Talk to me about s2 supremacy. Spare no details.
thank you for asking and allowing me to gush 💕
maybe most importantly: it still has that early seasons 2000s vibe with flip phones and tape decks and newspaper articles and wide angle shots and americana and grainy film and desaturated colors and grittiness and loose layered working class clothing and shitty motels and grungy bars and this rough edge to everything
another main point is that it finds the perfect balance between monster of the week episodes and a season-encompassing story/myth arc by generally combining the two when necessary, unlike some of the later seasons
an overarching theme is the morality of hunting and whether or not truly every “monster” is really evil or deserves to die: “what if we killed things that didn't deserve killing?” (bloodlust, the usual suspects, croatoan, hunted, born under a bad sign, roadkill, heart) which plays into my next point
the pacing of the season works really well to set up everything about the season finale: sam's storyline with simon said, croatoan, hunted, born under a bad sign; and dean selling his soul, first through john’s deal with azazel, then with children shouldn't play with dead things (“what's dead should stay dead” / “when someone's gone they should stay gone. you don't mess with that kind of stuff”) and crossroad blues (“i think you did it for yourself. so you wouldn’t have to live without her”) and somewhat in croatoan where he's ready to die with sam
literally every single episode is a certified banger in my opinion. i can only think of 2 episodes that didn’t hit the mark too well for me personally but every other one i could rewatch endlessly, and those two still objectively have merit within the framework of the show/season
i won’t talk about each and every ep, but specifically the entirety of playthings, one of the most, if not THE quintessential, gothic episodes of the show. immaculate vibes.
the usual suspects, which shows how well sam and dean work together without even being in the same room and just how generally Weird they can be to outsiders, as well as continuing the theme of “demons i get / people are crazy” which was first set up in s1
as well as the entirety of what is and what should never be. no further explanation necessary i think.
also sam and dean look really nice
cinematography is on. point. the entire time. these shots alone from 2.09 and 2.04. museum worthy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
sam and dean’s relationship is just. sublime. “we were just starting to be brothers again” (2.01) – “he's the only one who gets to call me [sammy]” (2.03) – “you make a move on him, you'll be dead before you hit the ground” (2.09) – “if i ever turn into something that i'm not you have to kill me” (2.11) – “i can't, i'd rather die” (2.14) – “i thought it was supposed to, to be this perfect fantasy” / “it wasn't” / “we never went hunting and you and me just never, uh... you know” (2.20) – “i had to look out for you. that's my job” / “and what do you think my job is?” (2.22)
without taking the focus off the brothers as its core or feeling suffocating, s2 introduces more recurring supporting characters (bobby... kind of, as a rollover from the s1 finale; jo, ellen, ash, gabriel, victor henriksen, gordon walker) and expands on the monster lore, lending some depth to the spn universe before it begins to really ramp up with heaven and hell etc. from s3 onwards
the music was so good, too, although that’s true for other seasons as well. from ‘bad moon rising’ playing on the radio after the car crash in 2.01 and ending with ‘don’t look back’ in 2.22 and everything inbetween; dean singing along to ‘can’t fight this feeling’ in 2.05, ‘hellhound on my trail’ in 2.08, ‘renegade’ in 2.12, ‘back on the road again’ in 2.14, ‘house of the rising sun’ in 2.16, ‘silent lucidity’ in 2.17, ‘rooster’ in 2.19, ‘americana’ playing during sam’s death etc.
they just... did not hold back in all hell breaks loose part 1. earth shattering.
Tumblr media
season 2 is funny (hollywood babylon, “maybe the spirits are trying to shut down the movie cause they think it sucks”) and heartbreaking (all hell breaks loose) and silly (tall tales) and deep (what is and what should never be) and philosophical (houses of the holy) and tragic (heart) and creepy (croatoan and pretty much all the rest) and intelligent (the usual suspects) and beautiful to me 💛

Tomorrow's promise
Pairing: Shane Walsh × reader, Rick Grimes × sister reader
Warnings: Swearing, mentions of blood and vomit
Chapter: 2.09
As you come around to the sound of a walker growling and Lori’s loud gasps, you scream as pain radiates through your body. Your eyes open, and you see a walker breathing through the cracked windscreen. With the car flipped on its side, you were stuck dangling from the passenger seat. Lori was able to unstrap herself and crawl out of the car.
“Lori, go, get out of here,” you say, gritting your teeth to bite back from screaming.
“No, I’m not leaving you behind.” She manages to reach for a sharp weapon just as the walker breaks through the glass and stabs it in the eye, then she shoots another one in the head.
Tears spill from your eyes as you finally let an agonizing scream leave your mouth when you fully move your body. Lori tries to assess the damage but can’t fully due to the darkness since it is now nightfall. “Where are you hurt?”
