it's wild thinking about how it's been a whole decade since i actually got into/discovered fragile dreams and it still sits as a game pretty important to me because of how much it inspired me to write

i won't say it's the best game ever. there's moments where the game itself lulls while you're exploring the empty post apocalyptic world. sometimes you'll find yourself wandering without any other music but the sounds of your footsteps, drifting aimlessly through the area, but i think that's what makes discovering the memory items even more endearing. in the empty world where you are a lone survivor, you try and seek out the contact of another human, but all you have are the memories left behind by one

memory items are probably my fave/best thing in fragile dreams, but that could also be because that specific thing is what inspired me to get back into writing. all these little mundane items, yet they each hold a lot of sentiment - a lot of story to them. the ones that were part of a series is honestly really nice when you think about the connections between each human individuals.

if the glass cage project's goal was to bind everyone together, it was pointless because there have always been connections between humans. just not ones as explicit as being able to read another person's thoughts and feelings. it was in the little mundane items. it was in the little moments shared between each other.

Your recent post about post-PH AU stuff got me curious: why would Linebeck not like Tetra? Is it something specific to the continuity with hum!Bellum or more of a common thread present across several/all your takes on Linebeck? It's an interesting idea that somehow never crossed my mind as a possibility, and iirc you haven't talked about it before, too.

i think it mostly boils down to him not taking kindly to having to interact with another captain, especially not one who used to have link on her crew and might encroach on his authority when the two crews work together. it's really just the most relevent to post-ph with bellum present, and bellum doesn't actually have too much of an influence on the way linebeck feels about her (bellum is the one who really hates her, he's a liiiiittle pissy that he never got to take all of her life force, and he never really spends the time with her to... not hate her at least a little).

i think there is a slightly through line between my aus of linebeck and tetra not being on good terms??? tetra isn't present in a ton of aus (usually not included if there's a big focus on just zelda), but i think in the ones where she does, their paths don't cross often. i know she's in the space au and the crimson king au, and i think linebeck has more or less the same feelings abt her (being that she's a little annoying but ultimately no someone he really pays attention to until she's actively causing problems or something) tetra tends to be more important with whatever link's got going on in aus. most of the time i just think linebeck and tetra generally aren't on good terms.

otherwise they just dont get along in my mind as captains who probably step on each other's feet a lot and maybe dont like each others crew much (i dont really think linebeck would be toooo fond of her crew either, and tetra is def going to feel some kind of animosity towards bellum even if he doesnt come clean abt his identity to her) and operate too differently

ADHD money/budgeting system I'm currently using for my benefit is going well (I've been using it for like half a year now?), and I wanna recommend it.

You Need a Budget is EXCELLENT. 10/10 do recommend. Uhhh rambling about it and my generic disclaimers + gushing extensively under the cut but TL;DR I think it's great for ADHD ppl, I've used it for 6+ months now and I find it super SUPER helpful. also weirdly fun.

This is NOT a magic trick solution. Just like everything else, it is an assistive tool. This is one of those adult things we can't simply opt out of without negative consequences, though.

My advice is based on something I am currently able to do. That is, I can spend an amount of money on this specific thing that works well for me. If you have no extra money to spend then previously I was tracking things in a notebook. So you can still do this.

They only have 4 rules of the budget, they're simple and practical, and it doesn't get judgey or like...mean about your spending.

1. Give every dollar a job 2. Embrace your true expenses 3. Roll with the punches 4. Age your money.

THEN THEY BREAK THESE DOWN INTO SMALL STEPS FOR YOU! They even have a printable! Also these rules are great because there's built in expectations that things WILL HAPPEN and it's NOT all or nothing with a fear of total collapse into failure. Reality and The Plan don't always align, especially if you have ADHD. So it's directing our energy towards the true expenses and not clinging to The Plan!! over reality.

You can automate a lot of shit (you can sync with your bank accounts just like mint, but also automate tagging the categories of regular expenses/transactions). And if for whatever reason you accidentally do something that makes the budget look weird or wrong:

A) you can usually fix it somehow OR b) they have like, a button you can press that gives you a clean slate and archives the previous version of the budget for you.

So if you forget for a few weeks or months, or accidentally input something wildly wrong, or just don't want to look at a really terrible month anymore and feel like you need a fresh start you can usually either fix it or start fresh which is really nice.

The app also (for whatever reason) scratches my itch to have things like...have incentives or little game-like goals in a way mint never did? I don't know why. Filling up the bars or putting money into the categories to cover my expenses is satisfying lmao. You can also make a big wish expense category for all the fun shit you want, and fund it whenever you can and then you can see the little bar go up and that's fun.

Anyways I've been using it for like 6+ months now and I think it's really helped me when I use it.

