I can't dry for shit ☠️ I fucked up someone's poodle because I can't dry dogs off for shit and then just now I fucked up some curly tailed loud ass dog 😭 I'm a little salty because the other new hire had help the entire process while I was kinda let loose by the people I'm shadowing. I understand that SOMEONE has to trim but goddamn. I don't want to piss off any owners or managers by not knowing something I should have day one. I didn't even know I was supposed to check off the dog's health and shit in the system until the person training the other new hire showed me when she had the time. Okay I feel like a dumbass for not looking up a map of Soul Society til just now (okay well all I could find was this one of the Seireitei) but am also glad I did because holy shit, I had so many misconceptions. Hey btw if your ever in need of ranting about a blorbo/oc, this is an ask that tells your to do so. What is the most interesting thing about them? Do they have any symbolism to them and if so what is it about? Favorite ideal situation to put them in? Any romance ideas?

Anon, I want to start off by apologizing for taking EXACTLY A YEAR to reply to this! Happy One Year Anniversary! 💀😭 Obviously, I’ve been thinking about this a lot, trying to decide who I wanted to talk about and trying to put my thoughts into words. And, of course, it took even longer because I wanted to include drawings of the characters… 🤦‍♂️Anyway…

I’ve decided to talk about multiple characters of mine, since they are important for my upcoming comics: Boxman’s mother, father, and sister! I have some New™, Fresh™ information to share about all of them today! Hope you enjoy my ramblings!

MEREDITH (Boxman's Mother)

Most interesting thing: Hmm, well… the things I find most interesting about Meredith are kind of spoilers for my comics, but an interesting thing about her is her special ability! (“Every proper siren has one, darling.” 💅) It’s called Eye of the Storm, and it allows her to summon and control a raging thunderstorm at will. Obviously, this sort of thing takes a lot of energy to maintain, so this ability actually comes with a secondary feature: Meredith can occasionally choose a victim to steal the energy from, and all she has to do to steal said energy is to make direct eye contact with them. The lady’s got a mean glare as it is, but with this power on top of that? Wowza. Watch out.

Symbolism: Given my answer to the previous question, you won’t be surprised to know that I associate Meredith with storms! She is a passionate character with a wild side, and when she truly gets going, she will step aside for no one.

Favorite situation to put them in: Meredith is a complex character with a lot going on, and I don’t want to reduce her to just an antagonist… but MAN, does she make a good antagonist! 😆 I love to put her into situations in which she terrifies/intimidates other characters, and trust me, she will have a lot of chances to do that in the comics!

Romance ideas: Meredith isn’t much for romance. At least not anymore. Heron was her first love, and after her relationship with him went south, her trust in men was destroyed. (To be fair, it was shaky to begin with.) She has, however, made an attempt at another relationship or two for monetary reasons. If that even counts lol

HERON (Boxman's Father)

Most interesting thing: Heron has had a wide variety of experiences across his lifetime, and during that time, he has developed many, many skills. These skills include (but are not limited to): farming, fishing, sailing, cooking, baking, sewing, crochet, whittling, building, juggling, and playing the banjo! Just… don’t ask him to sing, okay?

Symbolism: Heron’s symbolism is… probably pretty obvious, huh? I mean… he’s got an anchor… tattooed… on his back… *ahem* Anyway. The anchor is connected to a lot of Heron’s positive attributes—loyalty and sturdiness being the main ones. But it is also connected to some of his character flaws and the way he views himself. In a way, Heron himself is an anchor, for all the good and bad that entails. ⚓

Favorite situation to put them in: Despite the immense amount of comic outlining and scriptwriting I’ve been doing for Siren Theory, I can say pretty confidently that any scene in which Heron interacts with Professor Venomous is one of my favorites. It’s partly due to the “meet the parents” trope, but the other part of it is that Heron is just an unusual guy who does unusual things, and having a stranger witness that firsthand is hilarious.

Romance ideas: While Heron has had his share of crushes in his youth, he has never been in a serious relationship with anyone but Meredith… and he would like to keep it that way. He still feels like he’s putting the pieces of himself back together after their messy separation.

REBECCA/SIRENA (Boxman's Sister)

Most interesting thing: I think the thing that I enjoy most about Rebecca is the duality in her personality. She is very charismatic and graceful onstage as Sirena, but offstage, when she’s just Rebecca, she can be pretty socially awkward and kind of a klutz.

Symbolism: Some of you may have made the connection already, but Sirena’s real name, Rebecca, is a nod to Rebecca Sugar, the creator of Steven Universe and the spouse of Ian Jones-Quartey (creator of OK KO). This name was actually a suggestion by my sister (Thanks, girlie!) because she knew Sugar sang the end credit song of OK KO, and that little song was one of my inspirations for creating Sirena in the first place. Since then, the name has really proven itself to be a perfect fit for my little superstar siren! The meaning of the name Rebecca is “to tie/bind,” and Rebecca really is the character that ties her family—and the narrative of a lot of the comics—together!

