anyway, depresso vent post again

not sure if it's just a coinkidink but god, i've been getting depresso BEFORE my pre-period PMS which sucks cause i get twice the depresso come on man wtf

but anyway, idk things have been triggering me a lot lately and idk if it's cause of the stress of all the things i have to do + lack of art career direction + seeing everyone advance and im not advancing/feeling like im being left behind + the stress from work + internal battles and issues i haven't solved yet that i keep gaslighting myself that i've solved but clearly they are not solved + the existing family issues. I feel like yeah most likely that's causing my additional wave of depresso but i also hate that it just comes out of nowhere. I was pumped and all cause I started going to the gym and then suddenly i'm like falling to the floor help ive fallen and can't get up.

i'm also not much of a crier, i hate crying simply cause it takes a lot of energy so i don't really cry much unless im super frustrated or wtvr, but i've been finding myself wanting to cry more so than ever, starting from a few months ago????? I still try not to cause i hate crying, but theres always that tight feeling in my throat like i want to cry u know. And yes, I know crying it out is good for you, but ugh.

I also have been yet again putting a shit ton of more stuff on my plate than I should be what's new, and that's also causing stress as well cause I want to do so many things but I obviously don't have the time for it. I'm still slowly chipping away at my art commissions and I planned on having them done by Feb 1 but i dont think that's gonna happen.... But after art commissions is art print grind cause I need to overhaul my old anime convention art prints... And then I had the idea of creating a side brand that sells only udon related merch (so less anime, and more cute) and because it's a whole new brand, there's a lot of effort/designing/money to be put in and.... that's... more things to do in so little time. Why do I do this to myself. I still really want to do it though!!!! But at what cost, udon... at what cost....

And of course, seeing people be successful makes me feel down cause I don't have what they have and they have what I want yada yada insert pitiful stuff. I'm happy for these people but obvs i can't help but be envious and my brain being like "you're never gonna be enough/never gonna get what they have" and then i want to stab a knife in my brain hello. It's hard to see my own successes when I keep looking at other people's successes, which sucks, cause I've done a lot of cool things, but I keep unregistering them because it's not my ideal success or something idk

Also I think what mostly triggered this month's mood swing is seeing/feeling that someone's leaving me (?) Seeing someone I enjoy being with happier/enjoying someone else's company more. And I'm being totally irrational with that because ofc there are so many other factors. I can't control what other people feel/do and I'm not the center of the universe!!! But in this/that moment it makes me feel like I'm not enough, that I'm boring or wtvr, not loved. And we all know how much I struggle with that 🤪 basically my abandonment issues kicking in, but also my brain being really irrational

I guess this month's theme is I feel like I'm not enough :' ) and also way too many things on my plate yet again, and the stress that I kind of forgot during the December holiday catching back up to me again :)

I genuinely have no idea how I followed you, but I love your vibe.

Like I recently noticed your very nice, well curated collection of reblogged posts showing up on my feed and went “who in the ever loving fuck is this person?” And after some poking around it turns out you wrote a dofp fic I read a year(years?) and half a dozen fandom fixations ago (I just had the pleasure of rereading it<3) and yet I still have no idea how I came to recently follow you.

The world works in mysterious ways I guess. Fun coinkidink tho. Scrolling through your blog in hopes of finding out who you are has also given me the urge to read Batman fanfiction. I have never read Batman fanfiction before. Nor can I recall the details of any of his media beyond dead parents, cool butler, alter ego of a rich guy, and maybe adopting problem children?

Again, y’all all thought he would be electro and I am pleasantly surprised to see anemo. The Kazuha main in me in absolutely thriving at all the parallels design wise.

They’re both anemo boys, they both have lil short ponytails, they both have one random ass streak of hair that’s a different color not to mention it’s on opposite sides. I lowkey feel like Heizou and Kazuha would be buddies. Heizou is the hyper and energetic one while Kazuha is the calm and collected one who just smiles while Heizou proceeds to pester him.

Ok but when I first looked at his hair I was like ew wtf why do it do that. But uh,,, idk what it is with mhy, I always end up warming up to their designs whether I like it or not. So ofc I very quickly was like nvm his hair kinda cute. And now I’m obsessed. His whole color palette as a whole is so heckin pretty. Not to mention that exact red is my favorite color, what a coinkidink. The green eyes really pop too, there is no doubt ima draw them a teeny bit more blue cuz I like that better- The lil brown strand is also cute. He kinda got the lil Xiao side bangs (bruh idk what to call them) goin on. I also like that the rope that ties his hair up (what I can only assume) is also like a lil headband.

