumblr media
However - still prior to the cut - Jk had already turned towards the wall with both his knees facing that way, therefore, there was nothing to hide anymore - if there ever was.
Tumblr media
Tae was also on his back if you look at his right foot’s toe facing the door (the foot with exclamation points is Jk’s facing the wall).
Tumblr media
In the next scene, the door is wide open and Jk’s position has changed further - rolling more on his side, straightening his legs and fully covering them with the blanket (except his foot).

Taekook sit next to each other as they eat - possibly the last two to join. They grow impatient when they finish eating and get up. First it’s Jk and then Tae follows suit, surrounding the table to go where he is.
Tumblr media
It seems like they cross a few words - although not heard - and for some reason Jk hands his phone over to Tae. We’ve noticed the editors can alter the volume of their mics as Jimin is heard muffled at some point during this scene.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Members urge the duo to sit down so they can say thank you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Taekook then can be seen walking together towards the main house, but choose to engage in different activities.

While Jk quietly carved wood -
Tumblr media
Tae searched for playmates for a water balloon fight - clearly still playful unlike what they tried to portray in ep 6. Tae is certainly calmer compared to his younger self, but he still likes to joke around. The pandemic affected his mood and this was a time for healing, but his core personality didn’t drastically change and it was a recent situation. In late 2019 (around early November) Tae said these words: “They say I’m restless, but that’s who I am. I think that’s why they gave me that nickname. I don’t think my personality will change no matter how much time passes or how old I get. I’d like to be considered a playful person to everyone”. As we said, we reiterate they must have used Tae’s recent mood as the perfect excuse to naturally justify the separation strategy they had been using to pretend they drifted apart these last years.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Back in Seoul, BTS visit the studio to record the theme song for Soop. Even though there is an empty chair, when Tae comes back from recording his part, he proceeds to sit on Jk’s lap, who doesn’t protest. This is what Tae saw as he was entering the room -
Tumblr media
He walked past Jk playfully smothering Hobi to leave the paper -
Tumblr media
And turned around to look directly at them.
Tumblr media
He hesitated for a second - standing still in front of them without looking around - and went for it, claiming his seat on top of Jk.
Tumblr media
Jk was smiling, maybe about Tae or maybe about the silly singing he was participating in along other members. Regardless, he was in a good mood & unbothered.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tae let himself fall flat against Jk, completely relaxed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jk started to feel a bit asphyxiated after a while so he gently incorporated himself, making Tae sit straight but with no intention of pushing him off.
Tumblr media
Tae stays there for a considerable amount of time, both comfortable and smiling whenever something funny happened.
Tumblr media
Note that the members seemed to play a sort of musical chairs. When a member returned from singing, he would take the seat of the person who got up to go record. Therefore, the argument that Tae avoided the seat for Joon isn’t very credible. No one else sits on a lap and no one else had an issue finding a seat when he wanted. (Tae sitting on Jk’s lap: https://drive.google.com/file/d/14UhAYnWI4YWrMNoK3wa69m_tod-X7c9m/view?usp=drivesdk)
When all go in but Yoongi, Joon suggests the members sing in a breathy tone, to which Tae says it’s his speciality.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
However, Vmin then show solidarity in hyping Jk’s voice. Right after they agree to an airy tone for the chorus, both Jk and Jimin start softly singing to themselves, but Tae doesn’t hesitate when he suddenly turns to Jk and grabs him by the arm to pull him to the center. As Tae is doing this action, Jimin asks the rhetorical question “isn’t he the best at it?”
Tumblr media
Tae has a precious grin adorning his features -
Tumblr media
Tae affirms Jk is the best at capturing the breathy tone BTS is striving for as he leads him to the center of the group. The younger shows modesty by questioning their decision as he says “why? why?”.
Tumblr media
Notice Tae’s arm still pulling him -
Tumblr media
Tae then gestures to the mic, insisting.
Tumblr media
He briefly gives Jk’s arm an encouraging pat / light grab as he says again Jk should sing in the center.
Tumblr media
Jimin agrees and says Jk is the chorus.
Tumblr media
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RqnHIjmLPjzxsBKaXbJEkbbiYZT7XQmK/view?usp=drivesdk
Towards the end of the recording session, Tae goes in to record a solo soulful piece (Jk follows after). When Tae begins, Yoongi and Jimin immediately turn to Jk and start laughing loudly, with Yoongi clapping as he laughs (other members also laugh). Jk grins.
Speculative stance: Yoonmin may have turned to Jk because it was expected he’d go in after Tae and “duel” as Yoongi later says. Perhaps they turn to him to gauge his reaction at following in recording his soulful take after Tae.
Jk introduces Tae with a “Here goes V” - raising expectations.
Tumblr media
Yoonmin look at Jk as they laugh -
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Members really want Jk to record the ad-libs he was doing while sited. They call it a “war” and an “ad-lib battle” (keep in mind neither Tae nor Jk uttered those words).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once Jk is done and gave them all good laughs, Joon asks him to go back in to do a final ad-lib. Mirroring his prior actions, Tae excitedly hunches forward to get him off his chair and into the studio, very much looking forward to more of Jk’s hilariously soulful singing.