Favorite situation to put them in: My favorite moments for Rebecca are the ones in which she is emotionally vulnerable. It isn’t always easy for her, but there are some things that will happen in the comics that will force her to wear her heart on her sleeve. I’m excited for that!

Romance ideas: Honestly, I’ve come up with so many ideas for OK KO that I won’t have space for all of them in the narrative, even though I’m planning to create, like, 19 comics! 😂 One of those things that won’t get a lot of time in the spotlight is Rebecca’s developing romance with a certain someone. That being said, it wouldn’t be a big spoiler for me to say… Plazecca! 🎵

People love beating a dead horse, I tell ya. But, in all seriousness can people just tone it down a little? I know that it'll never completely go away, nevertheless it has worn out its welcome.

Genuinely, I can say without question, people have run out of excuses for why these two couldn't possibly be together. We've gone from siblings to bffs, co-workers to weaponizing Courtney's sexuality against them, the list goes on and on.

Just let them be. As much slack as Shartney shippers get for making compilations or writing fan fic, those on the opposite side are doing pretty much the same thing, just the inverse. It must be tedious for them after a while, but I know they can handle it. They've been at this a long time, they've got tough skin.

Lastly, they probably looked at each other that way, because as previously mentioned, they've definitely heard this/something similar for years now. On top of the fact, what else are they supposed to do? Kiss each other on stream or call each other by some pet name? Court and Shania, obviously being excluded. That would surely do wonders for their private lifes🙄

In moments like this if I were them I'd just be like f*** it! Why not throw caution to the wind and subtly go public? Despite all this I understand why they remain resloute.

Yeah. I saw that thread on Smosh Reddit back when it just created and muttered to myself "Here we go again..." but surprisingly the comment is not that intrusive except the one from your screencap. Also I think a lot of Smosh fan probably realized now that they're together and low key rooting for them too.

Kind of hard to take you serious and love on Adult Tiki when you basically just spat in the face of all the Camilla, Byleth, and Child Tiki fans in your tags. Like it or not, those characters have a lot of fans... hence why IntSys makes a lot of alts of them.

I don't get why people like Byleth either (i mean I do with at least the female Byleth but still) when they're about as interesting as an unpainted wall, but still.

Alright, let me be blunt here; I wouldn't take me very seriously, first of all. By my own earlier admission, I am unreasonably angry and the initial overreaction to what's been shown to us will probably pass relatively quickly after a couple of days or so, so take most of what I say with a whole shaker of salt, even though I am initially salty over the matter.

However, that said, you say that as though I'm aiming my anger directly at the characters or their fans, and that no one else has complaints about the oversaturation of these characters with their excessive amount of alts, when neither is the case.

Setting FEH's constant obsession with fanservice aside for a moment, look...I actually really really like Camilla, and both Young and Adult Tiki, though I clearly have a preference for Adult TIki between the two just because she feels more developed as a character by the time of FE:A, but I mean...that's not really a knock against Young Tiki since that sort of character growth tends to happen over the course of about, y'know, 2000 years or so. I'm not overly fond of Byleth, but I don't downright dislike them either? I think it's various interpretations of Byleth in the RP community giving them some actual agency and whatnot that makes me like them? But, uh, my views on all three of those characters is another can of worms entirely because the bottom line is this:

The characters aren't the problem. The large number of fans isn't the problem. I mean, hell, that's how the whole twitter campaign for Adult Tiki to get her to #1 in CYL6 got started in the first place (so I wouldn't necessarily suggest she's not popular)

The problem is IntSys (which is why I specifically worded the tags as I did) and their willingness to milk every bit of new hotness for what it's worth until it runs dry, making people sick of certain characters and just ceasing to care, and that's where my gripes come from. It's already happened with Camilla and it's happening now with Young Tiki, F!Byleth, and pretty much all the main leads of Three Houses actually, and it will continue to happen in the future because they won't stop.

As for the alt itself, it feels like a spit in the face to all the fans who wanted an alt for Adult Tiki when they just give us her in Young Tiki's outfit as if outright rejecting the idea that we should want more Adult Tiki. At the end of the day that's where all my unreasonable and unnecessary salt stems from.

Besides, if I really wanted to stir up some shit, I'd just go on twitter, give my take on it, and act like I have no self-awareness or don't even recognize that it has me unreasonably upset 🤦‍♂️I often question why I even visit that hellsite sometimes until I remember it's where most of the art is these days.

I think the main reason John is canceled is how he’s made out to be Saint John the Beloved Peace Activist Martyr. I don’t think his estate is entirely to blame because the same sort of thing happens to most celebrities who die young, but it’s worse with John because he’s glorified more as an activist vs. as an artist. His activism was fine, but treating him like a saint is unrealistic. At some point, people get tired of having the same pretentious, constructed image shoved in their faces, so it’s satisfying to take him down a peg (especially when it’s Gen Z taking down a boomer icon). Ringo hasn’t been lionized in the same way so it makes sense that he wouldn’t be canceled. “Imagine singer John Lennon beat his wife” is just a more sensational headline than like, “It Don’t Come Easy singer beat his wife”.

