i think the adult relationship to the childhood dog is something that is so tender and heart-wrenching and important. you are the last vestige of my childhood. you are the sacred keeper of the memories i hold dearest, but you can barely see or hear me anymore. who do i become once you’re gone? where do i turn to remember myself? you’re the last one sitting next to me at the door of a childhood home that no longer exists, waiting patiently for the return of a family that no longer exists. where can i live when you, too, no longer exist? i can’t let go. please don’t make me let go. i know you’ll leave soon. i wish you didn’t have to. but she’s just a dog. her life is short and i will witness her death and i’ve known this from the beginning. i didn’t think it would come so fast. am i ready? have i become someone yet? have i become unrecognizable to her yet? does she still see the child i was? i’m still the child i was. please, don’t forget the child i was. please don’t take her away from me.

#i wrote this and put it in my drafts a few months ago #and now my childhood dog just died and im a complete fucking mess and i keep coming back to this #she was my baby #i got her as a birthday present from my parents #only a couple months before everything fell apart #i didnt know what was going on at home was abuse or that things were bad or that thwy would change #i just knew that my parents got me a puppy so i must be the luckiest girl in the world #and she was with us through all of it #and she knew our pain too #he was the one who wanted to put her in a shock collar #we all cried and begged him not to #she was just as traumatized by him as the rest of us #she was the last thread tying me to a time before i understood how bad things were #i don’t know who to be now #im sorry this is sooooo dramatic #i just loved my puppy #but she was 14 years old and we knew it was coming #i just hoped we’d have her for christmas

one of the things that makes wolf 359's characterization work so well and feel so genuine is how much it's about perspective. maxwell is a manipulative backstabber in hera's story, a "gift of a friend" in jacobi's, and - from their subjective perspectives - both of them are right about her. i love eiffel, and i'm completely on his side, but... if you were kate garcia and your ex you had a toxic relationship with, a man you had to tolerate in your life because you had a child with him, who - after you were awarded full custody - attempted to kidnap your daughter, and got in an accident that left her disabled... if you thought that man was serving 26 years in prison for what he did, and then you thought he was dead, and then he showed up alive - walking free - and wanted to make amends...? would you want to hear him out? eiffel has suffered so much, and he became a better person in a way carceral punishment would never have done, but from kate's perspective, it must seem like he has never had to face consequences for anything. and that's... complicated, but it's real.

when I see people complained they pulled a 5 star they didn't want in genshin or star rail because they were trying to ~build pity for the character they want~ (and usually got them early pity) I always have to laugh at them because,,, why are you doing that??? build pity on the banner of the character you want so if you get a banner 5 star it's them lmao. that's the most obvious logical thing to do. "building" pity isn't actually a thing if you think about it, since you can get a 5 star at 0 pity. it's more like you gain it. you have no control over it. so instead, just wait and pull on the banner you want.

why dont people realize it's a bad idea until that happens lmao. do they truly not know this will happen, or is it simply being impatient and paying for it? normalize doing pulls only on banners you want and not trying to "build pity." being impatient like that kinda deserves it tbh 😂