“My shoulder—I think it’s bleeding pretty badly.”
“Okay, okay. Let’s not panic; stay calm.”
“I need you to get out again so I can unbuckle myself.”
“I don’t know if that’s a good idea.”
“If a walker comes back, I’m dead, and I don’t want to land on you,” you pant.
When she’s out of the way, you take a deep breath and unbuckle the car belt holding you in. You hit the ground with a thud and let out a string of curses. As you land awkwardly on your feet, the blood pools down your shoulder. Lori helps you get out, pulls the lightweight jacket from the backseat, rips a sleeve off, and then uses it to wrap around your wound. You had no idea how far away from the farm you were, but you guessed you wouldn’t see it again until daylight.
“Wait!” You suddenly turn to Lori and say, “Is the baby okay? Are you hurt?”
“I’m fine, and so is the baby. I’ve only got a few cuts and bruises.”
“You sure?”
She scoffs, “Only you would worry about someone else when your arm is about to fall off.”
You glanced down at your shoulder and noticed the blood soaking through the fabric of your clothing. Feeling nauseated, you turn your head the opposite way and vomit. You always hated the sight of your own blood; it turned your stomach.
Lori rubs at your back. “Come on, we can do this.”
You’re unsure how long you’ve been walking back to the farm when a car approaches your head. “Lily! Lori!”
“Shane!”
He jumps out of the car and rushes over to you. “What the hell happened?”
“The car flipped.” He shines a torch in your eyes, then checks your head for injuries. Quietly, you ask, “Is my brother back yet?”
He shakes his head. Lori was pacing back and forth, full of adrenaline from the crash. Shane opens the passenger seat for you, then the one behind for Lori. You struggle to fasten your seatbelt, feeling as if your shoulder is burning. You grit your teeth. “How are the boys?”
“Jace and Carl are fine,” Shane says, jumping behind the wheel before speeding down the road back towards the farm. “Dale and Andrea are watching over them.”
You let out a deep breath; at least knowing your son and nephew are safe brought you some comfort. God, you felt so stupid for ever leaving the farm.
“And what about Rick?” Lori asks.
“He’s fine; they got back a while ago.”
You didn’t judge him for lying; Lori would have jumped out of the car then and there, trying to get into town to find your brother. If Rick had gotten back to find out his wife and sister were missing, nothing would have stopped him from looking for either of you.
Soon as the car pulls up at the farm, you see most of your group waiting outside, and as expected, your brother, Glenn, and Hershel were nowhere in sight.
Lori steps out of the car and asks, “Where are they? Where’s Rick?”
Shane ignores her question, “Patricia!”
Andrea runs over to the car and asks, “What the hell happened?”
“The car flipped, then walkers tried to attack us,” you say.
Your first thought is to see Jace. The guilt of ever leaving him was weighing heavily on you. Everything seems blurry as different people try to talk to you at the same time. Once in the house, you try to make your way upstairs, but Shane stops you. “Lily, slow down! You need to have that looked at.”
Patricia appears in the hallway and waves for you to follow. In one of the bedrooms, she shakily cleans the deep cut. “What cut it?”
“A branch, I think.”
Patricia was upset but did her best to maintain her composure. She finishes cleaning the blood off your shoulder, then bandages it up. You thank her, then immediately go upstairs to check on Jace.
The next morning, your brother arrived back at camp with Glenn, Hershel, and a kid named Randall. You weren’t entirely sure what happened yet since you hadn’t caught up with Rick yet, but you knew Randall was bad news. Hershel had managed to save the boy, who looked to be around nineteen years old, then looked at your shoulder. He re-cleaned the cut before putting a few stitches in it and patching it up. Hershel then recommends a light course of antibiotics to fight off any infection. Antibiotics were running low on the farm, so taking them made you feel incredibly guilty. Hershel was currently trying to figure out how to help his daughter Beth, who was still in a state of shock.
You noticed Shane was unusually quiet. After placing Jace down, you sit beside Shane on the side of the bed, taking his hand in yours. “What’s on your mind?”
“Nothin.”
“Whatever it is, you can tell me.”
“I’ve just been thinking…” Shane licks at his lips; his gaze remains fixated on the spot in front of him. “A lot of this shit that’s gone down here happened because we put all our time and effort into looking for that little girl that we all knew was never going to come back.”
“Carol didn’t.”
“That’s different; a parent's love is different. We should have known better; Rick should have known.”
You feel like a pit is forming inside your gut. You thought Shane had put blaming your brother behind him, but you were wrong. Sighing, you say, “None of us can predict the future, including my brother.”
“Your shoulder wouldn’t be all fucked up if it wasn’t for him.”
“You can’t seriously blame Rick for that? The crash had nothing to do with him.”