The rest of his outfit I don’t have much say about lol I like how the lil fluffy thing on the tassel is black rather than the usual white we see. I also like his lil choker and his shirt collar. Dunno exactly why but I think it looks nice in relation to his character. Other than that, tis cool outfit, immediate thought was that he’s geo but I have to remember their color palettes don’t always match their elements.

I’m really excited to see his 3d model because (and maybe I have too much hope) I don’t see mhy messing this one up ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ especially with how well they did Ayato.

It helps a little that we're very familiar with Neku by this point, but ai just love how he abruptly says "Please" to shut down the idea of him having friends. It's kinda sad, but also funny.

It's coupled with that sprite pose which looks pretty dismissive, but it's also often used when Neku is doubtful or even sad. I expect that's no coincidence.

Actually, to be fair, it's not a coincidence but I also doubt Joshua's lying. It's such an interesting exercise trying to peel back what is and isn't a shell he's put up for one reason or another. Trying to figure the guy out is a puzzle, but I absolutely love puzzles.

Also, Neku specifying that he never met anyone fun to be around is an interesting thing to say. It kind of implies he would have liked a friend if he'd had someone to gel with. I have other minor theories on that, but I'm sure it's also mainly another way of him phrasing his whole "I don't get people" thing.

Well lemme start by saying I aint played darkroad yet, and seeing its available on the unionx app instead of its own seperate thing is both cool and worrisome. Cool because my phone wont try to end me for downloading what would be another one of nomuras fever dreams and worrisome because this probably means nomuras plotting to stitch it closer to the games and that story beats may follow Unions drip feed method of story telling which is to say it will give you the teeniest tiniest bits of info until it just cant hold the secret any longer and will proceed to then ignore those beats for a good ehhhh what is it been 3000 years? Yeah that sounds about right.

But my biggest concern and its admittedly a completely biased one is of course surrounding my boy braig. Now Im not stupid, and I assume a good 90% of the fandom isnt either with the remainder 10% being absolutely insane, but come on.

Bragi.

Braig.

Names are important when it comes to nomura and his style of story telling so the idea that this is just coinkidink is very unlikely, now ive done my research into the norse god bragi and from what I get bragi really doesnt have much going for him as a norse god other then he's kinda a loser and is odins possible bastard son. So in the norse route I personally find it to be a bit of a dead end so that leaves me to throw the idea that its coincidence out the window.

Either bragi is Luxu in a different body once again or bragi himself is his own stanalone character and lemme just say Ive lost all faith in nomura for possible standalone characters as even the union babs have connections to characters already established in the series.

Which leaves the option that Bragi is Luxu in disguise. Now the thing is we know how body snatching works in kh via xehanort but his method of body hopping could very well be different then Luxu's, and thinking back on it theres something from the secret report that bugs the fuck out of me.

Luxu refers to braig as a "semblance" not a body, or a seperate entity but a semblance. Whats that word mean exactly?

"the outward appearance or apparent form of something, especially when the reality is different."

Given bragi's name and the fact that Luxu refered to braig as his last "Semblance" I unfortunatly am beginning to think that there is a high possibility that Braig as his own character never existed in the first place. It was Luxu in disguise all along which is upsetting to say the least given how much time and Love I dumpped onto this character.

Regardless I still love braig and hope to continue loving him as a character and I do hope Im wrong about this particulare possibility though I got reasons to think Im not. Feel free to prove me wrong folks!

I'm gonna make a prediction~~

For the next half of SUF because I can~

So in the last few episodes of SUF stevena been really stressin over the people around him moving on with their lives, not requiring his help, not needing him per say.

Thats understandable, I mean, when you spend your whole life trying to fix things and you start running out of things to fix you sort of face this black hole of not knowing what you're supposed to do with yourself.

And obviously Steven doesn't want to face that, he is in his comfort zone. He doesn't know how to get out or how to jump off that ledge into the unknown. Added on top of feeling constantly obligated to essentially parent everyone.