(the first subtitles anon) So sending you a translated version to put on your videos yourself wouldn't work?
that’s really a very sweet offer, but I’m afraid I don’t have time to read that number of emails and check that amount of captions. Community captions can be uploaded by anyone, and when you check them it automatically offers a Google Translate next to it so you can check it’s basically accurate and hit publish or not. It’s quick and easy. I barely have time to do that: there are dozens and dozens of submitted community caption files that I haven’t gotten to because I just don’t have time in the week. If each one has to come in by email then I have to read every email and check each translation myself, download them, reupload them to the right video... and there just isn’t time.
To be honest, having time to read emails is a big challenge: I get dozens and dozens a day and it’s kindof an unavoidable bottleneck. Like about a week ago I tweeted about community captions going away; within minutes I had dozens of emails into my business inbox from very kind people offering translations, and straightaway that’s like 30 minutes of the day gone just on reading them. I recently had to relocate my business email somewhere else cause the inbox was just becoming impossible to navigate. At the same time I have my own life admin and a whole other career as an actor to run - I can’t really work any harder than I already am. No doubt the people who do back-of-the-napkin imaginary maths to suggest I’m a secret millionaire would say I could hire someone to read my emails for me, but that also wouldn’t work because a) Those people are way off, b) I would have to spend time looking for and training that person and checking their work, which would also take time I don’t have, and c) I wouldn’t get to read the fan mail, which I do still read all of even if I don’t have time to respond

English Subtitles - Musical Touken Ranbu: Kishou Hongi
Edit 01/01/2020 - noticed errors on a rewatch so have reuploaded. that’s what i get for translating at 4 am every night ^_^
Edit 19/01/2020 - got back from my utaawase trip and noticed some typos with punctuation just fixed those up real quick zzzz
edit 13/03/2020 - formatting
edit 16/05/20 - DVD and Bluray subtitles now uploaded! archive and delay have also been updated with a tweaked translation
28/07/2020 - updated idol songs now that official lyrics are out
Hello everyone! I dug my age-old tumblr out from its dusty grave to share a project I’ve been working on ;__; I really wanted my friends to be able to watch this show since I love kishou hongi so much so I decided to make subtitles, and I thought it was wasteful not to share them with everyone else!! It’s my first time making subtitles so let me know if there are any major problems ^_^
You may download them here
They’re split into honpen and live, since I know the bluray will let you do them separately when it’s finally out.
The ones I have are individually done for archive and delay, and I will be updating once the bluray is out. If you find they’re slightly off time, I recommend Aegisub to mass-shift the timestamps so they will fit better.
Translators notes/things I found interesting under the cut! (some spoilers if you’ve been waiting to watch it)
I’d never had much experience in kansai-ben before so really it was my undying love for Akashi that got me through this T_T
I did leave tenka as “all under heaven” when I felt like it was thematically appropriate....given heaven is tossed around in other places that aspect of it seemed important and also gave it more weight than simply ‘ruling’ or taking power
It’s my belief that Tsuru’s first solo is in reference to the death of his first master, who died in the snow at a young age and where Tsuru was taken since he was so beautiful. Left a TN in there since I think both the literal and idiomatic meaning are relevant
Sadachika was a real pain in my ass (and Otegine’s LMAO)
Apparently the twin thing is like an old supersition....that only animals would give birth to multiple babies at once so if a human does it it’s unnatural.
The “don” thing...i was going to leave it as an SFX except they repeat the same joke with “chan” later so i took it as the honourific meaning
Tsuru’s opening and closing line with his plan are, I think, a crane pun - he says literally “ore no hitokoe”, which would be more literally “my voice”.....except there’s apparently an idiom for “tsuru no hitokoe”, crane’s voice, which basically means an authoritative statement, or something that makes everyone else shut up and listen, like a crane’s cry........tsuru you little rascal. I tried to convey that sense of authority without making it too literal.....but take from it what you will AHAH
Tsuru’s lines vs the kebiishi are a reference to kagome kagome
Now...Mikazuki’s cameo was a tough one. The line I translated as “the servants of spirits” is “mono ni tsukaeshi mono”, simple enough (and could be interpreted as the servant of objects, I guess). But then he says “mono no be”, which incidentally is the name of a clan which fought the Soga clan in a war defending shintoism against buddhist influences or something (I’m honestly not sure if that’s relevant, but good to know). A book I skimmed on that war translated it literally as servant group of spirits (mono like bakemono, but of course that can also be thing/object, and be for service group). So he told Nobuyasu to take on the name of mononobe / spirit servants? Or the double meaning of mono as a thing/object, and toudans being both spirits and objects? I’m not sure what I’m meant to take from this scene to be honest but....that’s all the relevant information I can think of ahaha
for the live portion....when they’re all talking over each other I really tried my best but I can only hear mokkun LMAO the same with otegine’s rap in S, I can’t really hear him well over akashi ahaha so I hope I got it right

