i was never a teacher, i only stepped in as a teachers assistent to observe and take notes how students used my research teams IDE. but let me tell you. every student who seemed to be struggling in the classes i was in. and some of these classes were students who barely attended school (though when we were visiting they had full attendance for an entire week which was a record). and the #1 way i could get the disinterested kids engaged in learning computer science was by sitting down, listening to them, and treating them like human beings instead of A Problem. i was lucky, i was not in front of the class so could sit down one on one with the student who was being disruptive and answer their questions about the program individually. regular teachers have so many students they cant do this.

but anyone who thinks a computer can do this better is fucking insane.

Out here thinking about the RE4 trio and how they all go from complete and total strangers to caring so much about one another. I really truly hope it’s something they further elaborate on in the remake. To think that they go from the cabin scene for instance where they are all less than friendly, to later on within the castle when Ashley willingly offers to go with Luis to help him backtrack into danger without hesitation. A girl who is thrown into this complete chaos with no prior training or preparation, but so willing to offer help to him rather than stay with Leon. Leon, who also shows concern for Luis constantly throughout the game, and a pair who is genuinely happy to see one another up until his death. Leon who screams his name despite only knowing him for a short period in time. Why I hope if they do keep his death at the same point in time in the game, we can at least see Ashley show a similar response to losing Luis. I just care so much about the trio and it kills me to know how caring Ashley and Leon were toward Luis and brought him in, making this little gang that try to see it through until the end. They quickly pull Luis from this state of mind where he went from only caring about himself, to doing whatever he could possible to help get them out alive when he could have easily just kept to himself and worked alongside Ada and nothing more. And to think that when they leave, they ( and Ada ) are the only ones that will remember Luis. He will be a memory to them, and apart from that? Forgotten entirely to the rest of the world. He has no family left, so truly he will just be a ghost in their memories.

Krauser is one hell of a man, almost the epitome of masculinity by some skewed American standards, but still attractive nonetheless. But this life hasn't been good to him. Luis doesn't know everything he's been through, but the scars on his body, the haunted look in his eyes, the callousness of his presence; everything screams barely repressed trauma. Luis understands. He's led a fairly shitty life himself, though he doesn't think what he's done matches anything that Jack Krauser has been through.

Inhaling deep on his cigarette, Luis steps towards him, taking the cigarette between two fingers before reaching out with that same hand to run calloused fingers over one of the scars of the other man's arms, following the twisting line of raised scar tissue. Just one piece of the puzzle, the mystery, the story. And he is very curious to read how he got here.

"It looks like you got yourself into quite a lot of fights, mi amigo. Work or pleasure?" His fingertips press against the scar and he looks up at Jack's face. Perhaps he won't even tell him, but it can't hurt to ask.

krauser's response is a flinch - not fear but the jerk of a man unused to affection; so often, skin on skin for him meant a fight. with touch came a bruise, with another - a scar. this man is different. different enough to have hairs stand on end and a chill reach its way up his spine. he forces himself to stand rigid, to allow touch to breach a barrier - to have his scar explored as if not a wound but some sort of story urged into being told.

rather than respond with an essay, the soldier lifts his gaze to meet his questioner - icy blues ( though not without the richness of sapphire ) spy the warmth amidst the other man's gaze. though not the sentimental type, krauser could imagine one could find comfort there. comfort, pain and a whole lot of other things.

like him, this man is marred, too. he knows this much.

"fighting's all a man's good for. comes with the territory of being a soldier." pride laden words respond though not without an edge. a mantra drilled into him since he were young. a view the other perhaps wouldn't share. luis was, as he'd once said, the 'brains' after-all. but why would he ever spare a thought for the brawn?

"what if i told you that there was pleasure to be had in the work? that a man's at his best out there-" words repeated to the troops he'd once trained, chanting no different to that of the brainless cult inhabiting the village. krauser knows it. knows it enough that eyes are quick to part from the spaniard. that, were luis to look close enough, he'd perhaps see the memories of a man traumatised reflected in the glassy cerulean of eyes disturbed by a ragged scar.

"i guess-" a shrug of his shoulders, a sigh because though he clings to what he believes is right ( he's every reason to know he's wrong ) "you wouldn't understand that...would you?"
