I promised, promised myself that I wouldn’t read the Roman König x Fee fic until it was completed because I knew i would get absolutely drawn in, wrapped up in your exquisite prose, then get addicted and suffer from withdrawals. Unneeded to say I broke said promise and welp here I am 🤡
Thing that surprised me was how quickly he endeared himself to me? A cock swinging village massacring brute that I was FULLY prepared to hate had me sighing by then end of chapter 3 with the “you care about my head?” ✋😩 YES I worry for your stupid head you adorable monster.
It’s uncanny how similarly Fee and I felt as the plot progressed. I know this is a self insert and though I made an OC for fee, you were able to capture the feeling of hate to curiousity to distrust to budding emotions on the readers side so beautifully and in only three chapters?? What sorcery is this?? I could go on and on about how I’m just… in awe of your writing skills.
It’s the small things too. The effort he went through to understand Fee, learning her language like he desperately wants to be a part of her. It’s just his delight in the simple things like having a woman and buying her pretty things. I AM GOING TO GNAW OFF MY ARM THIS IS SO GOOD!! I don’t know if you’ve watched HBOs Rome, but they remind me of Pullo and Eirene so much! Like you can’t tell me König doesn’t fit that goofy brawdy soldier who’s only hobbies are drinking and fucking and fighting to a T!
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Then it got me thinking…. If König is Pullo then Simon is Vorenus. He has that straight laced, no bs aura about him. Now I’m imagining them both in this universe and please excuse me while I melt in a puddle 🫠
Tumblr media
This is perhaps the best piece of fiction I’ve read in a while. I can’t wait for part 4, I have no doubt it will be wonderful as usual. Please accept my maladaptive daydream interpretation of Fee (first she was supposed to be a wood nymph, then the earth goddess then a fairy queen?? I’m not sure anymore. There was so much great imagery couldn’t settle on one. Your honor, we lost the plot.)
Tumblr media
Oh my goodness OH MY GOODNESS ❤️❤️❤️
You shower me with praise and I’m over here like aaahh... for me? 🥺❤️
And yes I’ve watched Rome like four times at least! Every time I watch it just gets better, the producers and crew really outdid themselves with all the details in that series. I consider it one of the best TV shows ever made and excuse me but you opened a Pandora’s box here, I'm just so pleased you brought this up...
It took so much time for Pullo to grow on me, I was so frustrated with his character but when he killed Eirene’s man because he was so in love with her and was just like: “Oh there's something in the way of our love? Oh well. *there*, solved.” Gosh I was IN LOVE. I’m sorry, I’m a horrible person, but I fell in love with Pullo right that second. And yeah König is kinda like Pullo in that sense! Eirene wails at the corpse of her ex-lover and Pullo is just like “Um, yeah nasty business but… why are you crying? Oh, oh yeah, oops. But hey, we could be together? Oh, you don’t want me? Damn. How come?” I wanted to shake and kiss him for being so dumb and adorable.
And Ghost is Vorenus YES, you get it 100 %! And the tragic love story of Vorenus & Niobe, oh god, took me about a month to get over it. And Vorenus being under the protection of Mars first and then literally becoming Pluto, the Lord of the Underworld… The mythology nerd in me is swooning over here. The only thing about Vorenus that's slightly König coded to me was when Pullo had to explain to him what a clitoris is, and Vorenus is like “How do you know this about my wife?!?!” and almost kills him :D That’s so so Roman!König.
But AHHH let me squeal about your maladaptive daydream adaption next: she’s the most gorgeous Fee ever, so lovely and feminine and yet, strong and possessing that earthly power in her. I love the color of her dress too!! There’s a lot of earth & water elements linked to Fee so that color (green to turquoise?) is the most perfect combination of earth and sea, while König is more like fire & air, coming from the mountains and slow to anger but when the fire rises, no one is safe...
