"Hey Tiger?"

Silence.

Bear tried again turning over fully on her cot.

"Ti?"

"What is it?" Their sleepy reply came after another moment, followed by the rustling of their puffer jacket as they rolled over.

"Did I ever tell you about Wendy?" Bear asked softly, eyes tracing their sleeping companions face. Their wild flames of hair even more tousled from sleep. Tiger's eyes fully opened at that, a confused look crossing their features.

"Who?" Their voice was hushed still. It felt like they knew everything there was to about eachother and yet..

"My sister."

"I didn't know you had one." That stung in a way Bear knew they hadn't meant it too. It took a moment for her to swallow the knot in her throat to get the words out.

She told them of the few memories she still had of her. How special she had been, how perfectly ordinary everything had been up until it wasn't. How she had been ripped from them. And the whole time Tiger listened, eyes so full of understanding and compassion, but also their trademark fury.

And by the end of it hot tears were gathering, threatening to spill over. Till fingers brushed them away, tracing over her cheeks. Tiger took Bear's face in their strong yet surprisingly sweet grasp. Their eyes met. Sky and woods.

"So we're gonna get her back." It was so sure it took her breath away. Tiger knew what telling them meant and their promised meant the same. They were saying the same thing without having to say it.

"Yea. We are."

So Richard Fox (Pubba) and Birdie (Mumma), of course have animal names, which is pretty perfect as the parents of the first hybrid kid.

Aimee Eden runs the preserve, a garden of eden for the hybrids who can't live anywhere else in the world without persecution.

Then we have Tommy Jepperd, Big Man, who above all else is quintessentially human. He's the good and the bad of humanity. He hunted and killed, but he was fueled by the pain of losing his family. He wants to be a good person but he'll do everything to resist it.

Bear and Tiger, along with the rest of the animal army, are interesting to me. They have human names, but they've abandoned them to take on the persona's of the hybrids they protect. As the last generation of humans, they hate humanity for what they did to the world and want to be the next evolution. But Bear eventually returns to being Becky, because at the end of the day she can't escape who she is.

Now the Abbotts, well, they're the leaders of a cult, followed by scores of monks desperate for answers to a world that doesn't make sense, and a purpose in this new society. Douglas is an abbot of a dying religion, and Johnny wants nothing more than to follow him, even though he knows its wrong.

Sweet Tooth tells us that their names are important when we discover that Gus is an acronym for Genetic Unit Series 1, but the meanings go so much deeper than that

For the sweet tooth au, is the story similar to the original shows story? Or does the au just take place in the same world as sweet tooth, with its own desperate story? Sorry if this is a dumb question btw

its a bit of both! parts of it follow the canon shows story, parts of it are edited to fit!

like, for example, michael still lost his family and worked as a last man in Jep's place, but how it happened is different and hes william's (abbot in this au) son ofc! ^^

or how henry and charlie replace adi and rani, so instead of it being a husband and wife, its father and daughter
