Zeit is the eighth studio album by German Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein, released on 29 April 2022 through Universal Music. Produced by the band with Olsen Involtini, the album was unplanned and recorded as a result of the band's tour being postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. According to Flake, the sessions were spontaneous and that the lockdown caused the band to "have more time to think of new things and less distraction"

The photograph used for the cover art and promotional material was taken by Canadian musician Bryan Adams. It shows the members of Rammstein walking down a staircase connected to the Trudelturm, a monument dedicated to aerial research, located at Aerodynamic Park in Adlershof in Berlin.

Rammstein began posting clips to their social media accounts on 8 March 2022, teasing forthcoming new material with the hashtag "#ZEITkommt"

Bryan Adams played a role in choosing Rammstein's "Zeit" album cover. In an interview for the German "Rolling Stone", he shared that he convinced Till Lindemann to use the iconic Trudelturm in Berlin as the band's album cover. Lindemann needed a bit of persuasion, so Adams had the band run up and down the Trudelturm.

"When we were doing the cover, I said to Till Lindemann: "See that tower over there? That's your album cover!" He just said: "Hm, yeah, maybe". I got the band to walk around on it. I just thought: "Man, that's so good, I'd love to have that for my own album cover"."

Adams, a co-founder of Zoo Magazine, loves Berlin and used his photography skills for Rammstein's latest album photoshoot. Adams said that he values teamwork, emphasizing its importance in both music (as in Rammstein's case) and fashion photography. "You need stylists who know what they're doing and people who do it all the time, because if one aspect is wrong, it can ruin the whole thing."

Built in 1934 for aviation research, the Trudelturm is a spin tower. It pioneered lab simulations of spins. Crucial for understanding spin dynamics, it aided in intercepting and regaining control of free-falling planes. Rammstein's "Zeit" cover features band members walking down its exterior staircase.

Review of Zeit. From Kerrang!:

Surprise Rammstein, eh? Well, not exactly surprise Rammstein, is it – they said all the way back in 2020 that they were, against even their best-laid plans, in the studio in France after Covid caused their European stadium tour to halt, but still. You didn’t start this week knowing you’d have the first piece of their eighth album by the end of it.

Like the incredible, cinematic video for Deutschland, the opening throw from 2019’s ‘Untitled’ album, Zeit is, predictably what you want from Rammstein but also nothing you could have imagined until they actually serve it to you.

Considering the gap between that album and this is more than a third of that dividing ‘Untitled’ and Liebe ist für alle da, Zeit feels every bit as grand, stately and overpowering as Deutschland or Was ich liebe from that album. Which are obviously Rammstein’s specialties, but considering the circumstances under which it was made – unexpected, unplanned, off-the-cuff (by the band’s notably particular standards) – it feels made of stone and iron, even at first glimpse.

Visually, Rammstein here adopt a hard, granite hue. The new photos by Canadian rock legend-turned-celeb-snapper Bryan Adams, captured at Trudelturm in Berlin Adlershof, give an isolation, while the video itself is similarly somber. Death hangs heavy, a sadness sits through it all. Even the band's mugging for the camera as boatmen about to fall to their deaths is absolutely straight-faced; the baby being born in reverse is meant to be met with nothing that would raise a smily. Deutschland it is not,

The lyrics – at first read, apparently reflecting on the never-ending robbery of moments by the passing of time and the inevitability of The End – are perfectly delivered by Till Lindemann’s mighty voice. ‘So perfekt ist der moment / Doch weiter läuft die zeit/Augenblick, verweile doch/ Ich bin noch nicht bereit’ (‘So perfect is the moment/ Yet time runs on / Moment, linger still / I am not ready yet’) But his grandiosity here is not the Barad Dur of their towering stage set from their 2019 stadium shows, but a statue’s unmovable, windswept, quiet dignity.

Inevitably, Zeit is a thread on which to pull, to invite questions about what else will come to exist around it when the album is released next month. The first glance is that Zeit, the album, will be a more noir affair than the face its thunderous predecessor wore. There were, of course, more reserved elements there, too (like Diamant), but they were preceded by the flamboyant Deutschland, the thumping Radio, the eyebrow-waggling Auslander.

But that’s just it, isn’t it – surprise Rammstein. As ever, you’re only allowed to see exactly what they want you to. And for Zeit, that’s a magnificent thing.