This was so lovely, thank you so much! I hope you enjoy the rest of the story 🩷💋

Rome x ADOW Crack x i might not be on crack, but my imagination is
(if you havent seen the HBO series Rome, it should still make sense) (but if you havent read the Book of Life, it wont make sense)
(Me, pretending anyone will read this)
Baldwin slumped into his chair, a heavy sigh leaving his lips "Fucking cunt" he hissed rolling his shoulder blade. It made a loud crack as the bone set back into place
"Well" Pullo resisted the urge to die from utter laughter "It could have been worse" he handed Baldwin the bottle of Beaudoux "could of had your ass handed to you by your sister... again" a small chuckle left his lips
Baldwin snarled "I cant stop a fucking Witch you prissy twat. Matthew is a different kettle of spastic fish"
"Oooh careful. Spastic is no longer politically correct" he mocked. That was by far the least offensive thing either of them said or joked about
Heavy, wet and demanding footsteps echoed through the room "are you still pretending as though you cannot best Matthew in combat, Vorenus?" Anthony sounded a mix between displeased and absolutely fuming. He did not see the humour in it, especially not from an esteemed Roman soldier. Despite it being 2000 years since he had commanded the man, he still saw him as a Legate that should have no qualms cutting his disrespectful brother in half.
"You know i cannot. Philippe may be dead but he still gave me orders" he turned his attention to Anthony "And why are you naked, why are you always naked?" he grimmanced
He shrugged "I am a God, why should i not bestow my large gift unto the world?"
Pollo and Baldwin groaned, he often slipped to old habbits reffering to himself as Dionysius. Both wished he would just get over himself already.
He gestured his hands over himself "What? I am but a prime cut of meat"
"Though we are not interested, and i do not want your oily sopping wet ass on my sofa. So dry off and put some fucking clothes on" Baldwin hissed rubbing his sore shoulder.
It was one thing to fight with Matthew and allow him to get the upper hand, but in a Church full of people? Matthew had really pushed the envelope this time. If it were not for Phillippe ordering Baldwin not to retaliate when he is in a rage, he would have chocked him so hard his head fell off. Even at his childrens Christening.
Anthony padded off to his quaters and Pollo laugged as he followed orders like an obedient puppy "Such a good boy" he shouted in a cooing voice "Following daddies orders"
Anthony cursed his soul to damnation as he retreated. Perhaps he would put bird shit in his shoes for good measure
"Behave Pollo, you cant refuse me either" Baldwin smirked. It may have been irresponsible to turn them both but he has ever been greatful he did. Despite the beating Philippe gave him for it, and the life time ban of making anymore sons
"You need my assistance brother you ask it" Pollo gently reminded him, returning to the earlier topic of Benjamin
Baldwin wavered his hands dissmissively "You know you are not allowed to involve yourself in De Clermont business or else Ysabeau will snap you two in half" Another restriction set by Philippe after Baldwin had turned the two soldiers against his orders; they are not to be included in the family, its affairs or family tree.
"How is my grandmother fairing these days" Anthony returned, towel drapped around his waist and perched himself on the chaise lounge "still a fine bit of cunny i assume" he smirked
"thats disgusting" Baldwin grumbled, face contorting at the thought of vagina and Ysabeau in the same sentance
Pollo snorted "Oh what would you do with her anyway? Cry into her bosom Oh how i miss my dear sweet Cleo" his voice changed an octave, impersonating Anthony as he was in Egypt; a whiny, broken man. "Her bald head and massive nose oh how i loved thee"
Baldwins shoulders rocked as he erupted into laughter. No better remedy to family drama then verbally attacking his former commander, tribune, king and all the rest of the titles he assmued so many years ago.