He scoffs at your words. “I know you don’t want to hear it, but Rick ain’t man enough to do what needs to be done.”
“Stop!” You unlink your fingers from his and stand beside the crib. “My brother does what he thinks is best; all he has done is try and protect us.”
“I disagree. You may not like it, but I’m just saying what needs to be said: he’s not cut out for this life. Rick should step aside and let someone else take charge, someone who can make tough decisions.”
Seeing the fierce look on Shane’s face, you can’t help but think about what Dale said to him about pointing a gun at Rick. You desperately hoped that it wasn’t true, but there was a tiny part of doubt seeded in your brain. “I’m going to take Jace for some fresh air.”
“You can’t keep walking away every time you hear something you don’t like.”
“You’re right, I can’t.”
“He’s scaring me, Rick,” you say quietly. “That man out there isn’t Shane; he's... He’s becoming undone.”
“He’ll come back around; I just need to give him time.”
You frown as Rick changes his top; you can see all the bruises and cuts he got while being caught up in the shootout at the bar he found Hershel in. “He killed Otis; he says he had no choice, but I'm not so sure.”
Your brother's eyes glaze over; he remains silent for a moment, looking lost in thought, before eventually answering, “For now, we keep that to ourselves.”
Your frown—this wasn’t an issue that was going to go away. You both loved Shane deeply, and ignoring the things he’d done would only worsen the problem. You needed to figure out a way to get through to Shane before anyone else got hurt. “Rick…hey Lori”
Lori looks between you and Rick as she opens the flaps of the tent to get in. “You guys okay?”
“Yeah, yeah.” You glance at your brother, who’s giving you a pleading look not to say anything. “I’m actually just going back inside; Jace is due a feed, then a nap.”
“Should you be carrying him?” She asks.
You pick Jace up from the blanket he was laying on and say, “It's better than the sling pressing into my shoulder. Besides, I’m only nipping into the house.”
Lori’s brows pull together, but she says nothing else on the matter. In truth, you were in agony, but you didn’t have a choice about carrying your son around.
On the way back to the house, you notice Daryl sitting on the steps to the porch, sharpening his knives. Since Sophia had walked out of the barn, Daryl had been different, like a light in him had gone out. “Can you do me a favor and hold Jace for a minute? My arm is killing me.” You don’t give him a chance to reply and place your sleeping baby in his arms. “Thanks.”
Daryl narrows his eyes. “I guess so.”
You sit down beside him; you had hoped Daryl would hold him. Jace would cheer Daryl up since he was usually happy to see him, but his full facial expression remained the same. You sit in silence until Daryl mumbles, “I didn’t know you had gone; I thought Olive Oyl had left herself.”
“Olive Oyl?”
“Popeye's girlfriend.”
“Oh,” you laugh at him calling Lori that. Daryl chuckles along at first, but quickly his eyes fill with tears, and the laughter stops. “Are you thinking about Sophia?”
“I really thought—I thought she was still alive. She was just a little girl.”
He holds Jace closer to his chest, almost protectively. You lean your head against Daryl’s arm, sitting in a comfortable silence until it’s time to feed Jace.

Did you like Walker Episode 2.09? I enjoyed the confrontation between Cordell and Serano, the fact that Cordell understands that the mysterious witness is Dan, just from Liam's behavior, the car chase was exciting. I was amazed by the death of Serano, it's a pity that they killed him. Serano was a great villain, now I wonder who will be the antagonist, just the Davidsons? And finally Liam seems to be back on track, I loved the scene between him and Dan at the end.
Sure did.  Yeah I was surprised that they already killed off Serano, at least he got to go out looking smug to Cordell.  Now that means they can focus more on the Walker vs Davidson feud; we saw Liam comparing an antique map with a current map of presumingly the Walker and Davidson land and Denise heard Cordell’s private confession on the barn fire.  Even though Liam can’t talk about his client, at least Cordell should be on the same page with Liam since he referred to Dan as “the enemy” to Denise.  Come on, I’m sure the brother Walkers have their own bro code they can use when discussing Dan without the risk of Liam getting disbarred.
Liam and Dan are now strange bedfellows and even more committed to hating each other.  I’m glad Liam suspects Dan of killing Earl to cover up a crime, not to save Liams’s life.  Hopefully Liam can bring Cordell around to this theory now that Cordell knows Dan was the one in possession of evidence against Serano.

Me, for at least a full minute during episode 2.06 and 2.07 of Midnight Texas: No. No. No. No.