I'm pretty sure just about everyone noticed the parallels between the movie and the last two episodes of SUF (so far) and I am here to make some predictions!

So, in little graduation Steven kind of goes off the wall with some absolutely MAJOR projection onto Lars about people moving on with their lives and doing new stuff. In which some very interesting words are used by our resident awesome nonbinary friend Shep. Now, I myself am a writer and I can't tell you how often writers ESPECIALLY when writing dialogue like to call back to things that will definitely or at least more than likely be important later on, and I don't think it's a mere coinkidink that Shep uses the words "drifting away". That among personal reactions Steven has to Lars trying to quietly leave the party, that's a pretty interesting and oddly specific way to portray Steven's distress.

I don't think that's unintentional and I have reasons why~~

Now onto prickly pair.

Thus episode I really enjoyed tbh, mostly because its what gonna compel the plot forward.

First things first, it's very obvious that Steven has turned what could be a healthy coping mechanism and hobby into an unhealthy one. Gardening can be really great but naming your plants after your friends and commenting that they won't leave you, and further secluding yourself from your family to "cope" isn't really coping. He is obviously trying to fill his time to pretend that he isn't incredibly and clearly depressed but its gonna backfire because it's not really taking his mind off of anything and really just allows him to delude himself into thinking this is better.

Then we get his venting on the gems, and while its totally understandable his feelings and some of the faults he sees in them, he still very much cares about the gems and doesn't want them to know these things. Hence, venting to cactus Steven.

Problem is, it still gets out (kind of) and if I know patterns, I know that Steven is NOT gonna want to talk about whatever it is bothering him. Which is a decent amount that has been building up for like 4 years.

Now I'm gonna address the diamond in the room. White Diamond being in the villian roster.

I personally don't know what exactly is gonna go down with white but I got a big ole hunch that Steven's current habit of running from his problems in search of others is going to absolutely lead him to homeworld because where else could a problem be?

Little homeschool is doing swell without him, the crystal gems don't need him, Lars is going to space, Sadie and Shep and the cool kids are doing whatever. Jasper is just hermiting it up on her patch of dirt. And Connie is MIA (probably for plot reasons)

All the problems here are fixed. So what about the ones in space? Surely there are some up there?

Compound this with prior evidence of what to me looks like darn clear foreshadowing, and Steven not wanting to share anything with the gems, being worried he is losing what he considers his purpose, and losing the people he has grown to love and enjoy.

It to me seems like Steven is probs gonna go to space, to homeworld to see if one of the most recent lose ends (spinel and the diamonds) is nice and tied up, probably secretly hoping that the place is a complete mess because he desperately wants some semblance of what ~he~ considers normalcy.

Then some stuffs gonna go down, idk what its gonna be, but I'm sure that the next half of SUF is gonna be way more plot heavy (unless its gonna go in threes, idk)

Hes probably gonna ask white about the pink hue thing, probably gonna dig for issues with Spinel (if there are any tbh, it could be a trainwreck or totally fine honestly) so he can distract himself but itll probably blow up in his face hence white being in villian roster for inexplicable reasons. And hes gonna be worse off because he internalized his failures to a horrifically unhealthy degree. Then worm thing is gonna start coming into the picture (probably halfway through second half or the beginning third if there are gonna be 2 hiatuses)

I'm gonna be quiet on wormy boi theory because anything can happen~

EDIT: also, I find it really interesting that Steven's thoughts on happily ever after in the movie are "there's always more work to do" because he is strictly speaking about fixing OTHER PEOPLES problems. Yes, there is always more work to do, but it is not always for other people, sometimes, it's for yourself.

It's also pretty funny how his message is change, but when change is happening he is having just as much if not a harder time adjusting to change than Spinel (who acts as his foil in the movie- granted we have yet to know how she or the diamonds are dealing with change soooo..)

“Morning, Lara. Had fun?”

“Oh. You’re Johnny’s roommate.” She gives me a long up and down. I give her a grin; it’s never too early to start making friends, right? Sure, keeping them up is a bit of work, and you’re playing risky business, because people are chumps re: clinging to this mortal coil, but you need to chase what you can. Opportunity only knocks once unless you grab its hand and make it. And when you do that, they become more opportunities. And at the end of the day, everyone (well, everyone you gotta watch out for) wins. She does not catch my thoughts. “Is this going to be a problem?”