"You jest me though Lucius cannot even step foot in Rome in fear of bumping into Niobe" Anthony had a shit eating grin on his face as he spoke of her, the one nerve Baldwin had
He shuddered, horror flashing over his face at the thought of his estranged wife of two millennia "i have had enough trauma this past week thankyou very much. No need to speak of her"
"I did hear she had taken up with that Venician shit" he smirked, knowing full well that was a lie. He loved stirring the pot, more so to take the attention from speaking of his Cleopatra
Baldwin snarled, pointing a finger in his direction "If i were not nursing an injury id of battered you, son" he squared his eyes though his lips tipped up into a laugh.
He did however put veet into Anthonys lotion that night, and he was the living embodiment of 'human dolphin' for weeks after.

Favorite Male Character: mark antony and his penis
Favorite Female Character: atia and octavia jointly
Least Favorite Character: lol I hated that dude Atia was fucking for a horse or something in the beginning and then they just lingered on him.  Timon?
Favorite Ship: antony x cleopatra 4ever; i did like octavia and agrippa tho
Favorite Friendship: lol they’re fucked up but i did find the vorenus x pullo relationship fascinating
Favorite Quote: “step away from my chair” AND THE ENTIRE WORLD WAS CHANGED
Worst Character Death (if any): ehhhhhhhhhhh there were things I liked about the way they chose to have Cleopatra die but also things I hated
This made me so happy you have no idea Moment: the moment when the camera pans around Octavian and you see everyone in the senate realize how massively they’ve fucked up and nobody challenges him
Saddest Moment: I mean, Vorenus sobbing about Niobe dying was super sad but he sucks.... Atia looking at Antony’s corpse (or effigy?) and realizing that in winning she’s lost everything and created a monster is beautiful and tragic
Favorite Location: ROOOOOOME

I was tagged by @lady-eleanor-vane, thank you! 💜
rules: pick 5 shows, then answer the following questions, don’t cheat. tag 10 (or however many) people.
Bates Motel
Narcos
Rome HBO
Breaking Bad
The Borgias
who is your favorite character in 2?
Narcos: Tata Escobar, I mean I already loved her in S1, but I feel s2 gave more depth to her character, and I loved watching that, and I love her inner conflict between her love for Pablo, and having to think about her children safety. And how brave she is. How that doesn’t mean not feeling afraid, because she is always afraid, but she doesn’t let that paralyse her, she pushes through that fear and tries to protect her family as best she can, and ughh I love my queen so much! I miss her! <3
who is your least favorite character in 1?
Bates Motel: Emma, but then again I don’t like her character in any season.
what is your favorite episode of 4?
Breaking Bad: I’m thinking ep 12, Crawl Space. It’ soooo good it actually feels like a season finale.
what is your favorite season of 5?
The Borgias: I can’t choose, oh my god! lol. Ok probably season 3.
who is your favorite couple in 3?
Rome HBO: of course it’s my historical otp cleopatra x antony. who is your favorite couple in 2?
Narcos: Pablo x Tata, my babies! amor bandido at its finest. I’ll never be over it.
what is your favorite episode of 1?
Bates Motel: this is literally so hard, but I guess I’ll say ep 101 because it really does a great job establishing Norma and Norman relationship, their individual characters, and it sets the tone of the show basically. But I also love ep 205 because there’s some good moments of Vera Farmiga’s amazing acting.
what is your favorite episode of 5?
The Borgias: I can’t choose, sorry djsdjsdjs
what is your favorite season of 2?
Narcos: Season 1 and 2.
how long have you watched 1?
Bates Motel: hm, the show started on 2013, but I only started watching on 2015 I think, and just keep following after that until the last season on 2017, so it’s been 2 years?? since I last watched it. Seems longer bc I really miss this show *cries*
how did you become interested in 3?
Rome HBO: Well, my interest for Ancient Rome came back again a few years ago, and I have always had this show on my list to watch, but never got around to it because the copy I had was bad, but I was able to find another copy, more decent and decided it was time to finally watch it and it was one of the best decisions I ever made djsdjsds.
who is your favorite actor in 4?
Breaking Bad: I don’t actually have a favorite??  They all great, honestly.
which do you prefer, 1, 2, or 5?
