THE MANNEQUINS OF THE STARS
I have always been fascinated by mannequins, especially those with the patina of time, historicized. It is art in its own right, solid holograms as mirrors of societies and mores. Today I present some mannequins from the historical catalog of La Rosa atelier, a famous Italian brand that has been making beautiful mannequins since the 1920s.
One of the characteristics of the house has always been to be inspired by the movie stars of the time. The first 4 photos are from the 1940s collections: I see Veronica Lake, Lauren Bacall, Errol Flynn and Nuto Navarrini.
The other 4 photos are from the 1930s collections. See how the style, hairstyles and the very expression of the faces change. And you have not seen the 1960s and 1970s.

personal style inspired by film noir
Film noir is mostly known for it’s two achetypes — femme fatale, and to a lesser degree, the girl next door. Inspired in 40’s and 50’s, it’s style is made of sharp lines, silky and form-fitting pieces. Alluring, mysterious and always moving with elegance and determination, everyone knows of the femme fatale. I picture a beautiful girl wrapped in long coat, dark sunglasses and stiletto heels, and a sillage of lovely perfume worn on her wrist like a sparkly bracelet.
The silhouette is cut by two horizontal lines, enhancing the waist and the shoulders. It’s usually done by high waisted pants/skirts, and dresses that are tied, wrapped, cinched or cut at the waist. The neckline is either in a sleeveless sweetheart type of style to show off the shoulders, or in a closed/v shape necklines with padded shoulders, creating that sharp line across them. Also seen in more casual type of outfits are long flowy wide-leg pants, or suits. They can also be made out of softer materials to give a sultry touch to the look, rather than androgynous one. This style is more monochromatic and minimalistic in it's colours, patters and layers, but it's always feminine and luxurious, accessorized with elegant details. Some of the go-to pieces are – silk or sheer blouses, balloon sleeves, peep-toe heels, velvet pieces, furr, structured/trench coats, diamond jewelry, long form-fitted/slit dresses, high-wasted pants and suits, sheer hosiery, dark sunglasses, hats/veils, gloves. Actresses to find inspiration from – Gene Tierney, Lauren Bacall, Ava Gardner, Veronica Lake, Rita Hayworth, Barbara Stanwyck

colours – since it was filmed in black and white, the colours had to be bold and with a lot of contrast. deep colours, mostly different shades of black, white, red, green
hairstyle – side parted, lots of volume, with sleek continuous waves framing the face, today known as the hollywood waves
makeup – defined sharp brows, long lashes with minimal eye makeup, lined lips and red lipstick
film noir outfit inspiration

sultry, red lips, enhanced waist, silky dresses, elegant, alluring, sharp lines, wavy hair

Riverdale 7x20 (Jeronica)
So... we all understand that when Narrator Jughead says "I always loved this theater" that's a euphemism for Veronica, right? Like, there's a reason why her silhouette is not only standing behind him, but it's the only time when Betty and Jughead are discussing a character in past tense and they are essentially right fucking there. The movie poster behind Betty is for "The Big Sleep" which is Humphrey Bogart as Philip Marlowe and Lauren Bacall - "Nice Hat, Bacall".
Every time I rewatch that clip there's something else I catch. Everyone is like "She produced three of his comics!". No. She produced FOUR "The Comet" movies, which means that she produced at least four of his story adaptations. He details that she became known as having "impeccable taste" and produced "some of the most iconic films of our time". If The Comet got four movies, then that not only shows how prolific of a storyteller Jughead was, but also that they spent a significant amount of their lives together.
Name a more powerful Hollywood couple than a studio president and a publishing mogul. I'll wait...
I guarantee, somewhere on each of those posters is a version of Jughead's name.

RAS just called Jughead and Veronica the Arthur Miller and Marilyn Monroe of Riverdale. And I’m not sure what to think. They were a couple. He was a playwright and obviously she was a starlet. He made her the star of his movie. They ended up divorcing though.
Remember when the show had Jughead calling Veronica “Bacall” and he was clearly Humphrey Bogart?

