Wesley calls Gunn the very moment he gets home. He doesn't say anything, just hangs on the line, waiting. He knows that Gunn will understand exactly what is needed in this moment.

A beat, and then: "So today Connor got paint on Cordy's favorite blouse."

Wesley immerses himself in this visual: the laughing chaos of home, Cordelia's outraged shriek, Angel's puppyish guilt that is always so lovably charming when it isn't something he needs to feel seriously responsible for. His fingers are tight around the receiver.

You're a disgrace to the family name, his father had said, and I will never forgive you for your myriad of failures. Why you think yourself worth anything, even now, is--

"She's trying to get Angel to pay for damages," says Gunn, a laugh in his voice, rich and warm in a way that feels more like home than any story he could ever tell. "Says it was a five-thousand-dollar blouse and she's entitled to every penny of that money back. And Angel's still a little fuzzy on the concept of what things are worth these days--"

"No," says Wesley, unable to keep a giggle from escaping. "You can't be serious. She--he hasn't--"

"Wrote her a check fifteen minutes ago," says Gunn. He's starting to laugh too. "I tried to tell him, I said, man, she's knocking up the price, and he said, listen, Gunn, it's worth the money if it means she won't kill me for this. And then he says -- Wes, you're not gonna believe this, he tells me that he gave Connor that blouse to use to wipe his brush on--"

Wesley starts really laughing. Gunn is laughing too. "God, I miss you," he says with feeling. "I miss you and I miss--all of them. All of that."

"Yeah, you can say that from a distance," says Gunn. "You're not the one who's gotta teach Angel basic financial planning."

"I'll do it when I get back," says Wesley.

Gunn exhales, slow and wistful. "Yeah," he says. "Yeah. When you get back."

Spin the Bottle (ATS)

Spin the Bottle 4x6 on Angel is HILARIOUS. 14 year old me thought it was hilarious and I still do, 21 years later! It's a nice break from the "doom & gloom" that's been going on. Some comedy gems:

Cordelia crying over her hair

Gunn: *saying his name* Gunn.

Wesley: *ducks* Where? LOL

Wesley being absolutely terrified of his wrist stakes LOL and then his whole fighting stance "karate'"

Fred mimicking Wesley's fighting and saying "I didn't get one."

Cordelia looking at her breasts: I have filled out

Fred: & *looks down* I guess I'm not gonna LOL

Liam/Angel: I'm invisible!

Liam/Angel running back inside after seeing the cars "demons!"

Wesley falling down the stairs for no apparent reason. LOL

What comedic gold! I dont know how any of them got through it. I can see David about to lose it in the scene where Fred asks if he has weed and when Cordelia is just screaming in his face.

Queer Fred Burkle

Ok, so it's pretty clear that Fred was crushing on Willow when she came over in Angel season 4 (and Willow was just a little smitten too) but do you ever think that maybe she just has random crushes on girls sometimes but doesn't realize they're crushes. Like Faith came in earlier and Fred is just like "omg she's gorgeous!!!!!!" and even though she's a little scared she knows Faith is Angel's friend so just gets to know her a little bit. And they talk for a little bit and Fred's just so in love but so unaware. Fastforward to Cordelia coming back in season 5 and Fred's just "I didn't remember her being THAT amazing". And she's talking about it to Spike later and he's all like "too bad you never got around to dating" and Fred just freaking out. Spike then proceeds to talk her through his brain and she eventually lands on that she "might maybe probably possibly be bi". Spike then says that he's the same, so is Drusilla. Fred then asks about Angel and Spike says to him and Darla. And that's how Fred learns that she's bi. She keeps this to just her and Spike for a while and then tells Lorne on a drunken night with an absurd amount of thai food to which he responds "4/7, wonder who's next." She tells Wesley and he's mostly chill, though it does make him doubt their relationship possibilities a bit more (though unfounded). When she tells Gunn he just goes "yeah, I figured." She does tell angel but in a bit of a roundabout way so he doesn't really get it. It's Lorne that mentions it at some point that makes him finally clock on. Harmony is the last to find out, and feels very left out, even though Fred could swear she told her.

This is a blog created to share the project of Angel Season 4 revamped.

Changes to the original Season:

“Cordelia” and Connor’s relationship has been removed.

Cordelia’s possession and pregnancy have been removed.

Cordelia slips into a metaphysical comma in Episode 13.

Angelus murders Lilah instead of “Cordelia” murdering Lilah.

Connor summons Jasmine instead of Cordelia giving birth to Jasmine.

There are no longer 22 episodes but 21.

Episodes 1-3 have NO changes to the original versions.

Crucial points to understanding the Season:

Connor made Cordelia stay over with him to ensure the PTB did not inform her of his alliance with Jasmine which started shortly after he sunk Angel in the S3 finale. He also used this time to subtly prove to Cordelia that he has no involvement with the beast, due to Cordelia’s strong relationship with Angel he believed she would persuade Angel that Connor was not linked to the beast in any way. He also had to protect Cordelia and make sure she survived the apocalypse as he needed to use her blood in order to summon Jasmine later in the season.

Episode notes:

Episode 13 - Cordelia enters a metaphysical comma. This is due to Jasmine’s presence feeding off of Cordelia’s soul the entire season and in this episode Jasmine ultimately overpowers Cordelia and causes her to shift into a metaphysical comma.

Episode 15 - Connor stole and hid the glass Jar holding Angel’s soul in his room. I tried my best to show him running to his room just when the glass jar breaks.

Episode 16 - At the end of the episode, Lorne and the rest of AI set up a trap for Connor since they suspect Connor has been behind the recent events. That is when Connor attacks the gang and then kidnaps Cordelia.

Episode 17 -  This episode was probably the hardest to edit and put together, it is a bit patchy but I did my best to portray what I was trying to. After Connor kidnaps Cordelia, Angel goes to Skip in search of answers as to what happened to Cordelia and why she fell into a coma. Cordelia’s fate was all Skip’s doing, as he arranged for Cordelia to come back to earth so Jasmine could use Cordelia as a vehicle to descend to earth. However, Jasmine had not taken corporeal form after coming back to earth, she had to get stronger - she did this by feeding on Cordelia’s soul. Think of it as a similar storyline to Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Jasmine manipulated Connor into summoning her so she would grant him the life of peace she promised - Connor had to use Cordelia’s blood for the ritual to summon Jasmine as Jasmine was ultimately living inside Cordelia and sharing a blood link.

Episode 20 - It’s revealed Connor always knew Jasmine’s true form. This is because during the ritual to summon her - he mixed his blood with Cordelia’s so from the very beginning he knew what Jasmine looked like. 

The truth is the season destroyed Cordelia and I wanted to enjoy the show and revisit it without skipping this season since it does include a lot of really cool character moments and plot lines. I did my best to make the season flow in a way that made sense, but definitely look at this guide when watching the revamped version incase there is any confusion.
