Lulea was a prosperous planet; a bustling landscape of bright marketplaces, paved in what Ajaz could only assume was special jewels unlike any he’d ever seen before. A short journey from the central hub brought him to a towering building that looked like a palace but he knew that wasn’t the case for there was no royalty presence here. He couldn’t help but wonder if this was what a thriving society built on democracy was supposed to be.

It was a shame he wouldn’t be able to spend more time here after retrieving the item — a document of government names — that Whitlock requested. Enjoying some time in the lavish taverns would surely lift the weariness that settled in his bones after spending three weeks in Trailblazer without landing.

His steps faltered for a moment, on their way to the building-that-wasn’t-a-palace. There wasn’t a rule to say he had to get on with the job right this minute. So what if he took a day to explore and take advantage of the comforts Lulea had to offer? Refreshing himself and stretching his legs would do him wonders, especially if there was a chance he’d have to leg it back to his ship once he got his hands on that document.

That settled it. Turning on his heel, Ajaz headed back to the busy part of the city, known as Tievine. It was too early for dinner and a drink in one of the taverns he'd been dreaming of, so he’d turn his attention elsewhere for now. Young children darted up and down the streets, laughing and playing. Clearly, this was a safe area, which made a change from some of the places he’d been in recent memory. Even as he wandered, the locals didn’t seem to care that he looked different to them. A planet that accepted all travelers? Would make sense given how much trade that came in and out of the city. Again, Ajaz was seeing all the signs that pointed to this place being on the right track to growing in both wealth and lifestyle, something that Maevandor could learn from.

Of course, not everyone here was as good-natured as his initial impressions suggested. While the locals were pleasant enough, there were those from off-planet that weren’t as well-versed in benevolence.

After spending about an hour or so checking out independent stalls and small shopping outlets, Ajaz realized that someone was shadowing him. He hadn’t managed to sneak a peek at who it was yet because they always slipped away as he tried to subtly catch them out. Turning a corner, he marched on the spot for a moment to make it seem like his footsteps were still ongoing, then waited to see if his stalker would make an appearance.

This is just one of many different types of morning glory. Most morning glories open their blooms fully in the morning and then fade throughout the day. I observed this one at about 9am, so I’m not sure what it would look like later in the day!

I think the bug in the second picture is a Cycloneda sp. / spotless lady beetle, but I didn’t get a better look at it.

I LOVE SNOW AND COLD DAYS. Specifically, I love the extra cold days when I know can make a fire and read beside it. But also I would wilt like a tievine if I lived in a cold climate location. Full answer: I prefer a perfect in-between generally with the occasional extra cold day.