Finale rant
So.. all the times Betty is standing next to Veronica or around Veronica are we assuming she was with Jughead in the real yearbook ending?
Because it was a day Betty wasn't there, Veronica would have said hey to Archie and greeted Jughead at the entrance of the school, walked through school with him, starting to act off.
She would be alone thinking about leaving Riverdale, she would still be standing with Jughead at Cheryl's party and end up alone with Archie and him, have to deal with Archie looking upset and trying to console Jughead by herself who looks like she completely burnt him?? Would they have gone their separate ways or gone in the car to the party still? When she's sitting beside betty would jughead have had also been with her, or would their be an empty seat because he's upset and trying to distance himself after Veronica said "they knew it would end"
I need answers, like did Veronica and Jughead share a moment where they tell each other they could end up together or do they stay together.
What does "angel jughead" mean when he says he "always love this theatre" that veronica brought back. Or when he pulls the seat up in the cinema showing his crown mentioning making out and gum. It shows veronica in the background. The regretful and sad looks he gets outside the theatre with the Bacall and Bogart poster, or the sad pained looks he gets when he sees the talk happening and practically pushes Betty in it to "soften the blow" What about the fact she practically thrives off his comics being brought to the big screen and him still using her as inspiration.
WHAT DOES IT MEAAAN

35, 37, and 42 for your courier harriet? :)
35. what do their companions think of them? are they close? have they done any companion quests?
Arcade is kind of wary of Harriet? They get along well enough and she's intelligent enough to hold a decent conversation with him but I think their ideals for an independent New Vegas don't exactly match up as Harriet's motivations are a lot more selfish. She encourages him to put his father's Enclave past behind him and stay with the Followers and help the people of Freeside.
Boone and Harriet get along but mostly because they don't really talk to each other and are pretty happy to exist in a comfortable silence. He's the companion she trusts most in a fight and while there's nothing romantic between the two of them at all I like to think Harriet reminds Boone of Carla a little.
Cass and Harriet get along like a house on fire. Again they're both NCR, and Harriet understands Cass's want to come out and make a name for herself and they have a great time making bad moonshine, teasing troopers and shooting the shit. Harriet is more level headed than Cass is, so she encourages her to let the NCR courts deal with Gloria and Alice so she can save face, though deep down I think Harriet would have liked to have dealt with them both in a more violent way.
ED-E is Harriet's favourite little guy; he was the first companion she came across so she's spent the most time with him. She came to rely on him a lot for spotting enemies. She gets very defensive of him when people (including Arcade) comment negatively, and even though it wasn't the same ED-E, was incredibly devastated when he sacrificed himself to stop the missile launch at the end of Lonesome Road.
Harriet found Lily's history both incredibly sad yet interesting - it's not very often you hear stories from over 100 years prior. The Wasteland is a harsh place so I think Harriet did appreciate Lily's softer demeanour and in return Lily liked having someone she could take care of.
Raul's age and experiences lend him a kind of perceptiveness that the other companions (except Lily) just don't have, by merit of not being 200+ years old. So I think this means he's able to see through Harriet better than the others, and this puts her on edge as she very much likes to control and manufacture how the people around her perceive her. Not that he would ever say anything, she just finds it unsettling but it's very much a Her problem.
Rex doesn't like Harriet because of her hat unfortunately but she doesn't really take it personally... she understands he probably just wants to stay with the King. She does help him get better with Rey's brain, though it's more to gain favour with the King than anything else.
Veronica and Harriet had a rocky start because of the bad blood between the NCR and the Brotherhood. While they worked together for the mutual benefit, I don't think the rivalry/animosity is something they really recover from. Though Harriet does begin to recognise a similarity between herself and Veronica - that they're both willing to put their home/faction behind them if it's unwilling to change the direction it's headed in (NCR's increasingly imperialist policies and Kimball and Oliver's warmongering vs the Brotherhood's unwillingness to adapt and modernise), so Harriet fully encourages Veronica to leave the Brotherhood and instead join the Followers. Of course this ends with disastrous consequences and cements Harriet's bad feelings toward the Brotherhood even more and leaves Veronica adrift.
37. do they draw, paint, play any instruments?
Harriet can play piano (and sing!), though she hasn't done so in a very long time. She doesn't paint exactly, but she does spend some of her downtime drawing and copying from any Old World fashion illustration/patterns that she finds.
42. name a random fact about your courier.
Browning isn't her real surname, she took it and her nickname 'Slim' from Lauren Bacall's character in To Have and Have Not after watching the holotape.

Rewatching The Glass Key and I always forget that Veronica Lake was like 4’11”.
(Which is why she was paired with the 5’6” Alan Ladd so often.)
(I like them together though. They give off a very edgy sexuality. Like if you have rough and the edges but good at heart like Bogart and Bacall on one of the film noir pairings scale, then Ladd and Lake would be at the other end.)

Give me some cute unpopular movey opinions
dark passage is the best bogart/bacall movie (not the big sleep). veronica lake is most compelling to me in comedic roles. as far as hitchcock movies go vertigo is overrated. victor laszlo in casablanca is a cool dude