Bates Motel, Narcos or The Borgias: Oh my god, why are you doing this to me??? I....love these three shows for different reasons. I don’t prefer one over the other, I’m sorry, but I can’t lol.
which show have you seen more episodes of, 1 or 3?
Rome HBO: because it has only two seasons so it’s easier to watch and rewatch.
if you could be anyone from 4, who would you be?
Breaking Bad: JDSDJSJD is no one an answer here? like....their lives is the defintion of The Struggle™ and I already enough of that in my own live so I’ll pass.
would a crossover between 3 and 4 work?
Breaking Bad and Rome HBO: hmm, I don’t think so? maybe for Walt’s caracter individually? he has the intelligence, ambition and ruthlessness of the many characters on Rome HBO, so maybe it could work out for him, idk.
pair two characters in 1 who would make an unlikely but strangely okay couple?
Bates Motel: Actually we had that, with Emma and Dylan, I never thought about them romantically, and at first I didn’t think it was going to work out, but then they ended up becoming strangely fine. I never care for the ship, but they were ok together, that much is true.
overall, which show has the better storyline, 3 or 5?
Rome HBO or The Borgias: Both have it imo, but I’ll say the Borgias just because I enjoy the overall storyline better. I love Rome, but I think I should say that I only really loved the part that covered the “elite” and their lives. The part that deals with Vorenus and Pullo is one I just didn’t find interesting.
which has the better theme music, 2 or 4?
Narcos or Breaking Bad: No doubt Narcos. Tuyo is a masterpiece and there’s so many good Colombian songs, I listen to them all the time now and it’s a joy. Tagging: @borgialucrezia @elcctra @aphollos @bergmancapa @roseneys and anyone else who wants to :)

Yuletide 2017 Recs, Batch Five
9 Recs for Pitch, Rebecca, Rome, The Secret Garden, Stranger Things, True Grit, Uncanny X-Force
The mysterious magic of the perfect catch, Pitch
[Ginny Baker/Mike Lawson] - Later in life, someone will bother to write her biography and they would say that her truer love had always been baseball. They will almost be right.
the future ain’t what it used to be, Pitch
[Ginny Baker/Mike Lawson] - BREAKING: Mike Lawson, catcher for the San Diego Padres, has been involved in multi-car collision... is all Ginny reads before she's out the door, heart caught in her throat.
by the end of the day, Pitch
[Ginny Baker/Mike Lawson] - Ginny's probably—definitely if the front office has a say—not supposed to have visitors. She gets them anyway.
The Devil Does Not Ride Us Anymore, Rebecca
[Rebecca de Winter/Maxim De Winter/Unnamed Narrator] -  "Canon divergent fic in which the unnamed narrator encounters Rebecca and Maxim while working as a Lady's companion in Monte Carlo. Could a relationship blossom between the three of them?"
Eurydice, Rome
[Titus Pullo/Lucius Vorenus] -  Pullo's seen Vorenus in all sorts of moods - angry (often), tired, frustrated, despairing, even mad. This is something different, though. He's not sure what to call it. Resigned, maybe, or shocked into numbness. It's almost like he's dead inside already, so nothing matters to him now. Pullo feels like he ought to do something, like maybe if he says the right words or does the right thing he can bring him back with him from this Hades of his own mind.
Those Who Know Secret Things, The Secret Garden
[Mary Lennox/Dickon Sowerby] - The older they get, the more complicated the secrets Mary and Colin keep become.
Loneliness, Loneliness (It’s Such A Waste Of Time), Stranger Things
[Jonathan Byers/Nancy Wheeler/Steve Harrington] - Steve looked back at the house. The lights were flickering again. The monster was coming back, Nancy had said. Leave, Nancy had said. Nancy had a gun, and Jonathan that nail bat. They had it covered. They didn’t want Steve around.