Re: Would John Lennon be “cancelled” in the 21st century?

Like I stated in my post, I really just don’t have an opinion on whether the story about Ringo physically beating Maureen, almost to death, is true because ive never been able to pinpoint an exact source in which Ringo admits to this. I know ive heard in passing that Ringo discussed this incident in an interview, but after researching it, I just haven’t found any credible source in which Ringo actually states this, so I just don’t know. If anyone does have the original source for this, by all means send me it because id love to get some closure on this topic - but as for now, I just remain neutral on this topic.

But going onto the second point, I absolutely agree that Johns “cancellation” is largely perpetuated as a response to his mythologised status.

His name is supposed to be almost synonymous with “peace and luv” - but anyone who has read up on the actual behaviours and actions of John knows that he was abusive, vitriolic, cruel, violent and lets face it, often times he was just a plain a bully. BUT we also know he was deeply insecure, alienated, mentally ill, depressed, chaotic, emotionally unstable, drug-addicted etc. And none of these aspects to John negate the other - as ive stated here (x), if someone doesn’t like him because he was abusive, I don’t have an issue with that; that he was “sad and insecure ☹️” ultimately isn’t a justification or excuse for his behaviours. Some people just aren’t going to have a lot of empathy for him, and its not up to me to decide whether they do or don’t forgive him. But also, the freedom to decide whether we do or don’t like or respect him is just a part of the real image of John Lennon: the one that was simply just a human being, not a mirage of Peace, and not the embodiment of abuse - literally, he was just some guy.

But I think 2 things to factor into the quite abrupt “cancellation” he’s received are 1. that the reality is is that there is something I guess satisfying in knowing the all-too-perfect person is actually pretty rotten - we’ve seen this with plenty of other symbolic figures throughout history, be it Ghandi, Martin Luther King Jr, Mother Teresa, Walt Disney or basically anyone else who you’d expect to find on a “10 respected historical figures who were actually terrible people” list. These supposed idols are put on a pedestal, and idealised to such an extent that when they fall, there often just is something pleasing about it, because theres a type of security in the knowledge that idols and earthly-Gods do not exist; that they were just human all along. Im reminded of an extract from East Of Eden, when Steinbeck wrote:

“When a child first catches adults out…his world falls into panic desolation. The gods are fallen and all safety gone. And there is one sure thing about the fall of gods: they do not fall a little; they crash and shatter or sink deeply into green muck. It is a tedious job to build them up again; they never quite shine. And the child's world is never quite whole again.” - John Steinbeck, East Of Eden

Another thing to account for is, 2. Most people don’t know the contexts behind Johns behaviours, because a lot of them have just read “10 things you don’t know about John Lennon - no. 1 He beat his wife, no. 2 He abandoned his son etc.”, and so for me thats the main thing with tackling the more controversial, miserable side to Johns life: just give people more context. I’ll just reinstate my earlier point in saying, some people aren’t going to have a lot of empathy for John, and I get it. Nobody has to like him. But I think the contexts surrounding a lot Johns controversies are worth taking into account, because whilst saying “he was a wife-beater” isn’t necessarily untrue, it isn’t entirely accurate either, and there are various other factors to be accounted for. So with people who want to “cancel” John Lennon, I think its best to just expand upon his more critical subjects and explain them in better detail, because I certainly don’t think its a bad thing to discuss the darker edge to John Lennon - although having said that, I admit I probably wouldn’t really bother talking with people who want to “cancel” John online, because I imagine the majority just want TikTok views, and aren’t in fact interested in having a genuine discussion about him.

If John hadn’t died, perhaps he wouldn’t be so much “cancelled” (which ill just say again that I don’t think he actually has been/never will be) but rather we’d just see a progressive disillusionment within our perceptions of him.

Caution I just need to ramble for a second. Feel free to ignore this.

One of my favorite youtubers just did a video about how youtube is slowly but surely destroying him. He talks about how he likes twitch way more nowadays because the community there is what youtube was way back when.

He talks about struggling with regaining his passion for something he loved to do and... I feel him so much. 

Because that's something I've been struggling with a lot this year too.

I love writing fanfic but somehow I lost the passion for that, but through you guys on here... and I literally mean all of you, I managed to regain my passion. 

It might not be for the ship I started out writing but honestly, who cares. Chan is absolutely right. Who cares what I write about or what videos he does, at the end of the day what counts is that I do it because I want to. 

Not because I force myself to do it -which is why I pulled the plug on my last Kixcase project- but because I want to.

Who cares if the fandom for proquet is small as hell? Who cares if I write the ullrichstrong behemoth and spend all this time on it, only to get no engagement? Who cares if most of my followers don't care about my harry potter ocs?

What's important is that I LOVE DOING WHAT I'M DOING!!

And, oh my god, I just realised something.