hi ren! do you know if that call for new staff that sirukosan did a few days ago has to do with creating a subtitles team for bintroll? after youtube disabled community subs I've barely watched their videos and I rlly hope they create a subs team 🥺
Hello aayakashii-san! I'm going to be honest here and apologize because I think I'm confused with your question. So if I'm answering it wrong, please feel free to ask me again. But I'll do my best! 🥺
If you are referring to this tweet, then I'll do my best to explain it~
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What Siruko-san made here is a template you can copy if you want to play Among Us with your fellow bintoromin (people who love Bintroll). Basically, you post a tweet following this template so you can play Among Us with other random people.
Siruko-san made the official tag #びんとろがす募集 (bintorogasu boshuu) which means Bintroll Among Us Recruitment.
I tried translating the template below.
◆Time/Date
12/12 22:00~
◆Participation Conditions
First-reply-first-served basis
No reply needed, enter the code (ABCDE) to participate
etc
◆VC (voice channel)
Discord
In-Game Chat Only
etc
◆Remarks
Hardcore players only、First-time players are welcome、EnglishOnly、Men only、Women only、etc。
So basically, if I wanted to play Among Us with Bintroll fans, all I need to do is tweet like this.
Tumblr media
I hope I explained it correctly! As much as I would love to translate Bintroll videos again (I did only a couple because I'm still pretty bad with Japanese 🥺), sadly Youtube won't let us. In the mean time, while we pray for Youtube to see the light and come to reason, you can check out the Bintroll English Subs playlist I made a long time ago. Bintroll fans really worked hard to translate as much videos as they can before the YT deadline, so I really appreciate their efforts! Thank you translator minna-sama! 💕
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDEin-4RJyDpa--DhlEoIGFH2uxxm4Z2s
I would love to join a translations team! I'm still busy at the moment, so I couldn't find the time to find other ways to translate Bintroll videos without reuploading them. I was thinking of translating a few of my favorite clips and post it on Twitter, but I'm still trying to grasp how to edit videos (and I was really busy, gomen). To be honest, sometimes I barely understand Japanese too, but I always watch because I really REALLY like Bintroll even if I don't understand 😂
Hope this satisfies your question! Thank you for your ask~ Have a nice day! 🌻

Ossan's Love Returns episode 3 eng sub
Tumblr media
I've subbed the third episode of my favourite favourite favourite show! There were quite a lot of Japanese references to explain in this episode so please read the notes before getting confused.
Previous episodes, welcome on board: Episode 1 Episode 2
Episode 3:
RAW
subtitle
Do not reupload to any streaming sites.
Notes:
Hirugao (japanese bindweed) was a popular drama about cheating that aired in 2014. Kin'youbi no tsumatachi e ('to friday wives'), also known as Kintsuma, was a popular drama about cheating that aired in the 80s. I didn't translate or localise these titles since making references to Japanese tv shows seems to be part of Kurosawa's characterisation.
Sontaku: A word that became popular after the Moritomo gakuen political scandal in 2017 and is often used jokingly. I didn't translate it because there is no simple translation as it is a cultural concept rather than just a word and I wanted to maintain the scandal link. Here is a wikipedia page about sontaku. Basically it means to do something the other person wants you to do without them saying they want you to do it.
Convenience store restrooms usually have a poster that says something along the lines of thank you for always keeping the restroom clean.
Dogeza: the ultimate kneeling apology. Not actually used anymore sans some press conferences after a major fuck up.
Before you become a memory, show me your smile one more time: This is actually a Spitz lyric. Here is the song:
youtube
Takekawa-san's twitter account is also a reference to Spitz.