Oh, my sides.

“No, no, of course not. I’m not that kind of roommate. You do what you like about Zest. I’d offer coffee, but we’re on the cheap. Come back in...Oh, I dunno, maybe two days.” Today’s my day off, and I’m not at a level of my aspirations where I need a dinner party. So as much as I’d like to say I’m going to get one tonight, it’s time to be realistic. Actually, I’d like to see whether or not there’ll be a kid, so two days is about perfect.

Once she leaves, though, it’s time for me to people-hunt, because I’m going to need more than Zest for this -- he can run around and get me plants because I made puppydog eyes at and/or threaten him all day, but there’s bound to be some things I can make easier.

And that’s when I spot him. An old man. In overalls.

Fisherman, ahoy! Not as good as one of those neighborhood gardener types, but I flag him down and dash towards him, because any free fish I can get are good fish. I practically shove the welcome wagon aside as I dash out --

“I’ll take care of these guys!” Zest cries after me. They’re a full day late, anyway.

“Hey! Can we talk? I’m Kestral.”

“Oh, sure! it’s not every day someone your age wants to talk to an old man like me. Gino’s the name. Gino Levin.”

“Cool, cool. Hey, listen, Gino -- can I call you Gino?” I have already ditched his last name entirely. “Are you happy? You look like an out-of-towner; you commute to fish?”

“I don’t mind the commute,” He says with a laugh. For an old guy, he talks pretty quickly, with some vim. He could last me a while. “It’s a bit of a challenge, gives me something to do!”

And boom goes the dynamite. A door opens a little before me. I can get him, and then I’m home free on fishing for -- I dunno, a week, maybe? How old is he?

“A challenge, huh? You can do better than a commute, though!” I start, luring him in. “You need a real purpose, before it’s too late!”

“Yeah! You’re right!” He got fired up pretty easily. I breathe a sigh of relief.

“I am right! You can --”

“Actually, I’ve got to go. Thanks for talking with me!”

Oh, come on! That’s not even fair!

I head back to the house, where I’ll call up that fisherman, because your girl is going to reel in this catch so she doesn’t have to worry about reeling in a catch! Meanwhile, true to his promise, Zest has been taking care of the welcome wagon.

“Hey!  You’re a pretty girl -- you shouldn’t doubt yourself!” He’s explaining as I try and sort out the mob around me.

“Johnny, you flatter me,” Maaike says, in the tone that suggests that flattery, while somewhat misplaced, is not going to be disregarded. If you like having your ego boosted, just say so -- it’s what I do. To myself.

“Yeah, but I’m being serious! I know you can’t tell, but really!” He really does sound earnest, taking her hand and energetically sweeping her up to her feet. “Now, this is where, if I had a prop comedy thing, I’d tell you beauty is in the eye of the b-holder, but I’d have a B tucked away somewhere and give it to you. It’d be great.“

“But you don’t,” she says.

“But I don’t. It B-left me, so you’ll just have to B-lieve me.” When he says that, she gives one of those bursts of laughter that comes after a long pause, in which a rational person’s brain adjusts to the ridiculousness of things Zest is willing to say with nothing but a bright and earnest smile. “You’re smart, you’re funny, you’re awesome!”

“I think,” says Maaike, “That I’m smart enough to think you’re just trying to get with me.”

“Nah! Well. Ok. Could you blame me?” He tried to find a way to buoy her up, and snaps his fingers. “I know! I’ll prove it; be my girlfriend!”

“...Well. Very well, then. We are to date!”

It’s a very short walk to his bedroom from there. I asked him later if that was going to be a real thing -- by which I meant, a lasting thing.

“Well, it lasts as long as it lasts, but it probably won’t be the last.” He shrugged, in the future. “But I do like her, but I’m not sure if I’m ready for something super exclusive.”

he’s probably just caught in the moment. Like I hoped he would be.

Not that I am not considering Ulrike, myself. An artsy type isn’t bad.

“So, naturally, I’m expecting to knock out a couple of levels of kitchen work in my first week or so here, become a master chef and mixologist by the time I’m an adult, and just knock it all right out of the park, you know? But it’s not exactly a solo job.”

“Suuuurre.”

Pah. Whatever her skepticisms, there’s nothing a good cloudgazing can’t fix.

