Hiya, I’m Cupcakedex, and I love making Pokemon foods!
I’ve been making my own Pokemon-themed foods for a few years, and in 2020 I started livestreaming my baking adventures at twitch.tv/cupcakedex!
I generally use recipes I find online, which I always try to credit, even if I make my own changes. This is a masterpost for the many recipes I’ve used during my streams!
Babka danishes
These muffin-sized danishes are delicious any time of day, especially right out the oven!
Bao buns - BBQ pork char siu
We made these during a cook-along with John Leung, and they were some of the tastiest things I’ve ever made! A ton of effort, but well worth it.
Bars - rainbow cheesecake bars
Incredibly delicious, definitely hard not to just eat em all!
Bars - coconut chocolate squares
One of the easiest recipes on the list, highly recommended for any coconut fans!
Bars - lemon raspberry squares
Lemon curd + raspberry = love! You’ll have to let each miexture set a bit, then spoon them into piping bags to get this unique look.
Bars - nanaimo bars
This Canadian dessert combines coconut, chocolate and icing for a decadent treat! I would do 1.5x the amounts on the middle layer and add vanilla, and you can leave out the almonds or replace with another nut.
Bars - pumpkin cheesecake brownies
You’re making both brownies and pumpkin cheesecake here and swirling them together, and it is well worth the effort! These were a huge hit at parties, and coating them in salted caramel candy melts took them over the top!
Bars - rocky road
Easy, quick, won’t dirty many bowls, and a hit with sweettooths of all ages!
Cake - apple cake
I used Spartan apples to make this apple cake, and instead of the topping and frosting in the recipe, I just made an American buttercream with cinnamon, and it’s to die for!
Cake - chocolate cake
This has been my go-to chocolate cake recipe lately, and I love it. You can substitute the buttermilk pretty easily. It’s super chocolate-y and rich, a real crowd-pleaser!
Cake - chocolate chip cake
Absolutely delicious for anyone craving chocolate chip cookies and cake!
Cake - dome cake
This is a pretty good recipe for making dome-shaped cakes, which I’ve found to be a fun way of making different Pokemon. If you’re making chocolate cake, definitely add extra cocoa powder. While baking, add a metal nail piece or rolled up tin foil in the middle of the cake pan to help it bake evenly.
Cake - gingerbread Yule log
Literally a perfect cake for the holidays, this was a smash everywhere we brought it. The roll is intimidating, but worth it for that gingerbread whipped cream!
Cake - patterned log cake
A great in-depth recipe, to which I added lemon curd for the buttercream icing. Light and yummy!
Cake - chocolate log cake
I’ve gotten rave reviews for this recipe and I personally adore it! A log cake on its side is super eye-catching!
Cake - chocolate coconut log
Okay, so I didn’t actually roll this cake into a log, and I definitely made it so thin it overcooked, but the flavour is definitely there! Looking forward to trying this one again.
Cake - citrus log cake
An explosion of light citrus flavours!
Cake - strawberry shortcake
Hard to go wrong with this delicious cake, especially the vanilla strawberries!
Cake - tiger stripes
Black cocoa powder created a beautiful colour, and it paired well with buttercream icing.
Cheesecake - black & white
A very simple and yummy way to make a dual vanilla and chocolate cheesecake! An Oreo crust made it extra chocolate-y!
Cheesecake - key lime
A request for my partner’s birthday, this was absolutely AMAZING, especially with added streusel topping!
Cakesicles - cookie dough
Rich and yummy! Not half bad with mint chocolate chips either...
Chocolate peanut butter eggs
A fabulous flavour combination by ThePracticalEscapist! Try adding chocolate ganache to take them over the top!
Cookies - sugar cookies
I’ve been using this cookie recipe for a few years, and it hasn’t failed me yet! You don’t even need to rest your cut cookie dough in the fridge if your ingredients are the right temperature.
Cookie icing - royal Icing
This has been my go-to recipe for cookie decorating for a few years now. You do have to learn to adjust the consistency based on your needs, though!
Cookies - giant number cookie cake
These almond cookies with cream cheese icing were a huge hit, and I even got some requests to make them for birthdays!