i hate that youtube doesn’t offer any meaningful way of editing or fixing videos. it’s ridiculous. like, it’s a basic feature of publishing shit. y’know how every time a newspaper makes a mistake now, they can just EDIT THE THING ON THE INTERNET and they fix it and add a note like “the text has been edited to reflect the fact that blahblahblah”
and before that age of magic internet they had to issue things called “retraction articles” where they had to waste space in the paper that day to say they were wrong yesterday. and you could make “retraction videos” but you can’t like, trust that people will read the description, or click your card, or check the comments or your channel to find it.
first they took away annotations, the only way to do anything resembling a direct in-video “correction,” so uh okay cool and now the only ways to “edit” or correct videos (as of this writing) are as follows:
delete and reupload the video, which is bad because it damages your analytics (unless this is done so promptly as for the lost views to be negligible)
add a note to the description
add a pinned comment stating the error (which is troublesome if you want to pin a different comment, but the error is more important)
make a post about it in the “Community” tab (but you can only use the community tab if you’ve got enough subscribers and not everyone will see the post)
upload a second video stating and correcting the error
and then add a note to the description
and then add a pinned comment linking to the video
and then use the “Cards” feature to add a little information popup icon in the video linking to the correction video (not sure this is effective, cause who knows if they’ll click the card and go look at the linked video. they probably won’t)
and then make a post in the “Community” tab linking to the correction video
tell people you made a mistake on Twitter/Tumblr/Reddit (which won’t reach people who only use youtube, for some reason, or won’t see it cause the algorithms of those sites will STOP THEM !!!!!)
add an editor’s note in the subtitles saying “[this is wrong, please ignore me, I am stupid]”
Write “xx:xx - xx:xx: THIS PART OF THE VIDEO IS WRONG AND A MISTAKE” in the description, so that in the video chapters list, the part of the video where you made a mistake says “Chapter X: THIS PART OF THE VIDEO IS WRONG AND A MISTAKE”
reply to everyone who yells at you in the comments that you were wrong that you know you were wrong
fruitlessly tag @/TeamYouTube on twitter telling them to please add the ability to just replace a video with a new video file; if vimeo can do it so can they, right
scream
as you can clearly see, all of these strategies are fallible because they require knowledge of features that may not be obvious to people who don’t know everything about youtube, or are on the mobile app, or relies on people using those features/not turning those features off, or... asks people to click a link
y’know, the defining feature of the internet, the ability to connect people and share information, with hyperlinks? for things like this?
but which the internet has made like, a weird and scary thing, because every big website has this screen being all like “OH YOU CLICKED A LINK SPOOPY YOU ARE NOW LEAVING OUR DOMAIN DOT COM YOU MAY BE IN DANGER”
and even when they don’t do that they bury links by limiting where you can post them or making their algorithms be less likely to show posts with links, because they want to keep you on their website
and even when the link is to their own website it’s like, oh here’s a million other things we’re going to advertise to you while making the job of this person who just wants to share some information with you, a lot harder, and stuff, because uhh something something engagement
rant over sorry. anyway I could go on like this about a bazillion other things

Note
I wanted to share the videos on twitter for those who can't download it.. is it okay to reupload??
note: we interpreted re-uploading as downloading someone’s work and then posting it on to your own Twitter or Youtube (that often also implies that the reuploader doesn’t credit the original subber, and basically “steals” the subtitles (in)directly claiming it to be their work). If you simply mean sharing the links to any of the videos or posts on this site or to any of the translators, then that should be fine.
Hi! Feel free to share the links, but different uploaders/translators have different rules when it comes to reuploading. The best option would be sharing the link to the original post rather than re-uploading it yourself.
Making subtitles is time-consuming and hard, so please don’t re-upload videos without crediting and getting permission from the translator/sub team to do so.
The general rule of thumb would be to share the links of the videos or the translator’s page (be it Twitter or another site). You should also check their rules on re-uploading and contact the subber if you don’t see any.
(Do not assume they are ok with someone else reuploading their work, even if they don’t state that they don’t allow reposting. Check with them first. Also note that, in general, most subbers do not allow reuploads.)