What the fuck are you doing? he thought, and then the lights went out and he went back.
Bulletproof, True Grit
"Come now, you cannot spare a half day for an old trailmate?”
“Marshall Cogburn was my trailmate,” Mattie told him. “You were an unfortunate obstacle, Mr. LaBoeuf.”
Triune, Uncanny X-Force
Dear Mom and Pops, Evan began.

Some of my top fave stories
The Courtesan of Lucknow
Novel by Mirza Hadi Ruswa, 1905.
Life Story of a Woman who gets abducted a child as an act of revenge, and sold to a brothel, where she moves on to become a famous courtesan, due to her outstanding intellect, personality and taste.
Time of the Gypsies
Film by Emir Kusturica, 1988.
Le Dernier Chant des Malaterre
Graphic Novel by Francois Bourgeon.
The Pillow Boy of the Lady Onogoro
Novel by Alice Fell.
Quote from Goodreads:
“This “exquisite, exuberant, X-rated” novel (Mirabella), set in feudal Japan, tells the story of a concubine who hires a stable boy to whisper erotic stories from behind a screen while she entertains her master, a samurai general.”
Even if the basic premise of this book doesn’t really work, I still love it so much that I had to include it here.
Definitely in the soulfood department.
Dangerous Liaisons
Les Liaisons dangereuses is a French epistolary novel by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos, first published in four volumes by Durand Neveu from March 23, 1782.
It is the story of the Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont, two rivals (and ex-lovers) who use seduction as a weapon to socially control and exploit others, all the while enjoying their cruel games and boasting about their manipulative talents. It has been claimed to depict the decadence of the French aristocracy shortly before the French Revolution, thereby exposing the perversions of the so-called Ancien Régime. However, it has also been described as an amoral story.
As an epistolary novel, the book is composed entirely of letters written by the various characters to each other. In particular, the letters between Valmont and the Marquise drive the plot, with those of their victims and other characters serving as contrasting figures to give the story its depth.
The Wire
TV series, 2002 - 2008, on black street gangs in Baltimore, cross cut with some police procedural of the cops pursuing them.
May be about to reach its shelf life for being too famous to need introduction.
Les Valseuses
Quoted from Wikipedia, since I am too lazy to write up my own description:
Going Places is a 1974 French erotic comedy-drama film co-written and directed by Bertrand Blier, and based on his own novel. Its original title is Les Valseuses, which translates into English as "the waltzers"[citation needed], a vulgar French slang term for "the testicles".[2] It stars Miou-Miou, Gérard Depardieu and Patrick Dewaere.
It is widely considered one of the most controversial movies in French cinema history due to its vulgarity, depiction of sexual acts, nudity, and moral ambiguity; however, Blier's later acclaim for the rest of his filmography made it a cult film for modern critics.
Jean-Claude and Pierrot are young men who travel around France, committing petty crimes and running from the law. After they get in trouble with a hairdresser in Valence for stealing his car, they grab his pistol and kidnap his assistant Marie-Ange, an apathetic girl. When they are bored with unorgasmic Marie-Ange, they decide to find a passionate woman and meet Jeanne Pirolle, a woman in her forties who is just released from prison and had spent ten years in a cell. After a threesome, Jeanne commits suicide and the men return to Marie-Ange. They find Jeanne's son Jacques who had been incarcerated as well. Then, the four consider founding a crime family but at their first crime, an attempted robbery, Jacques commits a revenge killing and the others flee. While on the run, they meet a family having a picnic near Col d'Izoard and the delinquent teenage daughter Jacqueline wants to join them. They take Jacqueline and on learning that she is still a virgin, they decide to deflower her. After dropping Jacqueline, the three ride away aimlessly.
Breaking Bad
Too famous to need introduction for the next 10 years or so.
Der Seewolf
One of the classic 4 part adventure series, that would traditionally be broadcast in Germany around Christmas time. First broadcast in 1971, and then literally for decades after that.
