I'M SO HAPPY TO SAY THAT WE'RE OFFICIALLY OPEN FOR INTERACTIONS ! because we're starting on a weekday, there is no rush to begin interacting — our first plot drop will not be until this weekend, so take this time to settle in and integrate yourselves and your characters into the roleplay. interactions can take place either on the dashboard or the discord depending on your preference. if you're roleplaying in the discord, tupperbox is encouraged but not required ( see our discord server for guides on how to set up your tuppers, but if there's any confusion, do not hesitate to just ask! ) resources may be used in discord interactions as well if that is your preference. please be sure that you're following all the blogs on the blogroll and tracking all of our tracked tags; for open starters and introductions posted on the dash, there are channels to link them as well since tracked tags can be finicky, so please be sure to utilize them as well. whether you are on discord or the dashboard, i do ask that you timestamp your interactions accordingly. for the most part, our timestamp matches real time ( aside from the year, which is 2028 in-game ). so for example, the timestamp is currently march 6, 2028 in-game, and tomorrow, it will be march 7, 2028. during events and plot drops, we will most likely slow the timestamp down to allow for more time, but in general, our timestamp matches real time. that being said, we do allow flashbacks so long as the characters in the thread will still be 21+ during the flashback; if your interaction is a flashback, please be sure to timestamp the date accordingly.

it is about five months into the war, and things have been progressing at an alarming rate. at this point in time, the death eaters appear to be winning the war, mostly due to the fact they've been preparing for this for years now and the order of the phoenix is still rebuilding. however, the tides could turn at any moment.

hermione granger has been acting as interim minister for magic for the past few months, but the election for the new minister for magic is just around on the corner. the death eaters hope to gain control of the ministry soon, whereas the order of the phoenix is desperately trying to keep this from happening.

[AN PART OF A LARGER WRITING WHICH ADMIN HERE IS WORKING ON FOR YOU ALL TO READ]

Knowledge [επιστήμη - scientia] has grown from being a mere part of the being we are into the totality of our being. With the French crowing Reason above all else the chain of what is has be unhooked from Gods - rather we have become unhallowed [entgötterung] by the French - & have been enframed as both the height & bottomlessness of all that is. What is it that has made us the sustainer of all beings? By the fact that we know [επιστήμη - scientia] that we may or may not see [θεωρία - reor/ratio] what is before us makes us the flooring height & peak bottomlessness of all that is.

"Human life is exhausted from serving as the head of, or the reason for, the universe. To the extent that is becomes this head & this reason, to the extent that it becomes necessary to the universe, it accepts servitude. If it is not free, existence becomes empty or neutral &, if it is free, it is in play. The Earth, as long as it only gave rise to cataclysms, trees, & birds, was a free universe; the fascination of freedom was tarnished when the earth produced a being who demanded necessity as a law above the universe. Knowledge, rather "Science" as we have hallowed our own innerworkings in modernity, is what we cling to. It is that which we are these days - all about the manyfold worlds on earth run lesser & greater Scientists. Yet it is bringing us to nothing less than an ever soaring bottomlessness which we are continually climbing ourselves out of. We are tiring of being the Head of all that is - growing misery showcases this everytime we attempt to challenge forth what we see before us into a standing reserve of workfullness [ενέργεια/όργια, "Energy"] for The Gigantic.

"The 'man deprived by the fear of the need to be man' has placed his greatest hopes in science. He has renounced the character of totality that his acts had as long as he wanted to live his destiny. For the act of science must be autonomous & the scientist excludes all human interests external to the desire for knowledge. A man who bears the burden of science has exchanged human destiny's concern for living with a concern for the discovery of truth. He passes from the totality to a part, & serving this part demands that the other parts no longer count. Science is a function that developed only after occupying the place of destiny that it was to have served. For it could do nothing as long as it served.

It is a paradox that a function could only be fulfilled on condition that it become an end in itself.

The totality of sciences that a man has at his disposal is due to this sort of fraud. But if it is true that the human domain has increased because of it, it has been at the cost of a crippled existence."

The way here that Bataille cripples the modern notion of Science reminds me of a few passages one find in "The Question Concerning Technology & Other Essays". A theme that connects both the erotic-poetry of Bataille & the onto-poetry of Heidegger is that they un-veil [αλήθεια] the modern sort of Science so to better pursue a more rooted sort of Knowledge [επιστήμη - scientia].

"We shall limit the question to the phenomenon mentioned first, to science [Wissenschaft].

In what does the essence of modern science lie?

What understanding if what is & of truth provides the basis for that essence? If we succeeded in reaching the metaphysical ground that provides the foundation for modern science as a modern phenomenon, then the entire essence of the modern age will have to let itself be apprehended from out of that ground.

When we use the word 'science' today, it means something essentially different from the 'doctrina' & 'scientia' of the Middle Ages, & also from the Greek 'episteme'. Greek science was never exact, precisely because, in keeping with its essence, it would not be exact & did not need to be exact. Hence it makes no sense whatsoever to suppose that modern science is more exact than that of antiquity. Neither can we say that the Galilean doctrine of free falling bodies is true & that Aristotle's teaching, that light bodies travel upward, is false; for the Greek understanding of the essence of body & place & of the relation between the two rests upon a different interpretation of beings & hence conditions a correspondingly different kind of seeing & questioning of natural events. No one would presume to maintain that Shakespeare's poetry is more advanced than that of Aeschylus. It is still more impossible to say that the modern understanding of whatever is, is more correct than that of the Greeks. Therefore, if we want to grasp the essence of modern science, we must first free ourselves from the habit of comparing the new science with the old solely in terms of degree, from the point of progress."

In making ourselves the Head of all that is we now look down not only on what is around us in our everydayness but have nerve to rootlessly besmirch that which was before us. Yet we have barely scratched the beginning of all - how dare we declare that we are woth every passing now as the "End" of all that is? Anyone can write down ξυνον αρχη και πέρας yet they still will besmirch Heraklitos aftef claiming to have understood the depth of his sayings - they only can stand under him in the Hall of Knowledge. Such is the illiteracy of the weighty, ill begotten, nothingness of the children Lady Reason. Men will dig pounds of dirt for ounces of gold - but we are seeing the only gold in her well penetrated cavern is the yellow-strainer.