Sea Princesses: A Cartoon Dying From Copyright (500th Post Special)
There have been a lot of cartoons over the years. Out of all of them, I favour a select few that are dear to me - Fifi and the Flowertots, Roary the Racing Car, Rupert Bear: Follow the Magic - but considering what’s been going on recently, Sea Princesses is a cartoon that deserves to be protected at all costs. So for my 500th post, I’m going to be talking about this very cartoon.
Firstly, what is Sea Princesses, I hear you ask? Well, Sea Princesses is a Spanish-Brazilian-Australian animated series based on the Princesas do Mar books by Brazilian author, Fábio Yabu. It was broadcast in various countries, including Brazil, Latin America and Australia, but not in the US or Japan, so anything you see about Sea Princesses being broadcast on TV Tokyo is fake news.
Tumblr media
These are some of the characters in Sea Princesses. As you can see, the characters are princes or princesses who represent the kingdom of a particular sea creature. For example, Polvina in the top-left is the Octopus Princess, Ester second from the bottom-left is the Starfish Princess and Tubarina next to her is the Shark Princess. All the characters have families and they come together to make the Kingdom of Salacia.
Why do I like this cartoon? Well, I like the idea of a royal family guarding over a particular sea creature. While they sometimes come up to Dryland (for various reasons), the first rule of their kingdom is to not be seen by human beings, or as the Salacians call them, “Drylanders”. This is because they fear an inevitable conflict with the Drylanders and understandably, they want to delay it for as long as possible.
Now, while there are some encounters between Salacians and Drylanders in the series, there are no (direct) conflicts between the two groups shown in any of the episodes. In fact, I have a headcanon/fanon storyline where this conflict happens and it may or may not involve elements from certain Kamen Rider series, including Ryuki, Hibiki, Kabuto, Kiva, Amazons and Decade...
For some reason, while the animated series came to Australia, the books were never translated into English. Now, the English dubbed episodes were available on one of the TV catchup services, but by the time I found a way to download the episodes, I was only able to download two of them. I also have two more episodes which I managed to salvage in the past before they got deleted, meaning that I have a total of four dubbed episodes.
Finding dubbed episodes on YouTube was very hard, as there were no DVD releases of the series in English. The closest thing I got to an English version was a Hungarian dub that used the English titles, but that wasn’t good enough. About 2 years ago, I managed to find some raws in the form of a Spanish dub that was broadcast on the Disney Channel in Spain, but I didn’t think I’d need them at the time.

However, earlier this year, a 4chan user began subtitling the episodes into English using the Spanish raws. I was relieved since I could at least watch the series again.
Now, since last year, I have contributed to the Sea Princesses Wikia since it was only a basic shell (vague details about characters) and I thought it could do with a lot of improvements. I watched the episodes on my TV catchup service (before I knew how to download them) and expanded some character pages with some relevant information on their involvement in the episodes. In fact, I made a little list of important episodes to watch so that I could expand a few important articles, but the TV station stopped broadcasting right near the end of the second series, so I haven’t got to do a lot since then. Now that I don’t have a lot of episodes available either online or on my computer, I’m starting to think that my work could go unsubstantiated.
Remember the guy who uploaded the subbed episodes? He only got up to the fourth episode of the first series (he updated weekly) before Endemol Shine Australia (one of the production companies) copyrighted the episodes on YouTube. I think he stopped updating his channel around that time as well, since I wasn’t seeing any new episodes after the fourth week.
As a result of the copyright strikes, nearly all videos related to Sea Princesses (even the ones on Fabio Yabu’s channel) were blocked. I managed to download all the Spanish raws before YouTube could get to them, but a few Season 1 episodes were blocked.
I didn’t lose hope, though. After waiting about without any newly subbed episodes or dubbed episode reuploads, I’m now thinking of starting a one-time sub group for the purpose of subbing the series. I’ll go into more detail about it on another post, but I will need to recruit a fansub team (like translators, timers and the like) and negotiate some protocols for the distribution for the subbed episodes. With that being said, if any of you out there would be interested in helping me with such a project, please feel free to contact me.
Sea Princesses is a one-of-a-kind series that cannot be allowed to go unnoticed. I hope that one day, the series can be preserved so that people can watch it again for years to come.