I will say, though, that sometimes you try to talk yourself out of your feelings for a long time and then you talk to someone outside of the situation and they're like "what the fuck" and you're like OH okay I have a right to feel weird and bad and stressed out.

I guess it's easy to feel stupid because you actually are affected when people are actively trying to affect you, especially when it's something like writing on the internet, which is just... always going to get harassment. Like when I say I've gotten messages about how people like me should be euthanized in the past over tumblr posts. :')

So you're like "oh, random shitty people is just something that everyone deals with, I should shut up and stop being a baby about it" and then you actually show the messages you're getting to someone and they're like ???? what????

Like I shared my inbox with my hairstylist when we were chatting a few days ago, and he was like ???? This man is not in fandom, so when he saw the kind of shit I was getting over not liking a finale of a tv show, he was shocked. Which... was kind of gratifying. It made me feel less crazy. lmao

Kind of reminds me of when I wrote this really personal essay about disability a few years ago and it won a contest. The people running the contest gave me uhhh quite a bit of money and asked me to keep writing for their site for more money. Like when I tell you I was literally on IRL conference calls with these people asking me why I stopped writing for them.

And I was finally like "...well, there's this feature on your site where you can tag other users in your essays, and after I won people kept writing their own essays about how much I didn't deserve to win, about how "lucky" I was to have a sob story that was attractive to the judges, about how whiny I was, people questioning my disability, etc. And since they tagged me, this was filling my email inbox and it really stressed me out. But if you look at the actual comments on the story, you don't see any of that. So it was kind of invisible harassment."

And the rep was horrified. She had never even considered that someone might use the feature like that. She was like WE'LL INVESTIGATE THIS and I was like. sure, okay. But getting that taste of the spotlight was already enough to make me peace out for good, tbh. Even though I knew that a lot of it was just sour grapes because they wanted to win themselves, and I knew that a lot of what they were saying wasn't valid, the sheer force of the animosity against me was overwhelming.

Like... it's not a crime to have your feelings hurt when someone is actively trying to hurt your feelings. It's natural, I guess, even if you feel kind of stupid about it.

I guess it's kind of wild to me that we just take it for granted that anyone who speaks up is gonna get yelled at online. Any prominent writer or activist you see is probably getting daily cruelty, if not outright death threats. And you just -- you have to have such a certain temperament to deal with all that. And I don't have it. I get easily overwhelmed and stressed when people are mad at me and I know it's not ideal but it is who I am. I joke about it, but I really kind of do feel like a small nervous dog sometimes.

And I wonder, sometimes, how many great voices we never hear from because of this expectation of harassment. Someone says something, gets some shitty trolly comment, then goes back in their hole and never talks again. Or they see the way other people get treated and they never speak up in the first place.

idk, I don't mean to be a martyr about this and I'm sure other people are getting the kinds of messages I am but like. God, it is so weird and disheartening to realize that a few people have been sending you nasty messages for literally months when you block an anon from your inbox and you see what else disappears. There are people who are so mad at me that they've sent me angry messages for months. Because I don't have the same opinions they do about a tv show.

It kind of makes you want to never talk about anything ever again. :(

Hey thanks for the question, I didn't even know people actually read my tags so.. Wow!

To begin this LONG spiral, I'll start with blossom.

When I was redesigning blossom, she was originally going to be white since I wanted her to be the most recognizable...but that decision changed when I realized that everyone (except boomer and bubbles) have different ethnicities and or races. I thought it would be fun to actually be creative and try something unique, you know? I mean, I'm black and I would love to see a black ppg leader and junk. Plus I really wanted to show that anyone race can fit into being a perfect little boy or girl.

Fun fact: since I made her black, I gave her a little bit of a reder skin tone (like brick) since not only can it make her colors pop but it can also make her design even more unique.

Another thing that inspired me to make blossom black was @/racketballz art if her!! You should go check it out it's really nice <33

Now let's get to brick.

I made brick mixed [mixed w/ native american and Hispanic descent] since I feel like it would really fit him! Plus I love to hc that when he's furious he just starts swearing like a sailor in Spanish.

Also, I decided to give the rrb horns for when they use their powers. I felt like it would be cool since they did regain their powers from him so I thought it would make sense for them to have some demon like features. (for example, their claws).

Now, let's talk about butters and butch since they'll be the easiest to talk about (besides bubbles)

I decided to make buttercup Asian (specially southeast Asian) since I just REALLY felt like it not only matched her design but I also thought it would be cool to have a lot more diversity in the main cast.

Another is that it wasn't really hard creating her design 🧚‍♀️✨

Ok, now for Butch.