Based on a number of different Jack London novels and short stories, that originally had no connection with each other.
Story of a young man from a well off family, who gets shiprecked, and then taken on board by a whaler ship, ruled by a ruthless, self made captain, who refuses to get him to land, and kind of treats him at his whim, sometimes tormenting him, sometimes using him to have conversations with.
Spirited Away
Too famous to need introduction for the next 10 years or so.
Lolita
Too famous to need introduction for the next 100 years or so, but, just in case:
1955 novel by Vladimir Nabokov
Quoted from Wikipedia:
The novel is notable for its controversial subject: the protagonist and unreliable narrator, a middle-aged literature professor under the pseudonym Humbert Humbert is obsessed with a 12-year-old girl, Dolores Haze, with whom he becomes sexually involved after he becomes her stepfather.
Bad Company
Quoted from Wikipedia, since I am too lazy to write up my own description:
″1972 American Western film directed by Robert Benton, who also co-wrote the film with David Newman. It stars Barry Brown and Jeff Bridges as two of a group of young men who flee the draft during the American Civil War to seek their fortune and freedom on the unforgiving American frontier.[1]
This acid western attempts in many ways to demythologize the American West in its portrayal of young men forced by circumstance and drawn by romanticized accounts to forge new lives for themselves on the wrong side of the law. Their initial eagerness to be outlaws soon abates, however, when the boys are confronted with the realities of preying on others in a nation ravaged by war and exploitation.”
Pinocchio
German language children’s tv series, animated in Japan, first broadcast in 1976, and then contiuously broadcast for many years after, due to its huge popularity.
Based on the original Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi, while introducing considerable changes.
For some reason or other, I only ever watched this when I was already in my 20s. Still loved it.
Riget
TV series by Lars von Trier.
Kind of his version of David Lynch’s “Twin Peaks”, if you will.
Set in a hospital, and combining elements of atmospheric eerie / spooky story, comedy, and soap opera.
The Kingdom (Danish title: Riget) is an eight-episode Danish television mini-series, created by Lars von Trier in 1994, and co-directed by Lars von Trier and Morten Arnfred.
The series is set in the neurosurgical ward of Copenhagen's Rigshospitalet, the city and country's main hospital, nicknamed "Riget". "Riget" means "the realm" or "the kingdom", and leads one to think of "dødsriget", the realm of the dead. The show follows a number of characters, both staff and patients, as they encounter bizarre phenomena, both human and supernatural. The show is notable for its wry humor, its muted sepia colour scheme, and the appearance of a chorus of dishwashers with Down Syndrome who discuss in intimate detail the strange occurrences in the hospital.
Cowboy Bebop
Probably too famous to need introduction for the next 10 years or so; but just in case:
1998 Japanese anime television series featuring a production team led by director Shinichirō Watanabe, screenwriter Keiko Nobumoto, character designer Toshihiro Kawamoto, mechanical designer Kimitoshi Yamane, and composer Yoko Kanno. The twenty-six episodes ("sessions") of the series are set in the year 2071, and follow the lives of a bounty hunter crew traveling on their spaceship called Bebop.
Histoire de ma vie
Giacomo Casnova’s Memoirs
Too famous to need introduction for the next 100 years or so.
One of my go to books, when I am seeking distraction. Just arbitrarily opening any of the volumes on any page will almost certainly lead to someting entertaining. Well, most of the time.
Tendres Cousins
Film by David Hamilton
Atmospheric film about those long summer days. The one example that I can think of, where I find the portrait of family life --- well actually more mother and her sister, with the father only visiting once --- enjoyable to watch.
Sort of a “The perfect bourgois childhood” soulfood kind film. (With a fair bit of erotic slapstic thrown in, but oh well.)