Nothing charms and relaxes like lying on the ground with someone! For some reason. But at least Ulrike enjoys describing shapes for a while.

Once the Welcome Wagon goes home, I am left with Gino, who’s looking a little down.

“Heeey, Gino. What’s up, old man?”

“...What if it is too late? I’m not spring chicken. All you young people, having love lives; having goals. The water never changes… I’m running out of time to be like that.” His shoulders sag and he smiles, full of regret.

Look, I intend a lot of things that happen. But this isn’t one of them. And I can’t abide giving up like that; I won’t accept it!

“It’s not too late; it’s never too late!”

“But didn’t you say --”

“OK, there is a too late, but you’re alive right here, right now; you have an all.” I lean in and grab his arm just a little gently. “Look. If you’re lonely, come move in with us! It won’t be a grand life or anything (sorry about that, I’ll work on it), but every fish you can catch goes into building a big house for forever! And every angelfish you catch can [i]really count[/i]! Come on; whaddya say?”

“You got yourself a fisherman!”

And so is added to the house Gino Levin (Oh, hey, I remembered after all), a Jealous, Active Bro. Odd for a fisherman, but what do I know? Like Zest, I’m not going to force him to change all his clothes. Maybe just a dapper suit. For when I have an occasion. Later, I’ll probably get… More proactive, as it were. Because I know that by the time I have kid who is old enough, fashions will have changed and everyone will have been absolutely smashed by the dumb outfit stick.

I can spend most of my next morning skilling. What? This is skilling. I have to make drinks, and then the drinks are just sitting around, waiting to be drunk! That said, I’ll be glad when my aspiration lets me step back and practice bartending for a bit; easier to zone out and do for a long while. But while I need to, I can knock them out!

Not that I don’t, when Zest gets invited out by Maaike, mind going out and spending a while in a nice pub.

“You know, people say chickens are dinosaurs -- but aren’t you supposed to call things chicken, not the other way around?” What. Dude.

“Hm; you raise a point… Would the logical counter-chicken then be a dinosaur, or do we suppose dinosaurs cowards?”

He’s… kind of got a situation going. Of which he and his talk of dinosaurs remains completely and blissfully unaware.

But that’s his business; my business… Is with a familiar face.

“Sweet, what a coinkidink!” She waves me down when I come in, and I take a seat across the table from her.

“Aren’t you supposed to live in San Myshuno? I know they have bars there.”

“OK, while I love, love, loooove a good karaoke machine, you have to go out, experience new things, visit new places! That’s sort of my thought about all sorts of things -- about life, and about love, too!”

Oh. “So, you’re kind of a free spirit, huh?”  That’s what she wants… Do I take a different tack, then? Well, it’s not like me to worry about that; if that’s what I want to do, it’d be better to sweep her off her feet so hard she can’t think.

“Yup! I wouldn’t say I’d want to be a two-timer… But I wouldn’t want to get bored, either!” She smiles blithely… But after a moment, she gives me a glance. “Out to meet more people for your quest?”

“Kinda; I’d see what happens, anyway. Wish that lady would let me behind the bar…” I mean, wouldn’t that be fun? It’d be a step up from the porch.

“That’s lame! I’d like to try your drinks sometime.” She looks at my face for a second and stands up. “Hey, wanna see if I can’t kick your butt in foosball for a while?”

“I mean, I already know the answer; but it’ll be fun to prove it to you,” I answer graciously.

“You’re so mean!” She laughs regardless. “I’ll make you eat those words!”

We just goofed around anyway; it was a fun match.

“Shame it doesn’t help much!” She commented as she spun a little guy around.

“Socializing helps, socializing helps. It’s all got to happen sometime.” I shrug.

“Well, it does help ms. go-getter not blow a gasket. You know what they say about all work and no play!” Her eyes lit up when she thought about that.

“You’ve got to hustle to make a dollar! Besides… You’re just trying to distract me so I won’t cream you.”

As for what Zest was up to… Mostly just chatting, I think? He might have played some Don’t Wake the Llama. Any hope of flirting with his girl was hard-stopped…

By his other girl, who sulked -- he didn’t even give her a kiss hello! Because of his girlfriend, who he’s sensible enough to at least not flirt with in front of his side squeeze. Ah, Zest.

“Booyah! Victory is mine! I warned you! Your girl does not lose!”

It was a good trip.
