I know everyone likes to make fun of Ezra for believing Maul, but I honestly really liked that, because. Like. He's been working so hard to learn to trust people again. His new-found family is teaching him how to open up and how to let himself love others without being too afraid of losing them to connect
And he doesn't immediatly trust Maul, which shows that even if his trust issues are much better now, he's still not stupid and knows to be careful around strangers, especially if you found them inside a Sith Temple
But. Maul shows and tells him what he wants to see; he acts kind with him, reassures him when he's in doubt, and manipulates Ezra (who is a CHILD) into beliving in him so he could get what he wanted
Then he betrays him, and by blinding Kanan, he proves Ezra's 'little me' right

this season of ted lasso saying sam should forgive racists who vandalized the restaurant and then you know, dropping anything to do with that storyline immediately afterwards
and the saying jamie should forgive his abusive father bc hating him apparently isn’t good for him or whatever
doesn’t feel great tbh

I was thinking the other day that man, kokuto neji is such a character and I haven't liked a writer character like this since... shang qinghua?
which naturally led me to this thought: jj fic with svsss-style au where neji transmigrates/gets isekai'd into the world of havenna. as domina, of course.
it's extra fucked up imo because at least when sqh transmigrated in his book, he made up all of those characters and they mostly stayed in the realm of fantasy. like, sure, lbh was kinda based on himself in some ways and mbj was his ideal fantasy, but they still mostly stayed fictional, you know? sqq (sy) had to fix his plots because the characters sqh wrote strayed too far from their original plotlines
but theater makes a fictional world a bit too real and personal, especially when you use real people as inspirations for your writing. with neji, he'd be looking at rukiora and see three different people (mitsuki acting as rukiora; rukiora who was written based on a younger version of neji; rukiora who is her own person in this weirdly real world of havenna). neji would see fugio and to him that is both sou acting as fugio and the fugio who grew up with poison flowers. miguel is both fumi and the guy who ran away from his neshiromi fields. the only constant would probably be chicchi. she is too much like kisa in that... well. neji didn't really have a backstory for chicchi. chicchi is a blank canvas just like kisa is as an actor.
anyway. yeah, very sv-style character arc where neji, much like shen yuan in sv, is forced to humanize the villain. except this villain was his creation and is also tied to a bunch of personal issues for neji that he Doesn't Want To Think About and also he doesn't? really understand the character he wrote tbh?
isn't art supposed to process your emotions for you!! why must he process these himself!!
can you imagine neji, who always casts himself as a seer of some sort (fortune teller, ushinoko) or someone who generally has some control over his future or his "creation" (who is mary if not just another side of neji anyway; she's takihime redux, and takihime is also. neji). imagine this dude being transported inside the play he wrote but he doesn't understand it and he has no control over it and everyone's acting both in character and out of character. he both knows and doesn't know these people. they're fictional but also... real? does he treat them as real people? is domina real? he wanted his actors to imbue parts of themselves into his characters. are these people really just characters from a script? are they his quartz classmates? is he allowed to even hope that that's the case?
it's both THE improv exercise of his dreams and also. a nightmare

I was hanging up a Halloween garland to get a little more into the spirit of things, when I lost hold of the damn thing and it flung itself against my shelf.
The one with a vase on it. Which immediately got dragged down to the floor.
I could already hear the crash of glass... except it never came. There I am on my stepstool, looking at my scattered dried flowers, absolutely confused as to where the hell that vase went. I thought it had disappeared. Somehow. I was properly befuddled.
...It had fallen into one of my backpacks, which basically swallowed the whole thing up without looking like anything had happened. Thanks for making me think I was losing it dude. At least I didn't have to clean up any glass (´-﹏-`;)

Musical Touken Ranbu: Tokyo Kokoro Oboe english sub
I know this isn’t the TsuruKara Souki you were expecting, but on the plus side, neither was I expecting this! Since I’m watching this with a friend soon, I figured, why not? It is very high up in my faves list, after all 🥺
Following my predecessors, the start of the subtitles has a little intro blurb on each of the historical figures, and I’m also planning on making a little research file in which I’ll try to explain a few things about Masakado and horses, Masakado and Kikyou, Ota Dokan and the yamabuki (Japanese kerria) girl, and some details about Tenkai as person and his planning of Edo as city.
I’m also planning to include some translation notes (specifically on ほころび・る hokorobi/ru because that deserves to be mentioned) in the file, some interpretations on the girl with the Noh mask, and a few fun facts about how each of the historical figures relates to Inari or foxes. Because in the context of the roles Suishinshi and the Gous get given throughout TKO, as well as the themes present in it, it may be interesting to keep a certain little fox in the back of your mind while watching!
Keep in mind that this is only the subtitle file, timed and tled to the DMM archive distribution.
You can download the subs for the DMM archive distribution here,
and with lots of thanks to a friend, the subs for the BD/DVD version can be found here!
The research file will be able to be found here too, at a later date.