For butch, decided to make him Native Hawaiian. As for his design, uhhh tbh idk. I gave him goggles since I love the hc that he loves to blow up stuff so in the process he decided to learn how to make bombs from brick (which later on becomes his job since brick literally pretty much does everything else for their team). And idk.... I just tried to make him look as chaotic as possible.

I am; my first (and last) name are from my great-grandmother (dad's side) & my middle name is from my mom's great-grandmother (yeah, that old) thx god both had timeless names, it could've gone either way w those generations, lol

uhhh, I think 2 months ago (happy tears!) I'm really not prone to crying (hashtag internalize it (this is not a brag and u should not do that, I do that, but you should .... not))

I did horseback riding for twelve years, figure skating for eight; apart from that I've played some tennis (alas I was 2 poor 2 continue, once my friend broke up w the tennis coach she was seeing, who at the time gave us discounted lessons lol) that's it. I've been steeped in & deeply invested in football (soccer & american), hockey & other sh*t since I was a kid, but I could never be a team sports player (bc social anxiety & a hit of that autism lol)

ugh way 2 much; mostly everything except what they're actually saying, I tend to forget that whilst cataloguing exactly everything else. which is a problem ......

I've had 3 dream jobs - currently I want to work w something as far away from my dream job as possible; if I get paid by a corporation to do it, I don't wanna do anything dream like. I wanna work w my dreams on my own time. so idk, lol, a 9-5 that requires minimum creative input & critical thought - that I'd save for after work

as a fellow sevenmancer, what is your opinion on soft violence so far 👀

Since seven is on the forefront of my mind right now for letter reasons imma finally answer this lolol and i’m gonna tag @777greywolf bc they asked me about this for ocs for this as well and i can’t talk in short paragraphs SJSJSJ as you will see under this cut

Personally i love soft violence and i’m excited for the drama and the shenanigans!! i like that they don’t like mc and give them a hard time (it’ll make the friendship more satisfying tbh when they realize their judgements were unfair lmaoooo) I also just love characters that are loyal like that?? like regardless of how seven retold events whether they were biased or not their friends have their back and try to make sev feel comfy and happy!! idk i just can’t wait to get to be friends with them in game lolol

As for my MC Octavia uhhh if say they’re cautious?? As a knee jerk reaction Octavia wants to stay away from all of them like “those are sevens bandmates and i should just treat them as extensions of seven” basically. Rather than as individuals which Octavia will have a hard time doing. Unlike Sev, Octavia is a very honest person and has a hard time holding grudges in general esp if they people haven’t done anything personally to them. So while Octavia may participate in some passive aggressive and aggressive aggressive behaviors toward them in the beginning lmaooo it won’t last very long. Octavia is a very give what you get person most of the time, but being hostile is exhausting. Looking for offense in every word and action just isn’t in Octavia like that, and they just joke a lot and idk they’re just pretty affable. Unless Soft Violence was 100% bent on making Octavia hate them 100% of the time they’re around her Octavia could never maintain that kind of mindset lol.

TLDR: Octavia’s first impressions is: absolutely not. but like give it a week or two and they’re just gonna be like “oh are we still like doin that mean thing to each other? ok.”

Abel and Chrissy though. They are in the infamous universe but they don’t have a relationship to seven they’re octavia’s friends they made post breakup so basically they are to seven as soft violence is to octavia lolol. Basically Abel is very loyal to a fault he’s very “the enemy of my friend is my enemy.” and it’s very hard to undo his opinion once it’s made and then chrissy is also kinda like abel?? but less extreme. Basically chrissy is chill and cordial but wary and Does Not Forget. Very “Chrissy will remember this” SJSJJSJA So Abel is very much “fuck SV all my homies hate SV (they don’t he’s just dedicated)” and Chrissy is smiling! Chrissy is chill! But she’s also watching 🙂. Closely.

i thiiink i have a license for clip studio paint that came with my old wacom tablet but i never rly used it. also used to have krita installed for the longest time but just always felt off to me idk why. don't currently have it installed anymore tho

2. Is it easier to draw someone facing left or right (or forward even)

to their right is a bit easier i think. not smth i consciously notice, mostly i'm just thinking abt when im doodling on the margins of stuff they usually are looking to the left of the page

3. What ideas come from when you were little

uhhh idk tbh, i dont think much of my art draws from that

4. Fav character/subject that's a bitch to draw

cityscapes !!! i love cities they r so pretty and cool looking but goddamn theyre so hard to draw

80-20? i post everything that i finish. basically the only stuff that doesnt get posted is sketches i give up on

i rly like the cj comic i did i am genuinely so goddamn happy with the result so . even tho it did very well by the standards for the fandom its for and my current follower base it is underrated