Den Baum da, den hatte ich lange Zeit im Visier. Immer wieder hin. Alltags. Abends. Sonntags. Irgendein Scheiß-Auto stand immer im Weg. Oder irgendwelche Typen, die mich fragten, was ich denn da mache. Hätte so ein schönes Motiv sein können.

Und wäre ich ein mächtiger, etablierter Photograph, wäre es wahrscheinlich keine große Sache, die Karren und Rumsteher aus dem Weg zu schaffen. Aber ich, ich habe keine Lust, mich mit Menschen rumzuschlagen. Das ist doch das schöne am Zeichnen und am Photographieren, zumindest in der Art, in der ich es tue. Daß man als Ein-Mann-Unternehmen operieren kann.

In der Filmbranche arbeiten müssen mit den Riesenmobs von nervenden Menschen, dem monströsen Maschinenfuhrpark wie beim Militär, mit dem ganzen Hierarchie- und Privilegien-Scheiß, den Umhänge-Ausweisen und Ordensverleihungen, das wäre ein echter Albtraum für mich.

Und deswegen steht der Baum halt nicht künstlerisch einsam in der Gegend, sondern ist umzingelt von Scheiß, der das Photo kaputtmacht. So ist sie halt, meine Welt. Photos für die Wirklichkeit, Zeichnen für die Phantasie.

Wenn’s nicht immer so viel wäre, hätte ich auch zum Trudelturm noch was zu sagen, der die neueste Platte von Rammstein ziert. Die Rammsteins sind so mächtig, daß sogar die Mietskasernen und der ganze Verhau verschwunden sind, die meine Photos von dem Turm immer verunstaltet haben. :-)

Wird aber auch "Zeit" Rammstein kündigen neues Album an 11.03.2022, 10:37 Uhr Zehn Jahre sind zwischen den beiden bis dato letzten Rammstein-Alben vergangen. So lange wollen Till Lindemann und Co die Fans diesmal nicht warten lassen. Und so kündigen sie nun nach nicht mal drei Jahren auch schon die Veröffentlichung eines neuen Longplayers an. Der Titel: "Zeit". Rammstein melden sich nach vergleichsweise kurzer Schaffenspause wieder zurück: Das neue Album "Zeit" wird am 29. April 2022 erscheinen. Wie schon länger gemunkelt worden war, ist der achte Longplayer der Band in den La-Fabrique-Studios in Frankreich entstanden. Zwei Jahre hat die Band laut Mitteilung an den elf neuen Songs gearbeitet. Insgesamt wird es drei Versionen von "Zeit" geben: Standard-CD, Special Edition CD und Doppel-Vinyl-LP. Der Titelsong ist bereits jetzt verfügbar. Darin singt Frontmann Till Lindemann zu Klaviertönen und einem Chor über das flüchtige Glück des perfekten Moments. Rammstein als Geburtshelfer Auch das Video zur ungewohnt melancholischen Single feierte an diesem Donnerstag Premiere. Wenngleich es diesmal ziemlich poetisch ausfällt, wartet es auch mit mindestens einer umstrittenen Szene auf. So sieht man die Rammstein-Musiker unter anderem dabei, wie sie sich als Geburtshelfer betätigen - in Nahaufnahme. Das Cover-Bild des Albums stammt von keinem Geringeren als dem kanadischen Sänger Bryan Adams, der die Fotografie zu seinem zweiten Standbein gemacht hat. Der 62-Jährige fotografierte die Band auf der Treppe des Trudelturms in Berlin-Adlershof, einem Denkmal der Luftforschung. Demnächst auf Tour Auch die B-Seiten versprechen ein besonderes musikalisches Erlebnis: Diese wurden größtenteils vom Grammy-nominierten, isländischen Neo-Klassik-Künstler Ólafur Arnalds bearbeitet und sollen "meditativ-atmosphärisch" klingen. Mit "Zeit" legen Rammstein nach nicht einmal drei Jahren wieder ein neues Album vor. Der unbetitelte Vorgänger war im Mai 2019 erschienen. Zuvor waren zehn Jahre vergangen, in denen die Band nach ihrem Werk "Liebe ist für alle da" aus dem Jahr 2009 kein Album eingespielt hatte. Im Frühjahr und Sommer 2022 soll es für Rammstein zudem wieder auf die großen Bühnen gehen: Von Mai bis Oktober ist eine Tournee mit über 40 Konzerten in Europa und Nordamerika geplant.
