Waterfall Glen. I've run at least a 1000 miles there over the years on the loop surrounding the Argonne National Laboratory. My go-to spot for long runs due to the limestone path, few road crossings, and rolling hills for variety.

Oddly, I don't think I've run there at all in 2018. Most of my long runs were done with CES on the Prairie Path, and I've been avoiding hills due to my runners knee issues. I wanted to do 10 miles today and figured I'd make sure I got at least one training run in at my favorite spot.

When I hit that first hill, I started to second guess whether I had made a mistake. Why am I risking a knee issue with the race a week away? I kept the pace easy and took the hills as gracefully as I could. I think it was all good in the end and had that perfect fall nip that reminds me of cross country season.

A waterfall at Waterfall glen. Recent rain and snow made for some good photo opportunities along the trail, especially of the waterfall itself. 👍🏻🙂 There were few people on the trail and most were very friendly. Had a nice chat with a cross country skier. One even snapped some pictures of me at the falls. Elsewhere I had to rely on the good ole selfie stick this time. 😬 Fortunately, I was able to get a person in this shot to give a sense of proportion. 🙂 Usually, this spot is crowded, but weather kept a lot of folks at home. Trying to build my endurance back up. I knew it'd be slower than normal since I did a hard workout yesterday. Nothing wrong with loping along though. I think I was a little overdressed for the weather. With a threat of freezing rain on the way, I wasn't going to mess around. Otherwise not a bad day to be out there. Much worse to come this winter I'm sure.