Sewerhell Sunday again
Uhhhh post-Ruin/Mimic encounter, Cassie becomes friends with all of Mimic's previous guards very quickly. This is especially the case in situations where they helped guide her and Roxy into defeating Mimic.
The other three guards were the original Roxy, Mangle and the first Foxy. The last time these three dealt with Mimic, it tore Mangle and Foxy's friendship apart. Foxy genuinely hates both of them for what happened and they hate him in return but they all agree that Cassie is more important.
Cassie doesn't blame any of them for what happened before or what happened to her. She's the most sympathetic human they've ever met. Roxy's original (now mostly known as Rockabella or Bella/Rocky for short) in particular was brought to tears within minutes of their first meeting, that's how good she is to them. She understands they struggle to get along and makes a point to hang out with all three of them.
In the setup where the manager fucks the security up and Sewerhell breaks loose, the three older guards end up with an interesting bond with Roxy too. These are the only three animatronics in existence that know the full extent of what she's had to deal with for years and unsurprisingly, that's something she's needed for a very long time. Mangle adopted her as a little sister almost immediately, Bella was a bit slower, offering support but also not really knowing what to do, and while Roxy knows that this Foxy hates her by association, she also has a sneaking suspicion he's taking a slow and gradual shine to her. He's threatened to kill her. She's completely unphased. He's never once even so much as poked her, never mind hurt her.
Honestly, he's got beef with a lot of Sewerhell guys, there's a lot of people telling both Roxy and Cassie to be careful around him. He doesn't really know what to do with these two. He wouldn't hurt Cassie, but he could hurt Roxy. He could! He swears he could! It would take nothing to beat the shit out of her! He could do it!
He's also a fucking liar! Who woulda thought?

with the disclaimer that i am definitely prone to negative thinking and that i don’t have a super wide social circle so i haven’t, of course, observed what it’s like for a ton of kids and younger people these days!--
does anyone else just .......... yearn for a time when the internet wasn’t so everywhere?
in particular, i feel sad for kids, because screens are like having ten thousand pieces of candy in front of you at every second. like, how do you resist the lure? how can you NOT want it? how can you not get addicted?? it’s shiny infinite entertainment! but then everything you do is filtered through this device. (this is where i’m gonna get really judgy in a way that’s maybe over-simplistic and too negative. i know there are tons of benefits to the internet and all the information and content we have access to today! i’m just not talking about those in this post.) like, what chance do the old activities have, like doing art or playing board games or reading physical books or going outside or doing science experiments or even just watching a handful of movies over and over because those were the only options you had in your at-home video library?? (as opposed to youtube throwing endless content at young viewers via algorithm.) or even just sitting around being bored, with naught but your own thoughts???
i also find it wild that it’s so expected that from a very young age everyone in your family has this extremely expensive technological device. (like, i feel like my parents definitely would not have been willing to buy me a hundreds-of-dollars mini-computer to carry around all the time that could’ve easily gotten broken ... but it was such a different time, this being the norm would have been unimaginable!) is it hard to opt out of smart phone culture for kids? is it even acceptable to be like “my kid isn’t going to have a smartphone/ipad/whatever until high school” anymore?
i’m just really feeling the pressure of there being infinite options for screen entertainment at every moment. it has REALLY scrambled my brains as a 30-something adult. so it makes me really curious how it feels to grow up in that environment without having ever experienced what it was like before, when your options were still plentiful (”having fun isn’t hard when you’ve got a library card!”) but much, much, much more limited. i kinda feel like you could get deeper and more profound enjoyment out of things just because there wasn’t a part of you always wondering “okay, what next?” that could be instantly gratified.
but again! i am definitely old-man-yells-at-clouds as my default setting, and therefore prone to complaining about the age of technological marvels we are living in. still ... omg, i’m so tired. i’m just really curious about whether something truly has been lost, or if that’s just how i feel because i’m nostalgic for how it was when i was younger and the internet was way more niche and one part of life that it was easy to put down and walk away from rather than EVERYWHERE ALL THE TIME.

When Khare's mutation advances to the point that it can no longer be hidden, she will straight up vanish off the face of the earth, quitting her job at Pauli's Diner with a quick phonecall before abandoning her apartment in the dead of night. Everything she owns will be left behind in a hurry, other than the few items that could identify her which will promptly be destroyed and dumped into Gotham Bay before she heads deep into the sewers, only daring to venture out on rare occasions for the things she needs until she can no longer pretend she's even human.