Cookies - slice and bake
Use this recipe to make any simple design a dozen times!
Cookies - Schwarz-Weiss Gebäck cookies
#6 at the link, it’s only 3 ingredients and great for making dough do all kinds of things a normal sugar cookie dough can’t!
Crepes
I’ve been using this crepe recipe for a few years, and it has tons of great tips! It also worked pretty well to make some basic pancake art for Meowth’s head, arms, legs, and tail.
Cupcakes - chocolate
My go-to chocolate cupcake recipe! I find this tends to make at least 14 cupcakes - if your tray doesn’t have enough spaces and you have to fill a second tray, fill any unused spaces with a few tablespoons of water (otherwise your lone cupcakes can dry out)!
Donuts - beavertails
Delicious, and an excellent delivery system for all kinds of yummy toppings.
Donuts - protein donuts
We made some slight adjustments to this standard yeast donut recipe to add protein powder!
Donuts - malasadas
You can’t beat these classic Alolan treats inspired by the Hawaiin donut!
French toast - red velvet & cream cheese
A very interesting spin on French toast, and adds a lovely hint of chocolate to your brunch.
Frittatas - apple & cheese
This was my first time making frittatas, and they’re super savoury and delicious!
Gummies
If you’ve ever wanted to make your own gummy bears, this recipe is super easy and yummy!
Ice Cream - no-churn vanilla
I don’t have an ice cream machine, so this recipe was perfect! I added my food dye to the heavy cream before whipping, which worked out perfectly.
Icing - chocolate buttercream
I love how fudge-y and chocolate-y this recipe is, and it’s perfect for cakes and cupcakes!
Mochi - potato mochi
This easy recipe by Splatkelly transports you right to the Hisui region! The texture is amazing and the sweet-savoury sauce is to die for!
Muffins - Jubilife muffins
A simple and yummy recipe by JammyCooks!
Muffins - jam muffins
Super simple muffin recipe - if you don’t feel like buying berries, it’s super easy to add jam to add some nice flavour.
Muffins - Oreo muffins
I made both regular and golden Oreo muffins, and they worked super well.
Pancakes - pancake art
This is a super simple recipe, but definitely be sure to read the tips on making pancake art - there are so many little things to learn to bring it to the next level!
Pancakes - potato pancakes (latkas)
This delicious Chanukkah treat fried in oil may not be healthy, but it’s hard to beat!
Pancakes - cheesy potato pancakes (latkas)
This recipe involves mashed potatoes and feta cheese, creating a whole new (and very delicious) taste experience!
Pasta
I used AquattheWailord’s Tangela tagliatelle recipe to make this spooky pasta, with some minor differences like adding extra garlic and spices, as well as using beetjuice and purple food dye to get the colour.
Petit Fours
We combined a few recipes to make these!
Pie - apple pie cookies
These are seriously delicious! I’d use less spices to give the crust a paler colour.
Pie - berry pie
An easy and delicious recipe, and you can customize your filling to your own taste.
Pie - key lime
You can use standard limes for this delicious pie, and it’s so easy to make!
Pie - Oreo pie
This may be more like a cheesecake, but it’s incredibly delicious!
Pie - orange lemon pie
We made an Oreo base and ganache topping, and it was a huge hit!
Poffins
Very yummy - details about fillings here!
Pop Tarts
Pop Tart blueberry filling
These were DELICIOUS, leagues better than the store-bought stuff, and you can customize the filling and icing. The chocolate ones are especially amazing!
Shaved Ice - without ice shaver
You could call this shaved ice, bingsu, or even a slushie - either way, it’s easy, and only requires a blender!
Tea Biscuits
I got this recipe from The Great Canadian Living Cookbook, but I found the same recipe online. Only 5 ingredients and one bowl needed!
Whipped Cream
I love that this stabilized whipped cream holds it shape for hours, or even days in the fridge!
Wraps - breakfast Punchwrap
I used a recipe I found online as a starting point for these scrambled egg and potato breakfast wraps, and even Googled how Taco Bell folds their crunchwraps!