Me, at other points during episode 2.06 and 2.07 of Midnight Texas: But also yes, though
So, here's the thing- I kind of love Walker. Sure, he's got a pretty cliche backstory, but that makes perfect sense with his motivations. And, okay, there's probably no way of ignoring the fact that Chuy wouldn't have died if Walker hadn't turned up, but also Joe should probably take some responsibility for his actions instead of just getting pissy at Walker after. Like, Walker came in with a crush on Joe and pretty much had to take his chance- it's all on Joe that he didn't say "I'm married and still very much in love with my husband". Having said that, though, if the show didn't want me to support Joe/Walker then they shouldn't have given us that scene where they were squaring up to each other and Joe's head is just brushing Walker's hat.
Also, I've only seen up to 2.07 so I might have to change my opinion based on 2.08 and 2.09

Five Favorite Episodes of "IRON FIST" Season Two (2018)
Tumblr media
Below is a list of my favorite episodes from Season Two of "IRON FIST", the Marvel Netflix adaptation of the Marvel Comics hero. Created by Scott Buck, the series starred Finn Jones as Danny Rand aka Iron Fist:
Tumblr media
1. (2.04) "Target: Iron Fist" - Joy Meachum's interrogation of private investigator Mary Walker aka "Typhoid Mary" takes a turn when she discovers the latter suffers from dissociative identity disorder. NYPD Detective Mercedes "Misty" Knight gives Danny Rand aka Iron Fist an earful regarding his involvement in the triads and his former K'un-Lun friend Davos.
Tumblr media
2. (2.09) "War Without End" - Facing a life-changing decision, Danny and his girlfriend and fellow vigilante Colleen Wing debate their next move regarding the Iron Fist. Meanwhile, Davos, who now possesses the Iron Fist, displays more contempt and less mercy toward the street thugs he hunts.
Tumblr media
3. (2.06) "The Dragon Dies at Dawn" - Misty and Colleen's trip to the tattoo parlor turns painful . . . but not for them. While Davos crosses names off his list of criminals, a somewhat contrite Mary makes Danny an offer to help him capture the former.
Tumblr media
4. (2.02) "The City's Not for Burning" - Danny and Colleen strive to broker a badly needed peace between the two local triads - the Hatchet Men and the Golden Tigers. Ward crashes his sister's auction and learns about her relationship with Davos. Meanwhile, Joy plays matchmaker - with blackmail in mind.
Tumblr media
5. (2.08) "Citadel on the Edge of Vengeance" - Joy offers Davos tips on appealing to the locals as their new vigilante. Danny begins to understand his limits without the Iron Fist. And one of Mary's personalities seeks the truth about her past with the U.S. Army.

one thing i noticed was that when we see evil sam in the red lighting in the last ride trailer, his eyes are normal, but in the actual scene in the show they're black? do you think that's just because the visual effects hadn't been finished or some other reason?
I’m gonna draw your attention to 10.03, not only because it involves a “red lights in the bunker” situation, but ALSO because of the promo for the episode. I found the handy-dandy side by side gif set for your reference:
https://mittensmorgul.tumblr.com/post/165604545530/violue-anyone-else-notice-this-x
the column of gifs on the left are from the promo for 10.03, the ones on the right were the actual episode as it aired. Interesting, yes? The promo was DELIBERATELY, BLATANTLY MISLEADING. Via black eyes.
I think the “red lights in the bunker” in s15 is related to episode 15.04, and that we’re meant to think of Sam’s “red light demon eye vision” as a sort of foreshadowing to that. Also based on the SPPT video. Because it gave us OTHER scenes of “red lights in the bunker” where Dean had a beard, which we know he had during the filming of 15.04, which actually filmed first out of order because Jensen directed it.
So... when that scene, that apparently had Evil!Sam facing down Dean-with-a-beard in red light in the bunker... I assume this was some sort of vision of the future. But as we know of all visions of the future (via Sam’s early seasons psychic powers, as well as Dean’s experience with the Mark, especially as shown in 10.09, seeing himself killing a room full of people and then having that come to pass during the episode, for example), psychic visions aren’t always “true seeing of the future,” and that when they’re KNOWN in advance, they can be changed.
I’ve been listening to this week’s @season14podcast, which is about episode 2.10, Hunted. The one where Sam met Ava Wilson, another “psychic kid” who had a vision of him being killed by a bomb set by Gordon Walker. In her vision, Sam’s boot and the area around the trip wire were blood-spattered, as if Sam had died. But when the scene came to pass in reality, Sam knew it was coming and avoided the trip wire. He still set the bombs off, but there was no blood spatter when we saw the same shot of his boot in the rubble, because he’d changed the vision. Just like in 2.09, Dean didn’t end up killing the boy insisting the Croatoan virus wasn’t in him, even though he did kill the kid in Sam’s vision. Visions, for all they might feel helpful, do not write the future in stone.
What will we actually see happen in 15.04, now? That remains to be seen, but I can guarantee that whatever happens will look different in context.
