aro culture is appreciating aro headcanons and such, but feeling iffy when it comes to neurodivergent characters. nothing wrong with aro nd headcanons. what's weird is when that's the only widespread aro (and ace, it can never go without the ace) hc, on the only canon nd character whose fandom interpretation is heavily infantilized... having that headcanon per se is great, hc what you want, plus nd aros do exist! but you know the reason for it for a chunk of the fandom is. bad.

I really love 2012 Karai, and I ship her with Shinigami a lot, so I thought “what if there was a Shinigami in Rottmnt?” and now I have an idea.
When she was a child, Karai met a girl. She was a human-looking yokai, and at the moment the humans and the yokai weren't at eachother's throat 24/7, so they became friends. Like, the best of friends. They hung out a lot, to the point where it was almost impossible to see them in different places.
When the whole Shredder thing happened and Karai left to create the Hamato Clan, Shini went with her. Like, not physically because she had a family in the Hidden City (or the past version of it? Idk), but spiritually. Her spirit was with Karai, supporting her. They couldn't talk a lot because it meant giving up Karai's location, but Karai wrote a lot of letters that told everything she was doing at those times. She didn't send them, but she was ready to do it if she ever managed to defeat the Shredder.
Then, Karai sacrificed herself. Shini was devastated. The Shredder caused a lot of chaos, even making some of the yokai unstable, so a lot of them went to sleep to like, regenerate their cores? I don't know how to explain it, but Shini was one of those people. She was also so sad that she refused to wake up no matter what happened, trying to find a way to bring Karai back without waking up the Shredder.
So, the years went by. Shini was sleeping and Karai was trapped. Well, until the boys found her and the final battle with Shredder happened.
One day, a couple of weeks after the end of season two, Shini felt a familiar energy. Yes, it was Karai. Karai was, ofc, now dead, but she could still talk to the fam along with the other Hamato ancestors. So, Shini woke up and found her. They reunited. Yay! Now Karai has her yokai wife again.
The family was shocked to find out the whole story between them. Needless it is to say that they accepted Shini right away.