Kids
Quoted from Wikipedia:
Kids is a 1995 American independent coming-of-age film written by Harmony Korine and directed by Larry Clark.[4] It stars Chloë Sevigny, Leo Fitzpatrick, Justin Pierce, Rosario Dawson, and Jon Abrahams, all in their film debuts. Kids is centered on a day in the life of a group of teenagers in New York City and their hedonistic behavior towards sex and substance abuse (alcohol and other street drugs) during the height of the AIDS epidemic in the mid-1990s. The film generated a massive controversy upon its release in 1995, and caused much public debate over its artistic merit, even receiving an NC-17 rating from the MPAA
  Some of the comic stories by Hagra, here on tumblr;
“dirty little stories”, betwen gopniki, part time petty criminals and rent boys.
especially this one, this one, this one, this one, this one and this one.

RUNNERS UP
(= just faves, rather than Topfaves)
Shameless (UK), the first 5 seasons
Vikings (2013 tv series)
Rome
2005 tv series
The series primarily chronicles the lives and deeds of the rich, powerful, and historically significant, but also focuses on the lives, fortunes, families, and acquaintances of two common men: Lucius Vorenus and Titus Pullo, fictionalized versions of a pair of Roman soldiers mentioned in Caesar's Commentarii de Bello Gallico.[1] The fictional Vorenus and Pullo manage to witness and often influence many of the historical events presented in the series, although some license is taken.
The first season depicts Julius Caesar's civil war of 49 BC against the traditionalist conservative faction in the Roman Senate (the Optimates), his rise to dictatorship over Rome, and his fall, spanning the time from the end of his Gallic Wars (52 BC or 701 ab urbe condita) until his assassination on 15 March 44 BC (the infamous Ides of March). Against the backdrop of these cataclysmic events, we also see the early years of the young Octavian, who is destined to become Augustus, the first Emperor of Rome. The second season chronicles the power struggle between Octavian and Mark Antony following Caesar's assassination, spanning the period from Caesar's death in 44 BC to the suicide of Antony and Cleopatra in 30 B.C. after their defeat at the Battle of Actium.
Les Innommables
5 volume graphic novel series by Conrad and Yann
Les Innommables ("The Unnameables") is a Franco-Belgian comic series written by Yann le Pennetier and drawn by Didier Conrad. It began publication in serialized form in 1980 in Spirou magazine and was eventually published in album form by Dargaud.[1]
The series recounts the adventures of three U.S. Army deserters – Mac, Tony and Tim – in 1949, as they trek across Asia and search for Alix, who is Mac's lover and a Chinese communist spy. Les Innommables is characterized by its black humor as well as frequent displays of nudity and violence – which eventually ended the series' run in Spirou.
Les passagers du vent
7 book graphic novel series by Francois Bourgeon
Some of the short stories by Charles Bukowsky
Johnny Mad Dog
2008 French/Liberian war film directed by Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire and based on the novel Johnny Chien Méchant (2002) by the Congolese author Emmanuel Dongala.
The teenage rebel Johnny Mad Dog leads the small group of younger boys commanded by the older General Never Die, who feeds them cocaine.[1] The film follows the group's march towards the capital Monrovia, and follows them in a gritty realistic manner as they move through a series of towns and villages, where they terrify and often execute the population. The soldiers are depicted as almost feral, committing acts of pillage and rape, with scant regard for even their own lives. They wear a variety of outlandish outfits – including butterfly wings and a wedding dress – and have nicknames such as No Good Advice, Captain Dust to Dust, and Chicken Hair.
_____
There are almost certainly quite a few more, that I can’t think of right now. I might update the list, if I should remember a super important one.
(Although there is a limit for how long such a list can be, and still be of use.)
I left out most of the light stuff that I love to watch, and tried to only include stuff that kind of works as inspiration for what I would write about myself.
I enjoy rewatching scenes from The Wire, Rome, The Soparnos and Game of Thrones on youtube, typically many many times over. In the very unlikely case I should ever take part of creating a tv series, it would definitely have to be one that produces scenes that people get addicted to rewatching.