Q: I cannot download or view the Google Drive file. A: Please follow these steps to add the file to your drive.
Regarding teams
Q: What are the available positions in the team? A: There are translators, timer and/or typesetter, QC/spot translator, encoder & uploader.
Q: How do you sub your videos? A: First of all, translators do all the translation of the video, including the captions and the conversations. After that, the files get transferred to timers and/or typesetters. Timers set the timing of the translations to match with the captions and conversations. After the all the translations are timed, it needs to be typesetted. Typesetters are the ones who choose the font (colors, size, style) and make sure the sub is readable. Usually our timers and/or typesetters need to have basic understanding of Korean to be able to match the translations with the captions and conversations. Sometimes timers and typesetters can be done by one person, sometimes not. After that, the subtitle files are being reviewed (and edited if necessary) by a QCer. QCer makes sure the subtitle has minimal to no error, from translations to the timing and typesetting. After that, QCer combines all subtitle files to one file (usually in .ass format). Move on to encoder, who has to combine the raw video and the subtitle file into one final file that is a hardsubbed video, and makes sure that the quality of the video and audio is not reduced. Encoder also has to put the logo of the team in the video. After that, the final video is ready to be uploaded to several platforms that we use, like Youtube, Dailymotion, Openload, and Google Drive.
Translating needs a lot of time and concentration, especially for videos that have many captions and many people speaking at the same time (this is unavoidable unfortunately, as we have 13 talkative boys ??). Timing and typesetting also consumes so much energy and time as we have to match the translations line-by-line. QC requires accuracy and also time to make sure that everything are translated correctly, to leave no room for misunderstanding in future use. Encoding also requires more, more time, as in average, an 1-hour video needs around 4~6 hours to encode (assuming the video is HD).
Q: Why does it take so long for you to release a video? A: As we have explained, subbing takes a lot of time and everyone in the team have their own real life to consider. Please note that we are basically voluntaring our time to sub, and we don't get paid for this.
Q: Are you still hiring people? A: Yes, our application form is always open.
Q: How many people are there in the team? A: Currently we have 24 people, but not everyone is active at the moment.
Q: How many people handles your accounts? A: Twitter and Curiouscat accounts are handled by one person (the encoder/uploader), who also handles Youtube, Google Drive, and Openload accounts.
Q: Why are you not replying to my question? A: If you send a question via curiouscat, please note that we can't post all answers on Twitter to avoid spam. Please check our curiouscat to check if your question is answered or not. Also, for questions regarding complicated matters, the admin needs to ask the group beforehand.
Q: What applications do you use? A: Translators: Video player, Microsoft Word Timer & Typesetter: Aegisubs Encoder & Uploader: Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate, Wondershare Filmora, VirtualDub

C’est la rentrée (reupload)
How I ended up in a public square behind my lycée, with a group of French teenagers I met an hour ago, listening to French rap and drinking mojito flavoured seven up, I will never know. I can’t begin to explain how much my life has changed in this past week, and how overwhelmed I’ve felt the past few days (hence the lack of a much needed update). For the sake of continuity, let’s start on Thursday 31st, over two weeks ago. I said goodbye for my family for an entire year and then spent thirteen hours on a plane playing scrabble with my friend and watching movies without subtitles. We arrived in Paris around 11 in the morning, jet lagged, tired,  but really happy, and proceeded to spend around two hours sitting on the floor and sharing sweets with some Belgium kids we’d just met. After a couple of days locked up in a small hotel on the outskirts of the city (orientation talks included), each one of us were sent by train to their respective cities. I don’t remember ever being as nervous as I was before getting down the train. And then there they were: my host father and brother waiting for me while I struggled to get of the train with my two enormous suitcases. They were kind enough to talk to me in English and to fill the silence with jokes about the weather. When I arrived home, my host mum was making lunch, and it was probably the single most gourmet lunch I ever had. My first day of school consisted basically in a guided tour through its six floors and endless corridors, and a walk around the city after that with Louis, my host brother. The following day, a group of girls talked to me (probably because of how lost and confused I must’ve looked) and told me everything I needed to know about school (in a weird mix of broken English, overly modulated French and a lot of mimics) and helped me with my schedule, which I still aren’t sure I understand completely. After the weirdest week in my life, I went out with Louis and his friends, ate a kebab in the street, tried really hard to understand when people talked to me (even though most conversations are like: French teen who talks way too fast: Alors, est-ce que tu parles français? Me: Merci So yeah, that pretty much sums up my current knowledge of the French language), but overall just had a great night.
I am aware that this is a ridiculously short update for such a long and eventful time, but one of the magical things about France is that I’ve been spending less than an hour per week on my laptop, which leaves me with little to no time to write.
